Model T? Really? Not exactly subtle. The reports went on to say she was pinged by radar driving at over 120 mph and lost her pursuit. What the hell did that car have under its hood?
As you drove down the road you - or rather your RV did; it was self driving - you had been listening in on police chatter. You were in the business of conspiracy theories. You know. Secret DARPA dark projects, UFO cover ups, stuff like that. Most people thought you were a crackpot. But you had a serious education background. Tonight the airwaves were rich with encrypted comms.
For the past year and a half the entire federal government had suddenly shifted gears. NASA funding had jumped from $25 billion to $3 trillion, not that you could really track the funding directly. A Cold War had begun between the US, China, and Russia as nuclear proliferation had spiked once more. The space race had taken off. NSA, CIA, and the FBI had received vast budget increases. On the plus side infrastructure spending had also doubled to improve transportation and disaster preparedness. But you were no man’s fool. Trouble was in the air.
Whoever this woman was, she knew something she wasn’t supposed to know. All reports seemed to suggest the current chase had begun near Salt Lake City and headed toward the southwest corner of Wyoming.
Nov 6, 2028 1300 hrs Thursday
You had finally decided to pull into the truckstop at Little America, WY about noon to grab some lunch. It was on your way out you saw the impossible. It was a woman who matched the description to a tee. And parked outside was a Model T. She rushed in looking around, spotted what she was looking for - the Ladies’ Room.
Pulling into the lot in her wake were half a dozen State Patrol.
As if the car saw them coming, it cranked back up and peeled out in reverse, pulled a bootlegger reverse and zoomed past the law enforcement vehicles who saw noone at the wheel.
