Greetings everyone! I've been on and off on the site, mostly due to my mood souring every now and then (college takes up a lot of my energy and inspiration). That said, I'm still very passionate about writing and world-building, and as a result, roleplaying as a whole. In this thread, I'll try to make my preferences and ideas as clear as possible, so that any interested writers may check in and see if they'd be up for writing something with me. It may seem like a lot, but to make sure we're on the same page, I recommend you at least read some of it to get an idea of my interests and how I am as a player.
I'll surely be adding more concrete ideas and plots in the future, as well as writing samples for reference, but this'll be it for now. I hope this is enough to intrigue some people, so if you're interested, make sure to leave a post on this thread or just reach out to me on my PMs. Have a good day!
- Some information about myself, to see if we click. All I ask is that you read it; it may be a bit to look at, yes, but that way we can avoid problems and you can get a better idea of who I am as a player.
- -I'm 20 years old, and as such, would prefer to play with people around my age. I may be lenient on this rule, though my zone of comfort stands at 16. Sorry.
- -Right off the bat, I'll let you know that sometimes, my mood just isn't there. Sometimes I'm extremely inspired; other times, I'm down in the dumps creatively. Despite my failings in the past, I'll try to be more communicative as to avoid ghosting partners.
- -I'm not a native English speaker, and thus, I'm prone to making grammatical mistakes/slip into weird wording territory. If anything seems odd, don't be afraid to let me know; I don't mind it at all!
- -I am ghost-friendly. Sometimes real life just catches up to us, and we can't quite warn people in time. If I'm left without an answer for more than a week without prior notice, I'll likely send a message to check in.
- -I'm very chatty OOC! Creating OOC PMs is absolutely okay with me, and if you're just in a mood to chat back and forth on a specific day, then I'm available.
- -As of the extension of quarantine in my country, as well as the break from my college, I tend to be online often; however, as I play videogames, watch shows and spend time on calls with my friends, I may take a while to respond at times. That being said, I don't mind getting a reminder here or there, but please be patient. Sometimes I'm just busy or distracted, and I will get back to you in time.
- -On the same vein, sometimes, I'm forgetful with replies. Quarantine makes my memory a bit fuzzy as everyday feels the same, so sometimes I think I've replied when I haven't. Just to double down on the possibility to remind me if I take a bit longer.
- -To wrap up on the subject of my availability, you can expect, at the very least, one reply per day, given that I'm not currently overwhelmed with real life or in a bit of a creative block.
- -Something that I find important to reiterate: I am not my characters. Please do not refer to me as if I am them. If there is any conflict between my character and yours, that is entirely in-character. Thank you.
- Just what I'm looking for in a partner, though it's by no means meant to be seen as a filter.
- -While I'm nowhere near a grammar nazi (being a non-native speaker and all), I tend to favor people who have readable grammar. Mistakes happen, yes, but if things lean into incoherent or simply unreadable, then it gets hard to work with.
- -Communication is key. This will tie in with my feedback preference, but please, tell me if you're no longer interested or if you feel we don't mesh well. Also, don't be afraid to voice your criticisms!
- -Be creative! Worldbuilding is a great passion of mine, and I love when people give their inputs to the worlds we are going to play in. This stretches into the plots as well: I often have an idea of how things may turn out, and having it all be changed by a well-thought-out twist by my partner is always a pleasant surprise! So please, plot away, send me ideas, be passionate about what you (and potentially we) create!
- -You're more than welcome to bring your own ideas! Got a plot you've been thinking of for a while and want to toss the idea to me? Feel free to do so!
- -Feedback is not only accepted, it's desired! I'm nowhere near a professional writer, and thus, I like to make sure my writing is always evolving. If you want feedback on your own stuff as well, I'll definitely provide it.
- -In terms of availability, I'm not going to ask you to be online every single day. Life happens, people have responsibilities, and sometimes, our brains seemingly don't want to get to work on our hobbies. And that's absolutely okay. Whether you post multiple times a day or a few a week, what matters is that you're comfortable and moving at your own pace.
- -About post lengths, I have no hard preferences, as long as there's effort in what's being written, and that the content moves the story forward. Quality over quantity; not every post has to be a novella, but you often need more than just one to three lines to make the plot move onward.
- -On romance, I enjoy it, though it depends on the chemistry between characters. Sometimes, a platonic roleplay is way more viable than forcing romance between characters that don't mix well romantically, and that's alright.
- -I'm 100% LGBTQ+ friendly. So no preferences on pairings, and I'm always open to characters of different genders!
- The sorts of settings I enjoy play with, though most are up for discussion.
- -Fantasy: Overused as it may be, it has enough 'sub-genres' within it (Dark Fantasy, for instance) to allow for some creative and unique plots and adventures. I'm willing to work with Historical Fantasy, High Fantasy, and anything that goes beyond Western European Medieval Fantasy. The only instance of Fantasy I'm generally not interested in is Modern, which would require a rather eye-catching idea for me to work with.
- -Post-Apocalyptic: Once more, another genre that's been rather worked to the bone. Aside from the usual suspects (i.e. Zombie apocalypses and Nuclear apocalypses), more creative ends to the world are always welcome.
- -Historical: Just about any period in History. Ancient Era? Yes. Classical Rome and Greece? Absolutely. Three Kingdoms China? You know it. Even the ones which I'm least familiar with, such as Modern Europe (1600s-1700s), are fair game, and thus up for debate.
- -Sci Fi: While I'm a bit iffy depending on the idea, anything from basic space exploration to sprawling galactic empires goes. Recently, I've become more enamored with settings similar to No Man's Sky, which involve a mostly unexplored universe and lots of introspective journeys through the stars.
- -The 'Punk' Genres: For those unfamiliar with this, these 'subgenres' of Sci-Fi tend to either revisit the past (such as Steampunk and Dieselpunk) or delve into the future (such as Cyberpunk), exploring themes that range from transhumanism, technological advance, to social unrest and politics as a whole. My preferred genre is Cyberpunk, though Steampunk also strikes my fancy from time to time; I'm also up to exploring new ones in this style.
- -Cosmic Horror: An instance of horror often tied to Eldritch creatures from beyond our visible reality. I generally enjoy it due it not focusing on grotesque imagery and gore for the shock value, instead capitalizing on our fear of the unknown and the incomprehensible to instill terror in the audience.
- Just as a general warning, I favor OC-centered plays. I very rarely play with Canon characters, save for a few rare exceptions.
- -The Elder Scrolls.
- -The Fallout Universe.
- -The Dragon Prince.
- -Avatar: The Last Airbender.
- -Failbetter's Games (Fallen London, Cultist Simulator, the sort).
- -Star Wars.
- -Warhammer Fantasy and 40k (I enjoy Fantasy more, though).
- -Kimetsu no Yaiba/Demon Slayer.
- -Shingeki no Kyojin/Attack on Titan.
- A collection of plot ideas I'm usually interested with. I keep them more or less vague to allow potential partners some more liberty of choice with what and who they want to play; this also means that you can absolutely pitch in and give suggestions of your own! As stated in my info, I love worldbuilding, so it'd be amazing if you contributed as well.
- -A suburban mystery story. In summary, a suspenseful story full of mystery and investigation in a sleepy neighborhood. Our characters could be people who just recently moved in, drawn by the decent prices, good localization and generally friendly neighbors. However, something odd is definitely afoot. Odd sounds in the dead of the night, brief glances of things that shouldn't be there, the dismissive attitude of the other residents when questioned about the events. Our characters could then join up, seeing one another as perhaps the only 'sane' people in the neighborhood, and try to investigate the root of all these events. What I'm aiming for here is some sort of cosmic horror (think Eldritch creatures and gods, for instance), working with both psychological and more traditional, physical horror as the characters try to not only figure out what's going on, but also escape this place (somewhat) unscathed.
- -A Japanese-themed Medieval Fantasy. While I'm not at all opposed to the more 'traditional' European Fantasy, I believe that Japanese mythology and history as a whole are too good to pass up for a fantasy universe. Imagine all the yokai and oni, all the bizarre and stunning creatures of lore, the legendary wandering warriors, the greedy and tyrannical daimyos ruling the land. Can be either in an original world inspired by Japan and eastern Asian aesthetics and culture, or just a historical Japan infused with fantasy elements. This idea gives more freedom for characters, so it can be pretty much whatever we wish: two daimyos or minor nobles tangled in political intrigue? Wandering ronin trying to find their place in the world? Fate-bound samurai fighting against some world-threatening event?
- -A Space Opera-like adventure through the stars. Inspired mainly by No Man's Sky' aesthetics and themes (as in, a more optimistic outlook on sci-fi, colorful and full of mystery, very much drawing from 70s/80s sci-fi aesthetics), this would likely revolve around explorers blazing through a lush, colorful galaxy filled with majestic species and great empires. The goal of our characters could range from trying to save a dying civilization, to simply unveiling the answers to all that there is around them. Meant to be really whimsical with its themes and characterization, with also some drops of mystery and philosophy as the characters discover more about the universe around them, their history and perhaps even their own future.
