Fantasy Like sparks in a fire (No longer running)

SomebodyElse

Caught in a storm
The wolf had been wandering for ages. Hunger. He hadn't eaten in a long time. His legs shivering from the cold winds.
Rushing across thick bramble, the cold slowly killing him. He sought death. Perhaps the great howl would simply pass over and everything would be fine.
When he had been chosen as the Great Seeker, he felt a spark of happiness. Something he hadn't felt since his mate Miruan and He participated in the Gnawing Games.

In the dark bleak unlikely chance he would even find one. The winds of death begun to pick up. He had not a half star left to live.
His paws had been frosting up. He had to keep moving. He had to keep moving.
The winds blasted the air likes blades that sought to cut up the trees from their very roots. Out of the corner of his eye he saw the faint outline of what seemed to be a cave.
This wasn't any such cave. He had arrived at the Cave of Stars. This was where his mother had died. He had stayed in it for days.

Coldly trudging his paws towards the cave, he fought onward, only thoughts of sleep entering his mind.
He pushed forward through the winds and the cold, slowly making his way to the cave. Upon entering the cave he had noticed the bones of his mother, still lying there as it was years ago.
He moved up clutching one of the bones in his jaw. It had eased the pain in his paws as he slowly drifted off to sleep.

Meanwhile his mate was still searching for her long lost lover. They had told her he had left her and ran off on his own. She fought not to believe such a lie.
Running out to the forest she had still searched for clues, tracks had always been left. And the cold tracks were the ones she had found.
Slowly the scent of her mate was brought to her snout, the trail was faint like a snowflake that had already begun to melt or the whispers of the wind.
That didn't matter to the she-wolf. It was sad enough to be alone in the cold like this. Her heart had already broken once and she could not bare to be left alone again.

The Great Cold

The Great Cold is a land of harsh wilderness with extremely short summers and violent winters. There aren't any willow trees or oak trees. A long river exists that splits the landmass in half.
As of recently the river has cracked and has begun to melt the landmass, breaking it apart slowly.

Beyond the great cold is the kingdom of mouses and the kingdom of cats and owls. Some events that transpired in areas outside of The Great Cold have significance such as the Incense burning of feathers and the Cult of Needles

The Mouse Kingdoms exist northward beyond the ocean of the landmass of The Great Cold. While Eastward Exist the Kingdoms of Cats and Owls.

  • Lonely Ridge: One huge mountain exists in the northern area of The Great Cold. The uppermost part of the ridge is the highest point of the Great Cold.
The Wolves call the highest point the Spine, while the eagles call it the broken wing.

  • Broken Talon Point The Eagles Highest Point, a place in which a group of eagles live and observe the world in "The Forsaken Silence"

  • Lake of Eternal Tears: The Lake of Eternal Tears is said to give visions to those who drink from the lake. 200 years ago, the Great She-wolf, Kali Heathpaw had received the vision of what would later be known as the War of Frost

  • The Whispering Forest of Ruin: Many claim that the Whispering Forest of Ruin is haunted and that those who wander too far into it are absorbed and become angry guardian spirits forced to guard it. Many who have wandered in have been lost forever. Some claim to have seen familiar faces in the forest.

  • The Valley Before Beginnings: A mysterious Valley in which there are paintings depicting The Bright Warmth, a fabled era in which the Great Cold was not covering in eternal winter.

Wolf Society

Wolf Terms and Lore
The Wolves live in groups of different clans. Each Clan has a head chieftain, the highest rank in a clan, where only the chieftain must submit when entering another clan's grounds or in the case of approaching the cairn of the deceased she-wolf Kali Heathpaw out of respect.

Spark-sight: A rare ability in which a wolf can predict events of the future or past by looking at a burning fire. Most wolves who have sparksight learn of this very early, as a fire is lit every day in the center of the clan grounds to present the festivities, announcements and events of the clan for that day.

Kataldalta: Kataldalta are wolves that are born with deformities, such as crooked hips, twisted paws, missing eyes, etc.
If Kataldalta are found by a clan, they will be brought into the clan and given the position of Gnaw Wolf, the lowest position in the clans

Gadderchew: A competition that can occur at any time, the Gadderchew is a competition between the young wolves in their prime where the winner is chosen to become a seeker.

Journey: A journey can be anything, most often an important task that requires a seeker to leave the confines of it's society and venture outwards for a solution.

Stairs To The Great Rest: When a wolf dies, it is a ritual to bury them in a cairn, which allows them to ascend the great stair to the stars sand achieve peace in the afterlife by becoming a star in the sky.
It is however possible for a wolf to fall off the stairs and fail to become a star, which results in their soul being reincarnated.

Blood Desertion: A she-wolf who bears a Kataldalta may choose to desert their young and leave them to die to avoid being deemed the mother of a Kataldalta, often with the claim of their young not surviving being born. While this doesn't always occur and is generally frowned upon, it often happens.

Steadfast: The term of which two wolves become mates for life, binding their lives together forever. In the case of one wolf dying, it however means the other will die unexpectedly as a result.
To become steadfast means to become lovers entangled forever, as upon dying, both wolves will be apart of each-other's star upon climbing the stairs, forever being a part of each-other's constellation.

Wolf Ranks
Chieftain: The Highest Position of A Clan, the chieftain leads the clan and makes most of the important decisions for a clan in dire situations, the chieftain is advised by a group of elders who have since proven their loyalty to the clan. A chieftain is expected to be fair and just, otherwise hostility and disloyalty tends to occur within the clan, which often leads to disputes that end up fracturing a clan's functionality to survive in the harsh world of The Great Cold.

Hound Novas: The hunters of a clan

Seeker: A revered position in which a wolf is allowed to leave the clan along with it's chosen companions to go on a "journey"

Gnaw Wolves: The lowest position of a clan, Gnaw Wolves generally get to eat after all the other ranks.

Skreechers: The guard wolves: They guard the clan grounds and alert the clan of invaders, namely bears or other large animals enough to be a threat to the security of a clan.

Great Healer: A medical wolf that practices the shamanic or spiritual arts in order to provide healing to injured wolves in the clans. Many believe that a medical wolf is somehow gifted with powers.
In actuality these arts just involve scientific and herbal remedies.

Gyddernaws: The general populace of wolves, these can vary from gatherers, mothers, young-lings and so on.

Welcome to my wolf fantasy roleplay. This is something I've been working on for awhile and we'll all be RPing as wolves. There's going to be a tightly woven plot and I really hope this is something that interests you.
If you got any questions I'd be happy to answer them.
