Fantasy Legends of Kanor

Ajisai strained hard against the crushing blow, finding himself grinning as the hammer held. He then went for a sweeping low blow at the knight's legs, putting as much power behind his strike as possible as well as simultaneously causing a stalactite-like spike to grow from the end of the hammer he was swinging, turning it into a powerful pickaxe-like weapon that hopefully could pierce th knight's armor, seeing as it was a weapon from one of the other most powerful spirits.

The knight simply flickflacked backwards, as the hammer would have hit him. A gracile move for the undead looking abyssal. He then dashed to the side using the momentum for a heavy strike from said side, this time not trying to come from above, as that made blocking too easy.

Ajisai's eyes widened at seeing an undead move so gracefully, before reminding himself that what he was facing was far different than what Lianne had been turned into. He took a deep breath and carefully wacthed his movements, catching the knight seeming to move to the side. Ajisai immediately reacted by raising a large chunk of rock from the earth on that side of him, attempting to slam it into the knight as a counter attack, hoping he was quick enough not to get hit.

Artaras got slapped into the face by a big stone shard and stumbled backwards. Then, he shook his head and jumped up yet again, intending to smash his sword down on Ajisai.

It seemed as though Artaras wasn't very creative... Ajisai wondered if he was even sapient, and the thought sent a shiver down the Chosen One's spine as he saw the figure jump up once more. Ajisai decided to try something rather bold, and took a deep breath. Then, he willed the stone beneath his feet to rise as he raised his hammer and meant to collide with the knight as he came down, hoping to stop his strike before it gained much momentum and hopefully cause him to fall.

The knight collided with the hammer, as Ajisai reached up. The knight lost balance and fell to the ground, his sword coming down next to him, the blade sticking deep within the floor. It was hardly possible for a mortal to lift that thing anyways, but not, with it being stuck, it was almost impossible.

The knight seemed stunned for a few seconds, not moving at all. He could also be dead, but from what, right?

Ajisai's eyes widened as his attack had a lot more of an effect on the knight than he had ever thought it might. The sword seemed to dig so deep into the floor that Ajisai doubted if even its wielder could pull it out now. Ajisai was shocked at his own strength.

Ajisai took this opporunity, leaping down from his raised platform while swinging his hammer down, shouting "HAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" It was a heroic sight, right out of a fantasy novel... oh right, he was literally living in one. Ajisai found himself grinning in this thrilling moment, full of confidence and the excitement of this intense battle.

After the cry of war that Ajisai let loose, there was only one sound heard. The sound of the rock crashing into the knights chest. The knight gave a sound that sounded like someone had let out all air from a balloon. Then, he didnt move anymore.

It was just when Ajisai had turned around, that he could hear the sound of metal clanking. When he looked over his shoulder, he saw the knight slowly rising, now having a dark glow around him. The knight shouted out loudly, the abyss being heard in it. Then, he swirled around, pulling out the sword as if it was nothing and in the process hurling a gigantic piece of the marble floor at Ajisai.

Ajisai, adrenaline rushing through his body, was just coming to terms with the fact that he may have just killed this formidable foe when he thought "No, that's too easy..." a bad feeling spreading through his gut. He felt that there must be more enemies coming, and turned to look... only to hear the sound of clanking armor behind him.

Ajisai gritted his tetth, narrowed his eyes and dropped into a defensive stance as the being before him seemed to take a more powerful form. His eyes widened as the beast pulled his sword from the floor easily, making it look like child's play. When he saw a piece of the floor coming for him, his immidiate reaction was to swing his hammer at it and try to reflect it back at him like this was some twisted form of baseball, though much more dangerous. He put all his power behind it, solidifying the stoneskin on his arms to make the swing stronger and hopefully send that massive chunk of marble right back at the massive beast, though he doubted it would do much.

The knight looked at the stone and just stood there as it hit him right in the face, throwing him backwards. But the knight just got up again, starting to sprint towards Ajisai, suddenly starting to slide on the thick flim of the weird dark liquid he left everywhere he stepped and that he spread while attacking. His sword was frontally aimed at Ajisai´s chest.

Ajisai was hopeful that he'd actually done a number on his foe, but seeing how quickly the knight got up after that, his hopes were soon dashed. Seeing how quickly the creature dashed towards him, he had little time to react. He reflexively raised another platform just high enough to hopefully have the knight strike just below him, subsequently attempting to smash the top of his helmet with the now-spiked end of his hammer.

The Knight got.struck in the head by the spike and he seemed surprised. His head turned upwards looking at Ajisai. Then, he tried to reach up to his head, but collapsed beforehand.

Ajisai didn't have long to celebrate. "Great job, but you will still concede." The prince's voice was arrogant. His men were just rushing through the door. The princes figure was hidden behind Xiana's struggling, gagged body, as he was holding an ornate dagger to her throat. "Get rid of that hammer or birdie is dead."

Ajisai shook with a combination of disbelief and a deep sense of victory as he saw and felt the heavily-armored and powerful knight below him fall to his hammer, just like that. He can't believe he defeated such a being... he could sense that if Artaras had gotten just one good hit in, he might've been done for... but he won, somehow.

His victory was short-lived however, as he soon heard the door slamming open and the prince's arrogant tone. Ajisai turned, hammer ready, towards him, only to stop in his tracks as he took in the sight of Xiana, bound nad gagged, with a dagger to her throat. Ajisai's fists clenched around the hammer's hilt as he was ordered to drop said weapon, glaring hatefully at the prince before finally, out of a sense of duty to protect his friend, he dropped the hammer. He then moved to Lianne's side and took her hand, glancing into her eyes with a hopeful, encouraging look, shooting the same look towards Xiana shortly after. He was going to find a way out fo this for the three of them... he had to.

The guard knights moved in on Ajisai and Lianne, more coming. There were about five close to the chosen one, while about 10 were scattered around the room. They all held big two handed swords. THere did not seem a way to get out, as Xiana was held.

But Xiana was already at it, as she slowly cut the ropes that held her with a feather, unnoticed by the prince. Then, it went fast. XIana suddenly twisted in the prince´s hands, taking the feather out of his hand and turning around, so their positions were swapped. Then, she said one of the few words in the human language she knew. "Die." The feather quickly cut through the prince´s throat and the guards turned to face Xiana, except for the five that had by now restrained Ajisai and Lianne with ropes and chains.

Xiana saw how two knights front to her started to run to her, but feathers soon found their way to the guards heads, right through the vision slits of the helmets. Two more were coming from the sides, and Xiana bent backwards, almost looking like in the Matrix movies, as the swords barely went over her stomach. Instead of getting up however, she started to stand on her hands, wrapping her legs around one guards neck and pulling him around, against the other one, making both topple to the floor. She quickly got on her feed again, landing on top of them. One good aimed feather finished them both. But Xiana didn´t have time to feel cool, as another guard was charging in, just as two were coming from the front. Xiana jumped up into the air, floating as she threw 5 feathers, each taking out one guard. That was when her cape was empty. No feathers left. The last one, left of the ten, was now confidently moving in. "What are you gonna do, huh?", he teasingly asked. XIana of course didn´t understand. But her eyes suddenly started to glow, as all feathers did the same. Then, they all flew back to her, a decent number taking the path through the guards body. Xiana spun gracefully, as all feathers were placed on her cloak again. The guard stared at his body in disbelieve and then fell to the ground, dead.

Now, only the five around Ajisai and Lianne were left. Xiana looked at them confidently, giving them the generally understood "come at me" sign with her hand. The soldiers obviously were uncertain, but two indeed charged, only to be taken out by two feathers. The other three, now more careful started to move in as a group. Xiana got striked at from three sides, but she managed to dodge two attacks by dashing sidewards, as the deflected the last with a dagger. She quickly grabbed the guard, placing three hurtful stabs in his side, exactly where chestplate and armored legs connected, where no armor was. Then she "ran" him up, her feet running up his chestplate and then placing a kick to his helmet, sending him to the ground to bleed out, while XIana landed after her spontanous backflip. The other two now went each at one side, trying to strike at the same time again, but Xiana dashed to the front and stabbed them both in the armors weak spot at the throat. She once again pulled her feathers towards her and walked up to Ajisai, freeing him and Lianne. Out of nowwhere, she kissed him. She grinned. "I know you love Lianne, but this one was my reward." Then, she looked at the door. "We should leave."

Ajisai hung his head low as he waited for the seeming inevitability of his capture. What would happen now? Would they be executed? Tortured? Sold to the highest bidder? His heart dropped more with every single subsequent thought he had about the bleak-looking future. Suddenly however, he caught a sight out of the corner of his eyes. The sight of Xiana suddenly freeing her arms. After that very moment, Ajisai could only watch Xiana in awe as she gracefully slit the prince's throat as if such a high-profile target was nothing. Granted, the boy didn't seem like the type to know how to defend himself very well, more like command others to protect him like he did everything else, which didn't work against as assassin like Xiana.

Ajisai could barely keep up with his eyes as he saw Xiana took out guard after guard after guard. He was so mesmerized that he didn't think to try and free himself to help her... though she didn't seem to need it anyway. He simply stood protectively in front of Lianne as he watched the bloody scene before him in disbelief.

Ajisai found himself standing in a room full of dead guards plus one dead prince a few short breaths later, smiling as he was freed. He opened his mouth to thank her only for Xiana to take his open mouth as invitation for a kiss, causing his eyes to widen. Ajisai thought that he was unable to be shocked by her further... but he was very wrong indeed. He stared at her blankly for a few seconds, mouth still open wide, blushing profusely. "W-well....you're welcome, Xiana..." was all he brought himself to say. That kiss was admittedly breathtaking, but mostly because of the surprise. It was still nothing like kissing Lianne. Speaking of which, he found himself looking back towards Lianne with a rather fearful look, hoping that the kiss hadn't made her jealous.

As Xiana said they should leave, his head snapped back to her and he nodded, taking Lianne's hand. "You're right, let's go."

The three of them ran like hell out of the castle, through backstreets, trying to escape the town before the Prince's formidable army found his corpse among those of his guard', and the corpse of Artamas.

Once the Trio had gotten a fair distance from the town, Ajisai stopped in a rather hidden clearing and suggested the three of them rest, deciding that it was safe to stay there. While the three of them rested, Ajisai and Lianne likely resting close together, Ajisai brought out a map. "Well... we can't go back there, obviously... though I'm not sure where to go now. Just heading back to the castle seems pointless. What would we do? We're trying to save the world, right? So... ahah, there's another village down the road a few mile.s Let's see if they need any help."

The other two assumedly agreeing, Ajisai began walking. As they went, he thanked Xiana again for her amazing work at setting them free, and for sticking with him through all of this. He kind of felt bad for her... the bird-girl might have feelings for him, and it was clear that his heart wanted Lianne. Still, Xiana seemed very independent and to greatly prefer relying on only herself, so maybe she would be alright. She may not even have feelings for him and the kiss was just a show of gratitude. Ajisai didn't know, and he certainly wasn't going to ask her straight up. He just hoped that Xiana could find someone soon.

This and many other things were always on Ajisai's mind as the trio made the trek to the nearby villiage, and he was very glad when they finally got there early one evening. However, something seemed off. There was no one in the streets, the town seeming deserted. "Where is everybody?" Ajisai asked, mostly talking to himself, as he held Lianne's hand while entering the empty village square and looking to see any buildings that seem to have activity in them.

Off in the distance as the sun set, he saw a lone young girl, shaking with fear. "Hey!" He called out to her. The girl turned towards him, then all of a sudden, something leaped out at her. It seemed to materialize out of truly nowhere, and was a human-esque being seeming to be made of some kind of purple, glowing energy. The girl screamed and ran, but the floating, clawed, deformed-looking being simply swiped at her with its claws.

Ajisai summoned his hammer and ran towards the creature, but it soon grabbed the girl hed her firmly in its grip. Immediately, something strange began to happen. The girl screamed in pain as she was somehow seemingly absorbed into the strange pruple being. Ajisai ran even faster, but it happened so fast that she was gone before he go there, and in anger slammed his hammer upon the beast. It seemed hurt, but retaliated with a claw strike he was barely able to dodge. "Careful, Ajisai," Limar's voice said to him. This looks like the work of the Ancient of Arcane... her name is lost to time, but she was always one of the most feared."

More strange purple creatures suddenly appear before the trio, making it a 3 on 3 battle.

Xianna immediatly backed off and started hurling out her feathers. They flew towards one of the beasts, intending to pull it away. Lianne, who had her equipment again, drew her blades. She started dashing towards the first enemy, her deadly dance beginning, as she swirled around and tried to aim strikes on her enemy. It looked good for her, until one moment. her guard was down and she took a hit. Red blood splashed to the ground, as she clamped to her side, where she was bleeding. The creature used the weak moment to start and absorb the poor princess of light, that started to scream, then, suddenly silence, as she was gone.

Xiana was as well loosing her battle and it assumedly wasnt looking too good for Ajisai either. That was until a booming voice went through the city. The blood stains every here and there started to glow. "This madness has went for long enough..." Red creatures started to rise from the blood stains, forming female forms, weilding Katana´s. They dashed to a beast each, suddenly knocking the beasts up in the air, each bloody being pushing them down with the edge of their weapon, smashing them and making them disappear for good. Then, the three beings united to create one, red silver and black clothed being, that looked almost human now, except for the eyes. The being just sat down on the ground and took a blade of grass , starting to blow it and creating a melody.

Ajisai fought hard against the creature that had swallowed up that poor girl, smashing it as best he could. He couldn't seem to damage the thing; it was as if it was made of some goopy, malleable material that absorbed blunt blows wonderfully, to Ajisai's dismay. Then, he heard a cry of pain from Lianne, and his eyes widened as he saw that she was injured. Impulsively ignoring the creature at his back, he ran like hell towards her so as not to let the same thing happen to her as had happened to that girl, but sadly Limar, being of earth, could not grant him speed and Lianne quickly started to disappear into the beast. Seconds later, she was seemingly comepletely abosorbed, just like the young girl before her. "No... Lianne!" He called out, before suddenly anger overcame him once more and he charged into battle once again, now taking on two of them.

The next moment, something even more strange and incomprehensible than these monstrous purple beings formed seemingly out of Lianne's blood, and each destroyed one of the nasty creatures in no time. Ajisai stood there, shaking in both anger and disbelief, his mouth agape. Ajisai blinked as if to confirm he was actually seeing what he was seeing as the beings formed one hooded woman, who sat down and began playing a tune with a piece of grass. "Who.... who are you?" Ajisai breathed, before moments later, whatever her answer was, he remembered something. "I-I need to find the other townsfolk, excuse me."

Just as he said that, he noticed several pairs of eyes peeking out the window of a nearby inn. "There they are..." Ajisai looked down and clenched his fists. 'But Lianne..." A tear began trickling down his face. She was gone. right before his eyes, she was gone. A sad numbness began settling over him, but Ajisai still somehow thought to thank the strange woman, and he met eyes with her, trying desperatly not to appear on the edge of tears as much as he was just that."Oh, I should thank you.... we would've all been... goners if you hadn't come. Though I feel like I should've been too..." Ajisai looked down again. "Lianne..." he whispered, beginning to sob and trying to pull himself together.

Xiana only watched. Stunned. Sad. Not able to deal with the feeling of loosing someone close to her yet again. She was that close to breaking down, memories of her brother filling her mind. She simply leaned against a wall and the usually so strong girl started to cry.

Meanwhile, the unknown savior got up and walked to Ajisai. She reached her hand out to his bag and pulled out a sheet of paper. Then, she wordlessly ran her hand over the paper, turning it completely red and bloody. The paper got soaked. She put the blade of grass upon it, that was completely red as well. She put both on his one hand, taking the other one and laying it on top, signalizing to keep both things and never lose them. She took another blade of grass and played two notes, easy to remember, then nodded to him. Then, she backed off, drew her blade and extended her right arm towards Ajisai. Her left arm got folded in and layed on the right ones elbow, a fist being made. She lowered her head to look at the ground. In that weird gesture of salute, she started to dissolve. Xiana was still crying, leaving Ajisai stand alone with the two bloodstained items in his hand.

Ajisai glanced over at the devastated Xiana, his gaze as empathetic as it was sad. He'd have to move on from this soon., somehow, if he was to be strong for her, the only friend he had left now...

As the woman approached him wordlessly, Ajisai looked to her with a questioning look hidden among his sadness. He could only stand there in confusion as she thrust two odd, bloodstained objects into his hands. He looked down at them, blinking confusedly, then back up at her, still confused. He recorded the two notes the grass made in his mind, deciding the keep the paper and grass. He supposed he'd know what to do with them soon. He marveled at her odd gesture, ti seeming like some kind of otherworldly pursuit, then his eyes widened as she began t vanish. "Wait! Don't go!" he didn't want this new friend to go too, after Lianne.... but she faded away, and Ajisai started to sob.

Pulling himself together after a few moments and deeply feeling as if he should be doing something, he went to Xiana. Knowing that words would likely to niether of them good, he wrapped his arms around her gently. He stayed like that as long as it took her to calm down a little, then he stepped back. "I'm.... gooing to go see what all the townsfolk are up to. If you want to come with, go ahead." He lifted her chin up and looked into her eyes lovingly for a moment, before he stepped into the nearby inn.

"Why was that girl out there by herself?" Ajisai asked the moment he was let in. Everyone looked down, seemingly ashamed. An old man stepped forward and said, "if we let them have one of us, they leave the rest alone..." Ajisai glared at the man. "But... a little girl?! Why not those that are dying or crippled?" "None of us like that left," the old man simply stated. Ajisai sighed and looked down, clenching his fists. "Cowards..." truth be told, his behavior was due to losing Lianne so suddenly, he normally wouldn't react the way he was about to, but he glared the man straight in the eyes. "Well, regardless I won't be protecting this town no matter how much you all look at me hopefully. You make me sick. I'll defeat the one who makes those creatures, but until then, I hope they take some of you sick people with them."

Ajisai barged out of the inn and went to Xiana. "Come Xiana, we're leaving." His tone was gentle, though it was clear that he was furious about something. "Xiana..." he whispered as they walked. "There's no way in hell I'm going to lose you too. I will stay by your side." He looking over at her passionately. She was all Ajisai had left... he lost his Earth family by ending up in this book, lost Phantomia shortly after, and then lost Lianne shortly after it seemed that the pair would have a wonderful future together. He tried not to think about all of this and focus on his surroundings as he headed through the bleak nighttime towards the horizon, towards any sign of the one who made those arcane creatures. He was going to make their leader pay for the things they have done, and he still held out al little bit of hope that Lianne was alive somehow and that he'd find her there, unharmed, as impossible as that seemed.
