{JKthegreat & KneelingAngel} Everything is Not as it Seems...

I didn't get any response as I called, which I though was unusual, seeing as though Sarah should be in bed. I grabbed a bottle of water, downed it in a few gulps before quietly climbing the stairs and entering Sarah's room, thinking that she was sleeping and almost not making a single sound. She was buried in pillows and sheets, so I assumed that I was right with my earlier assumption. I carefully placed the bag of medicine and her new phone on the table next to her bed, and turned to make my way out of the room.

I heard the door open and slowly turned around seeing as Oliver was about to leave the room again. "Hey." I said and looked at him. It was clear that we needed to talk but I didn't know how to start it. I had to figure out when we would talk, I didn't really know what to say or how Oliver would react when he was acting so weird. "You were gone for a pretty long time, you okay?" I asked him, hoping he would tell me since I now knew that he liked me. I sat up and moved to hug him. Everything was so weird between us, I wanted it to be back to the way it was before.

I tensed up a little when she hugged me, but it only took me a few seconds to realize how stupid that was and hug her back. "Yeah...just a lot to think about, you know" I said quietly into her ear "Gotta think through all of it and not lose my mind in the process." I paused for a bit before continuing with the next part "I also...uh" I said, stuttering a bit "Saw that guy from the club last night..." I backed up a bit so I could look at her, just to see her response before I said anymore.

I looked up at him with a small smile. She wanted to ask him if he was thinking about the person he loved, but then he mentioned the guy from last night which caused me to tense up. "What did you do?" I asked him carefully. I would be really proud of him if he just walked away. I looked at his hands and didn't see any marks or bruises, did he electrocute the guy? Yeah the guy from last night was a bad person, but that didn't mean that he had to die.

"Before you start lecturing me" I said, smiling a little as I spoke "I didn't touch him. I was about to, but then I remembered that I made a promise to you that I wouldn't. If I had promised anyone else that same thing, that guy would be in the Intensive Care Unit right now." My hand instinctively moved to the side of her face, my thumb gently stroking her cheek as I spoke "But because it was you, I couldn't break that promise..."

I smiled softly at him and looked at his handsome face. I'm so proud that he hadnt done it. I know that it hadnt been easy for him, but I'm glad that he had remembered his promise. I blushed slightly when I felt his hand of my face, now that I knew that he liked me his touch just felt so much different in a good way. I bit my lip slightly before I quickly leaned up and pecked his lips. "That's for keeping your promise." I said as I felt my face go red.

As she kissed me again this time, even shorter than the first time, I didn't turn into a babbling idiot like I did the first time. I could have kissed her full-on right there and then, and that's exactly what I wanted to do, but if I was going to take this road, after I thought I had been so certain that I was going to keep my feeling for her hidden, to keep our incredible friendship intact, my mind was slowly starting to change, and that peck was the last push I needed. But I couldn't do it now. It needed to be more special than this. It was Sarah, after all. So instead, I grinned, pulled her into a tight hug and said "I never intend to break a promise I make to you. I...well I promise."

I happily hugged Oliver back and sighed happily. That he wouldnt break a promise to me meant a lot. I've been having trust issues ever since she got kidnapped and taken to the facility. I knew she could trust Oliver, but the fact that he kept his promise made me trust him so much more. "Thanks Oliver, it means a lot to me." I smiled and pulled back from his hug. "What time is it, I'm getting hungry again." I laughed softly and grabbed the medicine he had gotten. I gasped seeing the phone. "Oh my god, it's so pretty." I said with a smile from ear to ear and hugged Oli again. "Thank you Oli, you're the best!"

"Well hope you didn't just figure that out" I said with a grin as I pulled away and winked at her "Cause that's pretty obvious. Anyway, I'm gonna go take a shower. Hope I bought something that helps you out, because I had pretty much no idea what to get." I moved quickly into my room and grabbed some spare clothes from my dresser, before heading to the shower and making it as cold as I could, loving the feeling of the water washing away the grime from my run.

I nodded and watched Oliver head to the bathroom. "I'm sure he got something that would help." I said to myself as I sat down on the bed and looked over the medicine. I grabbed some advil and vitamins before I moved to grab a bottle of water downstairs. Moving back to bed I got settled in an took the medicine. I wrapped the covers around me and got warmed up as I turned on the tv, waiting for Oli to get back. I was feeling a whole lot better already, his hugs helped a lot.

I reluctantly turned the shower off after a long while and threw on my clothes. I went back to Sarah's room and crashed out on the bed next to her. "Its like three in the afternoon." I half said half moaned, propping my head up on my arms so I could see the tv "And I'm already completely finished. How am I gonna last with Ronnie's training if I can't even handle some running and shopping, nevermind being a vigilante."

I laughed softly at Oliver and looked at him as he dropped himself beside me. "Don't be a bog baby, you'll be fine." I smiled and leaned back against the headboard as I watched X-Men. That movie seemed so weird now, knowing that both Oliver and I had powers. I sighed softly and pouted in thought. "What do you think those bad guys are up to?" I asked out of the blue. It just seemed strange that they hadnt tried to frame us as criminals or something... That's at least always what happened in the movies.

"Probably looking for us" I said matter-of-factly, not really wanting to talk about it, but knowing that it wouldn't be long before we saw them again "If they wanted to go through that much trouble to eradicate that base and everyone in it, I'm sure they won't stop until they're sure that no one survived, including us." I sighed loudly and rubbed my eyes, the feeling of anxiousness and stress that I had managed to keep out for the past few hours creeping into me once again.

I bit my lip and nodded at Oliver. I could see that he was getting more stressed out and anxious again, everything was going to be fine he shouldn't work himself up. I moved to hug him and smiled softly before pulling back and looking at him. "Stop worrying so much." I said and moved my hand through his hair. "Everything will be fine, we made it this far. You shouldn't worry too much about if." I said with a reinsuring smile, I didn't want him freaking out.

I nodded and slowly sat up on the edge of the bed as I contemplated...well everything. "Its difficult not to worry, though" I said, the ridiculousness of our situation once again glaring me in the face "So much is being put on our shoulders, and we've only been aware of all of this for the better part of a month. Everything just...hit us so quickly. Sometimes it overwhelms you a little, you know? Anyways, I'm fine. Just gonna take me awhile longer to adjust."

I bit my lip and tried not to think of the horrors that we're gonna come our way. I always decided not to think about it knowing that it would make me panic. I shifted next to him and hugged him from the side. "I just don't want you stressing out about it, you'll need you energy for other things by then. They're not the brightest, we've outsmarted them before so well do it again." I said with a small smile and put some friendly space in between us. He didn't really respond to my kiss before other then giving me a hug, so it probably wasn't me that he liked. I didn't want to seem clingy or touchy when he liked someone else and make in uncomfortable between us. I didn't mind though, I didn't was to lose him so I would push my own tiny feelings to the side.

I smiled and took her hands in mine, looking into her eyes again. "As long as we stick together we'll make it through, i know that much" I said, squeezing her hands slightly "Plus, you know, the whole mad scientist butler may help a little." As if on cue, the door swung open to reveal a very bright looking Ronnie, who still had goggles on from something he had been working on. "Okay, you kids have had your break, now come down to the lab with me, we need to get you kitted out." He said, brandishing a huge grin "And, by god, what was all that medicine for? You understand that I am very close to curing multiple 'Incurable' diseases, which means I have a table that fits on the tip of a needle that will cure the common cold in seconds. I thought you guys would catch on quicker." He threw a rustic box of tiny tablets at Sarah and disappeared once again. "Well...now I feel useless" I said with a slight chuckle as I let go of her hands "I'll see you down there." With that, I rushed off after Ronnie.

((It would be useful if you posted a pic of what you want your kit to look like in your next post, I'll do the same in my next one :D ))

I smiled at Oliver and our hands. He was so sweet. I laughed when he mentioned Ronnie and jumped back a little, he really was crazy. "Kitted out?" I asked him. I pulled a face when he handed me a box with different medicine and pushed it away once he left the room again. "I don't know if I trust your doctors medical skills." He mumbled to Oliver so Ronnie wouldn't hear. I got out of bed and pulled him up with me before I walked down the basement with him and to Ronnie who was still acting like his mad self. "Are you going to show us different outfits like Etna Mode from the Incredibles?" I joked. When he didn't laugh in shook my head. "Never mind. So what do you have for us?" I asked him.

(Looking for an outfit now^^)

((Ignore the quiver and arrows ( :P )))

"That all depends on you..." He said mysteriously, as he ushered me into a chair next to a large machine. He placed a metal thing on my head, which I thought was a little cliche, and continued with "Alright so just think of anything that you want to look like when you're out there. Just imagine it." I thought about protesting, but shut my mouth quickly and thought better of it. Well, I wanna be the stealthy type I contemplated So something like this would be pretty cool...

Within a few moments, an image appeared on the screen in front of me that was exactly what I had been picturing. "Interesting choice" Ronnie said, smiling madly again "I'll make it light but protective. I know the perfect material. With your acrobatic skills, not to mention your quick fighting technique, it will fit you perfectly." He ushered me off the machine and looked over at Sarah, waiting impatiently for her to sit down.

I waited until Oliver was done. It was awesome how he trusted Ronnie and his weird inventions. I waited until he was done and sat down when it was my turn and thought a little bit what I wanted to look like. I had to find something that was light and quiet. I couldn't have anything load or heavy on me if I climbed the ceiling. It didn't necessarily have to be protective because I had my shield. It did have to be distracting in case I accidentally got caught. Maybe something like this. Oh and I would need a mask to cover my identity, it would be horrible if they knew who we were.

(Mask only covers one part of Sarah's face.)

"That's what I want." I said and looks at the two guys.

"I can make that happen" Ronnie said, rubbing his chin thoughtfully as he examined the image "Doesn't leave you with much room for protection, but you will movement will not be hindered at all, and I guess with your power, you don't really need protection in the kit.. If that's what you want, we can go for it. They'll both be done by tomorrow morning. In the meantime ,you guys should get an evening training session in on your powers, because tomorrow this all gets very real very quickly. And get an early night tonight. It seems like last night hit you guys pretty hard." I gave him a nod and a smile before exiting, as he carefully studied each image on the screen.

I walked out and let Ronnie be his weirdo self. I wondered what he mean when he said that everything was gonna get very real very fast. Did that mean that we were going to get attacked soon or something would happen. I walked to the training area with Oli. "What do you think he meant with that last frase?" I asked him as I kicked off my shoes and moved to a one of the training areas especially designed for my shield. I could really fight like Oliver could so I wanted to train what I had and maybe have Oliver teach me how to fight later if he wanted to.

"I think he just means that we really get into things tomorrow" I said, closing my eyes as I felt the sparks build up between my fingers "You know, we've had it pretty easy so far, not that we didn't deserve a break, but tomorrow we start our training as the vigilantes of California. And with the amount of crime that goes on in this place, we're gonna have our hands full." The wall that was built to train my power had a voltage meter set up next to it. When I struck the wall with my power, the meter would go fill up depending on how much power I put into it. There were markings on the meter, showing me when I was so low that I would hardly injure someone, when I could injure them but they would maintain their consciousness, when I would knock them out and finally when I would kill them. My aim was to be able to control in which sector it would fill up myself, by learning how to regulate my strikes. I took my first attempt, and the meter hardly even budged. "This is gonna take some time" I muttered to myself, as I charged up again.
