"I don't believe it" Sal muttered loudly, the woman's smile glinting from underneath her hood
"ya don't HAVE to, as it's done" came the answer from the driver. A man whose name is known as Durga, big scary man who couldn't help but smile wide and creepy. Yahno wasn't used to seeing the hulk of a man grin. "I can't believe no one died... no one spotted... Reyona must be as they say. The kingdom is being torn from the inside"
Smoke trailed from Yahnos mouth as he leant to ash his pipe outside the wagon he sat in. It was a sturdy wooden thing with walls and a roof to hide the cargo. A large green crystal almost five feet tall,
A God Stone... the kingdom of Reyonas connection to the gods, taken from their holy church... This theft will go down in history, the kingdom of Reyona was already starting to fall into riots and worse. A spy rumoured to have infiltrated the Magic knights, killing nobles and fellow Knights... There's even talk that the Queen is being targeted by her own family scheming for the throne. Alot went through Yahno's mind as he stared at the cargo. This Godstone being sold to the guild, it meant Yahno Sal and Durga would never need to work again. It meant fine booze and food, new women and sources of music constantly. Life like a lazy god. It seemed to good to be true, yet here sits a Godstone in the dirty clutches of the greatest thieves never seen in Reyona, maybe even on Aerth.

But elsewhere, on a planet where magic and gods are considered fiction, souls are being chosen... These souls from Earth are being given a odd experience at said moment. They opened their eyes to darkness, despite not being able to see, you can tell others are close. Suddenly before your eyes appears red text. Each line appears and trails away into smoke after you have read it, to go back and look at the beginning is impossible but luckily the text moves at individual speeds for everyone.

You died.
Doesn't matter how but your time on earth has ended...
You and others in the same situation,
that situation being death
Have been chosen from a pool of souls at random.
You can either choose to pass on,
which I'm sad to inform you all religions got it wrong.
Pastafarian ironically being the closest to the truth out of all earth beliefs but only cause it's a mess as... Never mind...
If you choose to pass on this version of you is no more...

But. If you agree to be chosen,

You can live again!
In a new body with all the knowledge you have acquired...
The world will be different
But you will learn quickly,
your soul having lived a previous lifetime
will begin anew stronger then the average person...
there is magic in this world...
Once you live again you have the potential to become a hero but ultimately the choice is yours.
You can help people or you could make the world a terrible place to live.

It may be hard,
Yes.
But anything worth doing usually is...
Before you is sheet of paper, you need to sign it to enter this new world. All you need to do is pick up the pen.

A beautiful red feather already dipped with ink appears infront of you as does a contract in a writing you cannot understand, but may look familiar if you are into fantasy games/movies/anime.
You do understand that there is a space for you to sign your name near the bottom.
Do You sign It?

The darkness swallowed the bright light that burned faintly now in Ren's mind. He couldn't remember what that light was, until he saw the first words appear before him.

He died, and he recalled it all at once. His unit moving to support another base, driving through that wretched desert. Not a single enemy combatant in sight. He knew something was wrong and shouted for them to stop. Just a little too late, as the front of the convoy tripped the IED. An explosion that ate up everything too close, that's what that bright light was. All at once, the pain shot through his body again. The feeling of shrapnel lodging itself into his organs. The heat of the explosion. The impact on his broken bones.

And it faded as quickly as it came, Ren's eyes following the rest of the words as they appeared, finally ending at the contract he couldn't read. It was a bad decision, an awful one really, to be signing contracts you can't read. But as Ren looked around at the endless darkness, he soon realized...

...he didn't really have another choice. He didn't believe in any kind of God or afterlife, but thought if there was a God, he must be evil. He was more comfortable taking his chances with a new world with his current knowledge than gambling on an afterlife he couldn't possibly know the smallest thing about. At least with this offer of a new world, he'd have a body he understood.

He takes the pen.

As the souls from Earth signed there name the paper began to glow, the moment their name was written the contract folded into itself numerous times to the size of a standard rectangular business card. A white card sporting a fancy gold border with your name on both sides of the white card in a fancy font.
The red text appears again.
great,
you made the right choice.
you shall awaken on the Aerth,
said like Earth but spelled different...
Like all worlds with magic that people get reincarnated into,
everyone speaks Japanese with English subtitles.
ha, just a joke don't worry.
the contract you signed is proof you are sent by the gods,
it will translate the language you hear and also yourself
so communication is no problem.

to aid you in your journey the gods have gifted you a weapon and a power.
your weapon is apart of you, it will grow and change as you do,
adapting to this new world and it's challenges.
you cannot wield any weapon but a gift from the gods...

your power is a blessing, but it consumes your mana.
ah right...
mana is magic, all things on Aerth have magic.
so you souls will have two,
also a sign of being sent by the gods.
you'll learn when your there.

there's two rules,
you can only use a god given gift.
You are unable to fight another with a god given gift,
Unless you challenge them to a duel.

Adapt, survive, fight evil,
and remember to praise the gods.

Then it was darkness again, for a brief moment however... You can see others, at least twenty people. Men women, adults children and teens. You all float suspended over a massive planet, it looks similar to earth but larger. Through the clouds you can notice the land masses look nothing like Earth however. It was amazing to view, but it was a small beautiful calm before the shock of having your very soul hurtle towards the ground.View attachment 634211
Where these souls would land? Nobody knows. The gods do, and three thieves have a vague idea as well.
Yahno could only mutter the beginnings of his surprise. "hey the-"
Before he could finish his observation the Godstone began to float and glow bright. A concussive wave of red energy rippled from the crystal decimating the wagon into wooden shards and debris as the thieves and horses were thrown in different directions a good ten feet from the now levitating glowing green crystal, a voice could be heard as the crystal began to sprout red cracks.

what? No... no... oh you idiot wastes... what have you done? How did you... Why would You? You know gods exist!
we have these stones to speak to you dumb heretic fucks!! You know we send souls from other worlds, the gods show their power frequently enough for you stupid mortals to know not to defy us!!

"Kill it!!" Durga screamed as he stumbled into a running charge, his punch could break a castle wall with the mana inside that monster, but as his fist touched the green stone a flash of red appeared, and Durga was replaced with dust. Sal screamed bloody murder as the stone cracked further, her lover gone in a flash resulted in a confused rage as she tried to crush the stone with telekinesis, the stone cracked more visibly and Sal to was dust.
As Yahno raised his hands with thunder crackling a voice chuckled.
You remind me of the girl
"What girl?"
the girl who died
"Li..like Durga and Sal?"
well they defied me
"and i won't?"
I'll make sure of it...
As a soul flashed onto Aerth infront of Yahno...
The Godstone broke, a green shard with a red glow in the middle of it flew and embedded itself into Yahno's chest, leaving a hole in his armour and clothes but oddly not his flesh. The pain caused Yahno to fall to ground screaming until he had to take a breath for air.

A earth soul found themselves on a dirt trail in the country, it looked nothing like Earth howeverView attachment 634222
In the distance is strange mountains, a Forrest to your immediate left, two piles of dust at your feet and a man in pain clutching at his chest like he could maybe pull out magic shrapnel. It's dark, highlighting the stars littered about the sky and how the moon is oddly green.
