"I would prefer something like rum and cola, but if that isn't an option an ale is just fine." Jayce says simply. He looks over at Aenera, "I do not mind if you smoke." He looked around the pub to take in his surroundings. It seemed like a nice enough place based on first impressions.

Hekate smelled the food immediately and really wanted some. If she wasn't controlling herself, she'd probably be drooling a bit. Once she sat down, she thought of what drink she was going to get. Soon enough, it was her turn to order a drink. She didn't really put much thought into it, so she just said what she had prepared a little while ago just incase she didn't think further. "Uh, I'll just get mango juice a little mix of rum in it." She said. Then, Aenera asked if she could smoke. She preferably did mind but she wasn't going to let that ruin the groups' mood. She just shrugged and replied back to Aenera. "Go ahead. Ooh, try to make a smoke hoop or something." She asked jokingly but it'd be pretty cool if Aenera can do it.

Jax is glad that they are going last, because there are so many options for a drink that they're almost paralyzed by choice. When it's finally their turn, they're startled into action. "Uh, a gin and tonic please!" They say, a little louder than even they expected to be. After that's over, they turn slightly at Aenera's question. They frown, but shake their head no. They also mind but aren't willing to stick out and say so.

Since Aenera felt that Jax didn't completely agree to her smoking but still said they didn't mind, Aenera tried to be considerate and keep the smoke away from Jax.

The barmaid took notes of what everybody wanted, coming back a minute later with an ashtray for Aenera. Aenera took out a long pipe and a little baggy filled with fine cut manaherb. She stuffed the pipe with manaherb and lit it with a weak fire spell. She blew a smoke hoop away from the table. It was made of a pretty dense white smoke, so it lasted pretty long. "The cool part about manaherb is that proficient magic users can make different colored smoke." Aenera said, kind of relaxed from the manaherb. She then blew a blue hoop and then a red hoop through the blue one.

She gazed around the pub. It seemed there was only one other person smoking from a pipe. "Is it me or has the use of manaherb gotten rare here?" Aenera asked. Kren then replied: "Manaherb and pipes has become sort of an old school high wizard thing nowadays. Students and young mages only drink booze and occasionally do a small dose of crystal magic.

The barmaid came back with the drinks and set them on the table according to how they were ordered. "If you need more time to order food, just write it down on this paper and I will come fetch your order once I see the paper on the corner of the table." The barmaid said, putting a form on the table and then tending to another table. Aenera wrote down the meat platter with crinkle cut potatoes for Yfirryn and the mountain buffalo breaded cutlet with winesauce and garden greens for her. Kren went for two meat skewers and chips (crisps).

An older mage passed the table just as Aenera exhaled some smoke. "Watch where you blow that! You damn wizards think you can do anything you want!" The cranky mage said. Aenera then replied with a smirk: "Had you just complained about the smoke, I would have politely apologized. But damn wizard? I don't even have that title, but would love to have it. If you are going to fight me over a little smoke, I will have to put you in your place." Kren then said: "Don't get too cocky. Anyways this is no place for fights, especially those of the arcane type." The cranky mage then noticed Kren and bowed: "I beg my pardon, professor. I didn't intend to be rude to your guest."

"Guest? Well I am more her guest now. She's an old friend of mine." Kren said still trying to stay polite to all parties. "She will try to be more considerate in the future." "Professor, you have quite the status." Aenera said with a grin, almost seeming mockingly mischievous. The cranky mage bowed and then left the table.

Aenera then lifted her drink and toasted: "To a great time in the capital!" Yfirryn and Kren joined in.

Afterwards, Kren leaned over to Aenera and muttered into her ear: "That Jayce guy is quite the curious one and maybe you should come clean with him and the others. You consider them friends don't you?" "Come clean about what? You sure are silly, Kren!" Aenera said out loud for the others at the table to hear. Kren then tried once more, trying to keep it quiet enough for the others to not hear: "Don't play dumb! You know what? The exact thing I swore to not tell others about." "Ugh, you are persistent." Aenera said then whispering to him: "Fine. But only if they ask. But like you, they would have to take it to the grave."

"Anyways, how do you guys like the capital so far? Sitting here at a pub reminds me of the good old times, back when I was a student." Aenera asked to the others. Yfirryn responded: "It is nice here. Everything is so big here. Much larger than back home. Only difference is that I know almost nobody here." "You at least have me, Jayce, Jax and Hekate." Aenera said to Yfirryn. "But friends are like family, right?"

Yfirryn blushed. "Yes, like family." He said and smiled to the others. To Yfirryn, it felt like Jayce was more than a friend, almost like a brother. He never really had male friends who werent related to him though. Aenera could read Yfirryn like a book. He constantly seemed kind of weird the entire trip. Yfiryyn embraced Jayce's arm and said: "I have never had a male friend who wasn't a brother or cousin before." "Yfirryn, you shouldn't just touch people without asking." Aenera said. Yfirryn then let go of Jayce, sinking his head. "Oh, I- I'm sorry."

Jayce was visibly caught off guard by Yfirryn grabbing his arm, but quickly shook it off. he chuckles, "I guess it's fine, I'm not upset. We're friends right? It's really not a big deal really." Jayce decided to brush it off, Yfirryn wasn't used to being around others outside his home community so it likely didn't mean anything. He wanted to have friends but it never got close to anyone. The few that did claim to want his friendship usually had ulterior motives, were after something else entirely. Jayce didn't think these people were like that though, they seemed genuine.

"I don't really know what I'd like to eat.... Do they have a burger here? that souns nice. maybe with some chips?" he asks, directed at Kren who he assumes woould know what's available. He looks over toenera, "I like it so far. I'll admit the slums bothered me though."

"I'm sure they've got a burger on the menu. I'm gonna order some burger and fries." Hekate said which is now a pretty odd combination with the cocktail she ordered earlier, but she didn't feel like ordering anything more expensive than that. She was pretty tight with money and wanted to save money for the trip. Though, her friendly expression went cold as soon as she heard a male voice that seemed to resonate in a deep tone. "Well, fancy seeing you here, Kate. I've not seen you since high school and then some around town. I never lost so many clients in such a short amount of time." A man with a mask said as he approached the group, his gaze assumingly fixated on Hekate as she stared back at him with a cold glare. "You seemed to have improved a lot since then. Maybe we can finally spar without you worry about some high moral ground this time." Hekate soon put a hand into her jacket, resting it on her gun but not yet drawing it as she rested her other hand on the table. "Childe, I'd rather you not start anything. As you can see, we're on vacation. And it just started." The man chuckled behind his red mask that had such a sinister design. "Ah yes. A vacation is very much well deserved after all that you've been through. But my business lost a lot of clients and was left with no compensation. You're a woman of business, I'm sure. So how about you find a way to compensate me for my loss?" He offered. "Besides, Kurosawa was one of my best partners..." "Not a fuckin' word, Child." "...Perhaps you can compensate me with just a night in my room---"

"I said not a fucking word!" Hekate exclaimed as she quickly stood up and drawing her gun, pointing at the masked man. At the same time as she moved, you felt a splash of water as a blade made of condensed water was formed and pointed at Hekate, the blade looking to be solid as any other blade made of iron. After a brief moment of silence, the man talked again. "My, you really changed since then. Before, you had such feelings for me. But now you're so cold that it reminds me of the cold back home, in Snezhnaya. Isn't that where your parents are also from? I can take you there with me if you're willing." He teasingly offered as Hekate started to regain her cool again. "Thanks for the offer, but I'm not going with you. I'm not one of your errand runners anymore. And I won't make the same mistake again." She said as she tightened the grip on her pistol, her finger lightly squeezing the trigger. The man soon scoffed before backing away, letting the blade of water disappear and gave a shrug. "Alright, your loss. But remember, you still owe me compensation. They're your work after all." He then looked towards the rest of the group and bowed not out of respect or forgiveness, but almost in a jester-like way. "Pardon me. Please enjoy your dinner tonight." Before anyone could say anything, he disappeared using some sort of teleportation magic. Anyone who saw this confrontation acted as if they hadn't seen anything or held questions to themselves.

Hekate soon sighed before putting her gun away but stepping out of the table. "I... I'm gonna get some air." She said as she walked outside hastily. Once she was outside, she just leaned against the wall near the entrance and started listening to music on her commu with her earbuds on. She didn't expect to see 'him' there and was definitely not prepared for it, as if she should prepare for such a tense confrontation during dinner. She thought the mages were going to be the only confrontation they'd get. Fuck... Now she's got a debt to pay and she doesn't even know how much besides what was previously offered which she can imply many things and all of them were undesirable to her.

"I'd love some fries, personally." They state, continuing, "I think the capital is fine. Haven't seen any of the museums yet, and the culture is-" They cut off as the man in the mask approaches, and tilt their head to the side as he starts to speak.
Jax blinks slowly at everything going on, their head whipping from person to person as they watch, tensing at the sight of the gun. When it's over, they look to the group. "So... are we going to go after Hekate and ask if she's okay, or...." They slowly get up from their chair without waiting for a response, and smooth the folds of their pants. "Because I think we should."

Aenera and Yfirryn watched as the situation unfolded as a stranger approached the table and the situation became kind of stand-offish. Both the stranger and Hekate pulled weapons. Aenera considered stepping in, but the two lowered their weapons. They had talked about some business and that they guy lost clients because of Hekate and that she owed him compensation. Aenera guessed either drug running or hitmen, especially because of the pointing of weapons. In the end, the stranger backed off and Hekate had to leave the table.

Jax considered that they go after Hekate. Aenera nodded and said: "I was thinking about doing the same. Something is up and we need to see what that is so that we can maybe help." Aenera then went out after Hekate.

Outside, Aenera quickly found Hekate and tapped her shoulder as Hekate had earbuds in her ears. "Hey. What was that all about? Did you have a side job as a drug runner or as a hitwoman? And this compensation. Are you in trouble? Maybe I can help out. I can make it look like an accident." Aenera said, not considering that her last sentence makes her scarily suspicious. "If the guy is a criminal, no one will miss him. Or if the compensation isnt that high, we can just buy his silence."

Inside Kren found it was a good chance to talk to Jayce again. "Here is your chance. When Aenera gets back, you should ask her about the truth. Everything should be arranged that she will reveal the truth to you. However you will have to take it to the grave or else. If she can implode a grand wizard, who knows what else she is capable of. Best to stay on her good side." Kren said to Jayce.

(Maybe its "I was supposed to become the villain/antagonist but ended up in a deadend job." for Aenera. :P)

Jayce watches Aenera follow Hekate, "she won't talk about it here. at best we need to wait until we get back. I'll ask her to talk in private and ask then. Based on what you told me and my own hunch I want to hear this alone. Learning this kind of thing would be hard for anyone, but I don't want others to carry that burden."

Jayce then thinks for a moment about Hekate, "speaking of hunches, I figured that Hekate was a sharpshooter of some kind. Based on that guy, she must be in some shady business. it's probably better Aenera hanle that."

Hekate removed an ear bud to listen to Aenera when she felt her tap her shoulder. Listening to her, she scoffed lightly and spoke. "The fact you said you can make it look like an accident concerns me but I already knew about it." She joked while also hinting that Hekate knew that Aenera was keeping secrets. She shook her head as her slight smile had faded from when she scoffed. "I suppose since I know your little secret, I'll tell you mine." She said taking a deep breath. "I wouldn't be working as a hitwoman if not for the death of my parents. I could've been a doctor or something but my parents were killed by a corporation that wanted something that they possessed. Obviously, it was a business benefit, something that could up their money without having to work so hard for it." She then looked at Aenera in the eye. "They wanted to get to me too, since they couldn't find what they were looking for and thought I knew where it was. So they sent a group to go after me and murdered my police escort. Thankfully, I had practiced marksmanship in high school for sport so picking up a gun and getting a bit dirty wasn't too hard. A hitman was waiting for me at my house but offered me the opportunity that brought me to where I am now. He had a list of people who plotted the entire thing and let me take care of it and get paid." She soon took off the other earbud and put it all away. "In the end, I popped the CEO of that corportaion, Kurosawa. It was a coincidental since I was going for someone else but might as well get both, right?" She said.

"Anyway, as business corporations work, some surely have business partners or backers. That guy, Childe, is the kid of the CEO of one of their partners. I liked him back in high school, but the fucker was only using me to snoop around my parents' work. I guess his father was talking to him about corporate stuff and he just happened to figure some shit out. I guess after he found what his old man was looking for, at least the potential of it, tipped off Kurosawa and his old man." She said as she was somewhat shaking a bit, probably out of rage and trauma. She took a few breaths before calming herself down. "Anyway, looking at you, I don't think you had to twist the story if that wizard fuck actually do all that to you. But... fuck it." She then blankly stared in front of her for a bit before speaking again. "I'll come back in a bit. You can go back in, or you could hang out here in the cold and suffer with me."

Jax remains seated at the table, watching Aenera go as they fold their hands together on top of the table. They think that Aenera can handle this, so they say to the people remaining at the table, "So, looks like our new friend is some sort of criminal. Or, at least, has done some very shady stuff with some very shady people." They look to Kren, Jayce, and Yfirryn, in that order, and raise an eyebrow. "So what are we going to do about it?" They ask, twining their fingers together on top of the table.

Finally, time to relax...
1610700015324.png
It was about time for his shift to end. He'd ended up having to work a little bit of overtime -- two hours of it, that is. His coworkers had tended to be a little bit frustrating at times, and all Tony could do about it was complain to his manager who'd just end up doing nothing like always, thanks to the fact that they're understaffed as of current. With a sigh he folded up his work apron and stuck it in his locker in the staff room. "Damn kids. Think they can just slack off and skip work these days..." he muttered under his breath, randomly changing the combination on the lock so people wouldn't be able to guess it so easily.

"Once I get that raise to assistant manager, I'll show 'em." Frustrated, he slammed the locker room door shut and headed out. Taking a glance at the sky gave him all the info he needed. "Guess I can go get myself a drink. Ain't nobody around to stop me, anyways. And I deserve it after all that." He glanced back down to the road ahead of him as he walked over to his favorite bar, not far from work. He used to hang out here with some buddies of his, 'til they all became pro hunters and left him in the dust. Now they probably all just hang out at fancy-shmancy five star restaurants with the kind of money they're raking in.

'Ding-a-ling!'

The door opens as a man dressed like a cowboy walks in and grabs a seat at the bar, waving to some patrons who recognize him before ordering himself a glass of the cheapest alcohol they got. His face seemed weary, a whip dangling at his side right next to a holstered gun. To anyone who didn't know him, he may seem like a seasoned hunter with all this odd paraphernalia attached to him. Of course, he's never actually had a practical use for any of those weapons after all, and does in fact just work at a grocery store... But that's besides the point. The man takes his alcohol and starts chatting up some of the other patrons. Quite loudly, actually. And honestly, might be making it a little bit harder to think. Ohhh boy.

"The truth is that I killed the great wizard because I wanted to. I didnt even intend to use the accent excuse, because that wasn't my idea. Someone further up the ranks asked me to call it an accident and prevented that day from ending up even worse. I was however seen as a pawn in complicated feuds between nobles. Certain nobles supported the corrupt wizards while others saw them as a hinderance and needed them dealt with." Aenera explained.

"Anyways, if you need help dealing with the Childe guy, you know where to find me." Aenera said before heading back inside. Once inside she bumped into a guy. he seemed to be a hunter of sorts or at least his get up looked like that of one. "Oh sorry. If I spilled your drink, I can buy you another." She said to the man.

Back at the table, when Jax asked what they were going to do about Hekate, Kren answers: "It seems like a lot of people here have problematic pasts."

(Sorry shot post. Might edit later.)

Samevi Samevi Aenera is interacting with your character

"Seems that way. My past was... odd? Strange? kind of tough, I guess? But not really probelamtic." He looks at Jax, "as far as dealing with this guy Hekate is involved with, we don't know enough about her situation. Not to mention we need to avoid causing problems here, especially with Aenera's past." He then leans on the table, "Now that's not to say we won't do anything, we just nee to be careful."

Hekate watched as Aenera headed back in and then putting her earbuds back in and continued to listen to some music. She didn't feel like going back inside yet, so she was just going to hang outside a few more minutes to chill. After confirming Aenera's incident wasn't an accident didn't make her happy figuring it out. Though, it didn't upset her either. Whatever happened in the past, it happened. Now they just have to deal with whatever comes their way or whatever past comes to haunt them, like her ex. She was now just remembering her high school days and thinking how little she needed to care about compared to now. Before, she didn't have to worry about money or being alone. She had her parents looking after her and they were pretty wealthy. Now, she was struggling to find some work aside from her hitwoman business and carefully trying to conserve the money her parents had that she inherited. Her sort of backup expenses that she'd use for essential things and not just casual spending. So far, she's doing a pretty good job refraining from using it all entirely. She still needs to find something that's reliable and something that can give her a constant flow of money so she can easily plan her spendings. Maybe she could find some work at Quarrytown when they get back.

Bump!
Well now, it's not every day a cute girl who looks to be around your age just happens to bump into you, spilling your drink all over the front of your prized vest... But with a face like that, it's not like he could stay mad. He grabbed a few napkins from atop the bar and wiped away the liquid coolly. Or, as coolly as one can wipe a massive alcohol stain off of their chest. He glanced at her with a slight smile and lifted his downed cup, throwing the paper cloths onto whatever all spilled on the bar.

"Don't worry about it, miss. This sort o' thing happens all the time 'round here," he begins, motioning for the bartender to refill his cup. "Name's Tony, by the way. May I ask yer name?" Now that had to be the smoothest introduction he'd ever given to a lady of possible interest. He smirked internally and lifted his now refilled glass to his lips, taking a proud gulp in light celebration for his ability to not completely blow it in the first three words.

"Now we have to worry about Aenera too? It's like everything I have known is being turned upside down. " They thump their forehead lightly against the table, then grimace at the feeling of sticky surface.

"So what's up with Aenera's past? It's a little extreme but accidents are accidents. " They look vaguely uncomfortable while saying this.

"Well Tony. Nice to meet you, my name is Aenera, Aenera Manabrooke, but you can call me Aeane while were are here at the pub. Hearing my normal name rubs some people the wrong way in this part of the city. With your kind of get-up, I am surprised to see you in the government district. Usually people are either mages or nobles around here. You look more like a hunter or as if you do something with livestock." Aenera said in response to Tony. She said her full name quiet enough to only be audible to Tony. "Why dont you join me and my friends at our table? Then we can get acquianted and you wont have to stand the entire time." She then led the way.

Meanwhile in response to Jayce, Kren said: "I got the feeling Hekate's background may be in the environs of Aenera amounts of troubling. Cannot tell if she is showing her true personality though. I hope she is better than..." He noticed he may be giving too much away. "I mean I hope her true character only did bad things for good reasons."

Then Jax asked about Aenera's past. "I have told what I can tell. If you want details. Aenera may be able to tell you more. All I can say is that the academy implanted that crystal in her forehead to prevent her from using too much magic at once and tried to keep her holed up because they feared she'd be another Aenfya. And then later in life she killed a pretty high ranking wizard... accidentally." Kren said as he wasn't allowed to give the entire truth.

"Speaking of the devil..." Kren said seeing Aenera accompanied by a handsome man. "Looks like she caught another person. And I thought I'd be her only boy toy." Kren joked.

"We can talk more later." He says as aenera approaches. Jayce looks over and waves to the coming duo, "find another friend? We don't need an intervention do we?" Jayce jokes with a smile. This person looks well equipped. Must be a hunter of somekind, professional by the look of him. Jayce thinks for amoment about when he tried to find a job fighting monsters and protecting people and was harshly rejected. It is a sad memory.

After some few minutes, Hekate calmed down and went back inside, making sure to properly stow away her hand-cannon revolver in her jacket. She joined the group and was a little surprised when someone new appeared. He looked like someone who goes on adventures or goes hunting. If he dressed like this, he must be pretty good at what he does. She returns to her seat and offers a smile to the group, as if nothing happened prior. "Heya. Sorry, I had to excuse myself earlier." She soon turned from the group that she knows to the new person. Upon further inspection she noticed that there was an alcohol stain on his chest. She soon got up and put a hand on his chest, right over where the stain was. "Here, let me take care of that for you. I suppose you're a friend of Aeane's, right?" She said as she was using her water manipulation magic to suck the alcohol right out between the fabrics of his clothes and eventually cleaned up the stain with a ball of liquid alcohol floating in her palm. She soon made a small cup using her geo-type manipulation abilities to put the alcohol in. The geo-made cup looked pretty refined and smooth, but it was still made of actual rock that looked like it was polished into this brown-gold look with a glowing gold-like decorative design on the sides of the cup. She soon placed the cup in front of the stranger and spoke. "I dunno if you want to drink that still. You can if you want to, I'm sure the cup I made was still sanitary. And I washed my hands."

The Boy Toy

Tony was about to correct Aenera on the subject of his occupation - about to - but decided to hold back his tongue. After being led to the table, he lifted his hat a little bit to give them a better view of his face and reintroduced himself. "Well, I ain't sure about 'boy toy' or 'friend' just yet, I guess we have been acquainted. Call me Tony." He said to the rest of the group, giving them a friendly smile and nod. "Nice to meet ya." He found himself a seat from a nearby empty table and pulled it up, sitting down with the others. Wasn't too much different, relaxing here with strangers than it was relaxing at the bar with strangers.

Though, these were some strange strangers indeed. He knew of special abilities like this, but this was his first time seeing it in practice -- a lady pulled the alcohol out of his shirt and made a cup, dumping the spilled alcohol into it. "Well, thanks," he replied, breath-taken and eyeing the newly made cup. "S'pose alcohol's alcohol either way." He shrugged, picking up the cup and downing it in one go.

Jax runs a finger over the rim of their glass, processing everything that's been said slowly. Then, they look up at the new guy and smile a full, slightly crooked smile. "Nice to meet you, Tony. I'm Jax. Aenera has a habit of picking up strays, is all. I'm certainly not surprised she pulled you over." They roll their eyes and take a sip of their drink, a very small one. Looks like they'll be drinking it for a while. "You doin' alright, Hekate?" They ask, still holding their drink up to their mouth. They take another small sip.

Aenera smiled as Jayce caught attention of them and remarked that she had found a new friend.

Soon Hekate came back and greeted the stranger. She noticed the stain on the Tony's clothing and began to magically remove the alcohol. "Wow, I didn't know you could manipulate liquids Hekate." Aenera said. "But then again you are full of surprises."

Tony then introduced himself to the others and thanked Hekate for cleaning his vest. When Jax mentioned Aenera picking up strangers quite easily, Aenera grinned childishly. "I guess I do tend to pick up strangers quite easily. But it isn't like I have to be afraid of anyone. But usually I have good intuition when making new friends.

"Anyways Tony, this is my younger brother Yfyrrin, or Yfie for tonight." Aenera said while hugging her pretty, androgynous, crossdressing brother. She then put her hand on Kren's shoulder. "And here..." "I'm Kren, professor for alchemy at the academy. Pleased to meet you." Kren said interrupting Aenera.

"We just arrived this evening. Originally, most of us are from Quarrytown, except for Kren and Yfie. Kren is a capital resident and Yfie is from my birthtown of Vyyzantfyr in the northern Fiordanfeller mountains. We decided to go on a roadtrip after gathering money from hunting wyverns." Aenera said.

"I'm Jayce, nice to meet ya." He says with a nod, "quite kitted out there, finish a job or something?" He asks curiously. Hunters generally don't come to his place of employment so he doesn't hear stories of their jobs often. He has way too much to think about but he can hold that until later, now is the time to relax and have fun.

Hekate looked at Aenera and smiled at her, having a slight smug look when she did. "I can manipulate more than just liquids. I can manipulate the elementals to a slight degree. I just used water magic to extract the alcohol and geo magic for the cup." She said as she soon made the cup crumble into nothingness once Tony was finished with his leftover drink. She then heard Jax ask her if she was doing alright. In all honesty, she was still shaken up a bit but have calmed down a bit since talking with Aenera outside. "I'm fine, Jax. Thank you. Let's just not bring that up tonight." She said before she relaxed into her seat, tying her hair into a pony tail so it wouldn't get in the way when she began eating. She then turned her gaze to Tony as everyone was introducing themselves to him. "Name's Hekate. Aeane picked me up just today as well before we went on this road trip." She said, not knowing what else to say in her introduction without spilling too much about her personal life with the others. She can't just blatantly say she works as a hitwoman to everyone, it would not look good in terms of professionalism nor good standing with any authority like the police.
