Fantasy Hunter's Moon: The Sin & Sentence [IC] [CLOSED]

Jakob simply stayed quiet and watched as everyone else kicked ass, Vincent had told everyone to not use firearms after all.

The Cathedral of Sheol - The Crypt (Lower Levels) - Battle 2 - TURN 2
Hudson = 2. Missed Guard 2.
Loque = 10. CH Roll = 9. Does 4 DMG to Guard 2. Automatic Execution. Guard 2 is dead.

------
As Hudson lunged to try and stab the creature in the neck, it rolled to the side to avoid the piercing blow. Right into Loque's strike. Her axe came down hard, cleaving through the demon's chest. If the blow didn't kill the creature, the next one would. She yanked the axe back out, and brought the axe down on the creature's neck. With one cut, the head was separated from the torso. She kicked the head up into her hand, as if it were a ball, and a moment later there was a sickening crunch. She had taken a bite out of the top of the creature's head, and was now munching on the contents of its brain cavity. Once she was satisfied, she tossed the head aside and quickly slipped her mask back down.

Wesley's attack was in vain, as he landed on the creature's chest and drove the dagger into its corpse. Senya was better off, as she managed to stop herself after seeing Loque kill the creature. Vincent, disturbed by what Loque had just done, shook it off and looked to the others. "Up the stairs. That scream the other one made probably alerted the others. Weapons free. Shoot to kill." he quickly said, leveling his rifle at his shoulder and darting towards the stairs. Riberta, flicking the blood and gore off her sword, followed behind him along with the rest of the group. After a quick jog up the staircase, they found themselves on the upper levels of the Crypt.

This area was far better lit than the flow below, and far cleaner. And this area also had about six demons moving about. Each had already grabbed their weapon, and were halfway to the stairs before the group arrived at the top of them. These were a mixture of demons, both fleshy and stone-like. "Pick a target and put it down." said Vincent aloud, as he took aim at the nearest fleshy demon and fired off a pair of shots into the creature's torso. "WITH PLEASURE." sounded off Riberta, clutching her claymore tightly as she charged a stone demon before her.

"Okay...remind me to never piss off the demon lady over there." muttered Jakob after witnessing Loque's attack. But Vincent was right. The screams of the demon that they had killed most likely attracted the attention of those upstairs. So much for stealth. After pumping his shotgun, he followed after Vincent and arrived at the top of the stairs with the rest of the group. He watched as Riberta charged ahead with her claymore. "...Remind me to not anger her either, holy shit." he said aloud, before following after the large hybrid. His eyes quickly turned yellow, glowing brightly. He was ready to strike demons down, with gun or claw.

*BANG!*

Making very loud noises in a close and cramped space is an excellent way to make Loque temporarily deaf, but also annoyed for a longer duration. Vincent firing off his shots made her ears painfully ring for just a moment; her metal mask amplifying the bang even more. She’s not going to switch to her rifle right now, especially because of that. So she charges at the fleshy demon Vincent fired at with her new axe still in hand.

Henderson let the others take the other two demons while he retrieved his coat. Perhaps he should stop worrying about it being damaged during the fights. As much as he preferred to look presentable, it was getting in the way of his work. Soon enough they would run into more things to kill. It looked like all subtlety was out the window now. Good.

He picked one of the fleshy demons and swung a fist. The rocks were hard, but how hard could these be.

They moved up to the upper levels of the crypt and it looked like they were going all out. Senya focused on one of the flesh demons, setting her sword on fire as they needed to deal with six enemies, fast. She went closer, dealing a quick stab at one of the demon's chest.

For the time they were underground, Venextos stayed quiet and out of combat as the others dealt with the rabble that was lurking about. For that time, they didn't need to draw attention to themselves and Venextos was all too willing to comply. However, the situation changed when they emerged into the cathedral proper as the fighting began to pick up. Venextos made his way up and quickly summoned a defensive spell before transferring it over to Riberta who was currently charging into the fray. With this, the enemy would have a harder time to hit her as she went on the offensive.

Takato's assumption, his belief, in the others wasn't for naught, as they swiftly took care of the demon. Takato looked saddened after hearing Loque munch on the demon's head - it reminded him too much of the sights, the few he has had, of yokai eating humans. A sight of terror, those are. Either way, he looked over to Vincent, as he commented that those upstairs likely were alerted just now. He kept his style in a state of flux, as they quickly jogged up the stairs.

With about six armed demons, Vincent spoke, and fired off at a fleshy demon, whom Loque was charging at. Riberta, claymore in hand, charged a stone demon, followed soon after by Jakob. Another fleshy demon was about to be struck by Henderson's mighty fist, and Senya focused another, sword alight to deal with the enemy quickly. It appeared Takato would charge down a stone demon again, cracking his left hand, but not his right. Being concentrated on him alone, Takato would have to do his best to strike and use his Jin, his martial power. He, for a moment, considered dragon style, but instead opted for the closely related snake style.

"This is quite the adventure, say, is there a chance I would be given one of those fancy rifles you lot tote around?" Irene mused, already seeing herself picking targets at a distance.

Having hung back long enough to regain full control, Anya winced, but did not become enraged, when the gunfire and other loud noises began. Instead, she pressed forward at the rear of the group, clumsily retrieving her pistol from its holster as she climbed the stairs. Her yellow eyes scanned the room hungrily as she picked a target, and then, sighting a fleshy demon which wasn't blocked by an ally, she held the old muzzle-loader up and tried to place a few bullets in its head and body.

------
The group chose their targets, rushing in and attacking just as the demons themselves were. Both of Vincent's shots connected with the flesh colored demon, the hunting rifle caliber rounds punching through its body and impacting the casket behind it. Still, it kept coming. Must not have hit anything vital. Loque moved in, swinging her battleaxe at the creature. It quickly jerked up its shield, attempting to block the incoming swing, but Loque's demonic strength caused the large axe to break through the shield and shatter the demon's forearm. Gödrun used the distraction to get her own hit in, swinging around and flanking the demon from left side. She drove her sword into the side of the demon, forcing a groan from the creature, before jerking it back out and moving away. Inari would achieve the killing blow, darting in from the other flank and slicing the creature twice across the torso with her sword. She quickly moved behind the creature, before shoving her blade through its back. She twisted, before jerking the blade across horizontally. The jerk carved through the creature's spine, splitting it in two and severing its spinal cord. It dropped almost immediately as she yanked her blade back out.

Riberta charged shoulder first into the stone-fleshed demon she had targeted, the impact knocking the wind out of the demon as it stumbled backward. Then, her claymore came down in an arc from high over her shoulder. It caught the creature on its own shoulder, breaking through its rough stone flesh and screeching across its torso before clacking against the ground. Jakob would flank the creature, planting his boot forcefully into the side of the creature's knee. The impact, backed up by Jakob's Lycan strength, was enough to shatter the joint, and force the leg to collapse sideways. As the creature toppled over screaming out, Jakob planted the muzzle of his shotgun inside the creature's mouth before pulling the trigger. The creature's head burst quite violently, sending chunks darting through the air around the area. He quickly pumped the weapon with one hand, before glancing to Riberta. Riberta simply gave him a nod of satisfaction, before snapping her head back around and taking note of one of the other stone-fleshed demons charging her. Apparently she had caught its attention, and it wanted retribution for its slain ally. She managed to narrowly dodge its attack, the tip of its axe making a thin slice across her arm. She saw Venextos nearby, who gave her what appeared to be a thumbs-up.

Henderson and Hudson moved to engage one of the other fleshy demons, Henderson's fist colliding with the demon's chest and sending it sailing through the air. Dropping its weapon and shield in the process. In mid-air, however, Hudson's chains caught the creature around its legs. He quickly jerked backward as hard as he could, fully stopping the demon's trajectory and forcing it to simply hit the ground where it was. He darted over, as the creature was still stunned, before planting his boot square in the creature's nether regions. The creature sat up quite abruptly, a look of horrific pain on its face, before one of the large flaming mace heads of Hudson's enchanted weapon collided with its head. The head practically exploded into flaming chunks upon impact, a testament to the power of the weapon that Hudson wielded. The demon's headless corpse simply flopped back down onto the floor, the neck charred black.

Senya engaged the third and final fleshy demon alone, her flaming sword quite ready as she met the demon. He lunged at her, attempting to use his shield to knock her weapon aside. Easy enough to dodge, really, as she simply moved to the side and drove her sword deep into the creature's chest where one's heart would be. It yelled out in pain, as she jerked her blade back out and twirled about. The backside of her sword's blade cleaved through its neck, silencing the creature quite well. As it clutched at its throat, the wound to its chest erupted into flames, which violently spread across its body. The neck wound burst into flames next, and soon the creature simply sat motionless on its knees. Having become a burning inferno of a corpse.

Takato moved in to engage the creature that had attacked Riberta, making snake-like movements with his arms and attempting to strike the stone-fleshed demon. Surprisingly, the creature was much faster than it appeared to be. It easily dodged his attacks, moving about to dodge the strikes. Anya took aim at the creature with her muzzleloading pistol, as the fleshy demons had been dispatched, and pulled the trigger. But the action did not give her the response she wanted. The pistol clicked, before violently exploding in her hand. The sudden explosion surprised her, and burned her hand quite badly while shrapnel embedded itself in her arm.

Wesley darted through the chaos, choosing the remaining stone-fleshed demon as his target. He leaped into the air, drawing out his ninjatō and driving it deep into the creature's torso just next to its neck. It groaned in pain, before reaching up and grabbing Wesley. In one swift motion, it hurled Wesley against a stone pillar nearby, knocking the wind out of the vampiric ninja.

Looking at Hudson stomp a mud hole in his target's crotch causes Loque to wince as the demon screams out in pain, and some of the burning chunks that used to be its head slap her in the face as they fly past after he makes it explode. Another demon explodes shortly after, and another right after that. Just what the hell kind of weaponry is everyone using that's making everything explode? Now's not the time to inquire though, especially since there's one more test for Loque's battleaxe: to see whether or not it could cut through stoneflesh.

She charges at the weaker one, winding up to strike it right in it's chest.

After setting up the kill for Hudson, Henderson turned his attention to the stone demons. Now directly hitting would probably not be as effective if it was just his bare fists. He picked up the short spear dropped by the demon and looked at the tip. It was metal alright. Quality seemed to be about what you'd expect from the foundries of the Abyss. The mediocre ones at least. Should still do the job.

Welsey seemed to have gotten himself into some trouble. 'Stand still.' He muttered as he aimed at the demon and then he chucked the spear.

Planting his foot hard on the ground after missing his attacks, Takato shifted from snake style to swallow style, seeing the need to be nimbler than a snake.

With Loque charging the stone-flesh demon that had tossed Wesley to the side, and Henderson seeming to aim towards them as well, Takato proceeded fighting against the stone-flesh demon that had previously attacked Riberta once more, though now anticipating her to possibly join in as well.

Seriphine grimaced as yet another fight started. After killing a few measly Hollows the enjoyment had quickly vanished. Bored out of her mind the Elven warlord had remained at the rear of the group to keep watch like she had done prior.

The first demons were of little interest- she had both seen and fought larger ones in the past.
Now she simply crossed her arms and watched as the party finished off the current wave of opponents.

Her eyes shifted, locking onto Takato and then at the monk's target. Smiling, Seriphine shifted her stance near-instantly and hurled a sharp glass-like dagger at the demon. If her timing was as good as it used to the demon would be struck right after being engaged by the Oni.

The loud gunfire sounding throughout the cramped hallways was deafening, Hudson seizing up for just a moment as his breathing hastened. His grip on his weapons tightened to the point that they shook in his hand, and he momentarily glanced down at them as he grit his teeth and tried to snap himself out of what was sure to be an episode. In a tone above a whisper he said a few, shaky words that were not quite discernible to even himself, only to shoot his gaze up as the demons approached.

What resulted was him acting on pure reflex, chains wrapping about his target's legs to bring it back into the fight before he planted his onto it so he could retrieve the chained weapon. He wasn't really aiming for the crotch, just going for whatever purchase he could so he could undo his tether to bring his mace back to bear against the creature. Once he made his kill he continued to pant, clearly rattled before he shot straight up and moved toward the few remaining enemies.

He brought his bastard sword to bear against the nearest one, swinging it in a wide arc.

The loud, echoing gunshots in the chamber reminded her of more than a few sieges over the years. Close-quarters matchlocks and eventually percussion-caps cracking away at the height of battle, eventually replaced by the newer and faster bolt-actions in slow but increasing number. A cacophonous affair, as war often was.

Coming across the flesh demons was a wish granted, and she hurried along with a grin as she sighted her foe. Some of the others had dealt it some damage, and she moved in quickly to deliver her finishing attack, slicing the creature twice along the front and then severing the spine from behind in one smooth, graceful, and artistic manner. Every move measured yet fluid, like the flow of a surge of water through an invisible channel. With the demon dead, she steadied herself and watched the others engage the last two stone-demons. It seemed everyone's attention was on this hapless foes. Too many moving bodies and the risk of getting shot was rather high, and that chain weapon Hudson used was a menace and she didn't want to get near that thing. The others could finish the stone demons. It was time for her own fun.

She stabbed her sword, Kioshi, down into the corpse of the slain flesh demon she had executed. Blood quickly began to trickle up the blade, disappearing at random points, and some going so far up that they disappeared where the blade met the hilt. Inari knelt down and drew her tanto, revealing the blade to be slightly wavy. Made for causing uneven wounds that would bleed profusely, be difficult to sew up, and also to help in cutting. Not as good as a serrated blade, but somewhere between that and a straight edge. Removing heads from bodies was as natural and practiced to her as cutting carrots, or onions for dinner. It took only a few seconds to angle the tanto properly and slice through the flesh and spine of the neck, severing the head entirely. "Ahah... Sugoi! Sugoi...." She beamed happily, holding the head up and staring at it. "[My first kill, and the honor I shall dedicate to you, Guardian of the Abyss!"] As promised, her first kill was made to the stone guardian they had met when they first entered the Abyss. It was a small, but glorious moment.

She looked up to make sure the stone-demons were still occupied and not stupid enough to try a swing at her, given that they were fighting for their lives with the other members of the inquiry. With the coast momentarily clear, she hefted the severed demon head up above her face and allowed the blood to drip down into her open mouth. It was a sloppy ordeal, so she had to lick her lips and wipe her mouth with the back of her hand after she got a good taste of the blood.

"Subarashii..." Inari sighed, considering the taste of the demon blood. Blood pretty much all tasted the same to her, though she had heard that some creatures, like the Oni, could taste a difference. If there was thing to be jealous of, it was that, if it were true. Still - there was a peculiarity in the flavor of this blood. An exotic flavor, perhaps - or maybe that was just her own imagination.

Watching the fight continue, Inari remained on her knees beside the headless demon body, watching the entertainment like it was a show put on for her own amusement, one hand grasping her tanto and the other holding the severed head. All the while, her sword continued to slowly drink the blood from the corpse. She didn't want her fun interrupted, but if any of the stone demons would come near, she'd show them the delights of what a tanto could do.

With many of the enemies dispatched of, and most of the group preoccupied with taking out the last two that were still standing, Venextos opted to help Wesley who had been thrown into into a pillar. The blow must have been painful, and the wizard sent a stream of blue energy towards the ninja to help him with his wounds.

Regaining her footing after assisting in killing one of the demons, Gödrun turned to the remainder of the fight. Not having the speed to catch up the rest of the party after they assaulted the demon, Gödrun simply raised her sword in the air.
"Solem Potesta!" she exclaimed as she held her sword aloft. Upon the utterance of the phrase, the flame that engulfed the weapon began to shiver violently. Suddenly, the flame shout away like a flare from the tip of the blade, making a trail as it flew through the air. It traveled some distance, sending embers and sparks sailing as it did.
Eventually the ball of fire seemed to fly into Hudson. There was no explosion or collision, but rather the spell seemed to melt into Hudson when it touched him.
An immense feeling of power filled the hunter, and his gripped tightened around his chain and sword. He could feel the radiant power flowing through him as a vessel, transferring to his weapons and strengthening his blows.

Anya hadn't fired a pistol like this one in a few months leading up to the mission. She could rarely find them in her petty thievery, and when she did she typically discarded or sold them as soon as whatever ammunition she could scrounge ran out. She wasn't fond of searching for replacements since the old country of eastern Tsavania was filled with artisan-made weapons of all shapes and sizes. Rather than becoming an expert on ball, cap, cartridge, powder, or any other distinction which made one incompatible with another, she just moved on entirely.

This time, it cost her. Staring blankly at her mangled fingers and the slowly spreading blood stains on her sleeve, her yellow eyes seemed to sink into a dark shadow which crept from the cheek bones inward, until they were floating, foreboding orbs peeking out from beneath the brim of a slumping cap. A growl finally escaped her as she twitched hard, the ruined hand cracking loudly as her bones shifted. She grabbed her arm with her offhand as if to stop the spread, but it was too late. The wolf was in control again.

She suddenly turned, in a jerking motion, throwing herself into all fours as her face exploded with fangs and all semblence of humanity left her. She let out an agonized howl; pieces of gun metal clanked onto the floor as they were expelled from her flesh. The greatcoat did its job by remaining intact, stretched across her ferocious other form, but just barely.

Once it was complete, she mindlessly leaped at the nearest figure which resembled an enemy.

The fight continues and as Senya finished dealing with one of the flesh demons, her allies were very eager to finish this skirmish. There were only two remaining now. Senya picked the one who gave damage to Wesley, marching slowly while the others attacked first. Her intention was to stab the demon and then move out of there to avoid its attack.

Wesley held his back and he groans in pain after impacting on the stone pilar. He quickly went back up to his feet and and went to crouching position. he felt a wave of reinvigoration envelope him as Venextos sent him a wave of energy, The Ninja merely nodded at him in a thankful gesture.

He ran forward back with his Ninjato towards the demon that have struck him before, but with a plan in mind, If the demon would strike him again, he would feint it and materialize behind the demon. and attack it in vulnerable area.

Loque rushed in, brandishing her axe, and soon swung as soon as she reached the stone-fleshed demon. He turned about just in time to see her coming, and narrowly avoided getting hit in the torso with the blade of the weapon. As she spun about to the side, going with the momentum of the large battleaxe. Henderson's shot struck true, however, the spear hitting the demon in the shoulder and piercing through its stone-flesh. It groaned in pain, before snatching the spear out of its shoulder and slinging it down. Senya and Wesley would be the ones to deliver the blows to bring the creature down, however. Senya moved in as soon as the others finished attacking it, and as it turned about to face her, she managed to get a stab in before quickly moving out of the way as it tried to knock her aside. Her blade had struck it in the chest, breaking through the stone and plunging deep into its vitals beneath. And soon, the fires started, erupting from the open wound. As the fire spread, a revitalized Wesley darted in. The creature swung at him, but it missed as Wesley used his skills to vanish and quickly reappear behind the creature. His ninjatō struck true, slicing clean horizontally through the creature's neck. Effectively beheading it. Its head rolled off, as the body slumped and collapsed.

Meanwhile, Takato moved into strike at the stone-fleshed demon that had attacked Riberta. His hits created small craters across the creature's skin, sending cracks spider-webbing across the surface. As Takato moved back, Seriphine's dagger hit and embedded itself in the creature's neck. As it grasped at the small blade, Hudson arrived. He violently struck the demon with his bastard sword, cleaving an arm off thanks to Gödrun's spell. The demon yelled out in pain, but what came next would put the creature down for good. Anya, now shifted fully into her terrifying lycan form, set upon the creature. She sailed through the air, hitting it and riding it down onto the stone floor. Her powerful jaws crunched down on the creature's neck, and she violently thrashed about with the demon gripped tightly in her teeth. Once she was sure the demon's neck was broken, she released it and began to shred the demon's corpse with her sharp claws. Limbs were ripped off, organs were ripped out, and the demon was soon a mess of blood and gore upon the spot it had fallen.

Takato, just as he had done earlier, maneuvered away with his posture maintained, as the others followed him up. The sight of the demon's arm being cleaved off caused him to cringe a little, but soon after, Anya struck. He once more looked on at Anya's massacring of their opponent with a forlorn expression, though to some extent, he was reminded of home, when occasionally the yokai he faced appeared either covered in blood and gore, or they themselves had just brutalized a village or a settlement of other yokai.

Takato stretched as he looked over to the others and- is Inari drinking the blood of a demon?! Goodness gracious... reminded he was of the myth, that consuming the blood of oni was poison to most, if not all, yokai of Redonia, just due to the amount of magical impact the demons had when they occupied the continent, or the north at least, he was less familiar with what had happened during the Age of Darkness south of the mountains. But still... were kitsune the rare kind to be able to consume demon's blood, or was that myth just that, a myth...? Questions for later, he decided, as he continued stretching.

"Anya, might you think he's dead already? Unless, you can smell his soul still sweating through all the blood." snobs Loque, a little uncomfortable with the excessive use of violence on something already deceased.
