The Rusty One
WELCOME TO THE YEAR 2105
The Milky-Way Galaxy is at stake of losing all life as we know it. An evil robotic race, the Roborg, had taken the planet Earth and are making plans to conquer the rest of the galaxy by exterminating all life. Two warring factions, the Galactic Alliance and the Planetary Confederacy, had decided to join forces against the new threat. However, even their combined forces don't seem to be enough; all they could do is slow down the Roborg's progress. Everyone was getting ready to lose hope...
However, no matter how dark the future and fate the Universe seems, there is always a spark of hope.
A day or two has passed since the previous mission. Susan, who was already awake and still wearing her nightgown, is on her desk, with a 1940 record player on her side. She is intending to watch a record player repair video on YouTube. However, she is currently sitting through an advertisement video about a new virtual reality video game called Multiverse Mayhem, which was created by a long-running Human company called Nintendo, the same company who owns various Matrioshka Brains to power up their Online Multiplayer games. Near then end of the advertisement, the current owner of one of Nintendo’s subsidiary studios, Morioka Chika, shows her face, supposingly getting ready to say something important.
“Hi! Thank you for watching the entirety of this ad. If you want to try out the new game early, then preorder it now and get a closed Beta-Access copy! Not only will you help grow our money bags, you’ll also help stress test the Online Multiplayer hub feature of the game! As always, hope y’all have a great day!”
Then, finally, the advertisement ended, now showing the video on how to repair a 1940 record player with modern tools. Susan carefully followed the instructions until the repairs are made on her record player. Once she is done, she puts her computer into rest mode, grabs a record player disc with a scratched-off label, and places it onto her heirloom. Then she starts it. 1940s music plays.
We'll meet again
Don't know where
Don't know when
But I know we'll meet again some sunny day
Keep smiling through
Just like you always do
'Till the blue skies drive the dark clouds far away
Half-a-hour later, Susan finally wears her captain uniform and decides to take a small walk around the flagship. She’d already missed breakfast, but she wasn’t really that hungry anyway. She’ll probably grab a bite some time after her walk.
