overview.
Heaven's End is known for three things; beauty, soulmates and murder.
As a sprawling metropolis on the sunny side of America, it has seen many people and stories come and go - filled with opportunity and pitfalls alike, it's been witness to the greatest love stories in ages and the most heart-wrenching tragedies. Everybody knows it is not a rule that you will meet your soulmate or that you will get your happy ending, and Heaven's End is proof of that. It bears all the sins that great cities have, harboring crime families despite the dreamy first impression; Rome, too, had it's cracks before it burned.
The Hands would be the one to hold the majority of the city in their grasp, pumping violence and drugs and blood into Heaven's End and seemingly being unable to be stopped by law enforcement or rivals alike - a multi-layered organisation that has hitmen, thieves and any type of sinner under their paycheck, all answering to the same boss. As sharp as they are dangerous, they've proven to be a problem for years and it looks like they will not be leaving unless they are forced. There is money to be made here, and they have a sea of it - the Hands have drawn their war fronts, refusing to move.
That's where the Detective Agency Morgan steps in.
As a team of trained (or not so trained) professionals, they have been tasked to get rid of the Hands once and for all - by any means necessary. Be it though investigation, infiltration or straight up physical fights, this close-knit group has entered a rivalry with the biggest job they've had so far. Whether they're up to the task to driving out a threatening, powerful beast of an organisation of out the city, well - not like they can turn back now. Once the detective agency takes on a task, it won't stop till they drop or win. Whatever comes first.
And yet, nothing is as it seems. It never is.
Something is brewing in Heaven's End, something that neither group are awake of. The ground is crumbling beneath their feet and it's only a matter of time until it falls, too. It's a tricky situation, one that will take intelligence and co-operation to solve.
It's even worse when somewhere out there might be the love of your life.

Hi, hello and welcome to Detective Agency Morgan, a crime and mystery roleplay set in a fictional metropolis of Heaven's End. Focusing on two groups - the Hands and the Detective Agency Morgan - this is intended to be a semi-sandbox setting with events, secrets and, of course, soulmates. With plently of fluff and angst to go along, this would hopefully be a setting with the vibe of a romantic comedy filled with scenes where you might have to suspend your disbelief. Would a terrifying and violent criminal organisation host a pool party and invite their bitter enemies? Probably not, but that's not going to stop them from doing so here. :''-) This is meant to be a more light-hearted roleplay with some dark themes here and there, but overall this is meant to be a fun, casual experience and not extremely oppressive.
Anyways, we are super excited to start this!! If you have any questions, please ask me or any of the GMs!
Thank you to xayah. for the plot idea and .V1LLAINISM._ for writing the roles!!

boss of the hands
taken
The big bad, the one calling all the shots - and the one taking all the blame should anything go wrong.
With all the money circling back to them, the Boss is the person who all the members answer to. With all the power and violence in potentia at their fingertips, they're an enemy to think twice about making. Not many people who threaten them end up coming home afterwards - their reach is wide and so is their web, a spider hidden under the great visual of the web. Intimidation is loud, but danger is quiet.
under-boss
taken
As the boss' right hand man and sworn friend, they are the one to catch the fall if things get rocky without anybody there to stop it. Intelligent, skilled and capable of violence and leadership alike, the soldiers look up to them in their hour of need. Only the boss' word overrules theirs, with the underboss making sure the city doesn't go up in flames while they're not around. An important foundation of the Hands, made from cold blood and nerves of steel - an enemy you do not want to have.
The money is good, of course, but with nobody can envy the sword dangling over their head.
the soldiers
open
An oath. A promise. Words that once seemed frail in the moment, would later rule over their very lives, pinned with a grasp so tight that even the strongest find themselves unable to breathe at times.
“Malo mori quam foedari.”
Death rather than dishonour. It was an extract from their initiation, an agreement that even though they may wreak havoc to the outside world, they must never-never turn the knife on their brothers and sisters. Even the worst of the hands know that. After all, in some sort of sick way they are a family- a team just like any other. Short, tall big or small, each member has their own story, each of them a sin, a sorrow.
Like snowflakes no one pair are alike, cheesy as it sounds.
But at the end of the day, when all of that pain, all that remorse comes spiralling back, they are reminded that each of them, no matter how different, have blood on their hands.
head detective
taken
A dweller of the dark, a puppeteer and his beloved pawns. The boss is many things- calculated- cunning- some even say cruel, but at the end of the day, they’re the one that shields the heavens from the fires of hell.
Seldom straying from their lead, the agents of Morgan, obey one person and one person alone. A key influence within their chain of command, they, despite being only a single soul- a mere speck of existence in all of the galaxies, are tasked to carry not only the weight of their underlings, but the weight of the world.
The stakes are high, they’ve always been so in a place like this. But what Heaven’s End needs right now is a good leader. And as the pleas culminate and the dust begins to settle, their call to the podium echoes with conviction.
They will rise.
deputy
taken
The only other other person the agents of Morgan respect (be it willingly or not), the deputy is what most would consider a second parent to the detectives. Like the eldest sibling to a large family, their tasks encompass keeping their inferiors in line and sparing the petty nuisances from their superior.
Having to spend most of their time wrangling the chickens and making sure that they rarely stray from their coop, the deputy’s days are nothing short of taxing, tiring and testy.
Hence, whether they actually like this job is completely up for question; after all, the captain has deemed them most trustworthy and for now- given the current situation- personal sentiments should be the last of their concerns.
the detectives
open
It’s universal. The moment where suddenly, your mind clears and the curtains lift, revealing the true horrors of the world as if it were some sort of prized cattle. Eyes wide, mouth agape, the shock coursing through your veins. It’s then when you realize just how you’ve treated and how you’ve been treated, how cruel you and others were, perhaps for no reason at all.
Subconscious, like muscle memory.
It’s no secret that humans- that people are the worst of the lot. Constantly tearing one another down in height of their own pursuits. But you can either accept the reality or run from it, a milestone that begins your very first chapter, a metaphorical fork in the road.
These are the people that decided to run and never look back.
To chase after something-someone better, to make the world a little less hellish and to hopefully, spare others from the cruelty they once endured. They are the saviours, the men and women whom often sacrifice themselves for mere strangers. Some call them heroes, while others have yet to learn of their existence. But without them, surely all hell would break loose.
civilians
open
You do not have to be a good person to live in this city; you do not have to be a bad one, either.
The everyday people, the ones who haven't fought for justice or gotten their paycheck from blood. Whether you're a doctor, teacher or anything besides, you're one of the people getting by in a city that would love to see you fail. Perhaps you are brave or perhaps you are not, but you're intangled in Heaven's End more than you'd like.
rules
rules.
rule one.
Please be 18+. While this won't be a necessarily heavy roleplay, there will still be some dark themes now and then.
rule two.
Absolutely no bigotry or bullying will be tolerated. This goes without saying, but be respectful of your fellow writers.
rule three.
Godmodding and overpowered characters are not allowed. Since this plot will focus on inter-character relations and some dramatic reveals, your character might stand to lose now and then. Please let others have their time in the spotlight!
rule four.
Characters are expected to be from mid-to-late twenties/thirties.
rule five.
The existence of soulmates is well-known and proven. A person will know somebody is their soulmate once they have fallen in love; a red string appears, seen only by them and connecting them by their ring fingers.
rule six.
Be able to post at least once per week. Since real life can quickly get busy, I understand if you need a break or might not be able to post, but please let me know in advance.
rule seven.
On that note, please be able to write at least two paragraphs! I won't be too strict on this rule, seeing as different scenes demand different lengths + sometimes your motivation just isn't working with you. But please try to give some detail for others to reply to. No one liners.
rule eight.
This is not first come first serve. Characters will be picked - this is not to be picky, but to have a cast that will work well together! Please don't be offended if you don't get accepted. c'': The character limit for now is 1, but will be limitless once the cast is chosen.
rule nine.
Please have a discord. It will be used for ooc discussions, news, plotting and the like.
rule ten.
Realistic faceclaims or descriptions only. No drawings or digital art.
