Realistic or Modern An unexpected chance for Anomalous Children

It was another warm and sunny day in the beach state of the west coast of the United States, The sun was out and everyone was enjoying the day, going out to beaches, having fun in the water at the beach or staying in and swimming in their backyard swimming pools, while others were going to public swim facilities and swimming there. Still, others were doing stuff that would still be able to keep them cool, like going to the movies and sitting inside the air-conditioned theaters, while others were staying at home keeping their air-conditioners turned up to the max setting and just having a fun day inside with the family. One person out of all the people is about to go and adopt a child or 4 of his very own. He had been wanting to adopt for a long time, and give a child or 4 children a nice and loving home where they can know true love instead of just abusiveness and having to wait until someone decided to adopt them. Once he had everything he needed, he started to drive towards the adoption center which wasn't as far as he had originally thought when he had called them earlier in the day.

As the man drove to the center, he couldn't help but wonder about if he would be able to even handle 4 children at once on his own. Regardless though of whatever he might have been thinking at the time, he would do his very best to take care of them and show them as much love as possible and be there for them when they needed him. He knew that if he adopted a teen, that he was going to have to give them their own room, because two teens sleeping together and without their own space, would just cause more trouble than it was worth if he was being honest. After a while of thinking, he decided to just let them choose their own rooms and hope that everyone would be happy. As he got to the center and parked and got out of the SUV he was driving. He also decided that he was also going to be taking them shopping and then take them to go and eat at a restaurant to celebrate coming together and his adoptive children's new lives with him. He figured he could also take them out and do something nice after they would get the necessary errands that needed to be done. He walked up to the center door and knocked on the door, not knowing what to expect, when the door was opened and he spoke to the worker that had answered the door and stepped inside as he looked around and just watched the children that were having fun and playing with each other and doing other things with their friends and fellow foster children.

Jade was still sleeping in since he had bad flashbacks that prevented him from sleeping and changing.Usually he could snap out of his flashbacks but this time he couldnt . The workers allowed him to sleep in since he gets crabby without his sleep. With one leg and arm off the bed he sleeps through the noise letting out dog like noises.

Daniel suddenly starts tossing and turning in his sleep because he can feel the negative energy coming from Jade. He can also tell that Jade is in his wolf form currently. He then wakes up and jumps down from his bed on to the floor. He is currently in his fox form. He then goes out of the room that he sleeps in and sneaks over to where Jade is sleeping and carefully gets on his bed before curling up beside him.

Ari was sitting in the janitorial closet, attempting to stay away from the other children and their noise. She was sitting in the darkness, reading a book in the thin stream of light coming from where the door met the doorframe.

She always woke up quite early in the summer since the morning light trespassed through her window and jolted her awake, so by 8:35 she had been up for a few hours already. The children had began to make unwelcome noise about half an hour ago as they awoke and picked up the ruckus from where they left off yesterday. But one unexpected sound hit Ari's ears.

A knock on the big front doors. It wasn't often that someone came to the facility. Children with supernatural abilities were not really sought after to build families with. They were more often thought as demons. Signs of the world's end. And then, Ari had to wonder, how many of the few who actually came to adopt anomalous children wanted them to exploit or run experiments on?

Ari shuddered, losing her page. She'd never find it again in the dark. She tossed the book aside and then decided to stay where she was. Lay low until the intruder was gone. Life was fine the way it was now. The constant youthful chaos around here was annoying, but Ari had been through much, much worse. It was more than she could've ever hoped for to be away from her Uncle and in a safe environment.

Still, she was constantly reminded of what she was. An anomaly. Everyone here was, and that took some of the sting out of the fact. Yet at the same time, it reminded her of everything she had been through because of that fact. She didn't want to be an anomaly. She didn't want her trait to be true. Maybe if it wasn't real, she could forget about what had happened.

Ari hugged her knees to her chest and waited, listening.

The man stepped into the building as soon as he was given permission to enter the building. He looked around at all the anomalous children as he walked towards the office and as soon as he got there, he started talking to the Administrator of the facility, he had already gone through several channels and done whatever paperwork had been sent to him and he showed the center that paperwork so that they knew that he was here to adopt and take home children that he could take care of. He continued to watch the anomalous children, some were turning into different small and cute little animals, others were able to create magical sparking lights that other children were gathered around and watching. Some seemed to have superhuman abilities, regardless of what they had as far as anomalous traits and abilities were concerned, to the man who was sitting in the administrators office, they were still children at the end of the day that in one way or another had been abused, abandoned or otherwise neglected and needed someone to show them that not all adults were the same and he was going to do that for the lucky children that got put into his care.

"Well everything seems to be in order, I'll go ahead and take you to the first child that you had expressed interest in. Ari is one of our more shy fosters, she doesn't much like to talk about her abilities and her background is a little bit worse than the others that are here at the care center, you see, she lost both her parents while she was still in preschool. She was then put with an uncle who the system had not at the time, known about his previous abusive behavior with other children that had been under his care for shorter periods of time than Ari had been, because of this fact and her history with abuse as well as the abilities she has, she likes to be in the dark more than the light. Her abilities are sometimes a little messy if she happens to get upset, so you should make sure to wipe her down before she is going to have something to eat and especially after she has something to eat or before she is about to get in the bath or is getting changed into clothes. She may be a high maintenance when it comes to her hygiene and general appearance, but if you do it enough as we have seen, it will definitely help her in the long run. She does like to read books, so we have been able to give her some books. I personally think it's best if this attitude towards books is encouraged, but she should also be able to have some personal time with whatever family/person she is placed with. Regardless though, you are here for the same reason that we are all here, to help these anomalous children and give them a better life so that in the long run, they are not haunted by their past and certainly not weary or afraid of the future and can be able to lead as normal of a life as we can possibly be able to give them despite their anomalous abilities." The administrator said as she walked into the Ari's room where the door was slightly open and lightly pushed it open and went inside. As the two Adults entered the room, the administrator would call out for Ari "Ari, sweetheart, it's Maria, can you come out for a second? There's a really nice man, who would like to meet you and adopt you. I promise he's not here to do anything bad and if he does, we'll make him leave." She said as she looked around for Ari, careful not to disturb the darkness in the room as she did so. Maria was always one to give the children the truth, even if it meant that the children might get upset or afraid, it's why she was so respected and loved by all of the children that were all at the center, Maria had never once, in her time as administrator, told the children that she met with and spent quality time with a lie, ever.

Jade woke up screaming which could be heard from all over the place. He already turned back to his normal human from when his flashback started happening again. He hide in the darkest corner of his room rocking himself.

Daniel watches Jade from the bed and thinks to himself before deciding it would probably be best for Jade if he left him alone for now especially if he was having flashbacks again about what happened at the nasty scientist lab. It probably won't help him to see a fox from the same place right now. Surely that would just remind him of it more he thinks to himself before jumping down from the bed and leaving the room.

He then walks around the adoption centre a bit before spotting a man. He starts watches him wondering what he is doing here. It's not very often that a stranger would be here. This really wasn't most people's first choices to come and adopt children from. He decides to get a better look at him and finds something that is higher up and jumps up onto it so he has a much better vantage point. He stares at him intensely watching him carefully from whatever he may be standing on. It seems like the man is with one of the people that work there and they are near some kind of closet or something. He doesn't seem to be trying to hide the fact that he is watching.

He counties to scream some random words that No one can understand. He eventually it stops and walks out of his room looking like a mess. He goes to the kitchen to grab an apple.

Ari's face twinged with conflict as she heard Maria calling for her in her room with a client. Ari wasn't in her room. She was down the hall, hiding in the janitorial closet.

She wanted to stay where she was, silently, and wait for them to maybe give up and find someone else. But an unexplainable urge demanded that she obey immediately. Saying no had always meant pain. Maria goes to where she hears the cough and motions for the man to follow. On the way though Maria encounters one of the middle school age children that were in the facility. She recognizes the child as Daniel and pats him on the head saying "Hello Daniel, how are you doing today? Is your friend Jade doing okay?" She asked as she looked at the boy for a moment and waited for the young shape-shifting boy to answer her. Once she does get an answer, she pats the boy on the head again and continues to walk towards where she had heard the cough, which was inside of a janitors closet surprisingly. She looked at the young girl as she said "Hello there, having fun reading Ari? I'd like to introduce you to someone, this is Logan, he's a very nice man and he's looking to give you a nice home with a fresh start." Maria said as she stepped to the side and closed the window blinds so that the room stayed dark, but still allowed for enough light so that Ari could see Logan and then let Logan go up to the young girl, which he did, but he made sure to stay at a safe and comfortable distance that he thought she was okay with, but still within view of Ari. He paused for a second and then said "Hello Ari, it's really nice to meet you. Like Maria said, my name is Logan and while I understand that your past has been very scary and just in general bad for you and while I can't promise you that there won't be others who aren't as mean and bad as your former uncle, I can tell you that I'm very much the opposite of him and I came here today, not to experiment or do any of the horrible things that many others have come here and adopted children to do to them, those people are bad, very bad people and it's only right that those with abilities like yours, should be fearful of how others may come to harm you in the future, instead I have come here because I wanna give you a chance at a better and normal life where you don't have to be afraid of what everyone thinks of your special and unique abilities that are a part of you and make you who you are, which is a very special child that deserves a sweet and loving home. I can also promise you that I will never try to harm you or anyone else that has the very special and amazing abilities that you children have, i'll also care and treat you like normal children or however you feel like you want to be treated." Logan said as he took a silent breath and watched the young girl's movements and body language as he hoped this wouldn't make her afraid of him and would allow her to be able to try and figure out if he was lying or not.

Logan hoped that Ari would be willing to give him a chance and maybe want to get to know him better, before she agreed that she would maybe want to try and be a part of a family that maybe, just maybe would be what she and the other children wanted deep down, even if they didn't know it yet. Logan was certainly looking at her with great interest, but not in the scientific interest, no way, instead he was looking at her from the perspective of a loving potential future foster father for the young girl. As far as Logan was concerned, Ari was not a monster or anything that the rest of the world wanted to think of them as. He would defend her as best as he could if any adult or child that tried to insult her while she was with him and he could see them, no one, absolutely no one, had any reason to throw these poor young children into the category of monsters and things that they feared just because of what they didn't understand or rather try to understand and get to know. They should know better than to hurt or try to insult children, but he knew that it was the worst thing that these children were being abused like they were. After a few more moments of silence he said "now that we have all that out of the way, are you okay with me trying to get to know you a little bit better Ari? If that's okay with you, then can you please nod your head? If it's not okay, can you shake your head no for me? If you shake your head no, then I will leave you alone and go to try and find another to see if maybe I can try and get to know them better, is that okay with you Ari?" He asked her and then waited.

Daniel notices Maria coming towards him with the man not to far behind her.
He watches them as they get closer to him wondering if the man has maybe come to adopt him?. Maria seems to approach closer to him. He then hears her saying hello to him and feels her pats him. As she pats him he lays down and rolls onto his back as he is pulling his front legs towards his body and looks up at her with a cute look on his face makeing a high pitched HEHEHEHEHEHHE kind of giggling noises that a pet fox might make if you pet them.

He then rolls back over so he is now the right way up and stop making the noise. He then looks at her trying to figure out what she is asking, it takes him a couple of minutes or so to be able to understand what she is asking him. He kind of excitedly jumps to answer the first question and then move his front right paw across the table to answer the second one. He then feels her pat him on the head and he made another high pitch noise before watching them leave.

He then lays there for a while before getting up and jumping down the way he got up. He then goes to find his friend Jade to see if he doing any better now.

Jade was in the kitchen eating an apple. He sits on the counter watching the kids through the open door.

Daniel walks around on the floor been careful to avoid people as they don't always notice him especially if they are rushing around and things like that. He looks around a bit not finding Jade. He then stops before looking up and noticing some boxes he could get up on to. walks over to one of the boxes and jumps up onto it before jumping onto another one of them and then he jumps over to the highest one. After he is standing up on the highest box possible looks around seeing if he can see Jade or not.he has a pretty good view over part of the adoption centre now. continues looking around seeing if he can spot him. After a couple of minutes or so he doesn't seem to be able to see him, he looks around for other things that he could possibly get up on to before jumping back down the way he got up there.

He then walks over and jumps on to a small table it doesn't give him much height off the floor and so he doesn't really have much of an advantage being on the table. So he jumps off and tries to find something else to get onto as he wonders where Jade could be, maybe he is in the bathroom or something like that he thinks to himself.
Continuing to walk around a bit before walking into the kitchen maybe Jade is in here he thinks to himself as he looks around the kitchen and just about manages to spot him sitting on the counter. Then looks around the kitchen trying to figure out if there is a way to get up to him.
Noticing the chairs he walks over to them before jumping up onto one of the smaller ones before jumping onto a medium height kind of one. then manages to jump over to the counter behind Jade. He then walks over to Jade and settles down next to him before softly putting his left front paw on him and looking up at him trying to get his attention. SugaISAMOOD

"Hello Jade" Daniel says before he starts to roll over onto his side as he starts makeing a high pitched HEHEHEHEHEHHE kind of giggling noises that a pet fox might make as you are petting him. he then starts trying to grab on to your sleeve of whatever you are wearing with his mouth and then tries to bring your hand to him as he uses his front legs to move your arm towards his body before holding onto it if he manages to do so. He continue to pet him for a while longer
"can you please stop petting me and could get me some breakfast please?" He asks Jade. SugaISAMOOD

He nods and gets you some food. He's wolf ears twitches slightly to the noise of the other children. He places the food of the counter in front

Logan smiled when he saw Ari nod yes to his question and said that she wanted to be adopted by him. He then got up when he saw her stand up and said "Why don't you go with Maria to go and get your clothes and toys and then we can go down to the office and finalize all of this. I'm gonna also say that most likely your gonna have some siblings that you can play with and have fun with and basically not have to worry about it." He said as he looked at her and just gave her a warm smile that let her know in some small way, that it was gonna be okay and that she didn't have to worry as much anymore.

He then waited for the two to go out of where they had been and as he walked with them, he couldn't help but notice that the little fox that had been sitting on the table that he had been sitting on earlier. He wondered where that fox went, he knew it was a fox and a boy if he were in here. Regardless though, he was gonna go and find Daniel in a bit and also go and adopt him and his friend as well. He figured that it would be best, since most likely he wouldn't wanna be separated from the friend that Maria had first mentioned when she had been talking to the boy on their way to go and see where Ari had been hiding at.

Daniel watches Jade as he gets him some food "noisy today isn't it again but then it's usually noisy here." Daniel says to you as he notices your ears twitching before looking at the food that you place in front of him "oh thanks but again canned pet food it's like they can't get me anything else or they just go for the easiest option here" he says to you sounding fed up about what they keep buying him to eat but he starts to eat anyway because he is hungry. After he has finished he just stays laying there next to you and puts his paw on you again. SugaISAMOOD

He nods and yawns since he never usually gets a good amount of sleep because of his flashbacks. He rests a hand on your fur.

Keethan got up. Partially from his nightmares, partially because his spirit counterpart seemed pissed at hi for waking him up, because he had a slight headache. He groaned “alright I’m awake” he went downstairs for breakfast and noticed a new man here, seeming like he wanted to adopt. That was unusual. Usually people didn’t want anomalous children. Too creepy for most. He wasn’t particularly interested in being adopted. So many families had came, a couple had even looked into him. But most said to him that they would come back when they were ready to handle me. But they never did.

oh well. If he did adopt him he’d be able to see what he’d done, and that could be interested. He went to grab some breakfast
