The Ink Shop
To most this was just a house that sat on the top of a hill in the quiet suburb of the small town of Rockford in Maine. To mutants, this was a home that they could find a safe space in with fellow mutants. Opened in the early 1900's by a wealthy and brilliant man named Leonard Ackermann he had put word out through the mutant community. Being a mutant was still not accepted in society and most of the time deemed a mental or physical illness. Most mutants were either locked up in jail or psychwards, and very few actually are able to control their powers to make it in society. Ackermann opened the home in hopes that people could come there, be themselves, and work to control their powers.
Ackermann even works as lawyer to represent mutants in the courts, and instead of jailtime he 'convinces' the judge with the help of mental manipulation to send them to the boarding home for some time. Over the years he had opened a few houses across the country but the one in Maine remains the most popular of the homes. Under the eyes of the government these homes were used as boarding houses for wayward spirits. They didn't need to advertise 'home for mutants' and attract any unwanted attention from the government. There were forces within the government that monopolized the powers of mutants, and if they didn't comply they were disposed of.
Welcome to Ackermann's, kick back for a spell.
