Guns feel kinda wrong in pkmn,
not that they shouldn't exist at all.
But I just saw that in-universe swat team armed with only their mons and batons
So I imagine them being stored and reserved for only the most extreme or military situations.
or maybe it's different in other regions? Unova got them 2nd amendment rights!

Otherwise, why would any aggressors use a pokemon other than the rule of cool?
or unless bulletproof
Gonna quote someone here:

"Remember that pokemon are not regular animals: some breathe fire or shoot lightning. Others have skin as hard as rock or steel, or are made of poisonous slime, or are ghosts. Others are incredibly fast, and can attack from underground."

I mean, they can shoot laser beams! A gun wouldn't be able to one -shot any of the stronger 'mons, speaking off...
Ah, see, this is where my ability to GM falls apart, as I pretty much stopped playing after gen 3 due to being too poor to afford a DS and new games.

With guns, I was referencing the Safari Zone episode of the anime, back in the first or second season. The warden of the Safari Zone had a shotgun, so the episode was cut in the USA. That's the episode where Ash somehow caught an entire herd of Taurus, leading to a lot of American children wondering when the fuck they showed up.
Sooooo, roughly how many bullets would it take to kill a Dragonite?

I say none if the bullets are small

Also, Pokemon was made in Japan, where guns are as rare as a blue moon among civilians so I don't think there will be a lot of guns among good, law-abiding trainers

Well, let's look at it this way, how many characters in the rp would have their teams completely nullified by someone pointing a gun at them because their team consists of several small mammals, an amphibian, a bird, and a plant thing. Generally, point-n-click is faster than charging your super lasers or whatever attacks, and most speedy pokemon that people would have would still likely die to one good hit... Yes, technically nearly any pokemon or even person could potentially outplay a gunman, just like any hostage could theoretically take out a hostage taker, but... you can probably follow the logic from there.

Could do something similar just by given bad guys more and bigger laser monsters... though, I'm not sure if that fact supports the lack or usage of guns, but something to think about.

but,
The real question is less how canon or effective guns are, but are guns a good idea for the rp and where should they be allowed? Will the presence of guns force people to feel a need to pick pokemon specifically to counter them or be potentially helpless just because they prefer fluffy friends?
Again, not saying no guns, but we gotta be careful.

Well, I'm pretty sure as players we can agree that we don't want tp limit each other by just pointing guns at one another to counter the pokemon. So let's just agree not to do that!:closed eyes open smile:

Edit: Like, guns can still exist, but let's not limit each other by using them specifically to stifle what somebody can do.

Just going to say that a lot of Pokemon can take thunderbolts, a gun would hurt them not anhilate them.

Anyways, if we are just not going to use them, why do we have guns? Wouldn’t it be simpler to say guns have just not been invented in this universe?

I mean, I doubt as players we're going to use guns AGAINST each other, but they might play a part on what some characters have or use against NPCs. I mean sure the threat could be used, and like most things that can be agreed upon before the person does it to somebody else. Since it relates with battles and those are going to be figured out in OOC as well. I see guns and legendaries as fairly similar though, unless welian clears it its probably best to assume you can't use it.

Yeah let's talk about something else

Like how possible it is to rig casino game with the use of psychic pokemon
I feel like they'd have a pokemon counter or something as the Casino Bodyguards. Off the top of my head I can't remember if a pokemon has an ability to stop psychic effects, but I'm sure there's one.

Yeah, that makes sense. Though defining how much damage a gun can do to a Pokemon is still important but I ques we’ll burn that bride when we get to it.

I don’t think there is. Perhaps we could make a ‘psyhic-block’ dark type move?

I would say I'm against the players having guns without special circumstances. Maybe some shop owners, certain police/military personnel or non-grunt-level villains... or preppers.
I mean, if I had a gun in the pokemon world I'd probably blast some bugs on every route because of all the kids that die to Weedle stings every year or something. [/darkhumor]
But I'm not against no guns at all either
--------
Anyways:
Depends on the game.
Also which is more subtle: Psychic mind manipulation, or Ghost-type possession? Can ghost-types rig the machines?
Bring a Rotom.
Is the gambler the one cheating or the house? How much trouble would either get in?
Not sure if Dark-types can protect trainers from influence.

Can all Psychic mons speak the human tongue via telepathy or is that just the more powerful ones?
Does Abra only do images and feeling, but Kadabra have full conversations?
And Alakazam control both sides of the conversation?
Is Alolan Raichu even capable of telepathy, or does it just have some telekinetic abilities?
And how well could you really survive in the desert with a water pokemon? Would it dry up too fast without its own hydration?
Do people without flying pkmn tend to fly via balloons? Like Pikachu or like Team Rocket?
How do people tolerate being in the vicinity of Muk and Trubbish?
Why did the characters in the Detective Pikachu game treat breathing poison gas like smelling a fart?

Hmm, for the first one... hows about I replace it with...
Do some water pkmn shoot salt water?

As for the second...
guess that's another reason Team R is always broke, so I'll give ya that.

I don't wanna dive into pokemon biology and debate about the anatomy of a Finneon and its salt filtration gills again

Thank you so much for tagging me. I wouldn't have found this otherwise--

I'll work on getting my character PMed ASAP.
