We ourselves, we ourselves must save ourselves! We shall defend ourselves to the last breath. We shall build a barricade of bodies and hearts. Our regiments, thrown against the enemy, battle with a dire courage; but they cannot hold, unless they are reinforced. We call all men: you must supersede them. Hear, we call all men to the last. We call you, men of this land: hear the call. Hear the call, hear the call to arms! We call you, women of this land: stand in, bear now the work of your husbands and sons, which you shall send to the battalions!
It is no longer a human voice that calls you, but your motherland itself. I, the motherland call all men to the last!
Me, the motherland pleads to her sons: defend me, defend my children!
Hey there, welcome to my lovely little wall of text.
A Nation's heart split in twain is an idea I had on my mind for quite some time now. Its goal is to go over the fates of several individuals caught within one of the most horrific events a nation can experience; a civil war. Taking place in a country of no real name, it'll be happening during the equivalent of our late thirties, with technology and all to compliment that. Of course, most of the inspiration will be taken from what is quite likely the most infamous European civil war of modern history; the Spanish civil war. The conflict itself will mostly be boiled down to the clash of two opposing sides, but characters on any side will very much be entitled to their own beliefs, speaking of which...
The two sides:
The Whites - Tradition, religion, and country. The Whites represent the old world, desiring strict hierarchy, refusing change and putting high emphasis on the traditions of their ancestors. Their ranks are formed by the professional military, officers, nobles, church representatives, nationalists, and anything of the sort. At the beginning of the war, their support is lesser to that of their enemy and they are the ones more likely to utilize extreme means to rat out their opponents.
The Blacks - Progress, freedom, and liberty. The Blacks stand at the center of the hurricane that is the new world, wanting progress, equality, and liberty above all else, or so they claim. Their number is counted by workers, politicians of the old republic that fell apart, socialists, volunteers from near and far, democrats, et cetera. The Blacks enjoy wide-spread support from the younger generations, students and village-folk. Their military training tends to be rather lacking.
The going of the war itself will be determined by the actions of the characters, there will be major consequences to major decisions.
You may choose to start out with either side or simply as a civilian caught in the crossfire.
The roleplay itself won't start in the middle of the war, but rather shortly before its beginning.
Any further questions will be answered.
