Fantasy Setting Summer Dawn (Medieval fantasy detailed) - ignore post count

OH! By the way, this week the lore will be pretty much editable, I don't want to deviate too much from what I made, but if there is something small that could be tweaked to benefit your character then please let me know. I tried to make the lore general and leave room for exceptions if people want to make characters that deviate.
Actually on another note, since healers are uncommon amongst Sumennans, would it be alright to have it be a small family line? Also would it be normal to have one assigned going on a mission into Cyndara? (:
I'm thinking her ulterior motives will be to learn further healing techniques from the Cyndarans

Also I apologize for the badly-hand-drawn map. Its not finished yet, but I wanted to share it.
Also don't you dare say thats badly drawn, thats amazing! I thought it was off one of those map generators!

That is a fantastic idea. *stamp* approved.

Wow... Just read through the lore section. I really enjoy the down playing of magic to force more creative characters. I've been looking for an rp to get in to now that summer break is two weeks away. I'll definitely post a character sheet as soon as the thread is up :3

Yeeeaaaaahh Brendan is joining!!!!!

SilverFlight SilverFlight Do you mind me asking what a dark faerie is ? I have an idea for one however I'm not quite sure if they are made up creatures or they already have preexisting roots in mythology.

Awesome, actually I just read the character guideline and I think you meant dark elves. Dark faeries might have just been a typo in this thread, but I'm going with it xD

For those of us making a noble house or a clan, should we include the house/clan history in our character’s bio or should that be written separately?
You can describe it in your character sheet and also give me a small paragraph to put in the official lore.

I definitely meant dark faeries, as opposed to light faeries, there's a distinction in this world, though I didn't write more about it. The dark elves definitely should follow some of the pre-exsiting lore, they're called the drow, though I doubt they'd be cursed high elves in this story.

I see! Well that's neat. I'm familiar with the Drow lore, I find them very fascinating. I'll try and flush out the dark faeries :3

Hello there! I really love all this world building and I think that there's a lot to explore. I have a species that I'm interested in using for my character but I wanted to double check with you since you mentioned that dragons aren't sapient in this world. I'll post the lore that I have for it, but just a forewarning, there may be a few typos - I'm absolutely shattered :ghostxnx:

The Dovahro Clan are quite unlike other clans that reside in the Mystlands as they very much isolate themselves from the rest of the inhabitants, save for their tentative but beneficial relationship with the orc clans.

They are a particular group of beastmen who believe that they're the descendants of the mighty dragon race, their human-like appearance with reptilian features being the foundation of that belief. True to that animalistic nature, they disregard Cyndabrynde's teachings of peace and community. They are fighters through and through, taught from a young age that self-preservation is everything and that protecting the Clan should be first priority.

Incorporating forest magic into their way of life, the Dovahro are able to transform parts of their body to replicate a dragon's. For example, one could reinforce their entire body with scales as protective armour, someone else could modify their legs for added strength which would allow them to jump great distances and heights, another could sprout wings from their back and take flight. Those who do not possess the innate affinity for that branch of forest magic are seen as burdens and often looked down upon since it's very much a culture where those who are powerful are respected.

Aside from forest magic, a Dovahro must also choose to specialise with a weapon since it is ingrained into them to use everything to their advantage. Weapon mastery can range from bows and arrows to spears, a fairly diverse range to choose from.

Since the Dovahro rarely leave their territory, they are shrouded in mystery and not much is known about them which is why they may even be regarded in fear as rumours paint them in an unpredictable and violent light. That is not strictly true. Since their own safety is their prime concern, getting involved with the affairs of the other clans is just something that they'd prefer not to do, nor do they appreciate the spying eyes of outsiders. All in all, they're an ostracised group and many of them (particularly the Elders) would prefer to keep it that way.

SilverFlight SilverFlight How does one keep track of time in this world ?
I was waiting for that question. XD There are old-school time devices that use the flow of water on a preset incline to measure a constant and linear flow of time. The device predates the division of the two peoples so both Sumennans and Cyndarans have and use the devices. Or, if you don't like that explanation...magic.

Rather than using magic, the Dovahro have the genetic ability to transform parts of their body to replicate a dragon's. For example, one can reinforce their arms with scales as protective armour, someone else could modify their legs for added strength which would allow them to jump great distances and heights, another could sprout wings from their back and take flight. Those who do not have that gift (though there are few and far between) are seen as burdens and often looked down upon.

Aside from the minor shapeshifiting ability, a Dovahro must choose to specialise with a weapon since it is ingrained into them to use everything to their advantage. Weapon mastery can range from bows and arrows to spears, a fairly diverse range to choose from.

Since the Dovahro rarely leave their territory, they are shrouded in mystery from an outsider's perspective and may even be regarded in fear as rumours paint them in an unpredictable and violent light. That is not strictly true. They just refuse any involvement with the affairs of other clans and do not appreciate unwanted noses sticking into their business. All in all, they're an ostracised group and many would prefer to keep it that way.

I really like them! I think, to fit them into the lore better they would be one of the beastmen clans, though perhaps ones that incorporate forest magic to help change their forms in the ways you describe. I can imagine they'd get along very well with the more distant (more aggressive) orc clans, and I may have some plot involvement for your clan if you're up for it.
