Well the first thing that happens to people who want to hire mercs is a secret background check done by Blackscales. Who they really are, where do they come from, what purpose do they want the mercs to fill, budget, etc.

So the answer to pirates attempting to hire mercs is a bolter bolt to the head at the hiring area/bar. The number of fools who think they are smart enough but end up dead is high enough to cause a semi-permanant red stain in a popular hiring location.

I would normally agree but there would be little difference if it was all in one big PM or if it was in a seperate thread in another OOC (where anybody could pop in and voice an opinion or something). Its just a matter of keep strict rules. Hey, this is for shit talking, the other is for planning purposes.

To run that kind of background check requires a hell of a lot of agents in different places. Dedicated agents who are resourceful and keep their ears open. I know that even the best agency won't have the resources necessary to know everybody, but chances are that they'd know quite a lot about Boss Masson.

They don't know every peasant and lowly knight but the Blackscales sound like they would know the bigshots. But they're not omniscient, so there may be a few things that they wouldn't know about Boss Masson.

I think your idea is sound, it doesn't require too much work and everybody is brought together for a purpose... shitposting is discouraged...

I was planning for the OOC thread to be a springboard where we can put together PMs for specific topics to keep everything organized, but that does sound like a lot of work. True. Its not fool-proof but they will keep an eye on the hiring person. Maybe have a Blackscale sneak in with one of the hired mercs.

After all, people can hire Blackscales too.

I think the roles are too splattered, the themes and plot tightness sprayed about — too much versatility, each trying to go their own way, and not to mention the vast amounts of regret.

Gods, we need a straight-edged structure, not necessarily linear, and a bit of reworking on the characters and their drives, which doesn't allow for a lot of multi-character interaction, apart from inclusive dogmas.

For the RP to live up to its name (political intrigue, possibly a bit of court drama, and then a whole lot of diplomat and spywork), we need thrice the count of people we have now, and the people to be in correct sync with each other — and, also, obsessive planning.
 
Guys, remember the proposal I made on creating a separate thread for planning the lore? Well, I can't wait any more, so I'm going ahead to make it myself. I'll give you the link once I'm finished, it shouldn't take long.
