OOC for Midheavens

i know i said id respond to the rp, but imma sorta waiting on Molli-chan to post to Wings too, so i can respond to both peeps <3 =)
 
Hi guys,

With Dilbert leaving, we have two open slots. I also need to see who is still active - I may relaunch or abandon the RP if enough people are inactive, as recruitment for something in progress isn't something I'm good at. Additionally, I may relaunch the RP even if we have sufficient active people, as I feel there's something inert about it (my fault, not that of anyone here).

I have seen recent posts by and/or am in contact with:

Alterius Alterius (has been talking to me in PMs; I don't recall them being present in the OOC)

I have not recently heard from:

EDIT: I will be making my decision Monday morning EST. I am leaning heavily towards relaunching the RP with fewer slots (only those of the people who tell me they are committed) and some smaller changes.

Kimona Kimona was waiting on a post from me, which i did promise to respond to, but i was waiting for your introduction to the dealie we talked about, between Wings and whoever was gunna come to her. ^^

but yes, im still interested in rping here :D and will remain here ^^ until the rp is officially stopped by you Molli (something i dont want!)

I was going to wait on Dilbert or Exanis to post and combine my reply with that, but if I decide to continue and not relaunch (there are some structural things I want to address that I think are inhibiting me), I'll reply without waiting for that.

No, I mean, I'm not sure whether a former member (who didn't express wanting to rejoin) takes precedence over someone on the wait list or not :closed eyes open smile: please give me a bit to figure it out.
 
You might consider what kind of a story you're hoping to have here. And what expectations you have of your players. If you have an overarching plot, if you're wanting (or expecting) players to bring specific stories or setting details, etc. call that out.

In my (admittedly limited experience), a good 50% of post delay comes from people unsure of where the boundaries are, how much leeway they have and whether or not a given post is going to move the story on. Or maybe that's just me. :)

Thank you for this advice. I think I've been unsure of those things, as well as how to drive the story, although I did have a basic overarching plot. I am looking for:
  • Something with an anxious, uncertain tone. Suspenseful, even?
  • As for things that happen, the story should appreciate how complex and crushing "non-magical" life can be, especially in terms of character relationships, but magic also plays an important role because it alters things on a cosmic scale.
  • The overarching plot involves the characters struggling to make their wishes a reality (and fill the scarcities in their life) in the face of an increasingly chaotic world, while they discover magical secrets that make them question the nature of their lives.
  • In terms of player boundaries, I expect players to make their characters pursue (a) particular goal(s), and make up small, lore-compatible setting details (e.g. a coffee shop you love, what the sidewalk looks like where you are, the park where something horrible happened). I will provide opposition to the goal, and setting where players don't provide it.

The bit about the post delay is pretty true.

I ADMIT. I'VE BEEN LURKING.

Quincunx Quincunx If you decide to relaunch, I will likely jump back into the rp if you'd be willing to let me.

Just with the current state of the rp as it is now, I am a little uninterested in continuing. I really like the premise of the rp, but I just think that it was and is progressing very slowly and is struggling to stay afloat. Maybe with a fresh restart, it could do better. :closedeyessmile: Of course, it's all up to you and I don't mean to pressure you into relaunching the rp if you're not going to.
 
i like the rp, i do, i dont even think its progressing necessarily bad (albeit slow), i just think we have no direction as actual plot :s thats where im hung up on, like i was waiting on your next post to wings so ihas plot to respond to

I will likely be relaunching it, even though we might have fewer players. I am considering adding a stipulation like "please post at least once every two days (I'm enforcing it this time), and if you don't know what to do, Mollisol needs to clarify something". There will also be things posted like my reply to Epiphany, and a clearer overarching plot than "fight Nadirs and find out bad things".

I don't like how slow it is; I'm constantly worrying it's going to die. The main thing with the plot is that I'm reacting to players a lot; I think I need to give them more to react to.

It also needs restructuring in some other areas, which are things I have run by you personally in a private message. Hopefully, between that, the clearer guidelines, and the clearer plot, it should run much more smoothly.

yes exactly, thats what i was meaning!
and youve outlined more ways to "fix" your rp than i ever did in any of mine lol so i think thats a success!
