News Status of Hosted Projects

Hey All,

Today I’m going to finally talk about Hosted Projects after things have calmed down a bit since the site went live. For those of you who have been here the longest, I am sure you have all seen the different variations that Hosted Projects have taken over the years. We will be returning the format that we had pre-IPS, which did not require an add-on (until we find a suitable one. The IPS one was bad in many aspects, and nothing decent seems to exact on xF due to most developers waiting for the big release of xF2 before coding new addons). For those of you familiar with the previous system, it means that The Administration and I will assume direct control/jurisdiction of Hosted Project Applications, Creation, and Support, since the moderators cannot create new forums on the site.

This means that after 250+ posts (the previous requirement) users will be able to see a Hosted Projects Support section under Admin Contact.

NOTE: Applications are currently not being accepted until we settle in everyone who previously had an HP.

Since we will be returning a setup where we have to manually approve and create HPs, it means we will also grant HP creators who get approved Prefixes and other functionality that has been dearly missed that did not exist back on the IPS site before the update.

Existing HP Creators
If you currently own an HP, we require that you reach out to us in Hosted Projects Support, and let us know which and all HPs you own so we can begin restoring your ability to moderate your own HP and process any prefix requests you may have and evaluate if your RP still belongs as an HP.

Since regular roleplays now have access to threadmarks (which HPs can also use) and with tabs returning in the future (xF 2.0), not every RP needs to be their own Hosted Project. We will never stop supporting thread roleplays on RPNation, and thread RPs are being improved upon constantly.

We want to make sure that Hosted Projects transcend that system and are something of a big deal if you will. We want to be be able to alert and make announcements when a new one is created and have pride in them.

Creators who do not reach out to us within 14 days will have their Hosted Projects immediately archived.

I was hoping that Hosted Projects haven't outlived their usefulness. Time to see if any hosted projects of mine are worth keeping.
 
I have a lot of HP's that were made but they died because interest was slow or I rped and then everyone just dissapered of the site. So any HP's made by me you can just delete. I won't be visiting them ever again.
 
Just a quick question;
Would I be able to do this for a friend, or would my friend need to do it because the HP is tied to their account?
 
The Dark Wizard The Dark Wizard If a thread RP would metastasize into something larger than just for a thread, could it be considered for it to be moved into a HP? I'm asking because I believe the thread I am making fits this bill, and to be honest I don't know if I should start it now, or wait until I can just start the HP.

One thread no. Several threads probs not, we'd encourage you to use links/threadmarks/future tab system.

I recommend you start it now and wait for us to open applications so you can see what exists as some examples.
 
Seems good. I've went through them, but how I want to create it it will span over multiple threads. At least five currently. These would all be RP based threads that are required for the story. I just meshed the Interest check/Character app thread to make it easier on myself.

Link them together honestly. Utilize Threadmarks, its fine. When I make a RP in the foreseeable future, I'll use it as an example of the full power of threadmarks.
 
I'll have to read on them. I didn't know they were a thing. I've been out of the game for a while. Thanks for snappy replies as always. and that was suppose to be size 1... lol

So we can restore your functionality, evaluate to see if it deserves to still be a HP and because if you don't we will automatically archive it in 14 days.
 
So I have two active HPs, one has been around for a year (it's active, but it's very slow with the activity) and then the second one has been around for a good three to four months maybe more and is quiet active.

So what needs to be done is that I need to send those is for the admins to decide if they can stay or be deleted?

I'm just confused and bit angered over this action. The one that is slowly active is over a year old but the people involved are very detailed rpers.

What are the qualifications needed to keep HP-rps from being deleted after being submitted.

Nothing gets deleted, worse case it gets sent back to the regular rp sections.

Just send us your links and we can talk about your needs for your HP. I've been flexible with users.

All hosted projects were deconstructed into normal threads for the most recent update. Just please be patient as there are many hosted projects to get to and only a few on the admin team to look each thread over case by case.

Will we be contacted by an admin once our HP has been looked at and approved?

We have no estimated time due to admins being real people and not AIs, believe it or not. Just be patient until one of them comments on your support thread. ^^
