When GM's special friends act as moderators without officially being moderators OR are moderators but GM never bothers to mention it. Get it together GMs just let us know who is actually a moderator. D:

This happens so much and yet it has a very simple solution: Tell the players who the moderators are.

Edit: Also don't give your special friends the impression that they can moderate your RP without being moderators, just cos they are your mates.

When you got a big group in an RP, and it's been days without anyone else posting since the RP got going.
Like.... any of y'all can go ahead and post now. Anyone? Hello?

ppl hating on bbcode(rs) is so fucking annoying like lmao stfu it's clearly not aimed at you(r demographic) if it peeves u dumbass

A) Can't that be said about literally every pet peeve? Like, do you find it equally annoying when people complain about, say, overpowered characters?

B) Even if it's not aimed at me, or my demographic, doesn't mean that people won't use bbcode that's literally unreadable in roleplays I join and/or run.

I mean I find it annoying because people make the same three or four complaints in these threads and you don't really get any new conversation going.

When people write their Interest check titles and say something like "A single fandom!"

Buddy, if it ain't a list, just put that fandom in your title. It'll save everyone a click, and having to read through your 3 paragraphs of 'okay, so this one time, my cousin, Ignacio...'

Just...
The lack of people that can actually carry a story bugs me. Like. You aren't contributing shit, dude

Hey, Ignacio is a fun guy. His stories are worth the read. lol

When you see an interesting Group rp check but realistically will never be able to keep up if you join.
Keeping up isn't my issue. It's the opposite (sort of). I've already tried to join a couple groups on here, and THEY. DON'T. MOVE! I even came late to the party, so to speak. I thought I would have a lot of catching up to do. But I get in my CS and whip up a post, put it up..... and find myself waiting for days on end. So after like a week of waiting for any of the other half-dozen players to do anything, I saw myself out. Now, I seem to be going through the same exact issue with a new group.

Or worse, when you actually want to make your own Group rp, but realistically will never be able to maintain it.
Oh... this has happened to me so many times that I refuse to try and run anything anymore. I have so many ideas, but I can't run them. I already tried pitching one for a co-GM on here but got literally zero interest. So fuck doing that anymore, either. I just recycled the post into a general interest advertisement (which also has so far gotten zero responses).

I'd have to say that a personal one of mine is when the person says, ' I'm good with whatever!' and then when you suggest a idea they give you a ' I don't want to do that ' response but when you ask for their input its a 'idk or idc' because its so frustrating.

Also, plotting out a rp, deciding everything and then boom. No reply or they've ghosted you. It's happened so many times that I used to try not to get too attached to a roleplay because I know that it'll inevitably come to a end.

Idk if I said it here already before, but when the person clearly shows that he/she has not read your reply / starter / lore. You give one hell of a starter/reply and they answer with something that totally doesn't follow up with what you posted. It shows that he or she clearly didn't read what I typed, or only skimmed it briefly.

This happens so much in 1x1, but happened a couple times in groups too. Except that in group roleplays, there's also people who did not read the lore.

And I get missing some details about the lore, which is fine, it happens--but missing the lore as in missing the huge, central part about it, which is connected to what the roleplay is even about. Makes me think if the person even spend a minute looking through it or not before saying he/she is interested. Kinda annoying when you're GM-ing the roleplay too.

No shit! Peeps who TL; DR should be an insta-kicked. Clearly these ppl don't give a damn about reading responses. And that's like half of the RP experience! If you can't take the time to read, why are you even here?

When people choose space as their setting and then just... have the laziest worldbuilding imaginable. Everything is Earth 2.0, or rather, thinly veiled America with futuristic aesthetics. And the thing that makes me see red? "Well, on my planet, people speak x language :)" Dude. You expect me to believe that there's ONE language for the entire planet? Seriously? How small is that planet? (And yes, this does make me irrationally angry. I see how petty my anger is, and I choose to revel in it.)

How about the large planet is all ice. The next one in line is a nearly plantless and waterless desert. The next looks like Japan. The next one it all water. The next one just like Africa. Or that the whole planet must have a huge hive mind of no different morals, spirituality or thinking.

My problem is that I have outlined HUGE, galaxy wide universes in space opera settings. Planetary environments (with biom differentials) cultures, languages, alliances, etc. etc. With about a dozen planets or so. It's a small manual's worth all on it's own, tbh. But then no one wants to read it all. It's too much for most people to go through, and it turns the majority of people away. Imagine having to read a small Wiki's worth of info just to participate.

Hello! My pet peeves mainly consist of finding partners who actually want to help push the plot along! The sad part is most of the time they are very literate, and write beautifully, but within the 4+ paragraphs they've sent, it's 90% filler. They'll mention random events that have nothing to do with the development of the character, or the current plot. It's like they're trying squeeze in extra details to purposely make it longer so it appears they're contributing, but I'm still doing all the leg work. I've always been straight forward with my partners and let them know there is no particular mandate to send lengthy responses every time.

On the otherhand, I have run into tons of people who also completely railroad the rp. Their character will do twenty different things in the span of one response. They'll control how my character acts and I don't have the opportunity to react to even half of the stuff their character has done. It's crazy. Like if you want to completely control the plot, write a fanfiction or something.. 🙄

I recently RPed with someone who did both of those. They would make 90% filler/monologue posts and give me very little to react to, and then I suggested that we start some new action, and after we discussed what kind of scene we wanted to do, I asked them to set the scene for the encounter. I did this because I wanted to see them actually advance the plot, but their next post was basically doing a billion things and killing all the bad guys. In that case I put it down to inexperience. Kind of shame, because our characters had a nice dynamic on paper at least.

Well, that makes sense. Tbh, I wouldn't want to read it, either-- at least not before the roleplay itself starts. I think these things need to be introduced gradually. Ideally, the players should only have to be familiar with the lore tidbits that are relevant to their character. Like, I also know shit about most countries that aren't my country/countries culturally adjacent to my country and I still manage to exist on the planet Earth. It should be the same for the characters.

i don't control other characters, but i know i have the tendency to make filler posts and honestly it even makes me angry 😭

on another note, when people don't read the rules you post on your thread make me kinda angry lol.

Same! A lot of people just gloss over my rules and it gets on my nerves! It happens far too often!

Yeah, I do get a lot of rule skippers too! It's pretty obvious they didn't read them because they proceed to ask me something I have listed in my rules. Secondly, some of them read but choose to ignore. 😭

I haven't done any actual new RPs in aaaaaaages now lol, but something that ever-so-slightly irritates me when browsing the forums and looking through CSes is... likes and dislikes. Or how most people fill them out.

Likes: Good food, her friends, sunny days, the beach
Dislikes: Liars, hypocrites, bad people, loud noises

I don't know if this is unreasonable of me or not, but... BRUH these are things that everyone likes or hates. I haven't seen a single person who likes a liar, these things tell me zilch about your character as an individual. In my opinion, the things that should go in these lists are things that are tailored to your character. Things they like/dislike that regular people might not. Or better yet, just scrap the list and figure that crap out in-character. I'm not even too terribly in favor of character sheets as a whole.

I don't really like when roleplays require you to have a face-claim/photo of your character. I don't know how common this is now because I haven't roleplayed in a while; but in the past it just seemed like people assumed you would provide one, and I never got why? Like, it's cool to have, but this is a written medium so surely a written description of their appearance is just as good? Idk.
