Fantasy Wolf in Sheep's Clothing

The woman nodded softly and then she smiled. "As long as you are aware." She said then waved for Luna and Kaigen to follow her out toward the front. "Let's go fill out some paperwork." She said then turned and started toward the front.

Kaigen took a deep breath and held it for the count of five then sighed softly. This was actually about to happen. He was going to a home with someone who didn't seem to mean him any harm. He shifted his weight slightly, still on his knees and turned his feet so his toes were against the floor then stood up in a single move. He took another deep shaky breath and looked at Luna. He was tense and nervous again. He was worried about leaving the kennel, walking past the other wolves and then leaving for the unknown.

Luna gave a happy nod to the woman and watched her walk off. She was excited. Her life, along with Kaigen's was going to change and hopefully for the better! She turned back to Kaigen and watched him get up. She could notice him being tense again and walked up to him.

"You nervous again?" She asked softly. She wanted him to be comfortably, but she didn't know how to calm him down. She lightly placed her hand on his shoulder and smiled at him. "It's okay, okay? If you're scared or nervous of those other wolves yelling at you then try to ignore them we'll walk out very quickly." She said trying to comfort him.

Kaigen shuddered under touch, he wasn't used to that and he slowly pulled back a little. He shivered all over, trying to shake off his nerves. "I'm not scared of them... I just..." He took a deep shaky breath. "I've never been outside the fenced areas or the pit. I don't know what it's like... Out there." He said nervously tugging lightly on the hem of his shirt. He wasn't sure what the outside world was like and that scared him. Kaigen shivered all over again and managed a small smile. "I want to know, what it's like out there." He assured her.

Luna looked at Kaigen and nodded as she pulled her hand away from him and back down to her side. "I see, well you won't be able to see much of the world today, as the walk to my house is only a few minutes from here, but another day we should definitely walk around the city together." She said with a smile and she held her arms behind her back. "Maybe once you're more used to the outside world, and if I ever manage to get a car, we could even travel out further than just the city." She said a bit happily not having been outside the city much, or at all herself. "That is a goal that's a long time from now. Today's goal is just getting home." She said before poking her head outside the kennel and looking around before slowly walking out. She began making her way towards where the woman went before turning back to Kaigen as she stood a bit closer to the door.

Kaigen paused in the doorway of his kennel, he hadn't been in the hall since he was being taken and back and forth from the doctor. He took a deep breath and shook himself lightly. He started out and followed after Luna, some of the other wolves took note but most didn't care. One though did call out, "Look, the runts gonna be a lap dog now." She jeered, but she stayed back from the glass door, just simply trying to pick on the poor young pup.
Kaigen didn't even flinch as others started laughing and joined in the name calling; "Bye-bye FiFi" "Purse puppy" they weren't like the vicious things they'd been saying earlier that day. When Kaigen got to Luna he blushed lightly, embarrassed about the names, it was basically bulling from peers.

"Alright," The woman running the shelter said lightly, ignoring all the names being called from the kennels. "It's just some basic information needed on this page. He'll need a follow up check up for the broken ribs, he's been healing just fine but we should keep an eye on that. I have recommended foods listed on this page, and if you could sign this page stating you will not have the suppressor chip removed unless it is medically necessary..." She trailed off as she started to double check all her forms. The suppressor chip was designed to keep Werewolves from changing form completely, and it often resulted in the almost split personalities that Luna had already seen in Kaigen.

Luna gave a slight eye roll to the wolves calling out names, but ignored them for the most part like the other two. She waited for Kaigen to catch up before turning back to the woman. She listened to what she had to say and nodded at her. She took and skimmed through the papers only really reading the more important things such as recommended foods, medical history, and anything else like that.

She looked around and grabbed a nearby pen before moving to a desk filling in her own personal that was needed and reading the page about the suppressor chip. She tapped the pen on the desk as she read through it carefully. She had heard about the chips a bit here and there but the paper did seem to explain it very well. She looked over it one more time before signing the paper.

She checked to make sure she had everything that needed to be filled complete before handing them back to the woman. "I think that's everything miss."

"One final touch," the woman said and she gently took Kaigen's left arm and placed a mostly leather cuff/brace with a fingerprint reader as a lock. It was leather to be less of an irritant than metal and there's no risk of the metal being silver contaminated. His name was engraved in the leather. This "name tag" leather cuff could only be removed by a staff member at the shelter. "If for any reason he gets lost he'll be ID'd by this cuff and brought here. The paper work has a long in for you to add your preferred contact information in case of an emergency." She said as she gently tugged on the cuff to check it wasn't too tight.

Kaigen was uncomfortable with the woman holding onto his arm, but he managed to stay perfectly still as she fussed about it. Once it was done he turned his arm slowly in half circles looking at the cuff now encasing his wrist. He shook his arm lightly testing the feel of it. He looked confused about how it felt circling his wrist. It was strange that he had full movement of his arm and it wasn't burning his flesh, but it was like a cuff he'd worn before in the pits.

"You'll get used to it," the woman promised with a smile. "That's all that we need. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to call us." She said in closing before she was called off to help with another adopter.

Luna nodded at the woman and watched curiously as she grabbed Kaigen's arm and put a cuff around it. She took a closer look and saw that Kaigen's name was written in the leather. Was it some type of name tag? She wondered to herself. And as if the woman read her mind, she explained to her what the cuff did as she fiddled with his arm.

Luna nodded at the lady with a smile as she glanced at Kaigen moving his wrist around. She smiled and waved goodbye to the woman as she was called away to another person. Luna stared at the woman for a moment before turning back to Kaigen and looking at his new cuff. "How does that feel?" She asked motioning to the cuff before glancing outside seeing that the crowd had shrinked a bit in size.

"So...the crowd has seemed to die down a bit. Unless you have something else you wanna do here, do you wanna head home?" She asked feeling a bit excited to show Kaigen her, and now his, home. "I don't know if we'll come back here anytime soon, so if there's anything you wanna do now's the time to do it." She smiled and glanced at some of the other people who are currently adopting some of the pups and other wolves that were out front.

"It's different and weird..." Kaigen said shaking his hand again, as if he thought he could shake the cuff off. He tilted his head to left looking at Luna with a confused stare. "Wh-what would I do here?" He asked not knowing what she could possibly mean. The only wolves he knew here who didn't want to rip him apart were the little ones that didn't even know who he was. It'd been very different back in the pit, the way he and others had looked and acted and even smelled different. If the pups could be spared the memories of their time in the pits and of Kaigen literally huddled over them taking a beating to shield them... Well, the staff at the shelter had told him it was best that he left them alone. "I think we should just leave," he said lightly gently pulling on the cuff, just fiddling with it.

Luna quickly turned back to Kaigen having her own little confused expression at Kaigen's confused expression. Hearing that he just wanted to leave made her feel a bit bad for asking but she quickly nodded. "Ah, I was just asking." She said as she rubbed her head a bit sheepishly before heading towards the front and out of the shelter passing through the small crowd. She quickly checked to make sure Kaigen didn't get caught up in the small crowed of left over people before looking down the block towards her house.

Kaigen shook his hand once more harder this time, as he followed Luna out the door. He paused when he saw the crowd. It was startling. He hadn't been in a crowd before... He had seen crowds of people, and it had been loads louder, but he'd never walked through one. He was slow and cautions as he weaved through the people following behind Luna. He flinched when people got too close to him and he was noticeably shaken when they reached the sidewalk. His breathing had become shallow, quick, sharp breaths through his nose. He shivered all over hard, trying to shake the unease off.

Luna turned back away from the direction they would be walking in and back towards Kaigen as he caught up to her. She was quick to notice his very obvious uneasiness and gave him s bit of space to breath before trying to calm him down a bit. "Hey...It's okay. That was probably the hardest part of today's walk as there shouldn't be anymore crowds. So good job walking through the many people." She said with a little cheer hoping a bit of encouragement would bring a bit of confidence back to him. "It's just a quick walk back to my house then it'll be nice and quiet." She said with a confronting smile before beginning to walk away from the shelter and towards her house. She tried to stay close to Kaigen as she walked not wanting him to panic or tense up should they pass a few people on the sidewalk.

Kaigen brightened a little as Luna praised him, he wasn't used to it but he did enjoy it. He nodded softly and shook again all over, leaving his uneasy there. As they started walking down the road he couldn't help looking around at everything. It was all new and different. It had different smells and sights, he was surprised by how colorful the world actually was. He started looking all over, even walking sideways and backwards for short periods as he stared at things. Like the trees, and some brightly colored cars. Just random things that most people wouldn't even pay notice to. He paused for a moment and squinted at a one of the trees. There was a squirrel on the trunk of the tree, flicking his tail. "Wha-what-what is that?" Kaigen asked tilting his head from side to side watching it flick it's tail.

Luna kept walking straight looking from side to side here and there at the different shops that filled the sides of the streets. Everytime she looked back at Kaigen he was always looking at something new and she always gave a small laugh. She was glad he seemed to be curious, and maybe even enjoying himself as they walked down the block. She paused when she heard Kaigen call out and looked at him before looking at the squirrel he was staring at. "You mean the squirrel?" She said with a laugh. "They're harmless for the most part. And usually just run off if you get to close to them." She explained to him still keeping her eyes on the squirrel. "They can get a bit annoying though. Especially if you have a garden. They always steal from the plants." She put her hands in her pocket and smiled as she has never personally had problems with squirrels.
