Anime & Manga What was the first anime that you ever watched?

[QUOTE="Captain Hesperus]Saw that one too, enjoyed it immensely.
Captain Hesperus

I remember I was so excited about the television show I went out and purchased the DVDs from Walmart.... and when I got home, the first one was completely blank. x_x

Technically, the first anime I watched could be Sailor Moon. But I was so young I don't remember it at all. lol. So the first anime I watched was probably Digimon, then Pokemon, then Yugioh, and then Mew Mew Power (aka the Americanized version of Tokyo Mew Mew).

But the first decent, not totally Americanized, dubbed anime I watched was Full Metal Alchemist. :) It was the first anime I became insanely addicted to. haha.

Probably Saint Seiya, as every kid in my country did 20 years ago.

My first would technically have been Pokemon, but I was younger than 6 and didn't even know what anime was then. It was as good as a Cartoon Network show for me. Dragon Ball Z was, arguably, the same. I was older then, but still didn't know what anime was. xD

If those don't count, then my first would Rurouni Kenshin, as I watched it after becoming aware of the concept of anime. Never got too far into it as we only had the first season on DVD, but it was fun for the time. I probably dinked around with a few other shows after that, but I don't recall much other than seeing the first episode of Sailor Moon and shuddering.

The first anime I really got into though, and the one that led me to watching more anime inside the loveingly addictive depths of YouT00b, was Berserk. Long story that one, but to boil down my discovery of the show, my dad got me a figure from it at an Asian hobby shop when I was about 6, I loved the thing to death, and then years down the road I stumbled across an auction for the same figure on ebay. "Ye gods" I thought, "That's ma boy!" So I did my research and viola, I found and died for Berserk. Pretty good show (though the manga is far superior), but looking back on it, the animation is pretty sucky (not to mention that English dub. Ugh. @.@).

After that came Code Geass, Death Note, Ouran High School Host Club, Sword Art Online, Cowboy Bebop, Neon Genesis Evangelion, and the list goes on and on and on. xD

I feel so odd, I have never seen a full episode of Naruto, Dragonball Z or Pokemon--though my kids have. In fact at this point I am so behind and my kids are way more Otaku than I am. I am so behind on current anime (though I try to catch what I can). And they have stacks of manga over what I have, lol Well at least I 'trained' em well.

First anime I watched was NGE, the second was Boku No Pico (I was bet £100 to watch it...)

I think it was Pokemon or Yugioh? I never really watch them; well, it was more like I'll watch them if nothing was on. However, Dragonball and Bobobobo were the first animes I watched out of sheer entertainment. Bo was really weird, but it was hilarious to me.

I wished SAO actually tried at the ending of Season 1. It's a great anime, but just the ending was terrible. Also SAO is just like Frozen, a bit over hyped than what it needs to be. I'm sorry if that offended anyone. I would understand if you were hyping up the first, but most definitely not the second. They made the whole focus point of the anime about the main character's relationship much more important than the overall plot of survival. I'm not so sure if the second season is entirely successful in redeeming such a work of art. It will take a lot in order to make a comeback. Well, to me.

@Kinxus Koi ...you're not an SAO fanboy... I F**KING!!!!

Appreciate you, for once someone who realises that SAO was an okay anime, but it was still terrifyingly over-hyped, you my dear sir, deserve this

oMG, THANKS! I know right, SAO was alright. They could have done a lot better. I will take the cookie with great honor!

One think that annoys me the most, is the so-called 'romance' I mean... It was like this

Boy fights with girl, then leaves

Months later, he irritated her

Hours later, he gets her to sleep on grass

Later, they go for dinner and end up solving a 'crime'

They party together, Boy joins girl's guild, nearly gets killed, randomly confesses his feelings and proposes

Boy gets married with girl, adopt kid? Kid vanishes from existence

Girl gets killed, boy rages then dies, resurrects, wins, happy reunion

Wooooooh

Then she gets abducted in another VR game, boy becomes Kayaba's reincarnation *derp*, boy saves girl again

Woop woop, all dat logic!

The following sentences are 100% true (for a given definition of true)

1: I like SAO, a lot, it's currently one of my favorites

2: Kirito is totally a mary sue, this is not inherently a bad thing.

3: The romance plotline was cute, but a little forced.

4: Asuna's character arc was bad, and the writers should feel bad.

5: Kirito is so blatantly and obviously a mary sue.

6: I find myself liking a Sue character better these days than generic everyman protagonist #379726

I watched it for the action. I like animes who stick to there tone of plot. If they start off with action, they better end that way, and vice versa for romance. If you even out the ratio between each other, the it'll be a great roleplay. Keep it both subtle.

To be honest, in my eyes Log Horizon was far, far superior; but hey, I guess that's like comparing apples and oranges.

However, I would like to make a character based on the concept of SAO. I find it pretty cool. Although, I want to make it where there's not an really ounce of happy endings. With plot twist galore that'll stab you in the back without mercy. Much, like The Walking Dead (video game).

Out father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, by kingdom come thy work be done, on earth as it is on heaven, give is this day out daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, in the name of the father, the son and the Holy Spirit, amen.

Don't ask.,. I'm an atheist in a catholic school.,,
