Jackson

Jackson felt terrible but was shocked at how she wasn’t flipping out right now and trying to beat the crap out of him. He knew little of her but he did know photography was her life to say the least so to see her not feeling out by her camera being possibly broken was a little shocking. Snapping out of it as she turned to him with his note pads. “I-I’m so sorry Lulah.” He whispered as he was about to grab his notepads from her when she asked him about the camera.

Almost instantly he was laying down in the foot space to try and grab it. Hopping it wasn’t broken. As he leaned down and stretched his arm out with a few struggled grunts to reach the camera he soon got a hold of it and pulled it back up. Quickly getting up and sitting next to her he gently handed over the camera. “I’m so sorry. I didn’t break it did I?” He questioned with worry as he looked the camera over to see.

As he was studying the camera he noticed the painting mask of his sitting between her feet and panicked a little. Leaning down he grabbed it and slipped it into his bag before looking to the task at hand of her camera.

Sean's eyebrow arched at Ash at her explanation. "Well I don't exactly believe that you're fine, but if you're not ready to talk about it I won't pressure you. When, or if you're ever ready to talk about it I'll always be here for you." he gave the blonde a small reassuring smile. The Woods boy was visibly shocked when Ash admitted she was fighting with Grace and had quit the cheer team. Cheerleading was something that she was really passionate about as he remembered. It didn't seem like her to just up and quit. Things must be seriously hard for her right now. Sean's eyes betrayed his worry for his ex but he refused to press her on the subject. He couldn't help her if she shut him out for pushing it. No, Ash would come to him in her own time, and he would be there for her in whatever capacity she needed. She was stubborn but not stupid.

"It's not stupid things. They're important to you, so it's not unexpected for you to feel strongly about those things, and for them to effect you. Your feelings are always valid. Whatever you need, whenever you need it, let me know Ash. I care about you." and Sean truly did. Just because they weren't a couple didn't mean he no longer cared. He knew the West girl too well to shut her out of his life because they weren't dating. That and he truly enjoyed being friends with people who weren't vapid like a lot of those who gravitated to him. Ash was one of those few diamonds in the rough that he wanted to keep close. The blond's words brought Sean back to reality and he chuckled. "Yeah sure, but don't cry when the opposite comes true." He moved to open the door for her but froze in place after a tug at the handle. As hard as Sean may have pulled the door wouldn't budge. "Uh-oh..." he said quietly. He gave the handle a few more hard pulls. Nothing. "We may have a problem Ash." the brunette teenager said giving a glance back to Ash. He banged on the door with his fist as hard as he could and after a couple moments of silent inactivity he pressed his ear to the door. The game had started and Sean could hear the hoots, hollers and other noises of the game being played. They were't going to be heard over all that racket. He turned to face his friend. "Either the door is frozen or we're locked out. Pounding will be no use; the game started and they won't hear us. We're stuck out here for now Ash." Winona Winona

Light brown eyes downcast, Tallulah muttered a tiny "It's okay, I'm sure you didn't mean it..." She was really hoping that the camera was still functional, or at least fixable if it was broken. Polaroid pictures held a special place in her heart and she had saved up so long for that camera. If it wasn't salvageable she knew she would probably start bawling right there, and that wasn't an image she wanted people to have of her. Her hands greedily, but carefully snatched the device the second it was brought to light. She flipped it over and over in her hands searching for any damage. There was a tiny rattle coming from somewhere inside the frame and both Lulu's heart and expression dropped. "No, no, no..." Her hands trembled slightly and she could feel tears start to well in her eyes as she continued to look her camera over. She glanced up at Jackson and saw that he was speaking but could only hear the rush of blood in her eyes. Her face was turning bright red with embarrassment. Was there really any reason to be this upset? It was only an object after all, it could be replaced. But she couldn't help herself. If there was damage to the delicate lens Tallulah was going to be absolutely heartbroken. Her gaze moved back down to her precious device.

The only visible damage Lulu could find was a crack in the glass of the viewfinder. She let out a breath that she didn't know she was holding. She wasn't out of the woods yet though, she needed to test it out to make sure it still worked. She held the camera up and pointed it at Jackson. "Smile." she said firmly and seriously, making it clear it was a demand and not a request. Her tone was on the verge of anger as she fought against the lump in her throat. The second the boy complied with her instructions there was a click and a whiz and a picture began printing out. The Woods daughter examined the picture carefully and finally a single tear rolled down her cheek. She wiped it away with her sleeve and looked back up at the boy in front of her. Her whole body seemed to shake.

The amount of relief she was feeling was indescribable. Everything seemed to be in working order. "I'll take a look at it in depth later, but for now it seems to be fine." Tallulah's voice was shaky but held no anger or sadness. It felt silly to her that that had been such a big deal and her face began to tint pink again with embarrassment. Her fingers played with the hem of her burgundy sweater as her eyes fell down to the floor again. "I'm sorry...this camera is really special to me...Are-are you okay?" she tried to stammer out an explanation but it sounded weird to her; like she was trying to justify caring more about an inanimate object's well-being over a fellow human being's. She hadn't even asked if he was okay first, even though he had collided with her pretty hard. She was more concerned about if she could continue taking pictures. This was probably one of the many reasons people thought she was weird and tried to avoid her. Daniel Reaving Daniel Reaving

Nona
Nona.png

These parents were hardly even listening, and Nona's face quickly twisted into one of rage. If they thought it was so easy to manage a school full of rowdy teenagers then maybe, well... maybe they should just give it a try!

"The school hears your complaints, and we will do our best to address them all. Now if you all don't mind, I have a school to deal with." Principal Nona snapped, perhaps a small bit too forcefully, before she stepped away from the podium. She started to make her out of the room when her eyes fell on Elise, and Nona remembered the gift in her pocket.

She pulled out a small baggy with a bloody tooth in it, and tossed it to a confused Elise, whose expression quickly turned into one of disgust. "In case you want to keep Stu from being teased for having a gap in his teeth on top of everything else." Nona snapped, then turned and strode out of the room with all of the confidence she still had.

She never should have taken this job.

----------------------------

Elise
ELISE.jpg

Elise gingerly took the baggy and dropped it onto one of the desks, a disgusted expression on her face, although it was hard to tell if her disgust was directed at the poor excuse for a principal, or at the little bag of bloody teeth. It was surely a mixture of both, but she kept her poise. What a pitiful woman. Nona couldn't even handle a little heat from the parents.

She moved to stand in front of the classroom, clasping her hands together and forcing a pleasant smile to her face. "Well I think that went well, all facts considered. It is evident that Nona is not going to change her ways, so the next obvious step is to make sure that the board of directors does something about this."

Although finding a qualified professional to be the new principal would be difficult. No one would want to waste out their years of academic teaching at this school with its poor track record.

Well, surely they could find some sucker.

He knew he was in deep shit if the camera was broke so when she demanded a smile from him he did his best but it was clear he was worried about it. As he watched the picture print out he let out his own soft sigh of relief when she told him the camera was fine for now. “Thank god.” He muttered quietly as he looked at the picture over her shoulder. When she started to apologize he instantly stepped in. “No no no no don’t apologize I understand completely. I’m just glad you and your camera are ok.”

He said back to her with a soft smile as he looked back to the photo again. It was a good photo despite the situation as he glanced back up to lulah. “Are you ok? I didn’t hurt you did I?” He asked again even though he had just asked only moments prior. He knew he was alright but Tallulah on the other hand seemed more delicate for a lack of better terms. He could tell she was still shaken up by the ordeal and knew how this school was if anyone truly caught on that she had almost broken down down completely over a camera. “do you wanna go get some air? This shitty school will never let it go if they found out how special the camera was.” Mumbled to to himself mostly as he looked out over the game currently being played before looking back to her to await a response

Tatum had kind of stuck by Grace but she hadn't had much conversation with the girl but it was nice to just have someone to be near. The silence for her was comforting and she had managed to avoid the Westbrook Wolf. It wasn't like she had an issue with the wolf or the person in the wolf she just wasn't much for team spirit. She didn't have the pep like Grace did and she wasn't going to pretend to have some school spirit just to make a friend. However, she wouldn't be rude to the person in the mascot outfit. Her parents had raised her better than that. She just kept her body directed away from the wolf. She knew the game was going to begin soon and she was mentally prepping herself.

When she looked around she realized Ash hadn't returned but she didn't know the girl well enough to go and hunt for her and she figured Ash would return at some point to destroy the boys at the game. When the wolf called for the start of the game Tatum looked to Grace and nudged her just a little, "Ready to win?" she said with a small smile.

Sebastian didn't notice the game starting, or anyone sitting next to him right away. His eyes were glued to his laptop screen; he typed on his homework for a few moments, occasionally online “window shopped” different skateboard sites or wandered through Pinterest and Instagram, trying to occupy his boredom as much as he could. And suddenly this weird guy appeared seemingly out of nowhere.

Sebastian jolted in his seat from the first elbow nudge, quickly gripping his laptop from slipping off his knees. He pulled down his headphones, which was still blasting on music, and furrowed his brows at the kid next to him, confused by the sudden interaction. He recognized Drake from one of his two elective classes, but nothing else personal besides his name and tidbits of him being a basic friendly guy. Maybe too friendly for Sebastian to trust. “Yeah?”

But before he could get a response Drake ducked down on the bleachers, making Sebastian even more puzzled. He looked across the court and saw some jersey-wearing kids scattering—but he still had no clue what was happening.

Sebastian sighed, shaking his head in disappointment. “Dude, what the hell are you doing? You’re just gonna hide there like a wuss the entire game?”

Ash
Small Sad.gif

For the most part while talking with Sean, Ash's gaze had remained on the ground. Moving from the snow, to the wall, to the sky, to anywhere other than Sean because hey, it was hard to look at people sometimes. But when he mentioned caring about her, yeah, Ash had to finally peel her gaze from everything else and look at him, the surprise written clearly on her face. Fuck, she'd heard that a million times the last few days from everyone else, so why did it feel so much different coming from Sean?

She was thankful when he dropped everything and followed him towards the door, but when Sean mentioned that it was locked, she was obviously surprised. How had Vanden managed to get in? Unless... someone had locked it right afterwards? Ash hated janitors -- yep. That's what she decided right then and there as she stood in the snow, with the cold becoming more and more evident and unable to ignore. Ah, t-shirt and shorts and storming outside had been an excellent combination.

"You've got to be kidding me." She said, her breath billowing out in clouds which just made her feel even colder. Ash brushed past Sean, knocking on the door, trying the handle, and... yeah, he was right. Defeated, she leaned against the door for a moment, but realized that was cold, too. Ash leaned away from it, wrapping her arms tighter around her body to try and keep herself somewhat warm. It wasn't working. "We're gonna die of hypothermia, aren't we?"

There was no good plan, and the boys were horrifically outnumbered. Noah's expression seemed to mimic exactly how Mason felt, which was a lovely feeling of oh fuck.

When he found the rest of their so-called "team," Mason was going to kill them. Who left just a few boys to stand alone against this horde of aggressive sporty girls?

"I'm out." Mason said with a shrug as he started to back away. And by out, he obviously meant just running away... and he was quick to do so. Turning around and fleeing, heading out of the gym doors to run through the empty halls of the school. What? It had to be a better option than staying in that gymnasium of death.

Who was he kidding? There were no good options.

It was not being a wuss. It was being strategic. And those girls looked like they were out for blood!

Drake righted himself, perched carefully and still mostly hidden behind the bleachers. He looked at Sebastian, squinting his pale silver eyes. "You know, some guys have never been brutally beaten up by girls when they were little and it shows." Memories washed back over him for a moment, and Drake couldn't help but shudder.

"Look it's not wussing out, it's being strategic. I don't see you playing, which is because I assume you're too scared of getting beat up so shush and cover for me." He quickly stuck his tongue out, then looked out at the field to... yep, Noah and Mason were making a run for it. He should've known. Ha. No girls would think to look here.

So he flopped back down, trying to be secretive.

Tallulah finished drying her eyes with the very edge of her sleeve. She shook her head slowly when Jackson asked if he had hurt her. "No, not really. I've had worse from falling out of trees anyway." her mind drifted to the countless cuts, scrapes, and bruises she had earned in her endeavors of photography. Slips, trips, and falls were commonplace for her. Maybe some would shy away from the slight danger in favor of a lesser shot, but not Lulu. If she had to stand in the center of a thorn bush that was on fire to get her shot she would. Okay, not if it was on fire, but she was no stranger to thorn bushes.

When the other senior asked if she wanted to go get some fresh air Lulu nodded eagerly. Anyone who knew Tallulah at all would know photography was an important facet of who she was, but she sometimes felt like it was a little ridiculous how important it was to her. Almost an obsession, and people didn't need to know that. Perhaps artistic passions weren't something people got made fun of for, but Lulu didn't want to take the chance. Light brown eyes gazed up at Jackson for a long moment before moving down to the game being played. She wasn't sure how they were supposed to leave without being trampled. "You're coming too right?" she asked him, eyes pleading. She didn't really want to talk with him once they were out of the gym, but having a physical presence was comforting. Carefully, Lulu picked her way through the bleachers until she was at the corner closest to the door. Her eyes darted about the gym, occasionally flicking back to her escort, waiting for an opportunity. Once she felt it was she she darted out of the gym, only slowing once clear of the doors, and safe from the threat of being bowled over.

Lulu walked a little bit down the hallway before moving to the side and leaned against a locker. With her back against the cool metal she slid to the floor. Tallulah wrapped her arms around her legs and pulled her knees to her chest. She rested her head on her knees and took several deep breaths. The noise of the game wasn't as pervasive in her mind anymore and she was definitely feeling a lot less overwhelmed. She stared blankly at the floor in front of her, blind to the world around her. “of course.” Jackson said as he got up with her. Following her out of the gym he tried his best to make sure neither of them where trampled. As they left the gym he watched her as she curled up against the lockers. It brought a frown to his face as he walked over and knelt down in front of her. Hesitant he reached out and gently placed his hand on the side of her shoulder. “You ok Lulah?” He asked worriedly as he gently rubbed his thumb over her shoulder. Trying to comfort her from there incident. He still felt terrible for whatever damage he had done and could tell it effected her greatly.

To the point he was truly worried he had hurt her. He had never been good with dealing with situations like this and it showed in his awkwardness. He truly didn’t know what to do to help make her better. He knew she loved photography so offered the only thing he could. “I know it’s not much but. I think I’ve got a few cool places around town you might not have seen. Some pretty good chances for photos. I-if you’re up for it of course.” He said to her to try and get her mind on better things.

Sebastian threw a glare at Drake, narrowing his eyes and clenching one fist as if ready to slap him upside his head very hard. “Then you’re a real dumbass for making that assumption. I don’t even know what the hell is going on, so there’s obviously no point for me to try joining. Besides, if you’re really being strategic—which I know you aren’t—you should be with your teammates, trying to figure out how to win this stupid game instead of cowering behind the bleachers.”

He knew he should’ve stayed in the library, or just leave the school and take the bus to the mall or somewhere less boring than this. Sebastian watched one of Drake’s teammates rushing out of the gym.

“Well, I guess that guy just lost his balls,” he remarked.

Lucia pursed her lips, her expression almost saying This fool... Someone should call him out for it—might as well be her. “Sir, you literally said you would beat your son till he bled, just minutes ago. Everyone in this room heard you say that.”

After the principal made her final statement and left the room, Lucia shook her head. “No grace under pressure, that lady,” she remarked in a murmur once Nona left the room, picking up her red peacoat. The principal hardly made any suggestions or assurance that she and the school would do something about the recent incidents, besides making those lame minor punishments for specific kids who’d been in more fights. Nothing to secure trust with the parents to take better care of the students. Whoever thought Nona was fit to be in this job clearly wasn’t doing theirs very well.

"I wish I was kidding you." Sean said with a small chuckle. He watched as Ash made her own attempt at opening the door and then banging on it. She had the same amount of success as he did. The Woods boy could feel the cold starting to sink deep into his bones, sending a shiver down his spine. Looking at the blonde he could tell she was also feeling the effects of the cold. Neither of the two were exactly dressed for the weather. "We're not going to freeze, I'll text Lulu to come get us."

Pulling out his phone Sean sent a message to his sister. It took longer than normal as his hands were shaking from the biting cold. "There, we'll be rescued in no time...hopefully" He looked around and awkwardly scratched the back of his neck before moving close to Ash. Really close. "Penguins stick close to conserve each others body heat...I assume the same works with people.." he explained looking down into her eyes. This was totally something two exes that were still friends did right? Yep, just strictly platonic friends who were trying to stay warm. No tension here.

Mere inches away from each other, Sean was still freezing, and it looked like Ash was too. So, without thinking he pulled her in to a tight embrace. He could feel a tiny bit of warmth radiating out from her, hoping he was doing the same for her. A little dramatic perhaps, but hey he had no idea how long it would take for Lulu to find them. Tallulah was broken from her daze when physical contact was made. She jumped in the tiniest bit from surprise. Light brown eyes focused on Jackson as he asked if she was okay. "Y-yeah, I'm okay..." she started, embarrassment flushing her cheeks. "That was...that was pretty silly huh? My reaction to that whole thing that is...I'm sorry about that." She felt like she looked ridiculous, and wished she could just be a little more normal.

At the offer of going to take pictures Lulu's eyes lit up, a small smile gracing her lips. "I think I would very much like that." she said softly. Her eyes glanced down to her bag that rested on the floor next to her. The redhead had only brought the one camera with her, the Polaroid. "Oh..." a hint of disappointment slipped into her voice. "I don't have my digital camera with me." A pouting frown formed on her face as she contemplated what to do. She wasn't sure how much film she had left and didn't want to risk running out, but she wanted to take Jackson up on his offer. She needed her digital camera, but that was at home.

Lulu's internal debate was interrupted by a buzzing in her pocket. She pulled out her phone and saw the message from her brother. She rolled her eyes. "How did that idiot get locked out..." she muttered to herself. She gave Jackson an apologetic glance. "I need to go help my brother first, but I'd be willing to go to those places afterwards. If you're sure you want to take me." she didn't want to be a burden on anyone and definitely didn't want to force him to be around her if he didn't want to. There had been an incident before where she had been hanging around with someone she thought was her friend but they blew up at her and called her a freak so she was hesitant to assume anyone new was willing to stick around her.

Once that matter was settled Tallulah went off to help her brother. Following the directions he had given her she eventually found the door. Upon opening she saw Sean and who looked to be Ash, his ex, having a moment together. She tilted her head to the side and arched a brow in confusion. They weren't together anymore, but this didn't really look like just friends. "Are we interrupting something here?" Daniel Reaving Daniel Reaving Winona Winona

Ana sat in the gym curled up in the same ball Vanden had left her in. The note was clutched in her hand, although she didn’t read it for quite some time. She was afraid of what it might say, that the anger from his previous words had spilled out on paper. She did eventually fold it open and read the two words I’m sorry. A sharp pain hit her and she could feel tears welling up in her eyes. It was taking everything in her to calm down, to not break down right then and there. Her arms wrapped tightly around herself and her eyes squeezed shut. She tried to think of anything besides what had just happened. It took awhile, but eventually she was able to relax a bit. Just enough so that she unfurled from her ball and was able to look around the room. It didn’t seem any emptier than before, but a lot of faces had changed. Several of the boys and girls had gone, only to be replaced with different faces. She had to to a double take when she realized Vanden wasn’t there.

She let out a sigh of relief and quickly scooped up her stuff. She didn’t know where he went, but she hoped it wasn’t anywhere close to there. She scrambled down the bleachers and headed to the doors leading to the hallway. She took the long way around, just to avoid getting caught up in whatever was going on. It didn’t look like they were actually playing the game, but she would rather not run the risk of getting trampled. Her eyes fell on that boy again, the one she recognized from before. She almost paused in her step, but it was sheer momentum that kept her moving forward. She couldn’t help but wonder who he was. She would never be forward enough to ask, but she would wonder. She quickly turned away from him and slipped through the doors.

Even in the lone hallway she felt more relaxed. There wasn’t the risk of students staring at her in the empty hall and she felt like she didn’t have to hide quite as much, although she still kept her head down, just in case. The wounds on her body were starting to take a toll on her and she knew she needed to get home. It would be a long walk, but hopefully the cool air would help, if only she could get outside. She pressed her shoulder against the lockers for support. The cool metal through her shirt made her feel just a little bit better and made it just a little bit easier to walk.

Ash
Say Whut.gif

Oh hell, Ash could've cared less at this point, she was that cold. But when he pulled her close... well, okay, maybe Ash definitely warmed up, and maybe she wasn't sure if it was from his body heat, or from the blush that formed on her cheeks. But this felt nice, this felt comfortable and familiar, so Ash leaned into the embrace, pressing her cheek against his chest for a moment, and wrapping her arms around him. And yeah, as was classic for Ash, she started to wonder why they'd even broken up.

And maybe it was the cold and the lack of feeling in her body, or how relaxed and comfortable she felt pressed against Sean -- something she hadn't felt in a long time, or... any number of things. But Ash pulled her face from his chest and looked up at him, her lips parted slightly while she tried to work up the courage to ask him the question in her mind. She lightly bit her tongue, then her lip, then finally decided to just come out with it. It was Sean, after all. He was still her friend.

"Why did we ever break up?"

But her words hung in the air when the door opened, and she looked over to see Lulu. Maybe Ash could've gone for a few more minutes alone, but instead, she reluctantly let go of Sean. At her question, Ash looked back at Sean. "Umm... no, I don't think so." She turned away from him and started inside, pushing past Lulu and whoever the weird dude with her was. "Penguins huddle together to stay warm." She said as she brushed past her, reiterating Sean's words.

Jackson of course agreed to go with lulah. Following her through the school to one of the doors which held a rather curious surprise. Seeing ash and Sean on the other side he sent a curious glance there way. He knew both people but of course he didn’t know them close but he knew of them. An awkward smile slipped onto his lips at the situation watching ash move past them rather coldly after lulah let them in, unable to help the feeling of self entitled judgement radiate off the chick as he watched her go before looking back to lulah and her brother. Glancing between the two with a somewhat awkward smile on his face. He had to admit the situation was awkward what with the judgment of ash in the air and the curious comment about penguins. It was a little strange but he learned not to question women like ash. Looking to Lulah he spoke. “So you ready to go?” He asked awkwardly as he glanced between the two

Sam mostly kept her gaze fixed on the girls in front of her, but they weren’t being too useful. At this point, they might still lose even though they had all these people on the team. She glanced at the boys every so often, but the didn’t seem to be doing anything, at least for now. Things were going nowhere fast and she was starting to get bored. With a small sigh, she walked around the girls enough to look around the gym. No one else had come, but a few more people had gone. She rocked back and forth on her feet when suddenly Mason’s voice rang out. Her eyes moved to him just as he took off out of the gym.

“Hey!” She immediately took off after him, but by the time she reached the hallway, he wasn’t anywhere in sight. Luckily, his footsteps were enough to give her a general direction of where he went. She twisted the flag so it was at her side, close to the lockers so it couldn’t easily be snatched. “Oh Mason. Where are you?” She held her hands behind her back as she walked, leaning forward enough to peer into the rooms as she passed them. “We can end this super easily ya know.”

He hadn't expected anyone to actually follow him, but he recognized Sam's voice immediately. Of course she would've been the one to come after him. What else should he have expected? It was obvious that she was just too into Mason, especially with how she had been behaving before the game. Not that Mason minded in the least bit.

Mason had turned down a hallway and was listening to Sam as she walked towards him slowly. Taking a deep breath, Mason stepped out into the hallway that Sam was in. There was a playful grin on his face, his hands resting lazily in the pockets of his sweatpants. His flags still hung from his belt, easily visible from where he stood.

"How about we just call this game a tie and maybe we could go out instead?" He asked. "It's so obvious that you want me, so let's just stop this silly little game."

Sam was surprised when Mason came out so easily. She stood back up straight and walked over to him, although stayed far enough away so he couldn’t lunge forward and grab hers. She was honestly a bit surprised by his comment. Believe it or not, she had never actually been asked out before, at least to her knowledge. To say she was shocked was an understatement. She stood there for a moment, mouth partially open as she just stared at him.

But, she quickly recovered and put a grin back on her face. “Please. If you thought that was anything more than me trying to win the game, you have some serious reevaluating to do. But, if that’s what you want…” She spoke slowly as her hands moved from behind her back and made a move like she was taking her flags off as she closed the rest of the distance between them. Instead though, she looked up at him before quickly reaching forward and snatching the flag away from his body.

She waved it playfully at him, her grin only getting bigger as she laughed lightly and turned to head back into the gym. “Maybe I’ll see you around and you can try your luck again. Bye Mr. Mason.”

Which meant that the very next day, Mason had made it his mission to find Sam once more. Unfortunately, he hadn't had a chance to find her until school was ending, and people were parting and heading on their merry ways. Mason still had his books tucked under his arm as he scoured the hallways, until his gaze finally found her in the crowd at her locker. He had to play this cool.

So Mason sauntered over, and leaned against the locker beside hers. A guy started coming over, presumably to get in his locker, and Mason sent him a death look before turning his attention back to Sam. The guy was quick to leave, and mind his own business. Good. It meant that despite assisting Stu and receiving a small hit to his credibility as a dick, Mason still had some of his reputation intact.

"Hey Sam," he said with a little half grin on his face. "I was thinking if you're not doing anything, you'd like to go get a coffee or something?"

Neck Tie

PjbN0oT.gif

Neck Tie had barely gotten out of his wolf costume when Dad came marching up to him, Elise at his side. Dad tried once again to squeeze the truth out of him. Neck Tie’s story was the same, however: he had slipped on the wet floor and fallen face-first into the sink. ‘Are you sure that’s what happened?’ ‘Yes,’ he said. Dad looked at him incredulously.

That afternoon they took Tom and his family shopping for gifts. When they got home, hauling several handfuls of shopping bags, Neck Tie was placed on cooking duty. He served up his signature carbonara, and they gathered around the small table for an unforgettable meal, but only after a few hectic moments trying to put out the smoke alarm and getting a phone call from the fire department.

By the time Tom, Bow Bow and their mum left it was late, and Neck Tie never got around to doing his homework. The next day was spent catching up with school stuff, and chasing his classmates for homework help. When the final bell rang, he was feeling pretty accomplished. That was when he spotted a familiar face in the hallway. With a broad smile on his face he slipped in front of older kid, leaning his side against a locker, his backpack rattling against the metal.

‘Hey Mason!’ He said excitably, completely oblivious to the fact that there was a girl standing there. ‘So whatcha doin' later?’

The rest of the day had been pretty exceptionally boring. Her mom was mad for some reason and didn’t talk on the way home and stormed away once they were inside the house. Sam would check up on her later, but was smart enough to give her mother the space she needed. She texted Lulu at some point, but mostly focused on getting her homework finished and getting a jump on what she assumed would be learning the next day.

Hey Tallulah! Sorry I didn’t get to talk at the school. I’m way too competitive when it comes to sports. I hope to see you at school soon!

When it came time to finally talk to her mom, it didn’t end well. “What do you mean, a different school? I like this school.” Her mother was hunched over her computer doing some kind of work when Sam had interrupted. “Look honey, I just don’t think it’s the best school for you. A lot of things were discussed at the meeting and I don’t know if I feel safe with you there.” Same gave an exasperated sigh. “Mom, we just moved. I’m just starting to make friends. You can’t do this to me!” The rest of the conversation only spiraled down from there. Hurtful things were said by both of them that left Sam storming from the room with tears falling. Their relationship had been broken ever since her father passed and things were only getting worse. She spent the rest of the night scrolling through her phone, looking at pictures of her and her father while she cried herself to sleep.

The next day she didn’t even speak to her mother before leaving for school. Knowing her mother would be up and in the kitchen, she decided to skip breakfast and head straight there. The day was monotonous and she didn’t end up seeing anyone she knew, which she wasn’t sure was a good or bad thing. She knew she looked a mess, her hair pulled up into a couple buns atop her head and her outfit was just what she pulled randomly from her closet. By the time the end of the day came, she was exhausted. She put headphones in and headed to her locker, mostly oblivious to the world around her. A thump against the locker nearby made her jump and she turned with wide eyes to the sound.

A smile crossed her face, mostly out of formality. She was never one to let others see her without one. She pulled out her headphones and turned fully to him. “Hey. It’s… Mason, right?” She remembered his name, but she wasn’t going to let him think that, especially after what he had said the day before. “Coffee or something?” She turned back to her locker and put away a couple more books as she thought. Honestly, it would be nice not to have to go home just yet. But, by the time she turned back, there was another boy there. She couldn’t help but smile a little more. “Well you know I would.” She closed her locker and hoisted her bag up onto her shoulder. “But, it looks like your hands are a little full.”

Sean had to admit, as kind of awkward as it was to be holding his ex this close it did feel...safe. Like nothing he could say or do would change their relationship for the worse, like he could tell Ash anything and she'd understand and support him, just like old times. Sean looked down to find that the blonde was looking back up at him apprehensively. There was something on her mind. He waited patiently for her to find the words and speak her mind, but was not expecting the question she asked. Why did they break up? He knew exactly why they had broken up; they were young and both agreed they were better as friends, but that seemed like it was so long ago. They also had agreed that perhaps, once older, wiser, and more mature that they may give it another shot if both were willing. The Woods boy wondered briefly if Ash remembered that agreement. He also wondered if they truly were better as friends, or was it possible that they were better together? Had enough time passed? Did the blonde girl in his arms want to give Sean another shot? It was a lot to think about

There wasn't a whole lot of time to ponder these swirling thoughts however because help soon arrived in the form of the Woods daughter; Sean's sister Tallulah. He let go of Ash and ran a hand through his hair awkwardly. "N-no, not interrupting anything at all." his eyes trailed after the West sister as she went inside. He nodded in agreement to her explanation, and gave his sister a casual shrug. "What she means is we had no idea how long you were going to take, so we were keeping warm." he explained. Noticing his sister's skeptical eyebrow raise he added. "No big deal, really." and made his way inside.

Once inside the building he noticed the guy standing with Lulu. He was pretty sure his name was Jackson. Never really talked to him, he seemed more like the loner type. He then asked if his sister was ready to go. "Go where?" he asked, eyebrow arching in suspicion. Winona Winona Daniel Reaving Daniel Reaving

Lulu couldn't help but be skeptical about this whole situation. Yes, they probably were hugging for warmth but there was totally something else there. She knew her twin, and definitely wasn't just friends with Ash. Maybe he didn't know it but Tallulah did. When Jackson spoke up she turned and smiled softly at him, giving a small nod, before looking back to Sean to answer him. "Jackson was going to take me photographing." she opted out of telling her brother why, it was embarrassing enough that one person knew how close to tears she was, she didn't need more. "I didn't bring my digital though so we need to head back to the house." Sean wasn't entirely convinced about this whole thing. What exactly were Jackson's intentions? Was he just doing this out of the kindness of his heart, or was he trying to take advantage of his sisters naivety? "Well don't go anywhere dangerous, and don't trespass." he said eyes flicking between Lulu and her companion.

The twins waited with Jackson for Mr. Woods to leave the meeting and explained what the plan was to him. Marty shook Jackson's hand firmly, perhaps a little firmer than was necessary. "Don't let her take risks. Back before sunset. Got it?" Lulu rolled her eyes at her father's over-protectiveness. "We'll be fine dad! We're just going to take some pictures!" she said not realizing that her father wasn't really talking to her.

Once at the Woods household Tallulah ran inside and was soon back out looking exactly the same. Same burgundy sweater, same messenger bag over her shoulder, same skirt and boots. She tapped a bulge in the bag as she approached Jackson. "Got my camera. Ready to go? Do you want something to eat or drink?" she began digging around in her bag. "I've got some snacks and things in here if you do." Daniel Reaving Daniel Reaving

Marty watched everything unfold at the meeting. This was...interesting to say the least. Not to mention more than he really wanted to process. How had he let himself get talked into going to this stupid meeting. He was beginning to get the feeling ignorance was bliss. Now he had to worry night and day that his kids weren't safe at school and maybe even had to worry that other peoples kids weren't safe at home. Once it was finally over he turned to Kate. "Well. That was certainly something. Disappointing mostly. But at least now I know I need to be more involved and aware that my kids may not be safe at school. They won't tell me nothing about the major happenings though." he reached into his back pocket and pulled out his wallet, retrieving a business card from it. It had both his number and the number for his shop on it. He handed it over to Kate. "Would ye mind terribly giving me a call if something like this ever goes down again? I'd rather be in the loop than out of it. Plus, if you ever need any work done on your car you have the shops number there too. Feel free to stop by any time." he gave her a friendly smile and made his way out.

When he had caught up with his kids there was another boy hanging around with them. One of Sean's friends perhaps? No, apparently Lulu's. He didn't really care for that, but she was not a child anymore. He couldn't baby her. But he could give this guy a fair and subtle warning that he was not a man who would take seeing his kids hurt lightly. When he was introduced to the boy he shook his hand. His own rough hands perhaps gripping a little more tightly than he intended, not painfully so but noticeable. Hey, he worked on cars, what did he expect? And yeah maybe it wasn't all that unintentional either. He wanted to give this guy the benefit of the doubt, but he was also not going to let anyone hurt his daughter if he could help it.

Marty drove his kids back home, with Jackson following behind. Once inside Lulu rushed to get her camera and some snacks while her father made her a thermos of hot chocolate. He didn't want her to get cold out there, and was unsure of how gentlemanly and/or prepared this Jackson kid was. Lulu gave her father a quick hug and rushed to the door. "I'll be safe I promise! Love you, be back later!" she waved and began stepping out. "Back before it gets dark!" her father corrected right before she closed the door. He shook his head slowly. If this was how he was with her friends he was not ready for her to date. Soap Soap Daniel Reaving Daniel Reaving

Mason
Handsome.gif

This easily had to be Mason's worst nightmare. His smile faltered and faded when Stu slid into the space between Mason and Sam, effectively ruining the mood that Mason was so desperately trying to set. So far this year, Mason's dating game had been anything but on point, and he was determined to go on at least one date with the hot blonde before him. Er... the hot blonde behind Stu. What had happened to the glorious beginning of the year, when Stu had been terrified of him?

"No, I... ah..." he stumbled over his words while he tried to keep Sam's attention. If she walked out of the school without him, then he could just kiss his chances of anything goodbye. And if Stu was the reason that Mason lost this chance... oh hell no. "Happy Meal was just..." Mason was going to send the kid on his merry way, but it occurred to him that Stu had no friends in this school. Except for him now, although Mason wouldn't consider them "friends."

"Well, actually," Mason grabbed Stu by the shoulder, roughly pulling him to Mason's side, and put an arm around his shoulders with a grin. "See, I was going to wait until you said yes, but I was really hoping you'd be up for more of a... double date. Isn't that right, Happy Meal? We're gonna take Sam and your girl on a killer date?"

Mason looked down at Stu with a warm smile. A warm smile because he knew that there was no way that Stu would be able to pull a girl out of thin air willing to go on a date with him.

Location: School, cafe

“Well, I’m gonna go home,” said Sebastian, gathering his belongings after reading a new text message from Aunt Lucia. He hadn’t noticed how much time had passed, or maybe the meeting hadn’t lasted very long. He didn’t care either way. “Good luck… not getting caught, I guess,” he said and tossed a free Kit-Kat beside Drake, but it accidentally hit his shoulder instead. Without glancing back, Sebastian hopped off the bleachers, walked along the sidelines to avoid anyone playing the game, and exited the building.

Lucia didn’t look quite happy for a while, and Sebastian could only assume that the meeting hadn’t gone entirely well. “Ridiculously prideful, showed no grace under pressure,” Lucia remarked during dinner, describing her first impression of Principal Nona. Sebastian didn’t know the school principal well enough to form a complete, clear opinion—he rarely interacted with teachers, and always tried to avoid any way to be sent to the principal’s office—but now, he was starting to reconsider after remembering the lingering small talks he’d heard in hallways and classes. The gossip was consistent enough to convince him. Lucia had also mentioned his classmate Stu and how a lot of issues at school weren’t being dealt with efficiently. Her nephew hardly knew about other problems besides Stu, but why should be care about them when they had nothing to do with himself?

The next day rolled in as usual. Except his aunt offered to drive him to school in the morning. Lucia didn’t always have time to do that; she’d only done once when Sebastian started his first day of school last month, but afterward, Sebastian would just ride his skateboard to school since Lucia had to go to the police department and work early. Before he exited the car, Lucia told him to try making good friends, please. She didn’t elaborate, but Sebastian could tell this wasn’t about making friends for the sake of his near-non existent social life; now, it felt more like he had to out of necessity, like how it was necessary to wear a seatbelt to prevent being ejected out of a car, or always carefully watch little kids near a pool so they don’t drown to death. Maybe that last comparison was a bit too dark.

Sebastian wondered if his aunt was now hoping he’d try being friends with the British kid. But he had no idea how to. Confronting him about the “tripping on the sink” story being an obvious lie didn’t sound like a good way to make friends, so Sebastian tried not overthinking about it and went on his day minding his own business. His mind was more focused on getting by the rest of the school day without collapse from fatigue before work.

Sebastian stayed behind the counter, cleaning up plates and mugs and serving customers from only there. He overheard two of his co-workers nearby murmuring about a frat party they’d attended in the weekend, and tried blocking out the conversation—he didn’t want to know about what happened with a bagpipe and three ice luges, or the after-party to the after-party. Dear god. He wished the overhead music system was a little louder, or have anything to keep his thoughts busier and from possibly bleaching his brain when he’d get home later.

Neck Tie

Neck Tie instinctively squinted and flinched when Mason grabbed him by the shoulder. It was as if he was half-expecting injury to come his way and was relieved when the older kid didn't hit him. But the other part of him was convinced Mason would never really hurt him. Neck Tie was probably a little too trusting for his own good.

He smiled back, and spun round to see the girl behind him. Woops. How long had she been standing there?

He beamed at the girl too so now everyone had had their day brightened by his characteristic smile. But that smile vanished as soon as Mason mentioned a double date.

'Oh--' He scratched the back of his head shyly. 'I-- um-- I prolly shouldn't, cos I, um, have lots of homework to do...' That was lame and all kinds of nerdy, but it was better than admitting to Mason that he didn't have a girlfriend and didn't really know how to talk to girls!

Sam was only becoming more and more reluctant as the conversation continued. She really didn’t’ want to go hang out with three complete strangers. She barely wanted to do it with one. But, when the boy turned around, she couldn’t help but smile a bit. He seemed so innocent, like he was the polar opposite of Mason. Was she about to use that against him? Why yes, yes she was. She moved so she was on the opposite side of Mason, on the other side of the boy while she almost completely ignored Mason.

“I already finished most of my homework, but I still have a little bit left. I could always help you with yours, so we could both knock it out of the way pretty quickly.” The smile on her face grew. She was really only saying it to annoy Mason, even if she preferred to do homework with others anyways. Teasing the two of them was progressively helping her out of her funk, for which she was grateful. Though, she would never tell them that. “I’m Samantha, by the way. Most everyone calls me Sam, though. What’s your name? I know it can’t be Happy Meal, even if it is kinda cute.” Her eyes flicked to Mason for a moment as she spoke, more to gauge his reaction more than anything.
