Personality:

Adrian has the brain of an artist, but the heart of a researcher. He's a puzzle, made up of pieces that don't go together. He tends to put everything he has into his paintings, and won't do anything else until he's finished. He has the same single-minded focus about his research. If he wants to know about something, he will spend all his time and effort reading up on it until there's nothing left for him to learn.

He cares a lot about how other people see him. He won't let anyone in his house, for instance, so they can't judge his messy room. He likes to meet new, interesting people. He's stubborn, and it's hard to change his mind when he's set on doing something.

Adrian isn't above lying/manipulating/using other people if it means getting him closer to finding the coin. He believes that it's real, and will even hide information from others that are looking for it.

History:

Adrian McMillian was born on January 1st, the only child of Laura and Henry McMillan. Laura quit her job to raise him, making sure he grew up loved and happy. When he was four, Adrian was diagnosed with Leukemia. His doctor broke the news to his parents that the cancer had been inside him undetected for years and that there wasn't much that they could do at that stage. Laura refused to accept this prognosis. She used her and Henry's savings to pay for chemotherapy, but Adrian still died in the middle of the night a few months later.

While Henry grieved their loss, Laura couldn't accept that he was gone. She wouldn't accept it. So she did the only thing she could. She dreamed another Adrian. She remembered that he liked to finger paint and how he wouldn't show anyone what he was doing until he was done. She molded the new Adrian out of these memories. Laura was willing to pretend the last few months of "his" life never happened, but her plans were ruined when she showed him to Henry and instead of being happy, he was horrified.

They argued and then they fought. Then Henry packed a bag, left, and never came back. A few weeks after Adrian McMillian died, they were divorced. Laura tried to go on pretending, but the copy she created wasn't really Adrian. He was pieces of her Adrian, but he wasn't what she wanted him to be. She blamed herself for creating him, and then blamed him for ruining her marriage and her life. She eventually gave up and accepted her Adrian was dead. She couldn't bring herself to unmake him, so she left him at an adoption agency.

Adrian spent four years there before he was adopted by a couple who couldn't have children for themselves. On his twelfth birthday, he received a letter from his "real" father. The letter was an apology and told him what he really was. He wrote back, and in letters spanning years, Henry told him what his "mother" had done, and provided the death certificate of Adrian McMillian when Adrian didn't believe him. He became obsessed with finding a way to make himself real, and making sure he was in control of his thoughts and feelings. He learned about the coin and the ley-lines after uncovering old, forgotten texts in the local library. Since then, he's been looking for any scrap of information he can find.

He moved to Harwood after his foster father received an offer to teach Religious Studies at Harwood Academy.

Other:
orange_tabby_cat_2.jpg
He has a cat named Jasper.

Other than the ley-line running through town, he knows nothing about Harwood.

♔

Age:
18

Birthday:
April 4th

Gender:
Male

Sexuality:
Heterosexual

Height:
6'2"

Distinguishing Features:
He has a large tree tattoo that pretty much takes up most of the area of his back with its trunk aligned with his spine and the bare branches sprouting out on his shoulders.

Likes:
Comfy clothes, astrology, fireflies, most sports, mellow people, well-grounded individuals, eating

Dislikes:
Waking up early, know-it-alls, egg, seafood, cheaters, sore losers, tight clothing, tight spaces

Virtues:
Devoted (to people he trust), helpful, disciplined, respectful, sincere

Vices:
Ruthless, insecure, cynic, unyielding, can hold grudges

Quirks:
Noah likes to pop his knuckles a lot, especially when he's preparing for a fight or when he wants to appear intimidating. But he also has a quirk of lowering his head and closing his eyes when he's nervous or stressed. He kind of tucks his head against his chest like a turtle trying to recede into its shell.

Hobbies:
Skateboarding, swimming (this is the activity he sticks to the most), wrestling, martial arts

Dream:
In all honesty he'd wish to have a peaceful life of not having the responsibilities of being a Ruler but he feels an obligation not to think this way so his surface dream would be to have the ability to continue having the strength and courage to protect those he loves.

Fear:
Death, his abilities being used by others through force, harm to his loved ones

Personality:
As much as he can be helpful and considerate to those he cares about, Noah for the most part likes to keep to himself. He's not so much of an extrovert since alone time to him is precious, but this does not mean he is uncomfortable with walking up to strangers. If he needs to get something done then he doesn't hesitate to do it, so if he needs to ask somebody something he'll do it. How he does it depends on the situation. Sometimes he can come off as intimidating, other times he tries to be approachable. Noah in this case is known to be determined since he likes to finish what he starts, but it has to be one task at a time since he isn't a great multi-tasker.

Noah is loyal, faithful, and protective to the ones he loves. He will take a bullet for any of them, but if any betray him then he will break all ties with them. He will turn his back on them and never look back. So he can be fiercely dependable and someone who is always there for you but you must be willing to treat him the same; to trust him and respect him. Growing up he was always known as a respectful child who rarely got into trouble. The only times he was punished were fights that he intervened in to help someone. This granted him respect from his peers that he would step in to fight any bully. Many called him fearless while some would say he was reckless to do it.

Overall Noah is a pretty chilled individual, but anger him and he will become a beast. He'll be ruthless when it comes to his actions and the boy would not be afraid to throw fists. When he becomes anger he loses his inhibition to make bad decisions so he can become more reckless. But it would take a lot to anger Noah, unless an individual he meets right away isn't compatible to his personality. He wouldn't be able to define specifically what type of people bother him, but certain personalities annoy him or rub him the wrong way.

History:
Noah's past was one built on the relationships between his family and friends. He never had any traumatic experiences that influenced a change in his personality or any revelations that determined his persona, except for the fact that he was The Ruler. At a young age he was able to see the leylines but it wasn't until he was in middle school did he really begin to carry out any tasks that the leylines have asked him to do. So it wasn't until middle school that he became interested in his role and began to understand it. Upon this acceptance of fate he had to become more secretive, but not in an obvious way. This was difficult since he trusted his friends and family so much that he often shared with them everything. Otherwise nothing as major as that has affected his growth in character development.

Noah's family is a small unit of four that lives in Lower Harwood. The family would probably be closer to middle-class status if Noah's sister didn't require much assistance for her mental condition of autism. But the Venz family holds no negative feelings towards Nelly. In fact she is treated well by her parents and Noah. Since Nelly was the younger sister, Noah felt the need to become her rock. From the start he has always been there for her; protecting her from bullies, guiding her through learning, and accompanying her to the park. She saw him as her prince and he saw her as his princess. It was easier to have such feelings like this when they were young, but as Noah grew older, peer pressures from school began to change his attitude.

His sister's personality did not change too much as she grew compared to Noah's. Upon entering middle school he began growing distant from his sister. The only thing though is that he would not tolerate any bullies against her, otherwise he didn't try to involve himself too much with Nelly. She couldn't comprehend the change that Noah experienced or why he did so. Nelly would constantly try to gain his attention. During these times Noah would participate in delinquency acts and pretty much bring to surface his bad qualities. He also had to learn how to be innovate with the things he needed to accomplish for the leylines considering his family was not wealthy. Noah was growing up emotionally, mentally, and physically between all this.

Stress burdened Noah as he felt guilt in turning his back on his sister, felt the need to fit in, and needed to learn more on what it is the be The Ruler. It was a hard three years for Noah to grasp what he wanted and what his purpose was. Finally after entering high school he returned back to Nelly. This happened since one of his so-called friends betrayed him by trying to bully his sister. He decided that these people weren't his friends and ditched them. It took a bit but eventually he was accepted back into his old group of friends and by Nelly.

Personality:
Gene is somewhere in-between introverted and extroverted. He has a great imagination and believes in impossible things due to his dreaming ability. Unfortunately, Gene has experienced terrible things too because not only do his dreams become real, but also his nightmares. This has given Gene a layer of fortitude. The ability to stare down something dangerous, deadly, and dark just out of desensitization.

Gene has a defiant streak. As an only child, his parents and his grandmother poured their loving attention on him. Gene knows he has a place where he belongs and that has given him a strong foundation of confidence, even sometimes swagger. The bright spots in his life have made the dark ones even more noticeable.

Since Gene has been lectured all his life about keeping the dreaming secret, he sometimes has trouble letting people in. If he gets too close to someone, they might find out too much. He doesn't talk about himself much.

Gene’s family has a lot of money and he’s never had to work a job for what he wants. His family stays over their expenses by selling dream objects to carefully vetted clients.

History:

Gene's family is strange. His mother's line has produced generations of people who can create objects from their dreams. For a long time, Gene didn't realize how different his family was from others. His grandmother created music boxes with songs so beautiful they could have made Mozart weep, plants that grew nine feet tall; stretching out pink and blue flowers like bird's wings, gold plates to eat breakfast on, and porcelain dolls that walked around without batteries.

Gene was home-schooled. The Reve family has always been wary of outsiders. They stick to their own. It’s easier to keep secrets that way.

All kids break rules, for Gene, it was mostly sneaking away to play with the other kids across the street. When asked, he lied about it. While sneaking off to play, Gene realized how other kids his age lived. They didn't have dream objects like his family did. Everything was so normal.

Gene’s family was torn about whether he should attend Harwood Academy. It would be good for him, for his aspirations of attending college if he went to the prestigious school. On the other hand, they didn’t trust Gene to keep the family secret. It wasn’t Gene himself that was untrustworthy, only the fact he is a teenager going to be around other teenagers and who knew what kind of dangerous disastrous things that would entail.

Gene wanted to go to Harwood Academy and convinced his grandmother he should go. His grandmother likes him the most (it's unsaid but everyone knows) and her decision was final.

The Reve family has a reputation for being quirky and weird and are rumored to be involved in criminal affairs. How else could they have made their fortune? When no one in the family seems to work. Gene has heard his grandmother allude to killing someone. It sounded like a lame joke but as Gene gets older he can’t help but wonder if, despite how amazing their powers are, their abilities can draw bad things to them too.

Other: Gene is a talented cook. His specialty is breakfast foods.

Personality:
Sep is a person you need to get used to. Past her pushy, rude, and insensitive tendencies lies someone who just wants to be noticed, or in the very least mean something to her friends. Despite what she might say, she doesn't really hate you, nor does she actually think your mother was a female dog. Saying things like that is just her way of asserting herself as a valuable human being, however strange that might be.

In a way, Sep is like a girl that never got a chance to grow up right. Her years of physical and mental abuse stunted her personality in a way that doesn't really empathize with others. Again, that's just the mega-bitch side of her. Sep just wants acknowledgment of her own worth, which she flaunts around like a trophy. Maintaining this good feeling is her one priority, and she'll do anything to make sure she remains in the center of attention.

If you ever manage to find a time in which Sep is feeling kind of low, you'll see the little kid that's still inside her somewhere. Her face drains, her eyes are sunken, and she's silent. Getting her out of this mood could take days, even weeks. Eventually, it's her own conscience that shakes her out of it, as if she realizes that there's more to life than this.

History:

Family was never a thing Sep wanted to return to after school. Being the seventh child didn't mean she was the baby, nor did it mean she was the favorite. In fact, of all her siblings, it seemed to Sep like she was the one her parents hated the most. Both of them constantly berated and maltreated her, using both their words and fists to get their points across. Sep was a fighter though, and she never let their words get across. She was strong, and only because she was the only person who would stand up for herself. She knew that none of her siblings, which she never really bonded with, would ever step in for her, probably because they followed in their parent's footsteps.

Coming from Lower Harwood meant that Sep was used to the rough side of life. In fact, it was all she really knew. Her stepdad was the worst of all her family, and yet it was him she found herself stepping up to the most. When he screamed, she screamed right back. When he hit her, her eyes burned into his until he couldn't look at them anymore. This might have carried on for some time, had not the family, which was already in bad times, fell into a deep hole of debt. The stepdad came home drunk one night and was more violent than usual, taking Sep and throwing her out, his slurred screams and crazy eyes more than enough to tell the young woman to back off. She couldn't take it anymore; no matter how much she brushed off the abuse, it still got to her.

She left that night, taking the little money from her stepdad's wallet and sleeping in the alley, her only protection being her brother's baseball bat. The money was enough to keep her going for several days, floating from park bench to decrepit porch, eating cheap crackers, and wrapping her thin coat around herself like it was the only thing keeping her together. Her mind flashed often to her family, to the condescending face of her father. The more she tried to forget it, the more prevalent it was in her thoughts. Sep felt stuck, as if nothing had really changed.

She took a walk into the Dead Forest late at night, shivering hands tucked into her paper-thin pockets and shoulders hunched. Her breath came out in silver plumes before her, but it stopped as she heard a snap not far before her. Her eyes rose to see another plume of breath, the faint silhouette in the shadows being the only sign of another human.

Sep panicked; she had never felt such fear before. There was a sudden explosion of splinters on a branch beside her head, and she stumbled backward in fright. Turning to run, her feet slid over rain-soaked stones and soggy moss, and she could hear another shot ring out. She could feel herself falling to the ground, an odd sensation spreading across her back.

There was no pain; in fact, it was over rather quickly. For a moment, she felt light and feathery, like she imagined a bird would feel. Then she was back, back in the alleyway she had hidden in that first night. The forest ran from her mind, and she found herself cold and hungry, wishing for a warm bed and safe place to spend the night.

personality: Rowan is a very soft-spoken girl and always has been. While she's kind to those around her, not many notice her. She's perfectly fine with this for the most part, having grown used to entertaining herself as a child. Seeing as she's mostly missed upon a first glance, the teen is happy to be seen as a wallflower, observing others with both her eyes and her Sight.

Many wouldn't guess, but Rowan isn't really an introvert. While she does sometimes have a stutter when first starting a conversation with someone new, she's actually quite bold and ready for new things to enter her life. She's fierce when confronted about something she's passionate about and loyal to those she does actually manage to get close to. She enjoys helping others in any way she can, be it by her own strengths or those of her gift and is happy with just seeing someone smile.

Overall she doesn't have much a temper, but once annoyed, Rowan can hold a grudge. She's silent about it, but whoever's on the receiving end will know if she's got a problem with them. The sharp stares and occasional glares. Sometimes it'll seem like she's staring into your soul. She prides herself on her ability to unnerve someone with her stare, and will frequently use her 'ability' to get what she wants if she thinks it's important enough.

history: Rowan is the only daughter of the Woods family. Both her parents were hard working people, but it became quiet clear to the girl at a young age that they were not meant to be parents. Growing up in Lower Harwood as one of the ones with more money than most, Rowan mostly found herself in the care of her grandmother who always seemed to know too much. After school, the young girl would go home to her grandmother and her fantastical stories about the old days when the elder woman was in her teens and having adventures.

When she was young and easily impressionable, Rowan was enchanted, viewing her grandmother with stars in her eyes and wanting to be just like her. She enjoyed the stories, and told everyone she knew about how her grandmother was basically a superhero. Needless to say, that didn't go over well and led to her getting teased and bullied, causing her parents to be brought into the principal's office. For two years, Rowan didn't see or hear from the elder woman and slowly became them quiet and shy girl, a wallflower known to no one but herself.

She was about 11 when she was finally able to speak to her grandmother again. Having grown from the last time they spoke, when the elderly woman tried to begin a tale, the young girl rebuked her, clearly stating her disbelief. She yelled at her grandmother and swore to never speak to her again and left the house, going for a walk in the park nearby. It was a few hours later when she had her first vision.

It hit her hard, and she collapsed to the ground, staring blankly at the trees in front of her. At least, that's what any outsider would have said had they saw her. It was a few minutes later while she was still in her vision that her grandmother found her and waited for her to leave the vision so she could begin to explain. When Rowan finally emerged from the vision, she was gasping and crying, unsure of what was going on. When she finally noticed her grandmother there with her she latched onto the woman and sobbed, babbling about sparrows and death. Rowan never told the woman what it was exactly that she saw, but she could guess. In the following hours it was explained to the young girl that she was the latest Witch in their long family history of powerful witches due to them living close to the ley-line.

Rowan was still hesitant, but as the visions kept coming every few days, she grew to accept it, and learned to appreciate it. Now she uses her Sight to help her navigate her life and help those around her. Her life had obtained a new normal, and Rowan enjoyed it, even if it was quiet. However, that all changed when a few nights ago she had the most terrifying vision of them all. A vision that she doesn't understand. She was used to not always recognizing the people she Saw, but normally the confusion would clear by the next day, the person being someone she would bump into randomly. But the three she had Seen, it was days later and she still had no clue who they were. And why they were going to die.
