Jackson King | 17

Unfortunatley, Jackson had been forced to miss the shitshow last night due to him being given the night shift at his job. He had been given a quick rundown of the events that had unfolded at the famed O'Reilly house by two of his best friends, Phoebe and Kai. Something about a fight between two girls, exploding paint cans (one of which knocked Phoebe's older brother smooth out) and then the cops showing? He had to admit that he was disappointed he missed out. He pulled a t-shirt on over his head to go with the jean shorts he had on and looked at his phone. "I'll be back later. Going to hang with Phoebe!" he called out to his mother who was probably getting dressed for work. He took that as his chance to slip out before she could protest.

As he waited on the front porch he pulled out the joint he'd had tucked behind his ear and sent another text to Phoebe. *I hope you are bringing breakfast bc I'm starving.* He hit send and took a hit off the joint, blowing the smoke out just as she pulled up. "Shit, Phoebs. Your brother is gonna kill you if you keep dogging his car like that," he smirked, jumping in and offering her the bud. "So, what's this about a catfight with paint? Sounds like I missed one hell of a night," he chuckled. As they took off towards Kai's house, he assumed. Kai and Phoebe had been his close friends for a while and they always had fun together even if it did involve illegal or at the very least questionable activity. The troublesome trio as his mother called them, mostly when complaining about how Jax didn't need to be involved with the wrong crowds.

It had been a crazy day. Leaving home, finding Ryan and then promptly dumping him. Was she hurt and upset?, of course but she was not going to be a mary sue any more. Screw that noise. After running 'literally' into Malia, she explained what had gone down and the girl instantly offered to have Alyssa stay over. Alyssas newfound independence did not last long against Malia's insistence, so with a nod Alyssa went to Malias place before sitting down and thinking over what her next move would be.

She had a dwindling savings account, she needed a job and eventually her own place. Giving up for the night due to Malia again pushing her, Alyssa had showered and went to bed.

Sitting at the table in the kitchen, she poured over the wanted section of the paper. She had finished college that summer so thankfully she was fully qualified. Her phone had been on silent since leaving the house and she had not even bothered to look at it. circling a few notices in the paper for different jobs, she noted the numbers.

Taking a break, she started making a cup of tea, since coffee was off the table for now. Despite what had happened her plans remained to have her baby, but now she would do it gladly as a single mother. Sitting back down, she began to dial the numbers as she heard a groan from upstairs sounding like someone was starting to come to life.

[div class=textbox] Izzy hadn't bothered to drink at all last night, having been perfectly content with life as well as the high he'd been riding at the time. This meant that looking back, last night's events were clear in his mind, minus the ones that he was sure he was purposefully blocking out of his own memory; like the look on Kat's face as she'd seen him dancing with her step-sister. He wasn't the smartest man in the world and he would admit that any day of the week, but he knew he had some common sense. It'd been there last night when he'd deduced that Kat and Alexandra didn't get along, but where had it been after that point? When he'd offered the girl the necklace? Or when he'd asked her to dance? He lowered his head to the kitchen counter and let it hit the marble countertops with a dull 'thud'.

He'd been upset, but more than anything he'd been stupid. Izzy wanted Kat back, the opportunity to be something more than just someone she tolerated at least, and he'd gone and used his chances up last night like the fool he was. Instead of winning the girl back, he'd made her hate him a little more than she already did, caused a fight between the sisters due to his own stupidity, and somehow ended up covered in paint. And to think, he'd really thought his plan would work. God, he needed to get high before these depressing thoughts overwhelmed him; he was never like this.

Hearing the sound of a door in his home clicking open drew Izzy out of his self-loathing and he lifted his head in time to see Kat join him in the kitchen. He offered her a lazy blink and opened his mouth to say something to her, to greet her maybe, but instead, his eyes fell to what she was wearing- the tee-shirt that he had loaned her last night so that she wasn't stuck sleeping in her party outfit. He couldn't help the strange surge of pride that swelled through him at the sight; that he had a beautiful woman in his house and she was wearing his clothes. Except, he realized quickly, she wasn't his woman and he didn't have the right to feel proud of the fact he'd taken the girl home after a fight he'd been the cause of. "Hey," he greeted quickly, but then,

"Have you seen my phone?"

Izzy stared at Kat for a long moment before he opened his mouth to speak again. "Yeah," he said slowly. Her phone was currently sitting on his coffee table, but he didn't think that her running to her phone first thing was what she really needed. Did she just want to check the time? Or was she trying to leave already? "I, uh," He gestured at the things spread out on his counter like a buffet; bagels, pastries, breakfast sandwiches, and hot coffee. "I had someone deliver breakfast. Have some before you puke on my floor?" He offered her a lopsided grin.

Kai
tumblr_n9lfps7GX31sgry48o9_250.gif

He hadn't meant to kill anyone, okay.

Like when Phoebe had suggested lighting cans of paint into the air attached to fireworks, all Kai had really heard was fire and, of course, the destruction that followed afterwards. Although he was typically a quiet kid, he was chaos incarnate -- or so some of his teachers had said over the years. Kai was like the silent chaotic type. You wouldn't hear him coming until it was too late and then poof, your favorite shirt was on fire or you were getting knocked out with a can of paint.

The night before had ended with him watching Phoebe hire some hot muscly guys to carry Finn home. Although Kai had offered to assist, Phoebe had simply laughed at him and he suspected that it was because she didn't think he was manly -- which he totally was. But everyone seemed to question it. Like, just because he had lost every fight he'd picked, and he couldn't lift a man didn't mean that Kai wasn't manly. Honestly, it was an insult to his very being. Pfft. Not manly.

He'd headed downstairs to the front porch, only to find a very angry Kris drenched in paint with some guy -- not that Kai was surprised. Kris was always picking up some stray to play around with. To be honest, he'd been surprised when Dean had been the one to announce she was pregnant out of the trio of friends.

What had surprised him was when Kris's hand, coated in paint, slapped him across the face and left a horrific pink hand print on his face. Horrified and pissed, Kai hadn't said anything. There wasn't much he could do and like, what was he even supposed to do? He couldn't fight her... well, he could, but Kai would've totally lost.

So when the next morning rolled around, Kai took to enacting his revenge. With Kris's favorite pair of shoes in tow, he'd headed into the backyard and lit the fire pit. Soon, the shoes made it onto the fire and Kai stood beside the heat, watching the licking flames as they slowly started to burn away at the fabric.

Ah. Fire was always the answer.

He turned towards the house, cupping his hands around his mouth, and started yelling; "Kris! Kris!"

Daniela "Dean" De Angelo

"Dean, are you?"

His words lingered in the air even after Mason pushed passed her to go scream at someone banging loudly on the apartment door next to them. She didn't want to stick around and be forced to answer a question she wanted to never have to respond to. The moment between them was perfect and maybe in another life, they would have kissed and he would hold her as she craved his touch. Walking away from him was hard, but to stay was out of the question.

Dean turned her back and went into the bedroom to give Ari one last goodbye kiss before she was off. Thankfully she was still asleep as if she was awake Dean didn't know if she would have the strength to go. Grabbing her phone Dean slipped out the front door as Mason was too busy screaming at the poor man to try and stop her from leaving. As she left and went down the flight of stairs she couldn't help but roll her eyes at Mason's actions. This was very like him as soon as something gets serious, he gets white range and has to take it out on something. She wasn't any better though as she was currently running away from his question rather than answering it.

The walk back to her house wasn't long as she only lived about a block away from the apartment building and upon entering she saw that Jessia was nowhere to be found. She breathed a sigh of relief as the last thing that needed to happen was a screaming match between them. Without even thinking Dean went straight to the bathroom and took care of herself as she really did look like shit.

After taking a shower, brushing her teeth, doing her makeup, and putting on a fresh pair of clothes did she start to feel a little bit better.

The feeling didn't last as Dean was filled with nerves and it felt like butterflies were eating her stomach. There was no possible way she was pregnant. After Ariana, she became so careful about it. She was convinced that there had to be another explanation for her symptoms, she was in full denial mode.

Before even thinking about it she grabbed her phone and sent out a text to her two closest friends Ash and Kris. The text stated 911 and to meet at the girls' favorite hangout spot after school. Dean needed answers, but she also needed the courage to go and seek them out.

Jack couldn’t help but mumble angrily under his breath as he walked through the house. Just seeing the state of it was enough for him to be pissed that he was so laid back the night before, and that was a lot considering he hadn’t seen the state of the outside of the house in daylight yet. He was grateful however for TK, his best friend had stayed late after the party ended taking out trash bag after trash bag to the curb for pick up the next morning. He pulled out his phone and sent a thank you text to his buddy as he walked to the kitchen.

Quickly pouring a cup of coffee that someone in the house had made, Jack checked his watch. He was late for a job that he had booked the day before, but honestly he wasn’t in a rush. Despite looking fresh as a daisy, he was a bit hungover and if he didn’t have that coffee he was gonna be useless anyway. Finishing the coffee, Jack grabbed a pizza ad from the pile of mail on the counter and a sharpie from his pocket and scribbled on it. β€œThis place better be clean by the time I get back or there will be hell to pay!!!!”

He stuck the note to the refrigerator with a magnet and hoped that his siblings would take his warning. Of course if it wasn’t clean, he would end up doing it, but he would seriously make their lives hell. He put his coffee mug in the sink and turned just in time to see Nate give him a short hello while staring down at his phone and heading out the door. The interaction was so short Jack didn’t even get a word in and he didn’t feel like chasing after the kid. Instead he grabbed his tool belt and headed out the door.

It was a short walk to the office building where Jack was supposed to fix a leaky pipe or sink, he didn’t remember. He took one last drag off his cigarette before putting it out and heading inside. He was shocked to see the office empty when he entered. β€œDid I get the day wrong?” he questioned himself as he looked around for someone to talk to. β€œHello...is anyone here?” he called out confused.

[div class=wrapper][div class=scroll]
[div class=textbox] Finn startled gently at the sound of a door next to him opening. He knew that other people lived here, he was sure of it, but he hadn't expected them to be so close. A man stepped into the hallway from the open door and before Finn could do anything more than turn his gaze to the man, he was suddenly being yelled at- loudly and at length. He watched a woman leave the apartment that the man had just come out of, eyeing her warily as she passed him. It took his scrambled brain more than a few seconds between the pulsing throbs to comprehend what was being said to him; and by the time he was able to discern that the man was annoyed by him knocking on a door, said door behind him was being opened. He thought the entire thing was ridiculous, but he still opened his mouth to apologize for apparently disturbing him.

However, a familiar voice spoke up before he could even get a word out, and then he was being dragged backwards through the door. The door was closed behind him as he was dragged in, and Finn could only blink in surprise at how quickly everything had happened. He wasn't a small man by any means, standing at six feet and some change, so he certainly hadn't been expecting anyone to drag him anywhere.

"Aren't you, uh, a sight for sore... eyes?" the voice asked him, and Finn turned to face Samuel. Despite all of the discourse left between the two of them, he couldn't help but offer the man a small smile at the mere sight of him; he'd spent many late nights staring into that face during video calls, and couldn't shake away the good memories despite how annoyed he may be at the man. This was their first time meeting in person, after all. He couldn't help but be a little happy at the fact. His smile, however, wasn't going to answer his question, so he lifted his hand to the side of his face- where he was sure a colorful bruise had already begun to form- and trailed it up into his blonde hair.

"Oh," he voiced, wincing slightly as his fingers brushed a sore spot on the side of his face. He was sure of the bruise forming on his features but hadn't been aware of the pink in his hair; though he was positive it was just a stain from the pink paint he'd seen swirling down his drain during his shower. "Phoebe," he added as if that name was enough to explain all of his troubles. He dropped his hand back to his sides and then promptly shoved them into the pockets of his jeans. "No thank you. It doesn't hurt," he spoke after a moment of silence, knowing that the words were a lie but speaking them anyways.

He let an awkward silence settle between the two of them. Finn was known for having a golden tongue; knowing the right words to say to get out of any situation, awkward or not. Things with Samuel were different, though. A man who'd seen him at his literal worse was threatening- and Finn didn't handle threats well. "Was it worth it?" he asked after a moment. His voice was low but steady as he spoke. He eyed Samuel before letting his gaze roam around the tiny apartment, "Is it everything you hoped for?"

Jeremy raced through the streets enjoying the new car engine he had just had put in his car. He was in a good mood after getting into it with the mechanic who he had just picked his car up from. The man had tried to charge Jeremy more without telling him, and while the charges were fair and Jeremy had the money to pay him, he was not going to let the disrespect fly. He chewed the guy out and offered to sue him before the man, who was completely defeated by then, agreed to take the charges off. Jeremy was invigorated, he loved putting people in their place.

When he finally pulled up to his friend Val’s house, he let himself in, not feeling the need to knock anymore. Val was his oldest friend and the closest thing he had to a sister. β€œHey you.” he said when he found her. He pulled off his sunglasses and slipped comfortably onto one of her sofas, spreading out and making himself comfortable. He smiled as he listened to her plan for a party, he knew Val better than anyone, so he knew she wasn’t looking for a wild party, but a drama filled occasion. β€œSounds good. But do you have to invite those southside creatons? Plenty of drama to be found with the civilized people of this city.” he commented.

Jeremy had heard about the crazy party that was thrown on the southside the night before, because of course he didn’t attend. He had instead spent the night in bed with some rich girl visiting town that he had met at the club. He had woken up to texts from a couple friends who had attended the party and heard about all of the reckless behavior. β€œDid you hear about what those animals did to one of their own houses last night? Do you want them to do it to this beautiful place?” he asked Val with a raised eyebrow.

Of course Jeremy’s questions were a bit selfish in nature. He never got along with the guys from the southside, they were always intimidated by him and he couldn’t stand them, and that often led to him ending up in altercations with them. And then there were the southside girls and their attitudes. He had always had a hard time dealing with them, unless he was very drunk. He shook his head at the thought of the shit show that Val's party could turn into.

Ever since Winnie returned home from Colorado, she had the same routine during the week. Class in the morning, practice in the afternoon, and work in the evening. And after work she would stop by her siblings room and make sure they were okay. Usually they were asleep. Usually, Winnie would go on to take a shower. And usually in under forty-five minutes, she’d be in bed. But not last night.

Last night, Chance wasn’t in bed. She didn’t know where he was and she couldn’t leave to look for him or she’d have to leave Isaiah at home. So she tried any reasonable way to get a hold of someone, she called him. And was sent straight to voicemail.

She couldn’t leave Isaiah and her mother wasn’t going to be home till 5, but she couldn’t deny the worry building in her chest.

So Winnie, being the responsible older sister, grabbed a textbook for her Philosophy class and sat in the living room to do some homework and wait for her 16 year old, dumbass brother. She occasionally called Chance, but it was the same outcome every call: VOICEMAIL!

It was 3AM when Chance strolled back through the doors and she was pissed, instantly chewing his ass. The guilty look on his face, however, made her feel bad for exploding on him and she promised not to tell mom as long as he promised to at least tell her where he was and to come home at a reasonable time. She sent him off to bed, following procedure right after.

Winnie was hoping to sleep in. This was her only day off of everything and she deserved it, but not her manager. He asked her to come in and she said no, but he offered her overtime and she couldn’t let the opportunity pass. So instead of being in bed at 7AM, she was pulling into the parking lot of the 24hr diner that was about 2 and a half miles away from her home.

Exiting her car caused for her shirt to rise slightly, and she forced the gray shirt back into her blue mom jeans before slamming the car door shut. Her coworker greeted her as he walked out, thinking that his opinion mattered when he mentioned how tired Winnie looked. She flipped him off before entering the building.

The normal amount of workers weren’t present for work and Winnie knew that it was going to be a rough morning, especially if they were hit with a rush. Her manager had her up front, temporarily lifting her no-customers ban till they found another experienced waitress. He told her to try her hardest to be nice and Winona did not know if she could keep that promise considering that she wasn’t supposed to be there in the first place.

With a fake smile on her face, she took orders, served food, and cleaned tables. A rhythm being introduced as she worked around the diner. It slowed down after 7:30 giving Winnie some time to rest her feet, her mood getting a little better. So when the bell over the door rang near 9, she raised her head from the coffee maker and smiled a smile that actually caused for her eyes to twinkle.

β€œGood Morning, welcome to Mickey’s”

The sound of his alarm was not a pleasant one for TK. He was a lightweight when it came to drinking, so even though he hadn’t drank a lot compared to the others at the party, he had drank over his limit. That on top of the late night he had after staying behind to clean up the O’Reilly house a bit before heading home had him not wanting to get out of bed. And the longer he laid there listening to the alarm on his phone beep, the more awake he was, and the sooner he realized he didn’t even need the alarm. It was his day off, but he had forgotten to turn off his alarm the night before.

He turned off the alarm and rolled over, deciding to try and get a few more hours of sleep before facing the day. That turned out to be a short lived attempt as his phone buzzed off the table next to him and crashed to the floor. TK groaned loudly before getting up to inspect the damage on his phone. He sat on the edge of his bed, a feeling of relief coming over him as he saw that the screen on his phone didn’t crack. He had just stolen that phone a couple days before to replace his old phone with a shattered screen.

He stood up and stretched, after giving into the fact that he was fully awake now and his hope for more sleep was never coming true. TK shuffled out of his room and headed to the kitchen for a glass of water. He froze steps from the kitchen, upon seeing a blonde girl sitting at his kitchen table. His cheeks turned a mild shade of pink, realizing he was wearing nothing but his boxers, before turning to go speak to his cousin.

TK was already pissed at Malia for not showing up at the party, but this was too much. He barged into her new room slamming the door behind him. He shook one of her feet to wake her before speaking in a hushed but upset tone. β€œHey wake up. What is going on in my house?” he asked, waiting for her to sit up and look at him. β€œFirst, you blow off the party you promised me you would come to. Now I see you brought home some girl! On your first night here at that!” he said before she had a chance to speak.

Malia woke up at the sound of a door slamming. When she opened her eyes, she was very groggy and it took a minute for her to realize where she was as she scanned the room she was in and looked up at her cousin. β€œWhat...I’m awake.” she said sitting up and listening to her cousin speak in a hushed voice at her. β€œNo...relax man. It’s not even like that.” she said, trying to get him to stop talking.

She thought back to the night before. Malia had been on her way to meet her cousin at his friend's party, but when she met the crying girl, she decided that was a better use of her energy. She rubbed her eyes trying to remember the crying girl's name. Alyssa. That was it. Alyssa had spewed her drama on Malia after the two had collided and Malia felt bad. She sat with the girl on the steps of her apartment building and listened to the girl. Malia found herself pissed off for the girl. She had been treated like crap by some guy and there she was pregnant, crying, and alone. She had decided that she would help the girl out.

Malia had invited the girl up to TK’s apartment and when the girl said she didn’t have a place to stay Malia told her to sleep on their couch. She had assumed TK would see the girl when he got home that night, but after listening to him now, it was clear he hadn’t. She waved her hand at her cousin as he went on a small rant about being exposed in front of the girl. β€œYo, man chill. We are all adults, and you're definitely not the first guy who she has seen in their underwear. Trust me.” she laughed to herself a bit before getting out of bed and throwing on a pair of jeans from the top of her suitcase.

β€œCome on. Let me introduce you. She is my new friend. You don’t want to stand in the way of me making friends do you?” she jokingly asked. That had been part of TK’s argument the night before about why she should go to the party, because he wanted her to make friends in the neighborhood. β€œOh, and don’t worry, I will cover you to your room so you can put on some clothes if that will make you feel better. She joked, unable to hold in a big laugh as she opened the door. When she stepped out of the room she made a big show of standing in front of TK and holding her arms out to block him. β€œI got you covered?” she said laughing even harder and louder, undoubtedly drawing Alyssa's attention to the pair.

Casting a doubtful look Finn’s way at his refusal for an ice pack, Sam gave a nod. β€œAlways Phoebe, huh? You’ll have to elaborate further later, if you’re up for it.” He gave a weak smile, trying to seem less concerned than he actually was. He stayed silent for a moment, staring at the other. Quite honestly, Finn was much taller than he expected. Sam always thought he looked rather small in their video calls, but maybe it was just the camera angle or something? He wasn’t sure. He’s never really been good with technology, judging from the countless times he’s fucked up some settings on his phone and had to ask someone else to help him fix even the more simple issues.

Not only was he taller than expected, but also more muscular. What was he bench pressing? Great Danes? Was that what vet techs did all day? He doubted it, but it sure as hell seemed like it. Their video calls never prepared him for this, quite honestly. Sam himself wasn’t really that built, but he had some muscles due to his life on the farm. Sam pushed a loose lock out of his face, looking away from Finn for a moment towards the kitchen. Maybe now was a good time to get the stea- Oh. Finn’s voice pulled his attention back to him and he stared, raising his eyebrows. Worth it?

β€œYeah, though I do miss my chi- oh. Oh. I get what you mean.” He winced a bit at his own slowness, mentally beating himself up. The look on his face and the tone of his voice definitely meant there was a deeper meaning, and it was one Sam didn’t like very much. β€œFinn…” He sighed, placing a hand on his arm and motioning for the other to sit in one of the nearby seats. β€œFinn, I’m away from home. I’m independent and able to take care of myself. That’s what makes leaving home worth it. Considering Finn’s strong feelings towards this area though, Sam was very uncertain how he’d react to his little speech.

Specifically here? β€˜Live below your means and within your needs,’ as the quote goes.” He couldn’t remember exactly who said it, but that wasn’t the point. β€œListen, you always told me how much you hate the Southside, right? "Yes, my misfortunes usually are Phoebe's fault," Finn replied slowly. His words held no heat to them as he spoke about his sister- he stated his words matter-of-factly, as if he were simply talking about the weather. He was a rather cautious person, naturally, so he didn't engage in many things that could potentially harm him to such a degree. The majority of the time when he did end up hurt, it was due to Phoebe and her negligence. One could easily blame him for things, he knew; he didn't have to chase an eighteen-year-old around the city when she was old enough to make her own decisions. However, his parents felt much differently about the situation, and he was a mama's boy through and through- always had been. Whatever she asked of him, he tended to oblige. "It's okay, I've had worse." He hadn't- but that was beyond the point.

Samuel looked the same in real life as he did on Finn's computer screen. The same physique, same hair, and same friendly smile stared back at him as he took in the man in front of him. It was a nice treat that, despite all the ways Samuel had disappointed him, at least he was genuinely himself.. As Sam opened his mouth and began to reply, Finn's shoulders drooped a bit in disappointment. Was he seriously about to say the only thing he regret was leaving behind his farm animals? He hadn't wanted to fight, not really, but he'd wanted to make his displeasure known and have it be acknowledged. He'd resigned himself to the fact that Sam was going to play the oblivious game, and Finn was ready to let the conversation go when Sam seemed to change his tune.

Finn... the man began, and Finn bit back a cringe at the way his name sounded on Sam's lips. He didn't like that tone of voice coming out of Samuel's mouth; it reminded him too much of the last time they'd spoken. He let the man lead him by the arm to the seats nearby, and sat down with a small sigh on his lips. He listened intently to Sam's speech, trying to, wanting to understand the rationale behind the man's decision to live here in the Southside. They'd had this conversation before, albeit on less friendly terms, and he'd yet to understand why Sam wanted so badly to be a martyr. The Eastside had so much to offer a person like Samuel, while the Southside simply didn't; people ran away from that area, they didn't run to it. He was impressing no one, making no grand gesture by living here. He was just being ignorant, and Finn wasn't sure how else to get that across.

But then Sam asked if they could just drop it- be friends; and if that didn't sting worse than his concussion. He wanted to point out that months ago when they were video calling each other, shirtless, they hadn't just been friends, but he chose to keep his mouth shut. 'If you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all,' his mother had warned him many times; so he said nothing, not interrupting once as Sam spoke. He hadn't come here with expectations to rekindle something that had long been extinguished between them. He'd come here to see the man in person that he, at one time, had been so very close to; and maybe he'd come here to see what sort of answers he could get. "Yeah," Finn finally voiced after letting a moment of silence hang between the two of them. "Yeah, let's eat." He offered Sam a strained smile and pushed himself up into a standing position. He had long lost genuine feelings for the man, but his unintentional rejection still hurt nonetheless. "I had an interesting night last night. I'll tell you about it."

Going home alone had to be one of the worst things to her, but it was also something that she was used to. Stepping through the front door of the mansion that she resided in, listening as the only sound echoing through the halls was her own footsteps against in the immaculate floors. The house would've been lonely even if she had a family the size of Kris', but with it just being her and her dad... well, Ash had never felt so tiny or alone. Part of her even missed her older brother. Even if they'd never really talked or hung out in the sprawling house, at least it was nice to know that there was someone else in the house with her.

Instead, she was alone. Her dad was working -- as he always was -- and she never quite understood how there could be so much work at the police station. Ever since her mother had left them all without so much as a goodbye, Ash's dad had shutdown. Withdrawn into himself, and started focusing more on his work. Leaving Ash and her brother on her own but now without him... it was just her. She was jealous of her brother -- getting out of here, and leaving her.

She had walked through the living room, up the stairs, down the hallway to her bedroom. Stepping in, she had looked around at it -- at the pink wallpaper, the pink sheets, the pink everything. It was all so childish, screaming that it belonged to some five-year-old wannabe princess instead of an adult like Ash liked to think. But she could never get her dad's attention long enough to ask him if she could change it, and there were plenty of guest rooms to bring... ahem... guests back to. To, you know, make herself look less childish.

Not that Ash ever had a lot of people over. Despite the popularity, she tended to blend into the background. She was just another blonde, just another face, as easily forgettable as remembering to check the mail. Most days, Ash felt like speaking to her was as boring as watching paint dry, and maybe that was why she was always alone.

At least at the end of the day, she still had Jeffrey. A smile had drifted across her face as she opened up the cage door to her sleepy elderly ferret. She wrapped him up in her arms, holding him tightly to her, as she crossed over to her bed. With Jeffrey curled against her side, she fell into a deep seat -- paint still staining her clothes and dried in her hair.

--------

The next morning, Ash was woken up by her phone buzzing. She let out a groan, fumbling for the phone on her nightstand and finally managed to find it. Ash opened it up, wincing at the light from the screen and squinted her eyes in order to try and see the screen better without burning her eyes. There was a text from Dean that just said "911."

She tried to stumble out of her bed, but her legs were tangled in the comforter and she ended up falling painfully to the floor. Ash let out a loud huff, a groan eliciting from her lips, along with a couple swears. She wanted nothing more than to climb back into the bed and sleep the rest of the weekend away, but instead she pulled herself up. She searched through the sheets for Jeffrey, giving the ferret a quick hug before carrying him over to his cage and sliding him in.

Ash took a shower, struggling to get the paint out of her hair, before getting dressed in her usual attire. Her hair was dried and curled, her makeup carefully applied, and then she was out the door and catching the nearest subway to head down to the girls' meetup spot. It wasn't long before she was there, poking her head in and looking around, surprised to find that she was the first one there. Ash bit her lip and headed in, making her way to an unoccupied table to take a seat.

A waitress greeted her, and Ash offered her a faint smile. "Oh, uh... hello. Thank you." A faint blush crept across her cheeks as she made her way quickly over to a table, sliding into one of the booths. She pulled her phone out of her pocket, scrolling through Instagram and Twitter while she waited for her friends.

Katherine | 18

Katherine knew that she owed more than a simple sentence about her phone. She had acted like a raging bitch but in her mind, he hadn't been much better. He'd offered her some sort of gift that she only saw as a way to get back in her pants and then had given it away to her sister. He'd surely noticed they weren't exactly friends. At the same time, she was the one who'd harshly rejected him so wasn't that her fault too? Ugh, just thinking about it made her head spin. Her thoughts were interrupted by Izzy's voice and she noticed the food he'd had delivered. There was a lot of it and it smelled amazing. Her pride couldn't get in the way of her need to eat, not unless she wanted to hurl. "Sure. Yeah, I could eat," she nodded.

Moving her long black hair to one side, she moved to grab a plate from his kitchen. She easily knew where most things were from her time spent here when they were together. She threw some of the food onto her plate and made herself a cup of coffee before sitting down at the bar. Her eyes finally met his as she took a bit from one of the bagels, hoping the bread would aid in soaking up the liquor in her stomach. "Thank you...for breakfast and not leaving me to be arrested. I guess," she managed, letting her walls down for the moment. Maybe it was because they were alone or she was sober, maybe she actually meant it. Either way, she'd said and that had to count for something. Right?

Kat planned on leaving as soon as possible but as she sat there she didn't feel so eager to do so anymore. Besides, she could use a shower and she was sure she had some of her old clothes left around here somewhere. "Did you move the furniture around?" she asked as she scanned the room. Way to go, Kat. Everything looks exactly the same. So much for small talk. "Can we like..just forget last night? If you wanna give gifts to other girls then who am I to care? I mean, I don't care. We aren't together anymore..." she knew the words were less confident than she'd like them to be because she didn't mean them. Of course, she fucking cared. "That fight, she had it coming. It had nothing to do with you," she added, another lie.

"Kris! Kris!"

"Oh, my god." Kris looked up from her nails that she'd been painting, staring at her window as she heard a familiar, annoying voice calling her name. "What do you WANT!" She shouted back, even though she knew he wouldn't hear her. Her window was closed, and the smell of acetone was strong in her room. Lifting her hand, she inspected the finger she'd been working on, finally deciding that she'd done an okay job at her home french tips.

It had already been some time since Kai had called her name. Probably only a few minutes, but in Kai time, that could mean alot. Heaving a sigh, she shook her nails to dry them, glad she'd been on the last one anyway. Clad in a pair of shorts and a cut-off t-shirt top, she stood from her chair and made her way to the window, nudging it open.

"What the fuck do you want, Kai?" She snapped at him, her eyes shifting from her brother to the fire he'd made. "Seriously? You called me because you made a fi- wait a second." She froze, her blood running cold as she recognized the flash of color from within the flames.

"ARE THOSE MY JIMMY CHOOS?!"

She disappeared from the window, only to appear at the back door a few seconds later. Charging outside, she stalked right up to Kai and shoved him. "What the fuck is the matter with you?" She snapped, looking at her long lost heels burning away. "You are the biggest piece of shit on the planet. You-" Her phone went off then, and she stopped, glaring at her twin while pulling the device out of her back pocket.

Reading the 911 text, she clicked the device off and looked back at Kai. "I'll deal with you later." She warned, obviously still fuming as she turned away from him. Since she didn't have a car of her own, she had to walk, so she found her sandals and started off. She fumed the whole way to the diner, spotting Ash inside. Kris made her way to the table and slid into the seat opposite the girl, wiping a thin layer of sweat off of her forehead.

"Where is Dean?"

Ryan hadn't slept a god damn wink last night. First of all, the party itself had been a fucking disaster. There had been fighting, fire, puking, paint can explosions, pretty sure someone had gotten a concussion. Yet another party in the southside neighborhood. At least the cop that everyone was crushing on hadn't shown up... not that the cops hadn't come, towards the end there. Ryan had had to snatch the wine cooler Kris had out of her hands (pretty pink straw included) and pretend it was his. Fuck.

But beyond all of that, his one night stand was pregnant, and she'd told him in the worst way possible. And he'd reacted in the worst way possible! Adi probably hated him. He honestly had no idea where she'd gone after the mishap in his room. Carter had disappeared too, but Ryan wasn't about to text him and ask for a heart to heart.

Christ.

He could smell the acetone from Kris and Elsie's room, and he was sure he heard some screaming, but he wasn't going in there. If he wanted to get high he'd do it the old fashioned way. He heard someone run past his door, and then... more shouting, but less loud? Maybe they were just further away now.

With a sigh, he left his room, looking out back to see Kris shove Kai and a fire burning in the firepit. "Jesus." Pushing open the backdoor, he was about to intervene before Kris shoved him into the fire but her phone went off and he thankfully didn't have to. She dipped, leaving Kai alone with the fire.

Ambling closer, Ryan saw the shoes burning and tsked. "Nice. You know she's gonna kill you, bro." Shoving his hands into the pocket of his shorts, he looked over at Kai, an idea blossoming in his head. "Say, Kai..." He started, unsure how to proceed. "I, uh... Might need some advice."

Carter slept like a baby. Or maybe a rock is the better term. He'd been having an okay time at the party, once he put Adi and Ryan out of his mind. But then she'd run right back into him, and all the negative thoughts shot back to the forefront of his mind. He'd been ready to snap, but seeing how upset she was really brought him right back down. It was dangerous to feel that way, to feel something more than friendship for anyone, but he couldn't help it.

He and Adi, despite how intoxicated she was, had a damn good night after leaving the party. He'd brought her back to her place, and things had gotten heated, right there in his car. He couldn't help but smirk a little bit at the thought that they'd done it where Ryan usually sat. Was he an asshole? Yes.

Adi had invited him inside, and after round 2, they'd both passed out together. He woke up first, and had gotten up to go take a shower after smoking his first cigarette of the morning. At least he'd gone outside for that. Coming back in and finding Adi still sleeping, he'd dug around until he found a pair of guy shorts. Probably Ryan's, but they would work for now, til he could get home and change.

Heading into the bathroom, he turned the water on hellfire and stepped under the spray after stripping. He kept his ears open for any kind of movement or noise, but heard none.

Fuck that party. Fuck Katherine! Alexandra just wanted to scream! She was such a bitch. Alexandra had left the party with a nice bruise under one eye and a busted lip. Today she looked like hell, and she felt like it, too. That bitch could punch, but Alexandra felt like she had gotten some good hits in herself. She'd also pulled some of Katherine's hair, and hoped the bitch felt it today and thought of her. After quite a few layers of concealer, Alexandra finally felt like she could leave her room.

"I'm going to kill her." Alexandra muttered to herself as she made her way to the kitchen for some tea. She even made it herself, not wanting to bother the maid. Not because she normally wouldn't, but because she didn't want to interact with anyone today. Of course, Val obviously had other plans in mind, as she'd had a few texts from the redhead upon waking.

Sighing into the cup, Alexandra closed her eyes and let the drink warm her from the inside out. She had no idea how long she stood there, sipping at her tea, when her phone rang again. Her eyes shot open and she glared at the device she'd set on the table, pursing her lips. After a moment, she set her tea down and picked the phone up, recognizing Val's name for the text.

"God, fine, I'm coming." Alexandra closed her eyes, then reopened them and sent the girl a quick text. An hour or two later she was arriving at the girls house, and heading inside. Dropping her bags on one of the chairs, she turned to the other two, placing her hands on her hips. "What's the emergency?"

"No, no, no!"

Josie groaned as she turned the key in the ignition of her old, beat up Corolla and nothing happened. Weren't Toyota's supposed to be good cars? Just for funsies, she tried three more times, with the same outcome. Yanking the keys from the ignition, she threw them out of the passenger side window, realizing a few seconds later how stupid that was. Already on the verge of tears, she sighed and shoved open her drivers side door.

With a sigh, she headed over to the side of the road of the semi nice neighborhood, crouching down to find her keys. After a few minutes of searching, she sighed, standing up. Giving up. Turning back to the car, she moved closer to it and kicked the tire. "Stupid piece of shit."

She wasn't far from the place she'd moved into, but her roommate was already weirding her out, so Josie needed to get out of the house. If she had to look at one more empty McDonalds cup...

Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted something shiny and thought it was her keys. Her head jerked in that direction, and she turned, but a little too fast. She'd been standing on a slight incline, but it was enough to make her lose her balance and fall, right into the ditch.

Right beside her keys.

She snatched them up and stood, now wet from the grass, and she groaned again. Was this her life now?

Elsie O'Reily

tumblr_inline_olvbj2OACh1t80jpm_250.gifv

The morning sunlight fell harshly onto Elsie's eyes as she tried to pull a pillow over her face to block out the rays. Unfortunately for her once she was awake, she was up. Heaving a heavy sigh, Elsie got up and looked over to the other side of the room to her older sister Kris concentrating on painting her nails.

"Good Morning," Elsie said with a smile towards her sister. There was no reply which was expected since sometimes Kris could be a little too self-involved sometimes. Shrugging off the encounter Elsie made her way to the bathroom and was surprised when it was empty. It soon became clear why it was empty as soon as she stepped into the shower, She let out a scream as it felt like icicles raining down on her. Usually, Elsie was an early riser so she never had to deal with cold showers, but all the drinking at last night's party slowed her down. After getting out of her icy shower Elsie changed into her favorite ripped jean shorts, wrapped her favorite flannel shirt around it, and to finish off the look she adorned a black crop top shirt that had once belonged to her sister.

Making her way back to her shared room she saw that it was empty and heard a commotion going on outside. This was nothing new as there was always someone screaming in this household, ignoring it Elsie continued on getting ready. Taking advantage of Kris being out of the room, Elise went ahead and helped herself to some of her makeup. She wanted to look a little bit older as she was about to go see Arsen, a boy she had been talking to. They had been talking and also flirting back and forth for a while now. She thought everything was going well until he left her on read when she invited him to the party last night. This left an uneasy feeling in her stomach as she hoped he didn't leave her for someone better. This was Elsie's greatest fear as she was constantly living in Kris's shadow. At school, guys would only talk to her or try to flirt with her to only get to her older sister. Insecurity clung to her like a wet blanket and if Arsen was trying to do the same it would crush her.

Happy with her look, Elsie left her bedroom and headed downstairs for a quick bite to eat. While in the kitchen she saw the note written by Jack but ignored it as the mess caused by last night's party was not her fault. Unlike some people in this household, she knew how to control herself.

Stepping out onto the porch, she saw the paint splattered all over the porch. She had heard the sounds of the fireworks and the yelling but actually didn't see the damages until this morning. Her one thought was she was not cleaning this up and that had better not have been her paints that she uses to paint or there would be hell to pay.

Walking past the twin who was yelling at each other as it was clear Kai was again burning something of Kris's. The walk to the park wasn't long and it was quite peaceful as the slums of Chicago had not woken up yet.

Once at the park Elsie sat on the bench they have always met at and waited until she had seen signs of him. She had texted him she was going to come to see him, but since he had ghosted her last night she hoped it would not happen again.

Phoebe raised an eyebrow at Jackson’s statement when she pulled up. She doubted he’d even no- oh, okay. He was going to just come in with a blunt. She guessed that worked. β€œI brought you McDonald’s since you were acting like you were going to die if I didn’t bring you food.” She lightly teased, passing him the food. β€œAside from that, Finn wouldn’t know about it if you didn’t decide to smoke in here. You gonna pay to get the smell out so he doesn’t kill both of us?” She spoke rather bluntly, though there was a smile tugging at her lips. It would be kinda funny for him to blow up, but probably not so funny after a little while. She liked β€œpoking” at her brother at times, just teasing and making fun of him a little to get a reaction. She was sure once he actually remembered the party from the night before, she'd be in deep shit. "Oh, you missed a lot." She gave a grin, glancing his way. "It'll be more fun to tell with Kai here, but I'll give you a hint; it was a knock-out."

Sometimes she wondered if she was adopted, given how different she was from him and their mom. She was closer in both personality and in relationship with their dad, but she still got in trouble with him more often than she'd like. She was always a daddy's girl, so the punishments were never that harsh. Her relationship with her mom wasn't that great though. It wasn't usually for her to hand the phone to their dad whenever Phoebe called. Maybe it was because a lot of the time it was when she had gotten Finn in some sort of danger, and started with the phrase "I think Finn died" so often? They were never really that close in the first place as far as she could remember, so maybe they were already strained and that little habit of hers made things worse. Her relationship with Finn... Phoebe could feel the change. She wasn't sure how she felt about it exactly. When they were little, it was as if she was tied to him with a thick, unbreakable rope. She would silently sneak behind him, and a lot of the time unintentionally scare him. Little Phoebe honestly just couldn't even stand the thought of him telling her to go away, just wanting to be close to her big brother who she idolized so much at that time. Over time as they grew, the rope loosened and got thinner and thinner. Now, they were still close but the rope was closer to a string, and they had some distance. She was changing and so was he, though not as much. She didn't idolize him anymore, but she couldn't lie and say she wasn't somewhat jealous.

Phoebe was pulled out of her thoughts when a motorcyclist nearly side-swiped the car. Her brows furrowed and she stuck her middle finger out the window at him. "Watch it, expired shit!" She called out, only recieving a middle finger right back. It wasn't long before she finally reached the O'Reilly's. "Kai's the baby so he'll be in the back." She told Jackson before taking her hand and slamming it on the horn as hard as she could. "Kai! Get your ass out here! Jackson and I are waiting!"

"Give me just a moment, and I'll be right with you," she said to the girl who just entered. She finished setting up the coffee maker and refilled the cup of the cop at the counter. "Just let me know if you'd like some more,” she says to him before setting the coffee back down and grabbing her notepad and paper.

Before she steps around the counter and towards her new customers, the bell behind her rings and an order is ready. The food was all there, but the presentation wasn’t the best. Today, she got stuck with the new cook and he was still learning, she understood that, but it’s been a week and a half and he made everything look like it couldn’t be eaten.

This was one of those rare moments that she wished that the more experienced cook Jamie, was here. She didn’t speak to him unless she needed to and he was always friendly and he was a better cook. Winnie hoped he was coming in a little sooner than later.

She tucks her notepad and pen in he apron and grabs the plates after trying to fix how they look as best as they can, heading to put them down in front of the customers that they belonged to. They giver her a thanks and Winnie tries donning a smile that is almost apologetic. When they are settled, she walks over to the girl who is joined by another blonde.

β€œGood morning, I’m Winona and I will be serving you today. Can I get you girls started on some drinks?”
Notepad in her hand and smile on her face, she looks down to the two girls, hoping that they weren’t little demons in disguised. She’s met a few in her short lifetime. The two girls tell their choices and she jots it down, telling them that she’ll be right back and heading behind the counter. The bell above the door rings again, but she doesn’t look up this time, simply stating β€œWelcome to Mickey’s, I’ll be right with you.”

If this sort of traffic was going to start to pick up, Winnie had to ask her manager if he could call someone in. She couldn’t run everything and she couldn’t trust the kid in the back to keep up, even though she constantly nagged him about his speed. She quickly obtains the drinks and sets it down on the table for them. β€œNow what can I get you?” She looked from her notepad to the girls, waiting for them to make up their mind about their orders. Before the girl on her right can say anything to her though, there is a loud crash that resonates throughout the store and Winnie winces.

"I will be right back," she doesn't wait for a reply and immediately walks to the kitchen. Her eyes go to the large pile of broken dishes on the floor and then to the burned rolls on the counter and then to the burning eggs on the stove. She glares at the little kid, but doesn't say a word instead heading towards the manager's office that is empty. She was going to kill her manager after she killed the cook. Glancing at the schedule, she notices that Jamie was eventually going to come in so she decides to call him using the office phone. It rings a few times before she hears that it is answered. "Hey Jamie, it's Winnie. I was hoping you could come in a little early, I'll owe you big time" She bites her lip waiting for his answer and she again hears the bell over the diner entrance ring again. God did she hope that he says yes.

Daniela "Dean" De Angelo

Daniela didn't know if the nausea she was feeling was because of morning sickness or the bundle of nerves in her stomach. She hoped it was the latter as she convinced herself that all her symptoms were for different reasons. Her walk to the diner was familiar as other than being their hangout spot, she also worked part-time as a waitress. Before she had left her house Dean had grabbed a few pregnancy tests that she had and was thankful. If someone had seen her buying them and then reported to Mason she would die.

Once inside the diner, she realized that this might not have been the best place to meet, as the smell of eggs and bacon was making her sicker. Taking a deep breathe she was able to keep everything down as she looked for her friends. It didn't take long until she spotted them and took a seat across from Kris and Ash. They were talking to a waitress named Winona who she knew as she and Dean were friendly. Maybe if so much wasn't going on she would have said hi and started a conversation with her but her mind was all over the place.

On the walk over Dean had planned to tell them calmly and work her way up to the big news that she fears she might be pregnant. As she sat down, she couldn't help it as the nerves in her stomach were too much and she just spat out "I think I might be pregnant," Instead of the hi guys how is it going she meant to start with.

Jamie Taylor

The quiet was welcomed as Jamie didn't get much sleep the night before. Half the night he had spent out with his friends gambling the night away after working at the diner as a cook. He was excited to finally get some sleep but the party at the O'reily's kept him up all night. This led to a rather grouchy Jamie as he was seriously considering giving that family a piece of his mind. They were always causing trouble and he didn't understand why his little sister associated herself with them. Of course, he wasn't any better as he liked to spend his night smoking and gambling his money away, but he liked to think he was.

Jamie was half asleep when his phone started to buzz and groaned as he didn't know who was calling him. Lane was at soccer practice and he wasn't supposed to work until tonight. Finding his phone he answered without seeing who it was and sure enough it was work calling. On the phone was a relatively new waitress and she was asking if he would come in and that if he did she would owe him big time. He could have easily had said no and shut the phone and gone back to sleep. No one would blame him as he wasn't due to come in and he didn't feel like dealing with the Karens of the world today. Something about her words and the noise in the background pulled at his mostly dead heart. He could hear the stress in her voice and the times they had interacted she had been nothing but nice to him as he can sometimes be an asshole.

"Sure, I'll be there soon," Was Jamie's response in a gruff voice as he ended the call. Standing up from his crappy bed, he quickly threw on some clothes on the ground and made his way out the door.

By the time he made it to the diner 30 minutes had already past since his crappy car wouldn't startup. He said a short hello to Winne who he had talked on the phone with as he made his way to the back. As soon as he opened the door, the smell of burning food met him. Cursing under his breathe he pushed the inexperienced kid out of the way and took over. As much as he hated to work, Jamie was damn well good at his job. The kid tried to complain about being kicked off but the sleep-deprived Jamie was having none of it. He ordered the kid to handle the prep and dishwasher duties and he got to work trying to fix the kid's mess.

Ava

She was still enthralled with the code before her. Her gaze moving over the lines, trying to figure out why it wasn't doing what it was supposed to do. Ava was starting to get frustrated -- she was a perfectionist! Something that you needed to be when you were in the middle of coding something, because even the smallest of mistakes would cause an issue. She now leaned forward, squinting at the lines of code, when she heard the front door open and someone enter.

Now usually, Ava was used to other people greeting any visitors. Her setup was in the back for a reason, and that reason being that when she was in the zone, she hated to be interrupted. And, actually, she hated people. So it was a few seconds of her still squinting at the code, growing impatient because Greg wasn't greeting whoever the fuck was out there, and--

Oh wait.

She then remembered that she was here alone, because most of the employees had taken the day off. Mostly due to the faulty pipe in the bathroom, and not wanting to deal with puddles every time they tried to use the bathroom. So she quickly... er, not so quickly, actually. The guy could wait another second as she tried to run the code again and... fuck. The first error was solved, but now there was a new one, and Ava really wanted to scream or smash her head into the desk.

Instead, she pushed away from her desk and stood up, poking her around the corner to see the guy in the front room. Wait, was this the repair dude? He looked like he peddled drugs on the side! Or... or... murdered people. He reeked of Southside, and that was enough to put Ava on guard. Where the hell was her tazer?

"Hey," she said as she walked towards the guy, awkwardly making little finger guns with her hands before she realized how stupid that looked, and what if he took it as an insult and actually shot her. Ava wouldn't put it past the guy, and although she was great at fighting in virtual reality, in real reality... well, let's just say Ava had the stamina of a snail.

To stop herself from embarrassing herself even more and to avoid doing, like, jazz hands, Ava slid her hands into the pocket of her hoodie. "Repair dude, right? For the messed up pipe? It's uh, it's back here." Ava didn't want to turn her back to the guy, but she kinda had to. So she did so, albeit a little slowly, and headed down the short corridor to the bathroom.

"The sink keeps like, leaking and uh... yeah."
