It's 2021. The world is fucked up. It has been for a while. Everyone is obsessed with celebrities, fashion, the latest trends, whilst ignoring all the shit that happens in the real world. Murder. Drugs. Suicide. Few people seem to notice the real world. That's because they hide it so well. They do their best to not let it affect them. Those who can't help but let it affect them, they're labeled as "emo", freaks, and get told that everything will be fine once they shove some pills down their throats.

Lately, more and more people see how fucked up the world is, and just want to get away from it. They choose to leave this world. And the rest of the people just bury their heads deeper in the sand that is the media. Ignoring the fact that people are dying all around them.

A few years ago, a team made up of programmers, scientists, and tech geniuses came up with what they thought to be the perfect solution to the problem. Introducing: the Simulation. Well, its full name is the Alternate Reality Simulation Experience, but... Well, the team didn't really want people to know it as the ARSE. Besides, if everything went to plan, this wouldn't just be an experience; it would become a part of everyday life.

Fast forward to 2020. The team behind the Simulation finally gave the public an idea of what they were working on.

The Simulation was designed to resemble this world. But without all the disaster. Stuff like that would be detected right away, and stopped right away. Sounds perfect, right?

It is exactly what it's called. A simulation. The end goal is for the entire world to be "logged in" to the Simulation. Jobs? Deal with it in the Simulation. Food? Deal with it in the Simulation. Heck, even stuff like pregnancies and funerals would be dealt with in the Simulation, with robots in the real world to take care of the physical stuff.

A few months later. April 2021. The team working on the Simulation put out an announcement asking for beta testers. About six teenagers, aged between 14 and 18. That was the age range the scientists said would be able to handle the Simulation best if anything went wrong.

Of course something went wrong. See, the team didn't exactly give out all the information about the Simulation. It needs to be directly plugged into your brain. The team had the teens all set up. They had been knocked out, plugged in, and were set to wake up in the Simulation any minute. But there was a glitch in the system. The team lost any and all control they had over the thing. And without control over the system, they couldn't even get the teens out of there without killing them.

The glitch in the system affected not just the Simulation, but it appeared to have gotten into nearly every other computer system on the planet, connecting all of them. And you know what that means? The Simulation could change at any time without warning, and anything could pop up. Something like that is extremely wild. And unpredictable. And dangerous.




You wake up in the Simulation. Around you are other people. You vaguely recognize them as the other beta testers. You remember going into a room, seeing the hardware of the Simulation, and then... Nothing. You remember nothing after that. You do know why you're here though.

You are a beta tester. You know your job is to check out the Simulation, look for bugs, that sort of thing. Of course, you have no clue about the system glitch, but how could you? Anyway, you'll find out soon enough.

  • Breaking these rules too many times will result in you being kicked out of the RP
  • If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.
  • Keep to site rules.
  • Swearing is allowed
  • Violence is allowed, as long as it keeps within the site rules.
  • Romance between characters isn't outlawed. Just remember to keep it clean.
  • Grammar and spelling, people: they're there for a reason. Use them. The occasional mistake is okay, I don't mind, but your posts do still need to be readable.
  • Characters go here. If they are accepted, I'll put them in the CS thread.
  • Out of character chatter goes in the OOC thread.
  • If you have any major ideas (scene changes, big enemies, etc.), message me before implementing them in the story. That way, we can work it out properly, and it won't turn into a chaotic mess.
  • That being said, don't leave everything up to me. I want this to be fun for everyone, but I don't want it to turn into a chore.
  • Even if you think I'm a huge ass, remember, I'm the ones who made this.
  • Have fun, but take it seriously. Fucking about can ruin the experience for everyone else, so don't be a selfish pratt.

Her name is Cieka Matteo, a 16 year old half Korean half Italian female. She doesn’t have any nicknames and her sexuality is bisexual. She’s short with long black hair and gorgeous green eyes, slightly tanned skin and a little chubby. She’s physically gifted from her mother and she only ever wears black skinny jeans, converse and a loose graphic tshirt with a oversized black jacket over the top.

People tend to call her cold hearted and moody, however she’s only like that to people she doesn’t know personally and are close to, otherwise she’s caring loveable and friendly. She loves pizza, anime, and manga. She dislikes homophobic people, most foods and people that annoy her for no reason.

Cieka can read excellently, wrote decently well and loves to solve trick questions and solve riddles, making her good at finding solutions to tricky situations. However, she isn’t good at everything as she cannot cook.

As a small child she moved from her mothers home town in Korea to her fathers home town in Italy, and a few years after that moving to Britain for her fathers job. On the side he also looks for glitches in games he plays, both through normal experimentation and by peering into the code. He's even made a few small games himself, and hopes to get a job in the game industry when he's older. However, in the real world, aside from his intellect, Kian doesn't have much else going for him. If he ever got in a fight in reality, he'd get his ass handed to him quite easily.

Kristie was an Archer for the GB Olympic team and L works for the CIA. L was on a mission at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia when they met.
Samantha grew up with her parents in a small town just outside the city with a surprisingly open minded community that didn’t mind a family with same-sex parents raising a child.
When Samantha was 3 years old she wanted to be, like every other little girl across the world, a ballet dancer so her parents enrolled her into a ballet class. She continued that until she was 10 when she switched to archery. After having gotten into a fight when she was 8 with some mean girls at school, L began teaching Sam how to fight. Sam quickly advanced and now they spar every weekend.
When same-sex marriage was legalised in the UK in July 2014 L proposed to Kristie 2 months later and they were married on the 8th of July 2016.
In early 2020 Kristie was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. With all the advances in medicine and cancer research there was still no full proof cure that didn’t involve going through the hell of chemo, so she decided to keep the diagnosis to herself and not go through any treatments. On L + Kristie’s 4 year Anniversary they took a drive to the beach where Kristie breathed her last breath in L’s arms.
After Kristie’s death Sam took archery more seriously as it made her feel closer to her mum. It was also as her way of coping. In the last year she had gotten pretty good. 99% of time she hit dead centre of moving targets and then when she ‘Robin Hooded’ her first arrow she felt immensely proud.
Since Kristie’s death L began to take on more assignments and became distant. As a way of trying to get her attention Sam bought a fake ID off a friend’s Mum and went to bars and clubs. Not to drink but to see if L would notice. Well, let’s just say she deeply regretted it when they began to spar that weekend.
In an attempt to get back into L’s good books she volunteered to be a beta tester. She figured that if she can prove to L, and herself, that she isn’t that little girl who’s scared of the dark anymore, her mum would come back to her and wouldn’t feel as if she had to protect her anymore...

The fletchings on her arrows are Dark Red and pinkey purple.

‘Robin Hooding’ an arrow - when you split an arrow down the middle with another arrow
Fletchings - the half circle/ half heart shaped things at the end of the arrow that helps it fly.
Quiver - the thing that holds the arrows.
Arm Guard - it’s pretty self explanatory but it’s the thing that goes on the inside forearm of the arm that holds the bow to protect your arm from being scraped by the string. (because it blooming hurts when it does)
Finger tab - it's the thing that attaches to your middle finger of the hand you draw back with to protect your skin from the string. It covers your 3 middle fingers with your ring and middle finger on one piece of fabric and your index finger on another.

When someone is left hand dominant in archery it means they hold their bow in their right hand and draws back with their left.

I hope this is ok and makes sense...

Background
Johnny was born in a broken home, with no money. Every night as a young child, Johnny would listen to his parents argue. About money. About food. About drugs. About him. His mother had convinced herself that the only way that Johnny, as well as his parents, would survive, is if they put Johnny up for adoption. She hated feeling this way, but it was the only way forward, and the best shot she could give to Johnny. His father felt differently. He had raised Johnny to value family above all else.
One day, Johnny's mother, Samantha, had decided she wasn't going to ask, anymore. During an argument with Johnny's father, David, she had called the adoption center. Johnny didn't know for sure what happened, but soon, the police were at his house, putting his father in handcuffs, and taking his mother away on a stretcher. Out of fear of losing his son, David had killed Samantha, and in doing so, broke his most important lesson for his son.
On the day his mother died, Johnny was 13 years old. From then on, he moved around, a ward of the state. He did whatever he could to survive. It wasn't easy, but he found a way. When he was 15, he was introduced to a rebellion group. They asserted that the government was conducting evil experiments on citizens, and that they were planning for a major war in an attempt to gain the resources they needed to survive. Johnny, who had survived with the bare essentials for several years, saw the evidence presented to him as valid, and decided to join.
At the age of 17, Johnny's group caught wind of the Simulation Experiment, which would begin when Johnny was 18, but was already looking for test subjects. Johnny's group asked him if he was willing to take part. To be a spy, and to see if there was any way the Government's plans could be subverted from within. He agreed to take part in the experiment... he just didn't know what he was getting into. No one really did.
