annoyed, angry, scared, irritated, irked... shall she go on?

mariah

the leaders sister

For a celebration of life, this place was pretty blah. To be fair, Mariah had just arrived, but she already wasn't looking forward to this. The idea had been her brothers-- Matthew's, considering Liam was dead-- as a way to celebrate their late brother's life, and bring the two gangs together. When he'd left five years ago, Matthew had gone and created his own gang, the Outlaws. Why? Because apparently, the Serpents weren't good enough for him. Maybe that wasn't a fair sentiment, but it's how Mimi felt. As far as she was concerned, Matthew had abandoned them, and more importantly, her. His baby sister, the one who looked up to him and needed him the most. And while he was out making his own family, she'd been kidnapped, held hostage for months until Liam found her and rescued her.

Truthfully, that time in her life still haunted her, though you wouldn't know it by looking at her. Although Mimi wore her emotions on her sleeve, she didn't like to let people in to the feelings buried deep below. The insecurities, the fear, the anticipation of the worst. She felt like all life had thrown at her was lemons: the loss of her mother, her father, and now her oldest brother. Even though she'd lost Matthew, he'd returned to them once River found him and brought him back, telling him the dreary news. But again, as far as she was concerned, he was dead to her, too. She had family in the Serpents that were closer than blood, apparently, and she'd wasted no time letting Matthew know how she felt when he'd shown up and she'd punched him dead in his face.

Her knuckles still hurt from that.

Liam's death had been about a month ago, and Mariah wasn't the only one still reeling from the loss of their leader. Matthew had shown up a couple weeks prior, so the two gangs had been intertwined for a short time now. Not everyone was happy about it. Mariah personally was on the fence, depending on the person. Granted, the Outlaws were smaller than the Serpents, but Matthew really had a vision that the two gangs could form one big, happy family. Ugh. Whatever. She'd make an appearance at this shindig because it was better than sitting at home, but she wasn't happy about it. That much was made apparent by the sour look on her face as she burst open the door to the clubhouse, looking around at the faces within. Scoffing, she'd made her way to the bar, ordering two shots of fireball right off the bat. She was going to need them.

Pulling her phone from her boobs where she'd stored it, she sighed as she swiped it open, navigating to her text menu. Finding the latest conversation with Brianna, she opened it and downed one of her shots as it was set in front of her, her finger never leaving the screen as she swiped a message to her bestie. Please come and save me. Something. I don't care what you do, I just need you here NOW!!! So maybe it was a little dramatic, but when was that not Mimi? Setting the phone on the bar, she snagged the other shot of fireball and downed that one as well before she slid both glasses back towards the seasoned member behind the bar. She thought about turning around to face the others in the room, but maybe staying like this would make it clear she was unhappy.

matthew

the new leader

"No, I'm not coming back, Sam. I told you this." Resisting the urge to breath a heavy sigh into the phone, he leaned forward on his bed, reaching up to run a hand through his hair. On the other end of the line, Samuel was still spouting off how they needed him back, that the Outlaws who'd chosen to stay behind were going apeshit without him there. Matthew had learned alot ever since forming his own gang, his own family. He'd never forgotten about Liam and Mariah, of course, but he'd needed to go. He knew Liam understood, even if he wasn't happy about it. Mariah was flat out pissed, and he knew that because of her greeting to him when he'd returned. Apparently someone had taught his baby sister how to throw a punch. On the one hand, he was proud. On the other-- ow.

When River had come and found Matthew, saying he was shocked would be an understatement. He'd never thought he would see any of the Serpents again, but there was River. And he'd brought news of Liam's death, basically telling him to get his ass back to San Diego. At first, Matthew refused. Someone else could take over; he had his own life now, one he'd built away from the Serpents. But River wouldn't take no for an answer. The pair had even fought over it, but in the end, River had won and Matthew returned. Mariah was the only one (other than River) to punch him in the face, but he could see it in some peoples eyes that they weren't happy he was back. Some didn't mind, and some were happy. There were all sorts of reactions to his return, but he knew he had to step in and be the leader they'd lost.

But when he'd broken the news to the Outlaws, some flat out refused to go. It hurt Matt that they didn't trust him, even though he'd been their leader for almost five years now. But he knew he had to go, and if they didn't want to, fine. They could stay and be on their own. Finally getting fed up with Sam, Matthew's head popped up and he removed the phone from his ear. Now he did sigh, before he brought the phone back up. "Sam. SAM!" He cut the guy off, waiting until he stopped talking before pressing on. "I'm done there, Sam. I told you all of this before I left, and everyone else, too. You made the decision not to come. As far as I'm concerned, you're out. Don't call again." Hanging up the phone, he tossed it aside and stood, removing the towel from around his waist. Dropping that in his basket, he turned to the clothes on his bed and slowly pulled them on.

The most he could hope for was no fighting, but that wasn't guaranteed, and he knew that. He also knew he couldn't hide out all night, especially since this "celebration of life" was his idea. It had seemed like a good one at the time, but now that it was here, he wasn't sure. Making sure he had everything he needed, he left the room at the clubhouse he'd been borrowing, making sure to lock it behind him. Then he made his way downstairs to the bar area, finding Mimi standing there. She glanced up at he came in and immediately turned her back to him, so he decided not to poke the bear. Moving on, he headed to another part of the bar to order a beer and a shot. Once he had them, he left the bar and headed outside, taking the shot and then lighting a cigarette from a pack he pulled from his pocket. Setting the empty glass and beer on the railing in front of him, he inhaled deeply, closing his eyes for a moment to enjoy the silence.

Stevie

LOCATION: infirmary -> patio.
MENTIONS: none.
INTERACTIONS: Matthew ( apolla apolla ).
OUTFIT: x, x.
The music was pumping, the bass beating against the walls of Stevie's infirmary office. The rather large room was directly placed over the main clubhouse floor. The walls were painted a light cream color, while furniture was made from dark metal contrasted against white hospital linens. An amethyst purple office chair along with some smaller items on her desk was the only real pops of color in the room. Her desk was placed in a corner, angled to face the door. It was rather dark, the room only illuminated by a desk lamp she had turned on to read through a few files. Therefore, the dark-haired woman who sat in that desk chair was mostly hidden in the shadows.

Stephania Torrero loosely held a highball glass in one hand, an amber liquid she knew all too well filling it up halfway. There was an apricot pink stain delicately placed on the rim, perfectly matching the color of her lips. She was reading through a file folder labeled 'Liam Cabeza,' received as a favor from an old nursing school classmate who now worked in the medical examiner's office. It was hard to believe that the man who indirectly saved her life was actually gone. Somewhere, in her mind, the only way she could come to terms with the fact that Liam was truly gone was by seeing the crude gunshot wounds drawn on the generic male sketch in the autopsy report.

Something about throwing this party didn't feel right. Sure, she knew it was a celebration of life. But it just seemed sadder, less deserved. Nevertheless, Stevie couldn't help but think it might be exactly what the rest of the Serpents needed to try to move on from the tragedy and become acquainted with the idea of their new leader. Matthew Cabeza. He had left all those years ago without a word, and now he was back to fill the hole Liam left behind. It was a tall order, but if there was anyone who could successfully merge two gangs, it was him. So, with that thought, Stevie closed the file, locked it away in her desk drawer, threw back the rest of the glass of whiskey, and stood. She assessed herself in the infirmary's full-length mirror once more, determining that her outfit of a black leather mini skirt, a white tank over a black bralette, and black combat boots was good enough for the night's event, and slipped out the door to the clubhouse below.

A cluster of Serpents and Outlaws filled the space, some dancing to the music, others chatting by the bar, and a few out on the patio. Stevie's chocolate brown gaze assessed the area, reading facial expressions and looking for anyone that might need her. She had been with the gang for a while and, given her nursing background, had taken on a mom/caretaker role for its members. She made sure she knew every single member, wanting to help them in any way they may need or want. If push came to shove and worst came to worst, Stevie would gladly put her life on the line for any Serpent. She wasn't quite sure she could say the same about the Outlaws, not yet anyway. But one day she hoped that she could. Satisfied that everyone appeared to be okay, Stevie paused briefly at the bar to grab her signature whiskey before she slipped out onto the relatively quieter back patio. Immediately, she lit up a cigarette, placing the cancer stick between her lips to inhale the toxic yet comforting smoke. Chasing it with a sip of alcohol, a familiar form caught her attention.

Even though Matthew had been back for a few weeks, she hadn't really seen much of him. Other than table meetings and the occasional announcement, they hadn't really been in the same room as one another. Stevie couldn't help but think that he was avoiding her, maybe because of how things were left when he went his own way. For a while, the brunette had been angry, like he had abandoned the Serpents. But she wasn't the type to hold grudges and had gotten over it in the years he had been gone. She moved up alongside him, setting her glass alongside his beer bottle on the railing. Turning her body to face his, Stevie offered the taller man a soft smile and said, "Hey, Matt. I feel like we haven't had a chance to catch up... How are you doing?"

Enzo

LOCATION: apartment -> bar.
MENTIONS: Matthew ( apolla apolla ).
INTERACTIONS: open.
OUTFIT: x.
The soft sounds of TV news chattered in the background of the relatively dim apartment, casting light onto the light heather gray walls in a flickering pattern. Generic department store art barely decorated studio space, somehow giving it personality while not alluding to that of the actual occupant. The furniture was made from dark wood and, to the discerning eye, mismatched. A queen-sized bed was centered in the far corner, covered in crimson and black bed linens. A black leather sofa facing a flatscreen sat opposite the bed, accenting the fairly open floor plan. Though the scrapes and tears on the furniture alluded to the secondhand nature in which they were acquired, the space look relatively unlived in, as though for show or someone had just moved in. But in reality, the lease had just been renewed for another year.

The sounds of pressurized water streaming onto the ceramic bathtub floor were white noise, streaming underneath the bathroom door along with the water vapor. It wasn't long before the shower was cut off, and a brunette man stepped into the main living space with a beige bath towel wrapped loosely around his waist. Lorenzo Graves ran a hand through his damp hair, gray eyes immediately glancing around the room in search of any intruders that may have infiltrated his home. Like usual, he found none. But given the recent drive-by murder of the late Serpents leader, one couldn't be too careful. He briefly glanced at the TV, rolling his eyes at another annoying story painting the Serpents in a bad light. In a town that was pretty much underground-run by a gang, they certainly loved to talk bad about the people with guns and relatively low morals.

Had he been asked a few years ago if he would ever be part of a gang, Enzo would have easily responded with a 'Hell no.' He had seen the horror the wrecked in the downtrodden parts of New York City, and he had pulled himself out of that wreckage to get where he was. Though San Diego wasn't much better, it certainly had better weather. That combined with the fact that it was practically as far away as possible while staying in the same country as his hometown made it an attractive place to move. It wasn't until Enzo met Liam that he truly understood the family and brotherhood that made up a gang. They were groups of people that always had each other's backs, regardless of the blood that they shared. That was what he had been searching for his whole life.

Liam's death had hit the brunette rather hard. He had looked up to the former Serpents leader as a role model and strived to be like him. In his mind, there was no way Matthew could fill the shoes Liam had left, even though they were brothers. Nevertheless, he was in charge now, and Enzo was loyal to the Serpents. So he would follow the orders he was given, including showing up to the 'Celebration of Life' party that had been planned for the evening. Realizing he did not want to be late, Lorenzo quickly dressed in jeans and a white tee. He slipped on his signature leather jacket before leaving, locking the door behind him.

The drive to the Serpents compound didn't take long. Lorenzo pulled his 1967 Chevy Impala into the gated area, parking in line with the other motorcycles and muscle cars. The place was more packed than usual, and he could already feel the bass of the music inside vibrating his sternum. People milled about outside, most of which he recognized but some that he didn't. Enzo cut the engine and headed inside, nodding to some familiar faces. Though he was still considered the new kid, for the most part, he had already begun to gain the respect of some of the guys which his in-depth knowledge of cars. After all, he was sure it was rather nice to not have to pay the mechanic shop anymore. Enzo took up a spot at the bar, raising a hand to order a beer. So far, everything seemed to be going smoothly. He could only hope it would stay that way.

Katarina Fox

The studio apartment wasn't anything fancy, but it was clean. Immaculately clean. Well, aside from the moving boxes that were still haphazardly strewn around the small but efficient dwelling. Katarina hated messes, and the boxes that remained were starting to drive her a bit crazy, but everytime she tried to unpack them, she was interrupted, or just... couldn't.

All of the necessities were already unpacked and had been put away. The boxes that had yet to be cut open were the ones labeled Marcus or Rosa. It had been hard enough to pack the items in the first place, and now having to go through them again was nearly impossible. Part of Katarina just wanted to throw them out, to cut ties with the things that brought her so much pain, but she knew she never could. Inside were memories that she couldn't live with... but couldn't live without.

A black, heeled boot kicked one of the boxes aside, making room for the closet door to swing open as dark eyes scanned the assorted jackets inside. It wasn't so much a matter of what color jacket to wear tonight, but rather which black jacket to wear. Kat wasn't concerned about impressing anyone with her choice of clothes, she was just trying to prolong the inevitable of having to show face at tonight's "celebration of life" for Liam.

Katarina had never met the man, and what little she knew of him was what Matt had shared about his old life before the Outlaws, which wasn't much. The brunette wasn't going to the gathering tonight for Liam. She was going for Matt. She was going in an attempt to make his life a little easier as he did his best to blend two gang families into one. Kat had chosen to follow him when he moved back to San Diego, knowing full well that the Serpents wouldn't necessarily welcome Matt nor his Outlaws with open arms. If they had, then the young woman would not need to attend tonight's party as a sign of unity. She could sit it out and let the Serpents mourn or celebrate or drink themselves into a stupor in honor of their late leader. But as it were...

A sigh escaped Katarina's lips as she grabbed a leather jacket from the hanger and slipped it on. She caught sight of a small box with "Rosa" scribbled on it in cursive letters, faltering for a moment before turning away and towards the door. If she was being honest with herself, which was becoming increasingly harder to do lately, everything she did for the Outlaws wasn't actually for Matt, or even herself. It was for Rosa, in the hopes that someday she could get her daughter back. At least, that had been the hope when she started killing for the Outlaws and was accepted into the de facto family in the place of her own that had been lost. But now... Now Katarina didn't even know if she deserved to have Rosa back after everything she'd done in the last few years.

The door slammed behind Kat as she strode out of the apartment, locking her thoughts of times past and the door behind her. She'd purposefully rented an apartment just down the street from the bar and loft for convenience. It was only a five minute walk down to the bar, so her motorcycle remained in it's spot once she'd exited the building. Ignoring all those that she passed on the street, Katarina arrived at the venue a few minutes later, the sound of her heels on the sidewalk the only thing breaking the silence on the walk.

Katarina rolled her nearly black eyes when the bouncer gave her a hard time, pretending not to recognize her since she wasn't a Serpent. As satisfying as it would have been to put the cocky man in his place, Kat held her tongue, simply pushing past the man as she reminded herself that she was here to make friends, not enemies. Or, at least just not make enemies. Friends were optional.

A quick glance around the bar told Kat that she was one of the first Outlaws to arrive, and she strode over to the bar to order a drink for company. "Tequila, on the rocks. One lime wedge, please." She ordered, leaning against the bar when the bartender glanced her way. Praying to a god who didn't exist that Ryder arrived soon, Kat took a sip of her drink when it was slid in front of her. She offered the bartender a simple smile, knowing it was never smart to rebuff the people fixing your drinks. One never knew what one might find mixed in...

Archer Hale

One, two, three... empty beer bottles decorated the table Archer was sitting at with a few Serpents, all of them his. Of course, a small tower of shot glasses accompanied the bottles, making it look like Archer had been at the celebration of life for hours, when in fact it had been hardly one. To say that the towering man wasn't big on sentimental occasions, would be an understatement. Whatever kind of closure the patched Serpent member was hoping to find, he seemed to be looking for at the bottom of a bottle.

Liam was gone, and no amount of crying, celebrating, or mourning was going to change that. Of course, it didn't help that this gathering was Matt's idea. One that Archer felt was more of a ploy to get the Serpents and Outlaws to come together in peace for once, than a night for Liam. Hell, the Outlaws didn't even know Liam, and the fact that they'd be here tonight rubbed Archer the wrong way. The past couple weeks hadn't been the smoothest, to say the least, but at least there hadn't been much bloodshed between the two gang families. They didn't need to be pushed together under the guise of honoring a fallen member.

Archer lifted his drink to his lips, realizing that his fourth beer was now empty as well. Standing from the stool that was almost comically small beneath him, Arch left the small posse and strode over to the bar. At 6'7", the gang member was no light weight, but luckily the libations had done a little to improve his mood. He grinned as he recognized the backs of Mimi and Enzo at the bar. Both were alone, separated by a couple meters of bar counter.

"Mimi, Mimi, Mimi..." Archer drawled, coming up behind her, and wrapping an arm around her shoulder. "You don't look like you're having much fun at all..." He observed, a little sarcastically since those who knew Liam best likely were going to be the ones enjoying tonight the least. "We should change that. Come join the party..." He added, using his hold of her shoulder to slide her down the bar with him until they were next to Enzo. "Oh damn, looks like the party is just Enzo for now." Archer joked, ragging on the newest member of the gang a little.

The bartender set Enzo's beer down in front of him, but Archer snagged it first, taking a swig. He instantly made a face, raising an eyebrow at Enzo's choice of drink. "What is this, sissy beer? You're gonna need something stronger than this to get through the night." He said, setting the drink back down in front of the recruit before gesturing to the bartender. "Three shots. Strongest stuff you got back there." He grinned, glancing between Enzo and Mimi, his gaze remaining on the latter. "So, where's your better half?" He asked, referring to Bri.

"The Best Friend"

Brianna Carlton

Clicks of a shutter were the only sounds that were cutting through otherwise peaceful atmosphere of the panoramic view of the whole place as its whole composition was being captured in the memory of Brianna’s Nikkon. She valued that thing more than she valued some people and it definitely belonged to her top three possessions along with her bike and the small flat she was sharing with Mimi Cabeza. This place, a hill over the town, was her go-to when she wanted to be alone, think, cry, clear her head or just take a few breath-taking pictures of fall nature with leaves on trees becoming all colorful, falling down, making the rich tree crowns slowly but surely naked for the rest of the year.

Currently going through her shots, a small smile was gracing Brianna’s lips. Currently blond locks tied into a high ponytail fluttered in a soft breeze, a few of them brushing her cheek every now and then. There were a few really good pictures, she was getting so much better at this. A self-taught photographer brought the camera up to her face again as suddenly a flock of butterflies appeared, dancing around some tall wild flowers Bri didn’t know the names of and he tried to capture the perfect shot when her back pocket buzzed. In all her focus, she didn’t expect it and it scared her that she almost dropped the camera. “Son of a—” she cursed, biting the rest of it, swallowing hard, as she fished out her phone, wondering who was bugging her now.

The device kept vibrating in her hand and not even a bitter evil eye from Brianna made the name of her father disappear from the screen. Swiping her thumb to the right, she picked up, barking a sharp ‘what do you want’ at the man. The longer he talked, the more annoyed and exasperated she was growing, the frown between her perfectly plucked brows deepened and her lips were twisted in a scary grimace. “Just stuff them in a box and put it outside in the front. I’ll stop by tomorrow. Or throw them out for all I care.” she cut the man after a while, not wanting to listen to the dry rant any longer.

The thing was, she and her parents, they were not exactly on speaking terms. Like ever. The Carltons were people who only had a child because it was expected of them and the high-end-ish society required offspring to take over the family business to keep it withing the grasp of the same people possibly forever. The surprise came when Brianna decided to ignore them the same way they ignored her the whole time and packed her stuff, leaving from one day to another only to join the gang. Guess what. Suddenly they were talking to her. And they cut her off, whoa, big deal. As if she couldn’t live without their money. And now, she was getting a phone call to come and get the rest of her stuff from their house. The audacity of that man was really something else.

After saying all Bri wanted to say to her old man, she just hung up on him, tucking her phone back to her pocket. Her green gaze found the spot where the butterflies had been but the moment was gone. And so were the butterflies. With a soft sigh, she turned on her heel, walking back to her bike and she tucked the camera into the pouch, zipping it into one of her saddle bags, fastened on her Yamaha. Just in time to come home, get a nice hot shower, change into fresh clothes and get her ass to Liam’s celebration of life.

Swinging one leg through the air, Brianna got on her bike, the engine revved and she sped down the hill, back to the place she shared with her best friend. The anger bubbling in her veins, one ignited by the phone call which was supposed to do nothing but rile her up (and, hell, it worked), serving like the best fuel in Brianna whipping the best out of her steel steed. The place was already empty so Bri assumed Mimi had already left. The blonde decided to hurry as the text she received from Mimi the second she arrived to the flat was making her go faster. “I’m on my way, order me my usual.” she texted the brunette back and disappeared in the bathroom.

It was a record half an hour later that the little miss walked in the clubhouse. This was no wake. No mourning, wallowing and tears. Not that Liam didn’t deserve it but it might not exactly be what he wanted. The leader knew how to live and Brianna was going to honor him by living as well and save those tears for another day. Or for when no one would be around. Greeting a few people, taking one or two or three shots with some of them, she was weaving through the small crowd gathered until she saw the exact people she was looking for. Sporting an affectionate smirk, she strutted towards them, blond locks cascading around her face this time and Bri hit the table just in time to hear Archer’s question. “Oh, I’m right here, stud.” she grinned widely, tilting her head back to actually see the handsome face of a man who kept her warm at night which was not that easy with her three inches over five feet. “You rang?” she asked playfully, scanning all three of them before going for a tight hug with Mimi. “So nice of you to wait for me with the party.”

The bartender brought over the shots Archer had ordered and as he was trying to walk past Brianna, her eyes lit up as she giggled something about welcome drinks. She shamelessly knocked back all three shots, patting the bartender’s face. “One more round of those, sweetness. And some for my friends as well.” Turning back to Mimi, Archer and Enzo, her eyes were already sparkling with the boozy glint. “Let’s celebrate Liam’s life then. Just the way he would.” she spoke and felt a pinch in her guts which had her biting the inside of her cheek, her smile fading for a millisecond, but immediately replaced by another one.

"the right hand man"

River Striker

A heap of sheets shifted on the bed, covering whatever or whoever was under until a whiny voice sounded and a pale arm moved the comforter slightly aside. “But…but you promised…” the brunette pouted, lifting her slender form up, pressing the white blanket on her front. “No, kitten, I told you I gotta go, can’t stay.” Another voice joined in and another figure resurfaced from the soft pile, skin visibly darker, shaggy bed hair, three-day old stubble covering his face and a smirk curling his lips making his whole expression more than a mischievous one. “I already stayed with you for much longer than I was supposed to, candy stripper.” he winked at the girl, not able to remember her name for the world so he just nicknamed her teasingly. It apparently worked because she started to giggle like a school girl which River used to press one more passionate kiss on her lips and swung his feet to the right, rolling out of the bed.

Another whiny sound left the girl’s mouth and it was one too many than River could handle. Yep, she was definitely the one-night-stand material. Or in this case, one-afternoon-stand. He had somewhere else to be and if he did not show up to celebration of Liam’s life on time, what would it say about him? Liam’s right hand, his possibly closest friend coming too late because he was rolling in the sheets with some random whore? Nope. No can do. He rather got out of there as fast as he could.

His naked form was stumbling around the room, looking for the individual items of his clothing. He had his shit, his pants, even the leather jacket was neatly hanging from a chair but where the fuck did he throw the boxer shorts? Had he been more attentive to the surroundings, he would have noticed the cunning, playful grin on the girl’s face. But since she stopped being interesting the second she became clingy, he just shrugged it off, not seeing it as a problem and just pulled the pants on his bare ass, making the girl gasp in surprise. That was really not something she expected.

“Have a great not, honey bear.” River sent her a wink and slipped his jacket on. Only too late she realized he was truly serious about leaving and by the time she jumped out of the bed, River vanished outside of her small flat, running down the stairs, taking them by two. “Fucking hell…” he mumbled and already regretted his decision to go on this kind of adventure. He should have gone to the pits, no one was clingy there. Then again, if he got his face fucked up before tonight, he was not sure Stevie would let him forget that.

The faithful stallion called Honda was loyally waiting for him in front of the seedy apartment building and River never wasted a second, hopped on it, not even bothering with a helmet, and sped away, never to see the girl or this building again. There was no reason anyway. He came, he saw, he fucked. Cute little brunette…Sharon or Janet or whatever. She was good. Very skilled with her lips…and body, too. A smile, or rather an impish grin twisted River’s features as he remembered that tiny form on him or under him…yeah, okay, he should stop. Coming to say goodbye to his pal with a boner was not exactly what he should be doing.

Checking the time once he parked his bike in front of the bar, he was not exactly late so that was good, right? Wondering where Matthew was, it was River’s plan to find the new leader. How River felt about this whole situation, he couldn’t say for sure. He and Matt used to be thick as thieves before the latter left and now that he was back, taking over Liam’s empire, River was actually excited. But there was something missing. He didn’t hate Matt, jesus, not at all. But the bond was not as strong as it used to be and they both felt it. However, though River was a lot of things, he was not a petty asshole. Well, not in things that mattered. And the Serpents definitely mattered to him. Matt was here to rule and River would be standing by his side as he was always standing by Liam.

Walking towards the door, his boots were leaving echoes of dull thuds. The place was getting a bit louder as quite a crowd was already inside. River shook hands, patted backs, hollered a few greetings but ultimately, he wanted to find Matt. Yet the man was nowhere to be seen for now. Maybe he hadn’t arrived yet. Figuring it would be best to wait for him at the bar, as the new leader was sure to get his refreshments at some point, River beelined over there, ordering a beer and a whiskey shot. Throwing it back, he tapped the counter for another and chased the amber liquid with a few sips of beer. “Well, well, well…look what the Kat dragged in…” he smirked, chuckling over his own word play, finding it extremely clever. “All alone tonight, Kitty-Kat, or are we waiting for more Outlaws reinforcements?” he asked Katarina, noticing her at the bar as well. He had nothing personal against her. He would be even willing to get dirty with her if she wanted. But…she was not a Serpent. Not really. Not just yet. And River did not trust the newcomers. Especially as gorgeous and mysterious as the pretty Latina over there.

Isabella Raine
izzy ~ 24 ~ honeypot / undercover

Isabella Montebello, daughter of the well-known and feared leader of the gang called Phantoms. Very few people knew what she looked like or really anything about her which might seem like a protective precaution taken by her father but it was purely strategic on his part. If people recognized her so easily then they could use her to get to him and she wouldn't be able to go undercover as easily as she had so many times for him before. It wasn't because he actually cared about her. That would mean the man was capable of emotion.

If he did then she wouldn't be here in the locker room of a nightclub owned by none other than the Serpents, the biggest rival gang of the Phantoms. She wouldn't have been undercover for nearly two years now trying to inch her way close enough to the gang's leader only for him to be taken out in an ambush by someone else. Izzy couldn't figure out who or how but it had pissed her father off enough that he was constantly pushing for her to make more progress.

At first, it had been all about learning their secrets, weaknesses, have eyes on the inside feeding him everything she could but now it wasn't just that. He wanted to take down the entire gang, claim the territory for his own and wipe them out of existence. At least, that's what she took from it. He urged her to be more involved and that meant going to this celebration merger party or whatever it was supposed to be.

It wasn't something new to her to be involved in parties thrown by the gang but she wasn't looking forward to this one in particular. Now that Liam was gone, someone had to step up and take his position as leader. By usual gang laws, the second in command is supposed to take over but the Serpents had special circumstances.

It had been run by generations of the same family and while that wasn't uncommon, someone from the family branching out and creating their own gang was. Which was exactly what Matthew had done when he left all those years ago. Now he was back to pick up where his brother left off, bringing along anyone from the so-called Outlaws that would join him.

Izzy and Matt had a....history. By the time she had known him, he'd already left the Serpents to start the Outlaws and she hadn't even known he was from the former until she was already too deep. Of course, he had no idea who she really was and she couldn't exactly tell him. Not that she wanted to either. Her father ruined too many friendships and relationships. If he managed to find out about Matt or vice versa, it would've caused more problems than they needed.

Long story short, Izzy fell for Matt and despite the circumstances, things had been going really well. Until he broke up with her that is. Whatever. It was ancient history now anyway. That still didn't mean she wanted to stroll down memory lane when they inevitably ran into each other and he recognized her. Part of her wasn't sure he even would though. It wasn't like they'd kept in touch or anything.

A loud voice suddenly boomed through the nightclub, the microphone amplifying it enough to reach even the locker rooms in the back of the building where Isabella was gathering her things. The announcer was introducing the next dancer onto the stage, cheering from the crowd erupted as she stepped out. The noise was enough to pull Izzy out of her trance, causing her to slam her locker and walk towards the exit.

"Going home for the night?" one of the bouncers from the club questioned as she approached the door. "Yeah. I'm off. I'll be back Wednesday," she replied, slipping her duffle bag onto her shoulder. Julian, the bouncer, had always been one of the more tolerable co-workers at the club. "Need me to walk you out?" he asked, a routine offer from him. "No, I'll be fine tonight," she winked, stepping out the door and into the fresh air.

It didn't take very long for Isabella to arrive at the Serpents gathering grounds. By the time she'd gotten there, it seemed like the party was starting to amp up a little though. She slipped her keys into her purse before sliding out of the car, her heels lightly clicking against the pavement with every step as she walked up to the place, eyes scanning the few faces that remained outside.

As soon as she made it inside she found the bar where she immediately heard Archer's very distinctive voice. Her eyes flickered over to the group that had formed nearby and she let a smirk form on her lips. Fuck it. Without thinking much about it, Izzy walked over to the group of four, ignoring the lingering tension between Mimi and herself. If you asked her, it was a weird tension anyway and she still wasn't quite sure where it came from or what it was about.

"Room for one more?" she said it like a question but she was rarely in the habit of taking no for an answer. "Three more shots, if you don't mind. I have some catching up to do," she told the bartender as she knocked back her glass of bourbon and slide the glass towards him. If she was gonna be here of her father's accord then she was at least gonna be...well, not sober.

ryder davis
rye ~ 26 ~ longtime outlaw member

When Ryder first joined the Outlaws he was a twenty-one-year-old who had made a series of bad decisions. His life had never been easy with a mother who split before he even had a chance to know her and a father who was around but not actually there. The man was rarely ever actually home and even when he was he wasn't sober leaving Ry to fend for himself at an early age. Until he was ten that is. Then he was ripped from the home and tossed into foster care.

Most would assume that when the system took you away from a bad home life it was because they wanted to give you better, to put you in a more stable or loving environment. They'd be wrong. Ryder's experience in foster care was quite frankly worse than living with his alcoholic father. The man might've been a crappy parent but he mostly just ignored Ryder, let him do his own thing. Better than abuse and trauma.

He was in and out of different homes who really only took him in for the checks they got from it and usually, he was being mistreated by the adults who were supposed to be taking care of him. On top of this, he rarely got along with the other kids in group homes so he was often in trouble for fighting. People would claim his behavior is what led to him not being adopted but he knew it wasn't just that. Kids his age were hardly ever looked at twice for adoption and he wasn't stupid enough to ever believe it was in the cards.

In Ry's mind, he would always be on his own and that remained his mentality throughout his teenage years. It stuck with him that no one would ever look out for him but him as he landed himself in and out of juvie for petty crimes. It stuck with him as he stole to get by and sold drugs to make a quick buck. It stuck with him all the way into adulthood. At least, that was until he met Matt. From the moment they fought side by side in that bar, Ry just had a gut feeling that Matthew was someone he could trust which wasn't something he'd come across often.

Time only proved that his instincts about Matt were right and not long after that chance meeting he was becoming an official member of the Outlaws. While it did take him a while to fully trust the rest of the men who had joined, eventually he did. For the first time in his life, he had a real family. People who had his back and who he would die for because they would gladly do the same for him and it was all thanks to Matt.

This was why when his fearless leader decided to return to the Serpents after his brother's death, Ry joined him without even an ounce of hesitation. Why wouldn't he? Not everyone felt the same way though, that much was clear when some questioned his choice to merge the gangs and others refused the idea completely. Of course, it was always hard to lose fellow members with who you'd made bonds with but the way Ry saw it was that if they walked away then they weren't loyal brothers to begin with.

Ryder didn't mind the whole merge thing too much. He was hesitant on trusting people right off the bat but other than that he knew that Matt wouldn't jeopardize the Outlaws as a whole so he would roll with it. That wasn't to say he wouldn't keep his guard up or eyes on certain things and he damn sure wouldn't bite his tongue for anyone else but he'd play nice...mostly.

He parked his motorcycle and stepped off of it, sliding the keys into his pocket. Glancing around he noticed Matt in the distance lighting a cigarette and decided he would go talk to him but just as he made his way over another familiar face stepped up. He couldn't place exactly where he had seen the girl before but he knew for sure that he knew her. He managed to get a little close before it finally hit.

He'd slept with her.

What was she doing here? And damn it, what the hell was her name again? Guess he was about to find out.

"Matt, you got one to spare?" he said, motioning to the pack of cigarettes as he walked up. His gaze shifted to the woman, looking her up and down as he attempted to recall her name with no luck. "I'd say it's a pleasure to meet you but it seems this isn't our first run in. Lucky's Pub... Three or four months ago if I'm not mistaken," he was probably a little fuzzy on the details but close enough. "You a friend of someone Matt's?" he asked curiously. It would explain her presence after all.

  • how she's feeling...

annoyed, angry, scared, irritated, irked... shall she go on?

mariah

the leaders sister

Mariah made the mistake of looking up at some point, her eyes landing on the exact brother she didn't want to see. Well, the only brother she had left, considering Liam was gone. The words still made Mimi sick to her stomach, but not as much as seeing Matthew's face. She made a face at him before she turned away, making it clear she wasn't interested in talking to him. She was acutely aware of his presence when he slid up to the bar a ways away from her, but this time she didn't look at or even acknowledge his presence, and thankfully, he got the hint and didn't try to talk to her. She released a breath she hadn't even been aware she was holding when he got his drink and left without a word, though her curious nature got the best of her and she turned her head just in time to see Matt disappear outside.

Her eyes were drawn to another male figure down the bar some, and Mimi's eyes widened when she recognized Lorenzo. The guy had been a part of the Serpents for about a year now, and Mariah still remembered how he'd been nice to her from the beginning. Some gang members shied away from interacting with her for fear that Liam would have thought they were flirting, and they didn't want to get their asses whooped. Others shied away from her because she could be a stone cold bitch. There were a multitude of reasons, really, but Enzo had never minded hanging out with her. The two of them had been pretty flirty at one point, until Mimi realized that he was into Izzy. Feeling embarrassed, she'd said some not so nice things to Enzo and they hadn't talked much since.

Tearing her gaze away from him, she held up two fingers to signal to the bartender to give her two more shots of Fireball. Before he could even pour them, though, Mimi heard a familiar voice drawling her name and an arm slid around her shoulders. She turned her head to find none other than Archer, his signature grin on his face as he called her out for not having fun. "Who, me? Come on, can't you tell? I'm having a blast." She rolled her eyes, punctuating her point as he started to move her down the bar. Closer to Enzo. She tried digging her heels into the ground but that definitely didn't work, and before she knew it, Enzo stood just on Archer's other side. He grabbed Enzo's beer and chastized the newbie for his choice in "sissy beer" before he ordered 3 shots of the strongest stuff the bartender had.

"I was waiting on-" Mimi started to say, just as Archer turned back to her and asked about her better half. And as if speaking about her summoned her, Bri's voice reached Mimi's ears. Mariah felt her sour mood dissipate some at seeing her best friend, though she saw the look Brianna gave Archer and felt it return full force. The jealousy monster was real within Mimi, but she knew she could never hate Brianna. And somewhere deep down, Mimi knew she only felt that way because she had her own issues in her mind, but she wasn't ready to deal with those. Returning Bri's hug, Mimi smirked at Brianna's comment. "I waited as long as I could. I got bored." Shrugging, she started to reach for one of the shots as they were set down in front of them, but Bri got to them first.

"I am so not holding your hair tonight if you want to praise the porcelain god." Mimi laughed, leaning against the bar. Admittedly, Brianna could always put her in a good mood, though once again that good mood was apparently not meant to last. Izzy approached the group of four, asking if there was room for one more. "Havn't you heard five's a crowd?" Mimi muttered, not caring if her words were loud enough to be heard, which they definitely were. This time when the shots were set down in front of them, Mimi snagged one first and knocked it back. "Why did I come here again?" She looked over at Brianna, reaching up to run her fingers through her own dark hair. She was surrounded by people who she hated or either hated her, and she wasn't in a mood to watch people flirt when she herself had no one. "Oh, right, life celebration and all..."

    hopeful for the evening

matthew

the new leader

The liquor from Matthew's shot burned just the right way as it slid down his throat, the alcohol coursing through his veins nicely. Though one shot wouldn't even get him near buzzed, it was enough to relax some of the tension in his shoulders as he stood there, smoking his cigarette on the dimly lit porch of the compound. It might look like he was lost in his thoughts or not paying attention, but Matthew had learned over the years how to appear uninterested in his surroundings while simultaneously taking everything in. He was on his highest guard, knowing that bringing two gangs together was not the easiest task in the world. There was bound to be fights and disagreements between the members of the Serpents and the Outlaws as they learned how to become one.

Reaching for his beer bottle, Matt lifted it to his lips to take a swig, glad that the night seemed to be going well so far. At least, no one had ended up shot or stabbed, and no outsiders had shown up trying to cause trouble. His heart twisted uncomfortably at the thought, knowing that was pretty much exactly how his brother had died. Liam's death weighed heavily on Matt's heart because they weren't on good terms in the end. In fact, the last time they'd talked was when Matt told Liam exactly how and where to find Mimi, and that had been some years ago. At the end of that conversation, Liam had asked Matt to help, but instead of agreeing, Matt had simply refused and hung up the phone. He knew that Liam would go save their sister, and in his mind, his good deed was done.

Now Mimi hated him, the girl having no idea that Matt was the one to give Liam the intel to save her. Sure, Matt could tell her, but what was the point? She probably wouldn't believe him anyway. She was too angry, her emotions too raw, and Matt understood that. So for now, he'd keep his distance, not wanting to earn another slap across the face from the girl. She'd definitely learned how to hit while he was gone, and he was proud but also not interested in receiving another one. Setting the beer back down, he sighed and leaned further on the banister, his eyes scanning the area around the compound for any sign of trouble. For now, all he saw were a few members milling around outside, though most of them were inside having a good time. At least, he hoped.

For someone who was supposed to be paying attention, though, his head turned quickly when he saw an arm stretch out to set a glass next to his on the railing. He recognized Stevie almost instantly, her silky dark locks and knowing eyes something he would never forget. His gaze softened as they turned to face each other, Stevie offering him a small smile as she broke the silence between them. She asked the golden question, and for a moment he thought about breaking down and telling her everything. Stevie always had a way of making him feel safe, like he could talk to her. But now he was the leader of not one but two gangs, and telling her that he was afraid of how things might turn out would make him weak. At least, in his eyes. So he kept his answer brief, taking another sip of his beer before responding.

"I'm alright." He lied, his eyes glancing around the compound again before he looked back at the dark haired beauty. "Just trying to bring everything together." He offered her a small smile in response to hers, moving to lean against one of the banisters holding the roof to the porch up. He regarded the woman standing not far from him carefully, remembering the relationship they used to have. Though far from an actual relationship, he could still remember their times spent in his bed, or her bed, or anywhere, really. And thankfully, even after they stopped hooking up, she'd never turned her back on him. Even though he'd technically done so to her, and the rest of the Serpents. "How are you, Stevie?" He didn't voice it, that he knew Liam's death was hard for her and everyone else, but the words still hung there in the air between them.

Before she got a chance to answer, though, they were joined by another familiar face. Hearing Ryder's familiar voice, Matthew glanced over at the guy, realizing he was asking for a cigarette. Smirking, Matt pulled the pack from his pocket and handed it over to his friend. "Need a lighter and for me to smoke it for you, too?" He teased, his eyes flicking back to Stevie as Ryder implied that they'd met before. Lifting a brow, Matt crossed his arms over his chest, a knowing smirk tugging at his lips. "You two know each other?" He asked, keeping his voice casual, though there was a note of teasing in it as well. "Stevie, Ryder. Ryder, Stevie. One of the most badass females you'll ever meet, Ry, so be careful. She can kill you and make it look like an accident."

When Stevie had first joined the Serpents, it was more about protection and family than rebellion and power. Sure, she had a loving family of her own, with parents who cared for her deeply and two younger brothers that looked up to her. The Serpents, however, became an extension of that family, people she cared for as if they were blood. That relationship grew over time, especially with Liam. Her ex, Clark, was a brutal man, eventually revealing his true colors to her after several months of dating. He wasn't afraid to hurt anyone just to get his point across, Stevie included. The rest of the Serpents know doubt saw the bruises and marks he inflicted, some of whom even stood up for her against Clark. Liam was one of those people.

When he showed up to her apartment that night, all it took was one look at the hand-shaped bruise forming on her neck and the bloody slash marks ranging from sternum to shoulder and shoulder to elbow for Liam to take her side. He helped her hide a body, get rid of the evidence, without a second thought, despite having been a friend of Clark's. Even the gang leader could tell when things went too far. Her relationship with Matthew was a lot like her relationship with Liam, although some of the former took place between the sheets. Both knew, however, that it was just about actions and not about feelings, and it worked for them. Stevie thought of the tattooed man as a really great friend, which is why it stung when he abruptly left.

The brunette nurse could tell that she caught him off-guard, surprised that he hadn't heard her approach. She had always been good at reading people, some better than others. So she could tell Matthew was holding back in his answer. As much as she wanted to question him further, to get him to tell her what was really going on so he didn't bottle everything up inside, she didn't get the chance. Instead, the pair were joined by a face that was strikingly familiar to her. Stevie wasn't entirely sure where she had seen him before, inhaling from her own cigarette as she appraised him. But then it hit her: Lucky's Pub. Tilting her head slightly., she answered Matt's questions with, "Yeah, a little too well."

When Stevie had met Ryder at Lucky's on neutral ground, it hadn't ever occurred to her he could be a gang member. Sure, he had the look. But he didn't proudly announce it like most of them did, and so she just assumed he wasn't. Their night spent together between the sheets of his bed was alcohol-induced, but not unwanted, and helped her get her mind off things for a moment. He had been good, but one-night-stands were only that to her, and she left the following morning before he awoke, not even leaving her number behind. Matt's comment about her caught Stevie by surprise for a moment, glancing at the taller man. Surely he couldn't possibly know how true his statement was right?

Shaking it off, Stevie put on a smirk and tapped her cigarette over the railing. "Nice to see you again, Ryder. Didn't realize you were an Outlaw," she commented, grabbing her beer bottle for a sip. She couldn't deny that it felt a bit awkward, being in the presence of two guys she'd slept with but never dated. But what could she say? A girl has needs, and if she was able to get the help of two attractive gang members in satisfying those needs, who was she to complain? Knowing that there was no way Matthew would talk to her about feeling with Ryder around, Stevie decided it best to continue with the change of subject. Glancing at Matt, she grinned and said, "That's all the nursing training, it has dual purposes. I'm the one who fixes you guys up after you stupidly get into fights." She turned her chocolate brown gaze back to Ryder and winked. "So don't go getting on my bad side."

Despite being newer to the Serpents, Lorenzo still felt as though he fit in fairly well. For the first time in his life, he had a consistent family he trusted, people he could fall back on if he were to need it. Several of the members were like the big brothers he never had, role models he looked up to and wanted to be like. They were tough, take-no-shit types who protected their own regardless of the consequences. The women were just as tough, some potentially even more so for dealing with the guys. It was dysfunctional sure, and there were several rounds of fighting and getting fixed up. But it was home.

Just as Enzo was about to reach out for the beer set in front of him, a large hand reached out and grabbed it. Confused, he turned to find Archer alongside him with an arm wrapped around Mimi. "Oh, hey," the brunette man greeted, grinning at two people he considered his friends regardless of what they thought of him. Noticing the face Archer made, Enzo let out a low chuckle. "Just because I don't drink straight Everclear all the time doesn't mean I have poor taste in alcohol," he answered, reaching out to grab back his beer. Taking a drink of his own, he nodded to the Serpent leader's sister, offering her a grin. "Mimi, you look great tonight by the way," he said, a bit of flirtation tainting his tone.

One of Lorenzo's flaws was his flirtatious nature, even when he didn't notice he was doing it. He had inadvertently been quite the heartbreaker over the years, despite not wanting or trying to be. He couldn't quite help it, being surrounded by so many physically and mentally attractive women. Case and point, as Brianna joined their slowly growing group at the bar. The bartender brought over the shots the large gang member had ordered, and Enzo couldn't help but tilt his head curiously at the strong-smelling liquid. "That has to be pure rubbing alcohol," he said, taking another sip from his beer. "I don't know about you all, but I'd like to remember the rest of the evening if you don't mind." Thankfully, though, Bri threw back all three shots as if they were water.

"Damn, remind me not to pick up the tab when you're around," the mechanic said in an impressed yet teasing tone, smirking at the redhead. Nevertheless, he raised his bottle and nodded. "To Liam." It wasn't long before another blonde joined them, Isabella. Enzo definitely heard Mimi's words but nevertheless offered Izzy a welcoming grin. "Don't mind her, the party's just started. We're happy to have you," he answered, taking a step back so that she could fit amongst them at the bar. Despite the tension between a few of them, Enzo was happy to see their group growing in honor of their late leader. "How was your day, Izzy? Anything exciting happen?"

Katarina Fox

Though Katarina would have preferred a friendly face to keep her company, her tequila was doing the job quite nicely. Squeezing a bit of juice from the lime wedge into her drink, she swirled it around gently as River called over to her. Well, well, well…look what the Kat dragged in. Rather than immediately responding, Kat just sucked the tart lime juice off her finger as if it was sweet, not sour. "You know... I killed the last man clever enough to use that line..." The Latina replied casually, raising her glass to her painted lips as a wry smirk tugged at the corner. "I wonder how you'll fare..." She mused, before taking a sip.

The tequila burned the back of her throat as it went down, reminding the brunette that she could still feel things, and she turned her dark gaze towards River finally. Appraising the Serpent for a moment, Kat let his question about her being alone tonight hang in the air, in no rush to answer. It wasn't that River Striker had done anything specific to earn the Outlaw's immediate distrust, but he also hadn't yet given her a reason to trust him either. Preferring to err on the side of caution, particularly when it came to men, Kat held him at arm's length. For now. But if River wanted to set the stakes with a few play on words with her name and comments about being alone, then Katarina would see his banter and raise him ten.

"Reinforcements?" Katarina echoed, raising a thin eyebrow as she tipped her head to the side slightly, eyeing his smirk. "What makes you think I ever need reinforcements?" She asked, taking another sip of her drink, leaving a ring of dark lipstick on the edge. "And the only time I'm alone is when I want to be." She added, a bit of edge to her remark as she slid down the bar towards River, closing the gap between them. "I may be an Outlaw..." Katarina purred, glancing up at River as she leaned in a bit. "But if I wanted to, I could convince any one of you Serpents to keep me company." Kat assured him, a dark grin playing on her features. "...I just have better taste than that."

Her last comment was in jest, for the most part. Katarina really was trying to play nice with the Serpents for Matt's sake, and she didn't think poorly of all of them. River just made it so tempting to knock the smirk off his face. "What about you though? Surrounded by your people and yet it doesn't look like you've found who you're looking for." Kat observed, taking a step back away from River, leaving a comfortable distance between them once again. She drained the rest of the tequila from her glass, and motioned for the bartender to fix her a second one.

Archer Hale

One could argue that Archer was not very intune with his more emotional side. He preferred to talk with his fists than with words in most conflicts, and avoided sentimental things like the plague. Unfortunately though, he couldn't avoid tonight's "celebration of life", which was already too soft for his liking from the name alone. To get through the night and avoid feeling the loss of his leader and friend, Archer had made it his goal to drink the bar dry. Or, at least to have a good time. And so, when he spotted Mimi and Enzo at the bar, he decided to really get the party started- Archer style.

The giant just grinned and shook his head at Mimi's sarcastic response that she was having a blast as he pulled her over towards Enzo. Sure, the newest member of the Serpents had been around a while, but Archer enjoyed hazing the youngin nonetheless, and was putting in extra effort ever since Liam's death since it offered a much needed distraction. Despite Archer's chastising, the rookie chuckled, holding his own, which the older gang member appreciated. "Hell, you might want to try just drinking Everclear... might put some hair on that baby skin chest of yours." Arch retorted with a smirk, patting Enzo on the back firmly.

Brianna arrived with impeccable timing just as Archer was asking Mimi about her whereabouts. She grinned at him, and the tall man returned the grin. "Speak of the devil..." He mused, giving her a once over with a wink. He scowled a little though when Bri tossed back all his shots and crossed his arms. "Don't make me regret being glad to see you woman..." He uttered, playfully glaring at her until she ordered another round for everyone. His grin returned though when she brought up celebrating Liam's life and he chuckled a little. "Well we were trying to, but you just drank all our fun."

Izzy strolled over, asking if there was room for one more, and both Archer and Enzo stepped back to make room. "Always Blondie..." Arch added to Enzo's welcome, before nudging Mimi's arm playfully. "Lighten up Boss... That’s right, we're celebrating." He said, grabbing one of the next round of shots that the bartender laid out in front of them. "To Liam..." Archer said before tossing back the liquid, echoing Enzo's earlier toast, though a little delayed.

"Now Bri... What were you doing that was so much more important than drinking with us in honor of Liam?" Arch asked, moving over to stand between Bri and Mimi, his arms wrapping around each of the petite women’s shoulders easily.

"do not go gentle into that good night. rage, rage, against the dying of the light!"

Brianna Carlton

Being late to the life celebration of their late leader was not exactly frowned upon but Brianna admitted she could have come earlier. While she was definitely coming down from the hill with having enough time to get ready, that shower felt so amazing that she spent way too much time there, just standing under the spray of hot water, letting it run down her body, almost sear the shape of water droplets into her skin. The blonde savored her little me-moment until she realized there was an event she had to attend. From that moment on, the preparation was pretty much fast. Clothes, refreshing the makeup, blow-dry the hair and she was ready to race to the clubhouse but it already made her late.

The party was already on, she could see that. There were probably a few rounds she needed to catch up with and that was the reason why she downed all three shots served by the bartender. Liquor burned her throat a lot but she barely made a face. Brianna might have been petite but the girl knew how to drink and she could beat a guy three times her size in a drinking contest. Still standing by Mimi’s side, Brianna had to laugh a lot hearing her comment on the porcelain god. “Shut up! Last time that happened we were still at high school. I grew up a bit since then.” she offered a smug smirk. It was quite an ironic statement, considering Bri’s petite form and the fact that she had not grown an inch since high school.

Enzo’s comment made her shake her head a bit. “What? Stingy are we? You should stop sipping that one bottle of beer there and join us with a real drink.” she teased the newest Serpent and tapped the counter of the bar to catch the bartender’s attention. “Keep those coming, sweetheart, we’re celebrating.” she wiggled her eyebrows at the young man. After all, this really was a celebration of life. Liam wouldn’t want them to mope and it was not like the Serpents would be sitting around in circle and sing Kumbayah. “And you…” she finally turned her attention to the giant of a man by her other side, tilting her head back to really see his face. “There is not one time you’re not happy to see me so stop lying to yourself and drink.” With the last syllable of those words, the next round of shots was served and Brianna reached for hers. “To Liam indeed, wherever that sucker is now…” she mumbled and threw it back is if it was water.

When Izzy joined the group, Bri offered her a welcoming smile and would have gone and given her a hug but considering her history with Mimi…well, Bri was a real good best friend. The blonde herself had no feud with Izzy and so no problem with the other blonde joining them in celebration. “Smile, Mimi. Nobody likes sour bitch.” she grinned at her dark-haired friend, teasing her a bit in a way she knew she knew she could. “I mean it though. Just think of Liam, hm? Come on, let’s get hammered together like we used to.” she winked at Mimi, speaking in a quieter voice before Archer came between them setting his heavy arm around her shoulders.

“Arch, honey…honestly, I was in the shower and it only took me so long because I had no one to scrub my back.” Bri looked at her lover, winking playfully. “Had I had some help, I would have come much sooner.” she shrugged, being shameless as always but her face was sporting the most innocent expression ever. “But tell me how much do I have to catch up and I’ll make it happen.”

"the right hand man"

River Striker

River’s idea for the night was to come to the bar, have a few drinks, maybe even more than a few, spend the night with friends, honor the fallen friend and celebrate the way he lived and not wallow in misery because he left. It was quite a nice idea that River nurtured for days prior to tonight. Having a small circle of friends around him and commemorate Liam as their leader. That was what River imagined and that was what he wanted to do. And yes, he was late because of his random roll in the sheets with some random girlie, but now he was here and ready to get this party started.

Imagine his surprise when the first person he came across was definitely not a Serpent. Or at least not yet. Katarina Fox was a beautiful woman, curves in the right places, face to die for, lips cut out perfectly and River knew that if she kissed them, they would be soft and pillowy but could also be equally venomous. This Latina was definitely not someone to toy with and everyone with at least an ounce of reason would back off only seeing the strong woman aura radiating from her. Yet, River went in head first, as usual. Not that he was a simpleton without brain but it was just his nature to poke around and tease and provoke.

"You know... I killed the last man clever enough to use that line...I wonder how you'll fare..." she told him and where others would run packing, River just smirked, taking a long drink from his beer. “So you say I’m clever, chica? I’m flattered, you’re thinking highly of me.” he winked at her, focusing on the wrong part of the message. Well, if Kat wanted to fight, he would definitely be down. River would never lift a hand to touch a girl in the wrong way but something was telling him that this brunette would definitely give him run for his money. He was still confident enough to say he would win though.

As the girl moved closer and taunted him about being alone only when she wanted and how she could convince any Serpent to keep her company but her tastes were better than that, River clicked his tongue, sporting an amused grin on his face. She was sharp as a tack that one. "What about you though? Surrounded by your people and yet it doesn't look like you've found who you're looking for."

“What makes you think I haven’t?” he mused and reached over to touch a loose strand of her chocolate brown hair, tracing it down to the ends. He retracted his hand shortly after not to lose a finger or two though. “What if I found exactly who I wanted to? Admit it, Kitty-Kat. We have chemistry.” River was mostly teasing her. Sure, if she ever wanted to move past this witty banter relationship, River would never say no. For now though, he was just poking her to see what made her tick.

Isabella Raine
izzy ~ 24 ~ honeypot / undercover

When the bartender sat the three shots down in front of her Izzy knocked two back without a second thought. Her eyes trailed over to Mimi when she spoke up, something about five being a crowd. It was a comment that Izzy didn't care enough to respond to so she just rolled her eyes. If you asked Izzy what the deal was between her and Mimi, she wouldn't be able to tell you anything. Seriously. She had no idea what the sudden tension was about.

A couple of weeks ago the brunette had started to act like she didn't really want to be around Iz. Making comments or just leaving a room when she walked in. It was strange and while Izzy was curious, she wasn't hurt or anything. Maybe if she was the type to get super attached to friendships and people then she would've been bothered by it but she wasn't. She couldn't be, not in an undercover job or really in this life at all. It was impossible.

Izzy never understood why a lot of gang members seemed to make this big deal about being "family" or whatever. Maybe that was due to her father's own gang never seeming so tight-knit, at least not to her. They were all loyal to each other but it always seemed so much more about money and business than family. You don't get too attached to people because they come and go or get in the way. Izzy was taught early on that getting too close made you weak and so she tried to avoid that.

"Always Blondie..." Archer's voice cut through the tension and she offered him a smile. "Thank you, Brother Bear. The warm welcome is always appreciated," she nudged him, pushing her extra shot to him and ordering a drink. Too many more shots and she might end up on the bar tonight which she definitely did not need.

"How was your day, Izzy? Anything exciting happen?"

Enzo's words brought her out of her thoughts and her ocean eyes flickered over to him. "It was a normal night at the club; nothing too interesting. Well, unless you count Hazel and Luna's third catfight of the week. Something about one of them stealing the other's regular. The customers enjoyed the show so," she shrugged as she said it. It was stupid but maybe she didn't care because the dancing job was only for her undercover and not her only source of income.

"What about you? How is this whole merge thing going so far?" she asked, mostly out of curiosity but a little information wouldn't hurt either. Get her father off her back after he'd been calling about ten times a day. "I mean, everyone seems to be getting along for now," she added, "Maybe you won't have to break up any fights tonight," she winked, taking the mixed drink and sipping it slowly.

ryder davis
rye ~ 26 ~ longtime outlaw member
Ryder had never considered himself to be a so-called fuck boy but he wasn't exactly on the fast track to commitment either. His life had always lacked stability so he didn't really know how to deal with long-term connections until he became an Outlaw at least. Still, just because he was promiscuous that didn't mean he purposely went around treating women like shit. That wasn't his style. He might've broken some hearts or shrugged off some stuff that he shouldn't but he wasn't outright a dick to anyone who didn't deserve it. Well, not any one of the female population.

Luckily for him, Stevie hadn't been one of those clingy, overly emotional types. They had met, hooked up and that's really all there was to it. Not that he wouldn't go for seconds because damn, she was hot, and seeing her again definitely reminded him of that fact. He was just grateful that he didn't have some awkward story to refer to when it came to her although he really didn't expect to see her face again...well, ever. "I didn't know you were an Outlaw."

True. He didn't exactly go around announcing it unless he needed to or just wanted to play up the intimidation thing. Ryder was honestly a secretive guy when it came to his personal life, well, most of it. "Pleasure is all mine. To be fair, I didn't know you were a Serpent." he replied naturally with a grin. Lighting the cigarette that rested between his lips he chuckled a little at Matt's next comment about her being able to make murder look accidental. He could hear the hints of sincerity behind his friend's tone though so he knew this girl was not one to be messed with. It made him kinda curious to know more.

"Ah, a mother hen and killer wrapped into one? I'll be sure to stay on your best side," he winked. Inhaling some of the smoke, Rye glanced around at a few new faces joining the party. Every time that the door opened to the compound, the noise from inside seeped out. "At least everyone is actually managing to come together tonight. Guess we will get to see how long that actually lasts, huh?" he shrugged, tossing the cigarette after a few more hits.

"So, I take it you two were close back in the day, huh old man?" he kidded with Matt, even though the guy was really only a couple of years older than him.

mariah

the leaders sister

A part of Mariah-- granted, a tiny part-- knew that her jealousy had no place here. It was a pointless emotion, because what was the point of being jealous over someone who didn't even want you? Mimi was used to being treated pretty much two ways, being the younger sister of Liam. And Matthew, too, now that he was the leader, but even when he wasn't things were the same. People either treated her like a fragile, elegant piece of glass that might break at any second or they used her for their own personal gain. Whether they just wanted a body to warm their bed for a night or they wanted to get closer to one of her brothers, apparently, Mimi was the way to go for that. She absolutely hated being used, and she hated being treated like she was breakable. Which one did she hate more? It was a toss up, really.

Her mood had improved slightly when Brianna appeared, though it soured quickly as the flirtations started and then Izzy joined the group. Mariah knew her words about five people being a crowd would be heard, but it was only Archer and Brianna who responded. Mariah shot Archer an annoyed look when he nudged her arm, though the look transferred over to Brianna when her friend called her a sour bitch. The words stung, but only because they were truthful. No one else would dare talk to Mimi that way, and even though Mimi was used to Brianna speaking her mind, something about it tonight really bothered her. She said nothing as Brianna turned her attention to Archer, leaving Izzy to chat up with Lorenzo on the other side of them.

"Like I said, five's a crowd." Mimi muttered, this time to herself. Reaching for two of the shots set on the counter, Mimi downed them both before she set the glasses back on the counter. For a moment, she just stood there, drumming her fingers on the counter. Slipping out silently wasn't like her, but neither was standing around waiting to be acknowledged. Heaving a sigh, she pushed off from the counter, looking over at the others. "I'm going outside." She announced, turning away from the four of them just as her vision began to blur. The truth of the matter was she missed her brothers. Both of them. But even though Matty was back, she couldn't just let go of the anger she harbored towards him. She'd been fucking kidnapped for christ's sake, and he didn't even care. Yes, she was still very angry about that, and everything else.

She waited a beat before she turned around, marching towards the door that led outside. She shoved open the door, nearly smacking someone with it in the process. Stepping outside, her eyes scanned the area, landing on the trio off to the side that included her brother, one of his groupies and Stevie. Realizing she was staring and her eyes were still dangerously close to dripping, she quickly sniffed and kept walking, descending the stairs and immediately hanging a left, taking the path that would lead to the little lake nearby. She didn't look back to see if anyone was following her, nor did she slow down to allow them to catch up if they were. She just knew she needed a moment, or else someone was getting a shot glass thrown at their head.

matthew

the new leader

Matthew already felt more at home standing there talking to Stevie. And when Ryder joined them, he couldn't deny that he felt safe, knowing that both of them would have his back. He meant what he said about Stevie being able to kill someone and make it look like an accident, even if he didn't know the exact truth behind the words. He'd seen her hands work miracles as she stitched up wounds and removed bullets from gunshot wounds and so much more. He had no doubt her skills had only improved throughout the years, and he was glad she was still around. He wouldn't trust anyone else with his wounds as much as he trusted Stevie, because as far as he was concerned, she was the best. He would never want anyone to take Stevie's place.

And when it came to Ryder, Matt knew that the guy would have his back no matter what. They'd become fast friends that night when Ryder was getting ganged up on and jumped by those fucking assholes, and Matt joined in to help Ryder out. Somehow Matt seemed to know that Ryder didn't deserve that, and after he and Ryder beat the fuck out of those guys, their friendship really started. Now they were like brothers, and Matt had been nervous about asking him to join him in combining the Outlaws with the Serpents. Somewhere in his mind he knew that Ryder would come with him, but he'd definitely been relieved even still when Ryder agreed he would come. Now it had been a few weeks since the merger, and so far, things were pretty okay.

What intrigued him now was how Stevie and Ryder seemed to know each other. There wasn't any jealousy on his part, just curiosity as to how they knew each other. He straightened, pushing off of the banister and reaching for his drink. He brought the bottle to his lips and took a swig from it, looking between the two as they greeted each other. When Stevie ended her statement by telling Ryder not to get on his bad side, he nearly snorted. Lowering the bottle, he wiped at his mouth with the back of his hand, setting the bottle back on the railing. "She means it, too, man." Smirking, he crossed his arms and leaned against one of the pillars, looking from Stevie over to Ryder. Ryder commented on how things were coming together, and he'd just asked if he and Stevie were close back in the day when the door burst open.

Matt's eyes immediately shifted over to the door and the poor Serpent that had nearly gotten run over. Lifting a brow at the girl that stepped outside, he realized two seconds later that it was Mimi. She was obviously pissed and upset about something, and he felt the sudden urge to go over to her. But even as he pushed himself off the railing to go over to her, he saw the look in her eyes as she looked over at him and froze in his steps. He glanced over at Stevie, a sigh leaving his lips as Mimi shoved past the Serpent she'd almost hit with the door, descending the stairs and disappearing down the path that led towards the water. "I don't even..." He gripped his beer again, draining the rest of the contents before he tossed the bottle in a nearby barrel for trash. "She hates me."

Stevie

LOCATION: patio.
MENTIONS: Mimi.
INTERACTIONS: Matthew ( apolla apolla ), Ryder ( jasmyn jasmyn ).
OUTFIT: x, x.
As a nurse, Stevie knew the effects that cigarettes, alcohol, and drugs had on the body. They were detrimental, caused inhibition that could lead to bad decisions and regret. Nevertheless, she couldn't help but partake in them, though much less the far latter. The cigarette between her fingers was an attempt at keeping her sanity in check. After everything she had seen and everything she had done, the brunette kept a lot of her mind in check with the bad habit. As she inhaled the bitter smoke, a feeling of calm washed over her, relief of stress like a weight off her shoulders. The gray-tinted smog flitted between her parted lips into the air above their heads, swirling until it dissipates into not a single trace. Stevie chased the bitter air with a swig of her whiskey, squelching burn with burn and good choices be damned.

The word 'killer' caught the brunette woman off-guard, her golden eyes darting up to the dark-haired man across from her. He couldn't possibly know, could he? Ryder's wink settled her nerves a bit, realizing he had only been joking. Of course, he didn't know. He couldn't. "I like to think I hold this whole dysfunctional family together sometimes," she quipped, a teasing smile turning up the corners of her lips. Just as Ryder commented on the past relationship she shared with Matthew, a loud bang was heard. Stevie immediately glanced towards the door, she saw Mimi shoving past another gang member and heading towards the water. For some reason, there had always been tension between her and the other brunette. Oftentimes, the nurse tried to offer her advice as she did with all of the Serpents. But Mimi would barely have a conversation with her, let alone listen to anything she had to say.

Stevie turned her attention back to Matthew, hearing his words. She shook her head, her once teasing smile turning slightly sad. "She doesn't hate you, Matt. You're still her brother. Upset, yes. Disappointed, maybe. But she most certainly doesn't hate you. You two can work whatever this is out, you just need to actually try, actually talk to one another," she answered, reaching out to place a gentle hand on his shoulder. It was a small but hopefully comforting gesture, representative of their previous friendship before he had left. A friendship that Stevie hoped they could have again. Her hand dropping, the nurse took one final drag from her cigarette before stomping it out beneath her heel. Her eyes scanned the crowd inside through the patio windows, finding familiar faces all seeming to be having a decently good time. "I suppose it helps that the Outlaws and Serpents were never really at war with one another. Less bad blood to overcome," she said in response to Ryder, shrugging one shoulder. "But that doesn't mean I don't fully expect to have a few bruised and bloodied in my infirmary after tonight. Too much energy in one place can be explosive."

Enzo

MENTIONS: none.
INTERACTIONS: Bri ( _amaranth_ _amaranth_ ), Izzy ( jasmyn jasmyn ).
OUTFIT: x.
Growing up in New York City had certainly prepared Lorenzo to hope for the best and expect the worst. His mother had him when she was really young, a fresh face in town straight from London. She had been used to English city life. But things were different in America, moreso than she could have expected. Without money or preparation, she ended up mixed up in the wrong crowds and ultimately pregnant. While she knew who his father was undoubtedly, that man didn't agree, and he left her on the streets to care for a child all by herself. That all being said, Lorenzo had a fairly decent childhood. Sure, he grew up running around back alleys and getting in to trouble far too young. But he felt that it taught him street smarts, things he wouldn't have otherwise learned.

Nevertheless, none of that prepared him to be a gang member, not entirely anyway. That being said, the Serpents weren't a usual gang. Sure, they meddled in guns and illegal activities. But there was more to it than just that. It was a family, a brotherhood, a place of belonging for misfits. And Enzo was certainly a misfit. Taking another drink from his beer, Enzo realized he had already emptied the bottle and so he sat it on the counter. "Fine, fine. But if I make any bad decisions, I'm blaming it on you," he answered Brianna with a grin, tapping his fingers on the counter to signal the bartender. "Whiskey on the rocks please." No sooner had the words finished leaving his lips was a lowball glass of amber liquid over a whiskey cube slid in front of him. With a node, the brunette brought the glass to his lips and took a sip of the burning liquid.

Grey eyes flickered over to the blonde who had joined them, appraising her shortly. He would be so incredibly wrong in saying she wasn't absolutely gorgeous. Izzy was a stunner, and he couldn't help his flirtacious side when she was around. "Third of the week? Damn, you'd think they would tire out eventually. And no fights for you? They probably know better than to mess with you, huh?" he replied with his charming smirk, turning his body to face hers. At her statement, he quickly glanced around the room, noticing that everyone seemed to be chatting, some more amicably than others. That being said, no one had thrown a punch just yet. "It's going well from what I can tell. The Outlaws and the Serpents were never at arms, so there isn't a whole lot of hate between them. That being said, who knows what the influence of alcohol could do." Turning back to face her, he grinned and took another sip from his glass, "Though if you're into guys who break up fights, I think I could make something happen."
