The Rail Cars

"Oh, stop that, you're almost making me feel guilty about myself." Jessica remarked with a klick of her tongue, her eyes wandering over the assembled pack as she just nodded towards Aggaroth. "What's even good about this morning, huh? Nothing to bite, awfully quiet in terms of actual news from the Order and never being able to get some actual rest because some goddamn water thinks dripping unto the ceiling is what really is important in life. And if it couldn't get any worse already I got this feeling that the roof might just collapse because for some godforsaken reason bats have the impulse to sleep upside down, and I...." Only then did Jess actually notice that she had been starting to get into an endless spiral of cussing, making her bite her tongue as she just shook her head, her ears pressed flat against her skull as she exchanged glances with the rest of the pack..

"Whatever, what's important is that we actually get some bellies filled or we'd not even be able to survive the winter. Hell, some actual luxury could also be great, when was the last time we actually slept in a bed? Or had a shower. Now, I'm not calling names but some of us would really be helped by a long, warm, thorough shower." Jess added as she puckered her nose, grimacing softly as her superior sense just decided to sucker punch her with the scent of this lovely train cemetery coupled with the lingering smell of unwashed fur...

And the weak smell of flesh and the sensation of a beating heart outside in the wide grasslands that made up the center of the abandoned railroad town.

"There." Jess finally spoke after a small pause, her clawed finger extending to pinpoint the exact location where the scent came from. "There might be something worth our time there. Faint smell, warm blood, might be some rabbit or any other small critter or maybe someone trying to hide, either way it'll be worth investigating..." The bat hybrid remarked with bared teeth as she took a step forward...Only for her to groan at her side aching due to having slept uncomfortably, making her turn towards Quinn and with a rather inelegant motion hoisted herself unto his back, her slender frame coming to sit on top of his horseback as her claws tried to balance herself on top of him.

"Anyways, I say we'd get into motion lest we're going to let moss grow on our bones."

Eluscia was strolling around the wide open space of the rail yard, the middle was generally left deserted, like a battleground between the two factions. Though she simply walked along in what could almost be considered a skip, humming a tune to herself as she went, glancing around at the piles of scrap metal and thrown away objects, her tail twitched as a certain glint of light caught her attention, her tail flickering a little in a curious manner. Moving curiously towards it and beginning to crouch down onto her hands and feet as she approached, eyes wide and whiskers twitching as she sniffed the air, a smirk growing on her face as she began digging through the pile for whatever the object was, squinting at each object to make out its shape in the early morning light, throwing hunks of rusted metal and broken glass over her shoulder as she continued to look for it, "Shiny, shiny, sparkle, sparkle~" She muttered playfully as she went.

It wasn't long before her hands grasped around a small wooden frame of a broken photo, the outer lining having small metallic pieces that were easily reflecting the light and she was forced to close her eyes as she tilted into a place of reflecting the rays again, she giggled a little, re-opening them to further inspect the object. She was always in for a new toy after all~ Though once getting a good look at the dirt covered photo it revealed the image of a family, her eyes making out the blurry figures after a few moments as she lightly gently reached out and touched it, "Mom….. Dad….. Child." She whispered softly under her breath, stroking the image carefully over the broken shards of glass holding it within, her expression softening a little, "….Lost…." It wasn't a moment later that she dropped the object and suddenly held her head with both hands, letting out a rather loud cry of pain, pushing against the sides of her head with her palms, being careful not to claw her own face in the process as her teeth gritted against one another. Her legs still positioned in a crouch.

"Hurts, don't listen, be quiet! No, No, No, No!?….. Shh. Not true…… Don't listen, don't listen." She muttered to herself, soon burying her face in her palms, "Mom….. Dad……" She let out in a small voice, from a distance her small and malnourished figure could almost appear to be that of a child, she looked very young for her age after all, her short hair only strengthening the childish appearance further.

Azir Narset

The mage's sentence went off with a bang, sending a waver of uncertainty down his spine.

The more he thought about the suspicious sounds, the more it felt like a staging. His brows furrowed and the grip on the metal bar hardened. He prodded it against her back in an inpatient manner. A low growl escaped his throat and his blue eyes narrowed.

All along, there had been sounds, yet no approaching movement, not even the slight wisp of wind; if this wasn't a set up, Azir didn't know what was. Besides, when the mage stumbled his way, she was having more of a leisurely stroll more than anything.

A blank expression crossed his face and he inwardly smirked. If she wanted to play mind games with him, he would gladly play along.

Azir's icy-blue eyes narrowed and he exhaled roughly, the sounds rolling off his tongue in an exaggerated manner.

“First, The Pack wants my head on a stick and now you come along with a horde of mages that consist of one fire-spitting one?” Azir demanded, prodding the female mage with the end of the metal bar, “are you actually serious?”

He shuddered at the memory. The pink-haired one was quite aggressive, and that was the last time he wanted his clothes singed off his body. How he made it alive, he couldn't remember. As long as his head was still on his shoulders, he didn't need to bother with the finer details; it was quite traumatizing and humiliating to say the least. Running through a mountain of rubbish while an angry fire-chucking woman screamed after him? Now that was something he'd love to forget.

Azir glared daggers into the back of her head, a husky string of profanity found its way out of his mouth.

“How unlucky do you get?” Azir whined and without waiting for an answer, he continued, “now get moving.”

The blonde-haired and blue-eyed man tisked impatiently.

“As much as I'd like to leave you here with The Order, I trust that you'll tell them all about my whereabouts. As flattering that may seem, just remember, you're in no position to bargain. We wouldn't want a little accident, would we? ”

Azir's spare hand went up to dark blonde locks of hair, combing it subconsciously in a stressed out manner.

“And goddamn it! How many questions do you ask? Don't your kind just.... Sit around and follow orders?” Azir grumbled, “also, keep moving. We should have a few more minutes in this rather camouflaging terrain,” he waved importantly at the piles of metal, steel and trash, a tint of sarcasm in his voice.

Azir looked around lazily for a second before a yelp escaped his throat and he immediately slammed the mage back into the ground, a hand around her mouth.

As if today wasn't unlucky enough. He was pretty sure he saw something out of the corners of his eyes about thirty feet away. He described it as: something bat-like with very pointy claws. The sight send a small chill down his spine, and he immediately felt a familiar tug of fear.

Syvannis was about to pull out another one of her witty remarks and questions before the hybrid threw her to the ground and covered her mouth. Oh dont tell me he has a thing for me already, the least he can do is ask. She turned a bit to take a look at him, he was terrified which was usual. Didnt he say something about the pack wanting his head? This made her quite curious on why they'd want a hybrid dead. Perhaps he disobeyed an order? Killed an alpha in dishonorable combat? Either way she couldnt ask with his hand covering her mouth so she decided to reach out with her mind to find any kind of electrical outlet and soon enough a conputer of some sort. Cameras. cameras. cameras. where? She was of course trying to get a birds eye view of things while simotaniously devising a plan to get out of this predicament. Hold on, if the pack wants his head what if he knows about any other hybrids they seem to have on their kill list?

Kiraan, for the moment at least, was spend. Leaning into the doorframe and allowing the woman to pass her while listening to Copper's words. Once Mei would leave, the telepath would make a noise that was a mix of an annoyed groan and desperate mean closing her eyes momentarily and keeping her back to the elder mage. If she would just allow her to know what was going on inside her mind, seeing as she could be considerably much more understanding with such an ability, than they wouldn't have to fight and argue. Hell, the archmage knew little about the younger female already and her trying to distance herself wasn't assisting any attempts at trying to bridge the gap that had been forcefully dug between them. Every time she tried, the seemingly wooden structure would be burned to ash... if only it could be built of steel...

Not having the will nor wanting to put the effort into forming the words verbally, she asked the man mentally, knowing he wouldn't be as quick to form a mental barrier. 'What am I doing wrong...?'

Fire Embodiment

Luckily, Kiraan didn't seem to want to obstruct Mei's exit. Maybe the Arch-Mage was feeling the heat Mei was starting to generate, and realized what a bad idea this was. After all, Mei tended to get... destructive when emotions were involved. Hell, there had been several times where Kiraan had suffered singes just because they argued. Usually, though, the older woman seemed to push more. But today, today she just seemed tired. Like she was on the verge of giving up.

Good, Mei thought viciously. Give up. Leave me alone. I don't want you around me. She forced herself to repeat the thought over and over again, trying to make it true. Just as Mei was reaching for the door, however, there was a knock on the other hand. After a pause, she heard the familiar sound of Copper's voice. He was one of the oldest members of The Order, and always seemed to know what was going on. She didn't really talk to him much, though it was more because she specifically avoided it. He was the type to act like a father to everyone, and Mei had had more than enough experience with fathers. She pulled the door open, glaring at Copper.

"Nothin' to interrupt. I was just leaving," she said, coldly. With that, she strode past Copper into the hallway. The heat was still building up, but the halls of the Enclave were mostly metal, and it wouldn't do much damage if she flamed out here. Besides, being away from Kiraan would help her cool down. Not to mention the fact that she was starving... Using her powers always ended up in her needing to eat a lot afterwards.

Location: Greyholm's Abandoned Rail Yard

As Satiel drove down the road as the sun shined brightly on his pick up truck with his "friend" next to him: Tatiana. She and Satiel both met at the same psychology place in Greyholm. At first, Satiel wasn't interested in talking to her but as the days pass and they began seeing each other more often on the streets and even once at the restaurant which she worked at. Over time, he grew to tolerate her as they saw each other and had a bit of more small talk. He even saw her once come over to his workplace to buy some outdoor camera equipment. However one day while he was working in the hunting department, he overheard her talking to herself about going to the abandoned rail yard. Satiel like anyone in this city knows what a horrific place that is with all the rumors about it being haunted with ghosts and monsters. Internal conflict stirred within him, he knows if Tatiana were to go to a place like that alone, she would surely not come back at best and found dead at worst. He approached her and reluctantly offered to give her a ride as well as an escort to keep her safe while down there. While Satiel despised having to go there in the first place, his heart dropped when he heard about the reason why she wanted to go there. She still had hope within her soul, he lost his hope a long time ago but he secretly does not want the same fate to happen to her.

While he wasn't very enthusiastic about coming to this God forsaken place that smelled like Satan's asshole. The only thought that kept him going was the fact that Tatiana's father could get enough support in order to someday wake up from his deathly hour. He approached the place closer and closer until finally they stopped a top a cliff that allowed them to see the entire yard from a bird's eye view.

Satiel immediately puts on his gas mask and tosses Tatiana one as well "Put that on now, unless you want to die from the toxic fumes that this place has." he commanded her in a strict voice. He opens the car door and steps outside as he breathed heavily like Darth Vader. The place smelled awful and he couldn't imagine what abominations could live in this environment. He closes the door and steps behind the pick up truck, opening the trunk cover and carrying out three enormous boxes. He then carries a bag onto his back that is filled with different kinds of items that they'll need for this trip. You never know what might happen in a place like this. Satiel continues to check their supplies as he waits for Tatiana to come out as well.

Charlotte let out a sigh as she trudged around, her body injured with multiple bruises and scrapes. She doesn't know what to do anymore now that her body was almost completely different from before. Her features, senses, everything had changed and she doesn't even know why or how. The only time that it could've possibly happened was when she was knocked out cold, but even then she was unsure if that event happened. Ever since she woke up on a pile of scrap metal her memories of what her life was like before had been fuzzy. But it wasn't as if she was going to need them, she wasn't going to go back for a long time. That or forever considering bodies don't typically change over time.

Clambering over yet another metal track, Charlotte cursed her newfound height. Everything was much more intimidating from a low point of view. Also it was much more difficult to get anywhere now, even more so with the shark tail she dragged behind her. She constantly forgot how to even move it around. Every once in a while Charlotte would accidentally kick the tail while walking and end up tripping over herself. It was how she ended up with the multitude of injuries she had.

Then she heard something, a cry she assumed. Lifting her newly shaped head, hands cupping over her sensitive eyes, Charlotte tried to locate the source of the sound. It was a difficult task now that she had lost all of the humans features she used to have on her face, making everything that much more difficult on land. However her black eyes spotted a blurry blob in the distance, a blob that was making the sound. The shape of the blob looked to be that of a child, which seriously concerned Charlotte. Concerned for why the child was crying and concerned for whether it was a good idea for herself to approach. Or perhaps her eyes were deceiving her, perhaps it wasn't a child after all. Charlotte couldn't trust her senses anymore.

Deciding to take the risk of frightening the child in order to make sure he, or she, was safe, Charlotte began walking as quickly as she could without falling over yet again. As she neared towards the child she began making out the features of some sort of mouse, was it another unfortunate soul? It would be the first person she would see since she had changed.

Creeping up next to the simpering child, the mouse features clearly defined now, Charlotte realised that even the child was larger than herself. Now that she was next to her, perhaps the child wasn't even a child. That and she wasn't too sure what she should do. Should she say hi? Touch her arm? Ask what was wrong? Looking up at the hybrid, Charlotte nervously asked "Hey, uhm, are you alright? Where are your parents?" . Silently she prayed that the child wouldn't run away from herself, knowing that she was completely different from what a normal person should look like.

Her eyes spotted that laying on the floor was what appeared to be some sort of picture. Getting onto all fours, Charlotte began searching on the floor with her hands to get the photo. It sucked not having eyes on the front of her head. After scrabbling around a bit longer her fingers picked up the blurry picture of the family. Putting it up to one eye, Charlotte then also began to feel the same sadness as the child. "Is this a picture important to you ? I can't quite tell." she asked, staring at the photo.

Tatiana Morning

Location: The outskirts of the trainyard.

Despite all of her preparations, both mental and physical, Tatiana knew that exploring a possibly radioactive, highly dangerous ruin was a bad idea. Not only did it sound idiotic, but the air was oppressive. Everything seemed wrong, just ever so slightly off. As the old pickup neared the trainyard, even the sunlight, which before was bright and warm before, seemed to dim. "It isn't too late to turn back." She thought, staring down at the expensive camera sitting in her lap. "I guess we've already come this far though. I might as well go through with it."

She looked to her left, at her stoic and silent chauffeur. He was a real puzzle, that man. She remembered seeing him in the waiting room at Dr. Pollen's office the first day she'd gone, but hadn't really paid him any mind. At her boss' insistence she returned for a few more appointments, and he had been there everytime. After a while, they began to chat while they waited. She learned his name, where he worked, and a few other things about him, but he never told her why he was there. Despite that, however, she possibly told him more than she told the doctor. They began to bump into each other more often after that, but it was the previous weekend that they had decided to come up to the trainyard. Although she knew Satiel worked at the sporting equipment store, she was hoping he would be off on the Sunday she went. She wanted to get some protective equipment for her camera, and ended up voicing her thoughts and plans - as she often did - out loud, and within earshot of the older man. Though obviously reluctant, he offered to drive her up and help with whatever she needed. She told him he didn't need to worry, but he was quite adamant about going with her. In the end, she conceded, and now here they are.

Her thoughts faded away as the truck rolled to a stop, and Satiel tossed her a gas mask. He told her to put it on, then got out of the truck to gather their equipment.

Tatiana stared down at the black, almost reflective glass circles she'd been staring out of for the next few hours. Or, if she was lucky, only for the next few minutes. She grabbed her backpack from between her legs and unzipped it, pulling out a Geiger counter before closing it back up. She pulled the gas mask over her face, stepping out of the truck with a sigh. "Is everything ready?"

Satiel looked at her as she came out with the gas mask and the Geiger counter before turning back to look at the box as he begins to unpack it, revealing a display of different weapons. He slowly begins to grab a handgun from the box, he takes out the cartridge to see how many bullets are in it then pulls back the slide and releases it. Giving that satisfying sound of a *click* to his ears. Satiel puts the gun asides and takes out a switchblade and unravels it revealing a sharp blade that really feels like it could kill you by just looking at it. Sometimes looks can kill. He places the switchblade aside and finally brings out what appears to be a stun gun. He takes aim with it and looks unnerved while doing so. Satiel picks up the switchblade along with the taser gun and hands them to Tatiana.

"Here, I got you some weapons, they aren't toys so don't play around with them." he said as he demonstrated how to use them. "This is a Switchblade, use it only when you need to extract something or stab someone who is trying to kill you." Satiel casually said as he placed it in her hand "Technically these are banned but it doesn't matter." he then shows her the Taser gun which has the words "X26" on the side. He then shows her how to aim and use the gun. "Just aim and pull the trigger...it goes for about a few feet. So be wary of distance when firing." he places the gun in her second hand as he picks up the Glock and puts it in his holster. He then takes out a walkie talkie and hands it to her "Use it when you get lost or if we get separated somehow..." he said while showing his own and pushing the button to signify that they are both on the same channel. Satiel turns his attention to the two boxes.

He unpacks the other boxes and what appears to be inside one of the boxes is a shotgun with some shells neatly placed next to it. The last box has a sniper rifle that he got from his storage deposit that has some .380 rounds.

He takes them both out and inspects them individually while loading them with ammunition. He places the Accuracy International Sniper Rifle on his back leaning on his bag with his Glock 22 on his side. He wields the Remington 870 in his hands and pulls the pump back giving another satisfying *clich* noise to his ears. "Ok...Glock...Remington and International are all a go..." he said inspecting them one more time along with his demolition knife in his inner pocket. "I see you got your Geiger counter...good, I won't have to use my own in this case." he said while aiming down with his Remington and lowering it as he looked back to Tatiana, approaching her very closely "I got all the supplies, food, water, maps, matches, sleeping bags, knives, bombs, etc." he said emotionless in tone. "I've heard rumors that this place is haunted and people have gone missing here." he walks over to see the train yard from a distance before turning around and looking down on her with a strict glare. "So remember to ALWAYS stick close to me no matter what, don't go running off on your own." he fiercely said as Satiel was trying to implant the idea of what a dangerous place this is. "If we manage to get separated somehow and you get into trouble either fight like a man or run like a bitch." he continued "Whatever it is that's down here, I am not going to let it take us." he said while pumping his shotgun once more, empathizing the point. "Any questions?" he asked her.

Satiel seems unnerved and tough like a stone wall to her but the truth is that he's very scared and paranoid at this point and his anxiety is mostly towards the safety of this girl he rarely knows. Yet somehow he is extremely worried and doesn't want her to end up like the rest.

@Clairvoyance

Eluscia was to consumed in her own mental battle to notice the approaching footsteps that could be clearly heard behind, "Don't listen….. Don't listen because they lie!" She suddenly yelled out, her eyes filled to the brim with tears straining to come out as she eventually lowered her hands from her face. Only then did she notice the figure beside her, asking something about the object she'd found, though Eluscia simply stared up at her wide eyed before suddenly throwing herself into hug with the girl, "Mom….." She mumbled softly, her body trembling a little.

It was a few minuets before the girl let go and leaned back, wiping the tears from her eyes and slowly standing up. It was but a moment before her usual crazy look returned to her eyes and her lips curled into a playful smirk, "Oh, look-y here! A newcomer who's lost their way in my big ol' playground it seems~….." She giggled out cheerfully, bending down a little and getting right in the girls face, "Looks kinda fishy if ya' ask me!~" She continued mischievously, "Is she working for the crazy old bat or is she another one of the outsiders?~ Huh, ain't seen a new one in a while now~" She stated in a high pitched mocking voice before leaning back, "Are ya' lost big sis?~ Confused by all this wondrous, wondrous world around us? Many say they are, tryin' ta' run away, sometimes I wonder where they're running too~….." She finished in but a small whisper.

Her gaze fixated on her, eyes blinking at the now slightly clearer image of the girl, "If ya' stay out here they're gonna get you~…. Dem' crazy folks with the magical powers, gonna zap ya' to the land beyond the stars! Right up to the moon they will~ But maybe they'll just make ya' on fire like that funny guy a while back, yeah!~ It'd be fin ta' watch!" She chuckled out, tail whipping around in random directions behind her, clawed hands curling in a little in a rodent-like manner, "If ya' wanna stay out here ya' gotta' know where ta' hide~ like me! Hide away where it's safe, safe is good. Deep down and far away from them or they'll catch ya'! And I don't think you're fast enough big sis, nah' I don't. Don't look it at least~" She added quickly, sniffing the air a bit and glancing around.

It was as if the fit just a few moments ago had never happened, the hug was but a dream and whatever had affected her with the photo never existed….. A completely different person currently stood before the newcomer than the one only a few moment ago that trembled like a lost child….. And just by the look in her eye you could tell she was crazy. "Names Eluscia by da' way~ But you can just call me Ru! Makes it more fun, ya' know?~" She finished with a toothy grin, extending a hand out to the girl.

Copper just gently placed his hand on her shoulder "I have a job for you, it might help you calm down. Wait for me in my lab, but don't mess with anything since I don't want the process to be ruined."

Then he let go and off Mei went, then he turned to the archmage who mentally spoke to him.

"I think you're being too... direct in your approach to Mei, I've seen her type before. The best way is to be subtle about it, never directly state what must be done but instead try making small talk. The easiest way to do this is by working together, give her a job you need help with and talk about what to do, this way she gets comfortable working with you and will be more open to discussion. Follow what I'm saying?"

He spoke back with their mental connection. Then he actually spoke to her as if nothing happened "Now that I have your attention we must speak about our efforts in producing an effective healing agent within our potions. I must say it is going remarkably well. I have also improved upon the stability of our Enclave here by adding a more sturdy material to the foundation. I think we're almost ready for another expansion, to which you must decide what room to place there."

As he spoke about meeting him in his lab, Kiraan pushed herself off of the door frame and nodded, but waited to leave as his mental reply came. She did realize she was being a bit to... abrupt, which was most likely the reason Mei was unwilling to work with such a situation. 'I do...' She gave the hesitant, short response before turning and facing the cloth-shroud man. Almost every time she spoke with him, the same question would linger in the back of her mind, although she had never actually ask him. Why had he declined the position of archmage, leave her to accept? He was no doubt more qualified than herself, so what made him make such a choice? Gah, she would have to find the right time to ask later. "Good, those potions are a necessity considering the harm those hybrids have been dealing to our patrols." What the mage was referring to was the constant attacks on her apprentices and mentors, leaving them barely standing when they returned as most didn't have a combat-ready ability. This caused an idea to enter her mind as he mentioned the prospect of a new addition. "A new training wing and possibly and improved medical bay." She said without a second thought, moving towards the direction his laboratory was hoping Copper would follow. "We need everyone to be able to defend themselves and not just learn how to use their powers effectively."

As they neared the room teaming with both outdated and not yet invented equipment of his own design, Kiraan recalled a project she had ask him to work on albeit he was the only one aware of it. 'Have you managed to isolate the mutated strand of DNA?" To explain, she had been curious to see if it was in fact possible to not only find what had been done to them to have such abilities, but if one could possibly be changed within someone, one added, or even if they could mutate humans themselves, but she had little interest in the latter.

Right before Charlotte was engulfed by the mournful child she raised her pointed snout towards her, wanting desperately to comfort her. Her body stiffened when she was suddenly covered by her. It wasn't long after that did Charlotte relax, returning the hug. If this was what comforted the person, then she didn't want to take it away from her. However it did intimidate her by how much smaller she was than the person, she couldn't see anything but her arms. She sincerely hoped that, by some miracle, she would turn back into a regular human again. Then she would be able to return to her usual life and visit her family once more. The thought of this caused her eyes to well up, cursing herself for coming to the rail yard. It didn't help that the person in front of her called her 'mum' and was hugging her. It took a lot of willpower for her to not break into tears then and there.

Once the person, who she assumed to be human, had let go of her Charlotte and stood up, only then did she realise that the person had legs and feet that weren't humanoid. Getting up herself she craned her neck to get a proper view of the hybrid's face. Charlotte noticed the two large ears that sat atop of the girl's head and mouse tail that moved from side to side. Charlotte muttered "How on earth did I not notice those from before?".She blinked back the tears and grew confused, wondering why the mouse was suddenly cheerful as if they had never met before. Charlotte thought whether it had never happened, whether her mind had also changed from whatever had happened to her.

"Wait, are there others around here? How long has this been going on for?" Charlotte was filled with questions about both this place and the girl. She tilted her head questioningly, closing the eye that was facing the sky. It hurt to look up at the clouds. "What bat? Who are these outsiders?" she felt a pang of annoyance when her questions went unanswered, the girl rambling on. Her mouth opened to ask more questions, but she decided that it would be best if she kept quiet. If she spoke then then she would've probably been cut off yet again. Instead she shut her mouth and listened to the insensate babbling of the hybrid.

At hearing the girl describe people that could use magical powers and set fire to people Charlotte became anxious. Was this true? Or was it simply the odd girl's imagination? She wasn't sure anymore. Now that she had become some freaky shark-human she didn't exactly know what were the limits of that world. Her eyes were mesmerised for a moment by the tail whipping around but they then focused back onto the blurry image of the excitable girl. Charlotte was worried of what else was out there, she doubted that the girl would be bothered if someone or thing were to appear right then. The mouse person could probably easily jump away, herself however... she wasn't too sure.

After the newly introduced Eluscia had finished her introduction, Charlotte was speechless for a while as she attempted to process everything that she just said. Blinking out of her momentary pause, Charlotte whispered "What..?" . She got up on her tip toes and extended her hand outwards but stopped for a second, unsure of whether this was another trap. Ignoring this odd thought, she shook the hand and hoped that she didn't somehow hurt her with her rough skin. Charlotte was just plain dumbfounded by what just happened. "And I'm, uhh, Charlotte. Nice to meet you?" she didn't know whether she should be acting like a human or whatever she was.

"Do you know what I should do now Ru? I want to be a normal human again, do you have any idea how?" she questioned, looking off into the distance. She began to slowly walk down along the train tracks, looking back to see whether Eluscia was following along or not. While she was looking backwards she accidentally swung her tail in front of her feet, forcing her to stumble over the tail. Surprised by her loss of balance, Charlotte's fins flashed blue for a moment. It wasn't particularly bright, but it was bright enough for it to hurt someone's eyes that was too close to her.

Finally she could get out of that damn room, and away from Kiraan's cloying air of concern. Although, it appeared she wasn't lucky enough to escape cleanly. She was paused, for a moment, by Copper's hand on her shoulder, which she roughly shook off. Her temperature was already sky-rocketing, and she didn't need him getting burnt just because she was upset. Still, she stayed long enough to hear the words and nodded slightly. Whatever it was he wanted her for, she was willing to help out. The Order had taken her in and taken care of her, after all. She'd be their guinea pig as many times as they needed her to be.

"I'll stay away from the important stuff," Mei promised, rolling her eyes. If she wasn't even gonna let him touch her, it wasn't like she was going to go sorting through his stuff. Mei understood exactly how dangerous and destructive she could be. After all, demons were meant to cause chaos, weren't they? She was probably just suppressing her true nature by not setting everything on fire. Mei set off towards Copper's lab, having been there several times already. Apparently the fact that she could produce and control incredibly hot flames was useful to some of his experiments, and this wasn't the first time she'd helped out. Afterwards she was always tired, but it was the good kind of tired. The kind that came with hard, productive work. Mei didn't really have many chances to feel productive anymore.

Mei entered the room, glancing around at the familiar work tables and always unfamiliar equipment. Some of it was older than her, and some of it didn't officially exist. It was an odd mix and she didn't really understand what any of it did, but that didn't matter much. She made sure she was standing in an area relatively clear, just in case the heat radiating off her would mess with any of the electronics. Already she was beginning to cool down slightly, being away from Kiraan, but who knew what might cause her to flare back up?

A sudden, stinging pain made itself known in Jess' skull, making her flinch as she closed her eyes, the morbid fusion of hand and wing coming to rub her temples as the bat-hybrid let out a tormented groan.

Whatever it was, it was caused by her senses overloaded with impressions.

An accelerated heartbeat, hushed words, adrenaline, something was hiding, covering, trying to mask itself from watchful eyes and ears.

Whatever it was, it was startled, scared maybe? Confused, and it all sung to Jess through their heartbeats.

Whatever cruel machinations had turned her into a beast were on their edge in this moment, making her own heart pump blood and adrenaline through her veins as Jess hunched over in pain, feeling an itch she had to scratch...

An itch that made itself known through drumming sounds echoing through her skull, the scent drowning out almost any other sense and the thrill of the hunt.

They were cruel in choosing the species whose DNA they had infused in Jess' being.

The Spectral bat...

A territorial hunter, always hungry, always out for trouble, aggressive bastards that hunted anything that might fit into their maws..

Letting go of another pained groan Jess' claw came to rest on Quinn's shoulder, her voice a growly whisper.

"You're in command for now. South. Something stirs. Calling..."

And then, without any warning Jess unfolded her wings, the sound of massive, leathery arms stirring filled the ears of everyone near their Alpha as the sunlight illuminated the vein-covered skin stretching between Jess' wings as in a flash of a shadow Jess jumped off Quinn's back, her powerful legs propelling her into the air as soon enough the bat-torpedo started to hover in thin air, her powerful wings carrying her fast and steady towards the location of the intruders treading on the PACK's hunting grounds.

Her eyes shifted into narrow slits as Jessica could feel the cold wind blow through her hair, the thrill of flight never ceasing to take her mind off the overwhelming sensation she was constantly assaulted by.

Raising her head towards the wind's currents her nostrils filled with the scent of her prey, making her alter her course before with one powerful motion of her wings the Alpha shot down towards the earth, heading straight towards where she felt the presence of four living beings.

Two of which being pressed against each other while the other two were still far off in the distance, less agitated but still very...interesting...

For them the winged shadow of Jess was easily distinguishable, her slender frame hovering in the sky with her massive wings supporting her body in the air like the herald of imminent danger...

"Woah, woah, there isn't going to be some kind of battle out there." She said, scoffing quietly as she eyed the weapons Satiel had brought along. "We might need a knife or something small, sure, but a shotgun? A sniper rifle?" She shook her head. "This place is abandoned. The most we'll probably come across is a homeless guy or some wild animals, and the only dangers here will probably the old structures and possibly hazardous air." Despite her saying this, however, he went on. As he spoke, she couldn't help but raise an eyebrow in disbelief. "Okay, so maybe some campers or hikers got lost in the woods or something. But haunted? Don't tell me you believe in that kind of thing. And let's go back to the equipment checklist: why in the actual holy fuck do you have bombs? That's terrifying..." Maybe it was a bad idea coming out here with a man she knew so little about. He seemed distant yet generally kind in nature, but looks can be deceiving. He had been going to see a psychologist, after all. Who knows what sorts of issues he could have.

Sighing loudly, Tatiana shook her head. "I only plan on being here for a few hours. This place isn't exactly enormous, so I should be able to get what I need by noon or so." She turned away from Satiel, staring down at the Geiger counter and walking towards the top of the hill. According to the trusty instrument, the air was almost perfectly fine, with no radiation in the current area. That could change as they moved around, but why would there be radiation in an abandoned trainyard anyway? She stowed it in her back pocket, pulling the rubber-smelling gas mask off of her face and taking in a breath of air. From where she was, only a small area was visible. The rest was hidden by a line of tall, thick trees. She knelt down, framing up the shot perfectly before snapping a picture. "Are you ready to go?" She yelled back to him, her voice rolling down the hill and echoing among the trees.

Copper nodded as Kiraan began asking about his work, and suggested a Training facility alongside an infirmary which Copper agreed. "The facilities will take quite a bit of time seeing as I have to create more materials using my power but it shall be done. It's such a shame that the Animals have been very aggressive to our patrols, then again we are partly to blame with our.... Aggression towards them. If only I could have one to work with, one that won't try and bite me, or mutilate me, or whatever horrors they come up with. I might be able to study their Dna to give us a better understanding of what happened and how to either improve upon the design or to reduce it back to our primary state of being...."

Kiraan replied back with her mental powers, so useful for communication within seconds but she had full access to his inner workings most of which he obviously blocks off, can't have her probing into his.... Experiences. "Yes, I think I have found the sequence that allows us to have our powers, though I don't necessarily have the equipment to change its structure since I would need things far advanced to do that and this Place we live in.... Just doesn't have the means to get the equipment I need meaning the outside world is our only chance." Copper replied mentally.

He stood in front of his lab and turned to Kiraan "Wait out her for just a second, I gotta give Mei her assignment. So be patient okay?"

With those words he enter his lab. Such a familiar place, and scattered all around in organized fashion, was his inventions, lab equipment, and various specimens he has collected over the years. He even has a bunch of bookshelves filled with books and the knowledge of various things like how to safely extract a baby when the time is right, since such knowledge will be useful later when one of the younger mages decide to commit the act of sexual reproduction. He walked over to Mei "Thank you for helping me! Now I need you to smelt some things for me as I have just gone and ran out of fuel for the intense heat. Now what I want you to do is....... And then carefully pick up the heated metal with this clamper and......... Got all that? This is very important for the creation of new facilities, one of which I will train you to be more effective at using your flames in combat! Now I must talk to Kiraan but when I'm done I'll come and help out as best I can. Also try to smile more often, I think it'll make you feel better! Also don't forget to hydrate yourself either! That's very important! And.... Never mind, I'm worrying too much just make sure you have fun and get the job done! Alright I must be off."

And with that Coppen went to the door to let Kiraan inside but waited until Mei left for the smelter which was close to the lab but wasn't inside it, can't have the equipment be at risk of damage.

For a little while, Mei was just standing in the lab, arms crossed and staring at nothing. Her mind was busy wandering, jumping to topics she normally avoided thinking about. Like her father, and what he was doing right now. He probably didn't even know she'd technically gone missing. Could someone still go missing if there was no one around to report it? If there was no one to miss them? And, honestly, even if her father did know he would probably think it was a fitting punishment for her. He definitely wouldn't care, and no one else even knew her name. After leaving her house, she'd pretty much never used her full name. She wasn't even sure if anyone in The Order actually knew what her last name was but, then again, she had been pretty out of it when they found her up in the rail yard. She may have told them and simply forgotten about it. The point was, she had no connections left to the outside world, and that must've made abducting her all too easy...

Mei glanced up, hearing footsteps approach the door. Two sets of them. Dammit, Kiraan had probably accompanied Copper to the lab. Almost immediately Mei began to scowl and heat up again, crossing her arms and preparing for another session of 'just trust me and tell me all your secrets'. When the door opened, however, only Copper entered and walked towards her. Perhaps Kiraan had gone away? Well, she wasn't being yelled at, so Mei relaxed slightly. She still scowled, however, when Copper bombarded her with instructions and warnings.

"Yeah, I know what I'm doing. Despite what some people might think, I'm not a child," Mei snapped, rolling her eyes. Couldn't anyone in this place just say what they meant without rambling on and on? Both Kiraan and Copper talked too much and cared too much and worried too much. It was frustrating.

"Maybe you can convince her to get off my back," Mei grumbled under her breath, heading for the door. The instructions had been fairly easy, and she just ignored the rest of it. Have fun? Learn how to control her powers? She didn't want to play around with fire. The only reason she was acquiescing was because, at the very least, she could be useful. Mei walked through the door, barely glancing at Kiraan as she passed her, and began to head for the smelter. At least she'd have something to do.

While Satiel was quite adamant about bringing his weapons, he knows that bringing this many guns would definitely get him in trouble along with the girl. He silently gruff at the thought of bringing less weapons. He tosses his Shotgun and Sniper Rifle back onto the truck. Takes off his bags and shakes it upside down immediately dropping about a ton worth of grenades, C4 and knives. He puts the bag back on only taking his Glock and Butterfly Knife with him. "I'm really going to regret this..." Satiel thought.

Once finished with dumping his "dangerous" and "unneeded items". He nods to her and follows Tatiana behind, through the trees with the glock in his hands. He looked at her silently as they continued along the path and while looking around he remembered seeing some of these places on the news as more reports of missing people piled up with the sounds of mourning families and friends made him shiver a bit reminding him of the terrifying chemical warfare tactics used back in Vietnam. While he didn't approve of Tatiana removing her gas mask, the Geiger counter said it was alright but he didn't take any chances. Better safe than sorry. As they continued downwards it only got creepier as the eerie feelings of the abandoned trains did not help with the darkness of the place crawling in and it is morning ironically enough. He could swear that he heard some foot steps approaching them but didn't want to jump to any irrational conclusions.

Kiraan remained silent as the older man entered his laboratory to speak with the younger girl. Her thoughts currently side-tracked, she didn't dwell on the subject but instead thought over the task of getting the resident transmuator more equipment. Yes, they would eventually need to venture back into Greyholm to get supplies but at the moment, she didn't want to risk anything. At this point, a large majority of them have been changed from missing persons to deceased and the off chance someone recognized them... things wouldn't be all that simple. Frowning deeply at the idea, she was oblivious to when Mei exited the room and past by her, too lost within her own mind to notice. It had become a reoccurring problem ever since she woke in the rail yard, her mind having a tendency to suck her a bit too much. Noticing that it was happening, a faint look of annoyance past over her face as she dragged herself back to reality. Giving her head a brief shake, the arch-mage pushed those worries to the side and entered the room, speaking verbally as she knew no one else was currently around. "As much as I would like to continue with the tests we both know how much of a potential problem it could be for The Order as a whole to enter Greyholm at this time." There was a chance that the woman was being much to paranoid and overly cautious, yet she couldn't help but feel that playing it safe was a much better alternative than being regretful later on.

“You're not as stupid as you look so act like it. What do you do when a bat-hybrid descends above you?” Azir questioned the mage sternly, all hints of sarcasm dropped from his face. “You run, and you hope you don't die.”

And with that, Azir looked up at the hovering shadow, his expression not quite showing fear; more frustration actually. Him? Wounded maybe, but he'd probably get away. He always did in the end, as much as it may have seemed like luck.

Azir wasn't stupid, he knew exactly of the consequences. The hybrid knew exactly the feeling of pointy claws from personal experience, and he wasn't too keen to have the same thing happen once again.

Of course, he had to act like a complete idiot and just pretend all of this was a game and not take it way too seriously. In a way, it was a copping mechanism for his breaking nerves. So far, his head was still on his shoulders, so why doubt his strategies at such a time?

“Seems like we've been spotted. Duck and cover. Wait, no. Make that run, scream and duck for cover,” Azir corrected himself, “also, advice. Don't die.”

And with that, he launched himself from the ground, hitting the earth with a small groan and sprang to life, scrambling across the trashed earth with a little too much enthusiasm. The breath was constipated in his throat, and he kept up a random weaving motion, hoping he could stall enough time until he found a good hiding place or a small opening where she couldn't reach him from the air.

It was the best plan so far.

He wouldn't stand a chance if she was raining from above. He had to bring her to ground where she either gave up, or where he stood a better chance of survival. The troubles of being a bug, Azir hissed to himself.

“I knew I shouldn't have stolen that bag of coffee from them,” Azir grumbled.

"Heh" Syvannis got up from where she was arruptly tackled. "Run huh?" She looked up in the sky and saw the mysterious figure. "Interesting indeed" Syvannis took a quick look around trying to find anything that would help her avoid being killed. 'What did he say? Bat hybrid?' Syvannis's smile grew and she started running toward the railway where there would be train locomotives. Not being careful at all with her foot steps as she wanted to attract the attention of the flying thing in the sky. As she got to a locomotive (seeing how she wasn't all that far from one..(I think)) she stretched her consciousness out reaching the rest of them. "Good, most of them have enough power..." staying clear of the windows she waited, like any patient hunter her bait was cast.

Everything was exactly as she had thought it would be: perfect. Old train cars left to rot and rust, tall grass swaying in the wind, unbroken train tracks. The universe was most definitely on her side today, and the sunlight - for once - was aiding her instead of being a hindrance. As she and Satiel trekked deeper into the seemingly empty old compound, Tatiana took picture after picture. She would make him stop every few minutes and give her time to assess her surroundings and locate and other potential places to capture on camera.

"This place is pretty interesting, I think." Tati said, glancing back at the large man as they walked along the tracks. "I wonder why it really got shut down. My guess would be bankruptcy or something like that." She'd taken quite a few pictures already. She had two extra memory disks just in case, plus a few extra batteries, but didn't figure she'd need them. She'd gotten enough to where she wasn't quite as worried, and was trying to make conversation with the stoic giant. He didn't talk much, but when he did, he certainly had something worth saying.

Whilst waiting for a reply from Copper, something was tugging on then back of her mind it was barely noticeable at first but soon grew to an extremely annoying extent rather quickly. Kiraan's face was soon twisted into a look of vile displeasure as she closed her eyes and allowed her mind to examine the surrounding area. Ignoring the many mages within The Enclave and forcing her way through the thick layer of earth and other such materials until she could just barely reach outside. It was a straining task, the thoughts of those without a mental barrier nearby beginning to intrude with faint whispers... it wouldn't be long before it became too much to handle. Quickly searching the rail yard as far as she could reach, the woman soon became aware of a foreign mental presence nearby. Honing in on whoever it belonged to, she managed to tell they were unconscious by the lack of coherent thought. But due to the distance, she couldn't do much more than speak them in an attempts to wake them knowing the damn bastard had struck again. 'Hello? How are you feeling?' It wasn't the first time she had done this so she expected a few reactions from thinking they were falling insane to she being their conscious. Not wanting to break the fragile connection she currently held, she muttered to the man in front of her "New apprentice..." Before focusing once more.
