The bottle was rather large, that she would admit. Yet it was, unfortunately, half empty. There was no point in being optimistic about the situation as the alcohol would eventually run out, leaving her without anything to sooth her extremely frayed nerves. Kiraan was now convinced that running an literally and metaphorically underground order of mages in a world were magic was proven not to exist was undoubtedly easier than raising a child or playing mother. She wondered often if it would be different if it were her own, but something told it that nothing would change. Narrowing her eyes, the woman would sit up and grab it by the neck taking one last sip before reluctantly throwing on the cap on and returning it to an open desk drawer, it slamming it shut. The wooden surface shuttering due to the force. While the liquor was doing something, Kiraan knew she wasn't buzzed enough for it to be noticeable as learning to hold her own when it came to drinking was most likely in the job description but one would still be able to smell it if they tried hard enough.

To explain, her and the woman she now considered to be her daughter, Meili, had just got onto one of the more heated fights they had experienced. Hell, her clothing and hair if one were to look close enough were visibly singed. It all had began when she asked her to begin training a bit more because she had been slacking off as of late then escalated as quick as a fire that had been doused in gasoline with the younger mage within her room and the arch-mage within her office considering how to approach the situation.

It was more of an unspoken relationship than one that had been decided upon in advance. When The Order had found her in the rail yard after the accursed scientist had finished with her, the woman could help but feel a strong sense of pity. Going out of her way to personally work with her unlike how the mentors usually advised the new apprentices. After being that way for a considerable amount of time, it stuck and due to her position, no one questioned it. But it was times like this that made such a thing oh-so difficult. Kiraan... regretted what she had said, not thinking the words 'Because I am your mother' had escaped her lips, which Meili almost immediately took offense to considering how she had lost her mother at a young age.

The mage was soon pulled out of her thoughts as a knock sounded on her wooden door. Taking a deep breath and sitting up she cleared her throat before giving an audible "Come in." Slowly entering was a mage by the name of  Tarrin, the much older man passing her a somewhat sympathetic look. "You need to go talk to her." He said with the woman responding with a huff, casting her eyes away from his. "I'm quite aware of that..." "This isn't the first time Kiraan. She'll come around like she always does." The younger woman didn't respond, not all that sure she wanted to fill herself with that much hope.

After a few more minutes, she would stand and silently leave the room, moving slowly through the hallway of the underground building big enough to be considered a fortress. The first mages had needed a place to stay, and not wanting to have to pay for something in within Greyholm nor live within the same disgusting train cars as the hybrids so they had used their abilities to make an underground sanctuary known as the Enclave. Kiraan personally found nothing wrong with the hybrids although she did prefer sleeping within a heated and furnished building as opposed to the outdoors.

It didn't take long for her to arrive in front of Meili's room, no sounds escaping from behind the solid wooden door. Subconsciously holding a breath, she gave a gentle, delicate knock. Hoping that his encounter wouldn't end in another screaming match.

Rust...

That was the color of this world, decay ever present, gnawing at once strong metal and corroding the very fundament of the railroad world outside the city. Abandoned and left to rot, just like most of the pack had felt when they had awoken from their fever dreams. Thrown into the deserted landscape filled with trains, moss-covered buildings and the remnants of what was promised to be the dawn of a new age for the city.

Only to become another failed project thrown aside and left to the elements, leaving vermin to nest in the cracks of the walls and inside the forgotten trains...

Drip....

The noise...

Drip...

The echo of spoiled water dripping into a puddle...

Drip...

So very irritating...

Drip...

She could see it behind her closed eyelids, her eyeballs shifting agitated, darting from one corner to the other as they subconsciously tried to pin down the origin of the water's echo...

Drip...

Ears twitched.

Long and slender, formed just like the creature they were engineered from, ending in pointy tips as they shifted on her head, tilted towards where the sound came from...

Drip...

Thin lips formed a grimace as razor sharp teeth were bared, the corners of her lips stretching over the cage of pearly white teeth that kept her tongue in check as the strong muscle escaped from its prison and licked over her dry lips.

Drip...

With a low growl eyes lazily opened, taking a good look around her surroundings, finding herself once again in the place she called "home". Her Lair-like housing.

Just another rusted Railroad car, slowly corroding hidden away in a collapsed tunnel, the leaking tubes filled with spoiled tap water making droplets of vile liquids drum unto the cart's roof, leaving small puddles in their wake as the faintest sound of dripping water was enough to rip Jess out of her dreams.

What remained of her human hands slowly approached her face, rubbing away the sleep with the back of her claws as her grey eyes widened, only now realizing that she had once again slept upside down, her clawed feet supporting her tall frame as she hung from the car's roof, dangling like a leaf in the wind as her powerful wings were wrapped around her lanky frame, keeping her warm in the absence of any radiator or fireplace.

Letting go of a drawn out yawn, resulting in teeth being bared, Jess managed to expertly drop herself from the ceiling, landing on all fours as her claws skittered across the metal floor, causing it to screech its metal scream and making the bat-like creature groan as the sonic sound filled her head, echoing inside her skull and making her violently shake her head.

The faintest sounds, the most subtle smells and even the dimmest light had become problems in the wake of her transformation, shaping up to become a hell of overstimulation as Jess had struggled adapting to her superior senses, often causing her more harm than good when trying to operate during the day, and even making the most simple things like sleeping almost impossible.

But the worst thing had to be the loss of hands.

Especially for someone whose entire life had revolved around having fingers to go after their craft.

Only then did Jess realize she had been staring at her beast-like claws, making the Alpha grit her teeth as she raised her body from the floor, tilting her head to the side as she rubbed the nape of her long neck.

Not even sleep seemed to be granted to her, making the day even longer than it had to be...

Meili Jin

Fire Embodiment

Meili Jin was sitting in the corner of her room, staring straight ahead. Undoubtedly the bed would be more comfortable, but when she had first slammed the door behind her, she had been too hot to risk it. Literally. Mei didn't want to deal with her bed going up in flames. It was a pain in the ass, and would just give Kiraan another excuse to lecture her. Mei had had more than enough of Kiraan's lectures. There was always something, always some way in which she was failing the Arch-Mage. Mei wasn't working hard enough, or she was isolating herself too much, or she wasn't respectful enough, or the others were complaining about her attitude. It was always something. Why wouldn't it be? Mei was well aware of her own flaws. She knew she wasn't good with people, and that the other members of the Order didn't like her very much. After all, every time she talked to them, she was sarcastic and insulting. Why should they like her? And it wasn't like she was trying very hard to control her powers. She had already been upgraded from apprentice. So what if her emotions still controlled her temperature? Did it really matter?

Of course it mattered. The Order had taken care of her when she was weak, scared, and alone. Not to mention burning everything in sight. If Kiraan hadn't helped her, she would still be a shivering wreck up on the surface of the rail yard. Honestly, Mei couldn't help but wonder why they still kept her around here. It seemed like every time she spoke with Kiraan, they began to yell. How many times could one disrespect the Arch-Mage before getting kicked out? If Mei kept it up, she was more than likely going to find out. But she couldn't help it. Mei didn't want to work on her powers. They marked her as different, as broken, as the demon her father always told her she was. And as for dealing with other people... Mei had learnt her lesson about putting her faith and her heart in the hands of others. But Kiraan kept pushing her, seeming to think that Mei could be better than all this.

And that was what made Mei so angry. It was what made her lose her temper, every time. Kiraan cared and it was awful. All Mei was going to do was let her down, and then she would be responsible for the sadness Kiraan felt. Mei didn't want to be responsible for that, she didn't want Kiraan to care. And she especially didn't want Kiraan to care like a mother cared. Mei had had a mother, a good one, from what little she could recall, and Mei had been nothing but a disappointment to her, even after her mother's death. What would be different with Kiraan? Already Mei was a screw up, and Kiraan didn't even know that she liked girls.

Mei's head snapped up at the sound of a knock on her door. For a moment, she hesitated, wondering who was coming to tell her to stop sulking. Slowly, she lifted herself to her feet and moved to open the door. Standing there, on the other side of it, was Kiraan. And then Mei was angry again. Why was Kiraan here? Why had she come to find Mei, instead of just dismissing her? Why did she seem to matter so much to the Arch-Mage?

"What? What could I possibly be doing wrong in here?" Mei snapped, before she could stop herself.

As the door opened and Meili snapped at her, Kiraan looked as if she was going to speak but fell short of any words she could've used. It was at times like this she desperately wished to go inside of her mind to see what was going on within her thoughts but refrained. She knew that she wouldn't take kindly to such a thing at all and most likely was already prepared to block access. Considering her words for a moment, she slowly began. Softly as if addressing a child much younger. "Meili... that's not the reason I'm here-" Her words were slightly taught as she dragged them out of a constricted throat. "And...you're not doing anything wrong...." Her voice was level, tone almost becoming pleading as she continued. "Can we please talk for once? Without...yelling and screaming at once another..." She trailed off, unsure how to continue. To her it was clear that something was bothering the other woman terribly, if only she would open up...

At this point she couldn't help herself. Kiraan using her power slightly as to brush her consciousnesses up against hers. It wasn't forceful but the exact opposite as if asking to be let in.

Fire Embodiment

Mei could see the way her words affected Kiraan. The way the older woman opened her mouth as if to speak, but didn't have any words to say. Was she finally giving up on Mei? Could she relax, knowing that no one was expecting anything of her? Why did Kiraan have to expect things from her in the first place? Why couldn't she simply give up, like she had every right to do? It was like watching someone repeatedly throw themselves into a fire for no reason whatsoever, like they didn't understand that all they would get were scars and pain. Mei knew intimately how much pain fire could cause. She could still see the singes on Kiraan's outfits, and even her hair. Quickly, Mei turned away, not wanting to face the results of her own inability to control herself. The heat was beginning to build up again, licking up her spine and building in her palms. Mei rubbed her hands against her pants, biting her lip hard. This always happened when she was feeling too much. The fire would get all excited and start to sneak out from beneath her skin, eating up all the energy in her body. Twice in one day... She was going to have to go find some food after this.

"Mei," she said, glaring at the far wall. "I've told you to call me Mei." She hadn't gone by Meili since she'd left her father's house. It carried a bittersweet note every time she heard it. Mostly, she remembered her father screaming at her, but there was also the occasional memory of her mother... Whispering her name to her, lovingly...

"What do we need to talk about, anyway?" Mei asked, glancing over her shoulder at Kiraan. "You want me to do better. I get it." She shrugged and looked back at the wall, crossing her arms in front of her. This was the kind of conversation she was always desperate to avoid. Kiraan seemed so soft, so ready to reach out, and Mei just wanted to tell her to stop, that she wasn't worth it.

Suddenly, she felt something brush against her mind, a foreign presence, and she jumped. Spinning around, Mei threw up the mental walls she had learned to build, glaring at Kiraan.

"I thought you said you wanted to talk," she snapped. Mei took a step back, distancing herself from Kiraan, as if that would stop the other woman from reaching for her mind. There were too many secrets in there, too many things that Mei was ashamed of. Too many reasons for Kiraan to stop caring completely. Mei would never let her inside of her mind.

Quinn-Tired Horseh

Peace, quiet, tranquility. All of these words could be used to describe Quinn's sleep. The lumbering beast known as Quinn laid on an old cot with a corner missing and a few mysterious stains on it. He had found it while trying to find a suitable home here with the pack. It wasn't the most comfortable thing in the world, but it was better than sleeping on the metal floor of the car. Yep, just a nice and peaceful sleep.

Well, that was until the sound of nails on a chalkboard filled the horseman's ears. He snapped wide awake and looked around, ears perked up and eyes wide. While his ears weren't as sensitive as some of the others, Quinn could still pick up on things every now and again if he really focused. However, that stupid noise rung out from outside. Already knowing where that noise came from, Quinn set two hooves on the ground and used them to hoist the rest of his massive body up. Quinn remembered when he could barely even stand, it was hell on earth. He'd fall flat on his face over and over again. At least now, Quinn could walk and gallop with the rest of them. Letting out a short yawn before walking over to the door and staring at a small clock he found. It had a massive crack down the center of it, but it still worked. Staring at the thing, Quinn could tell that it was too early too be dealing with this. But then again, "too early" for Quinn could be "too late" for someone else.

Walking out the back exit of the car, Quinn looked over to the all too familiar car of his only higher up: the Alpha herself. Letting out a short sigh, Quinn lightly tapped on the door with his massive fist. He knew that Jess could hear it with her highly sensitive ears, so why bother knocking it down? "Is the Alpha ready to serve her pack today, or should I take over for a bit while you try to catch some extra shut eye." Quinn finally called out, jokingly of course.

For Quinn, today was just another day in the life.

As Mei spun around and forced her out, she hadn't been prepared for such a blow. Wincing slightly as she blinked a few times, Kiraan let out a slow breath. The way she was standing, holding herself, she was trying not to let it get out of control again. Trying to defuse the situation least something get start aflame, she tried again, her tone wavering slightly. "I do... you're already doing better than you have been..." Letting the words fade, she thought quickly and continued every to gently, taking a small step into the doorway. "I can tell something is bothering you. Please-" The older woman's tone became pleading once more with hints of desperation found floating about. "-I want to care for you I just can't understand why you won't let me." Now she finally felt as if she could let loose what she wanted to without risk of raising her voice. "I know I'll never replace anyone else you had in your previous life... and I'll never try to. You're doing all that you can and I can't ask for anymore... just please let me..." It was here where she faltered. She wanted to help her, but that would give the impression something was wrong. The mage wanted to be let in, but what if it came off as intrusive? Clearly torn as it shown on her face, she left the sentence unfinished, not all that sure how to continue.

Syvannis was walking about minding her own busniess until a sudden hybrid attacked her and pinned her to the ground. she new she shouldve taken a right. Now on the ground with not much to do she decided to strike a conversation with uh, it. "is this how you treat every girl you meet?" Her smile concealing much emotion, the only real emotion she had right now was anger, at the hybrid. Her eyes analyzed what they could, they were near a place that could probably make a lot of noise... "Look, the Order is chasing after me and we need to get out of here now." she whispered to him. It was a complete lie of course but she had a plan for it.  Syvannis had her consciousness spread out to every electronic output there is then focused them to where she had come from.

She commanded them to start making noise whether it was through minor overload or moving something they made a quiet rumbling sound that was growing louder and louder. "Look i don't care if you are a hybrid or not but the order will kill us both."

Azir Narset

Azir's grip on the mage tightened, as his body buzzed with anxiety. There were sounds. Really bad sounds that irritated him and confused him.

He didn't like it one bit. It made his senses stand on end and it was starting to make him feel panicky. What if she wasn't lying? What if, The Order was after her?

If he kept her pinned down and what she said was true, then his ignorance could get both of them killed.

Mostly him of course.

“Stand up,”Azir growled, not keeping his eyes off of the mage. He didn't know what power she concealed, and he was in no hurry to have them tested on his body, “your back towards me.”

The blonde-haired and blue-eyed man stood up slowly and his grip loosened slowly; cautiously, laced with suspicion and hesitance. Azir blinked. He hadn't heard as much as a sound or a unfamiliar movement yet. Perhaps they either still had time, or the mage was lying.

Either could be true, but he didn't need to put his life at risk for such a suspicion.

“Now move, forwards,” Azir commanded, “and don't try anything with me.”

Azir bent down quickly and seized up a piece of rubbish. He took the bar of metal between his hands, and tapped his fingers across it.

“You seem smart enough. Do not try and bite the hand that wields the weapon,” Azir warned, "now get moving."

Fire Embodiment

It was a bad idea to keep facing Kiraan. If she kept looking at the Arch-Mage, she could see the pain she had caused, simply by mentally shutting her out. If Kiraan would just stop trying to get close to her, she wouldn't get hurt so much. But even with this flagrant denial, Kiraan still tried to speak gently. Even though Mei could see the hurt and anger. It was ridiculous. Mei knew she was being cold and stand-offish. It was how she acted from the very first day, so why did Kiraan keep trying? It was like she didn't know when to give up. As Kiraan took a step into the room, Mei took another step back, hunching her shoulders. It wasn't exactly a huge room, so there wasn't much distance between the two of them, but Mei knew that if they kept talking like this, things were going to get very heated, very fast. And Kiraan just kept talking, kept caring.

"Just stop. I don't need you to care for me, I don't need you to do anything else for me." The Order had already brought her in, taken care of her, allowed her to stay. Already they had given too much to a demon, a monster, and Mei had done nothing in return but bring pain. That was what she did. She was a burden, a curse, to anyone and everyone around her. Mei honestly couldn't understand why that wasn't obvious to everyone else. She could literally turn into a towering pillar of flame, the kind of powers given to demons and damned creatures.

"I didn't have anyone in my previous life, and I don't need anyone in this one, okay?" Mei replied, turning away again so she couldn't see the effect her words had on Kiraan. Already, she could feel her skin beginning to crackle, and the heat building up behind her eyes. Soon, it would be burning through the rest of her, and she would hurt someone she cared about. Again.

Her words stung giving Kiraan half a mind to turn and leave as Mei continued to back away from her. But she simply... couldn't. It was akin to seeing a hurt animal on the side of a deserted road, except this animal was a young woman and the road was, as cliche as it sounded, the older female's life. Heat began to slowly radiate off the mage before her, yet even as she knew what was to come, still she pressed. Her numbing mind unable to rationalize her actions nor words as she did. "Maybe that can change..." she begged, not resorting to the screaming that usually occurred between them. "Your old life means nothing now.... and, bloody hell, despite how damnable our existence may seem, it's a chance to start over wether we like it or not." Her mind momentarily wandered to young apprentices who would cling to what they had before, often times trying to return home to their parents until they shuffled back with raw eyes and tear-stained faces, knowing that there was little that could be salvaged from such a life.

Keeping her gaze focused solely on the back of Meili's head, Kiraan finished with a rather true albeit quiet statement. "You can keep pushing me away all you like... but I'm still going to try again. If you've never had someone in your life, why not experience what that feels like?

Fire Embodiment

Mei knew her skin was beginning to burn, and if Kiraan tried to touch her, it would definitely leave a mark. Not quite third-degree just yet, but the longer this conversation went on, the closer she was to that possibility. That was how it worked, after all. The longer Mei was around people, the more likely she was to hurt them. It made sense, in a sick and twisted sort of way. After all, she herself had been turned by bad influences, hadn't she? That was what her father had always said. That it was because of the people she spent time with that she was damned for all time. If she wasn't careful, she could do the same thing to Kiraan.

"I already had my chance to start over, and I ended up here," Mei said, still staring at the wall and trying not to let the first flames crackle into existence. "Which seems to be a fairly clear message on how damnable I am." Mei had left her life behind before, when she had left her father's house, and it had ended in disaster. She had ended up in a unique kind of hell, and been turned into the monster he'd always said she was. When she had first come here, she had been an apprentice, and she remembered the other young ones trying to run away, to return home to their parents. Mei had never tried that. She had nowhere to go, after all. And she would only hurt people if she attempted to return to the outside world.

"We both know what happens when you try. So how about we don't set my room on fire?"

Syvannis did as what she was told by the uh, half something, Hybrid! yes hybrid better to call them that rather than guess. She was clutching where he had kneed her and walked calmly. "i wasn't intending to try anything." Indeed she wasn't planning on attacking or escaping this fellow who seemed tamer than the tamest of the hybrids in the pack, which was an achievement all on its own. She was curious on what this hybri- Man, had to offer. Looking back at him with analytical eyes she surveyed him from the head down, he seemed human enough, pretty scrawny too, she then wondered how someone like him got the drop on her. "say, most from the pack would kill someone like me already. why aren't you?" She then caused a abnormally loud *bang* at the end of her sentence, stopping all sounds. The man seemed jittery and twitchy, like he was afraid so its safe to say he believed her. She herself wasn't at all afraid by him just curious, and devising plans on how to deal with him, luckily he didn't seem that hard to deal with at all.

Hearing the familiar sound of Quinn's voice Jess ran a clawed hand through her messy hair, brushing it all back in an attempt to look somewhat presentable.

Due to her warped form even her choice of clothing had to change, leaving her unable to wear anything with long sleeves as it'd inhibit her wings to extent.

Tight fitting tank tops or turtlenecks she had torn the sleeves off were the newest trend, and one she did dislike due to the fact that even with her wings wrapped around her she was still mostly cold, especially during the colder seasons.

Her clawed feet dragged over the rusty metal floor as Jess made her way to the door, letting out an annoyed sigh as with a loud screech the door hinges shifted, allowing the sun's faint light to fall upon Jess' lanky, obviously sleep deprived frame.

Squinting her eyes the dark circles underneath them became even more obvious as the bat hybrid looked at Quinn, puckering her nose as her eyes tried to adjust to the light, her otherwise almond-shaped pupils shifting into thin slits as her wings rested against the doorframe, her other claw adjusting her shirt which was a few sizes too small and clung to her slender frame like a second skin.

"I really doubt I'll be able to get any resemblance of sleep today, Quinn.." Jess scoffed, tilting one of her ears back as the other perked up, giving her a rather scruffy look doing so, not exactly what you'd expect an Alpha to look like. But as so often looks could be deceiving, as was the case with Jess, who despite her inherent shortcomings was truly a force to be reckoned with.

"Doesn't mean I couldn't use some help though, it's not like you're my second in command for nothing." Jess remarked, a very faint smile adorning her lips, or maybe it was just her grimacing at the light while her eyes started to soften into rounder shapes.

"Anything I should know about?" Jess finally spoke, her long, skeletal wings coming to scoop her jacket off a creaky desk, dragging the leather vest over as she struggled to fit her wings through the armholes, cussing as her claws got stuck before finally managing to put on the jacket.

"Any news on the Mages' or any sightings of newcomers?"

Finally having adjusted to the daylight Jess emerged from the dark confinements of her rail car, her tall frame coming to peek out of her lair and stepping into the light beside Quinn as a long yawn escaped her throat, her jaws unhinging and revealing her razor sharp teeth as she stretched her muscles, her wings extending in all their glory before folding back into the more practical state of resting against her arm.

Still flexing her sore muscles Jess glanced over to Quinn, raising an eyebrow.

"You know what, some dinner might be good first, or breakfast...whatever..."

Her ears were almost deaf to the oddly calm words directed towards her. How damnable she was? Was she referring to herself as a whole or her power? Unsure and not wanting to misunderstand, Kiraan wanted to continue but doubts began to continuously flood her mind. Why was she doing wrong? Is there any point in trying? Was it a hopeless cause? The woman's face considerably as her eyes examined Mei, attempting to find any sort of tell that would allow her to continue but there wasn't but a cool distance contradicting the now fierce heat that was pouring off of the embodiment of fire. "Anything in this room can be replaced." She responded. "If it burns, it burns. Set it all alight and render it to smoldering ash." It was clear she was ignoring the fact that she was within the room. What she was suggesting... she hadn't thought through before until now. She was having trouble controlling her ability because she had never fully used it. If Mei were to burn herself out, rid herself of all the built up energy, maybe she would have an easier time controlling it.

Aggaroth had been awake, almost guarding the railcars of the Pack. He couldn't really sleep, getting used to both his body, senses, and memories. It bothered him that he couldn't remember what had happened, since he'd much prefer to know. Even if it permanently messed with him, he'd rather have a clue as to what happened, other than the fact he was turned into a hybrid.  Settled on top of a car, one he recognised as his Alpha's, his tail swayed. It was kinda cold up on top of the car, but it gave a good view of their surroundings, and Aggaroth knew that from here he'd definitely hear if he was needed. Not that his sensitive ears wouldn't pick his own name up if he was called.

He peered over the edge as he watched Quinn approach the car below Aggaroth's body. It seemed the Second in Command was going to try and rouse their leader, which to Aggaroth seemed like a rather dangerous job. After all, the Tasmanian Tiger hybrid would much rather allow Quinn to do it than Aggaroth himself. Quinn was less likely to be torn to shreds, or at least that's what the hunter thought. His ears twisted upon the top of his head, picking up the sounds of Jess walking below him. He didn't really listen to what they were saying, deciding it was none of his business really. Instead he peered around from his perch, sighing softly.

The winged man was still perched on top of his rail car. He hadn't moved even when he saw something dart through the dried grass. He liked looking at the stars during the nighttime but even they got boring. His joints still hurt sometimes from whatever had happened that fated night. Of course they hurt though. They weren't his, he didn't grow them himself. Someone made him like this, like some kind of Dr. Frankenstein. Sure, he enjoyed flying. he felt invincible and wild and free. Then he thought about his family, or what was left. Were his parents sad that they lost not only their daughter but their little boy? He felt more somber than he used to. He didn't show this side to the others, but for good reason. Showing weakness wasn't the best thing to do. Nobody really cared about each other.

Evan had stayed there all night due to his nocturnal instincts, and when the sun painted the treetops, he was quite tired. However, he still wasn't going to sleep. He needed to stay up all day too so he could get his sleeping schedule to normal, if that even worked. He saw some action going on below, but he didn't really feel like going down just yet, but he was getting hungry. Evan sighed and leaped off of the top of the rail car, his wings opening and he caught a small breeze before heading towards the alpha who had just exited her rail car.

"Goodmorning." He said as cheerfully as he could. He needed a bunch of caffeine if he was going to survive the day. He tucked his wings back and examined the two. He was actually more threatened by the second-in-command than the alpha, but he would never say that out loud.

"Are we going to hunt or something?" He asked, still not really clear on if they stole food or actually hunted animals.

Fire Embodiment

For a few moments, Kiraan was silent. Had Mei finally gotten through to her? Was she going to give up? The thought should have been relief, but it hurt... It hurt so much. Mei didn't want to be completely alone, it was just safer that way. But Kiraan had forced herself into Mei's world and now she cared, and it sucked. This was why Mei had always avoided people beforehand. That, and the fact that her anger and bitterness drove others away anyway. But Kiraan had repeatedly ignored that and tried to take care of her.

"What? I'm not gonna burn this room!" Mei snapped, whirling around again. The heat was building and building, and smoke was beginning to leak from the edges of her clothing. If she stayed in here... Well, she couldn't stay in here. Mei moved forward, trying to move past Kiraan and into the hallway outside of the room.

"Listen, can we have this stupid heart-to-heart or whatever later? I don't see why the hell you wanna talk about this, anyway," Mei commented, biting her lip hard. Sometimes pain would help her calm down, help reduce the heat, but she doubted it would work very well this time. Kiraan had a way of getting her all riled up.

Quinn-Normal Horseh

Quinn waited at the door for the Alpha to make her grand appearance. As the door creaked open, and the Alpha herself stepped out, Quinn could easily tell that today wasn't one of her finest days. She looked like a mess, not to mention sleep-deprived. Hearing her say that sleep wouldn't be a thing today, Quinn offered a small smile of reassurance as he said,"Maybe tonight will be different? I'm sure we'll figure something out."

When it came time for the usual report, Quinn simply shrugged and responded,"Nothing new to report, hunters are pulling in a slightly bigger haul. As for mages and newcomers, I didn't find any yesterday. I'll make sure to keep an eye out, as usual."

Watching the Alpha do her dramatic stretches and show off her fangs and whatnot, Quinn simply let out a small yawn of his own while one of his hooves mindlessly pawed at the ground in boredom. When Jess finally mentioned getting some breakfast, Quinn's ears perked up as the smile returned to his face. "That's what I've been waiting to hear." He responded. Looking over to Jess, Quinn suddenly let out a sigh as his ears flattened out slightly before he decided to ask,"You actually planning on walking today, or are you gonna hitch another ride on my back?"

Before Jess had the chance to answer though, a cheerful bird-man came swooping by. "Chipper today, aren't we? What's got you in high spirits?" Quinn asked the owl hybrid. Normally, he wouldn't see that hybrid too often seeing as his job was to scout out areas, and seeing as he was nocturnal. He'd ask him about his findings later. For now though, Quinn just wanted to get some food in his belly. What he wouldn't give for some sausage and hash-browns. Those days were behind them now. Nowadays, they'd eat whatever the hunters good get their claws or other body parts on.

@Vampunk @WolfOfProphecys @Chrysalism

"Hmm..If you say so. I'm not quite as optimistic as you are." Jess remarked with a click of her tongue, a gesture she had acquired once her body had started to show the usual bat-like attributes.

"Huh, something more useful this time? We're running short on actual coffee, maybe we need to increase the perimeter in which we do 'business'." The Alpha suggested. For the rather extensive abandoned railroad cemetery offered enough small critters and even other natural resources to get by but everything their human selves had grown up with had to be acquired by other means. Was it by raiding hikers, staling from campers or other means. A bit of luxury to remind them of the lives they used to have.

"Maybe I'll see if I can snag us something bigger tonight. About time I get a better look at the southern formations, I hear the Order's been having some business down there, might be worth investigating."

Talking, strategizing, as long as she could keep her tongue busy there wasn't a lot of things to really tick her off, making for a great way to actually keep her in comparably high spirits.

"Eh...I might pass..." Jess replied to Quinn's offer only for her to let go of an annoyed sigh, her hand coming to rub her sides as she felt some of her muscles being sore from hanging upside down. "Scratch that, I won't take any chances this time, we both know last time when I was incapacitated by overworking myself, huh?" The bat hybrid remarked with a raised eyebrow before turning her attention to the arriving Owl Hybrid, simply nodding in his direction as she exchanged glances with Evan.

"Aren't you just cheerful, what happened? Found a new spot to nest or something?" Jess remarked, her lips curling into a faint smile as she rubbed the nape of her neck.

"I'd rather see that excitement turn into results, it might be early but this is the best time to scout for something to eat, maybe there are some new critters nesting in the grassland? Or maybe some careless Order member, as long as we get something to fill a few hungry bellies we're golden, just don't fly too high or we'll raise too much suspicion." Jess remarked as she flexed her slender arms, her leathery wings fluttering as her eyes wandered over Evan's human hands and avian wings.

She would never say it out loud but she was definitely envious of the Hybrid's own mutations, still being able to use what brought humans to the top of the foodchain without giving up anything for it, yet there she was, stuck with wings and claws instead of hands.

Softly shaking her head as her ears perked up Jess' eyes wandered over the rather wide plain of their territory, squinting her eyes as she tried to scout for any living being making their way through the unkempt grasslands.

"Ugh, enough standing around, I need to get into motion or I might just remember just how much sleep I actually got today..."

Aggaroth seemed content to not be found for the moment, listening in to the others conversation about food. His own stomach gave a pitiful rumble at the thought. He was good at sniffing out food and prey, and was rather fast when it came to catching it too. The only problem was, Aggaroth was more than prepared to go across boundaries to get something worthwhile. After all, if he wasn't caught then it wasn't a problem. And, as a bonus, he'd bring food back that would otherwise have gone to someone else. Absently he wondered if the Mages hunted as well, or if they had found a better way of finding food.

Still, at the mention of moving onto doing something, he dropped down from the roof behind Jess. Deciding it probably wasn't a good idea to do so without her knowing who it was, he slipped around the others so he could be seen. He didn't speak for a moment, then decided to just stand there for a moment, "Good morning" He greeted, less cheerfully than Evan, but seeming content none the less.

As Copper walked to Meili's room, he only sighed to himself. He understood why Kiraan tries to get Mei to open up as he has the same feelings, but being persistent like this won't make the situation any better. You gotta ease your way there, show her that she has friends and they truly care about her, show her that your not giving her pity but love. Maybe some good old work will help both of them? Whatever the case that is not the reason he is coming over, he needs to speak with the Archmage but afterwards he'll have to deal with Meili since her temper can cause damage.

He got to the room and it was quiet maybe the argument was over? Did they already leave? It is hard to say so Copper knocked twice on the door and spoke with a Heavy Russian accent "Sorry to disturb but I must speak with the Archmage Meili, as well as you if you don't mind of course." He wasn't demanding, he was being polite as he always is. He must defuse the situation that he figured developed while they were alone. He will talk with Kiraan first get the necessary things done and then deal with Meili afterwards, that way he can help both out with their frustrations of getting to know each other, well Kiraan's frustration anyway.

Quinn-Hungry Horseh

Quinn rolled his eyes as Jess declined his offer at first, but then changed her mind a few moments afterwards. "I thought you said you 'might pass'. I don't blame you though, if someone were to offer me a ride everywhere, I'd take it up in a heartbeat. Then again, I can't really get rides anymore." He said while rubbing the nape of his neck while chuckling slightly towards the end.

Remaining silent as Jess talked with the owl hybrid, Quinn simply pawed at the ground once again, letting out a short yawn. He didn't really feel the need to chime in seeing as it was mostly just about finding some more food and whatnot. Just the mention of food made Quinn's stomach growl. He wanted breakfast, and he wanted it soon.

As the two seemed to be finishing up, another hybrid seemingly came out of thin air. He greeted everyone with a good morning. Quinn simply raised up one of his massive arms and offered a short wave. He recognized this hybrid a little better than the owl hybrid. He was a hunter, someone who helped put food in Quinn's and everyone else's bellies. Quinn would probably end up asking him how the hunts have been going at breakfast.

Hearing Jess say that she needed to get going, Quinn let out a short puff through his nostrils as he said,"Yeah, you need to get going...no thanks as usual I see." in a rather sarcastic tone as he folded his arms up once again.
