Inspiration & What to expectI was inspired by the MGS series, which I absolutely loved and still love to play nowadays. Regardless, this is not related and does not take place in the MGS universe.
You can expect conspiracies, occasional humor, paranormal and supernatural events, patriotism, shootouts, and numerous other themes.
Birdsie is my CO-GM.
Character ProgressionAs the RP goes on, you can expect character development as with any other RP's, but characters will also get stronger.
Over time, your character will earn DPs (Duty Points) and USD (US Dollars,) that they can spend to learn new skills and specializations; and purchase new equipment respectively.
Your character can also go to the gym to get stronger, practice shooting, tighten bonds with other operatives, and The Colonel encourages all operatives and agents to make fake attempts on his life; offering 100,000 DPs and $100,000 to anyone that manages to take him out in combat. All moves are allowed and you may attack at any time of day except after 2200 to 0800. (The way that time is counted in the military, they do not use phrases like PM, or AM.)
What will we be going against? There will be lots of stuff. Terrorist groups, other groups of interest, or even hunting rogue agents... all kinds of stuff that can come to mind. I will accept suggestions and openly hear out everyone that has any ideas. Once a squad of operatives (the characters) moves out of the base, they will be given a briefing with all the information needed. Remember this to write your character:
THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND:
- Try to write it as if you were writing a military report about your character.
- The communication and management device (If you were playing a videogame: Imagine it as your menu, where you choose all the stuff, and access the map, etc.) used by the Death Platoon is called: Stealthcom. I advise to include it in Equipment.
- Think of "Specializations," as your college majors. They are the stuff you are good at. Something that makes you distinct. You can have multiple specializations, but don't go overboard with it. Soldiers can also earn more specializations over the RP. Skills, on another hand are things your character is proficient with, but not a master of.
- As the roleplay progresses, your character can learn new skills and specializations; you do that by requesting to learn them from the Colonel. Learning a skill costs 1,000 DP and a specialization; 5,000 to 50,000 DP depending on the skill. You can also order new equipment for a said amount of USD. After obtaining new skills, specializations, or equipment like that; mention it in IC, tag Birdsie and you have a green light to edit your CS to include it.
(NOTE: Delete all brackets in the sheet after you're done, and delete any options that you didn't choose in your specialization. In other words: Clean up after yourself, soldier.)
