Athena Archer

It had been over two weeks since the events that took place. Athena often called Leo to check up on him every once in a while. At his apology, she just simply shook her head, saying that she understood why he acted the way he did.

At the current moment, she was on the phone with her mother. The two were conversing with her mother asking her about college and friends. Then, the subject of Leo came up.
"So when am I going to meet this Leo fella??" Her mother asked. With the tone in her voice, Athena could just tell that she had her eyebrows raised with a playful look on her face.
"Mama, I've only been on one date with the guy." She said with a laugh. Her mother was getting just a little too ahead of herself.
"It's never too early. Y'know my father met your father before we ever went out on a date? He had to ask for his blessing to take me out. Oh, your father was so scared." Athena's mother spoke, chuckling. Athena laughed.
Thena held the phone in her ear, with the support of her shoulder. She grabbed the black pirate hat on her bed and placed it on her head, thankfully it was easy to put a hat on this time around. The girl had chosen to be a pirate this Halloween.. Her curly hair was constrained by two braids.

"How did paw-paw act?" Athena questioned, sitting down and lacing up her black boots.
"Oh, he was something else. But reasonably so. I was his little girl." Her mother answered.
Athena got out and glanced out the window, before seeing Leo standing outside her door.
"Oh mama, I have to go now. I love you." She spoke. The woman on the other line uttered a small love you before the two hung up.

The young woman grabbed scarlet red bandanna and tied it around her neck to complete the pirate look.
Athena went downstairs, quickly filling Indie's food bowl and water, before exiting the front door.
"Hi Leo." Athena greeted, being met with the sight of Leo Davide himself in along cloak, a pale face and wearing fangs.
She let a smile form, "You look pretty great." Athena complimented.

Aidan had been focusing on his job for the last two weeks as of now. He was working on saving up for something in the near future. The boy had spent the night at the Sullivan house. He was currently in lounge, hanging out with his cousins. It was then that Conor entered the lounge. His curiosity piqued once Conor asked about going out. "I would be more than willing." Aidan answered with a wide grin. He sat up straight.

Olivia always kept a low profile when it came to being seen around Vinnie and the Romanos. When she was in the same place, she always made sure to enter the building unseen and as discreetly as possible. Most of her communication with Vinnie tended to be by telephone, so she was curious as to why she'd been asked to come to the casino now it was known to be Romano property. The fact others were invited along suggested her time to take action was approaching. Her only task for some weeks now had been befriending her colleague at the modelling agency - that colleague being Shannon Sullivan. Whilst Olivia wasn't excited about potentially being the one who would lead Shannon to her fate, she was looking forward to no longer having to keep a low profile. If she did this job right, she knew she could finally be an true employee of Vinnie's and one who would be able to be seen in public with the family, to live amongst the only people who gave her a chance when her parents had died.

Olivia looked towards the source of the clicking sound to see Fortuna approaching. The woman was dressed as elegant as always and that brought a smile to Olivia's face - she admired the woman's style and demeanour. "Fortuna, it's a pleasure to see you again. I've been great," she answered her, returning the smile. She then opened the door for them both to enter the office and take their seats, not feeling as awkward about sitting there with someone else present. "Vinnie isn't here yet, but we know how that goes," she noted. "How have you been? I haven't had chance to speak with anyone in weeks," she told her.

Leo stood a little nervously as he waited for Athena to answered the door. When she finally opened it to reveal she was dressed as a pirate, he was relieved to have confirmation she was still coming to the party with him. "Heyyy, Athena," he softly greeted her. He studied her outfit before grinning. "You make an amazing pirate. I love it!" he told her. For some reason, being in her presence made him feel less tense and able to smile. He only wished he'd seen her sooner if he'd known she'd make him feel this much better.

"Come on," he said, leading her to his car. "You're going to love this place. The Crystal Ballroom is very exclusive, I'll have you know," he explained, opening the car door for her. He got in the driver's seat and turned to her. "I managed to use my bargaining power to get us tickets - helps that I work at the Grand Hotel," he added. He didn't consider this to be ill-gotten benefits as his work at the hotel was completely legitimate and he felt any perks from the job were earned.

"I've been doing quite well myself, thank you for asking" Fortuna replied smoothly as she casually leaned back into her seat, a pleasant smile spread across her lips. "Business has been growing busier than ever before, so I haven't had many chances to speak with anyone outside of work either." She added not a moment later, crossing one leg over the other after placing her tote bag down by her feet. Olivia was most definitely a pleasant young woman to be around, with her friendly and open demeanor, and has quite the number of admirable traits under her belt. Not only that, but her fashion sense wasn't all that bad either, and that only served to heighten her opinion of the other.

Angel opened the door, a smile forming as he saw who it was. A red, silk robe was draped around Angel, his hair still wet from his shower. He pulled the cigar from his lips, clamping it between his fingers. "Bonjurno," Angel said, motioning Vinnie inside.

"Anything to drink?" Angel asked as he moved for his kitchen. He poured the contents of his cocktail from his blender into a glass. Angel moved the blender into the sink as he whisked the alcohol around in the glass. "It's getting to be that time of year again. I've been countin' down the days."

"I'm glad to hear you're doing well, Fortuna. Vinnie sure does like to keep us all busy," she noted, upon hearing business was keeping her colleague on her toes too. "I am curious as to why I'm here, though. It's very rare the Boss has me attend meetings in person. I can only assume the Sullivans have pushed him far enough that he's ready for me to do my bit," she suggested. She didn't known much about the explosives and weapons deals that had gone wrong, but she knew the Sullivans had got in the way of Vinnie's important deals. She did know about Sandro's death and that their main rivals were indirectly to blame. "I think it's terrible what happened to poor Leo. Nobody should watch their parents die," she sadly spoke. In a way, she hoped Shannon's children wouldn't have to either.

Vinnie smirked as Angel opened the door in his robe. "Evening, Angel," he flatly replied as he stepped into the apartment. When offered a drink, he glanced to the cocktail Angel had just made. "If you've got any whiskey, then yes please, just a quick one. You know I'm not big on cocktails," he remarked. "What time of year would that be?" he simply asked, wondering if there was something he was intended to pretend to be excited about. Even Christmas was at times a struggle and he expected moreso now, without Gianna there to get him into the festive spirit.

"I must be overworking you. You look busy," he sarcastically noted. "I'm on my way to the casino to speak with some of the others and avoid this Halloween farce. I just need to know how you're progressing with the Sinead task," he enquired. "I've not yet been compensated for the merchandise the Sullivans destroyed and stole. Porter isn't dead because he can't reimburse me if he's six feet under. So I'm exploring my options."

Angel filled the bottom ring of a spare glass with Crown Royal. He slid the glass across the kitchen table to Vinnie. "Why, Halloween of course," angel moved to Vinnie, cocktail in hand. "The superstitions; "The Grim Reaper", "The Boogie Man", they all make my job easier." Angel sipped on his drink as Vinnie asked about Sinead. "I've uh... Definetly made progress. I think she'd take my interpretations of certain events especially to heart." Finishing his cocktail, he moved back to the kitchen. "Ah, Porter. If I can't physically shake the money out of his pockets, I can sure as hell manipulate my way in there. Leave that to me."

The young woman had never even thought about rejecting Leo's offer. She really did enjoy spending time with the man.
Athena smiled at Leo's reaction to her outfit. "Thank you. You make a pretty great vampire yourself." she replied with a light cheeky smile. Thena found herself being a bit more smiley when around the man. The girl was always a positive person but it seemed being around him brought out the butterfly in her.
Athena followed Leo as he lead her to his car. She listed as he talked about the Crystal Ballroom, getting it when he opened the car door for her. Her interest piqued when he mentioned on how he got the tickets.
"Oh that's really cool." She commented, buckling up.
Her eyes glanced over at him, "So what will this place be like?" Athena questioned, curious.

A brief moment of silence ensued between them. "You're right, no one should have to go through such a thing. Unfortunately, the world couldn't care less about how we feel." Fortuna eventually replied, allowing a wry smile to grace her lips. "The only thing we can do is suffer, and suffer in silence. The world likes it better that way." A bit of her own bitterness leaked into her voice as she spoke, but that was gone as soon as it came. "But enough of such a depressing topic," She voiced out, easily reverting back to her usual pleasant demeanor. "Has anything interesting happened to you lately?"

Vinnie took the glass as it was slid towards him, giving a nod and a simple thank you. He smirked as Angel confirmed it was Halloween he had been counting down to. "I'm sure supersitions do make your job easier, my friend," he said, chuckling. "I'm the monster every day of the year, so this day is no more special," he remarked. He took a sip from his drink as Angel spoke about Sinead. "Progress is good. I want that precious little thing eating out of the palm of your hand as soon as possible. If you can break her away from that family of hers, that would be the most ideal. If not, we'll have to take her away by force," he suggested.

As the conversation moved to James, Vinnie nodded his head. "If you're sure you can do that, I'm on board. I'm a family man and I know the Sullivans enough by now that deep down I don't want to see them lose their loved ones through death. Even if they didn't show me or Leo the same courtesy. But if I don't get my money, that's exactly what will happen."

Olivia couldn't help but display a weak smile when Fortuna said the world didn't care how they felt. It was true. When her parents were killed, all the authorities wanted to do was find Olivia and deport her back to Europe so she could suffer on her own on the streets with not money or family. The only person who cared for the orphaned teenager had been Vinnie himself. "I guess I can't disagree with that, no matter how depressing a thought." She smiled when the subject changed. "Well, since Sergeant Hunter was kindly removed from in my face," she began, grateful Fortuna and Michael had offed him, "I've been getting to know Shannon Sullivan. Shame she's one of them, because she's quite a fun woman to be around." she noted. "Other than that, I've been having to keep a very low profile. How about you?"

Lucy Sullivan

When Lucy had first received the invitation, she really had no idea what to think of it. Sure she was all for getting dressed up and going and having a good time, however, this was one of the most exclusive events of the year. How the hell did she end up with one? Maybe one of her friends had put in the good word...at least, she hoped one did. James had been hesitant on going, he wasn't really one for such events. But after receiving puppy eyes from both Lucy and Lady, he came around. Lucy had a dress hand made for her the same week. It was a red. A color that she chose as a bit of a joke to herself.

Holding it up in the mirror in her room, she smiled lightly, "At least if I get blood on this one, it would blend right in!" She told Lady as she sat on her bed with the pink ball she had received from James sitting between her from paws. Lucy smiled at the pup before moving to place the dress on. Her moved a hand to her curls and ran it through them lightly as she looked at her reflection. She loved the dress and knew to trust the seamstress who created it. It fit her every curve perfectly, flowing down her legs elegantly. Lucy really wasn't a costume person, but if managed the right way, she could make it work. She grabbed the little devil horn headband sitting on her dresser and placed it on. The last thing that would need to go on would be her mask, but she would wait until she got down stairs to do that.

After slipping on a pair of red heels, she moved to walk down the stairs..noticing the everyone had kinda gathered there. Finn caught sight of her and whistled lowly at her.

Finn had noticed Lucy as she walked down the stairs and whistled lowly at his cousin. The party she was going to had been pretty exclusive and required a certain dress code, which Finn was sure she had met and probably set the standards pretty high. He gave her a lopsided grin as she rolled her eyes at him. "What?" He laughed lightly and watched as she placed the mask on her face delicately. Finn gave another famous grin.

"You look like the devil in disguise." He commented which earned a playful yet painful slap from Lucy on the arm. She told him to hush and walked towards one of the hall closets to grab her purse as Finn's attention was brought back into the group of cousins. He listened to Conor's words and wondered exactly what they would be able to do. He sat down on one of the chairs and heard Aidan. "I would love to go out tonight as well!" He finally said to his cousin and looked to his sister for a moment. Wondering how she was feeling since moving in the house. It had been a hectic few weeks, but she seemed to be adjusting to it slowly. "We could check out the haunted house they have going on too? Just for shits and giggles...and possibly screams!"

"A shame, indeed." Fortuna dipped her head in agreement upon hearing Olivia's words. While she has never spoken to Shannon on a personal level, since they both knew of each other's affiliations, she was well-aware that the fraudster's words rang true. "Well, as for myself, I've noticed that things have been growing more and more..." She paused slightly, as though searching for the right word to describe the entire situation. "...exciting, you could say, as time goes by." The hitwoman soon finished, flashing the hostess a beaming grin. "I can only assume that that it will continue to be as such for a while. Before the eventual climax, that is. The deciding factor in this whole mess."

James had been very reluctantly getting dressed up in one of the spare bathrooms. This was so far out of his comfort zone he caught himself considering if being physically tortured by Vinnie was more enjoyable - it was certainly more familiar territory for him. Hearing Lucy leave her room and head downstairs, he figured he should make a move too. It didn't help that he knew just about everyone was downstairs ready to rib him. He supposed he should be grateful Shannon was already out as he could only imagine the comments she would make.

As he entered the lounge, James' face was a deep shade of red before anyone had even had chance to see him. "I feel like a bloody idiot," he remarked, fixing the mask around his eyes. He heard Conor shout out the word "Zorro" and simply nodded his head whilst biting his lip. "Yup. I really enjoyed that move," he plainly admitted.

"You know you're probably not allowed to take a dangerous sword into a fancy party, right?" Conor teased.

"It's plastic, mate," James replied. He then reached inside his jacket and pulled out a handgun. "This is real though," he confirmed. And it was going with him into the party else he wasn't going into the party. James managed to shift his immediate embarrassment to finally focus on Lucy. He smiled brightly and fondly as he admired her outfit. "You look amazing, love," he told her. "Makes it worthwhile me looking like a complete loser."

Conor observed Lucy and James, a smile brought to his face as it made him feel good to see at least one couple able to be publicly happy together. He was glad because he felt they both deserved it. "You look lovely, Lucy. I always knew you were the evil sibling of the family, though," he joked. He nodded to James. "You look fine, Zorro. Calm down, will you?" he teased.

"You both look great," Sinead sweetly told them as she continued to sit close to her big brother, having missed his comforting presence lately. "I wish I was going to the ball. You're going to love it," she assured them.

When Finn suggested going to the haunted house, Conor grinned. Although he'd said they didn't have to bother with Halloween, the thought of the haunted house honestly excited him. "Yes! We should check it out. It'll be fun," he enthused. He then playfully tightened the arm that was around Sinead and teasingly pulled her in close. "You're coming too. We'll protect you from the scary boogeyman."

"Nooo," Sinead argued, wriggling around to loosen Conor's hold. "I'll stay home and keep Lady company."

"Don't Underestimate A Pretty Face."

**************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************

****************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************

Maggie had herself positioned in one of the two love seats in the lounge. A half full glass of red wine was balanced quite elegantly [for her anyways] in her right hand, while her left flipped a page over of the script she was reading. The past week or so was good to Maggie. The more she settled in, the more free time she had. Sure, Conor had her and her brother working at the Emerald, but in between then, she had decided there would be no lazing around. And what would you know, she scored herself an audition for a production in that time. It was saving grace, and a role she would love to play. Lowly street girl rises to the top as a dancer and finds love in more than one man along the away. It was typical, but, everyone loves a meet cute. Maggie was quiet in her place, nothing unnatural of her, and was quite involved in learning her lines. If you paid close enough attention you could see her lips moving fast, reciting words without any noise. Despite this however, she was listening to everything going on around her. Well...almost everything. It wasn't until Finn whistled at Lucy's appearance did Maggie lift her head.

She smiled immediately upon seeing her stunning cousin descend the stairs. If only she could pull off such a look herself. 'You look beautiful Luc,' Maggie counteracted. She rolled her eyes momentarily at her brother for his comment. She found it slightly odd, how such a charming and incredibly gorgeous young man like her brother could quickly shift into something animal once threatened. The fight at the bar often passed through her mind when she saw Finn in his usual boisterous mood. It was an impactful night, on most of them. Even away from the pub. She wasn't sure if she would ever understand that aspect of her brother. Maybe one day she would. The girl didn't recieve a psychology scholarship for nothing. Her gaze suddenly moved to Conor in interest while he spoke, and something lit up in her eyes. A night on the town, for Halloween nonetheless sounded like the perfect idea. She locked eyes with her brother and shook her head, agreeing with Aidan, and only half with him. 'A night out sounds just right, but, I am staying far away from that house,' she laughed. Not three years ago Finn had encouraged her into the same house, only to scar her for life when two of the "performers" decided the second floor bedroom was a perfect place to "lie down." She shuddered at the thought of it, an indescribable look coming upon her face. 'In fact-.'

Maggie cut herself off to bring her left hand to her mouth in attempt to conceal the laugh that rang through the lounge. Apparently James in a Zorro costume was too much for her. Very swiftly she sat her glass on the table in fronf of her to avoid it being spilled. She was still giggling at James' ridiculousness when she sat back again. For a moment, she shared a look with her similarly humoured brother, before she was shaking it off. She had to be kind. Maggie nodded along to Sinead's kind words, unable to rip the shit eating grin off of her face. She snapped her fingers towards Sinead in response to her statement with a nod. 'I, second that. Lady needs 2 sources of company at all times. It says so in the constitution.' That was real convincing~. 'She is a coveted canine.'

Alexandra had worked the morning shift in the diner and since it was Halloween, they all had to dress up, but Alex didn't mind since Halloween was her favourite holiday. Once she finished her shift, Alex waited outside until her brother Nicolo arrived to pick her up. Once she got into the car, Nicolo turned to her "How are you not freezing" he asked "'I'm cold blooded" she said with a shrug, to which Nicolo laughed. They drove in silence until they reached the Casino. The siblings walked in side by side towards the office "so what are you a prostitute" Nicolo asked in a teasing manner. "No im a fairy" Alex replied as she rolled her eyes. "But you dont have wings" Nicolo pressed to which Alex sighed "not all fairies have obvious wings" she said as they turned the corner towards the office "yes they do!" Alex ignored Nicolo's comment as she spotted Olivia and Fortuna waiting outside. "Hey" she said in greeting as she approached them. Nicolo gave a nod towards them "hello, he not here yet?"

Olivia smiled at Fortuna as she spoke. "Yes, I think things are going to keep getting more exciting. Especially as Vinnie seems to keep wanting to expand, by getting places like this under his belt," she observed. She knew the the bigger Vinnie's business got, the more enemies he would inherit, and likely more bullets would be fired. More casualties...

Olivia was snapped from her thoughts when Nicolo and Alex entered the room. She got up from her seat and glanced, to Fortuna, wondering if the older woman had also noticed Alex's outfit. "Hey there," she pleasantly greeted Alex. "That dress is pretty fantastic," she complimented her. Regardless of liking the dress, Olivia could pretty much imagine how Vinnie would react and it wouldn't be so favourably. She then looked to Nicolo and gave the young man a warm smile. "Evening, Nicolo. No, your father isn't here yet. I'm sure he'll join us when he's ready to," she noted. Olivia knew Vinnie was likely doing some other business first. Even if his tardiness wasn't down to other business, they would know not to question it and he wouldn't feel the need to explain himself.

Angel had disappeared into his bedroom as Vinnie spoke, bringing his cocktail with him. A tuxedo had been laid upon the bed, broken up into its core pieces. Angel removed his robe, putting on the tux piece by piece. "You'll get your money," Angel called out to Vinnie from his bedroom. He looked in the mirror, adjusting his bow tie, "I'll make sure of it."

Stepping out of the room, he held his cocktail glass close to his chest. "How do I look?" He asked, raising his arms out to the side. He had the tux tailored just yesterday, perfectly hugging his body. He moved for his cigar box, tucking a Cuban into his jacket pocket.

As Leo drove them to the venue, he couldn't help but think how glad he was that Athena had joined him this evening. He hated that he'd attacked Vinnie in front of the young lady, no matter what the circumstances had been. He never lost his temper like that and it upset him that when he did, it had been in front of Athena. He was snapped out of his thoughts when she asked him what the place they were going to was like. "You're in for a surprise. It's like some sort of palace. Crystal chandeliers, artwork painted on the ceiling, gold statues in the hallways," he trailed off. "I really should just let you see for yourself."

Once they arrived outside the large, old building, Leo stepped out of the car and rushed around to open the passenger door for Athena. He then handed his keys to the valet and took his ticket, allowing the man to park the car for him. Leo briefly placed his hand on Athena's shoulder before leading her to the main entrance. After handing his invitation letter to the doorman, the two were allowed entry into the ballroom. As promised, the corridor was extravagantly decorated and Leo fell incredibly lucky to be there, especially with Athena.

When they stepped into the large ballroom, the dining tables were set out beautifully around the perimeter of the room, with the glitzy bar at one end of the room and the stage at the other. In the centre was the dance floor. The band wasn't due to play yet, so for now soft classical music was being played by the lone pianist on the stage. Leo sought out an empty round table for two and offered Athena a seat. "I hope you like it?" he curiously asked.

When Lucy had stuck up for him and dragged out an embarrassing memory from Conor's past, James took great pleasure in playfully flipping Conor the bird. He then followed Lucy to the door, as did Lady. James crouched down to stroke the pup, briefly wondering if he could smuggle the dog into the party under his cape.

James had decided to leave his new car safely in the Sullivans driveway, so had David drive him and Lucy to the ball. Besides, he quite fancied having a few drinks this evening, if only to loosen up a bit at this crazy kind of party. As David stopped the car outside The Crystal Ballroom, James looked out of the window at the other people who were entering the place, quite relieved to see he wasn't alone and there plenty of other men looking pretty foolish in their costumes too. David opened the rear door for Lucy and James to step out, before telling them to have a good night and then driving off.

James placing his arm around Lucy's waist and led her to the main entrance, letting her hand their invite over to the doorman. Once they entered the building and began walking down the corridor to the main room, James looked around, his mouth wide open for a short time. "How fancy is this place?" he asked Lucy, managing a bright smile. "I mean, you always look a million dollars, so you fit right into a place like this. But me, I'm more suited to the Emerald, or Whistler's Jazz Club, at best," he joked. Still with his arm around her waist, he pulled her in a little closer and gave her a kiss on the cheek just before they entered the ballroom. "You make a sexy devil, love."

Vinnie took another drink from his glass as Angel disappeared to get dressed up. He heard the man shout out that he'd get his money and smirked to himself. "Much appreciated," he called back. The man had three perfectly good sons of his own, but he often looked to Angel as a fourth. Perhaps even Leo a fifth. For all of his faults and terrible deeds, Vinnie was a great man to his family and closest friends, thinking of the most loyal as family too. Angel was a hard worker and a loyal man, which made Vinnie very fond of hiim, even if he rarely showed it. He didn't doubt he would do what he could to help him get reimbursed.

When Angel emerged dressed in his tuxedo, Vinnie gave him a single nod. "Looking very suave, Angel," he replied. He knocked back the rest of his whiskey before setting the glass on the nearest flat surface. "I'd best head to the casino. You enjoy your night out and break a few hearts," he remarked. He patted the younger man on the shoulder before letting himself out. "We'll speak soon," he called back.

"I suppose that's nothing new" Nicolo commented as he took a seat and sat back comfortably. His father was never on time to meeting and Nicolo had become accustomed to this, often showing up late himself, but since he had to pick up Alex today he ended up being earlier than usual.
Alex smiled when Olivia complemented her dress. "Thank you, I'm a fairy" she did a little twirl to show of the full extent of her dress, a huge grin playing on her face as she did so. Alex was like a child on Halloween, she loved the idea of dressing up, a long with the spookiness that the night entailed.
"A fairy prostitute" Nicolo commented with a smirk as he watched Alex spin around like a child showing off their new clothes. Suddenly he felt a pain in the back of his head and turned to see Alex glaring at him, the hand she had just smacked him with still raised.
"I AM NOT A PROSTITUTE" Alex practically growled at him before the grin took over her face again as she moved to take the seat beside Olivia "So how are you keeping?" She asked her "doing anything tonight?"

Sinead looked to Maggie when she said she too would stay home and keep Lady company. "Oh, Maggie. As much as I love your company, you don't have to stay home, unless you really do just want to keep Lady company," she told her, with a warm smile. "I'm just going to be sulking because I'm stuck inside instead of going out to a fancy party with a man on my arm," she noted. None of them would know, but there was only one man she wanted on her arm and they could hardly be seen together at the same party.

"Yeah, you got me there," Conor began replying to Lucy, "James is the tall, dark, mysterious man I've had my eye on. You stole him from me," he played along. Then when she mentioned him dressing up as Princess Featherbottom, laughter could be heard from the others around them. Sinead's laugh, because she was right in his ear. Finn's, because he was seriously lapping it up. "Yeah, well, I had to do something to make two stupidly girly sisters happy, didn't I? You just wait - I'm going to cover your bedroom in clowns tonight, Lucy!" Conor then turned his attention back to Finn. "You done laughing yet, or do I need to kick your ass?" he asked, with a playful grin.

"I'm not scared," Sinead told Finn as he tried to get her to come out with them. "I just know how much you guys drink. I'm not carrying your drunken butts back home," she told them, with a smile that had been few and far between this evening. The truth was, she wasn't really scared of the haunted house idea, but she was afraid that every time she or her family went out something bad happened. She was afraid if she went out tonight, any one of her loved ones could get hurt again and she wasn't sure she could cope with it.

rsz_ryan-gosling-ties-bowtie-u6plyvbgmehl.jpg Angel took a deep breath once Vinnie had left. He wasn't so much nervous about tonight, more the fact that he still had to put more pieces into play before he was positive it would end in his favor. He drank the remaining liquid from his glass before sliding it across the table. He moved for the mirror one more time, to make sure his bow was perfectly aligned. He pushed aside the thoughts of Sinead, locking her away in his mind. The last thing he needed right now was more complications and distractions. He was a cold hearted killer, and tonight, he would be just that.

He removed his coat and rested it on the chair before moving to the kitchen. Angel reached for the drawer, so over used that the handle's brown paint had faded, pulling the metal Colt 1911 out. He slid the seven round magazine into place - then racking the slide back. One of the many pieces of his plan was showing up to the ball armed. He slid the intricate holster around his shoulder. He fitted it on like a harness, the many straps aligning his back. Angel picked up the firearm, balancing the familiar weight in his hand. He then slid the weapon into the holster, strapping it in.

The three buttons concealed his weapon and the holster completely. Smoothing down his coat, he was pleased to see not even a bulge of the holster. He examined his watch to make sure the event hadn't started. He was still right on schedule. Moving for the red masquerade mask, he secured the ribbons behind his head. He was ready.

Fortuna glanced back at Olivia, before directing her gaze back towards the sister of the two Romano siblings. The dress, while definitely unique and distinctive in it's own way, wasn't exactly something of her taste. Though, if Alex seemed to like it, then she wouldn't stop her from wearing what she wanted, regardless of whether she liked her attire or not. She knew for a fact that Vinnie most certainly wouldn't approve of it, however, especially with such a short skirt. The hitwoman then decided to keep her thoughts to herself, for now, at least.

The car ride was short and sweet, and as David opened the door, Lucy felt nervous herself. But she knew poor James was like a baby deer walking for the first time in this type of event, so she concealed her nervousness well. As David left she looked up at the large building that contained the Crystal Ballroom. She was honestly amazed by the sheer size of it.

As they walked up to the door of the building, she handed the man their invitation and James and her walked inside. She had heard rumors about this ballroom being absolutely spectacular but she did not expect what she saw. It was one of the most beautiful things she had ever seen. "Wow." She said simply and looked to James as he spoke. Her cheeks blushed and she shook her head as she responded, "I'm worth a good 1,000 at most!" She laughed lightly and took in his handsome appearance. "You definitely belong here love," She eyed a few women already glancing his way and rolled her eyes. "And careful Mr.Porter I might have to send you to hell for such language." She teased. "But I think you seem to be drawing more attention, looks like you have a fan club." There was an edge of jealousy to her voice but she knew they were no match.

"On the bright side, I think you have a tame costume to some of these men..."She giggled behind a hand.

Finn stood up and gave Conor a playful punch before looking to Sinead. She had a valid point. "Well the goal is to see who can get the most shitfaced right? I mean, I can drink circles around my dear Princes here." He wrapped an arm around Conor's shoulders and laughed. "If he is up for the challenge of course."He raised an eyebrow at him. Aidan, Maggie and Sinead would be able to see just how similar the boys were, almost like brothers.

"We could just have a guys night hmmm? Maybe try to real in some pretty young things?" He said before rolling his eyes at his own words. He really didn't have time for women. His sister was enough female in his life. Not that she was a bother. Finn looked to Maggie making sure it would be okay if they guys could all go out. "Are you sure you want us to go? I mean...we can dress Conor up in a dress...I'm sure he wouldn't mind." Finn quickly moved to avoid a punch from his cousin.

The Chevrolet pulled up to the large building. A hectic crowd had already formed, the line stretching down the duration of the sidewalk. The event turned out to be as exclusive as the invitation stated, a large portion of the line being turned away. Angel turned into the valet parking, being ushered to a parking spot. As he stepped out, eager employees crowded around his car to be the one to park it. Angel handed his key to the closest employee. "Be careful." He told the valet as he stepped to the line. Not being the patient type, he instead walked parallel to the red rope to the entrance. "Giovanni!" A man yelled out from the entrance. He was a fairly large man, wearing all black attire with a security tag on his vest. Angel smiled as he gripped the man's hand in a firm handshake. The man walked with Angel to the doors. "We did as you asked, however, there will be Sullivan security scattered throughout the building. They were just as eager as you to have firepower at the ready." "I'm sure." Angel flatly responded, looking around outside. "You take care of yourself in there." "Of course." Angel responded, moving for the doors. The man quickly caught Angel's arm. Angel looked behind his shoulder, back at the man. "I'm serious, please don't start anything. I won't take it from you, but please keep that away." Clearly referring to the handgun, Angel took an over exaggerated pause as he pretended to be offended, "I wouldn't dream of it." He winked at the man before moving inside.

Angel strolled into the large event, instantly surrounded by wealthy patrons and important political figures. He did his fair share of polite mingling, but kept his mind on the object. He scanned the balcony above, nodding to the Romano security stationed. It wasn't easy to spot James and Lucy, but he managed to catch sight of them before they disappeared into the crowd. A small smirk played upon his lips as everything had seemed to fall into place. Instead of diving right in, he decided it would be best to stick to the outskirts of the crowd, moving along the pillars. He was instantly drawn to the large bar, the alcohol shelf basically sending him a personal invitation. "Dry martini, three olives." He leaned on the bar table, looking around the crowd. "It's gonna be a long night." He said to the bartender, returning the lustful glare of a few female patrons.

When they entered the ballroom, Lucy pointed out that some other women had their eyes on him. James grinned at Lucy but shook his head. "Nah, they're just thinking about what a tool I look. Besides, you're the only one I need checking me out."

James found them both a table nearer the bar than the stage and a waiter soon came to take their drinks order. "Now, tell me we don't have to dance. Remember my no dancing in public rules?" he half-joked, though really would prefer not to dance.

After a few drinks, James looked around the place, seeing everything appeared normal and recognising a few of the Sullivan men. "Right. I need to go to the men's room. I'll be quick," he told Lucy, kissing her cheek before walking off to find the restrooms.

Lucy rolled her eyes at James calling himself a tool and playfully swatted his arm. He then proceeded to ask if they were going to dance, and knowing that it was one thing he didn't like to do in public she answered. "No no dancing tonight my love." She told him softly before nodding her head as he said he needed to go to the men's room. She watched him leave before turning and taking in all the costumes and outfits around. A lot of them were creative and colorful. No clowns insight which was a good thing for Lucy, clowns definitely do not fit the picture of exclusive. Lucy wanted to go to the bar, but she decided it would be best to stay in the spot James had left her. Lucy was already a walking target to some people, and moving away from the one man who could keep her safe was not a safe choice. Her lips curled into a smile as she thought about James and she continued to observe silently.
