The Purple Soul
Normal is an illusion. What is normal for the spider is chaos for the fly. Charles Addams |
A Dark Town.
A handful of kids get detention one day in their high school of bricks and disrepair, and stay after school together in the Principals office. Messing around, this group of deviants find a tome, locked away in a secret compartment behind the wall. Reading this book, they realize that they no longer have to worry about grades or bullies or familial issues, as they have a much bigger issue on hand. The ancestor of the mayor, turning out to be a protector of special objects and locations with extranatural properties, placed a curse on the town before he died to keep his charges dull and unassuming, allowing people to live normal lives. But now, the curse has faded, and demons and events have begun to seep into our world from others.
A Dark Secret.
The teenagers can barely get any help, most adults brushing them off or thinking they need serious help, leaving the work to on the shoulders of young adults who already have more stress then they can handle. With very few allies and October starting to rule the winds above the buildings, the kids face threats with more and more harmful objectives as All Hallows Eve, the day where entities can pass between worlds the easiest, approaches. Items, locations, and even other nearby townships stand in the way of the safety of the main characters, and more importantly, their families.
The Mysteries of Birch Hollow follows the episodic-style adventures in a Stranger Things/Tales From the Loop/Dark kind of way. You will play as teenager in the typical youth v. supernatural/strange things in their town, except one crucial piece of the story will be the characters and their families. Like the aforementioned shows/games, the characters and their backgrounds will play crucial roles in how the darkness of the past affects them, adding a much more compelling, human side to the story full of scary stories come to life. And for the last twist...
The demons and evil that come through and into Birch Hollow, are based on creepypasta. Yes, I know, cringe all you'd like, but it's not the kind you'll be expecting. There will be no Jeff the Killers or anything of the type, as this is toned for a more serious/mystery vibe then that. Some aren't even creepypastas, based on other internet phenomena, like a few Trevor Henderson creatures or well-known organizations
All in all, my wish is for this to work as a series of sorts, with each adventure working as an episode with an overarching plot behind it, based on the actions and consequences of the main characters.
