personality — to be blunt, cecilia is a huge bitch. not unlikable, and certainly not incapable of decency, but it's a label she's accepted once she became the president of the love club. since childhood, she has held high standards for herself and others around her. ballet has taught her rigorous self-discipline, but cecilia cannot help but love to collect information and observe. her throne is high and all-seeing, and she'd like to keep it that way, thank you very much. many of her more unlikable traits come from her lonely years as a kid, and the unfortunate situation between her parents, but cecilia isn't incapable of being a flighty, careless teenager either. occasionally, the girl will indulge in reckless fun, such as smoking, drinking, the typical teenage party life. her thinking, however, is quite self-centered. cecilia truly does think she's above most people, and loves the power and status that the love club gives her. truly a queen bee.

skills — dances ballet, top subject is english literature, can micromanage any aspect of her life. as president of both the love club and the student government, she oversees numerous tasks and decisions, whether it be planning a school event, or considering new applicants. fluently speaks spanish, but her german could use some practice.

background — only child to vivetta and hans wolfe, cecilia is a very bored, very lonely girl in a big empty house. her father came from a family of old money, owning his own conglomerate of businesses alongside his esteemed family and associates. and her mother came from a family of prestigious educators; while she herself immigrated to america at a young age from cuba, her family has laid roots in the states for almost a century by now and were respected for their pursuit of knowledge and providing proper education. to put it mildly, they were rich. from a young age, cecilia has attended academies and private schools, always excelling in her school work. but, it was always an uphill battle to fight for her parents attention. sometimes, her hard work in school would be fruitful. their mansion had a decent library installed, just for her, as she accomplished straight a's for the nth year in a row. other times, cecilia would only know the company of nannies and house maids, who barely tolerated her as she slowly became a hellion. at seven years old, her parents filed for divorce, after the discovery of her father's affair and secret family. it was soon revealed he had another child with another woman, her half-brother dietrich (now eleven.) at first, her mother spun into a barely-controlled depression. it was a messy situation, but both were quite public figures, and handled the divorce as quietly as possible to avoid media conflict. soon, her mother flung herself into her work, and became the new headmistress for montgomery academy, two years before her daughter's attendance. cecilia and her mother soon changed their surnames from her father's, wolfe, to her mother's maiden name, montgomery. she is currently living in new york with her mother and new step-father, and attends montgomery academy.

relationships —

vivetta montgomery — cecilia's mother, and headmistress of montgomery academy. divorced and re-married. cecilia has a very complicated relationship with her mother. on the surface, they appear quite close, but the girl has built and maintained careful walls, letting her mother see only what she wants to see. while cecilia respects her and knows she has worked hard to get to where they are now, she has a very teenage, deep-seated loathing for her as well. her mother is the reason for cecilia's self image issues and doubts, after all.

hans wolfe — cecilia's father. he divorced her mother, and now lives out of state with his separate family. as a child, she used to think she was close to her father. but, his betrayal and distance left her feeling very bitter. they speak on occasion, though she loathes every minute of it.

orey reinhardt. — the only person who truly knows cecilia the best, orey is her closest best friend. the two have been attached at the hip since the beginning of middle school, and they've seen each other through their highs, lows, and everything in between. there are some romantic feelings, deep in her chest, that she's heavily ignoring. for now, however, they're simply those uppity boujee kids who judge you from afar, are at ease with each other, and balance each other out well.

santiago luis ramos. — cecilia's step-father. he recently married cecilia's mother, but neither have changed their surnames. her mother is happy, and so cecilia is happy. if he hurt her, however, cecilia would likely try to kill him. but for now, she tolerates his existence, and they are decent to each other.

dietrich wolfe. — cecilia's half-brother, 11 years old. cecilia has also met him only once. at first, she really hated him. but as she gets older, she knows he has no fault in her familial situation, and they occasionally text.

meredith wolfe. — cecilia's step-mother. currently lives with hans and dietrich. cecilia met her once, and subsequently threw her wine glass in her face. they are not on speaking terms.

personality — since childhood, francis has always been a tightly wound up ball of anxiety. he’s hypervigilant, worrying himself about anything and everything. how he looks, how he acts, what people think of him, what people say about him. because of this, francis has a very skillfully made facade. he's is an innate people-pleaser — polite as can be, friendly, approachable, helpful to whoever asks. making someone happy has always been his kneejerk reaction when it comes to socializing, due to his isolated and abusive upbringing. as he’s gotten older, he’s slowly but surely shaking off the habit. when someone gets past his defenses, it’s easy to see that francis is really just trying his damn best. he's a gentle giant, despite his intimidating stature, and really does enjoy having friends around once he warms up to them. once he moved in with his aunt, however, he did become a bit spoiled. his experiences swung wildly from having no connections, no friends or material objects of his own, to living with rich aunts who spoiled him with lush living. francis's coping mechanisms as a whole are kind of skewed. nowadays, most consider him a 'soft boy,' which is a label he doesn't exactly like, but he supposes it could be worse.

skills — fast runner, skateboards, is currently learning bookbinding, has endless trivia about cryptids and the supernatural, can reach stuff on the top shelf.

background — born in charleston, west virginia, francis was cared for by his parents until the age of five. edward and camille were always a curious couple. they frequently traveled out of country, having their own adventures around the world, before camille found out she was pregnant. at first, it was a pleasant surprise. they settled back in her hometown in west virginia, but after francis was born, they realized they did not want a child. he was left with his paternal grandfather, jameson, and endured his abuse for several years. at first, it wasn’t so bad. francis was still quite young, and his grandfather had more patience, before realizing that his son was not coming back. that bitterness curdled as francis got older, and he endured both physical and verbal abuse. living in isolation, francis would be stuck inside at home for days, whether his grandfather was home or not. eventually, it got to the point where francis missed a school year, and social services intervened and removed him from his grandfather’s household. his only other living relative was his aunt julie and her wife clementine, and they happily took him in as their own by the time he turned twelve. after a couple years of therapy and coping mechanisms, francis is doing better. they have lived in new york city for almost four years.

relationships —

julie meyers, née cohen — francis' aunt and legal guardian. she currently has her own wedding planning business, and has taken care of francis since he was ten. they have a relatively good relationship; while she's always busy with work, she still makes sure to text or call francis to check up on him daily. whenever they're all home together, julie will take the time to cook them a family meal. she genuinely loves and cares about francis, and holds a deep resentment for her sister.

clementine meyers — julie's wife, francis' aunt and other legal guardian. clementine is an accomplished defense attorney, wildly successful and sought after. while seeming stern and strict, she loves her family and the life they have created together.

camille flowers, née cohen — francis' mother. current location unknown. francis barely remembers her face by now, though she did sign the birthday cards his father sent over the years.

edward flowers — father. current location unknown. he's sent francis five birthday cards sporadically throughout the years, but that's the only contact they've had.

jameson flowers — francis' paternal grandfather, his abuser, and a dead bastard. he apparently dropped dead from a heart attack only a year after francis was adopted by his aunts.

why did he apply? — francis isn't exactly sure why he applied for the love club. one certain reason was the distance it granted from the rest of the student body, and the protection it lent. he particularly liked the idea of being just a pretty, aloof face, and the elite status it gave him. he was quite surprised they allowed him to join. francis didn't consider himself as popular or high status, but was accepted due to his near-perfect grades and likability.

during the oh so popular "end of the world party", hosted by the love club to celebrate the end of the school year and its graduating members, jordi was found floating dead in the swimming pool. the cause of death is still in question, but drowning has been ruled out. investigation is currently going underway as the new school year commences.

relationships —

cecilia montgomery — her and jordi were good friends, after meeting in their first class of freshman year. while he certainly wasn't as close to her as orey, he was another person in her life who helped lift off the weight of keeping up appearances and expectations from everyone. they had a strong mutual respect for one another.

orey reinhardt — jordi held orey in high regard; his tutoring was the reason jordi was able to keep his grades up, and he appreciates his help greatly. not just that, but he always thought orey was a funny, lighthearted guy.

backstory: ryan is a born and raised new yorker, child to two young teens who had approximately zero of the resources necessary to care for a child. for religious and financial reasons, ryan's mother was prevented from terminating the pregnancy. no baby could ruin a good time, though. frequent partying brought ryan into the world two months earlier than planned. while she was fortunately okay, outside of being just tee tiny, no life long effects seemed to be had. she spent her first six months in the nicu, being fussed over by nurses and her grandmother, with the occasional sporadic visits from her mother and father.

outside of the hospital, her grandparents sought to bring her some semblance of normalcy. her parents remained a couple and moved in together, getting jobs and attempting to meet all the requirements of a stereotypical nuclear family. it didn't last very long. ryan's mother was fun-loving and rambunctious, and had a tendency to get into trouble. she had a nasty addiction to drugs and drinking, and one day, while needing to be attending to her daughter, overdosed. ryan was found in soiled diapers in a messy room, crying beside the unconscious body of her mother. the court hearing was almost immediate.

while her mother was in rehab, her grandmother took the reigns. while her father loved her and did want to provide for her, he struggled keeping a job and paying rent. it was decided that the safest and most responsible thing to do was to grant full custody to her paternal grandmother.

from her childhood forward, she helped her grandmother, who was apartment manager at the duplex she lived in. the residents were all immensely protective, and she never spent a minute alone. this especially didn't change when a certain brooding boy moved in during her adolescence, gifting her a best friend to pester at all hours of the day without fail.

her grandmother always sought the best for her, and as such, when ryan was offered the possibility of scholarship at the prestigious montgomery academy, there was next to no discussion. many tears later, ryan was on her way.

— HISTORY.
【backstory】If you want to talk about old money then the Blackwood name is sure to come up. The name carries a long and weighty past behind it, rooted deep within British history from as far back as the 15th century when a simple feudal lord was granted his barony. The Blackwoods have survived for hundreds of years, battling through the sporadic turmoil that had repeatedly shaken the nation at its core, accumulating their wealth and power and influence. In the wake of the modern era, they did not quietly fade into the background – instead, they charged to the forefront, sticking their fingers into every pie they could.

Lord Charles Blackwood was not the type of man to sit back idly, comfortable with his rights as a member of the peerage. He kept himself busy by redirecting the focus of the Blackwood Group and transforming them into a giant media mogul. Journalism, entertainment, politics you name it, the Blackwood name will be stamped on like a permanent fixture. Lord Blackwood eventually married a budding Dutch socialite who’d just stepped down from her highly successful modelling career and she bore him three healthy sons.

Louis is the youngest, the spare to the spare. His childhood had been tentatively peaceful, it wasn’t exuding warmth and comfort, but he never wanted for anything. He’d lived for his childish dream of being passed down the mantle by his father, and diligently strived to become the perfect, obedient son so that one day he would be called a lord in his own right. It was never meant to be, not when at the tender age of seven the line of succession was carefully explained to him. Everything continued to spiral from there.

That was when the fights began, his parent's heated arguments echoing throughout marbled corridors in the middle of the night. The screaming, the tears, shattering glass as his mother threw another vase. They were trapped in a loveless marriage but they had a reputation to uphold, a divorce scandal would damage their image. So Louis watched on as they silently suffered. His mother began to take long trips to their holiday villas scattered across the European continent and the boys were left in the care of their father. He noticed how his father treated him a touch differently compared to his older brothers. Edward and Philip were subject to frequent scolding and firm tones but Lord Blackwood was incredibly lax with his youngest son's behaviour and spoilt demands. When Louis realised it was because his father had zero expectations of him, it broke him. Hurting and angry and lost, he would constantly toe the line, but his father would just pat him on his head and wave him away. His final act of defiance was his last shot at finally provoking a reaction. Louis asked to be pulled out of Eton and be allowed to study abroad, to begin as a Freshman at the prestigious Montgomery Academy and Preparatory Institute in New York. It was a blatant snub at the age-old tradition, turning his back on the rite of passage that all the Blackwoods had done before him. His father? He’d simply agreed.

【backstory】— Aiden Kinsley and Zoe Becker were childhood friends that grew up to be high school sweethearts. They were very much in love, but careless when it came to intimacy. Because of this, Zoe became pregnant with Elijah when they were both sixteen years old. The two of them had to grow up fast in order to take care of the child they were going to bring into the world. Aiden's parents disowned him; they told him he wasn't mature enough nor financially ready to become a father and even pushed the idea of abortion. But Aiden adamantly rejected the thought of it, so he vowed to stay by Zoe's side and help raise their child. They had a shotgun wedding.

Fortunately, Zoe's parents were more supportive and ready to financially assist. She came from a wealthier name; her mother was the owner of a five star restaurant while her father was a best-selling author. Shortly after Elijah was born, his maternal grandparents took care of him while Aiden and Zoe obtained jobs. They soon realized he was an active child. He would wander off on his own to inspect anything and everything as soon as he could crawl and walk, which was a bit challenging. He never did grow out of his curiosity.

There was one thing that could keep Elijah in one spot: drawing. He fell in love with drawing, from finger paint, to crayon, chalk, he found an activity where his imagination was quite endless. He started out with stick figures, but the more he practiced as he grew older, the more exceptional his skill became. At school, he made a lot of friends but his grades were average at best—he had the most trouble reading. However, his grandmother saw more potential in him. On his tenth birthday, she told him about Montgomery Academy. The prestigious boarding school was located in New York City, and it was where she and her husband graduated from. He would be surrounded by other talented students and it would open the right doors to pursue his passion.

With permission from his parents, she offered to fly him there and put in a good word so he could be accepted when he was older. The idea of going to a whole new continent was thrilling to Elijah. He craved a new experience. But he wanted to make sure he was enrolled through his own hard work. So he did. By the time he was fourteen years old, he received a scholarship from Montgomery Academy. The rest is history.

Born in the spotlight, Effie was thrust into a life of chaos and cameras. Her father, being one of the top music producers in the country, and her mother, a fully-fledged supermodel, had taken a toll on the girl. Effie struggled greatly with the expectations of her family, along with the public-eye constantly prying into her life. However, it wasn't until Effie turned 11 that she truly realized how toxic of a world she lived in.

Effie, unfortunately, had gone through a trauma no child should ever have to endure. Kidnapped by a fan of her mothers, Effie was abused in many ways for multiple days before being given up for a ransom. Effie became that girl who was once kidnapped, and the stigma never left her side. No matter where she went, people pointed her out, whispering about what she went through. No one knew of the girl, except for the fact that she had famous parents, and was once kidnapped. That was when Effie decided to make a name for herself, instead of being known for things she could not control. She started to take acting classes, along with creative writing classes. SPECIFICS: Jefferson has accompanied his parents on countless trips to Japan and was instructed to pick up the language to expand his future business horizons. It was also during a visit to Hokkaido a number of years ago that Jefferson first took an interest in learning to play the saxophone.

Jefferson lives his life with perpetual pride in himself, and believes that everyone else should live in much the same way. The status of another person's birth is neither here nor there to Jefferson, rather that, so long as that person is interesting or serves a purpose, he'll stick around. The act of consoling others gives him a warped sense of power and accomplishment, though there are rare occasions/specific people for whom his concern is genuine. OVERVIEW: Jefferson is VERY well-rounded, and tried hundreds of things as a child before settling on a few favorites. He has an eidetic memory, and learns things very quickly with or without the help of a teacher. HISTORY

BACKGROUND: To cut a long story short, Jefferson's true origins were vaguely described to him as 'trashy' by his fathers a few years ago. His adoption finalized when he was a little over a year old, whereafter he was raised in the gold-encrusted suburbs of California. His parents, William and Conrad King, are men of distinction and renown, albeit hardly anything close to being 'parent' material. Even after jumping through all the hoops to adopt Jefferson, his entire childhood was a business transaction; Wear what they need him to wear and say whatever they need him to say, wherever or for whichever photo-op they need, and in return, he gets to live a life of unparalleled luxury. When Conrad sold multi-million dollar houses, Jefferson was to make public appearances. When William won high profile cases (and he always won), Jefferson was there for the starved media jackals to take photos of. Conrad and William seemed accustomed to it, but it had taken several years with etiquette instructors to ingrain the stiffness needed to survive the King family.

Naturally, his stress levels also peaked just before middle school as a result of his thankless acting, and his chosen outlets were wrestling and kickboxing from then onward. Montgomery Academy was the school he'd chosen himself, with no shortage of bargaining with his fathers for permission to attend. Through Montgomery, Jefferson has been competing internationally for six years now, but is taking a break from international competitions this year so as to better accommodate his academic profile as a senior.

RELATIONSHIPS & DETAILS:

Conrad King: Neither especially fond of him nor in contempt of Conrad, Jefferson generally only exchanges curt text messages replete with small-talk throughout a given week. Of his fathers, Conrad is the more easygoing of the two. There have never been any 'I love you's' between he and Conrad, but if ever parental consent or parental participation is required, Conrad is the first to arrive and the last to go home. Conrad King, before marrying, was instead Conrad Rothschild - son of a multi-billion dollar banking family spanning many generations. His marriage to William was against his family's wishes and values, and he was effectively disowned not long after he graduated college. Their marriage caused something of a media uproar because of the supposed 'banishment' but things have obviously quieted since.

William King: An amazing attorney and a supreme bastard of a father. His only contribution to Jefferson's personal life has been the money and status that comes with his career, and he very rarely, if ever, speaks to Jefferson one-on-one. The two do butt heads at times, as well. Perhaps William's only redeeming qualities, in Jefferson's eyes, are that he's brutally honest and would both physically and legally disembowel anyone that tries to cross his odd little family of three. William was shuffled through the foster system in Detroit, Michigan, and was not raised with the same silver spoon that his partner was. Gunning for a better life, he devoted every waking moment of his childhood and teen years to studying. He is a learned behavioralist and peerless attorney both, and even his husband's family can't find fault him outside of his sexual orientation.

David Adachi: Jefferson's business management teacher and one of the only people who has an easy time dealing with Jefferson. The two are very alike, though David is far more amicable, and this is precisely the trait he wants the teen to pick up before taking up any actual business ventures. Mr. Adachi is well-acquainted with the King family, from whom he purchased his home (via Conrad) a number of years ago.

Counselor - 'In my regular meetings with Mister Han, I can tell he is very capable and smart. He could excel in anything he put his mind to but is under a lot of pressure. Whether this is from his family, friends, classmates or himself, he appears to limit his options and cut off certain careers without taking into account what I have been advising. Personality: Aurora has a strange perception of reality, in one sense she’s a realist with a cold,calculating view of the world around her. Unlike some people she’s very aware of the privilege that she holds, this knowledge doesn’t make her any less judgmental or snobbish but it does allow her to view her peers in an interesting light. She has to be aware of everything and everyone around her, their family, their social status and if possible, their deepest, darkest secrets. She’s the go to for the latest school gossip and has a great knack of drawing information out of people she might only have known for a few hours. These skills were acquired from countless nights at over the top dinner parties and social events she was dragged to by her parents. Nowadays she loves a party. If she were to take a few moments of true introspection she may realize this constant need for information comes from a craving for control caused by deeper self esteem issues but Aurora likes to think of negative emotions as something she can pack up and leave to the side (and Aurora usually gets what she wants)

In another sense Aurora is a complete dreamer. The girl who spends summers in the warm Italian countryside reading romance novels and taking trips to Milan surrounded by music and inspiration. The side that writes poetry and romantic tunes on the piano and secretly hopes for someone to come and whisk her away in a rom-com style love confession. This side is one that hardly makes an appearance unless she’s around those she trusts, which is a short list of people if you told her peers about this part of her they would probably laugh in your face. On the exterior she’s a driven, cold, confident girl who looks like she knows what she’s doing which is exactly the person she’s been crafting since youth as her father instilled the belief in her that no one would respect an emotional woman, especially the men she would be competing with throughout her life. You could say this started her toxic relationship with her own expression and also quite a few of her toxic real life relationships. She would absolutely hold this against the man until the day he or she died.

HISTORY

Backstory: Matteo Milanese is one of Milan’s most well known socialites. Coming from an old money rich family he studied in the finest institutions, ending up in Paris as a young adult and meeting Betty Howard, an arts student whose creative ventures were being funded by her similarly rich parents. It was love at first sight (or so her mother likes to say) and they eventually settled down and had two doting daughters.

Aurora spent the first 5 years of her childhood in Florence but her parents made the decision that they wanted her to begin schooling in the US, so with her just beginning school and her sister in 4th grade they moved to upstate New York. For the first few months Aurora didn’t fit in, she was fluent in english but found it difficult to adjust to the culture of a new country. But by the beginning of middle school she was a fully fledged New Yorker and found it easy to climb the social ladder, every summer they always ended up back in Italy or France or Portugal which she looked forward to all year long. After starting at Montgomery she found herself falling comfortably into the new routine, she could handle her grades, made plenty of friends and was loving this life. In freshman year tragedy struck her family as insidious cheating rumors whirled around her father and the decision was made for her parents to become ‘separated’, in reality they should’ve been divorced but social pressures and them thinking this would be less hard on their daughters cause this ‘less severe’ announcement. At first Aurora was outraged but eventually came to accept this decision and began living with her mother as her sister graduated and moved back to Italy. There is some speculation that this caused Aurora’s sudden affinity for alcohol and boys.

Relationships:
Father: Matteo Milanese
Matteo is a self proclaimed family man. But in reality is a serial cheater who never truly grew out of his socialite phase. Aurora’s relationship with her father had always been slightly stilted with him claiming she should be taken out of piano classes and put into math tutoring but it was never terrible. After finding out about his adultery at a house party in Soho she stormed back to the house in a tipsy fury and confronted him that way. They haven’t spoken more than 5 words since to each other.

Mother: Betty Howard-Milanese
Betty has become an ornament to society over the past few years as she’s almost constantly at social events or chairing a group that she would’ve made fun of when Aurora was a young child. As she grew up Aurora and her mom were close, she was an artistic spirit that she could learn from and spend time with but ever since her and Matteo split up something inside of her turned off, like it wasn’t worth being creative just for herself. This has caused a slight shift in their dynamic and their closeness isn’t the same anymore.

Sister: Alice Milanese
Alice is four years older than Aurora and they’ve always been very close. Alice was never into the rich kid lifestyle like Aurora is, so as soon as she got the chance to leave she headed back to Italy for college to live the real student lifestyle (even though her parents are paying her fees,living expenses and accommodation)
