Fantasy The Hollow Fantasy (VRMMORPG) (SAO Inspired)

KirienIsamu

a determined artist
With the announcement of SAO Progressive anime, it got me thinking about that old anime I used to watch.
My opinion of it has changed quite a bit since then but I still find the original concept of being trapped in a game interesting.
So yes this is SAO inspired but I will not bound this RP to that universe and would like to hear any ideas you have.

Starting out all players have the same LV 1 stats

HP: 100
MP: 20
STR: 5
DEF: 5
DEX: 5
LUK: 5

EXP to next LV: 50

With every level up your HP and MP increase by 20 and you get 10 points to put into your stats.
(Stats won't be super important since I don't want to slow down the RP with math, it's mostly to give each character their own flavor over time) The number of needed EXP increases by 50 every level.

If you have any questions id like to hear them so we can flesh this idea out more.

Since death of a character is almost permanent you can make a new character to fill their place and we will try to work them into the plot ( If you don't want your character to die then I won't kill them)

Have you ever wanted to walk away from the life you live, Enter a world unlike our own, be the you; you always wanted to be. That is the promise that thousands of citizens were promised in the year 204X with the breakthrough in VR (Virtual Reality) technology leaving the lens of a headset and into the human brain directly. Altero a system that completed its development after almost 20 years has been put to use in a variety of fields especially in the medical field to assist in rehabilitation. However, despite being released to the public at long last, consumer products have been lacking, to say the least.

With sales falling rapidly the company made a partnership with a local game company to develop a title that would attract consumers to pick up the platform.

We happily present to you The Hollow Fantasy utilizing as much of the Altero system's capabilities as possible to bring players an expansive world to explore, make new friends, battle fierce foes, and become a new you.
With a world filled with such opportunities, you may never want to leave..

Is Hollow like a subtle pun on Holo as in Hologram, Holographic, Hololive, etc.?

So, what will we have? Races? Classes (or at least weapon proficiencies that pretty equate to them)? General setting of the game?

I see no reason not to include different races or classes. What kinda races or classes do you think should be included aside from the basics.

What do the 'basics' cover? From there we can work out what to add.

From an aesthetic PoV, the races should try to cover a lot while being relegated to only a few. One game I play has races divided into Human, Elf, Beastman, Fiend and Dragon/Dragonoid, and it's about being trapped in an MMO. It's a decent number.

Let's try to fill a few more niches.

Why not an Undead Race that umbrellas ghosts & zombies alike? We could call them the Draugr. But I guess the idea was for Phantoms to represent ghosts... so are Phantoms the Undead equivalent?

Why not Demon equivalents? Maybe call them Infernals, with Celestials being a counterpart to them.

Why not give humans a racial trait akin to Indomitable Will or something, which reduces chances of Flinching the lower health is.

How will the classes work? Is switching possible, or is it a deal where you stick with the class you pick? This would dictate the class promotion system.

I'm working on the details as I write the main thread but I assume you can switch classes at a specific building in town for a steep price.

Ah, so the system makes it so that it's reccommended to stick to your class and switching is a luxury.

So, will classes upgrade? Maybe a class system like Dragon Nest? Or would you rather Granblue Fantasy's class system where switching classes is neccessary?
