Hotblooded was a trait plenty of Razdorians shared, a passion that was tempered into a cold steel. A roar in the veins that was held back only by Rasporian sensibilities. This is what she reminded herself as she put the boy down to the ground following Grand’s words. She had no real faith that the boy was going to listen and actually understand a damn word. It went against her nature to fight a tiny faunik anyways, but every part of her was screaming that the best option was to tie him up and leave him here. Especially as he began to sound like a sassy Razdorian child first thinking they’re hot shit after their first group kill of a Grimm.

She focused in on Reid and Nicolai, they were the ones she’d devote energy to not the baby growing into their fangs. Like Nicolai said this was a temporary team up, she’d treat Qwin as an outsider to the group until proven that he could work with the group. Under the blood of Melanthi, This was nothing to a Razdorian she reminded herself. She turned to Nicolai nodding slightly showing that she was willing to listen and follow the lead but the fire in her eyes let him know that it was in no way dropped. She faced Reid and realized that she was in no way well enough aquantented to know just how to calm down the man. That was a mission to fix another day

Internally she agreed and cheered on each of Jean’s points even despite her own personal problems with the woman. Hmmm maybe she’d lighten the revenge she was planning as pranks for the woman instead. She let her grin loose when Jean turned to address her. With a quick breath in she let out six humanoid fog constructs. Four to lightly surround the group making it harder to attack the correct people at a distance, two to take a running start far ahead of the group.

“You’re absolutely right Jean, we should be off. I’ll trust you guys can adjust?”

Seven, eight, nine, That was enough distance now. She gripped Reverence as she started forwards trusting Jean to hold the back as the started into the forest making their way west. She’d have to keep her mind sharp and be ready for Qwin becoming a liability at any point.

Reid coughed and rolled his eyes as Grand stepped in, putting his glasses back on. He retracted his fangs back to the roof of his mouth, and crossed his arms. I was gonna pop that guy... He thought to himself. He shook out his hair, letting it fall over his eye, and looked up. Realizing how angsty and edgy he looked, he uncrossed his arms and stood up straight.

Taking his knife out of his pocket, he flipped it around and followed his teammates into the wood, looking around. "We're all gonna die." He mumbled to himself, commenting on their teamwork. Or, really, lack thereof.

Qwin/Crimson Song

As soon as Larisa put him down he just stood there and allowed everyone to move ahead of him. He didn't want to deal with anyone at this very moment. He didn't even really care that Grand explained his situation. He knew it wouldn't help because all anyone else would hear was an excuse. He dealt with this many times in his life... people. People who see you as one thing or as nothing at all because they care too much about themselves. People who judge your every action for no reason. Or judge you for your race without knowing who you are. The pain was overwhelming and he didn't even know if he would be able to feel it much longer. As he could already feel Qwin fighting to take over so he could try and fix this mess.

Though he couldn't allow that. He needed to prove to his team that he could work with them. If they couldn't work with him at his worst than they didn't deserve his best. He just needed a little help. *Hey Nova help me hold Qwin back for a while. I need to fix this my way.* *I can try but he won't be happy* *He blocks us all the time so just do it.* After finishing his inner monologue he joined the group again ready to show them what he could do. Though he still didn't like any of them. They all seemed too quick to judge him. All he said was to stay out of his way. He never said he wouldn't work with them. He just likes his space in combat as he knows how crazy he could be during it.

As Larisa let out her fog he quickly moved to the far left spreading the group out. It was a bad idea to stay close together in a battle. Especially if the Grimm they were going to fight had an area attack. Plus, he could act as bait if a Grimm was going to attack. With his qin, he can take more attacks without taking much damage so it was his best strategy. Though if his team wanted him somewhere else he would listen because he needed to earn their trust somehow. Besides if he did well in battle he could rub it in their faces later for doubting him.

    North | Southpark Fields

With the issue settled, Team A moved forward. Walking through the winding road of the northern fields was like trying to climb a rock wall. The process was slow, and careful footing was needed. Naked bare land jut out from the ground at odd angles sometimes where footing was necessary, and slopes that went uphill would need to be climbed by both hand and foot before any further progress could be made. The whole time Team A moved, Grand did not say a word. He remained silent, more or less focused on his surroundings and keeping his ears open for any outside sounds.

Till finally: "We cleared this area out a long time ago." Grand informed. A small history lesson. "About 20 years ago this place was crawling with a lot of weaker Grimm. Nothing too dangerous, but nothing we wanted to leave alone. So, like exterminators hired to clear a house of pests, we did the same here. Worked in teams much like you all are. Weak Grimm may be weak. But just because a Grimm is weak doesn't mean they can't do something smart." He paused, raised a hand for the others to stop, waited....then dropped his hand and kept moving forward.

"Are all Grimm intelligent?" He didn't look back when asked and didn't wait for an answer either. "Do they all have our level of intelligence? Yes and no. Some do, in their own way, some don't in others. There are Grimm that act like wild ravenous animals and that never changes, but every now and then they have their tricks. Then there are Grimm that act like they possess human understanding and knowledge but when you meet them face-to-face they--" He paused again, raised a hand abruptly, an order to stop issued. "...", orange eyes looked into the skeleton of spiky, deadly pointed bushes then Grand turned his head and looked towards the others, right behind them.

In the distance there was a faint, barely audible crunching sound could be heard.

"We might be here." Grand cautioned. The forest was deadly silent now, and the crunching neither grew louder or got closer. His eyes narrowed, trying to get a feel of the surrounding area. He couldn't feel it. There were no eyes watching them, no pressure or force in the air that told of a possible presence, no screeching or stomping to signal an incoming attack. There was just them, the forest, a gentle and unnecessary blow of wind, and that faint, annoying crunching.

Munching Grand realized. "Feeding." He voiced. His eyes scanned the trees. "We're climbing the trees and following that sound. Don't slow down, and keep up with me." In truth he wasn't even going to go that fast. They'd just lose him before he even got half a mile.

Body enhanced, squat made and staring at a particular branch, Grandeur leaped up twelve feet into the air on both feet, sent his right foot out as he headed towards a branch then applying strength to that foot with a touch of Aura that he barely had to even think on, he volleyed off it and launched onto another. Scaling the tree like a ninja. A ninja that was trained by super monkeys.

Once he reached a certain height, Grand shot off the tree he was climbing and launched himself to another, soaring overheads he shouted, "Get up here and keep up!" And a second later. He landed on a new tree. The next right after, his shadow was slowly, gradually starting to fade.

In truth, he didn't need to go that far. He'd only moved about 400 yards northwest, when he suddenly came to a stop and when he did stop. He stopped on a branch that made his position as clear as day with how light shined off his armor and cast the smallest of glares stupidly noticeable to any eye.

When his group was close enough, the snow haired man raised a hand for them to stop. "Menyerap." Grand informed from his perch atop the trees, kneeling on one knee while his foot propped his body. "Not horrible, but they are nasty." He eyed it in silence for a second and said: "New plan. That is what you're fighting." And with a finger he pointed towards the clearing up ahead.

Munching loudly, chewing on the remains of what once was a deer, the small tiny creature, no bigger than a pillow gnawed on a bone. Chewing at ferociously while the dead remains of a decomposed deer lay on the side. Not to far away there was water. Fresh water that was neither deep or large. A pond, about four truck lengths and remarkably shallow. The tiny, quadruped with rather sharp teeth and barely any size or muscle to its name minus its shell chewed almost meekly at its leftovers, which was nothing but marrow. And as it did- it paused.

An ear twitched, that same ear raised and as its ear raised so did it's head, turning in the direction of the others. It had spotted them. Sensed them. But, given it's size, the pond of water between them and it combined with the distance it needed to cover to get to them or even reach the height they were at- the tiny creature could virtually do nothing.

Except growl. A small, pathetic growl that honestly bordered on cute.

Grand, uncaring of what his group thought of the Menyerap motioned with his hand to go. "Go kill it. Good luck."

After all, was said and done, Nic couldn't help but look back at Qwin-- Crimson as he slowed his pace to get to the back. Would that be enough to patch up the holes in this? Surely he'd have to find a time, later on, to reach out to the Chimera. If he wanted to better himself for the future, he would need to build better connections and learn to understand different situations. Something he would take into note now was that something was up with his aura, but even as Crimson quickened his pace at their sides, he didn't get a chance to say anything on the matter with the screechings.
As interesting as Qwin's aura was, he needed to focus on his surroundings. Even if First seemed unphased by the screeches, it could just be Grand's usual apathetic nature. During First's lecture on the Grimm and this forest, the cat-eared faunik set his board back onto the ground, returning to his skating despite the terrain. It was rather unfortunate since First's lecture was very interesting, but listening to it was hard to manage with all of the sounds around them trying a knot in his chest. Of course, this made him uneasy, even if he didn't say anything or show it, Grimm was still dangerous creatures and shouldn't be addressed lightly . . . Still not completely worth his weapon yet, at least he was thinking that as trees started to tumble down.
Just as the first tree started to tilt, Nic started to kick off, letting his aura flow evenly for a second before shifting a small percent into his skateboard to trigger the loaded Earth Dust. Wherever he skated, he left an Rocky Trail behind him, and when he kicked his board up, the Trail curved up as well.
"If they're charging as three, they might have adapted into using pact tactics," He called out over his skating, "That typically means they're stronger as a group, meaning they have a weakness they need numbers to make up for." Which is what he was going for right away. He knew they could probably smash through the rocky formations his Dust formed, but it would create some division, especially if he used the fallen trees. They would also need pact tactics since none of them were strong enough to handle a Grimm all on their own, but since there were 3 of the monsters and 5 of them, if they created a division between the three and took them out one at a time they could manage a slight split . . . Assuming they would be able to quickly combo their abilities into a stronger attack.

Able frowned and gave a slight pout after being told he'd have to wait to look at his teammates gun. He wanted to toy with it and maybe add something. He quickly went back to giving a smile when he heard his team getting ready to go. He followed the professor as he lead them up some hefty terrain. He normally would be excited about the things around him but the walk was quite long and boring. Plus no one else was really talking so he thought that he should stay quiet for the time being. Eventually when they made it to a certain point, the professor started talking, his voice breaking the silence and white noise. He told a short story explaining how the paladins became exterminators for grimm. Able was dying to ask what armor and weapons they had but he thought that if he did then Ivan would get mad at him again, and that would be bad for the mission.

Able's smile widened when the professor said they were taking the trees from that point. He watched in aw as his teacher jumped up to a branch that was pretty far up. He heard him yell out to keep up. Able took that as a command to go as fast as he could. Able tilted his head and gave a peace sign as he smiled. "Yeah, try and keep up! If you can't, you have to let me make you something that will make you keep up!" He quickly stuck his tongue out and then flicked his hand towards the branch that the professor landed on, after he threw his hands out the same thin strong wire shot out wrapping itself against the branch. He flicked his fingers and threw his arms backwards pulling himself forward having the wire find itself back into the gloves while he flew through the air. He saw the professors back fly forward as he glided through the air. When he felt his momentum dip downward he threw his arms outward again as the wires out of his gloves made there way around to trees to his sides as he pulled again. He slingshoted through the air like this until he saw the professor come to a stop, he threw his hands together towards the same tree, the one behind the professors, and pulled himself up onto the branch behind the professor.

Able stood and made hand binoculars to try and focus in on the grimm. It was kind of cute in a really weird way. But even though it wasn't big or too scary the professor was eyeing it like it was bad enough to fight, so it must be slightly strong. Able waited for someone else to say something or make a move before doing anything, he wanted to secretly watch the others before fighting, so he could examine them and work on something for them later.

Finally.” The thrill of the hunt was upon them, and not a second too soon. She had never heard so little said with so many words. Grimm were not stupid. Was that so hard to say? Grand certainly lived up to his name with his verbosity. As the tree fell upon them, her reaction was swift, but measured, with no wasted action or effort. The air around her sparked and shimmered blue, and her spear burst into flame, enveloping its point with wild, raging fire. With a sweep of her spear, she brought to life her will and her soul, the flames that consume all- an image of a dragon cast upon the flames that erupted from her spear. With the roar of a terrible fire, the dragon raced forwards, devouring the oncoming tree. With another sweep of her lance, the dragon rose into the air, and dissipated into the atmosphere, leaving none but cinders and ashes scattering across the land. A tongue of flame wreathed itself around her spear’s three points as Jean returned her spear to a neutral position, directing it towards the forest. Whether her team mates decided to give her some idea as to where the targets were or the beast to erupt from the shade, she would adapt to it. As it stood, she had no vision- wildly swinging her spear around and razing this place to the ground was an exercise in futility, and would mean certain death, if not for her, then her team.

She listened to Nicolai’s advice, nodded slowly. Three, huh? If the enemy split to pursue five of them, then there would be one person going solo against a beast. She bit her lower lip, and waited for Larisa’s call. Or anyone else’s call, really. If the Chimera wanted to prove his worth, or lack thereof, this was a good a time as any.

Their trek was slow-going. He hated this tension, and knew not how best to break it. A few friendly words here and there, passed among friends. But that was it. He was cheerful still. A small rift between people was not enough to dampen his spirits. Besides, above all else, he was excited. So when Grand - well, was it proper to call the apparition before them 'Grand'? - announced that they had arrived, Nua felt the hair on the nape of his neck straighten. "What a potent stench..." Nua thought aloud, pinching his nose through the worst of it. A shiver crawled down his spine as he heard the wicked howls, dripping with malice.

"Let's stay together!” Nua called out to his friends over the cackling howl that seemed to be drawing nearer. Grand's advice seemed sound. He was the expert, after all. Without fear, he stepped forward. They should meet this beast head-on! Surely, their combined might was enough to overcome whatever monstrosity lurked nearby. But what manner of creature was it? He had not heard tell of it before Grand's anecdote about the dangers of its teeth. Nor could he spot it amidst the craggy landscape.

"So it's a game of hiding-and-seeking! Then... What should we do?" He turned, freshly out of ideas, towards his companions with a sheepish look. He had considered, for the briefest moment, splitting open the earth with his fists, but... That would've probably caused more problems than it solved. It was frustrating! He couldn't be of any use at the moment, and so would resign himself to relying on his teammates for now. After all, he had the utmost faith in them!

If Faris could pick between fighting Grimms in a forest and walking in a group into a forest looking for Grimms, he would pick the former.

Though the professor was with them, and Nuadha and Seong were also a part of his group, he couldn't help but feel nervous. The clouds before a storm sometimes are scarier than the storm itself. During the walk deeper into Southpark Field, Faris stayed close to Nuadha and the professor, his eyes darting around his surrounding without a pause. Maybe it was due to his nervousness, but he didn't attempt to talk much, and when he did, his answer was curt and short. The fact that attempted conversations fell short only made the situation more awkward and tense. Besides...

Faris glanced back at Emi, the fox Mystic. Her earlier reaction with Eva made it clear that she didn't intend to get close with the group. Seong's continuous mutters didn't help. Well, neither did his tentative and uncertain glances. He was at lost on how to best approach Emi, but she was the last thing in his mind once they started their walk deeper into Southpark Field. The smell of urine and appearances of bone were unpleasant. Not as bad as some alleyway in Aivu, but he couldn't help but to use the collar of his coat to cover his nose.

When Professor Second announced their arrival, he let off a sigh out of relief. At least Grimm was a substantive entity. Something he knew exist and a focused object of fear, unlike the air of uncertain danger during their journey earlier. He listened attentively to the professor's explanation about the Grimm they were supposed to fight: Aooma. From his explanation, they would be fighting a single one? But why did he call it they numerous time? Maybe the Aooma could split? Before he could ask, a howl echoed throughout the field, and the professor vanished. Not good.

"T-the professor said not to get split up, right?"

His right hand was full with his chain, so Faris opted to open his left hand instead. Hazy red threads suddenly appeared around his wrist in a loop, with the free end floating on his palm. There were four threads in total, waving like snake out of a snake charmer pot.

"If the thread is around our waist, we can know where each other are easily, right...?"

He was unsure of how the others would react to his idea, but with the howl and cackle getting closer, he was too nervous to wait for their answer. The threads looped itself around Seong, Nuadha, Eva, and Emi respectively, or tried to. It floated slowly in the air, so evading it wouldn't be too hard. The thread was made of something similar to nylon, but as it was made of his Qin, he could adjust the length of the threads with his thought. Maybe it was because of his lack of knowledge about them, but Faris hadn't been able to make links from dust material. The nylon was not as strong, but it had to do.

"Ah, please don't move far away too suddenly; I can increase the threads' length, but we will get pulled..."

Terra Ursula

Although she had initially been the first take a step towards the Grimm infested forest, Terra soon fell behind her teammates. The main reason for this wasn’t the difficult to access path –although unsteady terrain paid small a role too. No, the main reason Terra didn't manage to properly keep up was thanks to her turning her head to look behind the group every so often, as if afraid of a surprise attack. Although she was trying to keep a calm, uninterested-looking font, all of Terra senses were on the edge. Underneath the messy twin buns on her head, her bear ears twitched every time any noise coming from afar could be heard.

The brown haired girl was too busy keeping track of her surroundings to properly listen to what professor Grand. had to say – that is until said man made a pause in his speech, just in time for a faint crunching sound to be heard in the distance. Terra’s hand clenches in anticipation, pointy claw like blades emerging from her gauntlets. She didn’t need to be told twice to understand that Grimm were near.

Terra was quick to turn on her heel and go after the professor as soon as the words ‘follow me’ escaped his lips – she knew she was probably going to fall behind -again- even if she went at full speed. Using her gauntlets to climb the nearest tall tree she could find, Terra followed Grand’s lead with big, ungraceful, aura-boosted leaps. She couldn’t help but feel a pang of jealousy flow through her at seeing Able move so freely thanks to his inventions. The hard work she and her aunt had put into restoring her mother’s gauntlets seemed to pale in comparison...

“This is not the time to be a pessimist. Focus on the task at hand.” The girl though as she finally came to a stop, her lime green eyes resting upon a pair of small, almost cute-looking Grimm feeding on a deer’s corpse. “Why couldn’t you be human-sized Grimm?” Terra found herself wondering aloud. To her teammates –who had no idea her Qin was easier to use for creatures closer to her size- it might have sounded like she had gone mad or had a secret death wish... but the girl could care less about explaining that right now. “How are we approaching this?” She asked her teammates, expecting one of them to take charge or at least throw in a suggestion – because there was no freaking way she was going to do that.

Reid looked up at the trees, awaiting the arrival of the Grimm. He took off his glasses and shoved them into his pocket, using his thermal vision as it was more comfortable for him. "Three of them... Wait, what is that?" Reid pointed to a large spot on one of the Grimm's backs that had a much more significant heat signature than the rest of its body. Although to anyone else, it would look completely normal. "That's probably a weak point...." After analyzing the Grimm for only a few seconds, Reid took out his knife and looked down at it. "What the..."

Reid noticed a small, but very red head signature along the entire handle of his knife. Me moved it closer to his face, looking at it. When he saw it, he was slightly shocked - It was Parseltongue writing.

"....Ssssiiahasi'eeh..." He spoke in a slow, echoey voice. When he finished saying whatever it was he was saying, the blade swung out of the knife, and fell off of it. However, attached to the blade was a long, thick chain. "UHHH..." Then, the blade suddenly thickened, extended, and rounded out, forming a spike. After that came the handle, which also became thicker, and grew grips. "WHAT JUST HAPPENED TO MY KNIFE?!" He shouted, staring down at his newly made chain whip.

  • Ivan Sablich
    North | Southpark Fields

Listening to what was being said proved difficult. Ivan's mind was divided between listening and watching for any obvious signs of approach. He'd psyched himself out for this for a long long time (it had only been a year to be exact) and he was certain he was going to keep a cool head on his shoulders and not let his emotions get the better of him or act out in rash manners.

Flinching when Prof. Grand held up his hand, was not how he wanted to start. Hearing that crunch set a shiver up his spine that was visible to the naked eye. Without even realizing it...Ivan began to sweat. A cold, nervous sweat that made him suddenly aware of how damp his socks felt and how weird sweat could be in the areas it occupied.

Terra, he noted, seemed to fare no better. Ramona he found tough to read and Able...well, Able was...uh...just Able. Needless to say, when Grand gave the order to follow, he was right behind Terra and Able. Aura enhanced bodies could do the most absurd things that no normal human could do and as Grand performed those feats, his mind briefly sent him a recollection of the insane feat Larisa had pulled back in class.

Upon consideration, Ivan now realized...he had no idea why he had moved to save her. If she couldn't have handled a drop of 80ft, she wouldn't be here because Phil had told him literal stories and shown him actual news clippings of his own times out on the streets of Atlas and it was abundantly clear, the Academies never accepted weaklings. And if they did...there was always a reason behind it. Larisa, Ivan thought, was in fact not a weakling. Impulsive, quick to act and by the heavens a strong lass but a weakling she was not.

Snapping out of those thoughts as he landed and stopped any further movement upon Grand's instruction Ivan paused to see what it was that Grand showed them. And when he called the Grimm's name, Ivan's brows furrowed in a moment of concentration.

Menyerap he pondered the name and tested the word with a dip into his memory banks where he had stored the names of some Grimm during his personal studies with Phil. The name was familiar...but he could not say why.

“How are we approaching this?” came Terra's question.

Ivan rubbed his chin and took a few steps closer to the edge before hopping forward on a new branch to get a better view of the clearing up ahead. Down on earth, right past the large tree they were on there was a a dip in this tiny hill. That dip, led to the pond that acted as a minor barrier between one stretch of land to the other. It was more or less a giant gap between them and the Menyerap, with the pond as that gap. Which meant if they wanted to get to the Menyerap, they had to cross the pond, which when Ivan focused aura into his eyes to enhance his vision he could see was only about ankle deep for him. It would only vary for the others.

Staring at the Menyerap Ivan squinted. There was something about the tiny thing that...just seemed off. "What am I forgetting here?" He muttered to himself and pondered deeply. Trying to make gears shift to see if he could recall anything that may be important. "...water", the word came up in his mind and he spoke it aloud. "Water..." He drummed his fingers against the branch he was holding to keep himself steady, then looked at Terra, then at Able then at Ramona before his attention returned to the meek hissing Grimm. "...but what does that have to do with...Oh...OH! OH NO! SHIT!" Without a word, Ivan's entire body was caked in a glow. He jumped right off their high perch and aimed for the ground and when he landed in a patch of dirt and rolled with the land, he was briefly enveloped in the dust, out of view, only to come out in full view enveloped almost entirely in silver armor. Metal shifted, formed and was created and his torso, arms, and shins were covered in metal plates that bent and flexed with his stride only to solidify a second later

"WATEEEERRRRRRRR!!!!" He shouted like a madman dying of thirst as he ran and with a free hand he pulled out his trusted hammer. "THE WATER! DON'T LET IT GET NEAR THE WATER!" His cry echoed as he ran.

"RAMONA!" The voice was far more distant now, it could be easily noted he had given up normal running and was now using aura to boost his speed in long powerful leaps forward. "SHOOT IT!" the response followed quickly. "SHOOT! IT!"

Arms pumping, metal clad feet striding, like a armor covered madman dying of thirst Ivan ran straight for water. Deep down, a small part of him also hoped that perhaps- he could punt the Menyerap also.

Her hand never left the hilt of her blade. Though it stayed attached to her back she was ready to bring it forth at a moment's notice. The trek into the woods was quiet. Even the humans that walked ahead of her seemed overcome with nerves. She did her best to remain her composure, at least outwardly. The last thing she needed was for them to know her true emotions. The deeper into the woos they got the worse the environment became. The stench was the worst. She brought her free hand up to clench her nose shut. The smell that assaulted the group made even worse by her more acute sense of smell. Her eyes darted around nervously. The bones strewn about, the claw marks, try as she might she couldn't keep her face from betraying the fear she felt in that moment.

She could only barely focus on what the professor was saying. Vague information. Warnings. All it really did was cause the knot in her stomach to tighten even more. Her grip upon her weapon as well as her nose were so strong her knuckles began to whiten. It was becoming very apparent that she was in over her head. If she at least had someone else to rely on... Those thoughts were cut short as a cackling howl echoed throughout the forest with the professor departing soon after. Emi swiftly unhooked her weapon from it's latch, releasing her nose to hold the weapon properly in front of her. The sudden assault on her newly released nose caused her to cough and gag, stumbling back a few feet before being forced to hold her breath.

With a brief reprieve from the stench she looked around to take stock of the situation. Nua had no idea how to proceed, Seong and Eva had yet to weigh in, and Faris was sending out some threads to attach to all of them. She quickly side-stepped the thread headed for her, about to call him out on his attempt only to have her words sealed by the smell that continued to linger around them. She didn't even want to take a breath as every gulp of air was almost enough to make her heave. How the others could stand it was beyond her. If she was anyone else she might even be envious of that fact.

Her ears twitched as she forced down a gulp of air before holding her breath again. It was quiet, hidden by the echoing laugh that permeated the woods. But there was no mistaking it, her ears didn't lie, there was movement and it was getting closer. She could only assume it was the Grimm, and it did a good job of quieting it's steps. She was not surprised the others didn't notice, even she could barely hear the faint snap of branches. She once again opened her mouth to speak, but the moment the pungent air entered all that came out was another dry heave and accompanying coughs. Even so she tried to stifle out her words. "T-h" She let her weapon fall limply as she released one hand to cover her mouth. "Th-there!" But it was too late, and too vague.

The creature had already made it's way forward and as it let out it's howling laugh this time the sound grew in intensity. It bounced all around, echoing in from all directions, cascading down upon them. Her ears reflexively flattened against her head. Her weapon clattered loudly against the ground as she brought both hands up to cover her large, sensitive ears. She let out a cry and grit her teeth in pain, her legs giving out as she fell to her knees. She couldn't think of anything. Focus on anything. It felt as if her head was going to explode. All she could see was white. All she could feel was throbbing agony. Indeed it took every ounce of strength she had just to remain conscious.

Aooma

East | Fields

Nostrils flared and it could smell it. Fear. There was anxiety, hesitance and other emotions in the mix but fear was the most prominent. And it oozed from some more than others. A feat the Aooma reveled in as it laughed once more.

One, two, three, four, five. Five meat bags. Hundred and hundreds of new bones to chew on. Hundreds of different ways to rip and tear through skin, sever tendons and nibble on meat as that rich red liquid oozed from wounds. Without a second to waste, Aooma, positioned itself as it watched its screech take effect. Two tongues pocked out of either maw and licked lips before combining into one and the second it saw an opening. He attacked.

He went straight for the shortest of them. The girl that was almost its height. The other unique girl.

Pace picked up and each appendage that touched the ground pushed it forward. Drool began to ooze from the corners, left trails in the air then plopped to the ground. The fear was thick in the air. It wanted to get closer. The voice in its head warned it, told it to watch out for the one with the chains and almost immediately the run slowed and the Aooma stopped.

Now clearly in sight, it paused, eyes looking from Faris to Emi, then from the one that smelled of Giant and the other that smelled of lies.

Kill...but be careful. The voice whispered in its ear.

It listened. An eye poked out of its neck before a face formed as it turned and ran. Not forwards but it fled back into the shadows at an alarming speed, wasting a chance to attack but giving it a chance to form new openings.

The others would've heard the howl. They would know what that meant. They were it and it was them. They would come and the bloodbath would begin.

Hidden in shrubs and leaves, a second head sprouted forth, neck growing out of its own neck. Kill the second head growled a bloodthristy growl, and the Aooma knew it would. It would feed them both. It would feed the entire litter. These five would feed it nicely even though it never hungered, it was the satisfaction out of the kill it desired. A satisfaction that would be sated but sated in time. The man, Second, would be there and he would be watching. He would do something but the Aooma did not know what.

It needed to wound the five quickly. It needed to be smarterer.

Kill the two heads growled together and now the second head had sprouted arms of its own and set those arms to the ground. Kill them all, the second head snarled in slobbery grin as it grew a body with the separation from its other as they came out of their hiding place, no longer one but two of them-- nothing more than a distant dot to the intruders as they emerged from where they hid.

But with the others on their way, there would be more.

Aooma, Leader, looked to its twin Scouter, and snarled a single order. The order was understood and Scouter snarled a biting remark that could only be understood between the two. Scouter turned, moved towards the group as they recuperated and then its muscles wriggled under its skin like worms in a bag.

Veins slightly appeared on its legs and it launched itself like a bullet forward in one direction, while Leader launched itself in another.

Scouter aimed for the little one, known Emi but also had its attention on Nua.

Leader aimed for Faris at a surprising gallop of speed. Covering distance in long quick, powerful strides that made the lightest of sounds. It charged right at Faris claws extending, drool flying, fur shaking with every stride and every second the wind passed over it.

Scouter closed the distance first. He was a good arm's distance away from Emi and Nua and it held one claw up to deliver a terrible slashing. While they may have been annoyed by the smell of urine, it smelled true filth. The mark of the Bearers. A mark that needed to be erased.

Just as it was ready to bring it's claw down and slice into Emi's chest (if it even could manage more than a nasty scratch), Leader attacked Faris.

The attack on Faris was not done directly, but done indirectly. Leader stopped and screamed. A scream so strong it might as well have flipped a car and sent it skidding several feet back much like one flipped a table. When that scream ended. It turned on the liar. The human girl. And then it attacked.

Qwin/Crimson Song

Crimson paid little attention to Grand's speech as he found it predictable. Only an idiot would think that Grimm are mindless creatures and don't evolve. They maybe soulless bastards but they are good at what they do, killing. Though the atmosphere around them did put him on edge. Especially when the loud sound suddenly stopped.

After Grand finally stopped talking as if on cue the trees started to fall. Crimson didn't even move as they started to fall toward him. He just smiled and swung his two hammers together. As soon as they struck each other a loud concussive sound boomed from them tearing any tree in front of him into pieces. He then turned to see most of his group standing around most likely waiting for someone to have a plan. "Hey, princess we are gonna need your fog here. It will be easier to separate the Grimm if they can't see. If we can separate them it would be easier to take them out one by one. And kid good for you but you need to focus on the fight. This is a life and death situation." As Crimson talked he moved around trying to make sure he had eyes on a place no one was currently watching. He also hoped the girl was also able to hide smell in her fog as it would be useless if the Grimm relied on smell and not sight. If they relied on sound he was already prepared to use his hammers to disorientate them. There were just too many factors that could come into play here and they needed to be prepared for all of them. One mistake could lead to their death.

It was significantly harder to ignore a person by hiding when said person was insistent on speaking with you. He figured he could just hide behind Nua and Faris most of the time, especially with how tall they were. He didn’t intend to give the woman his name and probably would have ignored the second if he didn’t take a certain pride in him and Min’s work. Still he didn’t really get the chance to before Grand cut in. Uhhh no actually maybe he’d tell her after then.

He was quick to put up his noise reducing headphones up and securing his goggles as he got into his zone. He picked up Revolution up holding it ready as he made his way into the forest. He wasn’t going to let himself be surprised, when they came he’d be good and ready for them. Which as it standed wasn’t all that hard as the scent of urine already made him want to hurl. He could feel his nose curl up as the scent got thicker and decay entered the mix. God he’d never dealt with an area this bad, was Grand sure they could handle this?

“An Aooma... That was the uh Self-Cloning Grimm wasn’t it? Fucking hell.”

He could feel the goosebumps raising as he listened in to grand’s extra class lecture of the Aooma. Well if they could almost rip apart Grand then he’d be a happy meal to the fuckers. And did Grand just fucking disappear? That fucking asshole, care more about your students. A deep laughter was getting closer and closer. Yup he was not sticking around in the open, he started to scout the area for the best location to climb up and get a vantage point for. Ah there yes. He started climbing near immediately after finding one.

“Nua, Faris I’m headed up. I’ll cover you guys from above, we stop them here at the edge of its territory so it’s less familiar with it.”

He just barely recognized their voices as he started activating his qin starting his climb up. He felt threads of Faris’ attach as he got around a third of the way up. Nearly immediately after he felt a boom go out, fuck that hurt but at least he was still stuck to the tree. He scurried up the rest of the way trying to find a sturdy branch to gain a better view of the beast.

He was quick to scan the area honing in on where the sound came from. He kept his body attached firmly to the branch as he lined up his scope. After all it’d be a problem if he did that again. That fucker was going down before he had the chance to get another attack on his team. He shot twice, one aiming at a headshot and another far behind the beast readying to redirect it if the first missed.

The creature showed itself at last! Finally the fight may begin in earnest, Nuadha thought as he readied for battle, only to lose his footing in the face of the Grimm's earthshaking shout. He righted himself, taking a breath to marvel at what had just happened. "Incredible..!" There was no time to stand idly, however. Another Grimm - or was it the same? Were there multiple? Certainly, there must be! - was on its way to attack Emi. She made no noticeable effort to defend herself, so Nuadha rushed to defend his friend when she could not, it seemed, defend herself, to intercept the Grimm before it could reach her and do her harm. Don't worry, Emi! Back then, I promised I would protect you, too!

He braced for impact, but the impact never came. The sound of two shots rang out, and suddenly, miraculously, the danger had passed, if only for the moment. He knew at once who to thank for this. Spying Seong in his perch high above the rest, Nuadha waved vigorously. It was such a wonderful thing to be in the company of such admirable friends. Friends... Oh, that's right! He turned to address the Fox on the ground. Stooping over her, he brushed a few idle strands out of his face before offering a helping hand. "Please, get up if you can! Our battle has not yet concluded!" He smiled at her, despite the din of the other Grimm's howl, which grated like sharp rocks inside his skull.

Tears rolled down the fox's cheeks, droplets raining to the ground as she shook her head in a vain attempt to dissipate the pain. Dull to her surroundings she never even noticed the Grimm charging at her. Her eyes were screwed tightly shut, her hands holding her ears tightly against her head. There was no way she'd have noticed the attack in this situation. It was only the sudden bang that caused her to slowly open an eye to peek out forward. Before her stood the green-haired giant and a dead grimm. She slowly shifted her gaze upward, her position on the ground making the boy positively tower over her to the point that she had to look almost straight up to see his face. Though murky, his words did manage to filter their way through to which she violently shook her head, once again screwing her eyes shut. "I can't! I can't! I can't! It hurts too much!" The words shot out in rapid succession through pained breaths.

As if to emphasize that fact the Grimm attacking Faris let out another colossal howl. Even though it was not aimed at her the sound was still unbearable causing her to let out another cry of pain as she drove her forehead into the ground. She couldn't stand it, every time the pain began to subside the creature let out another ear-splitting howl. Her breath came in ragged gasps. Caught between holding her breath as the pain coursed through her and her body's desperate need for oxygen. Tears continued to flow freely, wetting the ground beneath her face. "M-make it stop! Please!" She was getting desperate for relief. In the brief reprieve between howls the only thing on her mind is that she couldn't handle another one of those screeching cries. The very thought of it letting out another howl caused her to put even more force down on her ears. One way or another she'd have to do something to deal with the agony assaulting her.

An attack?

When he saw Emi pointing at something a bit away from the group, Faris quickly turned his face toward it. What he saw made his heart pump even faster. The Grimm. Before he could react, the Grimm let out a blood piercing scream. Not good. Sound-based attack? He didn't bring his earmuff! The scream wrecked branches and bushes. Faris crouched to avoid the worst of it.

In a desperate attempt to prevent himself from deafness, Faris used his aura to protect his ear from being damaged. Ringing voice, like that of a mosquito when it flew nearby was the only thing he could hear for a while. Wow, it looks like a scary wolf, such ludicrous thought passed through his mind as he stared blankly at the coming Aooma. The scream had put him in a kind of daze, and if not for the Aooma suddenly stopping, Faris was certain he would receive the title IM. In Memoriam.

Faris didn't know why the Grimm suddenly stopped, but he wouldn't question its generosity. He snapped out of his daze. His ear was still ringing. He had enough mosquito buzzing sound in his head, thank you. Following his intention, the chain on his right hand started to flow in a circular pattern in the air around him to create a defensive barrier

Glancing to his left wrist, he saw that one of the threads was heading off backward at a slightly upward angle. That would be Seong and his gun. Two threads were heading to his immediate surrounding -- Nuadha and Eva, he said to himself -- while one was laying limp. Emi's thread. He wished that she didn't evade, but he had no time to attach another thread. The Aooma reserved his schedule for the afternoon without his consent.

Speaking of Aooma, it was giving Faris a live demonstration on why Professor Second called it 'they' instead of 'it' earlier.

The Grimm could split itself! One headed toward Emi and Nuadha's direction, but the original Aooma ran straight for him. The chain rotated with increasing velocity, ready to launch off toward the Aooma the moment it leaped toward him. But it never did.

Instead, it let off another scream, more concentrated than the previous one. Faris lowered his body in order to lower his centre of gravity, but the force behind it was more than what he expected. He stumbled behind, his chain went into disarray as it grazed against the ground; He had controlled it using himself as its center of rotation, but it proofed to be his downfall. The Grimm was cunning. And it was now running toward Eva.

"Eva! Jump!"

He shouted at the end of his voice as he swiped his chain against the ground toward the Grimm and Eva's direction. Aooma relied on speed. If he could hindered its movement, defeating it would be easier.

Field & Battle (Vocal Version) || Larisa’s CS File
Part of her found it slightly hilarious that Ried was so adamant that they had no chance, yet the other part of her agreed in every way. There was an unease in her heart about going into battle with teammates that didn’t trust each other with their lives. She wasn’t fearful for her own life, if it came down to it if she was alone it would be easy enough to book it. Her fog was quite good for that, if they were more used to being a group then that out would be useful to them all. She was careful to listen in for all sounds relying more on her own hearing than the blocked forest view ahead.

Part of her wondered just who Grand was trying to surprise with this knowledge. She’d seen some very intelligent Grimm before, ones that identified your weak points and took joy in abusing them. There was a colony back home that were a constant threat to the kids, only held back by the sheer power of Lady Ambrosia while the parents were away. If she’d learned one thing about the Grimm is was to never underestimate them lest you set yourself up for failure.

It was this attention to detail that allowed her to be quick on her feet to dodge out of the way of the failing tree. Jean and Nic were quick to take up the assault as well protecting the others. Through the smoke her vision was limited but the area above was clearer in view. She noted all the positions of her team before releasing the fog clones and let it spread over the area around them. Ah there they were.

She ran around the figures that were obviously the grimm who would now be unable to sniff out the others. It’d be hard to keep track of them all since she didn’t exactly know how they fought but it seemed that she may have to take a more support role if they were bad at keeping up. At the very least they won’t be able to surround them now. Jean and Qwin were the closest but she still didn’t really know much about Qwin.

“Jean, Qwin five meters forwards at 10, 12, and 2. Nic, Reid same thing 7 meter forwards. Careful with that weapon if you aren’t used to it Reid.”

She went forwards swinging her blade with both hands downwards on the nearest Grimm thickening her aura in preparation of a counter. Her stance firm and ready to jump back if she felt her team getting to close to each other with their swings.

Eva felt extreamly uneasy. She was not in the best company to fight in right now, everyone was on edge with eachother. She had seen it a few too many times, a lack of trust can get a whole squad killed. Especially when they can't trust each-other in key moments. Thankfully Grand cut in before he could respond, from the way he was looking at her she doubted it would have been anything except 'Screw off'. But Grands rant was almost no better, it was all about philosophy. Then the 'don't worry' of these test. She didn't count on him helping.

The howls made Eva stand to attention. She took off her vanity coat and let it hit the floor like it was a worthless rag. Then focused her ability; her arm becoming a large red blade shape. Then it started to harden, looking more like a blade. Unlike the rest of her skin it was dark red. The edge was razor sharp on this blade, but nearly unable to be dulled. As the roars drew closer Eve started to focus more and more energy into her own body. Hardening more of her body to put her in fighting shape. It was tiring to do but once she did it she could hold it for a while. Eva's whole body became a more reddish tint in skin-tone, her open hand was a dark red.

Then a few seconds after Eva stopped preparing the threads wrapped around her waist. She appreciated the extra thought but it could hurt them in the long run. She would just have to see. Either way her team seemed to be finished preparing. Just like that it all started. It came from the bushes and started it's laugh. Eva immediately covered her ears with her hands. Before starting to form her ears to close themselves up on her body. It rendered her completely deaf but it made her unable to be affected by the screams.

A core sense taken away Eve was relying on sight alone. She opened her eyes to just be knocked back a few feet by a force, it must have screamed again. Landing upright she looked back up and analyzed her surroundings and as she predicted things were going to shit fast. The fox was on the floor in pain, the green haired guy was trying to protect her. Then the Grimm was running at her to attack, She swung her blade at it as it ran hoping to knock it off balance for the killing blow. If the hit connected or didn't connect she would still go for a second attack. Stabbing out, holding up her left hand while thrusting her body forward for extra protection.

Then a chain hit her legs hard. Making her drop to her knees with a muffled yelp. Being completely deaf there was no way to hear the warning. Eva scrambled back up swinging whenever the Grimm got closer. Keeping a close eye on it, she rose to her feet quickly.

Grand’s history lesson was lost on Ramona as she put her Sensor Aura to the maximum, taking even the slightest of sudden changes in their surroundings, even so, she just barely caught the crunching sound the moment he raised his hand. Fainted but not too far ahead. As soon as his brief order to follow was issued, Prof. Grand launched onto the closest tree with little regard for their ability to follow.

With a groan, the elf strapped her weapon, a long, heavy and especially not suitable as climbing gear one on her back and grabbed the nearest branch. Ramona was no stranger to hardship, she can lie for hours under the desert heat or cold winds of a barren night, but jumping around like a monkey with a big rifle on her back was just counterproductive for a sniper. She could meet the requirements at least with suitable gears prepared beforehand, but the gun and some of its modifications were the only things she had readily on hand. She soon found herself falling behind the group, even Terra, the one who had always spent her time behind.

After sometimes, which felt like forever to Ramona, the group finally stopped before a clearing. Catching her breath, the elf heightened her vision sense to check what Grand was pointing at. A small creature, no bigger than a rabbit, a menacing aura, however, can be felt from the little monster.

Able paused, and so did Terra, asking for suggestions. She was expecting Ivan to take the initiative, but he seemed to be troubled by something while mumbling under his breath.

“This is what I’ll do.” Said Ramona, still in the progress of calming her breath. “I’ll shoot the shit out of it and we can get off this tree, walking out of here like people.”

Ramona sat down on a branch, pushing her back to the tree while her foot positioned on a raising part of the branch. After fixing herself in one stable position, the sniper pressed the rifle against her shoulder, cheek on the stock and the barrel rest on her raised knee. Breathed in, breathed out, then in again. The small monster was placed neatly in the crosshair. She was ready to pull the trigger.

All of a sudden, Ivan shouted loudly.

Ramona flinched. What was that about? Is he worried that it would hide in the water? Ramona wasted another beat, she was uneasy not knowing the environment or the target. She quickly considered her options and switched the element converter to Earth. Earth element bullet isn’t as deadly with the burning and explosive effects of Fire, but solid mineral bullets upon impact would break into pieces, possibly wound and slow it down at least if missed.

The Grimm had started to move toward the pond, Ramona doubted she can correctly estimate its speed and pattern of movement before it reaches the water. She would have to gamble on her luck. Shifted the gun slightly, Ramona pulled its trigger.

  • Second

    East | Southpark Fields

One dead, eight more to go. Looking up past the fight below Second focused his eyes on the distant horizon to see if he could spot anything new. Unwanted guests or visitors who may decide to participate in the fight would not be welcomed. And while he had no intentions of particularly helping Team C, he wouldn't sit by and watch them get severely injured if things ended up going that far.

Getting up on his tree branch and performing a brief stretch to waste a bit more time, Second turned his attention westward where he spotted Seong stared for a second, then shifted to where he could see the others.

"Welp", he sighed, "guess I should go help out." A there was a pop from one last stretch and with a simple hop off his branch onto another he was scaling branches back to ground level, not that he could be seen with or without aura applied to the eyes. The only benefit of this form was that it gave complete invisibility, the demerit was that it prevented physical application in certain aspects.

The second after Second's feet touched the ground he had cleared the football field distance just as the Aooma had turned its attention to Eva, but a minute close to two right after Seong had killed Scouter. About thirty seconds after Emi had issued her complaint to Nua. Invisible and impossible to see to the eye, Second knelt down by Emi's whimpering side and then- he became transparent and visible yet again. One arm lifted the child up by the waste and ignored any possible protests she might have, a free hand literally picked up her weapon.

"Nua." Second tapped the giant on the shoulder. "I'll bring this one back in a few. Need to get her away from the sound before she ruptures an eardrum." Then without another word, while lifting her own massive weapon with his other arm, Second retreated with Emi in a burst of speed and vanished down a path out of view in nothing more than a few seconds.

Once he'd reached a far enough distance the whoosh of wind and motion all came to a stop, and he knelt down and dropped Emi on the ground as gently as possible. "This should be far enough", he turned to the fighting she probably couldn't see but he certainly could. A finger came up and tapped his own ears while the hand that carried her weapon placed it up against a tree trunk that had several twists in it. "You're letting your paranoia get the better of you." Second said without turning to the Mystic's direction, a large part of him didn't think she could even hear him.

Kneeling down in front of Emi in the section of the east side they were in; where the smell still lingered although much fainter, where the sounds of the fight couldn't be heard as clear and were much more distant, Grand pushed leaves out of the way with his bare hand then tapped Emi's shoulder with his other so she could watch what he was doing.

A finger hovered over the ground. A single finger. That finger emitted sparks of crackling energy. Glowing blue energy that almost looked like fire but in truth wasn't appeared then with supernatural speed, Grand began to write upside down. Upside down for him, perfectly normal for her. And as he wrote, the message came forth:

"When you heard the echoing, the laugh of the Aooma the first time, the very first thing you should've done regardless of whether you knew what it could do or not, was to slightly dampen your hearing as a precaution. As a Kitsune, we both know your hearing is above the others. I brought you here because I wanted to give you a challenge you couldn't fight alone. Given how sensitive your ears are, I thought you'd already dampened your hearing in the first place but it seems I was wrong to think that. If you'd done it earlier, you wouldn't be suffering as much as you are now."

He paused, looked at her. Then continued writing.

"I get you're not comfortable with my kind--"

    That was a lie.

He was very well aware of her background; the bullying, the names she had or hadn't been called, the betrayals, and more. He'd read her file. Had went to her old school himself. Haven had done their research. All of their files and each student here had research done on them. Some kept private, others more open. And while Second would never say he understood how she felt. He could say he understood her mentality and her reasoning for feeling how she did. This was not his first time dealing with a student or colleague like this. The type of person who shared a general dislike for not one particular species of human but all the species relating to humanity in general no matter what their heritage was or who they were.

After all. One of his own teachers back in the day hadn't liked humans and did a very poor job of hiding it in her work. It was too bad it took two months of enduring and one bad incident before said teacher had been fired. At least Emi, wouldn't need to worry about that now.

Because Second (and Grand by extension) wasn't going to let foolish xenophobic tendencies let someone else get killed.

"--but you need to focus, because the only reason that Aooma went after you first is because it knows you wreak of paranoia."

"...", he paused and the writing continued. "Focus on your ears and concentrate on lowering the number of decibels you're hearing while increasing the strength of your eardrums. If you focus on reducing the sensory information you're receiving, it should work. You're a Brute whose a focus on durability, this should be simple for you."

Getting up he gave her space she needed, and waited before looking back to the fight outside. "Once you're ready, I'll drop you off."

Fight Back || Seong’s CS File
As a long range gunner the one thing Seong prided himself in most is his own senses. That being said it was giving a demonstration of why that wasn’t always a great thing. For someone who was so quiet on the way over the kitsune was quick to show their lack of use. Honestly it was was probably for the best Grand stepped in and got her out, people that couldn’t handle this shouldn’t be in the way. At least with her off the battlefield Nua would have less distractions. Hopefully she stayed away, less people to cover for.

He turned his view hunting down which seemed the leader of the pack, at the very least it was the source of the scream, from this distance there would be no clear line of a shot. He shot three at the wildly towards the creature intending for at least one to hit each coated in his aura glowing a pretty pink. One, two missed. Bingo one hit. Oh fuck. It was angry now, hell that last blast would have ripped him right out of this tree if not for his qin. Still hurt like fuck even through the noise reducing headphones.

He didn’t even get the chance to adjust again before he felt the tree shake. Oh those motherfuckers, he knew he hadn’t found them all yet. The real question was does he release from the branch and fall attempting to cross to another. He was never gonna make it before this fell. He released his qin and coated his body in aura before jumping down aiming his blaster at the Grimm below. Three, two, one, BAM. At this close a range the recoil sent him flying back as he unloaded a full crystal’s worth of fire dust in an explosive package.

    “Take that you fuckers...”

He barely got the words out before he landed hard on his ass, Revolution knocking him in the stomach as he did. Fuck even with the aura defense that fucking bruised. He was glad he didn’t use too little of he’d be a mess of broken bones. Still no time to waste. He was quick to get situated in an underbrush scanning the area for the nearest Grimm.

Even through the mind numbing pain she could feel something touch her. Her eyes shot open, seeing the professor just in time to watch him effortlessly hoist her from the ground. She instinctively offered some meager resistance, but that quickly settled down. With her mind feeling like it was about to burst through her skull she was in no position to act like her usual self. Soon enough the speed with which Grand moved carried them far from the battle. Even as she was set upon the ground she kept a white-knuckled death grip on her ears. That kind of pain didn't just vanish immediately. Still, from her position on the ground she looked up at the professor, watching through teary eyes as he placed her sword against a nearby tree and pointed to his own ears. Though muffled she could hear the man speak. Although actually making out what he said wasn't the easiest. It sounded like more lecturing, but then that might've been her own bias projecting what she thought he was saying.

The little fox watched intently as the professor came and knelt before her, her eyes shifting down as he began to write in glowing letters using his finger. As she read along her brows furrowed. Dampen her hearing? If that sort of thing was possible she wouln't be in such agony! She was about to call the professor on his bullshit when the man began writing again. Reading along her disgruntled, pained look never ceased. It hurts to even read, to even think, and he was asking her to do something impossible. A whimpering groan slipped out as she closed her eyes, shaking her head. "I-I can't just reduce my hearing!" She forced out a biting remark, finally having enough of this written lecture. Sure her Qin could enhance her body but there were limits. It's not like she could enhance or dampen her eyesight, or her smell or anything. So would she be able to protect her ears?

Still, the idea of relieving the pain was an enticing one. Even though she thought it was impossible the desperate need for relief overruled that. People are willing to try anything to get rid of severe pain, and Emi was no different. Emi took several deep breaths, trying to calm herself and set aside the pain long enough to actually focus her Qin. She gingerly released her grip on her ears, allowing them to slowly raise to their normal perky positions as a faint golden light wrapped around her ears. Slowly the pain began to dim as it wasn't just her ears she was strengthening. As the pain lessened her attempts at reinforcing strengthened. Not just her ears, but her mind, and her nose, all the things that had limited her in this fight. If she wanted to actually be useful she needed those parts of her to be as durable as anything else.

After several minutes her eyes slowly fluttered open as she took a brief scan to locate the professor. Looking up at the towering man her cheeks flushed an ever-so-light red. The fact that some human was able to get her on the right track was immensely embarrassing. Even so she got to her feet, brushing the dirt off her skirt as she turned her attention quickly away from the man. There was a few seconds pause before she let out a little cough. "S-seems like I could do it." In truth it wasn't even that hard. You don't do something hard for the first time in a few minutes while under duress. That fact just made it even worse. "Anyways, take me back to the fight!" She quickly spat out as she turned a nasty glare at the teacher. As if blaming him for her apparent weakness and need for this impromptu lesson.
