The monster stopped short in its track. For a moment Ramona had her hopes up that her attack was more effective than she had thought. But the accursed creature so gladly proved her wrong, from the ground, it raised a wall of dirt that if not able to discourage any ranged attack then could completely hide it away from the attackers from distance. Then effortlessly, it sent that wall of dirt Able’s way before starting to dig deep into the ground. But Ramona knew she was lucky, she could swear for a second, its gaze was set directly at her before being distracted by Able. Ramona was a positive thinker, she did expect to end the once small creature with one shot at the beginning after all.

The sniper girl thought hard about her options, something she would advise Ivan to do as she watched him dived into the hole and grab the Grimm’s tail like it was his dearest one with as much stupidity and passion one often pours into love itself. She already had enough to account for without being confused by Ivan’s unfathomable boldness. The situation indeed wasn’t in Ramona’s favor. The Grimm had buried itself deep into the ground save for its tail, and Ivan would have to give in soon.

Ramona could burn them both inside the hole with her explosive bullet and see which one’s armor is more heat resistant. Ivan would get mad for sure if he’s still alive to complain, and her grade could suffer for that. She also could jump down from the tree and run toward the Grimm to have a better shot, but that would mean being closer to the beast, and she didn’t want to be anywhere on the ground when it finally gets free from Ivan’s grip. Ultimately, the best option for her was to wait until she had a better chance.

She called to her other teammates “Do something to help Ivan. I will try a shot at closer range.”

The elf sighed and flung the gun on her back. A silver light enveloped her legs, with some basic aura effect, she flung herself again between the tree until she got to the one closest to the Grimm and Ivan.

Jean
Light The Fire Up In The Night
They didn't have time to celebrate. Even before Teach #2 started speaking, Jean already felt the ground beneath her tremble as she extracted her spear. The remaining Jitters were gone. Did they retreat to call for backup? That was ridiculous. Grimm weren't stupid, but to call for back-up that wasn't their own kind was unprecedented, to say the least. Again, she reminded herself that thinking wasn't going to get her anywhere. When it came to the Grimm, action was all that mattered. With a leap to the nearest tree, and a kick off to send herself further up in the canopy, she was gone from the ground, perching herself atop a sturdy branch.

The answer seemed so simple, almost insultingly so. Get rid of the rein-holders, and the other beasts would be left blundering about. Chaotically and rather roughly, yes, but blundering and without actual command. But what was her team thinking of? Taking out the brutes first? At Nicolai’s suggestion, she gave a horrified expression, and cradled her spear. “Not Mr. Spears-A-Lot! He’s fragile, just like my own heart!” Her expression relaxed, and she went back to her aloof grin.

Jokes aside. You’d think that. I certainly wouldn't want to test it. My spear would survive, but I’d sooner be thrown aside like a ragdoll than stopping one of those two-ton monsters in their tracks.” Jean shrugged. “I don’t like thinking a lot myself, but I suppose we can start by trying to snipe the Grimm.” Jean shifted her weight slightly and glanced beneath her, her mind working out the exact distance of her drop, then returned her attention to her team mates. “I’ll leave you to the thinking. I’m going to go hogwild a little. Back me up if you want. See if you can’t get a good shot or hit in while I’m tearing up the dance floor.

With that, she stepped off the branch, did a little somersault, and landed gracefully on the ground beneath her, scattering the leaves and twigs beneath her into ashes with a small burst of flame on her landing. She straightened up and directed her spear at the Grimm and their pets. “Teach puts too much hope in our powers than in our skill. Time to show you just how I put the ‘dance’ in Dancing Flame! En garde!

There was a powerful squeal then an angered snort. Muscle against muscle and powerful legs pushed against large and wide arms.

Captain was the second in command or once upon a time the Burgek had been when it was a part of a larger herd before the Jiternauts came to change that and as it pushed against Nua's own attempts to overwhelm it, this little piggy only grew more frustrated with every passing second.

Push back. Get pushed. And it was a wrestle between titans. When Nua pushed, Captain pushed back and with flaring nostrils and a shake to free its tusks the smaller pig shifted the giant two inches forward as powerful leg muscles flexed and moved.

Then Nua got a minor advantage and this little piggy felt itself being completely overwhelmed.

Till it dug its hooves into the ground and locked its leg muscles to keep it from being overwhelemed any further.

Terra Ursula

"You must be out of your mind Ivan ..." Terra muttered under her breath as she saw Ivan leap into the hole after the Grimm. 'You know, there are easier ways to kill yourself'... she thought, biting her bottom lip in concern as she tried to get a better grasp of the situation. The girl couldn't think of anything she could do in order to make the situation better - well ... she actually had an idea ... but it was way too crazy for her liking. How she came up with it in the first place was a mistery.

Terra remained frozen in her tracks for a few more moments before Ramona's voice finally brought her back to reality.

“Do something to help Ivan. I will try a shot at closer range.”

For some reason, Terra felt like the demand was addressed dirrectly to her ...

"I'm so going to regret this." The brunette sighed, before quickly leaping into action.

Terra ran at full speed in Able's direction, her movements fueled only by the adrenaline running in her veins. She grabbed some of the string the Menyerap has sliced and tied it tightly black together. Then, she tied one end around a sturdy looking tree and the other end around her middle. "I'm already so regretting this." Terra said again, before switching her gun gauntlets into claw mode.

With that, she was ready to take action. The bear faunus rand forward at full speed, shifting most of her Aura into her hands at she did so. She jumped and slid down the crater in a similar fashion to Ivan, untill she reached him an the Grimm's tail.

Terra didn't hesitate to plunge her claws into the beast's tail. Now, Terra may be lacking -a lot- in speed but she was definitely NOT lacking in physical strength. That, combined with the Able's string resistance, the power of her weapon and her Aura boost made slicing through the Menyerap's armour quite easy ... although Terra was having some mild concerns about whether or not she would be able to get her gauntlets back out before the string attaching her to the outside world snapped in two.

"Need a hand?" She cheeckly asked Ivan once all that was done - yup, she actually thought this was a good time for a bad joke. Once a socially inapt Terra, always a socially inapt Terra. "No, but seriously now- how much can this thing stay this size with no water?"

Dammit, he missed. He’d not accounted for the change of winds the chains created as they whipped through the air. Luckily they weren’t far off as he redirected each back. If they’d hit the dirt this wouldn’t have worked out nearly as well. While the three first shots hit the ground he’d already been ready redirecting the others one by one. This pig may be durable but everything had it’s weak spots, and typically they weren’t that hard to find. He calculated each one individually as he aimed at the pig that was wrestling with Nua. The first was sent to hit the back of the neck. A clank. Well that wasn’t right. The next two were both sent into the ears of the pig. Well okay… that just seemed to irritate it. Well… fuck it. The next he aimed right at the pig’s behind. After all if it decided to be a pain in the ass then they should be as well.

This was not really working. Hell it felt like all he was doing was irritating the thing. He started crawling down the branch aiming to shift over a few trees to gain a better view of the pig’s back. Still he couldn’t afford to move too much without the proper slack to the chain. Luckily enough he was the furthest back, which meant he’d be fine moving forwards until he passed Faris.

He reached the end of the branch he was on before leaping forwards just barely making the first leap. Fuck he needed to work on his core, his balance was still absolute shit. Heck if he didn’t have the full confidence that his qin would make up for his lacking he’d even be hesitating in this much even with how close the branches were thanks to the overgrowth of the forest. He heaved himself up landing on the branch near Faris. He called out to the taller man slightly out of breath from all the near misses he’d had along the way.

“So are we playing distraction squad today then?”

A tail. A big strong, armored tail.

This is the only thing that enveloped Ivan's vision for a long while. That, and darkness.

Whack left, whack right, and every hit left a powerful sting throughout his body. His armor protected him from heavy damage, but the smacks, bops, and brunt of each strike still hurt even if he was dimming a large quantity of the pain. For a good few seconds as Ivan was whacked like a child shook a rag doll, he wondered: What are the others doing?! then another whack came and the thought of anyone else quickly dissolved as he grit his teeth and tightened his hold.

This...was annoying. But the satisfaction he would get out of killing one of the Grimm types that had played a role in destroying one of the neighboring farms in Kokichi...would be worth all the pain in the world to know he'd done the Tawn family some form of satisfaction from the damages they had received. Even if the Grimm wasn't the same one. It was the thought that counted.

And boy had Ivan never been so happy to see Terra in his entire life. (Not that he said this out loud of course as the whacking still continued).

    CLANK

The shriek of pain and anger mixed into one as the tail ceased its thrashing and Ivan felt the limb go numb then weak in his arms. He dropped it a second after Terra's joke was uttered (one he would've found amusing if he weren't still reeling from slight dizziness), but upon hearing her question- at least in a vague manner that Ivan thought he had heard a question as he tried to recollect his thoughts- he shook his head to snap out of it, then regretted the action almost instantly as a dull ache radiated through his body.

"Uhh..." he blinked, not that it could be seen anymore behind his helmet, "an hour" the words came just as the memory was refreshed. "Menyerap's can stay in whatever size they achieve for about an hour before shifting back to normal."

Rustling could be heard and the creature slithered into the ground, a move Ivan cursed at internally as that meant he couldn't go after it but with the knowledge the creature was injured, satisfaction took a greater toll instead. And then came regret as he realized who its best targets were.

"Up!" Ivan about turned, paused as a wave of dizziness hit him and forced his knees to buckle and blink, then after fighting the strange urge to upchuck, Ivan slowly turned his attention to Terra. "We..." there was a careful pause, the dizziness fading, "gotta go up." He took a step forward, carefully this time, then paused to turn the dark slit of his eyes to Terra. "Thank you. Wasn't sure how long I could've held on if it weren't for you coming in...really, thanks." And then without another word, Ivan began his very steady, slow climb back up the trench.

Nodding at what the others had said in response, he clicked open the underside of his skateboard to pulled out the two curved halves and twist them together in a bow.
The black bow had a wavy patterned that poked out on the front into a reverse scythe blade, the design only stopping at below and above the grip for him to actually hold the contraption and lock an arrow. The board with just an attachment of a strap was swung over his shoulder as an oddly designed quiver.
The process usually was faster than this, and he didn't think he would actually end up using his weapon during this excursion so he didn't have his full set prepared. The Earth Arrows would work just fine, that would have to since he didn't have time to switch them out with anything.
The beasts below them had started charging at incredible speeds, one towards Jean, another two at the trees they were in. At least it this wasn't the same one who had nearly knocked his board into the next dimension.
Nic readied his bow, leaning over the tree far more than what was physically possible with the use of his Qin shifting his center of mass to his one foot as he aimed directly down where the beast charged. The strange arrow zipped downwards, the Dust infused with it triggering on impact, rocks formed upwards around the arrow into a stalagmite on the base of the tree where it met the dirt. He had tried to angle his shot more onto the tree to get the tip pointed at the charging creature, but this was an error he didn't have time to think about as the creature bashed itself against the tree.
Even with his Qin in effect, the shattering force of the creature out did his counterbalance and shook him off balance. Not his greatest moment, but he definitely didn't want to fall into that game of pinball down below. As soon as he felt himself lose balance, he began to shift his body around to face upwards, using his legs to wrap around the branch which ultimately led to him hanging upside down. A few of his looser arrows fell out of his quiver and plummeted down below, a few of them triggering on impact. If he had to guess, he'd say about 4 of them fell, and possibly 2.5 of them triggered, which meant at least one of the arrows were still usable.

The view from upside down was a bit disorienting, and a bit of a strain on his neck when he tried to angle himself to look around. He'd have to get himself upright to avoid getting dizzy from the blood rushing to his head, but for now, he'd be putting his training to use. Once again, Nic readied his bow, taking a second to wiggle out an arrow of his quiver to lock it in place. Ignoring the ones that had lovingly targetted the trees, he turned his attention and aim at the one that had ricocheted off a tree towards Jean. Pulling the arrow back, he steadied his breath, aiming in front of the beast's bounce, directing his aim at where the beast would be in a few seconds, which is how long the arrow's flight would take.
Releasing the arrow, the contraption soared forward just ahead of creature blasting itself toward's Jean. Upon impact of the ground, the arrow's Dust triggered, forming another Stalagmite, except this one was slightly pointed to the side in the direction Nic had fired from. He was sure it would stop the creature, might not even be enough to trip it up, but at least some of the energy being built up will be released upon breaking through the formation, or going around it. Something he hoped would be enough for Jean to get a strike in, or at least avoid being trampled by the crazy hog.

Something he doubted he would have to worry about since she seemed to have a good handle with that spear . . . He, on the other hand, as impressive as firing shots from upside down, the blood was starting to go to his head.

It was only after Nuadha charged toward one of the burgeks Faris noticed a flaw in his plan: If the burgeks are not fast enough, the chain would instead be pulled along by them. His trap would be useless. With such worries clouding his thought, Faris let his sharp eyes took the condition in the field in. Nuadha and Emi were facing a burgek each head on. His guess wasn't wrong; Emi was a strong hitter. He could see Eva on a branch, tight as a coiled spring before release. Bullets flew. Seong. With the red thread on his left wrist connected to everyone's waist, he didn't need to turn to see Seong's general location.

The battlefield shifted as time went on.

Under the torrent of bullets and Nua's overbearing strength, the burgek could do nothing but stand its ground. That was when the second burgek intervened. It went and headbutted breaking them out of deadlock. The burgeks repositioned themselves and charged again. One went back to Emi. Nuadha's enemy, however, went after Professor Second.

...Eh?

Is this a good thing or bad? The Professor wouldn't die from a charge, right? Should they help him? This isn't really part of the test, so it should be fine, right? Faris bit his upper lip. While he pondered over the matter, bullets rained once more on the burgek charging at Professor Second. A red thread on his left wrist went slack, and a figure landed on a branch near him. Seong.

“So are we playing distraction squad today then?”
"Ah..."

Right. He shouldn't hesitate at a time like this. Hesitation results in the lost of opportunity in critical moment! Faris whipped his attention back toward the battle. Nuadha was doing fine, managing to overpower the burgek once. Rather than the giant, he was more worried about the mystic, Emi. Her strength was great, but she was so small. If she got hit... he shivered.

"We can't get hit. Other than Nuadha, the rest of us would be out of battle if we get tackled. "

Faris took a deep breath and raised his voice.

"Emi! I'll slow down the burgek! Eva should be able to get a hit in once it slows down! Seong, I'll leave the Professor and Nuadha to you!"

After he said so, Faris jumped down his tree and started creating a long aura wire. As he reached out his intention, the chain on the ground slithered into action. It winded one of it end around a tree bark, while the other end looped around the burgek's hind legs, went into its own binding and formed a snare. The binding became tighter the more the burgek struggled.

A snare is an anchored noose used to catch game such as rabbits and deers. It is a very effective trap, despite being counted as one of the simplest. A snare trap consists of a suitable anchor and a strong piece of rope or wire formed into a noose. Faris' control over the chain allowed him to create nooses on the spot. A convenient way to momentarily slow down an enemy.

He was on level ground with the burgek. Faris threw open the wire in his palm and it coiled around the previous chain, strengthening the bind on the burgek's legs. With his hands, he performed a pulling motion to pull an imaginary chain and wire -- Which result in a pull on the literal chain and wire. As mentioned before, Faris hadn't completely master his Qin. He needed the help of muscle memory to use his full ability. The tree it was tied to was closer to Nuadha than Emi. It wouldn't be charging at Emi anytime soon as long as the tree hold.

Who We Want To Be || Larisa’s CS File
Unfortunately when it came down to it she really just didn’t have the range she needed. It wouldn’t matter if she was fighting with her typical group back home, after all they covered each others flaws and knew each other’s style in and out. But you made due with what you got, and more importantly you protected what you got. She knew she was going in, no overly strong pig was changing that, but she still planned to do so without dying.

She started to release her fog in large wispy gasps filling the area around her not yet directing it anywhere. She had the cover draped around them as she took in the suggestions of Nic and Crimson trying to plan for what would do the most damage with the least amount of risk. It seemed that everyone decided that it was time to wing it though as Jean threw herself into the fray and while Nicolai was shooting well to cover her he also looked ready to drop.

She yanked him back up steding him in the tree before realizing that she needed to reach the ground and fast. The pig was rocketing all over the place with the crazed Grimm knocking it around as it pleased. That one would be trouble unless they got rid of it quickly. She needed a clear line of shot if she wanted to land safely. Even then though she needed that Grimm off now. She spotted a good line of trees.

“Crimson I’ll take the Grimm. See if you can stop that pig!”

She put her full aura behind the strength of her legs. She was quick to launch herself out of the tree as she grappled a branch far above Jean. If this worked she’d knock the Grimm off in one try where she could fight. If it didn’t there was a high possibility this would hurt and she’d still have the Grimm attacking her. Still she needed to get on a melee ground with the enemy and there was no way those pigs were going down until the creatures that brought it did.

JeanInteresting. Were it a human opponent, Jean would have honoured it with a fair fight for such an unorthodox approach.

But it wasn't a human opponent, so she didn't have to. She jammed the cross edge into the ground, burying the point deep into the dirt. Grimm domesticating beasties? Grimm being intelligent beings? Don’t make her laugh! Sentient beings that they were, but intelligent species? What a bloody gaff. She would show that Teach that all he was saying, all he had said was all rubbish. Her muscles tensed, her crystal spear shone brightly, and her Aura lashed around her violently. But there were no flames. None around the lady, none on her spear. It was almost as if she was taunting the Burgek, waiting for it to get close enough, until--

The dirt in front of her exploded, as if it were filled with TNT, erupting into a pillar of fire, showering the area in a cloud of dirt and cinder, the bright flame blinding the hog. Utilising the force behind the explosion to send her flying backwards, Jean flipped, then kicked off a tree, utilising the same pinballing method the hog had been using. She spun, and swung her spear underneath her, planting her foot onto one arm of the cross. “Welcome to Speartown! Population: your face!” Driving the spear deep into the snout of the hog, the glow of her spear gave her facial expression, an all-too enthusiastic grin, an ethereal blue tone. “Au revoir! May we never meet again!” And with that farewell, she let the fire erupt once more from the embedded tip of the spear, injecting purgatory’s flame straight into the hog’s body, meaning to roast it from the inside.

He was rolling in the dirt before he'd realized what had hit him. The monster's comrade had come to its aid! These must truly be noble beasts, indeed. Ignoring, for the most part, the stinging in his leg, as steam roiled off the point of impact between the second Burgek and Nuadha's coat of Aura, he righted himself and scanned the battlefield. The pair had broken off, assumed a new formation that seemed to have increased their speed, and came around for another attack. He wondered how they could see where they were going, rolled up as they were?

Stomping over to stand a ways ahead of Grand's double, Nuadha braced his legs and splayed his arms. Apparently he intended to stand his ground and accept the beast's charge head-on once more. "Professor Second, please do not be alarmed! I will stop the monster before it reaches you." And if he could not, Nuadha was positive his friends would prevail. He had heard the shots as they rang out, and knew that Seong was doing his best, just as the gentle tug of the cord around his waist reminded him that Faris was with him as well. Emi and Eva were both holding their own, he was sure of it.

Ramona may hold deep regrets of the past, but she isn’t one to do so in the heat of battle. There would be no place for regret if she only acted after having carefully considered her options based on all the information she had. At worst, she would take a calculated risk if the situation called for. But right now, as the Grimm soared through the air gloriously toward her, Ramona contemplated her life choices in earnest. This kind of risk was too much for her to calculate. She had taken caution when choosing to take the path above instead of on the ground to avoid an ambush like this. But there it was, a massive Grimm was soaring its way through the air and was readied to come down on her few inches from above.

Her face twisted, in fear and anger. Which god had she pissed off so much so that her fate was driven to this place on this day? No times to cherry pick her options nor could she rely on the luck that had just turned on her. Her instinct took the wheel.

The elf threw herself back from the tree branch away from her doom, her hands unconsciously drew the rifle on her back. Even a professional sniper would be forgiven for a terrible shot in this situation. Fortunately for her, or unfortunately, the bullets in her chamber were the explosive bullets from when she considered burning both Ivan and the Grimm in that hole. The trigger was pulled.

Ramona did not know if her desperate shot hit the Grimm or just a stray branch, but she felt the blast wave nonetheless from above. What little Aura effect she could muster to soften the impact with the ground was rendered useless by the sudden force.

The ground was hard, way too hard for her liking. The impact with the ground was not pleasant. Ramona could feel the air being knocked out of her lungs and it felt impossible to draw the breath in again. The threat from above hurried Ramona to her feet despite the pain, a particularly sharp one came from her chest, something must have been broken. But she could walk still and that was more than enough for a damage report before she started running.

Flee. Being away from this spot was the priority right now, facing it without cover would be foolish.

Terra always thought that, is she was ever thanked by one of her peers for her help in battle, she would reply with some cool movie-like quote, somthing along the lines of: 'Do not thank me yet. We may have won this battle, but the war has only just begun ...' However, right now, Terra was so caught up in the moment that the only words she managed to choke out were "Uhh ... thanks. You did a great job ... too." Before taking Ivan's advice and starting to climb back out.

Terra was using the help of Able's rope to make her way back up easier - Ivan looked like he needed it more than she did right now, but Terra didn't say anything. She didn't want to accidentally "offend a man manlyness by offering him useless 'help" - as her father would put it.

Despite the fact that she still had plenty of stamina, the bear faunus was still moving at the same peace as -perhaps even a bit slower than- the human. The mutitude of battle tactics which were invading Terra's thoughts didn't help with her usual slowness either.

"So, considering the time limit, in the worst case scenario, we'll just have to 'play tag' with the Menyerap - make it run in between us and keep it away frome the water for about an hour, while also trying to find out its weakness." Terra was so caught up in her thoughts, she didn't even realize she started speaking out loud - so she continued to mutter under her breath, unaware her teammate was able to hear everything. "Since water makes it stronger, it should be weak to fire, right? Maybe it's scared of it, just like wolves ... if that is so, we could try to get the grimm to open its mouth and send some explosive bullets down its throat. Either that or-"

The girl froze mid sentece, her lime green eyes widdening as she finally realized - she was (literary) speaking her mind. Terra sent Ivan a scared look before quickly muttering "-and all those are probably awaful ideas which will get us killed and I'm not having anyone's blood on mt hands so yeah!" all in one breath. With that, the brunette started to quickly climb up the crater, at a speed she was unaware she was able to reach. Being a leader may seem great in someone's else eyes, but in her opinion teamwork just meant 'the perefect opportunity to shift all the blame onto one person if something goes wrong'. The rest of Team A would probably be albe to come up with some better ideas anyway ... or at least so she hoped.

"Oh dear ..." Were the first words to leave her mouth one she reched the surface. Great, now the Menyearp was trying to take a bite out of Ramona ... Oh dear.

Eva watched as her team took on the boars below. They were truly large beast capable of praise. However Eva had no intentions of helping her team, she had to save her energy after all. Think of her like a prowling tiger.

Infact, her team seemed to be handling the threat just fine. 'Ok maybe a bit less than fine but still- do they really need 'my' help?'. Deep down Eva knew they did but she chose to stay in the tree for a moment longer. Lazilly watching below. Until Faris wrapped the Grimm in the chain Eva just didn't want to fuck with it. Now though, it would be direct neglect if she didn't take the opportunity.

Eva leaped off the tree, right towards the boar looking beast both blades drawn back. Aiming for the spine on top of the beast. Mid flight she had to harden her body, as using a fall for extra force like this will hurt. But aura could at least soften it.

A blur of colors and a haze of shapes, this was what Captain saw in his ball form. It couldn't see perfectly, but it could see good enough that it knew where it was, where it was going and who it was going for.

Then the Giant got in the way and the rolling bowling ball of muscle hit the wall of solid man. Captain, did not like this at all. So it did the only sensible thing it could think of at the moment.

It tried to mow Nua into the ground and flatten the man he was protecting just a couple yards away. Dirt kicked up, speed was increased and dust storms were left in its wake as it pushed for all he was worth. The more resistance he met, the angrier he became, and the stronger that push in turn was with every passing second. The push went from being nothing, to feeling like you were playing tug of war with a car and the car which had at first been losing was now winning.

A pit had been dug into the ground as Captain kept rolling and spinning in his ball like form. And as his speed increased as he remained locked in Nua's position so did the friction that came with contact making it almost unbearable. There was a strange sounding snort that came from the male Burgek, a snort of frustration and anger as he pushed past the wall of Man, and tried to get to the one that had so rudely smacked flung mud on its face, and as the struggle lasted the Burgek's anger grew.

And as its anger grew, so did it begin to push Nua back. First an inch. Then another. Till Nua was slowly being pushed back to where Second was.

Only if Nua looked back, he'd find the professor was no longer there. He had moved off to aid Faris in his struggle. Leaving Nua the chance to do as he saw fit once more.

Crimson was getting excited about getting back into the fight as he watched Jean in action. Then as Larisa gave him an order he quickly dropped out of the tree and ran straight for the designated pig without hesitation. He wanted to see who was stronger anyway. Tank vs Tank was always a fun fight. So when he reached the pig he slammed up against it and held on as hard as he could his cloths releasing small embers as he did. He was using all of his aura on his strength to hold the pig in place. He just needed to through the pig off balance to slam its head into the ground. Though to do that he needed to be stronger than the pig. If the pig was stronger than he could always enter his Chimera state anyway. Though that was the last resort in this situation.

While he was toe and toe with the beast he could barely focus on the rest of the fight but he swears he heard Grand shouting. Well, whatever it was didn't really matter. He had his orders and he had to stick with them. So the rest of the group would have to deal with it for now.

Nic was very appreciative of Larisa pulling him up but didn't get the chance to thank her for it since she was already launching off. Not that he would have, he didn't need to say anything for her to just understand his gratitude right? The thought wasn't important, and already he was getting ready to aim another arrow, this time at his favorite Grimm. As his fingers started to loosen on the string, their beloved professor had jumped into the fray, forcing Nic to shift his aim drastically last second to avoid hitting the teacher's clone. While he wouldn't have minded if he actually his the clone, or the actual teacher himself, it would look bad on his review so he had to miss.
"Forget the devils down below, they've sent the worse of them all up here." He cursed, his eyes tinting slightly from a glow as he continuously counted to 10 in his head.
Seeing Grand's clone start helping them infuriated Nic.
They didn't need his help, nor did he ask for his help, so why did he think he would need to step in? If it wasn't for the sudden display of highly skilled aura, Nic would have started preparing another arrow to fire but instead, he found himself standing. Lost in a trance as he watched First's hands glow with energy, almost forgetting about how angry he was for a second.
Amazing . . . He remembered Phillip telling him about this, but seeing it in person was something else-- from a clone nonetheless!
His thoughts were interrupted as First yelled his name, and suddenly Nic was reminded why he hated orange eyes.
Did he just throw a Grimm at me?!
With the threat flying at him, he had no time to prepare an arrow, but he did have time to switch formation. With one swift motion, he unhooked the top string of his bow, gripping the string like a handle as he swung it forward. The bladed bow swished through the air, extending in front of him at Caid blade first to slash at him. Aura coursing through his arms to boost his swing, shifting his weight to put more force into the attack without losing balance despite the branch he stood on.

Two down, no injuries. So far so good. She put her feet planted onto the hindquarters of Serg bending her knees and preparing to be launched. The only thing keeping her on now was Reverence being stabbed into the pig, and even then she hardly pierced it enough. With a breath in and a bracing for impact she yanked out the blade. The hog still bucking through her upwards sailing into a backflip. The impact was a wave of pain but not nearly as much as it would have been without the aura defenses she kept strong and unwavering. The worst part was the skidding back, she stabbed her weapon into the ground slowing her down. She may be doing well now but if those things got too close they’d trample her. Aura or no aura, it’d be game over.

The one she’d just leapt off was now being grappled by Crimson off in the distance, man did she skid back. One had fled still set ablaze by Jean, that one would die soon or set the whole forest on fire but for now she couldn’t focus on it. The last of the Grimm was tossed to Nicolai courtesy of Grand, and while she wasn’t fond of that it’d be insulting to jump in when he could handle a single Grimm. Seriously Grand was a toss up between best teacher and worst teacher. She’d love to know his excuse for that one.

Either way she couldn’t sit here and fight she was in no way a range fighter. She started to channel the aura to her feet, she’d be dropping her entire defense in the attempt to distract so she really hoped that Jean could come through with this. She looked for the girl and locked eyes before giving a signal that she was going in.

She starting running forwards Reverence at the ready. She surrounded her enemies with all ten of her fog clones, this way the blows she couldn’t run from could be misdirected. She slashed into the two pigs that were left over and over. None of the cuts were using her full strength but that wasn’t the point of this. She need to distract them. While Reverence would need power behind the swings to get killing, Jean had fire which was definitely more useful against these guys than her fog would be right now. Which meant right now she needed to slash and dash.

The chain pulled. Faris gritted his teeth as he crossed his arms in front of his chest, trying to apply more force to restrict the Burgek. He dug his feet into the ground, recreating the sensation of pulling something heavy with his own muscle and bone. From his peripheral view, he could see Eva jumping down right toward the Burgek. She would make it! A blow to the Burgek's spine, and the battle would end. Or so he thought.

Though he had fought with a different Grimm before, Faris had yet to shook the notion that Grimms are just monsters. The previous Aooma's appearance resembled that of a hyena, and he originally faced it while thinking of it as one. That was why he was surprised when the Aooma showed a considerably intellectual move. However, Faris thought of the Aooma's as a special case. When the Burgek came in charging and snorting like a boar, he once again assumed that it would act like a boar.

That was why when the Burgek suddenly lurched backward and formed into a ball, Faris' concentration slipped. He didn't expect it. The chain slackened without his mental direction.

As if taking advantage of his unpreparedness, the Burgek once again charge toward the chain. This time, he was unprepared.

The chain snapped. And the moment it did, he was attacked by a wave of fatigue.

As a user or Creator type Qin, Faris could create objects by the mean of using his Qin. Creating these objects is a bit exhausting, but maintaining and controlling them take little effort. Breaking them forcefully, however, is a different story. If his created objects are vessels and the Qin is water, creating the objects take out water, maintaining and controlling them are using the water, but breaking them are like destroying the vessels. In other word, the Qin is wasted.

Faris staggered, trying to keep his balance from his suddenly tired muscle. Then he felt a hand grasping his shoulder; Professor Second. As he took the time to compose himself and listen to his instruction, he realised that everything around the two of them was moving as if in a slow motioned video.

...Eh? The professor couldn't control time, right?

If it was more peaceful, he would have asked the professor about the strange phenomena, but it was a battlefield. After giving his order, Professor Second and disappeared afterward, only to appear near the angered Burgek. However, it was not the Burgek's charge that worried Faris, but the professor's glowing eyes. And his pointed fingers. And the energy gathering around it.

That was bad.

"Everyone! Stay away from Professor Second and the Burgek!"

Getting hit by Professor's attack would be jumping out the pan into the fire ! He had no time to lose. He couldn't spend time creating chain link one by one when the Professor was also at risk of being injured. Faris dematerialized the threads and chain links he had made previously. He held his right hand straight forward, its palm facing the Burgek. His left hand was put in a similar position behind his right hand. His eyes was once more trained on the Burgek. Flash of images passed through his mind. The knitting patterns on his scarf. The way frayed ropes bind itself into a rope. Chain binding on a chain mail.

"Ha!" He shouted to pump himself.

Right after he shouted, a huge net covered the Burgek's tusk, head, and a large part of its body. A single chain connected the ends of the net to Faris' opened palm, and with all of his mental and physical might, he pulled the chain and net. To stop the Burgek for a few seconds. Faris gritted his teeth and kept pulling with all of his might. Only a few seconds!

He fell in line supporting Nua. While he felt his most comfortable being a support for Nua and Faris he understood the elder man’s logic. After all he hadn’t really seen Eva as a frontliner and Emi had proven to be well... she needed people that would adapt around her. Faris was by far the best at that. He started across the branches aiming to get as far out of the way of this side as possible while also getting to a better position to jump down. After all if the bullets were doing nothing from afar than the answer was more firepower. It was time he dump another canister or two onto these fuckers.
Nua on the other hand seemed to be wrestling with a hog. He could have sworn the professor was behind Nua as he was making his way over. He started down the branches to aid Nua as he spotted where their wayward professor had ended up. Wait where was Emi and Eva? The sexism is strong in this dude. Had either of his female companions been even given the chance to fix their own situations? This was getting to high levels of stupid did he think they were delicate or did he think they sucked? Either way he’d prefer it if the man would just assign teams better in the long run.
Grand was… loud. He supposed it could just be years of teaching but he could hear the man even over his earmuffs. From where he and Faris were calling from he could tell that Nua and him were out of the blast radius for now. He lined up his shot while coming in from the side. He used the next three ice bullets he’d loaded up on the creatures feet. It was in no way a permanent solution but it should help Nua get some breathing room to start to get the upper hand. He kept his aura up strong keeping half to his feet ready to run when that thing switched its attention even as he continued with laying down cover fire.

"Yeah ..." Terra replied in a quiet voice, after a few seconds of hesitation. Whether the response meant she agreed with the 'have more faith in yourself' part or with Ivan's plan (or perhaps both) was anyone's guess.

Before anything else could be said, the girl felt the earth beneath them begin to rumble. 'How could I not feel that?' Terra mentally asked, as her eyes stopped on a hoard of small, screeching creatures, which were quickly approaching the two of them.

"Ruzzlers?" She said at the same time as Ivan. While Terra had never encountered a Ruzzler before in real life, she had hear of them before. They liked to occasionally give a bit of trouble to Nuxvar's farmers, at least back when Terra still lived there. Shooting them would be the best option - just as Ivan had suggested.

"Got it." Terra replied as her hand quickly reached towards her pant's side pocket, the place where she kept her ammo. She had run out of it while trying to shoot down the Menyerap - yeah, looking back at it, it probably wasn't the wisest plant ever. "Oh, come on already..." Terra growled between gritted teeth, struggling to find what she was looking for while being under the pressure of having to do re-load before the Ruzzlers reached her.

What happened next didn't help either.

Terra almost dropped her bullets to the ground. Her lime green eyes widened in horror as the Menyeerap rose from below the ground, with Ivan atop of his head. "Ivan!" She gasped, seeing the creature toss her teammate to the ground. Despite hating teamwork with a passion, Terra didn't want her solo work to be due to a grimm taking out all her frien ... her teammates.

The girl's shock and fear quickly began to wash away when she saw Ivan charge at the Grimm with a determined look in his eyes. The feeling was seemingly starting to rub off onto her - Terra suddenly felt a rush of adrenaline induced excitement starting to flow through her. By this point, the Ruzzlers had reached her - but she knew it wasn't too late. Not yet. "Go Ivan! Teach it a lesson!" Terra cheered with a smitk, in a manner that seemed to better suit her roomate, Larisa, rather than herself. Nevertheless, she was confident Ivan could do it. This was part of teamwork too, she supposed - trusting others would be able to do their part, while taking care of yours ... speaking of which-

With newly found determination, Terra turned her attention back to loading her gauntlets. This time her hands didn't tremble anymore - the processes was ready in the blink of an eye. "Alright, let's dance." Were words that escaped Terra's lips before a rain of bullets started pouring down onto the hoard of twenty Ruzzlers.

Shots were fired. Dying screeches could be heard. Terra growled, her inner bear stubborn to win the battle of dominance against the much smaller creatures. One bold ruzzler jumped at her - only to be meet by a clawed gauntlet right in the skull. Terra threw the cratured away, knocking four others of it kind to the ground along with it. She know the bulets were eventually going to finish - and there were only five Ruzzlers she was sure she shot ... this wasn't looking too good ...

Terra let out a pained yelp, feeling a sudden jot of pain through her leg. "You little-!" Terra growled at the creature which bit her, before sending it the strongest punch she could muster - thing which knocked the ruzzler to the ground. The pain was soon forgoten and replaced by the adrenaline of the fight.

"That's all you got?" Terra mocked the creatures despite the damage they had done- as if they could understand her- before sending another rain of bullets in their direction. No matter what, there was no way she was going to loose this. Her inner bear wouldn't allow it.

Eva felt the wind fly through her bangs, she was about to land on it. Her Arms outstretched in a head first dive. Then within maybe the few second she needed to land the beast moved out of the way and seeked to punish her for her blatant recklessness. Eva's face became scrunched and she strained her whole body to change her rotation mid-flight to little avail, leaving to just wild flailing. Eva not even having the time to curse her situation she prepared for massive amounts of pain. Closing her eyes and gritting her teeth.

But neither the impact of the beast nor the ground came. Rather she was picked up, she still flinched at Second's touch, thinking it to be hard ground. Eva opened her eyes and found herself in Second's grip, and what a grip it was. She looked around herself and found out that she was moving with Second. She didn't have much time to think about it, no matter how slowed down time was she could not gaze forever at the new perspective. As Eva found herself placed on a tree-branch being told to stay put.

After that near face-plant experience Eva sat down on the tree branch her breath was rushed. It was close, way closer than she would like. Not to mention she had to have her ass saved right next to the fox. Who seemed to be staring into space shell-shocked. Like a surprised kitten.

' God damn I should have just stayed on the branch. . .'

Her heart was still racing. Eva wanted to move, she was very uncomfortable the way she was sitting but being on a large branch was not the most stable thing in the world. With another problem being that she had no hands but instead two blades on her arms. Her elbows shaking a bit as Eva tried to form her blades back into hands then quickly regaining her balance with her hands back to grab the branch. Relief flowing through her when she stabilized herself.

"Now I have to wait. Better than being smacked by that. Speaking of that"

Eva whispered to herself looking below to herself. Seeing Second use his powers was something. Atleast someone could coordinate their team, and watching them work was something else. Why the Grimm would be cleaned up in no time flat. It's was truly a shame to Eva that no popcorn was near to watch this imminent destruction with.

A mighty roared startled Ramona on her way to the nearest cover. It came from behind, but wasn’t chasing after her. The beast, wherever it is, had stopped in its track that the elf assumed was going after her. The earth continuously trembled under her, indicated multiple new foes had appeared. But none of them, her sensor effect noted, was heading toward her.

Cautiously, she turned around. The reasons for their disinterest in her were obvious. They are all occupied by Ivan and Terra. Terra was fighting against the smaller creatures with some difficulties.

Small fries. She’ll live… at least. Ramona thought. Her gaze turned to Ivan. The fully armored boy was deeply immersed in the melee with the Grimm, both fought with equal monstrous fury. Without the differences in appearance, it would be hard to tell which one was the beast. The elf cared not for their insanity display, but their lack of awareness of the surroundings. The wheel of fortune had turned, this time in her favor, and she decided to take this advantage.

In truth, taking her stance in the empty with this many foes was way bigger a risk compared to what she had taken before. She didn’t know what makes the Grimm so engrossed with Ivan, from what she did know, it could change its target at the slightest distraction. Her calculation though, was flawed when an unknown factor like this Grimm got into the picture. For now, the only strategy she could trust herself with was the one right in front of her.

Silver light glowed, her Disruptor Aura activated, it clouded the Grimm sense of smell and hearing, if effective, Ramona would be able to sneak close to it safely.
And she did, albeit unclear if it was for her effective uses of aura power or the stellar performance as a bait of Ivan. In a short distance away from the Grimm, enough so she could still put up a fight if it turned toward her, Ramona got down on her knee, ignored the pain that was spreading through her body.

Her aim shook slightly, but she couldn’t waste any more precious time. With a deep breath, mixed with a quieted prayer to all the fortune gods to stay on her side a bit more, Ramona shot the Grimm. Maximum output power, aimed at the joint between the Grimm’s front right limb and its body.

  • With the last Grimm gone all that needed to be done was take care of the pigs.

First found that sight to be an interesting one.

Gena had crashed into everything in her attempt to free herself of the arrow in her rear and in the process had nearly smushed Larisa when the pig violently turned and kicked out just as the Rasporian was delivering a rather irritating paper cut deep slash.

Commander- dazed from the kick and seeing far to many Larisa's at once charged into a tree let out a snort, shook his head, then plopped to the ground too tired and too dazed to continue.

Serg, the biggest Burgek and bring grappled by Crimson decided it was time to stop playing games and curled himself into a gigantic ball of muscle- which unfortunately for Qwin turned him into a flying Chimera as the hog rose up, swung its neck in an arc forward and lifted the strong Chimera with ease before sending him flying as it turned into a ball.

    And then zoomed towards Larisa.

It was odd but interesting to see how a giant ball of muscle looked as it charged in a destructive straight line towards one small Rasporian girl.

Serg didn't get too far though. Because a glowing pale orange hand made of pure energy smacked it viciously off course.

"Nicely done class. You all did excellent work- but I'll have to cut in here. Got an alert for a staff meeting a few minutes ago and I'm told its urgent."

And just as he finished Gena came charging at Larisa's blind spot from behind. The charge was interrupted with First appearing right there- out if nowhere and another pale glow of orange where this time the hand grabbed the Burgek and the scent of burning follicles filled the air.

Straining with the glowing hand of his right as Gena pushed back against the pale orange shape, First released- grabbed a tusk then pulled the massive female to the left- shook her to the right then blinked out of sight and reappeared at the back of Gena only for a meaty slap of skin on skin to resound in the air.

The reaction couldn't have been odder.

There was a powerful squeal of pain from the female Burgek and then with a now hand mark singed side where Nic's arrow no longer was, she took off at a breakneck gallop. Rousing Commander who snorted- rose and then almostly drunkly followed after and then ran right past Serg who had been sorting himself out after going through a few good trees.

Serg- shook its head and watched the last two take off into the woods right past him- no doubt following the singed trail if Cadet who had left burnt grass and heavy hooved ground in his wake as he made an escape to the nearest swamp or pond.

Serg no longer seeing his herd or his oppressors- pawed the ground then after a second, turned tail and went after its charge.

First, dropping the arrow and wiping the blood on the grass, turned and said: "Let's head back."

And without a word, moved to do so.

The breeze was light and airy. In the middle of the afternoon it was just what she needed. Her weapon sat on the floor beside her, it was definitely not leaving her after Monday’s surprise ordeal. She still couldn’t quite find herself that satisfied with the outcome, after all it wasn’t like they could count it as a win when their professor decided to jump in abritraily just because they were taking too long. A fate it seemed the others had shared as well. The quiet moments though were always the ones where she carried less, it almost felt like home. After all she always liked to be the first in.

He debated on just staying back and not crossing the gate when he approached. Fuck did he really need to rush over here? Luckily enough the others were right behind as well. He took the few steps he needed to and took a seat as near to the girl as he dared, which meant he was a few tens of feet away and looking awkward as usual. Still couldn’t be helped. He threw his hood over his head trying to block out the others as much as he could. According to Able they’d all had a rather annoying week so maybe they’d even leave him alone then?

She was enjoying the time to herself but she wasn’t one to let her guard down either so it was clear when the first footsteps approached. She took a quick look over her shoulder to see it was just one of her other classmates, and not even one she knew outside of his unfriendly face. Though it was a treat to see him stumble as far as possible from her. It wasn’t long before she’d started to hear the rest of the class approach. She didn’t bother to get up but was sure to wave over Nicolai and Terra as they walked up. For a second she wondered if she should grab Jean and Qwin in too. She decided she might as well start to work them out of those solidary mindsets and waved them over too, at worst they ignored her.

He was glad as he heard the others approach. He’d really rather avoid situations with interacting with unfamiliar people as much as possible. At the very least if he had to interact he’d prefer someone that intimidated him less, or was less loud. He counted this as a valid concern even if the woman was being oddly silent. Then again he’d only seen her at loud he guessed. He rose up grabbing his weapon as he did to go greet his friends.

“Hey guys. Ready for professors to once again throw us to their whims?”

“Do any of you guys have any idea why they’re fucking with us again?”
