Able continued to scope out the little creature as he listened to his teammates talk. Everything seemed pretty basic and civil. Able jumped and almost fell out of the tree after Ivan started shouting about what Able assumed to be his own lack of H2O. But then Ivan shouted to not let the beast get to the water. Able smiled and gave a quick 2 fingered salute to his teammates still in the tree and let himself fall backwards off the tree. He quickly spun around flicking his hands out towards the tree's in front of him, pulling himself forward swinging into the small opening where the little Grimm was. He retracted the metal string landing behind the Grimm doing a somersault and springing back up.

He shot the strings out at the Grimm wrapping it in the metal string. Able pulled back against the Grimm which was surprisingly strong. Able focused his Aura into his legs, he jumped to the right of the grim and starting doing circles around it until he eventually ran out of wire. "You can shoot it now! My toys are holding it back!" Able gave a devilish smile as he watched the Grimm struggle. He held his ground the best he could, slowly making his way forward from the Grimm. Able knew that the wire wouldn't hold for too much longer if it kept struggling so much.

Though Able had a back up plan if the shot missed or god forbid she somehow missed. I mean, if she does miss it's because she didn't let me see the gun. I could've added a lot on the way here. Poo. But as Able started staring off into space the Grimm gave a tug and he came back to reality to tug back. "You're fun, why don't you challenge my toys more?' Able said aloud, he loved watching things lose to his inventions. It was almost a problem at this point. Able continued to hold his ground as he waited for the shot.

GRIMM: Menyerap
THREAT: C
mattKohr_pangolinMonster.jpg
Menyerap: Ancient term associated to the sponge type Grimm found in the distant costal lands of Vale and Vacuo. Grimm that are actually fairly small (1ft) until they absorb water in which they can grow to a maximum of 8 meters tall; very territorial and covered in hard chitin with meager slit openings for movement ease. It takes a bit of effort to take them down. They hold great advantages over Creators, Brutes, & Emitters depending on the person and powers.

The Menyerap looked like a living, baby pine cone. It whimpered in fear. Maybe it was a bluff? Only partially. Of course it was afraid of the group of people, but it's survived before because of it's cowering cuteness. It's eyes darted between the eyes of the group. Slowly, it began to back up. There seemed to be no escape. Emphasis on seemed. Not more than a couple feet away was a small burrow. Right before its move could be made, Able managed to keep it under temporarily. In desperation, it started thrashing around and attemptin to bite the wire. Luckily on the the wire caught between its plates and was cut, allowing the Menyerap to dash into the hole and into the earth. From the sound of it, they were trying to catch it in the tunnels. The only option was to fight back. But that'd be a death sentence at this state. Being its home, the Menyerap knew every corner and hallway. Going through as fast as its stubby legs would let it, the water quickly arrived. It didn't take a long time for the little pine cone to get into the water and absorb it.

Like a soldier hopping from the trenches, the Menyerap roared as it ascended from the small pond. The small baby, now a massive beast, had its eyes go from fear, to aggression. The hunt was on. The clacking of teeth, kicking of dirt, and bass boosted growl were a sign. I'm gonna fuck you up. Like a bullet, the Menyerap leaped towards the group, sending dirt as the back blast. After the initial boost, it's feet continued the momentum. The booming thumps of each footstep carried through the woods. Going without a target wouldn't get anything done, so it went for what it saw as the easiest target first: Terra.

The plan, all though just instinct, was to mount, bite the neck, move on. Until all were on the ground, slowly wasting away. Afterwards? A feast.

A fire lit up in the treasure hunter’s eyes at the moment of Larisa’s response, just as a fire lit up upon her spear at the same time, turning the blue crystalline weapon into a red-hot blaze. She did not bother to respond to Larisa, not even with a nod. “Chimera, stand clear!” Whether the Chimera responded, she did not care. She took a step forwards, one hand already expertly manipulating the spear in her hands, turning it into something akin to a wheel of fire. Without so much aa glancing down at her spear, she caught the shaft under her arm, and swept the spear across her, sending a blast of fire in a cone in front of her, exactly to Larisa’s coordinates- 10 to 2. The wave of fire leapt forwards, enveloping the trees that were blocking their view in an inferno. Almost as if she were dancing, the spearwoman took another step forwards, removing her spear from under her arm and twirled it above her head. She pirouetted, and swept the spear across once more, in the same angle, sending yet another wave of fire forwards. Without waiting for a response from the Grimm or a follow-up from her compatriots, Jean spun the spear around her body, grasped its shaft with both her hands, and swung it down, sending a vertical scything blast forwards. No quarter was given to the monsters. Eradicate with prejudice. Clever or not, nothing rarely stood against an all-out attack. Let them flank her, let them charge her- her power alone would char them off the face of the earth itself. Let them hide, let them run, eventually, with Larisa’s ability to sight them, they will be as the trees in her flame, consumed and devoured.

Terra Ursula

Location: Shouthpark Fields|Team A: Foogels Foogels Mqueserasera Mqueserasera The Regal Rper The Regal Rper | Grimm: Probably George Probably George

Terra's eyes widened in surprise as she heard Ivan scream at the top of his lungs. It was faint, but the memory of aunt Ash mentioning the abilities of some Grimm to grow larger after coming in contact water was there. Although she never bothered to learn the beast's name -thing which now she was regretting- the girl quickly figured out the Menyerap had to be it.

But she couldn't make her move. If Terra was to used her illusion Qin now, chances were Ramon would think she's the enemy and shoot her. Dang it. That's why Terra didn't like teamwork or small sized Grimm - it rendered her powers useless. She was being pathetic ... if only she had a chance to take a bigger Grimm on, one vs. one ...

However, as they say, "be careful what you wish for." In the blink of an eye, what once used to be a small, almost cute Grimm emerged from the pond, now several time its original size. Terra was quick to notice who it had its sight on: herself.

An uncharacteristic, almost creepy smirk took over the girl's features as she returned the murderous gaze towards the beast. Was she scared? Yes. But she was also itching for a fight.

"Hey ugly!" The brunette yelled, sending a bullet towards the creature, bullet which missed thanks to the Grimm being too far away for the mid-range weapon. "Over here." She added before sliding off the three branch she was on, with the help of her gauntlets's claws.

It would only take Grimm a few moments to reach her -Terra knew that too well- but that was all the time she needed. A pale golden color enveloped the girl's form as her disruptor aura manifested. Concealed by the trees around her, Terra's form changed drastically under the illusion of her Qin. Along with her presence, her emotional signature was almost instantly wiped.

When the Menyerap reached her, instead of seeing the bear faunik which provoked it into a chase, the sight of a small, cat-sized mouse/"Nezu Grimm" greeted it. Not giving it the time to realize something wasn't quite right with the much smaller beast and attack it, Terra send a rain of earth-dust bullets down the Menyerap's face. From an outsider's perspective, the scene seemed ridiculous: it looked like a Nezu was shooting bullets out of its paws towards a Menyerap.

The very next second the Terra broke into a sprint, too scared to look behind and see if the plan worked. Terra knew it was going to be next to impossible to take down the Menyerap by herself if her "Nezu" disguise/attack didn't work. She was almost out of bullets and her Qin's time limit was going to make the Nezu disguise fade into nothing any second now, making her easy to sense again. She needed to regroup. Now.

  • Caïd, Soldat, & Loup
    West Past Entrance| Southpark Fields

Caïd, Soldat, & Loup charged. Scrawny, veiny arms pumped with each stride and each stride brought them closer to their prey with every hoarse, wet and needy breath. Mid-charge they saw the mist appear. And the stench of holy and divine was foul. Foul but worthless. It did not slow the 3 one bit. They obviously were not stopping, not when they could feel their prey so close. They could almost taste it.

The blood. The flesh. The bone. They did not hunger for it, They needed it.. It was a need that would be sated. A need that could not be stopped.

Till the ground trembled and walls reached for the stars.

One, two, three, four, more and more. Nostrils flared and they could sense it as they moved. The ground being manipulated with gentle kisses from the grace of one who could either float or fly. Walls continued to rise up and trees were set alight. Flames flickered and danced, brushing past them as one tree was set ablaze by the spear owner and another caught fire less than four feet ahead. It did nothing to stunt the mounting aggression. Caïd, the thicc large Jitternaut howled...and together, his pack howled with him.

They launched into the air as a new wave of fire covered the shield of trees almost a yard up ahead. And milliseconds as they took to the air, fire ate up the ground where they stood. Soldat leaped on top of one branch. Dirty, sharp nails digging in for traction then leg muscles flexed as newfound energy was put in. He launched himself, not into the center of the spread out group in the open groove but onto one large rock formation that it propelled itself off onto another of the higher rock. Overlooking the two as they continued charging with abandon. Caïd and Loup were out for blood, they split apart in a fork shape; all now away from the ground where the fire could touch them. All now in the filthy mist where sight was obscured.

Caïd dug its claws into one tree, found perch and sensed the filthy flames of the divine eat up the trees below. But before the fire could spread even further to cause a raging fire in which no one could control, something strange happened.

Roots grew and spread out like blankets on a chilly night, covering the trunks of collapsed burning trees that died on the ground, and with whet dew and soil fire was put out in large doses at incredible speeds to prevent those flames from feeding into a bigger bonfire. When the flames were out the roots retreated. And new roots grew, quelling the fires meant to burn the true demons.

Caïd, did not notice the bizarre magic that occurred just below him as roots worked to put an end to Jean's spreading fires. Instead, the large Jitternaut's nostrils flared. Smelling nothing. Nothing that a mortal's nose could ever hope to pick up.

Circling the 'walls' the morsels built to protect themselves or provide advantage there was no need to tear them down, the three jitternauts knew to use them to surprise the morsels. The voice in their minds told them it would be a fruitless venture. So Caïd decided....it would go for the annoying one first.

Caïd started to trail Nic in the branches of burnt trees. Where his feet touched, there was a subtle burn, but it did not notice or even care. Jumping from branch to branch and picking up speed till he was only barely losing ground to him. Caïd leaped off one branch, flipped into the air and landed on one off the ramps built towards Nic, then gaining ground quickly with the added leaps and jumps the large jitternaut took one more leap forward-- reached out and hit the back edge of the board trying to knock Nic off.

Loup had different plans, rather than play cat & mouse the Loup knew one thing for sure. Hidden in the leaves of one tree it looked at the spear wielder. The one who cast the filthy flames of the holy to burn the true crusaders of justice. Why let them live to set him alight?

He answered the voice's question Unlike by using the filthy fog to his advantage. Changing direction and circling a few times to confuse them where he was; before leaping over the rock formations and out of the fog towards Jean with extreme prejudice. Aiming to pin them to the ground, teeth extended. Then before he could even reach Jean Loup was met with the sharp end of a halbeard, the axe of it lopping off it's arm. Being knocked to the ground the shot missed. Now being right next to the group and down one arm Loup got up with 3 legs and snarled at Larisa. Charging her at somewhat mediocre speed.

Soldat meanwhile was still watching from above. . .waiting. Something most jitternauts do not even think of. He was waiting for something, anything. He was watching the entire battlefield. Waiting for one morsel to put themselves out in the open.

And the voice told him of patience. That with patience the hunger would be sated. And that by watching, it had a better hope of surviving.

Patience, pet. The voice whispered as its pack moved in for the kill. Patience, yields the spoils.

Crimson quickly went into action as Larisa gave orders but stopped when the girl he supposed was Jean told him to stop. He did as she said as he knew her attacks had a fire aspect to them. Plus, she was reacting like he would in battle so he had a bit of respect for her. So he decided to attack with range. He positioned himself where the girl's flames wouldn't touch him and held up his rifles shooting where Larisa said to. Though as he did he noticed shadows quickly moving in the fog. If what he was seeing was Grimm then they were fast and more tactical than he would hope.

He was about to change his attention based on how the Grimm were reacting when he noticed something leap into the clearing toward Jean. "Jean watch out" He quickly aimed at the moving target and fired. If he missed at least she would be aware of something coming toward her. So without waiting to see if he hit he ran into the open to get a better view of the situation. It would give his enemy an easier target to attack as well. Which is what he wanted as his qin made his defense almost perfect. If something attacked him he could easily take a hit and return an even harder one. Besides he trusted his team to have his back if things got out of hand.

Configuring his aura was going to be an important factor for him. If he used too little, he might not be able to withstand everything thrown his way, but if he used too much he'll end up exhausting himself. The same applied to when he shifted his aura, he couldn't concentrate too much on a single area in case he was hit there. This wasn't some Achilles heel story after all. With everything going around them, he applied 25% of his aura around his senses to increase his senses and left the remaining 75% on general defense. Despite this, he had mistakenly put himself in the air just as one of the monsters had lunged at him. At least he thought it was, so he kicked off one of the formations to keep him in the air, getting ready to brace himself for a strike that was never aimed at him. The creature was smacking at his board, which meant . . .
It was trying to knock him off it to slow his movement.
The Grimm had already made contact with his board and in the split second of reaction time he had, Nic decided his best option was to counteract the Grimm's force. Using his Qin, Nic's weight transferred down to his legs as he kicked down at his board. He would lose his board, but at least it wasn't being sent flying too far, it was still close enough to get back on. As the board got smacked down below him (or close enough below him), the counter force brought him up in the air above the Grimm, but he only had a few seconds before the energy sending him upwards lost to the forces of gravity.
"Larisa," He loudly called out, "I need you and your grapple here now!"
The last part had a hint of urgency, as he was putting his faith in the fellow Rasporian reacting in under 3.4 seconds.
Would have been 6.5 seconds if he had his gravity dust on him, but that was something he wasn't able to get much of these days so his airtime wasn't going to last long. If she didn't come to his aid in time, he would either land on the Grimm or on the ground. Both possibilities weren't very ideal, so he muttered a few curses at the Grimm, hoping the devils would find more amusement in foiling the Grimm instead of them.

This was going to become a hot mess. The fog wasn’t slowing them down in any way, that was going to be a problem. Even with one being now down a limb this was not the ideal situation. She focused on shaping the fog, more than anything right now her team needed their eyes. Jean’s smoke would be a problem but she could go back to the fog and help them navigate it if it got to thick again. She willed her fog into ten humanoid figures to surround the now three legged beast. It would be a simple fight but she had to check on her team first.

Reid, check no injuries hell the Grimm hadn’t even seemed to go for him yet. It wouldn’t stay that way though and the best way to fight these things would be to outnumber them. He’d have to join in for a fight as he was safer that way, at least then he’d be by allies. Crimson going strong and working with Jean to get at one. She had faith in both of their ability so long as they stayed outnumbering it they were safe. which left… Nic.

And there was the call. Aim, fire, and now she was airbound. She didn’t even really process much as she propelled herself forwards releasing as she got close enough so that she could pull off a spin strike aiming right at the creature’s right side. Well at least the fog clones would keep the third busy for now, she hoped.

When Grand took Emi away, Nuadha could seldom help but feel relieved. Finally the fight could begin in earnest, without need to split his attention between worrying over the fate of a wounded comrade and battling the creeping evil that circled him at this very moment. He'd only begun to recover his bearings from the scream from above when he was confronted with the sight of the stalking Grimm. There was no time to check on the others. At last, the time to act had come!

"Prepare yourself!" He shouted over to the lurking Grimm that walked, hunched, like a man, over the craggy ground. "Here I come!" Nuadha charged headlong across the open space that separated him from it. When he'd gotten close enough, he lunged, fist clenched, arm cocked way back behind the ear before it was let loose like a cannonball. The force of Aura mingled with pure muscle-power rocketed the punch ahead to split apart whatever it might find, whether it be the hide and flesh of a Grimm, or the rocks soil beneath its shadowy paws. Either were acceptable, after all.

Nuadha knew the creatures, from their brief displays thus far, to be quick and crafty. He'd be hard-pressed to land a clean hit on one, but he didn't necessarily need to. Blasting apart the ground on which they trod should serve to limit their movements and, in the case that he was lucky, or his opponent was simply sluggish, he'd catch a break and his fist would strike true. In any event, he was angled in such a way that contact was assured. It was only a matter of whether his fist would meet first with the Grimm or the ground.

There was a mere roll of the eyes. "Alright, since you're ready." Second turned and picked up the weapon. "I'll be taking you over to what I think will be the original from what I was seeing of the fight. Don't worry", he waved a hand as he moved towards her, weapon in other hand, "I'll toss you right towards it so you catch it off guard. Well, as close to as off guard as you can get with this massive thing." Sliding the weapon along the ground towards her so she caught, when Emi was ready and adjusted, Second moved towards the little Mystic and picked her up.

And in a rush of speed everything became a blur. Wind breezed by along the ears like a car moving down a clear road along the highway. Then with a shift of weight, a careful adjustment, and skidding along the gravelly ground, Prof. Grand dropped Emi right on her feet a good couple yards from a black, red, and white blur hiding in the trees.

The second Emi was dropped off, Grand's skidding continued for but a few seconds and then it disappeared. He too, gone just as quickly as before.

The scream pushed him down, but a cat could only be tricked several times before it learned how to react properly.

Faris willingly laid himself flat on the ground. It wasn't time to think about how to keep his clothes clean. Instead of fighting to stand up straight, he focused on thinking of a way to capture the Grimm. Think.

Emi was nowhere to be seen. He didn't worry too much, though; Mystics have power that others don't. From the way Seong's thread was moving, he was facing a trouble himself. Against the self-replicating Aooma, trouble would be a clone. The leisure to help Seong wasn't there, however, as he was facing an Aooma himself.

And it was fast.

Nuadha landed a solid punch on it, breaking down its bone armour. Even so, the Aooma had no visible injury. If nothing else, breaking its armour only serve to provoke him. With a growl, the Aooma leapt toward a tree... and started to run around them. A surprising indication of its capability to learn. Nuadha's hit must had shook it off, so it decided to rely on speed to attack. Faris stood back up.

The chain around Faris reflected the dim sunlight as it floated around, a short distance over the ground around Eva and Faris. He felt a bit guilty about tripping over Eva, but what was done is done. He needed to make up for it. The opponent was relying on speed. His specialty was control. He could capture it. The Aooma darted from tree to tree. Zigzag. Changing altitude. His eyes never left the Aooma as it sped around the battlefield. When it moved to attack Nuadha, Faris didn't react. He needed the right opening. The Aooma's capability to learn meant that if he fail once, it would be wary of him.

It fell back after attacking. Left. Right. Heading toward him.

Faris felt the Grimm's eyes on him. His muscles tensed. His heart beated faster than it ever had. The rotation of his chain increased. Not yet. The moment after he leap would be when he should strike. He held back. Then he saw the telltale bend of the Aooma's limb. It was going to jump. Then it leaped... right over his head.

"Eh?"

Right. In his fear of the Aooma, he forgot one thing. The Grimm was intelligent. It knows that as long as the strongest was killed, he could get the rest easily. And the strongest one in the Grimm's mind currently was...

"Nuadha!"

After the realisation flashed in, Faris was quick to react. He whipped the chain toward the Grimm. Then the he dissolved the chain link that connected his two dust chains. Using the momentum, its lighter weight, and Faris' control, the four meter long chain and metallic sphere flew toward Aooma's legs, aiming to bind and rendering it immobile.

This kind of weapon is used in various part of the world, his father said when he showed him his prototype for a weapon. Capturing bulls, runaway criminals, rendering enemy immobile during wars, it's a very good way to protect yourself without killing! He also said. Eh? Name? Well, different places call it differently, but personally, the name I like the most is...

Meteor hammer.

A chain with a weight on both end, set to immobilise an enemy's movement. Normally, only using one weight is impossible, but with Faris control over the link, he could do without it.

The original, huh? That was the one that started all this, wasn't it? Good. That was fine by her. Kill the one that caused her all the pain and made her look weak in front of a bunch of humans. She took hold of his sword, giving the professor a simple nod in response. "Fine by me." Wait, now that she thought about his choice of words, did he say 'toss'? However, before she could ask she was scooped up and everything became a blur. The rushing wind forced her to close her eyes and lower her ears, until it all came to a sudden stop. Her eyes shot open as she looked around. There was no professor to be seen, just her and the Grimm that her gaze quickly locked onto. Emi watched as the beast opened it's mouth as three more emerged around it's head all gaping just as wide as the original. "Not this time, bucko."

She detached her sword from her back and swung it down in front of her, leveling it directly at the Grimm. As it drew in breath her weapon shifted with a series of mechanical clicking. It's overall appearance altering to more resemble Ramona or Seong's rifle than the greatsword it had previously been. She grabbed onto the newly deployed handle with her left hand, her right remaining on what was once the hilt as her index finger gently rested upon the revealed trigger. She tightened up her defenses, as her boots dug into the muddy ground. Aiming directly at the grimm she pulled the trigger just as the creature let out it's wail. With a thunderous boom heat and flame radiated out of the end of her weapon. The sheer force of the blast causing her to skid back a couple feet. The shell she loosed lanced out at the wailing grimm, covering the distance almost instantaneously with enough force to effortlessly carve through her foe and keep on going. Whether the beast dodged or not the shell would land in the distance with a second thunderous clap. If nothing else it would put an end to that god forsaken wail. She could endure it for the few seconds she needed to fire her weapon, but even with her Qin she was hard pressed to stay standing under that kind of assault.

He knew the bush wasn’t any real noteworthy cover for him but what it did hide was the angle of his gun. He was quick to load back up his sniper but that was all he had time for. Motherfucker you’d think their fur being on fire would make them have some backing off but apparently this Grimm was fucking stupid as well. He could feel him grinding down his teeth, a bad habit he may stop one day. He lined up the gun the best he could with the creature’s chest as the fool charged. He pulled down on the trigger as fast as the gun would switch loading in all ten rounds of lead into the advancing foe.

Problem with a long range specialist going in short range is well actually fuck it the problem with him being in short range is he’s fucking terrified. An angry terrified but he was at least ninety percent sure Min would be pretty annoyed at him losing his cool at this point. Wasted bullets, shooting after this shit was already retreating. What was he doing? He got up and started to scale the nearest tree. Was it particularly smart to repeat something that had marginal success? Well it was no worse than what the alternative was.

He got to the nearest branch, lower than the last was, and started to load up his gun. He put in one of the premixed ice bullets, good thing he’d been mixing them earlier this morning considering he’d left all of his other dust besides fire. The other seven chambers of the sniper he left full with plain bullets. The blaster he loaded back up with the regular gunpowder he had. Man when he got home he was not only going to ask Able to help him give Revolution a melee ranged chainsaw, he was gonna damn well fill up on dust every morning. Not to mention carry around a lot more bullets. Especially if the teachers decide to randomly spring more hunt down Grimm missions.

Still he couldn’t waste too much time he had covering to do. He went back to scoping out his team. One leapt at Nua with terrifying force but as expected Faris was right there to assist. They could handle it, for now, he was damn well going to get back to them but at the moment he was still a bit busy. Eva was … before he could tell he’d had something catch his eye from the east. WHY THE HELL WAS THE FURRY BACK? Oh okay so she was shooting bombs. Well then why the fuck was she having problems with sound before. Anyways questions for another day, he had better people to worry about anyways. He turned back to the fight Nua and Faris were in. He waited until he could get a clear shot in and unleashed his ice bullets at the feet of the creature.

Ramona’s shot was too far off its target, even the exploded fragments failed to even scratch the nimble little devil. The Grimm then disappeared into the ground and seconds later emerged from the water in the form of a true demon and charged right at Terra at an alarming speed.

“Fall back, Terra!” Shouted Ramona. Her body glowed in a silver light as she activated her Qin, as her gunpoint chased down the beast, a mind-shattering continuous noise was sent directly inside the beast’s mind. For what little information she had on the Grimm, she was uncertain if the beast psyche functioned the same as human, but it was worth a try nonetheless, if the noise she forced into it with her Disruptor Aura could cause human ears to bleed then it would at least be able to stop any creature with hearing sense in their track.

From the sight of Terra’s bullets bounce off the Grimm’s hard scales, Ramona suspected her own bullets won’t do much better than penetrating halfway into its armor. With a flick, the bullet’s element was changed back from Earth to Fire, output set to maximum. No matter how hard its shell is, the Grimm must still be affected by heat somehow. Ramona intended to damage its vision or at least heat up its brain by lighting the head on fire.

“Praise be Ifrit the wild, burn down my foe, cast away Darkness and her gruesome creatures” Chanted Ramona while she took aim at the Grimm’s head, praying also for her qin assault from earlier was effective or one of her comrades to jump in and restrict its movement. Then she opened fire, one shot after another.

Sparks flew as the beast’s slashing claws raked across Nua’s Aura-coated midriff. The force of it knocked the young giant to the ground. He struggled to keep track of the Grimm with his eyes. Too late, Nuadha caught sight of the Grimm as it charged for him again. He raised his arms, desperate to defend, unsure how many more hits his Aura could withstand when suddenly the monster stopped short. Chains snagged it. Ice froze it in place. His friends! His friends had saved him!

"Yes!" He exclaimed, full to the brim with gratitude and surprise. But this was not the time for thanks. He made doubly sure that the Grimm was subdued before overflowing his fist with Aura and steadily approaching. Faris, Seong. Thank you! Now, let me show you what I can do! Once he was sure that the Grimm was immobilized, Nuadha felt no need to sacrifice power for quickness. Aura rolled off his fist like steam as he prepared to deliver the finishing blow.

”Hah!!!” Driving his fist down into the Grimm’s middle-back, Nua expunged all of his explosive Aura at the moment of contact. The point of release whipped up powerful winds and cracked the ground beneath its weight even before contact was made, from the sheer presence of its indomitable pressure. When the ensuing gale died down and Nua’s wild, flailing hair resettled, he hopped a small distance away and resumed a fighter’s stance, keeping his eye on the sight of the blow. He wanted to make doubly sure that the deed was done.

If the warrior of hellfire noticed her flames being extinguished, she didn't seem to put much weight into it. Perhaps she didn't care. Perhaps she was so lost in the dance of the devil’s blaze it did not matter to her. There was no time to be disappointed at failures, but there was always time to adapt, improvise, and overcome. If her flames would not set the ground on fire, then there was only one thing to do- burn it even better.

She flipped the spear in her hands, turning it over in her grasp, and aimed it at the Jitternaut that was targeting Larisa. Her aura, as blue as the crystal on her spear, intensified, swirling around her like wildfire itself, and the flames that coated her spear flickered, then exploded into life, the whorling flames coiling around the entirety of its body in a mix of both her aura and the purging flames. Her smile, illuminated by the fire beside her, was not one of cheer, but one of giddy jubilation of combat. She pitched forwards, the spear leaving her hand. At the split second that it did, the flames exploded once more, completely encasing the spear in an inferno, turning it into a missile of roaring flames speeding straight towards the Jitternaut aiming for Larisa.

Et la grande finale!” No sooner had the spear left her hands, she clenched them, and in that motion, set them aflame. Whether the spear hit or not, she used the diversion of the missile to dart forwards, her fists poised to deliver a vicious uppercut to the Jitternaut.

When the big metal stick swung, Leader moved.

It rolled over on its side and in turn ceased its bloody screech which only brought volumes to a more bearable state. It was exactly the same time it rose to its feet that a tufted ear twitched and it heard the strike of a meteor be delivered into its other which spelled only one thing: Death.

Biter was nowhere to be seen but the fact it could still feel its presence, told Leader its other was still alive. That made two. Not one, but two-- technically three since Biter had fled and still not a single one of them had been killed. There had been three of them, and neither one had been successful. Annoying. Aggravating even. It made Leader growl in detest at the bags of flesh that were proving to be more trouble than it thought but at the same time, it new that at this rate it would have to use its full deck if it wanted to rid these walking food bags of their burdens.

But at the same time...it recalled the events of the week before. How many of it had died to the giant Jiternaut before it had to resort to playing dead to keep on living? Were these mere sacks of meat really worth the trouble?

No the voice in its head told it. And for a second, Leader intended to growl an argument of refusal. But then it remembered...the bags of meat had just beaten not one, but two and with Biter gone, possibly injured another.

That was three. Three out of its pack, each just as skillful as it but not a single one down.

Leader growled a horrible growl from all four mouths and then those mouths clicked back into one. Retreat the voice in its head told it.

And Leader did. It would retreat. So that it could live to see another day.

Turning and running, Leader zigzagged in all directions, ears perked and hearing alert for any sign of movement that may come after it. It headed up north into the woods, rushing off, far away from the man that smelled of Giant blood, the Liar, the boy, the noisemaker, and the fox. It fled from them all as fast as it could.

And then in a matter of seconds, it was gone just as soon as it came. Leaving behind one final hacking, yipping laugh in remembrance as it disappeared into the woods.

"Well", Second said as he re-materialized. "That...wasn't terrible. Given this was your first time you all did pretty well. However", orange eyes turned to look around, "We'll need to talk about a few things on our way back." And without another word Second began a slow step out of the urine scented environment, towards the sanctuary of Haven Academy.

If there was one thing Larisa hadn’t been expecting it was for the Grimm they were fighting to completely disappear. She was already mid twirl reading another blow as the creature jumped right over the two of them. With a thud Reverence had landed uselessly in the ground before her. Well that happened. She pulled the weapon back up holding it horizontally as she thickened her fog around the area reaching out slowly to see where the Grimm were fleeing to. Running was never a good sign, it meant they were planning. Part of her was annoyed at Grand’s need to monologue, obviously they weren’t going away that easily.

“Guys… we may wanna get to a higher vantage point.”

No sooner than she said it did she realized the sound of the jitternauts were mixed in with another creature. Just what did they grab? She dropped the fog as grabbed Nic throwing him over her shoulder before grappling straight up getting them both out of the immediate danger zone. She could barely hear Grand from their position in the trees as the stampede was getting louder. She focused on releasing her fog while avoiding Qwin and Jean, after all the goal was to get enemies confused without getting in their way.

“Oh isn’t that lovely information. If we aren’t going to set it on fire or shoot it how are we killing it? If we direct our aura to strength I’m pretty sure that thing will skewer us alive.”

She looked to Qwin and Jean before returning to look down at the hoard below. Technically they had the advantage of being in higher ground but that would mean nothing if they wound up getting knocked out of the trees. She thickened the fog as much as she could to surround the Grimm below. If nothing else it should distract them long enough for them to make a plan.

“I mean we could try to just make one quick knockout of them by attacking from above, but there are… numerous things that could go wrong with that. Ultimately I don’t think we have all that time to make the decision.”

Just seconds before landing, Larisa had responded to his call much to his delight since it meant he could reach the ground without the Grimm towering over him. In the corner of his eye, he saw the Grimm retreat from Larisa with the other one as he started to pick up his board. The Clone started talking, and before he could warn them his ears had perked up at the sound of a group heading their way. Nic's eyes shot up at the trees, his short statue suddenly becoming painfully obvious when looking up at the tall trees, especially when he knew he would have to scale up on it quickly. Gripping his board, he started frantically trying to think of ways he could quickly get up, only for himself to be thrown over the Rasporian female's shoulder as she zipped both of them up into the trees.
His flattened a little in a mixture of embarrassment and relief, mostly the latter of course because down below the hogs and their new riders had stormed in. Nic gripped onto the tree slightly, his heart racing at the thought of what could have happened if Larisa hadn't zipped him up with her . . . And also the fact he was suddenly zipped up to the treetops, something he definitely didn't want to find himself falling from, especially with the Grimm down below. His hold on the inside handle of his board tightened as well, he definitely didn't want to lose that again. The Clone was right, they needed a plan.
"Well, we are above them but that's a bit of a risk I personally wouldn't take." He mumbled out loud in thought, still holding onto the tree for dear life. He wasn't quite sure if he could pull off the same stunt as Larisa could. The fire didn't work that much and it had the hazard of starting a forest fire which would be bad for all of them-- and why the fuck are trees so high up from the ground? He could actually use a weapon but he didn't really want to do that . . . then again, the Clone did feel the need to help them and that was an embarrassment in itself.
"It seems like your spear is quite sturdy," His words directing to Jean, "If they're quick to charge just like they charged at Grand's clone, we could try to find a way to get them charging right into your spear. Larisa's fog could hide the intention until the last second."
That would take out at least one if not more, but they also needed to take care of the riders but the hogs would protect them. He could try to distract the rider's hogs, while Crimson focused some attacks on the riders, possibly knocking them off the Grimm they somehow trained. Maybe he was over thinking these things? Seriously though . . . how the fuck is he getting down? Larisa is gonna help him get down . . . right?

It was over. If the ground was cleaner, Faris would have fallen to his knee and took a deep breath. However, the Aooma's territory had a heavy scent of urea everywhere, so he was sure it wasn't sanitary. Nope. He wouldn't be touching the ground soon. He did not just laid down on a piss smelling ground either. Faris tried to ignore the smell on his surrounding (and body although he wouldn't admit it) by taking the chain that restricted the Aooma. They didn't manage to kill all of them, but he was fine with it. At least no one died.As he followed Professor Second on the way back, he considered undoing the aura chain, but decided against it. They weren't safe yet. It was still Grimm's territory. Even so... Faris gave everyone around him a glance and sighed out of relief. Everyone looked unharmed! Even Eva, who he unintentionally tripped.

Professor Second's criticism, however, made him a bit unsure.

Professor Second clearly scolded Eva and praised Nuadha, while Emi and Seong received a mixed review. How about him? Does trying to communicate count as a good thing? Well, he did fail to communicate but he tried, right? So did he do well or not? Faris refrained from asking the professor to elaborate his review, however, as Professor Second continued into a briefing about... another Grimm? Burgeks.

This time, Faris didn't waste another second.

Without waiting for their permission, he created four aura threads and attached them to everyone's waist. Seconds after he finished, at the same time Professor Second finished his briefing, two huge, boar-like Grimms appeared.

"U-um, everyone! I will throw you to a tree now!"

A chain wrapped around Seong's waist, while a second chain firmly took Emi and Eva. Or TRIEDto. Faris used his left foot as a pivot, and whipped his right hand forward, like throwing a ball. It was possible to throw them without performing the motion. However, Faris hadn't been able to master his Aura to his fullest yet, and as such, he must make use of muscle memory to help him increasing his control. The chain threw Seong toward a distant tree, while the second pair was thrown to a tree a few meters away from the Grimms. Nuadha was... well, Nuadha.

"Brute force... I'll try restraining their movements..."

Faris connected the two chains into one singular chain. He wrapped the end of the chain into a branch, and pull himself upward. As he perched on the tree, the chain slithered down his right wrist and floated in front of the Burgeks, a short distance from the ground. Previously, one end of the chain was always attached to Faris' wrist. But this time, he controlled them from afar. Being on a level ground with the Grimms would be dangerous this time. He couldn't risk it.

The chain extended itself in front of the Grimms like a trap wire. When the Burgeks rushed toward it, they would wrapped themselves around the Burgeks limbs in an attempt to immobilise them.

Against the Burgeks, Faris dedicated himself to support. From the previous fight, he had learnt better about everyone's fighting style. Nuadha was close to a defender. Seong was a long distance melee specialist. Emi was a strong hitter maybe? He only guessed from her weapon. Eva... fight with her body? He didn't manage to see her fight. The best way to utilise their team would be to let Nuadha defends against the Burgeks, for him and Seong to restrain the Grimms from wounding Nuadha, and for Emi and Eva to quickly defeat them.

...at least that was what he had in mind. He couldn't say it outloud.

Grand's words filled Nuadha with pride, and he would make sure to take heed of them for the future. "Yes sir! From now on I shall protect my friends by protecting myself, too!" They walked on with Grand filling the rest of his team in on what they did well, what they should improve on, and finally what they would be doing next. In the interim, Nuadha approached Emi. He was happy to see that she was okay, and made sure he expressed as much to her. "Do not despair. You will definitely do better next time!'

Some moments later, the treeline shuddered and Grand announced their next opponents. Nuadha's hands trembled with excitement. Two life-or-death battles back-to-back. What a glorious day! Faris was the first to act. As expected of such a formidable classmate. His battle instincts were truly a marvel to behold, Nuadha thought as he watched the chain-user's plan unfold, of which he was meant to play a role. The role of the defender, if he was not mistaken! Thank you for entrusting me with this duty, Faris! I shall not disappoint.

Nuadha spotted the closest of the two beasts, their thundering hooves causing the very ground to shake as they charged. He also took note of Faris' chain trap, and took much care that he did not spring it upon himself! There. The battlefield was set. It was time for the opening moves. "A test of strength! Mine against yours. What could be more marvelous? I graciously accept!" Nuadha shouted at the stampeding Burgeks as he too began to advance. A walk. A trot. A run. Finally he was sprinting full out. "I shall force you to admit unconditional defeat!" He lowered his shoulder, fortified by Aura and the armor he wore, and prepared for the inevitable impact. Then, in the split second before the two fast moving objects collided, Nuadha underwent his gigantification.

Heralded by a sound like a thousand tree limbs snapping in unison, coupled with a sudden surge of Aura, the young giant explosively transformed into something that truly befit the name, Giant. Leveraging his sudden, newfound size to his advantage, Nua halted the beast's charge in its tracks, making a wall of his own body. Assuming a grappling stance, the two titans battled one another, while he attempted to put the monster on its back, bringing to bear the full weight of his new, muscular form while taking extra care to steer clear of its goring tusks.

Qwin/Crimson Song
Qwin.jpg
Crimson watched as the Grimm that he shot was taken out by Larisa and the other Grimm started to run. He was about to run after them but stopped seeing as his team weren't following. Minutes passed as he waited patiently and the Grand clone gave another annoying speech. Though it was cut off by an apparent threat and the clone giving them orders. Crimson didn't see the point of getting to higher ground as he could easily stop at least one of the Burgekshires with his bare hands as he is a brute himself. His other teammates could have dealt with the rest. Though he did listen to the man as he didn't want to cause any other complications today. So he ran toward a tree and banged his hammers together behind him. This sent a shockwave out that he used to get partway up the tree and he climbed the rest of the way up on his own.

After getting up the tree he joined his group in trying to make a plan. "I am not the plan type. So it is probably best for one of you to come up with something. Though I can at least tell you what I can do. I can always act as bait. My qin hardens my skin and gives me more strength so I should be able to take at least a few hits if needed to stop them from moving. Or I can use my hammers to take shots at the riders or use my sound waves to try and knock them off. So Nic's spear plan could work with me as bait or attacking the riders." As he spoke he never took his eyes off the fog below. If the Grimm were smart enough to get mounts than they could have spears or something of the sort as well. So staying in the trees might only be a temporary peace. "Though whatever the plan is we need to come up with it fast."

Eva was prepared to be pounced on. She swung again and Leader leaped away from her. The beast was away for now, but now she had current problems. The chaos was instantly starting to mount and Eva noted a clear need to get her bearings. She looked around gathering all of her info. The sniper was covering the squad. The Kitsune was overwhelmed by the noise, the giant was getting ready to fight and the asshat who hit her was taking a nap. . . 'Great.'

The human wanted to strike out, to lash out but she watched instead. Her head swivelling from her team to the leaping leader. The abomination mid-leap with 3 new mouths, a shock-wave blew Eva on her back. She struggled to get up, and once the beast landed Eva scrambled back up to be met with the gaze of Hunter's eye. Merely waiting for her to make a move, it's what it wanted. It took no time for Eva to have her own plan. Forming her other arm into a blade she waited. She waited for one to make a move, most likely the leader who was now nowhere to be found.

Eva's eyes became focused on the Grimm circling Nuadha . It was not long at all before he charged and delivered a crippling blow on Hunter. It was genuinely impressive, it shattered the armour. Evaline swore it was dead, there was no way it could have survived that in her mind. It got flung back at least 5 feet. Then it just had to get up and growl.

The thing started to move damn fast, faster than Eva could see. She kept in a stable open defensive stance with both her blades held close to her body. But she seemed not to be a target.

It was dispatched in brutal fashion. The chain guy hit it. 'He was bound to hit the right one eventually' Eva thought to herself as she continued to watch the whole situation unfold. with it all. It happened all too quickly for Eva to even do anything. She had no way to close to gap so she just continued to hold her ground. Watching as her teammates took care of the threats. It wasn't that bad really, Emi was back in the fray. Seeming to now hold her own and that sword was now a gun the size of her. . . how ridiculous. was all she could think.

All this happening Eva totally forgot about the sniper. Swivelling around she saw the tree taken down. 'Great! Let's hope we don't have to go looking for his body' Another thought flew through her mind. She realized that the pressure of the screeches was gone as the friendly fire happy sentry swung that big hammer. 'Why does everyone here have a sword, gun or flail at-least twice their size' another unimportant thought flew through her mind. She started forgetting she was even in combat. Not paying attention to around her before she realized she had stood there doing nothing while her team cleaned it all up. Which was not the first time.

Deciding that now after seeing Second it was maybe time to hear she formed her ears back to normal shape and instantly got a bit sick. Pressures are a bitch. But the Leader was taking off and she had a half, a mind to follow him. Alas, that would make her a even bigger detriment to the team. The human trailed behind the group as the walked back. A bit ashamed that she just stood around and did nothing. None the less Eva was eager to get out of the piss smelling environment, with or without shame. Reforming her arms from blades to hands and her skin tone turning back to normal as she walked with Grand.

The talk Eva was a bit more ashamed of. It felt like being lectured at home, and all she could give in response was a smirk of no regrets. She felt like she had proper reason for what she did but it was still bad to be judged. It would just cause unnecessary drama to argue otherwise so she just swallowed the advice Grand gave.

Eva expected to keep walking and her mind trailed off as such, wondering what she was going to do if she got put in another team like this. Mostly as Grand talked about the others. Then in the back of her mind, she heard Second mention something about briefings. With a quick pivot of the neck, Eva turned to face Grand.

    "Wai-12 seconds?!"

Eva wasted no time absorbing everything Second said but he simply did not talk fast enough. By the time he got to the actual crucial part on how not to die Eva was panicking quickly forming her body to fight. Making her 2 arms blades once again. Her skin tone once again becoming a light red tint. She heard to get on the high ground, and she moved to a tree directly away from all the movement. Though half-way there she was grabbed by a chain. She turned the other way and nodded. She didn't have faith in him but it would have taken her hours to get up a tree. She was flung up, and she soon reached a huge Cedar tree. She stabbed into the tree with an arm and climbed to a nearby branch. She sat on the branch and to make a plan.

Eva watched from above. Waiting to see if maybe she could strike from above. Readying her blades and getting into a leaping three-point stance from the branch.

Just as she fired her cannon the Grimm rolled to evade, the shell careening past where it had been to land in the distance with a boom. She tracked the creature's movements, leveraging the barrel of her weapon to fire another shot. Another shot that'd never come as the Grimm was quick to retreat. It's zigzagging made it impossible to land a solid shot and she didn't trust the splash effect to do much so after a few seconds she clicked her tongue as her weapon shifted back into sword form. Placing it back on it's clasp behind her back she turned towards the source of the Professor's voice. With one last look in the direction the Grimm fled she followed after the Professor, staying a ways back behind the rest of the group. She insisted on being the last one, it was the only way she could keep an eye on everyone. Even if this Eva girl also hung back slightly, Emi just made sure to be even further back. Wasn't like she couldn't hear the lecture anyways.

The lecture was largely irrelevant to her. All she got was a bit of praise and some absurd directive. It wasn't paranoia if it was true. But the professor was a human, he never experienced what she did, he didn't understand. Was just more bullshit being thrown at her by privileged humans who could never understand. She mostly tuned out the lecture, really just ignoring everyone there other than to spare a quick glare at the Giant for his comments. The last thing she needed was a Giant of all people trying to console her. Her ears perked straight up at the shift in topic. Large, durable Grimm coming their way? A small grin tugged at her lips. She'd show these humans what she was worth. They'd recognize her power if she just took one of the Burgeks out in the opening seconds of the fight. With that in mind she pulled her weapon from her back and levelled it in the direction of the Burgeks, it shifting into it's cannon form along the way. She held her aim steady, waiting for the new enemies to reveal themselves. Her wait was brief as another copy of the professor came sliding through the trees quickly followed by the rampaging Grimm.

It was a bit cumbersome having First in the way, but it wasn't anything she couldn't handle. Her finger was on the trigger, already pulling it back to net the first kill. However, just as she was about to loose her round she felt something around her waist. Distracted she looked down to see one of Faris' chains taking hold of her. "What do you-" She was abruptly cut off by his comment about throwing them. "Wha-!? Wait! Sto-!" She could only get a few words out before she was suddenly hurled through the air along with Eva. The string of curses flowing through her mind would make a Vacuo sailor blush. But her trip through the air came to an end as she gracefully grabbed hold of the tree and swung herself down and around to land on a large branch. The moment she had secure footing she shot deathly glare at Faris. "What the hell is wrong with you!?"

She was so tempted to level her weapon at the tree Faris found himself perched on. It was only because of her own self-preservation, and the fact that she couldn't fire from a tree, that she didn't send that imbecile back to the ground. Instead she opted to slam a clenched fist against the tree, the impact cratering the wood and causing the entire thing to shake. Because of that idiot she'd lost her chance to quickly take one of the Burgeks out and now the Giant was in direct combat with one of them. Only way she could properly fight would be to jump in and have at it, but that'd put her at risk from her 'teammates'. She thought back to the Professor's lecture. Paranoia. Right. Yet here she was, being actively screwed over and having her safe and easy option stolen from her so she'd be forced to risk her safety in close quarters combat. Yet she was just paranoid. She let out a long sigh to calm herself down.

"Screw it." She muttered quietly to herself as her weapon shifted back into it's sword form. If they tried to get her killed she'd just disengage and kill them first. She was strong. She was durable. She couldn't be blindsided that easily. So with that in mind she took another deep breath and stood straight atop the branch, looking down at the second Burgek not being grappled by the giant. That was her target. Even with Faris sabotaging her it was still possible she could bring it down to one opponent. Her Aura flared up as she activated her Qin. Strength flowed through her body, far outstripping anyone short of Nua could possibly bring to bare. For added measure she also used her Ki, channeling that into her Qin to ramp up her strength to even more absurd levels. She had one shot before the Grimm was out of range, she was going to make the most of it. Raising her sword she kicked off the branch, using the momentum to propel her down to one of the unoccupied Burgeks. "HIYAAEH!" She cried out as she swept the colossal blade downwards, using all of her strength to bring it right through the armored grimm.

The shot hit, the ice working alongside Faris’s chains to make the target immobile. From there it was a clear win for Nua, he’d yet to see someone with more physical power in their swings. He made his way down the tree intending to hunt down his own Grimm and get back into the fight. He still had to find Eva as well if he ran into her first but that wasn’t high up on his priorities. If all the Grimm were dead then they were safe, which meant they either killed off all the grimm or retreated, and Grand definitely wasn’t letting them retreat.

Though as per usual it seemed Grand was out to surprise them as he allowed the grimm to retreat into the forest. Part of him wondered why this supposed hero was fine with letting them get away to develop stronger intelligence, but it wasn’t like the dude hadn’t proven to be useless the rest of the time. He jogged back to the main path loading back up the used round. He sure as hell was not getting caught off guard again, even once the left this utterly foul area. Damn he hoped that smell didn’t cling to them, especially with how much rolling around in the ground he’d done.

The feedback he was giving was the most basic he’d ever heard as Grand went down the list. Not to mention a downright lie for the furry. What was he trying to build the confidence of the half-pint? He could feel himself stewing and almost didn’t realize it was his turn until he felt a hand clamp down on his shoulder. Instantly he felt his face burn up and a growl build up in his throat. He turn fully to face grand before hissing out complaints.

“Oh yeah buddy well the favoritism pretty clear for you too. You couldn’t even think of something to comment on beyond thanks for not continuing to fuck up. She had to be taken away from the battle, that hurts teamwork. Did Nua or Faris even get to know when she returned? I didn’t know if she was meant to be back or was continuing to be an idiot. Why should I let my team get harmed for someone that can’t even handle themselves a MINUTE into the fight?”

He heard Grand claim more were on the way he instantly putting up his Aura into a defensive cloak. He was about to scale the nearest tree when he felt Faris’ chain connect with him throwing him back. Perfect. He’d gotten far further than he’d naturally get on his own thanks to it. When they got back he owed them both dinner at the least, especially considering he doubted things would be going so smoothly had he been paired with most other people. In fact the way things were going with Eva and Furry he’d be glad so long as the next shuffle they did could at least think.

Especially considering the furry was ignoring Grand’s advice. He let out a sigh as he saw the approaching Grimm, he waited until he could line up his shots and then methodically aimed for the eyes. 2, 4, 6, 7. He shot off all of his plain Aura bullets. The ice ones would be less capable of restricting these beasts. He took a moment to reload the sniper, the action feeling routine. How many bullets did he have left?
