Aeros Gabel "Able"

Able looked at the professor as he spoke. He was giving off this... vibe. Like screaming out, "Able! Please make me something to kill things with! I need you to make it, no one else can!" Or something like that. Sadly he ended the answers short. Able frowned, he wanted to know why people were there. He crossed his arms to try and show disobedience or to be a rebel, but he didn't say anything as to not get himself in trouble. But then the professor brought out a remote, and Able's eyes widened slightly. This has to be interesting, he has so many buttons, and there's no T.V or anything, so it has to be cool.

Able sat up and when the professor pressed the button, the room changed into a luscious forest with animals and tree's moving in the wind. It was the whole shebang. Able swatted at a bug that flew by, he tried to catch it but when he opened his hand there was nothing. He frowned for a moment then was in aw again as he saw birds fly above. He looked back to the professor as he explained where this was, and why it was important. But when the professor pressed the button again, everything went dark, the lighting faded into a dusty mess. Grimms popped up left and right, along with Paladins. They fought, and fought. Then everything went truly quiet, and the trees died, animals were being killed, and worst of all, the weapons were all beat up and broken everywhere. A single tear ran down Able's face as he whispered to himself. "This is the worst thing I've ever seen." He went to reach for a broken weapon, but as he went for it the professor broke the silence and made Able jump.

Able listened and looked at the professor, waiting for him to finish so he could grab the weapon without being caught. But when he finally did take a break from talking, the classroom went back to normal and a giant monster appeared in the front of the class. Able's smile gleamed, it was almost too wide, he wanted to yell out but the professor just kept talking and talking. Why wouldn't the monologue end? This was terrible. And when he finally did stop talking, others asked questions. One seemed to get on the professors nerves. The professor went back to talking about how it wasn't a scare tactic, which Able didn't think was the case one bit, but how it was an example really. Able stood up and slammed his hands on the desk, then pointed at the professor. "CAN WE DO THAT AGAIN!?" His smile etched into his face, he was excited more then ever. "That was the best thing since school started and it was over before it started!" Able frowned and crossed his arms, he threw himself back into his chair and listened to what came next.

Ivan Sablich
Haven | Grimm Studies

Slamming his hand down on his table Ivan leaned forward in his seat, and shot a glare at Able with all the fury of a pissed off rhino.

Hearing his last few words, was like listening to a child. And given what they just saw and his own personal experiences with stuff like this...it made his stomach churn.

"The least you could do, was act like seeing that meant something." And as he said it he rose to his feet, scowl and all.

Yes that had been horrible to see. Yes, he got what the professor was trying to say. He didn't doubt anyone had. But if you were going to ask a question related to the technology, why ask to be shown that atrocity again?

He took a deep breath and exhaled slowly as he forced his gaze onto his table. "I get it. That was cool. The technology behind it was impressive. But for fuck's sake, don't you get it?" He turned his blue eyes on Able and didn't care if anyone was looking at him because frankly he didn't care about their opinions on his current reaction. "That whole forest is gone. All those lives, all those animals, all that land, whether all those Paladins fought in it or not, something like that happened. It happens every fucking day. Even right now while we're sitting in this classroom, someone, somewhere, or some place or some city, is going through this exact kind of shit. And you want to see it...again?"

His brows were furrowed, his eyes were narrowed and he gave Able a pointed glare that actually dared him to say 'yes' to that rhetorical question.

Uttering a frustrated sigh, Ivan sat back down and looked at Prof. Grand with a question of his own. "How long did it take for Ginyin Forest to be destroyed, sir?"

Staring at Able, Prof. Grand's eyes shifted to Ivan briefly. "5 months. But if we're being exact, Ginyin Forest and the two villages near it were destroyed in 8 months total. Citizens were evacuated with minor casualties but those areas were never reclaimed, only trimmed down the number of Grimm about two decades ago."

Clenching his fist tightly Ivan sighed. "...I see. Thank you sir." He didn't say anything further. But he did cast one solemn glance Able's way before turning his attention to a nearby window.

Hearing Aeros' blunt critique toward Nuadha's answer, Faris couldn't help but frown. The answer was simple, but there was no need to be so forward about it. He thought about responding back at him, but other students had started to contribute their answer, so he reluctantly put Aeros' retort in the back of his mind. He almost lurched forward hearing Ramona's answer. Here because she was told to? He didn't expect too many of the Sentries to have noble goal, but that answer took him by surprise.

The professor raised his voice, drawing everyone's attention as several people had started to talk among themselves. The professor took out a kind of remote, and what followed was almost as surprising as Ramona's reason for being a Paladin. Greenery took over the room. Trees of astounding vitality, animals he hadn't seen before came into live. As the professor used a remote to create the scenery, the forest around him should be a projection. Even so, as he had never travelled far into a forest, it was still an amazing view.

Then the scene changed.

Grimms, of various size and shape, went through the pristine forest. The animals ran. An albino rabbit scampered away, only to be ravaged by a wolf-like Grimm. Faris watched all of this with widened eyes. Does he have to fight... these? The forest was slowly reduced to ruin. Trees reduced to ash. Ground scorched. Claw marks. There was no sign of the previously peaceful forest. What was left was akin to a wasteland. A no man's land. Does he have to go against beasts like that in that number?

Once again, the professor used his remote to change the scenery. The monstrosity that appeared next only made him only even more uncomfortable. Is he strong enough to fight against Grimm?

Professor Grand closed his speech and opened a question and answer session. When Aeros asked for the projection to be shown once again, he felt his stomach churning. The scene was exciting? Is he a sadist or something? He recalled his father mentioning about some bloodthirsty hounds (metaphorically) that only feel alive on the scene of carnage. Is Aeros one of those people? Faris had thought of Aeros as an energetic (albeit a bit rude) boy, but he started to change his mind. Before he could say anything to Aeros, Ivan stood up and rebuked him first. Ivan sounded like a reliable person, on the other hand. At least from his answer, he had a noble goal to become a Paladin.

Ivan ended his tirade by asking the professor a question. A forest destroyed in five months? Faris didn't know if that's considered as long or short, but it still didn't put him at ease. He raised his hand until his upper arm is on level with his shoulder, and asked a question,

"Does Grimm always appear like this? Numerous and... strong enough to destroy a forest?"

He didn't want to become a Paladin only to die the next he is notified of a Grimm attack. The stories he heard about Grimm rarely mention something like what he had seen.

Terra was still mentally face-palming at a few people’s reasoning for becoming Paladins when Prof. Grand caught her attention, yet again. The girl rose a questioning brow at the remote in the teacher’s hand, wondering what exactly was he going to do this time around. Her eyes widdened in suprise at the flora and fauna suddenly over-taking the room. If she hadn’t seen the remote in Prof Grand.’s and if she hadn’t heard stories of the Academy from her aunt Ash, Terra would have thought this was real. But of, course it, couldn’t be.

Looking down, Terra noticed a small bear cub –of all things!- resting on her -now grass covered- desk, looking at her through big, innocent eyes. Terra replyed with a half-amused half-annoyed look – it was as if the cub knew she was hidding her bear faunus ears under her hair. However, before she could contemplate the teddy anymore, another change took over the room.

If the bruenete ever regreted asking herelf a question, that was "What is the point of this?” Terra felt her heart freeze when the atmoshepre suddenly changed. The beauty of the forest was gone, being replaced with a gut wreching fight between Palladins and the Grimm. Terra bit her bottom lip, almost hard enough to draw blood. The scene playing before her eyes was awful ... and the worst part, the only thing going through her head in that moment was "Did my mother die in a fight like this one?”

Aftter it was finally over, Terra had to take a few momets to regain her composture. It wasn't like her to get so emotional. She knew what she had signed up for. She wasn’t going to let herself be killed by the Grimm! She would show her father ... no, She would show the whole world she was actually strong.

With newly found determination, Terra was about to raise her hand and ask Prof. Grand. a question when the voice of a blond boy –Gabe ... Able?- caught her attention. Luckly –Ivan, was that his name?- started scolding said boy in a "civil" manner, because if she had opened her mouth first, there was no telling what kind of profanities would have come out. After hearing Ivan talk, Terra felt herself calming down ... but still, she felt the need to say something.

"He’s right, you know?" Terra spoke for the first time that day. "You should at least stop and consider we might end up in a smiliar situation in the future. It’s not so amazing to be in the middle of the action when you're at risk of getting killed.” She said darkly, sending Able a harsh glare, before moving her eyes back of Prof Grand. While the reason for Terra scolding Able was quite selfish –she would have keept her mouth shut if she hadn’t lived in a village near the border between Vacuo and Vale and if her mother hadn’t been killed by the Grimm- everything she said was true. At least that was how she saw things.

... but dang, she got so mad she completely forgot what she wanted to ask the Professor.

Warm Bodies and Warmer Hearts || Seong's CS File
Everyone seemed so into the class when all he wanted to do was sleep through it. He didn’t know what the teacher was expecting he’d be able to teach that Seong hadn’t heard about from Minnie or seen first hand in the mines. Grimm Studies was suppose to be a useful class not storytime. While he was happy Able and crew were having fun, especially since Able was one of the few he’d bother to talk to yet, that wasn’t enough to make him want to stay up. Heck watching Able tinker with the watch was more entertaining.

He’d only just barely managed to ignore the Momma’s girl and the loudmouth’s conversation and start to nod off when he heard Grand call the room to attention. Damn old man. He straightened up in his seat hopping it was time for actual learning. Still it seemed it was back to questioning morality, you old fuck would it kill you to actually teach.

He watched along with the others as green was enveloped in dust and the people fell. How Tragic, why are they watching this again. He didn’t know what Grand thought, did the man expect them to be sheltered? Okay actually that’s a fair expectation of Atlas actually, maybe he wasn’t doing this for nothing. Still he knew damn well what could happen from getting on the wrong side of a Grimm, they had a whole protocol for when they did.

He almost wished it was less of a silent shit. He went back to laying on the desk intending to stay there but he jumped up as he felt the desk weakening. Scratches and marks appeared up the side and he scooted the fuck back before it collapsed entirely. You absolute shit head what if people were paying more attention to your fucking mirage and got collapsed on. He emphasized immediately with snake boy as he hopped to his feet.

“Greater questions have never been asked.”

He turned to glare heavily at Grand as he heard “Lets do that again” from Able. He tried with all his might to communicate that if he had to do that again and he couldn’t blast them he was blasting the teacher. He was just about to grab his gun too from the floor when he heard a slam behind him. He listened to about three sentences of his crap before he turned around and faced him with all the misdirected irritation at the professor.

“Hey Goodie Goodie get off your high fucking horse. Yeah it’s happening right now, you alone are not going to change that. Eradicate the Grimm? In your fucking dreams. They aren’t finate they’re born they keep being born and noone knows how. This stupid viewing didn’t mean anything. Real viewing means something, this was scare tactics.”

He took a breath in before continuing as he walked towards the man that was now ignoring the world again. Nope nope that’s not what was happening he was not gonna insult others working to fucking kill these goddamn Grimm just cause he had a stick up his ass.

“Hey idiot just because a person looks at something from the past and doesn’t automatically care doesn’t mean they won’t care. Do you think that not caring about some shit that happened before most of us were born means we’re any less vulnerable to the Grimm? They kill everything! Guess what if you wanna stay in your dumbass mourning corner, be my guest but fuck off if you think everyone should spend their whole lives there. What matters is the now, what fucking part of this helps us become better Paladins? ‘Cause from what I see you want us to become PLEASANT PALADINS.”

Jean“Well, that’s the deal, isn't it?” Jean suddenly spoke. She had remained quiet as she watched the hologram work its magic. She was no stranger to the destruction that the Grimm wrought. After all, she had faced them multiple times already. She had seen their might and ferocity first hand, and the acrid smell of their burning corpses before they faded into ashes in the wind still stung her nose as she watched the holographic Grimm gallop past her. When the lightshow ended, the rest of the class was quick to make their thoughts be known. Unwilling to let this silly debate keep going, she stepped in. “That's what puts the Paladins apart from guys like the Saviours.” Jean raised her eyebrows, and smiled wanly. “You know, those really angry people that kill both Grimm and people alike if they are standing them between them and their treasures.” She leaned back on her chair and rested her head on both of her hands. “That’s why Paladins ought to be pleasant, goody-two-shoes who do their best to uphold the public’s eye of them. Wouldn't do to have them running around being unsympathetic messes, would it?” She offered Seong a smirk. One would almost think it were a condescending one. These youths were yet untainted with the bitter coffee of life, yet to claw for survival, it was almost worth it to watch them squirm in their seats. The only exception, perhaps, was that musclehead lass. That was what she called strength. Yet, it felt like that strength was like untampered steel.

Jean clicked her pen on the table twice, then turned her words to Ivan. “That said, if you were going to keep lamenting the past, instead of learning from it, buddy, you got a long way to go.” She straightened up on her chair, and craned her neck over to look at the dark-haired boy. So strong, yet so weak. A paradox in and of itself. “As the Paladins are expected to play the good guys in this act, they are also expected to carry themselves with a hint of steel. Going all edgy and ‘waaah, we have to do something’ and expecting us to do the same isn't going to help us any. All we can do, as future Paladins, is bite down on harsh truths, and keep going.” She paused to let that sink in for a minute, then continued. “Because, friend, harsh truths are what you're going to meet every day. The fact that we’re here, in this class right now, is because we’re too weak. Maybe you’re raring to dive straight into training, and I won't fault you for that, but,” she cast a glance at Able, “not everyone is prepared to face vicious truths like he can. And God bless him for it.

She folded her arms and leaned back on her chair, again, a smile playing on her lips. “Now that we’ve established our respective character traits in this story, Ivan’s actually got the right idea. I’m aching to try my spearhand soon. An E.T.A. on the actual stuff we came here to do would be nice, teach.

He did not bother to dry his eyes before he too rose to speak after Jean had said her piece. Padding across the classroom floor until he was situated between the two men at odds with one another, he gazed at both of them in turn. Ivan. Seong. He beseeched them. "Please, friends, let us not fight amongst ourselves when the true enemy stands before us!" He jabbed an accusatory finger toward the cold, unmoving mass of undulating, black evil in front of them.

He, for his part, could not care less their reasons for in-fighting. What Nua now wanted, above all else, was to learn more about these creatures, the Grimm. How they were created, where they came from, and how they could be eradicated. His master had shown him some in the past, though they were nothing like what he'd just seen. Never before had he imagined them to be capable of the destruction they'd demonstrated today, despite his master's constant assurance to the contrary. He had been a fool to doubt that such malice could exist. But he would be foolish no longer.

"Jean is correct." He asserted, turning his attention to Grand as she had done. "I too would like to test my mettle against these creatures. I hope I am not alone in saying that, to prevent any more tragedies from befalling our world, I am willing to fight! But to do so, I will need your help, Professor. Please continue the lesson!" He clapped his hands and made a low bow. Then, returning to his space, he waited for the class to resume. Hopefully there would be no further harsh words and no lingering ill will between his peers, his brothers-and-sisters in arms. How can we hope to fight against the darkness, when we're so preoccupied with fighting ourselves?

Ah yup now there was an honest answer. A downright respectable one too, everyone loved a strong woman. She would have continued on if not for Grand immediately butting into the conversations. Not cool dude, but points for the lovely forest. It almost reminded her of a less snowy version of home. She was all ready to sit back and love the feel of familiarity before she heard him say that it had changed, she went straight to her feet watching as it changed the layout of the room.

The rumble of the Grimm sounded and instinctively she grabbed her weapon off the side of her desk and opened it to the full height of 5’6. For a moment she’d plan to charge, only to realized that the professor wasn’t looking at it. Were they not real then? How disappointing. Here she was expecting they’d get to fight. Even still she didn’t let go of her weapon ready to jump at a moment’s notice.

And damn was she not disappointed as the professor allowed an 80ft beast into the classroom. She was drumming with excitement to go attack the beast. Was this class made of utter idiots? She’d believe it cause honestly like a whole argument was going on back there, usually she’d be all in it but come on it’s kinda stupid. Especially as HELLO BIG GRIMM LET'S KILL IT, was totally the only thing on her mind right now.

“You guys are all fucking boring, Nua here has the right idea. Time to see if this does anything.”

Larisa aimed her grappling hook to one of the protruding structure high up and shot forwards getting herself airborne before aiming an attack right at the supposed grimm.

Terra was left speechless as almost half of the class ened up bickering. By this point, her lazynes kicked back in and she couldn't be bothered to get involved any further. "It's in times like thse..." the brunete started saying out loud, knowing everyone was too absorbed in their petty argument to pay her any mind "... that I'm thankful for being such an introvert." She finished, sitting back in her chair, crossing her arms over her chest and watching the exchange with a half-bored half-annoyed expression. Honestly, she could see where everyone was coing from.

Ivan had made very good point when talking to Able, but Song -or was it Seong?- was right about the, admittedly badly worded, "moping all your life in a corner" part. Terra almost fell asleep -yet again- as another one of her female classmates started rambling about who knows what, before Nua's overly nice attitued snapped her back to reality. The fact that Nuadha always seemed so "perfect" intrigued Terra to the point of creeping her out, making said boy's name the only one she properly rembered, beside's Lari- ... Oh no. Not again.

"Larisa, what are you doing?" Terra asked, jumping from her seat in alarm. "You're going to hit a wall!" she said in horror. No matter how much of a handfull the pink haired girl could be, Terra couldn't let the only person she felt comfortable talking to hit a wall at full speed. Thinking fast, Terra jumped on top of a desk, trying to grab Larisa's ankle ... and didn't succeed.

Terra remained frozen on top of the desk, with her hand reaching upwards -lowley looking like some sort of stupid statue- as she failed stopping her roomate from attacking the remains of a Grimm Hologram. "Oh dear." was all she managed to say. The worst part was: she would have to find a new roomate if this one didn't make it.

Her classmate started fighting, it was a nice change of pace, also brought back the memories of home. People are not supposed to live together in harmony in Ramona’s opinion, each of us is different from one another enough to guarantee disagreement being a part of our lives. What matters is how you express your feeling. Just like the way arguments is required for a healthy relationship, a group without conflict can only be built on lies and distrust. The kind that Ramona had been too familiar with in the past. Which was why she glanced at the suspicious green haired giant as he went up to offer his fancy words of rationality. She could understand the Ivan guy, his anger and hatred toward the Grimm were driven by emotion, but the giant named Nuadha… if his words did come from his true feeling… is that even possible? He would be the kind of person so strange that Ramona can’t even begin to fathom.

The blonde girl was the kind she could understand. Realistic and logical, emotion and sympathy didn’t control that girl’s thought process. Ramona wondered whether she should get along with or beware of that girl in the future. Ramona also noticed someone else had retreated back into their own world just like her, this girl had been very quiet all the time saved for the time she scold the boy who started all this arguing, at the very least, she would get along with this one just fine.

Ramona was enjoying herself in her own little show of silently handing out judgements to her classmates when Larisa decided to put up a show for everyone to enjoy. The muscular girl lunged across the air with murder intent aim toward the hologram Grimm or the poor white wall behind it. Eyes wide opened, Ramona didn’t know how she supposed to react to something like that other than putting her money on the wall, this academy was well built after all.

One controlled breath in. One slow exhale out. Ivan listened to-- his eyes shifted over to the young man-- Seong, yes that was his name. If he recalled the first time they'd met he wondered why the guy always looked so angry or so frustrated or annoyed. But if he thought debilitating remarks was going to get his point across, Mr. Glare Stare, over here as he came into his line of sight was going to get another thing coming.

Turning his head away from the window and staring up at Seong with furrowed brows and his eyes moving back to Able, Ivan held his tongue when Jean spoke up and instead listened to what she had to say. The miss was right, lamentations got you nowhere. Whole reason he was here was so he didn't waste his time lamenting on what could've been done instead of thinking more on what he could help do.

A long exhale came from his nose and his lips pursed into a flat line as his face became a mirror of thought. Perhaps, he'd overlooked those facts Seong had just pointed out. Of that he could at least say he appreciated it being pointed out, even if the manner in which he'd been told was crude and not to his liking he couldn't retaliate to facts and truth.

"... V sleduyushchiy raz, kogda vy zakhotite sdelat' svoyu mysl', poprobuyte oskorbit' men'she. Eto umen'shayet tsennost' vashikh argumentov." Was all he said as he looked up into Seong's eyes.

"A person does not see this and ask to be shown it again. I am not a child, nor am I stupid. I understand the points you are trying to make" Ivan stated with finality, and as he did so he rose from his seat to meet Seong eye-to-eye, even if he had a minor height advantage. Sitting in a conversation like this was almost disrespectful to both parties. "I admit I let my emotions get the better of me, that was my fault. But" he added, "if you think I'm going to apologize for a question I asked him, then you won't be getting what you want." Turning his gaze to Able, Ivan's miffed expression shifted more into a less stern stare, not judging but observing. He didn't like making scenes like this and Nua had a point; infighting got them nowhere but Able's response just rubbed him the wrong way in all the ways. "If he wants to answer it with his own reasoning then fine. I'm always open to hearing other people out."

At least till he became distracted by the sound of something hitting the ceiling.

"Larisa, what are you doing?!"

The desire to sigh was overpowered by the desire to see-- "WHAT THE FUCK?!" Ivan had never moved past a person so quickly and jumped on top of a desk so fast, with so little time to keep his balance. Standing there watching a insane Rasporian, Ivan witnessed flippancy take a new level as Larisa, swung herself right into the waiting head of the birdish like Grimm.

And as she swung and got closer and closer, the hologram's neck expanded, flexed its muscles, and the empty white eyes, turned to stare right at the tiny girl as she drew closer and closer. Prof. Grand for his part, didn't do a thing. He had been distracted by a question Faris had asked and one he had yet to answer due to hearing Larisa's proclamation. And as the dark (and if Ivan were being honest), handsome man stood there watching he directed a single glance at Larisa.

Then his eyes moved to Ivan as if he already knew what he was planning.

Watching Larisa's descent from the height above, Ivan followed the direction he predicted she was headed and noted at the height she was falling and the way she was moving, the only stopping point would be the white wall in front of them all. If Larisa was agile, she could easily avoid this situation by using her weapon's grappling hook, but something told Ivan given how Terra had moved, and the interactions he'd had with the fiery Rasporian- agility wasn't necessarily one of Larisa's greatest strong points.

"God damn it Larisa, every freaking--" the rest of his words were mumbles as invisible minty green aura surfaced all over his body. And with one unsteady crouch and jump forward, Ivan jumped onto desk after desk, some empty, some belonging to his classmates in an attempt to catch up to the girl before she made contact with the wall. The only thing Prof. Grand did, was watch. Something that Ivan couldn't help but feel a small prickle of annoyance at as the orange man's eyes squinted from the lights above in trying to see the young girl make an attempt at a show of strength. To Grand, it was slightly amusing but in the scenario Ivan was unsuccessful he had back up plans set in case the bold student failed.

Ivan, didn't intend to.

Jumping over heads, leaping over desks, landing on the back of chairs with a foot and using his increasing enhanced strength to propel himself forward, Ivan reached the front of the room in the span of 9 seconds, just as Larisa's weapon came down on the giant bird that stared at her with uncaring, cold, and empty eyes.

Needless to say, her attack didn't mean much as it went right through the bird's head.

She more or less wasn't surprised as she righted herself the second she noted the thing wasn't solid.

This girl is nuts Ivan thought as they all watched her flip in the air from above and skillfully change her trajectory. But at least she isn't stupid.

Aura focused into his legs and with a preparing crouch as Larisa's flip completed and she curved closer to the wall, Ivan launched himself forward with a lift off that could rustle papers or cause subtle pushes of follicles within a eight foot radius. The second he nearly made contact with the wall, Ivan focused and crafted tiny metal spikes onto the flat of his shoes for grip, like make shift cleats and then without a waste of a millisecond, scaled the wall.

As he ran up, Larisa fell down at a distance that would require him to hump off his perch if he wanted to catch her. The second he was close enough, he did. And when he did they both fell. Plummeting, not 80 but 75 feet to the ground. For one brief second Grand prepared to catch them. He himself didn't move, but he was always ready to catch them as they drew nearer and nearer.

Instead, Ivan did a thing. Holding tightly around Larisa's waist with one arm and ensuring she was firmly in his grasp like a treasure one could not let go of, Ivan,s entire right arm pointed to the roof and became covered in shifting metal that anyone could see. The metal shifted and formed, then a hand shot out like a canon, connected to lines of chain mail around Ivan's wrist till eventually it grabbed something along the wall firm enough to swing forward on.

Swinging forward, Prof. Grand stepped out of the way as both Ivan and Larisa swung over the others, then feeling the strain from their combined weight, Ivan's metal hand that held onto something somewhere, gave up and they both came crashing down at around ten feet overhead.

Ivan stubbornly refused to let go of Larisa when they did. Instead using himself as a shield with her and the ground and placing his back in armor.

For that, Prof. Grand caught them both. Suddenly appearing and catching Ivan, who held onto Larisa and placing them gently on a nearby desk. Their combined weight didn't even slow him down and he barely seemed to have to strain himself at all in holding them both.

"Well" Grand said with a sigh as he patted both kids on the shoulder and moved away. "Faris, I'll answer your question in a bit. Anyone else want to attack the holograms? No? Yes? Any takers?" walking back to the front and leaving the two behind, Ivan could only sigh and drop his head against the table with a thunk. Forgetting Larisa was still in his arms.

The bear faunik was still frozen in place on top of the desk when Ivan 'came in to save the day'. Her lime green eyes were opend wide, a mix of surprise, unease and anticipation swirling in them. I wasn't like Terra didn't want to help, she really did ... but, unlike a certain knight in shining armour, she didn't have the right set of skills to acomplish ... well, anything that could help in this scenarion. All Terra could do was watch the pair of students currently 'flying' through the classroom untill Prof. Grand. finnaly caught the two. It was only then that she finally snapped back to reality.

"And there goes my already low self esteem ..." Terra mumbled under her breath as she finally jumped off the desk and down onto the floor. No, she shouldn't be thinking like this. So what if the guy seemed smart, acted like a gentelman, was quick on his feet, had a battle oriented Qin, and was handsome on top of all that. She could also-! oh, who was she kidding? If anyone had room to grow, that was her. She was probably one of the weakest people in the class when it came to direct combat. Luckly, Grimm were easy to fool. There was also the advanatge of being allowed to work solo so far - working in a team would most likely be the death of her. All in all, regardless of goals and motivations, Terra had a very long way to go untill she was ready to become a Paladin.

Slumping her sholder in defeat, the brunete quickly made her way to the front of the class where Larisa and Ivan were.

"Are you ... alright?" She asked after a moment of hesitation, feeling a bit awkward about the situation, despite the fact that she wasn't dirrectly involved in the whole thing - thing which she still beat heself up about.

The question was adressed mostly to Larisa, but Terra's eyes keept moving betten said girl and Ivan. "Is he intentionally keeping his hands on her waist, or ... ?" Terra sked herelf, raising a brow. To all the men who said they would never get women - Terra was most likely never going to get men either.

In what seemed to be an amazing twist of fate, his opinions had done a complete switch-a-roo. First vanilla boy Ivan gained some new flavors with his outburst, and to be quite frank he could understand what he was going on about. Things were pretty bad, it wasn't something to be treated lightly, Able's words were childish and failed to understand the effects if could have on the others around them. Not everyone could handle these sort of battles, heck some of the students here seemed to be unnerved just by seeing a fake hologram of it all. The Jean girl was insufferable, treating life like some drama on a stage-- he had seen people like this before, and debatably the man wearing the crown at home was something like this. Well if she could talk like that, she surely would be able to back it up with her skill, and that was something he was sure she would manage considering she also passed the exams. Able on the other hand . . . Seriously, how did he get here?
That was something he would have to see at a later time, but someone he would get a demo of in action was Larisa, who was currently leaping into action against a hologram.
Maybe this was why she wasn't at a Rasporian academy, aside from the fact it was heavily biased with their Paladins. It was foolish, but that wasn't the reason why he didn't react like the others. Just like the Professor he watched the scene play out curiously (and partially out of amusement), mostly since she was Rasporian, and surely she could manage on her own. It was a nice display of her skill, and even if she didn't stick the landing properly, a lady of her girth could take the blow. Even if he didn't react, he did take note of how the others did, noting that one of the girls did seem like she wanted to jump in to help the lady Rasporian, but was held back by her own mental weaknesses. From the corner of his eye, he did catch someone who did have both the courage and quick thinking skills leap into action, activating his Qin in a calculated flow to boost his mobility. While some less educated fellows would mistake this for a Mover type, paying close attention, Nic was able to capture the minty green aura coating him as he created an advantage for himself. It helped that Ivan had actually leaped over his desk during the mess that he was able to get a quick inspection, but that was beside the point.
Personally, he didn't think Ivan had to swoop in like some prince to save the supposed damsel in distress since by no means necessary did he see Larisa as a lady who needed saving . . . At least that was until Prof. Grand really did end up catching them, which prompted Nic's hand to leave his pocket as it hovered over his lip in his thinking position. Maybe he overestimated them?
Nic's flattened to the side as he exhaled slowly, letting his condensed aura disperse from his eyes, back to it's natural flow. He hoped that'd be the last act of chaos, since keeping it up for long periods of time was pretty draining, even with all of his practice on it. Turning his head at Sleeping Head Buns' voice asking about the student's wellbeing, he debated making a comment but decided against it. Someone like her probably wouldn't take it well . . .
Removing his hand from his chin, he raised two fingers again in a slight wave like before,
"Excuse the interruption to whatever answer you have in store for Faris but-- as interesting as that display was, why didn't you just turn off the holograms sooner?"
He didn't really expect a serious question, and in all honestly it wasn't completely Grand's fault. Who would have thought Larisa would get so triggered by something so fake? The Professor probably could have put a stop to the whole thing sooner if he just shut it off . . . Then again, seeing those eyes of his watching the chaos unfold, maybe it wasn't such a mystery as to why he didn't put a stop to it. To be honest, Nic was also interested in seeing that play out.

Jean couldn't stand it any longer.

She burst out laughing at both the musclehead and at Ivan, clapping a hand to her forehead, and arched backwards so far, her seat was on the verge of tipping over and sending her collapsing on the floor. “Oh my God.” She pushed herself back upright, her chair slamming back onto its four feet. “You guys are extremely precious. Do you get that turned on by seeing a Grimm, a fake one at that?” Jean’s eyes looked straight at Larisa, with merciless mirth lighting up her eyes. “I thought you were made of cooler steel, Ms. Gorilla.” She slammed her hand on the table and stifled another outburst of laughter, but only managed to lower it into a chuckle. This was hilarious! Right after Teach said it was a hologram, too! Did this girl literally have nothing in that brain of hers but muscle? “With that kind of ferocity and simple-mindedness, you’re better off playing amongst the Grimm themselves!” She couldn't stifle the next outburst, and went full out on another stream of laughter, clutching at her abs. This was straining her too much. She didn't ask for an abs workout so early in the morning.

She wheezed out her last laugh, and fell back onto her chair. Honestly, if musclehead’s first reaction to a Grimm was to charge head-on, and Ivan’s first reaction was to instinctively try and help, she wondered about the age old adage of ‘With allies like these, who needs enemies?’. Their reactions were, however, worth noting. It might come in handy one day. “Okay, now we’ve had all the silly fun, shall we, Teach?”

Able listened as Ivan got mad with him. He raised his voice and threw insults. Terra agree'd with Ivan. She seemed like she was unhappy about it. Able shrugged and and was going to respond when Song, his friend next to him, stood up for him. Able stared at Song as he went on his defensive tan git. Able thew his arm around Song and smiled, "You get the first prototype." He said as he threw himself back and wrote down some ideas for Song.

Able let everyone finish scolding each other as he drew some idea's until finally Ivan responded redirecting his "Question" back to him. Able shrugged then leaned forward leaning on his elbows staring at Ivan. "You can think I'm immature and dumb, but have you thought of it this way? The more I watch it, the better I'll be able to defend myself against it. What do boxers do before a fight? They study the enemy and plan against every move. If you want to look at this and think to yourself 'Poor Poor world, that could be me!' Then you're truly unintelligent. I want to help everyone in this room, including you. Your motives might not be very interesting but you can test my weapons and armor so we can be friends still." Able finished his little rant and leaned back continuing to write down ideas.

Able looked up when he heard Larisa starting a ruckus. And Able was so happy that he did look up, the best thing was happening. Larisa shot herself from her seat, though she had a pest around her waist, but that didn't stop her, they shot up, only to find themselves in the hands of professor grand. He set them down and placed them at a desk. Able exhaled out of his nose and went back to his journal. He finished doing a sketch and wrote notes pointing out certain things. He elbowed Song lightly and pointed down to his journal. "This is just an idea, but I can make it for you in a couple weeks, assuming you have a rifle already, if not, probably a month." He smiled as pointed to a drawing of a sniper, he pointed to the middle point pointing out that he had the idea to put two pistols together to make a sniper. So he could go from pistol to sniper in a matter of seconds.

The little history lesson was a bit much, and not in a good way. She'd had no experience with grimm, the idea that they could be so devastating while Atlas was so secure just didn't mesh with her. Seemed more like some dramatization than anything else. Even so, she knew Grimm were dangerous so even if it was exaggerated the events still took place. After the little display ended her classmates all went off in their own ways. Arguments abounded while the muscular girl decided to attack a hologram. As expected of a human, couldn't even figure out how her own technology worked. She glanced over at the blonde who was consumed with laughter. The loudness somehow drowning out the rest of the class.

She didn't really see what was so funny about the whole thing. Just humans being petty stupid creatures as per usual. They'd probably get more accomplished if they had Grimm themselves attending class over these savages. A small sigh escaped her lips at the thought. Even with the time spent with her classmates all it's done is reaffirm how inferior they were. If it weren't for a few compatriots being in class with her she'd probably have lost her mind weeks ago. Finally she turned her focus to the professor, the displeasure clear on her face as she spoke up. "Are we going to actually learn anything or are we just here for the Class Clown's performance?"

"I'm glad you asked", Grandeur responded to the Mystic, although he only offered her a brief glance before turning his attention to the rest of the class. "We leave now actually. Any of you who don't have your gear with you, go get it from your locker rooms. Change into whatever equipment the Academy provided for you per your requests during your stay here and come to the back of Haven. We're going to Southpark Fields. You'll need me to be there to grant you access to those fields since none of your Sentry Licenses have been calibrated to allow you to enter those restricted areas and since everyone's so riled up to actually learn something, we're going to do some hunting. And by that I mean we're hunting Grimm."

"Instead of wasting time hearing about who has or hasn't had experience with Grimm, I'm going to split you up into three teams. And no", he added, "you don't have a say in who goes where and you don't get to switch. If you're in a group you're not comfortable with, my advice to you is to deal with it because that's how it works on the field sometimes. If you end up having a problem with the teams I pick and are insistent on switching, then you can sit out while the rest of us do some actual work." Grand stated simply. "Now then" he pushed the button and the hologram faded. "Faris", his orange eyes looked to the boy's direction. "I'll answer your question officially when we get outside."

"Oh and Nic", a faint transparent image of Prof. Grand suddenly appeared by the Faunus' side. "I didn't get rid of the holograms because I wanted to see how people would react. And I got my answer." As soon as the image delivered that answer, he disappeared.

"You have..." Prof. Grand looked at the clock behind him. "8 minutes to get ready- time is of the essence after all. Think of this time limit as an example of the importance of always being ready on the field, like Larisa over there and some of the rest of you who brought your weapons. Now..." he paused dramatically, "begin."

Faris nodded as the professor promised to answer his question later on the field. To say the room was noisy when he asked his question was an understatement. Aeros' remark sparked an argument between Ivan and Seong which, while he also felt the urge to comment, went too far. Was there really a need to give a full blown speech about ideal and the like in the middle of the class? Larisa jumped from her seat and charged at the holographic Grimm, letting Ivan caught her after. He approved of the gesture. He would draw them later if he had the chance. Several other people stood up and joined the noise, including Nuadha beside him, but he didn't feel inclined to do the same.

The professor gave them eight minutes to prepare, but he had everything he need for utilising his Qin and fighting on hand. He hadn't considered using armour. Maybe he should request one in the future. Should he waited for the others? He hesitated for a while, but decided against it. That... as much as he wanted to get close to others, but waiting on them would be... how would anyone's take it? He didn't know.

"I'll head to the Field first, then."

He said in a low voice to Nuadha. Loud enough to be heard, but still quiet enough that it could be assumed that he was talking to himself if Nuadha didn't answer. With that, Faris stood up and walked toward the field.

The first thing he did once he arrived was to remove the chain necklace around his neck. It was a simple loop of chain embed with Dust. He took off the hook that kept the chain into a circular shape and winded it around his right arm. The next thing he did was to remove the chain over his torso. He thought it look weird to wear a chain around his hip, so he hid it under his belt. He connected the second chain with the first using the hook from the necklace, resulting in an eight meters chain winded around his right arm. Though the length was quite long, seeing how he needed to loop both chains around his torso and neck twice, it was understandable.

Faris looked around. It still wasn't time yet, so he did one more thing as he was waiting -- Warming up.

Stood up on one leg and held one leg behind. Pulled an arm behind the back and hold. Bent down on one leg and touched the end of the other leg while keeping it straight. High knees runs on spot. Several minutes later, he was standing straight, creating additional links to his chain, making it longer. Truth be told, this would be his first time facing Grimms, and he couldn't be anymore nervous.

You gotta be kidding. Can’t people just learn to butt out where they obviously aren’t wanted? Did she really think that it was necessary to intervene when even Grand was letting it rock? Yeah he wasn’t gonna even pay attention to what she was spewing. No doubt it was just some hot air not like anything she could have to say would be anything more profound than what his sister had spent years attempting to drill into him. He glanced in her direction for a second to make it clear he was ignoring her and then turned back to Ivan, who seemed to actually be listening to her? Well damn nevermind maybe he wasn’t so bad, he’d half expected the dude would just clam up and ignore everyone completely. Well damn this was embarrassing now he was losing steam. Dammit Min always did say he was too much of a hothead. He had to admire Nua for trying to break up a fight as usual, dude was the chillest here.

“V sleduyushchiy raz, kogda vy zakhotite sdelat' svoyu mysl', poprobuyte oskorbit' men'she. Eto umen'shayet tsennost' vashikh argumentov”

Okay now he was just confused. That was rasporian, how’d this dude know rasporian? He definitely didn’t look it, hell he knew rasporians they were just a hop skip and jump across the waters. Not to mention it’s not like he hadn’t run across them before, and Ivan was alot of things but he definitely was not a Rasporian. He also wondered why exactly the dude expected him to know Rasporian. As far as he knew that just like anything else was for rasporians only.

He actually didn’t get must but the jist of his words as he heard Larisa shout out agreement with Nua. Oh shit, well that was a thing. He watched as the quiet girl beside Ivan dash to try to stop her, and yup there went Ivan too. Dude you had to love everyone’s flair for dramatics, wasn’t like this was the first time Larisa got bored and fucked shit over. Grandest scale but you know had to keep moving on to higher heights and shit. For a second as they were caught he almost wanted to be sarcastic and state he’d have a couple shots at it but it wasn’t worth the attention. He felt a arm flung over his shoulder ready to fling it off until he noticed it was just Able.

“Oh, awesome always up for new guns.”

Seong shifted out of the grasp as he went to grab his gun grateful that it hadn’t tripped anyone on their mad dash to Larisa. He slung it over his shoulder lazily sticking it to him with his qin. He saw Faris make his exit and turned to Able and Nua tossing back a quick sentence before he started to head off for Southpark Field.

“Welp guess that’s our cue to scoot out. Nua, Able ya coming?”

Reid sighed to himself as he walked down to the starting edge of the field, where he was supposed to meet the Professor and everyone else. The morning class was, by his standards, a grade-A shitshow. He didn't really plan on stretching or anything to get ready for the battle, as he didn't expect to do much fighting himself -- After all, his only weapon was the little stiletto that his father made for him.

He decided he'd just stick with the other people. He could always just call on them for help.

Reid walked over to another small group of people at the Fields, and sat down on the grass, waiting.

He remained silent for a time, until the fanfare had died down and Professor Grand told them of his plans. Southpark Fields was there next destination, then. That was good. A change of scenery might help everyone calm down. His classmates were so energetic, sometimes he feared he might fall behind. Faris, who had remained quiet throughout most of it, was the first one to go. Nua nodded and saw him off. He'd be joining him very soon. When Seong asked if he was ready to disembark, he answered with a resounding,

"Yes!"

Nuadha didn't need to go and fetch anything, so he was free to head straight to the fields with Seong, Able and the others. He was content on the walk from the classroom to the entrance to the fields where Faris stood, already hard at work stretching in preparation for the trials to come. Thinking that it was a good idea, Nu stepped right alongside him and stretched as well. His muscles thanked him for his attention. They had grown stiff from disuse over the past month's lessons. No doubt today's activities would be a welcome change of pace.

Grand had said they'd be facing Grimm. That must mean that those foul creatures lurked in the shadows beyond the boundary separating the Southpark Field from where he now stood. Was this what he'd been preparing for? What his master had trained him for? Did the purpose that had eluded him until now lie before him, waiting to be taken up? Only time would tell. In any event, he would almost certainly need his full strength, and range of motion for the trials ahead, and doubted his mantle's special properties would provide him much use once inside.

With one swift motion, he removed and discarded his cloak. It fluttered from his grasp and landed in a heap some feet away in the grass. By then a crowd of his peers had begun to form. He was happy to be with them here, standing at the precipice of a new journey, and could think of only one thing to say before they began:

Qwin was rather quiet in class. Most of the other kids seemed to make enough noise anyway. The Professor was calm and only talked every now and then. He really didn't seem to care that a good bit of the class was either arguing or not paying attention. The only interesting part was the hologram forest attack but that didn't last long. Luckily the teacher finally said they would be fighting Grimm. This was the most action that happened the entire time he was here. Though he didn't have his weapons on him at the time because he didn't expect to fight today. So he quickly ran to his locker and grabbed his bag. He made it himself to quickly change between his weapons during battle. It was basically a big mechanical box that reacted to his aura when he changes personalities. After strapping it on he quickly ran to Southpark Field.

Most of the other kids were there when he arrived. He really hadn't talked to any of them but he did know a few of their names. He already had a few ideas of people he would like to work with. Though it didn't seem to matter much as Prof. Grand would decide that. For now, he just started stretching like a few of the other students hoping this would start soon.

The absolute lack in faith in her was always a mystery to her. Though she supposed Terra probably had had enough of her antics at this point. She should really at least attempt to stop making life so difficult for her roommate, especially since the woman already wasn’t getting much sleep as is. Still being snatched out of the air halfway in righting herself to kick off the back wall was not something she was going to take standing down. Or at least it wasn’t until she realized it was just tie-boy being an absolute kiss up again. Eh at the very least he wasn’t boring she supposed.

Once they were caught and put down by the teacher she wondered just what was he think he was going to do trying to catch someone taller around the waist. Well she supposed that was kind of the thing, like he wasn’t. That really was the only reason she was only mildly put out rather than actively annoyed at the man. After all she couldn’t much fault him for taking an opportunity to gain favor, she’d go after that with a vengeance herself. Didn’t mean she’d let it be easy for the man either though.

She looked up at Terra who was making her way over to them with concern in her eyes. Poor gal she looked so confused but with the little puppy still clinging to her well another idea was forming in her mind. She leaned further into Ivan, while still supporting her own weight because she was damned if she’d ever need someone to hold her up, while dragging one of her hands across his cheek down his jaw while lightly blowing air on his neck talking to Terra without facing her.

“Awww don’t worry about us Terra, our cute wittle white knight here just wanted to have the chance to feel needed. We’re both perfectly fine, isn’t that right?”

She would have continued to tease if not for the laughter she heard coming from the middle of the room. Gorilla eh? Well if that wasn’t a death wish she didn’t know what was. Oh how that was going to be fun, on the one hand she could just knock the girl’s teeth in but that’s not the Rasporian way. She removed her head from Ivan’s neck and gave the woman a smug smile. Oh she’d not let that go unchecked but now wasn’t the time

“Тот, кто не ищет друзей, является его собственным врагом. Simple minded I am not, but I’ll take ferocious as a compliment Twiggy.”

She made sure that her intent was hidden in her mother language, not letting out the slightest of hints to those that didn’t know the language. She knew when to play nice, and there was going to be no warning when she struck back at the woman. She turned back to Terra and Ivan with a smile.

“Are you ready to take on the fields darlings?”

Jean
She had learned, in her many confrontations against both Grimm and the people of this world, that armor was for against the latter. Against the former, armor was more akin to being a burden than it was protection. All the armor she needed, she thought, as she, with the practice of a seasoned veteran who had woken up in the middle of the night, scrambled for her gear, and slapped them on whilst under threat from either Grimm who wanted to rip her face off, or competition who wanted to do the same, brought up an attache case and opened it up on the desk in front of her, extracted the few pieces of armor inside, and strapped them onto her arms and her knees. It took her no less than two minutes to prepare herself. Snapping the attache case shut, she grasped the shaft of her spear and with a delicate twirl, brought it to her shoulder, and set out for the fields. By the time the gorilla had turned to speak to her, Jean was already out of the room, spinning her spear in one hand like a veteran drum major, the other hand waving at her dismissively. She turned and called out behind her, just to get the last word in. "Avec des amis comme toi, qui a besoin d'ennemis?"

Jason always cursed Jamie and Jean with the very same quote, but he meant it in jest. She hoped he did.

Battle, to Jean, was not a spectacle, a funfair’s ride, or even something detested, not like what she was picking up from the rest of the group here. It was a job, simple as that. And she liked it that way. Consume yourself with the flames of emotion in the already blistering heat of combat, and you were likely to get burnt. That was what Alexander taught her, and that same advice had saved her life on many occasions. Still, she thought as she brought the shaft to her neck and spun the spear around it, catching it and went back to spinning it in one hand, it wasn't as if she couldn't enjoy doing her job.

Her smile gave way to a solemn scowl. Her job, huh? She tossed the spear into the air as her feet touched the grass outside of the fields. The spear spun up, reaching about the height of three stories, before coming down, still spinning furiously. She watched as the sun glinted off its cerulean build, and, just before the spear struck the ground, she snatched it out of the air, twirled it, and rested the spear on her shoulders. Now she had to just wait for the Professor and for the rest of the kids to get ready. She watched as the others on site were already getting ready, and the green-haired boy was building rapport with his pals. She wanted to pinch his cheeks dearly. She reminded herself of a younger version of Jamie. So upbeat, so cheerful, so friendly. Still, he was a Giant. It wouldn't do to bugger about his face too much unless she wanted to start dodging Giant fists.

Ivan Sablich
Gate Way | Southpark Fields

Hearing Able's response, Ivan initially meant to respond, but that response never came. As Prof. Grand's announcement prevented him from saying anything he may have wanted to have said. Uttering a sigh and no longer wishing to continue the topic or make long-term enemies, Ivan dropped the whole matter and instead turned his attention to other matters.

Like, for example, why on earth was Larisa touching his face? Was this one of those weird Rasporian customs? Or was this Larisa being Larisa? So many questions yet so little time, Ivan knew the clock ticked while tomfoolery occurred right on this desk they lay on and in order to avoid wasting more time he intended to ask the madam why she thought it was necessary to touch his face.

Instead of speaking, he got hit with air. A light breeze of air that tickled his neck and sent the tiniest shiver to his shoulders. Ivan, a young man who knew little of the mind of a woman could not process the possible reason Larisa would do such a thing if not to simply poke fun at his expense. Yet despite this, he could do the only sensible thing a person of his type could to react: he squeaked. Squeaking in utter surprise then proceeding to clamp bite his tongue in a hurried maneuver to hide his embarrassment, Ivan proceeded with the two stage plan he had come up with in the scenario he ever found himself in a situation he quickly wished to get out of.

Step one, not embarrass himself. That plan had failed instantly with his rather loud squeak and now quickly reddening face.

Step two, escape. That went as well as one expected.

Scooting himself away from Larisa in a hurried attempt to avoid further unnecessary contact, Ivan forgot the desk was not in fact infinite and thus did one thing; he fell. He fell right off that table and landed with a grunt only to roll over on his back and come up sitting. Confused, florid, and now irritated, Ivan quickly pushed himself up only catching the first bit of Larisa's comment to Jean in a language he found was very akin to his own.

Strong words, he thought. But their beef was not his concern. His thoughts, if he were being honest he was curious if Larisa would do something rash but instead chose to say nothing. Clearing his throat and trying to ignore the warmth of his face, Ivan fixed his clothes, adjusted his loose tie and turned to both Terra and Larissa when she had addressed them. "Of course!" He stated trying to look displeased but the reddness of his cheeks betrayed him. "If you'll excuse me."

Ivan quickly moved to get his back that held his vambrace then with a curt nod to Terra and Larisa he made his exit with utmost haste to the locker room where his hammer rested. Once he'd gotten that, Ivan changed out of his shirt and tie and took out the spare shirt he had there never once taking his necklace off as he did. When that was out of the way and he had everything set and ready, he moved at a brisk pace towards the fields. Already noticing some of the others.

Well, seems like she really knows how to work that thing he had to note on the fancy work Jean put to her spear. It was impressive, but impressions could only really be decided on the field.

Rolling his arms, tucking his necklace under his shirt, Ivan checked the vambrace of each arm to ensure the fire Dust he'd installed in the containers were within, then took a practice swing of his Mjolnir. He chose to stay somewhere in the middle of the field, and eventually decided after a few practice swings to just sit and wait. The rest would be here soon enough.
