Gonna have to ask one thing though: can I get away with a creature/pet for my char that is augmented in a steampunk manner? Like a giant bat or eagle?


(perhaps because my char would be a quote unquote animal-based fighter/scout ^^)

it'd have to be natural size

Probably an osprey of some sort then, a bit bigger than normal, but big enough that it could hook it's talons into loops on the character's back and be able to help him glide to the ground/water safely. Not strong enough to lift him into the air though, and this guy will be lighter than the average human then.


 

this is roughly the size of today's andean condors to humans.
