ABOUT
Not angels: not men,
Weβre not made for this. The gradual lull of time has no mercy. It consumes us.
When it happensβ¦ The first time, I mean. We wake up shiny and new. And thereβs shock but itβs quickly abandoned. You feel strong. You feel limitless. Not even death can tell you no. We come to think ourselves as gods and, hell, may have even been worshiped as one. We drink in all this majesty, all these wonders of life eternal, and find ourselves surprised when it turns up sour. When it poisons us.
All this time living. Endless Motion. Watching the turn of tides, the rise and fall of great cities. Small moments, whispered between lovers and loud roaring ones which echo down the years. Itβs too much. You forget the moments which matter and hold on to those that donβt. Faces blur. Names become dust. Eventually, everything fades.
We'd seen it before. Knew its shape, looming there in the distance. When the world fell to ruin, it did so with a familiar sort of give. As if the thousands of lives we'd led before let out quiet breaths, a sigh that stretched as far back into our memories as possible. This one had many names. Many faces. They all thought themselves eternal until they weren't. Until they fell in just the same way you do presently.
We witnessed their demise and now we witness yours. If we could stop it, we might. We'd ease your passing. Make it quick. Instead of this horrible cry, we'd make it a startled gasp and then silence. But there's no stopping the inevitable. Sooner or later, death finds us all.
_ _ _
A group of immortals, outlasting time itself, survive the apocalypse. The world as we know it is over and they stand just the same, physically unburdened by the devastation that has occurred.
This rp follows similar rules as the ones in The Old Guard. They lead normal lives until they die and become immortal. They heal and regenerate, returning to the same state they did before their first death. The larger the wound, the longer it takes them. The older they are, the closer they are to their own end(as far as that may be ahead), the slower the regeneration is.
Upon first death, the others start dreaming of each other. They see glimpses of their demise, their waking mind and sudden realization. It's what brings them together. So when this group begins dreaming again of someone new, they're startled. It's only been a century or two since the last of them arrived. This one is too soon. There's been too little time. They start dreaming and it hits them cold and fast that this one is not like the others.
They are a child.
Compelled to find them, they meet for the first time in years to discuss things. But it is no easy feat, finding someone in all this ruin.

ROLES
and the resourceful creatures see clearly
THE FRIST
(open)
As the oldest of their company, they may be the most experienced with death. Thousands of years, falling unkindly upon the shoulders, its weight unbearably heavy. It's a shock of another kind. One that lingers. Turns the mind to rot. You become something else, inhuman.
THE SECOND
(open)
They've taken on the responsibilities The First once managed. They lead, they worry, they keep everyone talking. When they come together, decisions are made final by their word. They've not yet gone the way of The First, but they feel their mind slipping. A worry made worse by the slowing of their regenerative capabilities.
THE SOLDIER
(open)
They're old friends with death. Have met them on the battlefield more times than they can rightfully count. They've been more places, fought in more wars, and seen more people come in and out of life than any other immortal. One might argue that they've become numb to it, uncaring and cruel. They think The Soldier sees it as a game to be won, this living.
THE HEALER
(open)
There is something sweet and telling about the skills The Healer has chosen to improve upon. Medicine, surgery. Mending broken bone, torn flesh. It might be lost on the immortals, but it keeps them close to those still living their best life, their only life. They are perhaps the most connected to the way things were or ought to be. More human than the rest combined.
THE WILD
(open)
The aforementioned lull of time, dragging on for all eternity. How does someone fill such an endless expanse? Idleness eats at the brain, makes one mad, aching, shaking at the dullness of it. Laying about. Doing nothing. They fear what The First has become, some mindless beast pacified by time. They are unforgiving of it, spiteful of it. There's nothing in all this world that will hold them back from experiencing every bit of everything they can. Good or bad, it's all theirs.
THE IDOL
(taken)
Somehow, in all this destruction, they've found themselves a home. Responsibilities not unlike The Second this time directed toward a haven, a group, a light in the dark. They are a legend and a god to those they serve. Well-versed and well-adapted, they know the area, its people. They lead a settlement which thrives under their care. This news, this dreaming... It's the last thing they expected. The last thing they'd want. It brings the others to their place of living, and that is a danger of its own.
THE NOVICE
(open)
Last born. The youngest. They are unacquainted to this life. Living on and on and on. Dying again and again and again. It's not something one can prepare themselves for. There's bouts of time where all feels lost, pointless. It's all the same day over and over and over. Finding a reason for it. Filling your time with something so that you don't go mad with the sheer nothing of it all. It's a task more difficult than one can fathom. Not without experiencing it firsthand. They've still got invisible lines drawn between them and this otherness. This bored and angry beast.

RULES
that we are not really at home
1.
As always, RPN's rules must be followed. There will be a Discord for this rp. Any OOC conversations held there should still abide by those rules. Bullying will NOT be tolerated. If the need should ever arise, content warnings should be used appropriately. If a problem does occur, don't hesitate to message me and we'll work to resolve whatever the issue is.
2.
Due to the themes this rp may include, I please ask that any prospective joiners be 18+ years of age. Content warnings should be used for posts containing any sensitive/graphic descriptions.
3.
This rp is a collaborative effort. Sharing your ideas for the plot and maintaining a steady presence both in-character and out is expected. Come prepared to share your ideas and engage in conversation. It is a requirement that you have Discord as this is where a majority of our conversations will take place. Though I am very much for quality over quantity, I would like to see 500+ word responses once the rp is launched. RL always takes priority, and if you ever expect that you might be gone for a week, let us know.
4.
This rp is not first come, first serve. You must apply and be accepted. I left the roles deliberately pretty vague so that your muse/ideas could better define them. Though there are only six roles to choose from, I don't want this to be limiting. Applications will be accepted based on their compatibility with the overall cast.
