  Edi joined Starfleet when it was born in 2161. By that time she was nearly 200 years old and had already been enlisted in Terran exploration services under several names. She had developed a fascination with Terrans since they had begun to explore the stars. She always passed herself off as human though - until the Federation finally encountered El Aurian refugees.
  
  Among her long list of skills are Vulcan disciplines. She spent a considerable period there studying at the Vulcan Academy. That was over a century ago. But then she has been to many such academies. She even spent some time on Betazed.
  
  (Not hidden, but likely not common knowledge. Still if you look at the list of ships - it IS a long list, Enterprise is there.) She spent five years 2265-70 as a xeno archaeologist aboard NCC 1701 under the command of James T Kirk. (She had originally met him at the Academy.)

  James focused on astrophysics, mathematics, and aerospace engineering. He does have a bit of a green thumb, something he got from his mother. He is quite a decent artist, sticking to sketches rather than paint. He could easily make a living at it.
  
  Unusual Abilities
  Hyperthymesia. This is total recall. He can recall what he had for breakfast 10 years ago. He simply can’t forget. While generally useful, it also makes him prone to PTSD. For an idea of hw uncommon this is, there are currently 61 people diagnosed with this on Earth as of 2022 (about 1 in 100 million).. Drugs that prevent the formation of memories - like Rohypnol - can leave blank periods in his memory.
  
  Senses so unusually sharp that they border on Aspergers. This is so bad that at times he needs to decompress from being in situations that create information overload. He wears sunglasses and earplugs to filter sensory input.
  
  Very high IQ. Prodigy in Astrophysics, Math, and Aerospace engineering. He doesn’t need a computer to help him chart a course. Even temporal mechanics presents itself as simple math.

  James spent some time among some very sketchy underworld types on the frontier, especially the Briar Patch. Some might say that he was involved with smugglers. Some of his best friends were Ferengi. It was the Ferengi, Ishka Reyga, who convinced him to end his life of dubious pursuits and become the human alpha male he was meant to be. Of course, he doesn’t realize this was at the suggestion of Edi who intervened at the behest of his parents. Still. It worked.
  
  He has a reputation of getting involved with women he shouldn’t, typically daughters of influential parents who have done their best to burn him and end his career before it even started.
  
  In the Academy James’ biggest problem was that he was still a rebel who detested authority figures. His issues might have ended his career if not for Ishka and a few other cadets who had begun to depend on him - the Duck Dodgers. Ishka reminded him how badly she wanted to become a science officer. The Athena will be his fourth assignment since the Academy. He served in a fighter group, then aboard the Enterprise, then in a patrol group of the Briar Patch.
  
  (Redacted) His Starfleet career in the Briar Patch was actually mission work for Section 31. None of that is in his records. Instead he has been supplied with a painstakingly detailed backstory of his time that looks as routine as possible for such a region. His ship was named the Garbage Scow - and was a tramp freighter made from an old Starfleet hull, with components of various origins added on.

  (Hidden) James' parents (those aren’t even their real names) were legends in their own time, the early 21st century. They escaped the horrors of the Eugenics Wars and fell victim to the physics of a black hole, only to show up again in Federation space in 2380. Having suffered at the hands of the governments of the Eugenics War era resulting in a strong mistrust of the Federation, his parents chose to enter Starfleet. In 2382, they were almost ready to receive commissions when they discovered that his older sister was on the way. His father refused to enter Starfleet and chose his family over the Federation.
  
  (Open) James was born in 2385. Despite having always promised himself that he would always honor the choices of his children, James’ father was disappointed when his son turned away from sciences. James was a born rebel who did NOT want to live in his parents’ shadows. As soon as he was old enough he struck out on his own.
  
  Friends:
  Duck Dodgers in the 25th Century! (group of friends at the Academy - who thought he meant Duck and Dodgers), This was his Cadet Squadron, whom he nearly got kicked out of the Academy. They include Ishka Reyga (Ferengi), T’konn (Vulcan male), P'Ruuras aka Hairball (Caitian female), Tolpryn (Barzan male - the first of his people at the Academy), Kendor (Roylan male - the species of Scotty’s friend on the ice planet). Only T’konn understands where the name actually comes from. James gave him a copy of a short video upon graduation. It should be noted that the first time he backed the ship out of spacedock he quoted the scene.
  
  Ishka Reyga (Ferengi), descendant of Dr Reyga, the inventor of metaphasic shielding. She is probably the best friend James ever had.
  
  Section 31 - if you can call them friends.
  
  Enemies:
  Lots. Just … lots. Women, friends and families of those he has spurned. Briar Patch related enemies, many of whom don’t even know who he was. Any friends of Khan if they ever learned of his existence.

  His psych profile indicates that he is very uncomfortable with his abilities and fears accusation of being an Augment. He will avoid competitions of physical skills or hold back. He is otherwise a hot shot fly boy.
  
  James has a passion for speed. He has flown just about every sort of air or space vehicle there is. And in doing so he has broken quite a few laws and safety regulations. He does draw the line at a certain point. One such point was refusing to attempt a Kolvoord Starburst maneuver at the Academy at the prompting of other cadets. As it turned out this was an attempt to get him kicked out of the Academy. When asked why he refused he explained that HE wasn’t afraid of the maneuver, but felt that it was stupid for a GROUP to attempt such a maneuver just to show off. He didn’t mind practicing the skills involved to accomplish it though and thought every cadet should do so.
  
  Perhaps his best and most defining moment in Starfleet was when he put in hour after hour to help another cadet make it through the Academy. There is a Core Curriculum that every cadet must get through. The other student was struggling with Pilot 101. For James this was something he could do in his sleep. His reasons for doing so were … complicated. But they are in his Psych profile records. The other cadet’s parents had shown up and tried to get him to leave the Academy and be part of the family business. They were wealthy and didn’t want their son going off to fight Borg or something. He was “better than that.”
  
  Skydiving, parasailing, gravboarding, solar sailing. He enjoys them all. He’s also learned to ski (snow and water), scuba dive, rock climb. He loves to test himself against himself.

  Pets are most certainly for other people. Animals seem to like his sister. Wild animals will walk right up to her. Even normally dangerous animals won’t bother her unless they are very hungry or she is threatening them. His mother was like this. James was the exact opposite. He has no idea why but if anyone in a group is going to be attacked by an animal it will be him. At least it seems that way.

Personality and interests
Brilliant scholar and about a century ahead of her time socially when she was a young adult. Stays abreast of all the latest discoveries in medical science. Also fanatically obsessed with other sciences - especially natural sciences and astronomy. Speaks, reads and writes English better than most Americans. Also speaks German, Latin, Arabic, Greek, Mandarin and Cantonese, Apache, Cherokee, plus Navaho, and some other Native American tongues. She has picked up all of the Federation’s founding member languages, plus Klingon and other major languages.

She will treat ANY patient regardless of race, species, color, religion, or legal status. She does, however, expect to be paid for her services, though she will adjust her fees to the situation. (This is something she had to adjust when she joined StarFleet.) She abides by patient confidentiality. And she will not tolerate any man or woman seeking to harm a patient under her care.

She doesn't care much for whiskey, save for its medicinal values. Vodka is her drink of choice. She won’t touch Synthehol unless you twist her arm - like to be diplomatic.

She finds stuffy and arrogant races boring. She loves races like Klingons, Tellarites, Andorians, etc who have a zest for life. She adapts her bedside manner as needed. She has been noted as trying to calm a human patient by reassuring them that she is a highly qualified VET.

Career / Backstory
Origins
Born in what we know today as Lithuania to moderately wealthy "businessman" (what would become known during the era of the Soviet Union as Thief in Law - or Russian Mafia). Her father tried to send her to Germany as a trade concession at age 16, but she rebelled. Already well schooled despite her father's every effort to keep her uneducated she agreed to go to Germany if she was permitted to attend a university first and complete her studies before being forced to marry. She confessed an interest in veterinary medicine.

Her fiancé, Johann von Grossenburg, refused any financial obligations until he was married, so a standoff resulted. While she attended college her family's fortune began to dwindle. Her father had been counting on the union to legitimize the family fortune. What he didn't know was that the baron was a bastard son of a Baron and was making do on a hush fund from his father. But the man had agreed to a sizable estate holding if he could secure a wife of fine upbringing and estate.

Kasey soon found her only avenue of escape was to America. Enraged, the Baron followed. Already a skilled marksman and swordsman, the Baron turned gunslinger in pursuit of his future wife. He killed any man who got in his way and took very well to the way of the West. He lied and cheated as needed, though he wanted very much to appear honorable - so he had his limits.

In her travels Kasey endured considerable hardships. But perhaps her hardest trial was when she was taken in by the Apache. She was recognized for her efforts to aid other Apache at a reservation. She also spent some time as a healer along the railroads as she worked her way west. Eventually she was free to continue along her way.

When she set up her practice in Bangs she hired three people:
Isaac Freeman, a black man hired more for his ability to move weight. But he also has a modest skill as a blacksmith and can shoe a horse.
Johnny Crazy Horse, Apache halfbreed. Good with horses. Needed a job.
Shane Lee (Xiang Li) - Chinese man, barely trained as a nurse / assistant. Mostly he helps her by holding patients still if they are human.

Skills
Besides being an extremely skilled doctor and surgeon, she has had standard StarFleet training. She has had extensive experience in rituals, holistic medicine, herbal remedies, acupressure and acupuncture.

She has superb skills with a knife. Even Klingons and Jemhadar would be hard pressed to survive a knife fight with her. Of course, a knife doesn’t fare well against phasers.

She has studied numerous martial arts disciplines. Her first assistant, Xiang Li, was her first real mentor. (She learned a little when dealing with Apache too.) She concentrated on methods to immobilize or render unconscious. She has also learned very advanced forms of biofeedback training.

She was also taught to read a bioaura. She can effectively read a familiar species’ physiology by close proximity, but a good medical tricorder is far more reliable. It does, however, make her a natural lie detector. She uses this quite often to tell when her patients are hiding something.

Finally, as a reward for helping forge peace and uniting Kimera, Kasey was taught to control her form in a manner not unlike an Allasomorph. But she is very limited in the shapes she can take - those of Kimera - and only those of her approximate mass. The use of this ability is very taxing and used sparingly.

Age
One thing of particular note is Kasey’s age. She must return to Kimera from time to time for rejuvenation. Use of her morphing ability takes a toll on this period, effectively aging her.

  Does his best - and he’s damned good at it - to come across as stern and disciplined, expecting the same from others. He casts an imposing figure and has mastered the art of intimidation without a word. He had more than a few cadets at the Academy ready to just go and drop out rather than face him.
  
  But he is fair. He does listen to his officers - in fact expects them to come up with solutions. He knows how to delegate.

  While she was at the academy, she stood out, to say the least since people saw her pointed ears which they assumed she was a Vulcan. Which was only half right and it made it more awkward when her Vulcan classmates would come up to her and talk to her. She was eager to get to her first starship, hopefully, one day working up to the point she could command her own. A dream that is possible but not likely. The courses she took while at the academy were basic hand-to-hand combat, Advanced Tactical Training, Beam Technology, Leadership, basic, strategy and tactics, and survival strategies. After four long years, she eventually graduated from the academy with the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade for her completion of Advanced Tactical Training at the academy.
  
  She was then assigned to go to the USS Rhineland a Sagan Class that operated on the edge of Federation territory. Upon arriving she was placed in the Security Chief position on the ship filling in for the prior one who had just left. While some of her classes prepared her for the task, there was still a steep learning curve. She received a lot of mentorship from Lieutenant Kasdrin the Tactical Officer aboard the ship. Needless to say, the first year on the ship was a little rough she was juggling a lot of tasks while trying to catch up with the more junior members of the ship who had more practical experience. During that time she made it a priority to assist with any training that the security section conducted wanting to make sure if they ever had to do anything they would be proficiently trained. She went on several way missions during her time on the Rhineland after being there for five years she was awarded the Starfleet Extended Tour Ribbon for completing her time on the Rhineland as well as being promoted to Lieutenant. After she was then transferred to the USS Athena-B where she is currently en route to.

  T’sul isn’t your typical Vulcan hybrid, she was born and raised on earth. Having only seen Vulcan a few times in her childhood, her first-hand experience of Vulcan culture is a bit lacking due to her upbringing. The only real hard connection to Vulcans is her ears, her mother, and her name. Her father is a former captain who served as a captain on the USS Horn speed. Her mother spent most of her life on Vulcan and met her father on one of his missions to the planet. After a while, the two were married and soon T’sul came along. While her father still maintains her rank, the few times they were not on a ship they were on earth. Her mother not being all that close with her family didn’t seem to mind not being on Vulcan. Which is another reason she has limited experience of Vulcan Society and customs besides what her mother taught her. From a young age, she wanted to be like her father and was told that she was going to have to study hard and learn as much as she could if she wanted to pass the exam.
  
  So as she got older and the time to take the exam was more in view, she spent several hours a day studying and preparing for the entrance exam that she was going to have to take. So when the time came, she felt she was prepared for the test and passed as one of the top two applicants in her group. She was accepted into the academy and soon left to go and start her classes there. Though the weeks leading up to the test seemed to be very dry and boring with all the study that she was doing. Though that did pay off in the end it seemed.

  While she doesn’t suppress her emotions fully as her mother does, she isn’t as emotional as most humans either. Though using running as a way to keep her emotions in check for the most part. In rare cases, she actually meditates and does so when she is highly stressed. Often finding a middle ground is usually seen as a calm and collected person. Who is willing to put in hard work to ensure her task gets done. After all, she would rather be waiting on someone else than someone else to be waiting on her to complete her job. Often seen with a smile on her face though, there are times she does tend to move around with a straight face not showing any emotion at all. Overall she does tend to be a social person who doesn’t work without some kind of noise going on around her.

  T'Sul keeps her room very clean you would be hard-pressed to find a speck of dust anywhere in the room. As soon as you walk in there is a table at the center of the room with several chairs, and a desk off to the right side with a replicator next to it. The right side of the room leads to the bedroom with a door to the bathroom in the bedroom. There are several bookshelves throughout.
