"Fate leads the willing and drags along the reluctant." — Seneca
March 7th, 2067
It was Monday. Of course it was a Monday. After what for many felt like a short eternity, it was time for Project Fate to finally kick off. These soon-to-be agents had been broken down into multiple groups to be introduced over the next few weeks. The handful in this group would be the third only following an initial test sample of six and a group dubbed the "Beta Test" more similar in size that came after. One would be forgiven for believing they would be called Gamma or something similar, but the naming convention of the previous two groups would not to be followed. Instead, these Fate Agents were dubbed Group A-01, marking the true beginning of the program. Today, they shed whatever title they were previously: disgraced Meister, dangerous weapon, defected agent, unpredictable monster. On this day, they became Fate Agents, and their future in the DWMA relied on their performance in the program.
Each individual that signed up and made it this far was given instructions, be it by text or email depending on their preference. Given each were issued mobile devices, it was their responsibility to assure they kept in touch. A week beforehand, each were informed they were to arrive at no later than 0900 at Lot C in the training grounds to the East of DWMA Campus. There, they would meet the rest of the members of Group A-01, which wasn't public knowledge at the time. Oh, and they would be meeting Cyrus. The same Cyrus that was the twenty-eight year old personal Death Scythe of Lord Kidd himself. It was common knowledge that Liz and Patty may be his personal weapons, but Cyrus was the Death Scythe he went to if combat became serious. More importantly, he was his right hand man. Cyrus was likely the only person more adherent to Order than Kidd himself in the entire DWMA. Cyrus was an individual with a lot of influence, making it quite the statement they would be meeting him personally.
Lot C was not a notable special area nor a difficult one to find. Lots A through F were a series of approximately seven football sized clearings found by taking a left before ascending the infamously long DWMA staircase, then a well-beaten path beyond the iron gate that separated the tree line of the small forest outside of campus. The walk beyond the gate was less than a mile, at tops, and mostly flat. Lot C was located behind Lots A and B upon entering with just a few hundred feet separating them. If the students couldn't find it on their own, getting direction would be far from difficult. It was more so, if anything, anti-climatic to meet there after the wait through the program.
There was no more information given in the communications, and no replies sent out. No instructions as to equipment, no information as to what to wear, no prompt as to what they would actually be doing. Not so much as being told to bring a pen or pencil. Their first step into the world of being a Fate Agent was to simply show up. In a way, fitting, given that each one of them had to sign up for the program to begin with. In a way, also ominous as there was no further information provided. And, likely, in a way, frustrating as most of them had spent months of not longer to get approved for this step of the program only to receive a few sentences of text when it all finally started.
