Rain-full.jpg

Rain is an imposing, muscular beast of a woman. Reknown for her huge recurve War Bow and wearing a carved Sabre-Cat Skull as a Headress. But for the most part all you see of her are the deep set feral blue eyes staring at you from behind high grass or up high in trees. By then it is usually too late for you. She has multiple tattoos on arms, chest and face. Scars all over body. Of note is claw marks on her back. Her hair looks black but is actually a really dark shade of brown that gains soft reddish highlights during spring and summer. During springtime she will adorn her hair with leaves and flowers. And for several of her scars and tattoos will coat them in henna as part of a rebirth ritual. She knows in the human world, such things must be hidden, but if possible she will proudly show off all her markings and muscles whenever she can. Reine is a generational talent comlemented by a powerful build made for speed, stamina and strength, fine tuned with a lifetime's worth of solitary survival, hunting, climbing, running, and fighting.

Scars/Mods/Piercings:
Several self-inflicted scars from ritual scarrification / Tattoos on her face, arms torso front and back. Shoulders are inked too but not where the giant claw mark intersects her back diagonally / ears, nose, lip, hood and tongue piercings but has to remove all piercings to employ her rituals since her belief is that it blocks the flow of energies.

Trivia:
  • Has her own language of body movements, clicks, grunts and breathing sounds. Keeps secret her telepathic communication powers except to only a very, very select few
  • Has caches of supplies all across her territory and has no attatchment to clothes save her boots. Rain always maintains her footwear at a high standard. Always wraps ankles and wrists for support too.
  • Common urban life is alien to her so she is constantly curious and is always poking and prodding at people, places, and things.
  • Olfactory is way more sensitive than regular humans and sniffs a lot at things she does not understand.
  • 'Talks' out loud at strange times. She is 'using her Voice' to talk to spirits; her form of prayer. Drums and Dances appease the spirits; both of which she performs fantastically
  • Crafts her own weapons and gear and always adds an artistic carving or style to what she makes. Captivated by art and music.
  • Earned her Tattoos when she passed the rituals laid out to her by her Mentor. Finally when she was 16 she earned her War Bow.
  • Carves intricate runes into her Skull Headress and Bow everyday since the day she earned her 'Karma.'
  • Her bff called her 'Flower' for the longest time cuz that's what she thought she heard Rain say. Her real name is a series of clicks, grunts and breaths that means; 'Voice of the Spirits'. Many common folk call her 'The Wildling,' or 'The Rabid Witch.'
  • Hunters and Travellers revered her and called her 'The Rain Dancer.' The only time they can see her is when she dances in the rain. She bears the name Rain now with Honour since she is proud to receive accolade from other hunters. She bestowed the name Dancer to her sabre-cat ward.
  • Trust is hard to come by, but if earned, she will fiercely protect them provide them gifts, however, she has a strangely expectant; whenever her immense frame lies on them, she expects to be groomed just like how her sabre-cat ward always does.
  • She may not be able to parse sarcasm or other common subtleties but seemingly has a 6th sense for danger.
  • Invades personal spaces of those she trusts especially while they are sleeping. Becomes like a playful kitty with them and you may hear her actually purr when happy.
  • Hates when others touch her scars without permission. They are sacred to her and she will instantly become physically aggressive.
  • The woman is quick to draw arms and hiss versus listening to reason; she deems herself physically dominant and will proceed in kind. When she is in predatory mode, she is a killer and will not take prisoners unless forcibly removed from her 'prey.'

~Bio:

  • Originally from the Arbremorti Tribe and meant to be raised as a Shaman since she was born faceless; the placenta nearly suffocated her at child birth.
  • As a small girl, her family was teaching her proper shamanic role by channeling through dance and rumming rituals since she was mute. They were attacked by an enormous wild animal. Rain remembers her father getting killed before being dragged away
  • Survived attack and escaped by diving into the river as the beast tried to cross it. Lost and confused she made her way out into the woods. Somehow she managed to survive the ordeal and kept her bravery through dance and drumming prayers.
  • Against all odds she survived and one day she came upon a pack of huge dogs and some how easily befriended them. They guided her to the home of a lone deaf and mute hermit named 'Aremik'. She took little Rain in and cared for the girl.
  • It was here where she was taught the strange click, grunt and breath language. And it was a harsh upbringing. More like everyday survival training. The only enjoyable time was when the Hermit would let her drum and dance. But it was paying off; she was a capable hunter, survivalist and animal whisperer even before she hit puberty. And she was tall too. Soon she would become stronger, swifter and more agile than any girl her age but most of all she became very resourceful and more connected to the land.
  • As an accomplished teen Hunter, she was ambushed by a great-sabre cat. The beast had killed the dogs as they tried to protect her. Wounded she tried to make it back to their abode and there she saw the sabre-cat prowling the premises. Out of arrows, she tried to warn Aremik by banging her spears but the hermit could not hear. With all her will and might she found 'the rhythm' and as her body swayed, she could feel herself transporting her conscious thoughts into Aremiks mind.
  • The warning was too late but the two heard each other's voices-- their true voices-- for the first time ever. The last words of Aremik: "I have been waiting for this moment for so long. You are 'Blooded.' You truly are 'Voice of the Spirits.' I will hear you again. We will talk then. Know I am so proud of you. I love you, daughter--" The last thing the shamed hunter saw before passing out was the lifeless body of her mentor dangling limply in the sabre-beast's giant maw as it leapt away.
  • Rain stayed a few years longer. She never seemed to stop mourning. If only she was faster, stronger she would have made it home to save Aremik. She stopped mourning that that day she danced in the humid storm with the pink lightning. The immense claw mark scar on her back ached and she fell to her knees. A vision of her mentor appeared.
  • In the vision, she was guided by Aremik into her past. Her father was killed by a sabre-cat and so was her mentor and surrogate mother. It was time to leave. The Voice of the Spirits had found her calling. It was time to hunt.
  • She found the sabre cat. And she was ready and willing. Rain was much faster and much stronger now. But it was more than that that aided her in killing the beast; it was her cunning. During the battle she feigned injury at the bottom of the ravine. As soon as it pounced at her, the giant log came hurtling down and crushed the great cat's spine. Shortly thereafter, Rain took its head. She would wear it for this was The Vow she told her ancestors before embarking on this spiritual journey.
Karma.jpg
  • There was mewling and yowling not far from her position. She had made the cub an orphan. She could not let it die a slow and painful death even if that was the will of the forest. So she did what came naturally to her. She adopted the fuzzy striped thing. His name was "Karma" for it was what she deserved in this new cycle.
  • For not even 3 months she raised the little guy. Literally little; he was a runt. But she loved him and raised him anyways. Then the great fire came and swallowed up their abode and territory. They fled into the lands beyond the mountains. She was closer to human territory than ever before.
  • For the next few years common folk caught only glimpses of the wild lady with the skull on her head as she hunted. She never revealed herself to them despite her curiosity. The ones she tried to communicate with telepathically freaked out. They called her terrible names and rudely told her off. Some even threatened to murder her. They thought she was the voice of a Rabid Witch. Only one of them explained what that meant. That hurt her more than anything she knew. She was supposed to be a Shaman for to help both peoples and spirits not some kind of twisted monster. Never again would connect with people telepathically.
  • She tried to connect with animals telepathically but found only a form of empathy from them. Perhaps it was just wishful thinking and just her innate animal whispering that helped yet she believed she could connect with them. At least with Karma there truly was a bond between the pair.
  • When Karma was fully grown (still much, much smaller than a normal sized sabre-cat, only about 500lbs) he caught a bruised up redheaded young lady and nearly killed her. Rain stopped him but not before he had slashed a vicious claw mark across her back. Rain took her in and stablilized the girl. She later found out that the girl had been in a carriage wreck and, dazed and confused, she wandered into Rain and Karma's territory by accident.
  • The intent was to nurse this young woman back to health and send her away; the will of the forest be her guide. But Rain was soon taken by the energetic redhead.
At first insulting by calling her saviour "Flower" and the sabre-cat "Click" since that is what she thought Rain said. It wasn't until she saw the fond interactions between the redheaded invader and the sabre-cat did Rain relent and allow her to stay longer than expected.
  • They became fast friends since the girl named Oxi was an animal whisperer too. A week later she let her guard down and telepathically connected with Oxi. The redhead responded very well and did not freak out. The two talked for a long time; each curious about the other. It was here she learned that other hunters revered her as 'The Rain Dancer.' She took the name 'Rain' and bestowed 'Dancer' upon her sabre-cat ward.
  • Over the next week, she taught Oxi much about the forest and survival here. Oxi returned the favour by singing with her sweet voice for Rain. The day Oxi danced with her was the day she discovered the intimacy she never knew she craved. But the day came Oxi had to go back home. Rain guided her back to civilization as far as she dare. They said their fond farewells.
  • Less than a month later, Oxi returned. She wanted to continue their friendship. Rain accepted with open arms. For a year they continued their secret friendship and Rain discovered that she wanted to be more than just friends with Oxi. Several days after Aremik came to her in a vision, covered in blood, Oxi came by with a letter. The redhead read it aloud; It was addressed directly to Rain.
  • Oxi laid out a map for Rain and said she would be there when the Hunter and her Sabre-Cat ward set off. But Rain was still torn to continue her journey or stay here and start a new journey with Oxi; one she always dreamed of ever since they danced together.
  • She braved her apprehensions and fears and stole into the urban lands of her redheaded friend. She was going to ask Oxi if she wanted to go with her. They would be together on this journey and maybe find something together more intimate than dance.
  • But her heart sank when she spied Oxi leaning in closely with another fair skinned young man. They were performing some kind of ritual. A ring on her finger? And now her redheaded friend was overjoyed and overcome with tears.
  • Rain's heart broke, shattered by the intensity and passion the pair of young lovers shared when they kissed each other. Rain and Dancer were gone the very next day.
