Midori & Circe

"It seems she is about to start"

The demon said as she closed the book she was currently reading, and stared at the pond in front of her.
The scenery was different than the usual nothingness, the sky was pitch black, covered by stars and the moon; the floor was a bottomless lake, reaching what the eyes could not reach. She was standing in top of this lake, without sinking, almost as if she was standing on top of a mirror.

This lake was iluminated by the stars on the sky, but what stood from the rest of the stars was the moon, being reflected in a large portion of the water.

How long have the girl been in that world? Trapped in her own peaceful solitute?. At some point she stopped asking herself that, but there is something she would always enjoy, staring at the moon reflected in the lake, particularly, at the image that could be seen inside that reflection.

The image of the human she made a contract with.

"Bah!? That quick?"

Midori said while quickly standing up, she expected the mission to be starting soon but not that soon.

She made her way into one of the vehicles, sitting on one of the seats in the back.

Yukishiro let out a bark of laughter at Nao's response. "Can you blame me?" He responded in the same joking tone that she had adapted during the talk. It did help lighten his mood a bit. As she continued on to tell them about her own capabilities, Yukishiro filed it into his head. It would be good to remember to have Nao's back too, considering what seems to be a reckless kind of fighting. Though, he was sure she was capable if the fact that she was chosen was to be taken into consideration. "Aww, then I'm counting on you to keep me safe." On the mention of their other member, he turned back to Yasu and gave him a salute. "And 'course, you too!" He looked over to Daisuke who had taken his leave for a moment and Yuki gave him a nod.

Climbing into the vehicle after Nao, he took his position beside her. Her energy was certainly a welcome relief. He would play his flute now but he wasn't sure if it would be appreciated by their lieutenant considering his stiff attitude. And so, he would have liked to spend the ride in peace but Tokatzu had another plan in mind. He often made comments about his new teammates and even his incapability to protect them if need be. Yukishiro could easily deflect most of the demon's statements. After a hundred times, it kind of loses its edge.

Lt. Kazuko's voice cut through the mental conversation and Yukishiro found himself focusing on the inside of the vehicle again, shifting his sight towards the team leader. Once more, it was stressed that they must prioritize stealth over fighting in this mission if they want to make it out alive. He gave the leader a nod. His flute does need to generate sound to be able to function properly so they'd have to avoid being spotted for the most part. When he was called, his back straightened in attention. "Yes sir."

It sounded like a solid plan... for now. Like what Lt. Kazuko had said, they would need to adjust their plans accordingly to the situation at hand. He did wonder what kind of trials would be ahead of them by delving into a vampire's den that houses nobles that defeated their more experienced members. As much as he wished that it would go smoothly, they'd have to be prepared for every eventuality. Retreating was one of the best ideas but it did look like Lt. Kazuko wasn't too keen on such a thing. Well, what comes will come, they'd just have to react accordingly with it.

Vampire Den: Mischa & Lord Delmor Artago

The chains rattled lightly as a body began to move against the constraints of them. From the dimly lit space of the room, a female figure could be seen in torn and shredded JIDA attire as her breath heavily parted from her lips. The light rapping noise of a cane clicking against the floor could be heard against the marbled floors in brief echo. The man himself would lift from his chair behind the faded desk that once held polished in the time before despair. The figure would begin to steadily stride in a circular step around the room whilst his look cast outwards over the female whom held upon her knees. An angered flare would be seen storming to life in her eyes as the light would soon be permitted to flood into the room. The look itself belonged to one Mischa Takimuto as her lips spread to a thin line of distaste at the sight of him as her arms held stretched behind her back. His expression moved with pure amusement over her as he leaned against his fashionable cane." To think, our paths were destined to cross once more in your lifetime. Is it not bittersweet?" He questioned as his menacing crimson hues danced over her as she gritted her teeth. His laugh would bellow loudly in a sheer elegant tone." Oh that look... It reminds me of when I tossed that drained piece of cattle before your feet after I had my fill of her. Delightfully aged she was.. Unlike that of a mortal child's blood." He taunted as his tongue gingerly brushed at his lower lip in a reminiscing mannerism to the thought of the once taste he had. That alone stirred an anger within Mischa as she roughly pulled against her constraints." Don't you DARE speak her name before me. You who stole her life before she could truly live.." She spat out angrily at him as she boldly spat on him in turn as he drew back. His look all but souring to her bold action as a dark shadow passed over his look." Filthy Mortal.. I'll remove your tongue if you dare that again." Delmor said as he moved away as a lower ranked vampire approached to shakily extend a cloth to him. One could easily note the fear in his look and the hidden knowing of what the man himself was capable of.

Quickly, the vampire drew back to the ranks of those held around as Mischa watched them leave. Her look would soon be directed across the room to the sight of Delmor rattling through a metal medical tray. The noise would soon suddenly stop as she'd gauge her look over him as he turned to reveal to the marker in one hand alongside that of a knife."
Unlike last time, I was unable to proceed in piecing apart that underling of yours. Pity honestly.." He said as he began to approach her as Mischa narrowed her look on him." I recall her having the most prideful eyes until I threatened to drain her.. The fear stricken expression... How that riled me up." He said in a slight groan of audible pleasure to the memory." You disgust me." Mischa breathed out to him in an angered tone as he quickly maneuvered over and grasped her neck tightly." I find little to no care in whether I disgust you. All I want is to strip your every bone clean and to have you look upon me as she did.. Only than will I be paid what I couldn't have than." He stated in a slight pant as the blade of the knife danced cold to her skin as she grunted. Her body all but attempting to hurt him with whatever limb she could land on him as his menacing gaze glowed." That's right.. Struggle for me.. Lose all hope and give me the satisfaction to watch it fade from your eyes, Livestock." He whispered as his grip tightened as she began to sharply gasp. Her gaze alone refusing to back down and show any fear to him through her own resilience.

But soon after, with a haste that Mishca would be unable to perceive, Delmor would be thrown off and away from her to land against the wall that cracked from the impact. Now standing before her and between her and her captor was another vampire. A progenitor no less.
“Lord Delmor. Do I have to remind you that your Queen said to keep her alive and not act upon one of your little hobbies.” The dark haired vampire said with his back to the prisoner. Delmor gradually recovering from the attack and in his eyes it seemed as if he would retaliate until his gaze met that of the new vampire. One whose voice she definitely recognized. As soon as Delmor knew who had attacked him his defiance was quelled for the moment. Dusting himself off and holding an angry but accepting look. “I meant no ill will or disrespect toward Valenia but…” in the next instant Delmor was now held by his neck against the wall by a single grip.

I don’t remember the two of you being so casual with your titles to one another Delmor and I am certain you were not about to give me an excuse about defying her command.” the vampire said as Delmor had clawed frantically at his grip already looking painfully close to death before being released. “There, there. I always play nice if we skip all of the bad decisions.” He said with a smile before turning to the Prisoner. Revealing his face to her, or at least half of it. The easily recognizable Progenitor who had slain many high ranking members of JIDA and was one of their most sought after targets that proved again and again how untouchable he was. A monster of monsters. The Progenitor Lucian.

“Has the bait decided to give up any of her secrets yet?”
Lucian asked Delmor behind him. “I hope not.” He said with a smile as his hand reached over and skimmed along the cut Delmor had made over her cheek before bringing his hand to his lips. “If you spoil the fun now... I may lose the chance to kill any friends of yours that try to rescue you. Afterall. Hope to humans is like Blood to our kind right, Delmor?

Delmor would give a slow bob of his head in understanding to Lucian's words as his maddening gaze would dim to normal." Of Course, Lord Lucien. Correct as always in the words you speak." He calmly said as he leaned upon his cane whilst he began to collect himself. Mischa's gaze blurred as for a brief moment she would glimpse ahead to the paired vision of her demon's. A sinister tint all but glistened to their red hues as both peered out from behind the figures of the present vampire nobles.

"
We told you once long ago to destroy this one when you had the chance. Our kind of old are known for being emotionless creatures who act upon their own desire above that of others." Lin Yang taunted as her arms constricted around Shen Yu's neck as his look held dulled." Foolish Mischa. You've trapped us here now and we must hope that your mere mortal allies will save us." He said with a dash of irritation to his tone as Lin Yang laughed softly." Tik Tok... The clock is running out on you, Russian Flower." They'd say in unison as the visions of both would fade from her sight as she fell into an unconscious state.

Just as her figure went limp, the double doors would crack loudly open as the sight of Prince Vitalium strode inside. An irritable look had struck to his features as he neared the presence of both of them as his hand fell to hold at his sheathed blade." If you both have finished your antics and the beating of your chests. It would seem we have incoming JIDA forces entering our territory and being led by none other than a senior force of them. Nothing to be feared but it will prove to be that of an irritation if not handled promptly. Her Majesty, has sent express orders for you Lord Lucien to send forth who you wish to with the exception." He paused as he looked to him with a smirk." That you hold under the knowing that I have been commanded to go forward with whoever you send to the main field." He said with as Lucien merely grinned to his words and strode forth." Well than, let us be ready to bring the cattle in for slaughter." Lucien said in a chuckle to himself as he departed the space as both men followed closely behind him as they left the prisoner alone.

Sia inwardly flinched as she glimpsed the badge of the once infamous Team Crimson on the shoulders of the woman and man now surrounding Commander Atsuya before following close behind Rinka as they exited the briefing room. She had heard of the tragedy that befell the team and knew that Mischa was once a member so it didn't take much to put together why they were here, nor why the woman had tears in her eyes she passed by Sia. Her heart clench in sympathy for the poor woman as well as Atsuya but also fueled her determination all the more to rescue their comrades from whatever hellhole the bloodsuckers had them caged in, for she knew the sadistic bastards wouldn't let the opportunity to use such a high ranking officer such as Mischa Takimuto as a hostage slip by them.

Once they reached the lot where everyone was preparing for their mission as well as securing their vehicles for departure, Sia took a moment to reach out and gently squeeze Rinka's shoulder before laying a sympathetic gaze down on her commanding officer and best friend. "Are you okay?" They were just three simple words yet the response was usually anything but simple, especially in a situation such as this.

Daisuke Minamoto

Team Talon - JIDA

“Nice to meet you”. replied Daisuke turning himself to the Baker sisters, his seriousness expressed not only his aristocratic roots and good manners, but also hid his distrust for the “gaijins” or people with a foreigner look, like the girls in front of him.

“Indeed, I am with the talon team, my name is Minamoto, Daisuke”. He stopped remembering what was told to them in the briefing meeting, in a more relaxed attitude he added “I think you are with team Lycan, our rival team”, Daisuke tried to ease his voice to not make it sound like plainly sarcastic but enough to make other people understand that he shouldn’t be underestimated, after all, he had enough experience with the people of his clan looking down on him because of his youth.

“A Browning?” he replied to Akagi’s comment “well, I’ve shot a M4A01 and some handguns before. But honestly, fireguns are … I’d prefer not to use them”.

Although she was a gaijin, and that was enough reason for him to distrust, he couldn’t avoid to like that girl’s attitude, straightforward, confident and clearly a weapon expert as she shown by manipulating the vehicle’s gun. Of course, that ‘like’ was not in a romantic way, it was simply that Akagi’s personality reminded him to his sister’s, after all, if his sisterKyoko were still alive, she’d be around Akagi’s age.

Again he was thinking in his sister, but the clicks of the unloaded gun brought him back to reality in the precise moment when she spoke about the importance of the weapons and the importance of being able to properly use them.

He smiled slightly, something that he didn’t use to do, since he agreed with Kaga to the point to add.
“A warrior is a weapon in itself”, another phrase lend from Kyoko.

He looked at Akagi’s eyes for a second, not enough to call it a stare, his sight was calm as he saw the strength a true warrior in her, and he could respect that.
“I look forward to fight by the side of Lycan team, I’m sure we can learn of each other”, he didn’t want to be all too friendly with someone who had barely known, but still he wanted to acknowledge her qualities.

He leave after doing a little bow to both sisters.

“Doing friends is your thing now?” asked Tsuki with her viperine tongue.

“We were just talking” replied Daisuke mentally to his demon.

“Will you see that girl die, too?” Added Tsuki with a grin aas she enjoyed teasing Daisuke.

“Maybe”. Replied the boy, after all he knew that Tsuki would cotinue teasing if he revealed his true reaction to that phrase.

Between the argument with his brother, Kazuko, and the departure of the teams to the frontlines, a woman followed by two JIDA soldiers appeared in Atsuya’s quarters. She walked with the freshness of a young woman but also with the authority of a seasoned officer, she advanced with her tidy uniform and brown hair gleaming under the sun.

“Good morning, lieutenant colonel Takimuto”, she said with a military salute which probably was an excess of politeness considering that she had the same rank of him, if not more power in the facts.

She relaxed a bit and ordered the two men escorting her to leave.
“Lieutenant colonel Takimuto is a capable gentleman, there is no need to worry about my safety”. She said to finish their complaints and dismissed them.

She turned again to Atsuya and walked to him
“I am lieutenant colonel, Minamoto, Yuriko. I understand you are busy, so I’d be quick. My cou... , an important member of the Minamoto clan is under your command”. Probably introducing herself was unnecessary as well, she was a known officer of the JIDA, Yuriko Minamoto, regent of the Minamoto clan, one of the families allied to the Hiragis.

As she finished talking extended a small picture to Atsuya with the image of Daisuke.

“His name is Daisuke Minamoto. I’d appreciate if you order to keep him in the rearguard of the operation”.

If the young woman had started talking with a friendly attitude when she finished the seriousness of her expression made clear her petition was very important and probably it was something more than just a mere petition.

After all, when people had enough time in the army learn to understand that by euphemism of “keep him in the rearguard” she was asking to keep him safe or even to find an excuse to take him out of the operation.

“Do I count with you, Lieutenant Colonel Takimuto?she said this time extending her hand hoping, the man in front of her will shake hands to seal the deal.

***

After Daisuke returned with his companions, listened first to the talk between Yukishiro and Nao who were in front of him, he thought they seemed to carefree for this moment but preferred not to think too much about it, by now the only thing he did was to unfold some inches of his katana to see its balde and be sure it has been correctly polished and prepared for combat, it was his last minute check, and then rest his head on the back of his seat and look to the outside, he simply wanted to come to the battlefield rested and calm.

But then, after that to Kazuko’s explanation of the plan he simply said
“Yes, sir. And what we do if nobles cut our retreat?” Not that he trusted Kazuko’s plan at 100% but he didn't seem wanting to be disrespectful either, his question was sincere, and he was hoping that his team leader will tell them that they'll have to fight for their lifes, the mere idea of a struggle for survival against the nobles was pushed in his mind as a tempting scenario. Tsuki's bloodthirst and influence on him has grown after all.
