Besieger's camp
The roar of the drums were audible from miles away as the vanguard of the Chosokabe force under Ichikoji Toydaria arrived. With him he brought thousands of men, and some European trebuchets that the Chosokabe had recieved plans for from European traders. In full marching order, they entered the camp and pitched their tents where there was room. Ichikoji was astonished by the state of this fragmented coalition. This would have to be rectified, and soon. He sent messangers around to get the allied generals together for the Daimyo to address when he arrived with his main force. Quickly, he had a report prepaired and sent to the Chosokabe Army
Chosokabe Army
Chosokabe Aegeria rode at the head of a much larger Chosokabe force, numbering in the tens of thousands. A lone messenger on horseback rode over, handed him a parchment, bowed, and rode off. In the report, he read of the forces assembled on the Shogun's side, something that scared him, as there were no real troops there, only mercenaries and demons. He also noted several of the lords identified as being amongst the defenders. He knew of many of them, and their formidable strengths. The report also mentioned details of the terrain. Already, he could envision the perfect way to take victory if the defenders were to sally out. The trebuchets were a wildcard. He sent orders up to the besiegers to hide those trebuchets at all costs to enemy scouts.

"And the representatives from the Oniware clan mercenaries." Masaki turned to the mercenaries as they arrived.

"I've heard much about your skills in battle. I hope your reputation proves itself accurate." He took one last drag from his pipe before setting it down on the table next to his maps.

"I hope you'll excuse me for cutting the niceties short, but we have work to do." He sat down on one of the small stools that surrounded the table and moved some of the maps around so that his guests could more easily see them. Each map had a number of markings on them, dilleniating known movements, estimated troop counts and so on.

"I'll be frank. As you have all no doubt already surmised we're looking to be painfully outmatched in this engagement. At the moment my 8,000 men, combined with your forces, is only barely a match for for the garrison already gathered here." He pushed over a handful of rough sketches that had come in with his reports, each detailing a different clan's crest.

"My scouts have confirmed banners from 5 different clans, including the Fuka garrison, the Komori, the Fujimoto, the Mibu, and the Furo, with reports that one of the Emperor's own branch families, the Tanako, should be arriving shortly if they haven't already." He motioned away from the map of the valley to the larger map of the entire front.

"Compounding that, more clans loyal to the emperor are starting to move everyday, most of which seem to be converging on this valley. At this rate, we'll be seeing half the imperial army marching through here in a matter of weeks. If we're going to pull a win out of this, we have to do it soon."

Fujimoto Ayako
Location: Fukashi Castle

As Lady Honoko walked in, Ayako rose and bowed as well. Bring herself back to her position, she could feel the eyes of both the lady and her guard. A minor clan to the Tanako, if I'm correct. If I remember the rumors that the maids back home would tell, she lost her parents in an attack. Something about witnessing the attack herself? Revenge isn't exactly something you bond over. Well in any case, I don't see any problems with engaging in conversation with her. Her thoughts vanished as they were all asked the question.

Ayako remained silent, pondering the possibilities. Any far flanking force, or even a small contingent, would easily be spotted out in the open of the valley. Any proper surprise attack would require a sizable force attack from the mountains, something that Lord Furo's forces would be able to spot. A proper surprise attack would be one that overwhelmed our forces entirely, either through numbers or through magic. She came prepared for both a siege and an offensive, but she had not considered a surprise attack. Perhaps we should prepare a surprise attack of our own, while their forces are still organizing. Or maybe a series of skirmishes to whittle them down. or...

Ayako's face turned dark and her eyebrows furrowed as she considered an appropriate counter-measure. She would have to wait until her scout report came back to make a proper assessment.

Besieger Camp
Ichikoji Toydaria walked into the meeting. "Greetings, my fellows." He nodded "I am sorry my lord himself cannot join us, but I have sufficient knowledge of the situation. He marches with a great host, and when he arrives the boon of the great Chosokabe army will make victory certain. The chosokabe army is one of the largest in the nation and it's full bulk approaches. I have done some surveying of the surrounding territory and have decided that, if we spread across the entire frontage of the valley, we will be able to hold a solid front and not be enveloped by the defenders. If they sally out, they will be crushed. However, with the... somewhat lackluster nature of some of our enemy commanders, that is possible. Nonetheless, I have great respect for several of our foes, and their cunning may drown out the bluntness of their comrades." He looked towards the castle "We will have to storm the castle. My lord has instructed me how to do this. We simply employ pike and sword to contain them within the castle as the great Chosokabe archers and arquebusers pour fire into their ranks utop the walls. Once they have been sufficiently devastated, we will charge with ladder and take the castle."

Fukashi Castle

Kyo had remained silent while the other lord spoke not wanting to obscure them from taking all the men costly duties. Once they turned to ask him what he intended to do, he smirked. "My men will be the vanguard covering your approach and also the rear guard covering your retreats both night and day. We'll also run special defenses of the castle from the likes of the Tsuchimikadol We have bad blood with them, so my men will enjoy countering their treacherous magic tricks." Kyoshirou suggested.

At the sound of the predicament they could soon be facing, Kensei's disposition changed on the matter. "What if my forces focus of long range bombardment and support, any structural damage could be repaired unless we burn the castle down completely?" Kensei suggested. Kensei could have his men bombard the castle defenses with paper charms and Wu Xing elemental attacks. However based on the information that the Mibu are here, the job may fall to the Tsuchimikado to route the Mibu at every turn.

"Well," he looked around "we have a few new weapons. Trebuchets, the Portugese call them. They're siege engines, and we can use them to hurl great boulders at the wall and create a breach for our attack."

Komori Takahiro and Lord Fuka

Takahiro nodded slowly. So a plan was coming together. However to make any final arrangements they would nee better information and if memory served correctly he knew just the man. "I propose we send in a small team tonight to gather better information. These men would also be given saboteur supplies in case the enemy has any tricks up there sleeves. While that group launches its raid we can begin preparations inside and outside of the castle. Lord Fuka may I borrow one of your men for a moment."

Lord Fuka nodded his head and a nearby guard stepped up and saluted. Takahiro quickly explained to the man that he was looking for a ronin looking man with the symbol of the Alikomo clan. He quickly explained what the symbol looked like and the guard nodded heading off to look for the man.

After a while of searching the guard finally found the man Lord Komori had told him about. Panting heavily the guard approached the man and saluted. "Lord Komori had requested your presence in the war room."After his message was delivered he saluted hen left to return to the war room.

Dula nodded at the guard who had given him the message, Dula did good at making himself almost hidden so the guard finding him made him only smirk at the determination. Dula had been eating a partial of bread and anko (anko is like jam btw) while congregating and sharing his food with some of the footmen, Dula knew most of them wouldn't live to see another week so making them happy in his company was a simple blessing. Dula repacked what food he had yet to get to and made his way to the war room. The guards only gave him a lookover before remembering Dula was sent for. Taking a step into the room Dula slightly bowed and raised his head, beginning his scan of the room. Many high lords and ladies littered the room, it made him want to laugh but he thought "What if I was on the other side, this would be a dream come true."

When the guard and ronin stepped inside the room Takahiro nodded at the man. He rose from his chair and gestured towards the man. "This man here may very well be a key factor in our victory. I have seen his skills first hand many years ago. You Ronin who wears the symbol of the Alikomo and who defended my brother so long ago, would you speak your name and lend us your help?"

Masaki picked again at his bandages.
"It would be for the best if we could limit damage to the ramparts themselves. While we could shore up minor damage, any major structural damage would take too long to repair. Not to mention that even if we did manage to open a way into the main keep there would still be the manner of climbing our way in." He looked between his commanders, the lords and mercenaries, and pondered a thought.
"I believe our best bet may be to first lure as many as we can out of the fort. If my forces and the mercenaries move as though we were laying siege to the gatehouse fort we might draw much of thei garrison from the fortress proper.

From their Lord Tsuchimikado's onmyoji can work with Lord Ichikoji's engineers to collapse part of the bridge." He looked up to Kensei and Lord Ichikoji

"Would the Onmyouji be able to patch the bridge with their magics? If not I will entrust Lord Ichikoji's engineers to find a solution once the battle is over. In the meantime myself and the Oniware would focus on doing as much damage as possible to the isolated troops. Of course this would all work best if their were a way to get the onmyoji and engineers into position unnoticed. While our enemy would no doubt be focused on the main force, any sentry could easily spot a few dozen men carrying equipment across an open field.

Do we know of any infiltration specialists among our forces?"

"Well just the Onmyouji should be able to slip into position undetected. The Onmyouji can repair tha bridge if we choose to destroy it, replacing it is no problem. However I think the enemy will be paying close attention to Tsuchimikado personnel. I think the Ichikoji should go collaspe the bridge while the Tsuchimikado launch a distraction as if we are trying to build an alternate route to assault Fukashi Castle from." Lord Tsuchimikado explained.

Lord Katagami thought a moment and then nodded in agreement. While he still wasn't sure he trusted the mystics, it was hard to argue against trying to split the enemy's attention as wide as possible.

"If the Ichikoji believe they are up to taking the task single handedly then I'll agree."

Mizuaki smiled at the mention of an infiltration plan she raised her hand. "Depends are what kind ya want. We might not look it but me and Shu-chan are pretty good at infiltration. You wanna get in quick in quiet just ask Shu-chan. Need loud and proud I'm the one you wanna talk to." Shugachi gave Mizuaki a side glare he hated the nickname she had given him but she was right. They knew their stuff he also decided to speak up. His voice soft if one wasn't paying attention they might not hear him. "We would have little to no trouble attracting attention if that's our main goal."

"I'll need the Oniware faction on the frontlines with me. Our job will be to distract the main enemy force and do as much damage in the process. My force will act as the main vanguard with the Oniware supporting the flanks." The lord's scarred face bunched up into a faint, somewhat unsettling smile.

"And in any case, I'll need that speed and precision to help me with another goal I have in mind. But we'll have to wait until we take the field for that." He took a final nod.

"If we're all in agreement, we should begin preparations. I intend to put this plan into action tonight. You're all dismissed."

Yori was strolling through camp a large smile adorned his face thanks to the game of dice that he'd been playing, and cheating at, earlier. His walk took him past the command temt, he was about to move away because everyone was more rigid and ready for battle when he overheard one of the commanders say "Infiltration specialist" hanging around a bit he used his enhanced hearing to listen to the tail end of the planning meeting, he shaking his head with a small grimace when he overheard the onmouji being the distraction, those annoying spell casters always loved a good show. When the meeting wrapped up Yori stood to one side looking like any other guard. Once Lord Katagami left the ten Yori fell into step 1 pace behind him before speaking "Lord Katagami I believe you were looking for an infiltrator, may I suggest myself?"

Scavenger

As Masaki left his command tent he felt a chill down his spine.He looked around a bit and saw nothing out of place but after a few feet he began to hear the sound of someone walking in his footsteps.With a flash of evil in his eyes he reached for his sword and turned on his heels to face the one shadowing him. However before he could so much as draw his sword he caught a glimpse of the odd young man who had frightened him.

"Lord Katagami I believe you were looking for an infiltrator, may I suggest myself?"

Masaki lowered his hands and laughed a bit at the boy's request. The sickness in his eyes dissipating, or perhaps simply going back into hiding.

"I had feared someone was eavesdropping on us, though if you had listened all the way through you'd know that we modified our plan a bit. That being said, I won't turn away an infiltrator with enough talent to get the drop on me." He sighed a bit, while he was clearly amused by this turn of events he was also curious. If this boy had been an enemy he'd most likely be dead. Talent like that was hard to find so If he'd been one of his own men he'd surely have heard of him at some point, wouldn't he? And none of the other clans had made any mention of someone like him in their ranks either. Very curious.

"...But I must say this is an odd way to request a commission. Come to think of it I can't say I've seen you around before. Who are you? And what clan do you belong to?"

Taking a close look at the man in front of him, Romaji couldn’t help but feel a bit uneasy. Something about this man seems a bit un-earthed. Either way he addresses the warrior with respect and politeness. “Great warrior, it appears you are considered in high regard for your skill. If one of these lords vouch then I will accept you as one to take on this mission for us. Even more so, I will accompany you. Although I am not fond of spying and sabotaging, if it’s to bring about peaceful I will commit.” The fact Is Romaji wasn’t fond of this conflict to begin with and wish both sides could come to an understanding with each other. Hopefully this war won't drag on and one side will show flexible. He doesn’t want to shelter off and hidden like in his youth. He wants to be proactive and be the one in front leading the way.

Yori tensed as the Lord span around, his muscles not quite relaxing even as the mirth entered his eyes. At the request Hiro quickly bowed "I apologize Lord Katagami, I am Hashimoto Yori I was approached by one of your recruiters who offered shelter, food and a fair pay for my services. I'm afraid that I didn't here much I was just passing the command tent as it was mentioned." Yori was backpedaling slightly, although he had been recruited by this mans clan the man himself didn't know him and so surprising him was a rude way to go. He also hid the fact that he heard the whole conversation, hearing good enough to catch a few words from outside is rare but hearing good enough to hear the whole conversation is demonic. "You said that you had use for me, where would you have me go?" Yori was looking forward to getting out of camp, even while infiltrating there will be plenty of time to enjoy a good dance.

Dula softly sighed as he lowered his mask and pulled back his cap revealing the entirety of his head, a small smile crossing his face, knowing that it was the right manners to reveal himself among nobility. Bowing and rising Dula cleared his throat,"My name is Dula, master Alikomo bade me to fight in his stead, due to his age you see. As Lord Takahiro knows, I have always taken my blade to those who appose justice, peace, and truth. I was given order by my master to put all the enemies of the Emperor far underneath the earth, and protect and serve the Emperor and those who serve him. And so, serving those who serve the Emperor, I will take this endeavor on and do as you need me to."

View attachment 307303: Honoko watched as everyone started to chime in with more ideas. She sat there thinking to herself wondering if there was anything she could add. She didn't have any particular place she wanted solders at. Where ever they needed her men that's where they will be. She was about to speak up but Takahiro beat her to it. He offered the idea of sending a small team tonight to gather more information. Her men could do that. After Takahiro sent the guard on his way to get someone she spoke up. "A few of my men could be sent to gather information." She said offering.

While the continued to discuss things and Honoko was just about bored with the whole thing. She guessed they wouldn't be leaving until the man came, which he finally did. She glanced at the man. Who was that? She had never seen him before. She looked over to Takahiro as her began to say how this man could be the key to their victory. "Hope he's right" She mumbled to herself. The man then finally revealed himself. The man seems to very loyal but Honoko knew better then to trust others so easily. In fact she hardly trusted any of these leaders. How could she when she knows even a most trusted friend can turn on someone. She would be kind of course but she will never let her guard down not for anyone.
