Fandom RWBY without RWBY- Grimm Uprising [CLOSED]

Beryl White

"Yeah. My sentiments exactly." Beryl agreed. "Not that interacting with all these interesting people isn't worthwhile, but I'd much rather get this show on the road, you know?" Just thinking about what these years at Beacon could and no doubt would bring made her quiver with excitement that she could barely contain. She probably looked like a crazy person to the boy, but she didn't really care all that much.

As if a certain god had heard her, Professor Lannister then spoke, making the rabbit faunus raise her fist in the air and cheer once he was finished. Many other students stared at her, but she just shrugged as she lowered her arm. "What?" She challenged to no one in particular. "Aren't you just a little psyched for this as I am? You know what's gonna happen tomorrow, right?"

When all she got in response was a bunch of whispers as the lights were turned off, she huffed before crawling into her sleeping bag. Killjoys.

She could already sense the night was going to be long..too long for her tastes. It was no surprise to her that she was tossing and turning most of the time, but nonetheless, there was a smile on her face.

When she woke to the sound of the Professor using a megaphone, she groaned, ears incredibly sensitive, but after a few seconds had passed she was up and moving despite the ringing in her ears. Once she was dressed and rearing to go, she cracked her knuckles. Let's do this!

---

As soon as she was sent flying through the air, Beryl slowed her descent slightly by using just a tad of her semblance, her body aglow with red energy as she felt that familiar, but slight tug on her soul. Once she was close enough to the approaching ground and in a clearing, she grabbed the bow off her back while at the time pulling some earth dust from her pocket, and inserted the dust into the chamber placed near the front of the weapon. Firing several shots one after another, flat topped pillars of rock of differing heights erupted from the earth just close enough together so that the rabbit faunus was able to land on the tallest's top for just a moment before using the momentum to jump to a lower one, effectively creating a descending, curving staircase, her aura protecting her from serious damage in the process. She ran down the steps until her feet touched the ground, her tan boots skidding through the grass and dirt in at attempt to slow herself, finally stopping after several feet just inches short from the trunk of a tree.

Sighing in relief, Beryl stood up carefully, taking a look at her surroundings. Naturally, she saw trees, trees, and more trees..and then soulless, crimson eyes, all around her. From the shadows she heard growling as three Beowolves lumbered forward to surround her. She cursed softly with her body trembling slightly. Even so, she switched her bow into a sword and smirked as she pointed with the blade at what looked to be the leader of the tiny pack.

"All right you bastards...come at me."

A minute later, she stood over the dissolving bodies of the Grimm, one of them having been punched through several trees while the other two had been cut in half by her sword.

Now it was time to find her partner...wherever they were.

Paz heard the sound of... air, would you call it?... coming from somewhere in front of her. It was almost the sound of a jetpack, but there was no way anyone here could afford a jetpack... could they?

Paz moved at a slightly faster pace now, making her way towards the source of the noise. It seemed to move over head, though got louder with each passing moment. Jogging to keep up, Paz glanced up through the branches at someone she didn't recognize.

Suddenly, Paz realized she had run past the sound of jetpacks. When she turned back around, she jumped. There was a Beowulf behind her! She held her hammer out in front of her threateningly.

"You wanna fight!?" She asked, and the Beowulf came down on all fours. It howled, and Paz moved to launch herself forwards. Before she could, though, someone fell out of the sky, landing on its head. Directly on its head. Wow. The precision on that is amazing. What are the odds?

Paz' watched the peculiar girl, her impact having created a small dip in the Earth from the sheer force of her coming down on the wolf.

"Landing complete!" The girl chirped, hopping off of the corpse and looking out into the woods.

"Guess that makes us partners, then?" Paz asked, partially to get the girl's attention and partially just thinking out loud.

Robin continued to read to herself for a while more until eventually the sound of a familiar, though less booming, voice filled the air. Closing her book and promptly stowing it away, the redhead got comfortable within her sleeping bag as the lights of the dining hall eventually faded. The thoughts of the following morning remained promptly within Robin's mind as she lay gazing out the window she rested beside. Even with all that had transpired there was still so much more to happen, and the redhead couldn't seem to keep her thoughts in place. Even as exhaustion pulled Robin away to slumber the redhead's dreams constantly flitted about what the next day was to hold.

As the next morning eventually came, Robin soon awoke to the feel of warm sun across her face. A soft breath filled the redhead's lungs as she opened her eyes, squinting faintly at the sunlight shining upon her. Slowly sitting up, Robin just barely caught the sight of Professor Lannister raising that megaphone to his lips before quickly clapping her hands over her ears right as his voice boomed through the dining hall much to the surprised chagrin of many first years. "Well, lucky thing I tend to rise early." She spoke to herself, rising with a groan as she stretched the stiffness from her body, sighing in satisfaction as the slumber was worked away. Slipping into the girl's locker room , Robin quickly freshened herself up amidst the hum of the other first years similarly preparing before slipping into the dining hall to retrieve her armor from the larger of her two trunks she'd brought. Returning to the girl's locker room, it only took a few minutes for the redhead to slip into her gear, the familiar feel and weight of her armor and equipment soon resting over her form which brought a form of calm to the nervous butterflies fluttering about within her stomach. Giving everything a quick once over, Robin eventually departed for the location she and her fellow first years were to meet up at near the emerald forest.
-----------------------------------------------

By the time Robin arrived at the emerald forest she already could see familiar faces. A smile remained seemingly permanent upon the redhead's face as Headmistress Aurora spoke, detailing exactly what the first years were to be doing once they made their way within the thickly wooded forest beyond. All there seemed to be were a series of square metallic platforms which clearly were meant to be stood upon. It didn't take too long to piece things together once the remark of 'landing' was brought up, a light chuckle leaving Robin at such a thought. "Well this is going to be interesting to say the least." She quipped, watching as the others took their place upon their respective platforms. Bouncing on the balls of her feet, the redhead took a few breaths, bracing herself as she scanned the seemingly endless forest before her, mind already brimming with thoughts on what might occur when she landed. The rhythmic sound of a metallic 'thud' quickly filled the air as soon as Professor Lannister activated some form of switch. An exhilarated whop quickly left Robin as she was sent soaring through the air, laughter leaving her from the intensity of flight.

The initial rush of adrenaline quickly dulled as Robin squinted her eyes, scanning the forest below for a clear landing before soon spotting the ideal spot in question. Her focus was interrupted as a sudden impact struck her left shoulder, an alarmed squawk filling the air as Robin herself gave an understandably surprised yelp. That momentary lapse in thought quickly threw off her planned landing, Robin gasping as she saw a sea of tree limbs racing closer and closer as she descended. Activating Haven upon her left forearm, the shield swiftly expanded to its full rectangular size, Robin bringing it before her while bracing herself behind it. A split second later the firm impact of wood on steel shook through her as she crashed through a few dense tree limbs, her forward momentum dying down as she started to more sharply descend. Glancing through the vision slit in Haven, the ground quickly arriving called for a similarly quick decision. Activating her semblance, the redhead collapsed her shield back along her left forearm as the familiar rush of energy coursed through her body as she drastically decreased the weight of gravity upon herself while she descended. A low grunt of exertion left Robin as she landed upon the ground, the impact through her body reduced greatly.

Landing achieved, Robin glanced around, the youth knelt upon one knee from her swift deceleration as her right hand retrieved Reprisal from its holster. Rising to her feet, Robin shifted Haven to its basic form, the shield an even square in shape, while Reprisal remained collapsed in its one handed form. Scanning her surroundings, the redhead felt the hairs on the back of her neck tingle causing her steps to falter. The sound of creaking wood behind her provoking Robin to halt, but a voice calling her name causing her to spin on the spot. In one smooth motion Haven extended to its extended riot form, Reprisal shifting to its ranged form as Robin dropped to a knee behind her shield as Reprisal rested within its firing rest aimed in the general direction that the unseen Sapphire resided. Of course glancing over her shield Robin came to see a familiar face standing high atop a tree limb, the keen witted faunus Sapphire whom seemed to be somewhat stunned.

A soft sigh of relief left Robin while she collapsed haven along her left forearm again, not really known what was waiting for her, and also not knowing exactly WHAT form of grimm resided within the forest. Keeping Reprisal in its ranged form as she rose smoothly to stand Robin gave a wave in Sapphire's direction. Not wasting any time, Robin promptly made her way to roughly beneath the branch Sapphire stood upon, activated her semblance once again as she crouched down once before giving a powerful jump from the ground. With nothing to really indicate she was activating her semblance, the sight of Robin swiftly ascending through the air might be understandably bewildering. Her jump calculated, Robin came to land with hardly any jostle upon a branch slightly below where Sapphire stood, looking to Sapphire with that same warm and friendly smile. "Well hello and good morning Sapphire, funny seeing you here, come for the sights?" The redhead quipped with a soft giggle, resting reprisal in her right hand rested against her right shoulder somewhat. "If you don't already have one, would you mind me being your partner?" Robin asked, quite happy to have met a familiar face already, but not one to assume things at a glance.

As Yami continued to jump along branches, he landed on one that's seemingly near a small clearing, giving him a chance to look out and see where he's supposed to go; He spots a facility nearby...Is that where he's supposed to go? While thinking about it, the branch he is on broke, causing him to fall onto a nearby bush along with the branch.

"Well...That's not exactly a flashy landing..." Yami chuckled to himself, rubbing his neck as he spots someone nearby; one clad in copper brown and a black vest. Sporting a small pompadour and a brown bubble behind him. "Guess that makes us Partners, huh?" Yami said, getting out of the bush, as he headed for him; his gun drawn in case they attract some Grimm.

"Oh, hello there!" Steila greeted, waving at the girl with dark red hair as she made her way towards her. If she recalls correctly, the first person she comes eye contact with will be her partner for the rest of her time in Beacon...Which means..."Definitely! I'm Steila Teknika, pleasure to work with you!" She outstretched her hand, letting out a cheery smile despite her landing being so...Stiff.

Sapphire Voshkie
Mood: Relieved
Location: The Emerald Forest
Interacting With: Nooguy Nooguy

Before she recognized Sapphire, Robin whirled around, putting her shield in front of her and aiming a gun in her direction. Sapphire froze, her natural inclinations being to run, but knowing she shouldn't. Friend not foe, friend not foe, friend not foe-- Sapphire thought frantically.

Luckily, her anxiety was short-lived, as Robin soon relaxed, collapsing her shield and dropping her gun. Well, not literally dropping her gun, just not actively aiming at Sapphire. What are the odds of seeing a familiar face? Sapphire thought, but thankful more than anything else. Robin waved at Sapphire, and Sapphire waved back in what first appeared to be a half-hearted wave, but was in reality a relieved gesture. It translated approximately to: I could've met anyone in these woods and even though you almost tried to attack me I'm still overall thankful that it was you who I bumped into. (Waves can be complicated.)

Out of nowhere, Robin launched off of the ground and onto a branch very close to Sapphire. The poor girl almost fell out of the tree in shock. Oh my gosh, what was-- oh. Her semblance, probably. Or very modded armor. Sapphire thought, surprised either way. Not only had she launched in the air and landed on a branch close to Sapphire with seemingly no problem, the girl barely seemed to affect the branch itself.

"Well hello and good morning Sapphire, funny seeing you here, come for the sights? If you don't already have one, would you mind me being your partner?" Robin asked, smiling that calming smile.

"Yeah... Yeah of course." Sapphire said, at first not understanding why Robin had posed it as a question. "Oh. Oh, yeah, you're the first I've seen." Sapphire confirmed, reddening slightly at the mishap but not nearly as red as she normally would've turned. She pressed the trigger to dismantle her sniper, the weapon breaking into her dual katanas. She stood up from her sniping crouch, nodding determinedly. She was somehow more confident when in Grimm-infested forests than she was in school settings. Because in one I have to interact with people. In another I can just... kill everything I don't like. ...It's totally healthy.

"We should... head to the temple, I think." Sapphire said, pausing halfway through her speech, realizing she might sound pushy and then trying to avoid it. She looked down to the ground, seeing only a few branches in between herself and the ground, and she chose to drop down, assuming Robin would agree with her.

Looking back up at Robin, Sapphire posed the obvious question after seeing Robin's "super jump" up into the tree: "So, um, Robin, if I can ask, if I may, um... what's your semblance?" It wasn't necessarily taboo to ask someone's semblance, but generally it was considered straightforward to ask what someone's semblance was without invitation. Not rude, but not polite. It was a rule (if you could call it that) often ignored in school settings, but otherwise you didn't just... ask. What if their semblance was undiscovered? Then it would be strange. And what if they didn't like to talk about it? Either way, Sapphire was being bold-- by her standards-- but wanted her curiosity to be sated.

Paz took the hand, shaking it back. She barely noticed the stiffness in the other girl-- well, okay, she noticed it a lot, but she wasn't just going to go out and say that she noticed it-- but she couldn't ignore the cold feeling of the girl's hand. It just wasn't natural. No, no, she's probably just cold. Paz thought, but couldn't ignore the fact that she felt comfortable in her own warm-weather clothing. No one is that cold in this heat. A rational part of her brain told her. Paz forced herself to ignore it.

"Well, I'm Pazia Voshkie. My friends call me Paz. Nice to meetcha, Steila." She replied, smiling back. "We should really be on our way to the temple, huh?"

"Agreed!" Steila beamed, allowing her partner to lead the charge. Her hands behind her back and right under her Rocket in case they encounter some Grimm. She asked, thinking that perhaps, their motivations will align with one another...

To shook Tina's hand, smiling at the joke. She seemed fine from her landing, more than fine even, if she was ready to fight. He could have definitely gotten a worse partner than Tina. No doubt about it. She began to walk and he moved with her. Seemed he was right about the direction of the temple, or at least they both thought it was the same way.

"Well, we're here because we can fight." He reasoned. Didn't mean it wouldn't be hard, but they wouldn't send first years against the hardest monsters known to man. The Grimm were probably mostly smaller ones, like Ursa and Boarbatusk. Probably not too many he was personally used to fighting. Ocean-living Grimm would be sparse around these parts. "Might as well talk while we wait for those bumps. So, um, where did you learn to fight?" It felt a bit awkward, but small talk seemed to the best option for now. They'd only known each other for a day and they didn't want to get too engrossed in case some Grimm managed to sneak up on them.

Yale Skylight

The short speech made by the man with the megaphone became Yale's cue to get some rest. Taking one last look around him, he retrieved his futon from his giant backpack and with a yawn, buried himself under the covers. It was extremely quiet, leaving a sense of uneasiness in the air. Or at least it was how Yale felt. He was sure that they were others besides himself that were not only psyched up for tomorrow's initiation, but those who found themselves unable to close their eyes for too long. With that thought in mind, he showered the sleeping faces surrounding him in light generated by his scroll. They were a few tossing and turning, some out cold, and some.... clearly still trying to sleep, as Yale smiled innocently at a girl frantically fending off the light from her face, causing him to quickly shut off the device and slide it back into the side-pocket of his bag.

The pillow was fluffed and the blonde's head rested upon it. Then after a while it hit him. Despite the tiring day, the curious blonde just wasn't feeling tired at all. So instead, he snapped his fingers as an echo of himself fiddling with the scroll popped up next to the futon leaning against the wall, and with a nod, he disappeared into the darkness of the cafeteria, deciding that now was a better time than ever to go for a mid-night training session. After all, the man said we had no bed time, and he merely gave advice about getting rest. It wasn't an order, but an option.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Almost comparable to cannon fire, the recognizable voice exploded in the cafeteria. "Looks like I was just in time." Smirked Yale as he returned from the locker room clad in a purple and orange striped hoodie with a black design of a cat's head wearing headphones and music notes around them, a brown 3-quarter pants with several pockets, and black sandals. Being among, if not the first to get up, he had the small privilege of watching everyone else get ready to go. Some were already walking in and out the cafeteria either dressed, or proceeding to do so, while others suffered the after effects of the loud speech; though whether it be the words of the man or the volume he delivered was beyond him. Moving from the doorway of the cafeteria, he made for his giant backpack. Pleating his futon enough that it could comfortably fit in his bag, he took out his scroll, fixed the metal plated bands onto his hands and shins, and equipped Edge Of Insanity. It was finally time.

Advent at the Emerald forest left Yale beholding the sights below, as he multi-tasked between listening to the principal's instructions and being a tourist. The first pause by the mistress was when he looked at her and the one beside her. Ohhh he's a teacher, right. A slow nod of understanding as that part was finally cleared up, as even though he deduced he was staff at the school, he hadn't distinguished the mans job apart from teaching, cooking or cleaning. The woman began informing the future hunters on the goal they had to achieve for initiation, and about the teams that'd be together for four years. His curiosity was now peeking as much as he was around the others he stood side-by-side with, wondering how it would all come together. Though to be honest, making eye contact with each other sounded kinda random, but it was also way more fun than being able to choose your own partners. Especially after the amount of bonding time they'd have given them.

Sounds of shouting and screaming tainted the exciting atmosphere with strong emotion as one by one they were all launched by the platforms they stood on. "Well played." He grinned at the two adults before taking one final look at the thing beneath his feet, and tapping against it while looking forward. His body expressed its joy via adrenaline as he crouched just before being shot off into the sky. "Straight as an arrow, straight as an arrow." whispered the blonde as the tips of his fingers touched. Yale had formed a triangle with his arms in front of himself to lower wind resistance and gain more speed, his hood fluttering about wildly as he gained altitude. This was going to be one for the history books.

Attaining the highest point he could of reached in the air, he paused for a few seconds. Using that small span of time to view below him for a hint of old constructs. Having no luck he nosedived for the trees directly beneath, drawing one of the twin blades and slapping an ice-based dust crystal into the slot. Now with ten meters of fall between him and the environment, Yale used his sword as a makeshift snowboard. Encasing himself in aura just before glazing a trail of ice on impact with the top of a tree, taking once again to the sky with a more controlled impetus. Seizing the opportunity, he performed a three-sixty spin before coming in contact with more trees and jumping more self-made ramps. This was going to be fun.

Pazia Voshkie
Mood: Nervous
Location: The Emerald Forest
Interacting With: Thepotatogod Thepotatogod

Paz began leading the way, walking in the general direction that she thought the figurines would be in. Steila followed Paz, walking with her hands behind her back.

"Well, I really just wanted to be able to help people." Paz said, shrugging slightly. She also wanted to become a huntress and prove that faunus could be just as good hunters and huntresses as humans, but that wasn't something she wanted to mention to a girl she just met. For all she new this girl could be a complete racist. She seems nice enough, but I won't say anything just yet... You never know until you know... She thought. Her tail was slightly low, her emotions unsure, but mostly consumed by nervousness.

"What about you?" Paz asked. "Why did you want to become a huntress?"

At a glance Sapphire seemed...well less nervous than she previously was the day prior. Sure, the young faunus still seemed a bit timid, but far less so compared to when the two had initially met. Taking a brief moment to scan the duo's surroundings there only seemed to be more of the forest sprawling out in all directions around them, not really giving any clear indicator as to exactly WHERE they were. "Well at least we both met someone we know somewhat, though no doubt you'd likely prefer your sister with her being family. I'll certainly try to ensure we succeed, and I look forward to working along side you as a partner and friend." Robin spoke, her semblance slowly wearing off, causing the limb she was standing upon to steadily sag under her weight as normal once again.

The mention of the temple drew a nod from Robin, the redhead certainly not wanting Sapphire and herself to lag behind the others since neither knew exactly whom was where and how far along they were either. "Temple it is then!" Robin remarked in a bright tone before similarly dropping down from the branch she stood upon along with Sapphir, landing with a dull thud upon the earth below. Dusting herself off, Robin gave a curious expression as Sapphire inquired to her semblance. "Oh, I guess that's fair after jumping up to greet you. Well simply put my semblance allows me to manipulate the effect of gravity on people and things, like this." Robin paused as she knelt down and picked up a small rock, tossing it in her hand easily enough before channeling her semblance shortly before dropping it. No larger than an maybe an inch or two, the small rock subsequently embedded itself a few inches into the earth as if it were considerably heavier. "It's generally easier to lighten things though than make them heavier." She added, channeling her semblance into herself once again before giving a light hop, rising into the air a good foot before slowly returning to the earth. "I gave it the name 'gravity warp' when I was little, silly i know." Robin remarked with a light laugh. "Though I feel I can better use it, not really utilizing it to my best by far." She added, releasing her semblance to let her weight rest on her form as normal once again. Starting to walk along the forest floor Robin glanced to Sapphire as her own curiosity was piqued. "Mind me mirroring your question back at you?" Robin asked, wondering what the faunus was capable of. She hadn't caught a clear view of the temple, but a rough glance gave her a decent idea as she walked and talked with her new partner.

I thought we were here because we want to be Huntsmen?” She asked her new partner, shooting To a grin as they continued walking. She kept her ears perked as they walked, again listening for anything that might sound out of the ordinary. Tina kept her sword ready, using it as a machete to carve a path through the forest. To again had her attention when he asked where she learned to fight, a faint smile coming to her face. “I was home schooled. Ever since I was 10, my mom and 3 older brothers have taught me everything they know. My mom went to Beacon when she was my age, and my brothers all followed suit. Basil, my youngest older brother, is actually still at Beacon. He's in his third year.” Realizing she was starting to get off topic, Tina would clear her throat before continuing. “My mom played the biggest part in my education. Both fighting and classroom. She helped...” She stopped for a second, shaking her head before continuing “..helped design Colossus here” Tina held up her weapon of choice. “My brothers would keep all of their tests, all of their notes from school, and on the rare occasion they came home to visit they'd have a million new assignments to pass along.” What she wouldn't give to have her family all together again. Again looking to To, Tina would ask “So. That's my story. The Homebody of Menagerie. What about you?

After a few minutes of walking Tina came to a stop, holding a hand up for To to do the same. Something was watching them. She could feel it. A nearby howl had Tina looking in the direction it had come from, while a Beowolf lunged at the duo from opposite direction. Tina turned and, with one swift motion, sliced the arm off the Beowolf that was foolish enough to even get that close to them. The creature howled in pain as more Beowolf appeared, an Ursa Minor bringing up the rear with a roar. Tina smirked, looking to To. “So. You want the ugly one, or the really ugly one?

One big leap took our hooded ninja clean over a big patch of grass and bushes, fenced beautifully around by trees. "Ahhh nature. Near perfect combination of peace and beauty." Pushing off of the solidified tree limb, he back flipped and spiraled onto the ground of the admired clearing, just in front of a young lady. His silent smirk of a smile returned as his frozen legs sent a literal chill throughout his body. Teeth gritted tightly together, Yale fought the cold feeling. Taking out a fire-based dust crystal along with his other blade, then jamming the former into the latter. Flames erupted from his sword as he super-heated the ice. Almost shedding a tear from the sudden temperature change, he stepped off his makeshift snowboard, sheathing both weapons behind him.

Having got himself together he scratched his head. Eyes moving back and forth between the girl's face, and the trees behind her. "So... guess we're partners now right? heh. Sorry if I'm not what you were expecting bud. By the way, my name is Yale Skylight."

Violet sighs in relief, "Oh thank goodness." She murmurs relaxing her form. "I thought you were a Grimm. Better than that right?" She grins and claps. "Bravo by the way excellent form of landing. My name is Violet and it's a pleasure to be your partner. Now I have to find my brother and that trinket so let's go shall we?" Without letting Yale speak, Violet runs off deeper into the forest. She knew standing around would be considered prey for the Grimm lurking around. Her eyes focusing on her surroundings most of the time. "So Yale might I ask what your weapon is so I can be aware of head of time if we come across-" She halts in her tracks finding a Beowulf. "...Grimm..." She finishes finding a real life one standing tall and intimidating. She has never seen one up close. In fact this was her first time. Her legs buckled at the sight. 'Such a creature exists it's beyond incredible.' It was displeasing to see something so creepy and evil looking stare back at her. Her eyes widen and her breathing becoming heavy. Her entire body shivering with fright.

The Beowulf sniffs it's surroundings before noticing the girl. It huffs and growls starting to slowly approach her. Violet simply stood shivering violently.
'What are you doing? Move Violet move! MOVE!!!' Violet held her weapon and flinches instead making a yelp as the Beowulf lunges forth.

"I meant more why we're here." He gestured to the forest around them. "Why we got accepted." To assumed there were people who got rejected from Beacon, ones who weren't up to the school's standards or who couldn't be trusted for one reason for another. Not being able to fight adequately seemed like the most common reason. To didn't push his correction further, shutting his mouth and listening to Tina as she explained her family and their fighting skills. She paused while talking about her weapon, something like confusion, but To didn't push it.

As she held out her weapon, Colossus, she called it, To took it in. It was impressive, well designed. Or he thought so at least. He didn't have much of a base to compare it to. Even so, he was impressed. The dual uses of it was something he hadn't seen before. Wai's had been the fanciest weapon in his village, and it had been made specially. Something of this magnitude belonged to a real hunter. Which he was on the path to becoming. Damn, this was really happening. It was hard to wrap his head around.

"Sounds a bit lonely," he said, then Tina was asking him the same question.

"Well, you know I was a fisherman on Itanui. We lived far, far away from Vale, so there were lots of Grimm attacks. Everyone learnt how to fight there, you had to; I just found it more fun than everyone else. I trained by going out to find Grimm and begging lessons off some of the older villagers." He shrugged his trident off his shoulder. It rolled down his arm and into his hand, extending to it's full length as it did so. It was a couple of inches taller than him. "I usually hunted with tridents, so my brother convinced the village to make me a real weapon. Doesn't quite compare to some of the things the other people here have, huh?" To joked, spinning the trident around in his hand.

To stopped as Tina held up her hand. Ignoring the howl, he focused on anything that sounded closer. There was a slight rustling and the Beowulf burst from the undergrowth. Tina had it's arm off before he could even warn her. Damn impressive reflexes. To raised his trident as more Beowulf and an Ursa emerged from the undergrowth as well. He quickly scanned over them, checking for any weaknesses. One was missing an arm, but that was really all that was obvious.

"I'd say they're all "really ugly", so I'll just go for the closest one." To took a brief moment to smile back then his face settled into a concentrated expression as he looked to the Grimm in front of them. He picked the closest Beowulf, raised his trident, and threw it. There were some branches in the way, but they were small and it cut through them with ease. A few small spikes of rock formed on the Beowulf where it was hit. He'd forgotten that he had some dust in it. Seemed he'd just used up all of his earth dust.

Reaching out a hand, a spectral chain wrapped around both the end of To's trident and his hand. The trident was pulled back to him with a tug of his hand and To rushed forward to grab it. He got a firm grip on it just in time to swat away an attack from the Beowulf's uninjured arm.

Tina gave a light shrug. It was what it was. Grimm don't hunt themselves. Brothers away on the hunt, Mom at home preparing her for the same thing. It makes the time they DO get to spend together interesting. They always have good stories. More importantly, they always came home safe enough to actually tell those stories. She listened as he explained more about where he came from and how he hunted, eyeing the trident as it rolled down his arm and extended in to its weapon form. It never ceased to amaze her what shapes and sizes weapons could come in. “I dunno. It's got Professor Blowhorn beat.

As more Beowolf began to gather a few of the first ones charged, two of them singling out Tina. Two attempted to flank her on either side while the third rushed her head on. Readying her weapon, Tina would parry the one on her right with an upper swing then swinging the sword in a downward arc, bringing it back up and to her left just in time to relieve the Beowolf of one of his claws. She continued in that same motion by lashing out at the Beowolf on her right, leaning towards it this time. The added distance was enough for her to slice the Beowolf through his midsection. While his packmate had their prey distracted the Beowolf on the left would lash out with his still attached claw, Tina activating her Semblance and producing an icy spike in the palm of her free left hand. Tina would catch the Beowolf's claw with the ice spike and quickly rotate the appendage out of her way as she turned her sword over and lashed out at the left Beowolf as well, him meeting the same fate as his pack mate. By this time a third Beowolf had charged Tina, the ram faunus activating her Semblance in her feet this time and doing a back flip. When her hands met the ground the ice spike would melt beneath her hand, another larger and thicker spike coming out of the ground in time with her feet with just enough time left to stab the advancing Beowolf in the head as it came down from its jump. As soon as the Beowolf was impaled the ice immediately melted, Tina rotating her right arm and telling To “I dunno. The Ursa isn't that ugly. Maybe I could tame him. His name would be fluffy and he would be my fluffy.” She spoke as if she weren't in the middle of a battlefield, though the expression on her face told a very different tale.

Yale Skylight
Interacting with: Pumpkid Pumpkid

Silently smiling in the background after being praised for his innovative landing and their quick introduction, Yale followed Violet deeper into the forest. She was not only looking for the figurines that they were assigned to collect from the temple, but probably due to concern for her sibling, she wanted to reunite with him most likely as soon as possible. He accepted the side-quest with a nod, not seeing the need to voice his plans to help. Moments after she attempted to ask Yale a question about his weapons, a beowulf appeared. He watched as Violet stopped short, clearly afraid of the thing. Though to be honest, if he hadn't been taught the way he did, his first reaction towards seeing one in real life would've been similar, if not the same as hers. She was trembling, her weapon now seeming less than effective in the eyes of the beast as it moved in.

Wasting no time, Yale managed to land six aura-enhanced throwing stars into the creature's chest. The angry beast staggering back a bit as they sank deep, a loud dire howl expressing its displeasure. Sizing up the vicious predator, the blonde drew Edge Of Insanity, as an echo of himself throwing the six enhanced throwing stars replayed; two impaling its head and four once again sinking into its chest. The echo faded as Yale stabbed the beast with the blade containing the ice-based dust crystal, effectively freezing it solid inside out. He stepped aside, gesturing to the ice statue with his free hand after re-sheathing the other blade."Better now than never right?"

Violet watches in awe realizing she was saved. She falls to her knees from an overwhelming relief. "I-I'm sorry that was...just so surprising. I've never seen one up close. So that's what a Grimm looks like. It's horrifying in real life." She catches her breath and clenches her chest trying to force herself and relax.

Cuprum stopped as a boy landed in front of him. They looked at each other, and Cuprum knew that it was love in fir- no, partners, as the rules said.
"Yeah, I guess."
Cuprum answered the boy in a mild tone. He stretched out his hand for a nice friendly handshake.
"Cuprum Buckshot, friends call me Cup for short."

"Well...I wanted to make my Father proud; I'm carrying his greatest work after all." Steila answered, looking at the sky. While she was pertaining to herself, it might've been interpreted as the Jetpack. She wondered how her Father was doing; considering that his only 'Daughter' was out here, about to slay some Grimm. Her Father desires peace all around Remnant by assisting the Huntsmen in their work...Much like how Steila will be assistance to Pazia. She soon glanced back at her partner once more, letting out a cheerful giggle. "He'd like me to make some friends, too! I guess I'm doing a good job so far..." She scratched her chin as they continued walking. Their motives somewhat align; Steila wanting to carry out her Father's wishes, and Pazia desiring to help everyone. Perhaps it was fate that these two met. Who knows?

Soon enough, growling can be heard nearby...

"Yami Flugel. You may call me Yami if you so desire." Yami introduced, nodding his head as he shook Cuprum's hand...Or was it Cup? It doesn't matter either way, he might have to adjust working with this guy. Cuprum looked as if he could be a frontliner; his gear and equipment dictates so. He did have an impression that he's not that agile though...But don't judge a book by it's cover, right?

"Now then, shall we go?" Yami offered, holstering his gun as he fixed his gloves. "We have Grimm to purify..."

Sapphire Voshkie
Mood: Determined
Location: The Emerald Forest
Interacting With: Nooguy Nooguy

Sapphire nodded in agreement. She was already panicked enough about this whole 'initiation' thing, much less one where she had no idea who she was partnered with. Robin noted that Sapphire would probably be more comfortable with her sister. More comfortable, sure, but her style of fighting is... very different to mine. Too different. Sapphire thought. She loved her sister, but she felt like a drag on the battlefield. Of course, surely Paz thinks the same way about me and my fighting...

"I look forward to working along side you as a partner and friend." Robin finished, and Sapphire flushed. A friend? A friend? Emotional overload, emotional overload! She thought, barely noticing as the branch beneath Robin seemed to realize how much Robin really weighed.

Sapphire smiled somewhat shyly in response to Robin's happy agreement about the temple, the enthusiasm contagious.

Sapphire watched Robin's descent, thinking it was slightly... heavy, at least in comparison to her jump up. There was nothing wrong with the way she landed, nor the way she dropped, but she had leapt into the tree as if she were a feather. She fell out of the tree the same as anyone else would've. It just didn't quite line up. That was when Sapphire posed the question: "What's your semblance?" --Of course, Sapphire said it in many more words. She wasn't quite so eloquent.

Gravity? Huh. That sounds useful. Sapphire thought, paying attention as Robin talked. She watched Robin's demonstration with real interest, her eyebrows raising as the rock sunk deep into the Earth. Well, not deep. But definitely deeper than it should've. Robin explained that it was easier to make things lighter, jumping higher than normal into the air. Huh... Strange. Why would it be easier to make things lighter? Sapphire wondered. Semblances are weird.

Gravity warp... Sapphire echoed in her mind. It was kind of silly, but also, dare she say it, cool. She realized she should probably respond; she was being rude again. "I don't think it's all that silly." Sapphire disagreed quietly.

"My semblance?" Sapphire echoed, embarrassed to say it. "Ah, well, nothing special..." She said, walking along with Robin. You're stalling, Sapphire... Just say it.

"I can... summon smoke." She said rather lamely. "I can conjure smoke. Usually... Usually it's in a compressed ball in the palm of my hand, but when I throw it to the ground or clench my fist it disperses and makes a cloud that I can use to escape, or distract the enemy. Part of my semblance is, I think, being able to see almost perfectly in the smoke myself. I mean, I can usually only see silhouettes, but that's more than most people see in the smoke. It's pretty dense." She realized she was rambling. "Ah, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to go on and on about myself, just um-- I would show you but it might make it hard to see..." She realized what she could do and changed her mind.

"Well, I guess, here..." She stuttered, holding up her hand and focusing slightly. Into her open palm formed a gray orb of what one could assume was smoke. It looked pretty dark, but it was still gray, not quite dark enough to be called black. "If you put much pressure on this, it would 'explode'-- making a smoke screen." She paused for a moment. "I never gave it a cool name when I was a kid."

YÍn Sūn

Yín stood quietly and listened to the Professor as he directed her and the other students. As To moved away she called out goodbye, soon after, the others she had been standing with also drifted onto the crowd, naturally Yín decided to do the same. Unfortunately, she didn't manage to speak to anyone before she went to bed.

--

Yín woke up to the sound of the same professor calling out to the students, marking the beginning of the initiation into Beacon. Quickly she got up and dressed herself ready for whatever test awaited her.

On the top of the cliff at the Emerald forest, Yín looked around her at the other students. For a brief moment she started sizing up partners, then she turned her full attention to the headmistress as she called out the start. Seconds after her taunt Yín found herself flung into the air along with the other students. Quickly she spread out her limbs to slow down her fall. As she entered the trees she used her semblance to shift her body into the dark patch and materialise at the base of the tree.

Suddenly, she heard a girl's voice behind the trunk, turning around she saw the girl in question surrounded by a pack of Beowulf. On instinct she leapt forward and took out her fans. Using them to blow a blast of wind at the Grimm she pushed them back. Turning to the girl.
"Hi, my name's Yín. I guess we're partners now." She said smiling, taking a stance next to her.

To couldn't help but smirk at Tina's joke as he speared the Beowulf on the end of his trident. The Beowulf slumped and he used his weight to throw it at another one running towards Tina. It hit the other Beowulf just before evaporating, sending the other one tumbling off course and into a tree trunk. It would take that one some time to recover so he turned his attention to the Ursa now running at him. It was slower than the Beowulfs(Beowulves?) they'd been fighting, but To didn't fancy getting too close to the jaw the Grimm undoubtedly intended to use to hurt him. He waited until it was close, then jumped to the side and wrapped a chain around it's neck. He dug his feet into the ground and winced a little as the chain was pulled taught, the sudden pressure unbalancing the Ursa. He felt the chain start to strain and let it dissipate.

"Sorry, I had to put Fluffy down," He called out as he stabbed the Ursa through the chest. He looked up and around as the body evaporated. Only a couple of them left. Seems they were doing well. Two of the last remaining Beowulf were charging at him, one from where they'd all emerged from the undergrowth on his left and the other from where To had technically thrown it into a tree. The tree one, understandably, seemed quite mad about that.

To barely had time to duck as the one on the left jumped at him. He attempted to swipe at it with his trident, but it was too long to manoeuvre properly this close to the ground and it hit a toughened part of the Beowulf's hide. It cut the Grimm, but left no proper damage. The other one swerved around it's companion and To readied his trident.

As Sapphire spoke of her own semblance Robin could hear the lack of confidence or pride in her voice, likely thinking such a semblance as subpar. However the redhead hardly thought such was as lackluster as Sapphire seemed to be making it appear. Already Robin imagined a series of useful scenarios where such could be useful, and stacked on top of being able to see her foes while they themselves were blinded was hardly something to scoff at. A soft laugh left her as Sapphire apologized for rambling on, Robin waving a hand in dismissal. “Oh there’s no need to apologize Sapphire, I honestly can see your semblance being incredibly useful, you should be more confident in your abilities. Your semblance is a great form of control from what I can ascertain so far as well as defense and offense, and since you can use it in a ranged form by throwing it it’s that much more useful. I’m limited with my semblance in that I need to touch something to effect it.“ She spoke trying to bolster her partner’s attitude toward her own semblance, an idea soon sparking as they walked. “Have you thought of combining dust with your smoke? I can easily see doing so greatly amplifying the versatility of your semblance, make your smoke into a burning barrier or electrifying field.” Robin suggested.

As she spoke with the faunus Robin felt a strange sense of protectiveness toward her, perhaps Sapphire reminded her of her own youngest sibling who acted in a similarly quiet and timid fashion. She certainly felt that Sapphire was capable of much, looking forward to seeing just what the other youth could do when put into combat. If there’s anything that shows one’s potential it’s being thrown into an intense situation, combat especially so, and the two of them likely weren’t going to be leaving the forest unscathed. As if fate decided confrontation was better done sooner than later as a series of eerie howls filled the air. Halting her stride, Robin immediately shifted Reprisal to its melee, single handed form as Haven shifted to its square form. “Well, I guess we’ll get to test our mettle sooner than later.” Robin remarked as she reached behind her, slipping her hand into the satchel around her waist to retrieve a dust canister, a red ring indicating elemental fire as she inserted it into reprisal with a quick twist, a short hiss emanating from the canister as it locked into her weapon. A small pack of Beowulf soon made their presence know, a few darting through a few bushes to spot the two young students and howling, more joining their kin in response. A quick look at the enemy drew their number to a not terrible, but not pleasant, six. Reprisal soon ignited in a faint rush of flames, Robin priming her weapon as its striking face glowed amid the flickering fire. “I’ll try and keep their attention drawn to me Sapphire and give you openings to exploit.” Robin spoke, her tone steady and calm, expression growing more stern as she squared her stance toward their foes. “We’ve got this partner.” She quipped, her tone shifting to more encouraging as she looked over to Sapphire, giving her a reassuring smile and wink before beginning to advance toward the pack. As she closed with her foes, pace a swift stride, the redhead began pounding her weapon against her shield in a slow, audible fashion. “You’ll face me beasts!” She called out, voice strong as she was true to her word in making herself look the bigger threat which appeared to work for a few of the grimm as one swiftly lunged after her followed by a second. Bringing her shield up the first of the Beowulf collided against it, Robin redirecting its momentum off to her left side before bringing her hammer upward, connecting squarely with the chest of the second in a resounding crack against its bony protrusions, sending the creature flying back with a yelp. “Come on I’m hardly breaking a sweat!” Robin continued to goad the creatures, displaying a fiery exuberance in rather stark contrast to her otherwise calm and warm demeanor. Shifting to the grimm she’d deflected, Robing channeled her semblance to lighten her hammer momentarily as she swung it toward the creature, allowing the strike to be much swifter before shifting the weapon’s weight to heavier as its head began to swing downward. While its compatriot met a painful end at her hammer, the Beowulf before Robin displayed more keen agility as it dodged away. As her hammer met the ground a violet explosion of flames engulfed the ground where it once stood. Swearing beneath her breath Robin waved the smoke away, just barely catching two additional grimm charging toward her in a murderous lunge. Her shield extending to its maximum length, Robin braced herself as the two creatures collided against the surface with a solid clang, grunting in exertion from the weight as she held her ground, shouting as her aura bolstered her strength enough to shove them both away. “That’s it show me why you’re feared by the people of Remnant!” She continued to berate the beasts, not seeming to care if they understood her, more working to keep herself on their radar and not Sapphire.
