Sans The Skeleton

No sooner could Sans attempt to go back to sleep did the door open, revealing his brother. Great. Just when he was thinking that Papyrus had somehow forgotten about his morning wake up call. Guess he wasn't walking out of this one. Slowly, the skeleton slid out of bed and began to lazily go about his morning routing while his brother gave him the usual speech. He rubbed his eyesockets. That festival must have taken more out of him than he thought.
The skeleton gave a sleeoy hum as he heard about Frisk. Come to think of it, Frisk did seem off. The human seemed distracted. Like something pressing was on mind. He never really thought to ask about it. Well, it wasn't like he could anyway since he was so busy dealing with Mettaton and Mad Mew Mew amongst other issues. He was always the one in charge of mediation during the special events. Mostly because he was usually the easiest to speak to. Papyrus of course loved meeting new people but the taller skeleton could also be a bit overwhelming. Sans was more relaxed and could calmly talk and sort out solutions to probkens. Even if that did mean that poor Sans spent more of the festival mediating than having fun.

* yeah i guess they were distracted. but why would that change wbat they think of us? besides, you're the great papyrus, right?

The skeleton responded to Papyrus's frantic banter. He had now stumbled into the living room, seeing the news report. People going missing? Since when was that going on? Things were definately starting to take some odd turns. Somehow he had this weird feeling that things might get worse before they get better.

Alphys's jaw shook as she stumbled her words as the girl remained an empty glare, almost impatient with the yellow monster teacher. Bailed out at the last second by another familiar figure in the room, perhaps even the same species.

Clara turns her heel towards Susie, a purple monster with an impressive height than most of the class she knows. The girl folds her arms with her head tilting.

*"..."
*"I've done the Homework, Susie."
*"...What I didn't know is about the 6 before--"

Susie summons a weapon in arm. Sharp, large, and dangerous. Clara's eyes opened wide and her arms were thrown back to her sides, her left foot stepped back.

Aw what happened to that confidence just a second ago? Do I scare ya that much already?

I don't understand why everyone has been so scared to talk about the six humans we killed. I mean humans killed hundreds of us in the past so what six to that?

Susie brings her axe down violently multiple times. Rather than striking Clara directly, she summoned smaller axes with each swing. They twirled in the air for a moment before flying toward Clara.

WHY OF COURSE NOTHING COULD POSSIBLY BE TOO HARD FOR THE GREAT PAPYRUS TO SOLVE! NOW ENOUGH BOONDOGGLING THE DAY IS STILL YOUNG!

Papyrus rushed out the door bringing the same infectious energy. In truth, he wasn't worried about what Frisk would think of them but it was the other humans he was worried about, even if he didn't fully understand the extent of what is happening he could tell the event left some tension in the air. At the same time tho Frisk didn't look to be doing too well after that like they were nervous about something yet also somehow determined.
Speaking of the devil.
HUMAN! I SEE YOU ARE DOING WELL TODAY. ER, YOUR FOOD PREFERENCES ASIDE. SO MUCH GREASE...

Frisk had been standing outside Grillby's finishing their burger. Well more like holding it in their mouth while their hands were busy scrolling through their phone. Papyrus's sudden booming voice caught them off guard and they almost started choking on their food.
* H-hey guys funny seeing you two here right now.

Their face flushed from having been caught. They attempted to save face and finished their burger 'normally', a bit too fast for normal tho.

Sans The Skeleton

Sans chuckled lightly at his brother's usual enthusiasm. At least it difn't seem as if Papyrus was concerned about current events. That was a good thing. As long as his brother was happy, Sans could find some sort of solace regardless of the suspicons he had. He shoved his hands into his hoodie pockets as always before slinking out the door behind his brother. Maybe he could ask Frisk what was bothering them. Of course, ideally, when they were alone. It was only when they were alone was it safe for there to be some real honesty.

He was surprised to see that Frisk was actually standing outside of Grillby's, in a hurry to finish their food.

* looks like we caught someone red-handed, heh.
* don't be so shy about liking grillby's food. their burgs are the best.

The skeleton smiled at the human as usual, though he could tell that their expression was still off. The gaze in Sans's eyelights was saying more than what he was saying outright. It might be possible for Frisk to read it if they looked closely enough:

"Are you SURE nothing's wrong? Because I know something's off"

The relaxed yet serious look to the skeleton's gaze said it all. He'd be saying it outright if his brother wasn't present.

Her left eyebrow twitched as Susie runs her mouth, hands curling into fists. It didn't take a second for the purple monster to draw violence with multiple swings of the axe. Luckily for the class president, the axe broadcasted their flight before engaging. Enough time to strafe left and right from the axes single directional flight. Although the last two axes managed to hit her on the left side, only grazing the last one by an inch.

What's with me? Oh, I don't know. Maybe I'm just tired of everyone acting like everything is fine, like we all don't want to just tear each other to shreds. You're right this won't solve anything, but maybe ill feel better.

Susie twirlers her axe mid-air before tossing it directly at Clara. It would then appear back in Susie's hand and she would repeat this 3 times.

HUMAN! WE HAVE MUCH TO DO TODAY. FIRST WE MUST-

Papyrus began to trail on, walking ahead of the two and filling the air with his voice.
* Never a dull moment huh?

Since Papyrus was carried away in his own voice they had a chance to catch up with the shorter skeleton. Back in the underground seven years ago, they had indirectly revealed to Sans that they could travel through time, although Sans's "code words" were very juvenile. Frisk still couldn't believe he tricked them into saying such things. Despite this, they never actually explained how they could time travel but it never came up again after the barrier was destroyed so it didn't seem to matter. With save points showing up again it was making them worried for the future, the last time they saw these they were fighting for their life every day.
Sans's expression made it clear he could tell something was bothering them so they guessed they should say something while Papyrus was distracted.
* I'm a bit worried right now. I just have a feeling things are gonna get rough soon. I don't know how to explain why I just do.

A fuzzy bear-looking monster was worriedly roaming the streets nearby, they looked to be calling for someone.

Sans The Skeleton

Sans was all too used to his brother's banter. In all truth, he would think something was wrong with the taller skeleton if he wasn't prattling on about his extravagant plans for the day. Made the lazy skeleton happy that his brother still seemed to be doing well in spite of all the bad feelings he was getting. That said, Papyrus was also too into his banter to really notice if he and Frisk were paying attention so it was a good time for them to catch up.

Frisk must have gotten the same idea as they began to voice their concerns to Sans. The skeleton kept a lax song as he put his hands into his hoodie pockets. But Frisk may see that he is in fact very serious.

* i'm not going to sugar coat it, frisk, i feel the same. things just don't feel right this time. but of course, this could all be because paps got me up way too early so i'm not thinking properly.

He always had to end things off on a lighter note. As nieve as Papyrus was, Sans knew he wasn't stupid. He would be the first to pick up on it if anyone did something too out of line. He was sensitive like that and while Sans would never want Papyrus to change, sometimes it made it harder to communicate certain orivate feelings with Frisk. But they've also done so many times by now, ever since Frisk proved to him they coukd time travel. They've both learned their ways to sneak paat Papyrus and the others' eyes.

* you noticed anything out of the ordinary?

His next words were more hardspoken and to the point yet someone like Papyrus may miss it and just think he was joking around with the human.

The ax wielder continues on. During the short pause, she noticed a short wince from the classmate. A hesitation before swinging their mighty purple arms toward her face. Leaning her head to the left. The second follow-up caught the girl off guard, slashing her right shoulder. The sting of the blade puts her still open for a third attack. Slapping her right hand to her right ear. The grip of the pen is now in her hand. She only briefly gazed towards Susie and then the pen before putting it back in her tweed blazer. The third attack came nearly grazed the girl as she dashes swiftly to the side, the pain on her shoulder slowly dissipates.

Long ago two races ruled over the Earth.
Humans and Monsters.
One day war broke out between the two races.
After a long battle, the Humans were victorious.
They sealed the Monsters underground with a magic spell.
Many years later. . .
MT Ebott

After many years of tragedy and suffering this war would finally truly come to an end.
Humans, Monsters, everyone.
With everyone's power, with everyone's determination.
The barrier separating the surface from the subterranean was shattered.
However. . .
Darkness grows from beneath the surface to disrupt the peace.

* HOME TOWN 2122 *

* Seven years have passed since the barrier was destroyed. Near the base of Mt Ebott, Home Town was founded, a small community that consists of a small community of both Monsters and Humans who wanted to stay away from the more chaotic big city. Home Town was completed exactly one year after the barrier was destroyed thus a celebration was in order. Since then every year the town would get together to celebrate.
* Due to the festival Home Town would be larger than normal as people from all around made the trip to participate. In the center of town, townspeople were rushing around to complete any last-minute preparations. Toriel, headmaster at the local school, had let the children out of class early so they could enjoy the festival.

A brand new day, a brand new start. All are gathered for the season. The unification of Monster and Humans has seized the air. Class has been dismissed early for the time reunion. Humans and Monsters scuttle amongst the streets, pathways and the plaza. Decorations plastered and hung up the poles and walls and stalls building by rows.

Toriel's class scattered at the announcement. One of them a Human girl with long brown hair walks side by side with two child monsters at her side. A bipedal yellow feathered bird kid with a red baseball cap, has a noticeably chipped beak and a closely-human cyclops girl with only an eye for their entire face, she looks sheepish.

Ametrine moves forward leaving the two at the entrance of the square. Waving goodbye to the two monster children. The visitors were coming in flocks as she follows the flow of folks of different shapes and sizes.

It did not take long for gazing Ametrine to find a struggling aged man on a stepladder decorating the hanging streamers. The girl immediately enters a state of alert. She sprints towards the ladder, securing it's wobbling legs before anyone could visibly notice. A roll of electrical tape drops onto her her head like a coconut from a palm tree, no complaint escaped Ametrine's mouth.

*The old man lets out a hearty laugh.

Ametrine picks up the fallen tape off the ground while keeping one hand on the ladder. In one great swing of a toss, the tape returns safely into the old man's lap. Ametrine sighs in relief. The two had a small conversation of things around before giving small wave to one another. The Festival is starting to take form and she too was more than happy to look around even taking a photo of the central area at it's preparations.

Just around the corner, Ametrine's eyes took a quick stop to eye a blonde-ponytailed woman near the stalls currently on set up. She looked frantic, searching her pockets and the ground for an something.

undertale_text_box (16).png

There was her clue, a ring is significantly hard to find but will be visually distinct given its glint. Like a superhero into danger, Ametrine puts her hands on her hips, chin upwards to the panicky woman.

undertale_text_box (17).pngundertale_text_box (18).png

*The woman took a deep breath...

undertale_text_box (20).png

The soon to be married woman went on a long monologue of how she is loved by her fiancé and details every single routine she did until she arrived at the Festival early. Ametrine through the whole process was getting bored at first and began to look around where the lady appears to have been. Searching high and low for the shiny ring while the lady talks her ear off, barely looking for the ring herself.

undertale_text_box (28).png

Ametrine conveniently stands next to a rather tall trashcan. The only one around in this area. Diving head first into the bin, the lady shuts her mouth from the girl's sudden action. With eyes of disgust and curiosity.

undertale_text_box (29).png

Her jaw dropped and feet hopping in joy when Ametrine unveils a greased up foil wrapping with her star glinting engagement ring reveals itself from the wasted burger like pearl from a clam. Ametrine stands unimpressed. A thanks was given followed with another long line of gratitude and other irrelevant details about the woman. The conversation ends with Ametrine being slapped down an honest 3g worth of coins and a free alcohol spray drop to for the hands and "Hard-earned gold". Ametrine marches down along the road like nothing happened.

Sans The Skeleton

Sans and Papyrus' Home: Sans's Room

A new day had dawned, and with it came yet another morning in which waking up was proving to be a pain for our lazy punny skeleton. As his brother woke up, flooding the house with noise, Sans merely moved to the side in his messy bed, his eyes closed as he kept the blanket over his head, not wanting to let the light into his eyesockets just yet.

1706089126548.png

His voice came in a mumble, hoping that the response would be enough for his brother to stop yelling across the house and leave him to slumber but he knew better. If something important was going on today or rather, something Papyrus deemed as important, there was going to be no stopping him from getting Sans' lazy bones out of bed. It still didn't stop him from trying to avoid getting up, however, as once again, Papyrus's loud voice sounded, this time saying about a "big day" ahead. His eyes now open, Sans responded, though he had still not yet moved to get out of bed.

1706089659828.png

He pulled a sleepy joke this time as he kept himself curled up in the blanket. Getting up was probably going to be inevitable at this point. Or perhaps his brother might get too annoyed to keep on trying to get him to get up. However, for a third time, his brother spoke but this time, it took Sans aback.

1706090034428.png
1706090155949.png
1706090211448.png

He mostly directed the latter parts of his speech toward himself more than his brother. Frisk had been away for almost an entire year. Something about studies they had to attend to. Didn't seem that they particularly cared for much else. Holidays had come and gone with minimal contact from them. Maybe not necessarily human holidays but birthdays had come and gone and Frisk hadn't even called. University was a busy thing sure, but he figured if Frisk actually cared so much about the monster friends they had made down here, then more of an effort to stay in touch might have been made. So what did today matter so much then? There was a festival today. So what? What did it matter to the human who'd spent this past year "focused on studies" and nothing else?

He knew better than to believe his brother was just going to give up on waking him up. Best at least let him know that he was planning to get ready to start the day as much as he really didn't want to. Otherwise, Papyrus was sure to keep yelling across the house forever. Or perhaps he would still continue anyway.

1706090642552.png

He announced to his brother as he lazily began pushing the blankets away from him, letting them fall onto his already messy room floor. Best get the day started and see what it brings for better or worse. It wasn't like Sans could just lay around all day. Papyrus certainly wouldn't allow it. He rubbed his head, sitting on the edge of the bed. He felt especially groggy today. His skull pounded a bit as he put his feet on the ground, fishing the floor for his slippers and hoodie. He'd already slept in his shirt and shorts. Was he going to change into clean clothes? Nope. Not even this particular occasion was enough for Sans to be bothered to do laundry.

undertale_text_box.png
A man appearing to be somewhere in his late 30s stood off to the sidelines observing the construction of the festival. It was already nearing completing just a few more touches needed to be done.
undertale_text_box(1).png

undertale_text_box(2).png

The man ended communication and walked off to blend into the crowd.

Toriel had just barley stopped her onslaught of questions before the poor human would find this awkward reunion was far from over.

undertale_text_box(8).png

Papyrus was practically (or perhaps literally in his case) jumping for joy. Of course in true Papyrus fashion he couldn't resist praising himself as their 'greatest friend'.

undertale_text_box(9).png

Frisk demeanor had certainly changed over time. While they retained their bright smile and kind attitude that monster kind had grown to know, it seemed more forced now. Despite the smile their eyes showed bags as a result of stress or lack of sleep.

undertale_text_box(10).png

A small child sized figure stood by in the crowd. Yet no one seemed to notice it. It appeared to be observing the other child that was helping the other festival visitors. If one were to look directly at this figure they wouldn't be able to make out much but a blurry shape, that is until the figure would disappear into the crowd.
