Magical Girl/Boy Categories Explained:
There are three categories of Magical Girls/Boys: Powerhouse, Defender, and Wild Cards. The three categories are described below:

Powerhouse: Powerhouses are defined by their strength. Their abilities are often combat based and, as implied by the name, powerful. Don’t mistake them for meatheads, though. Many of them can be quite cunning. The symbol for the Powerhouse is a fist, though not all Powerhouses use their fists.

Guardians: Guardians have primarily defensive powers. Guardians aren’t usually the most useful in straight up combat but with clever execution they can hold their own. Of course, the best and most frequent use of their powers is the protection of others. Sure a Powerhouse can smash an incoming boulder but a Guardian can protect people from the leftover pieces. The symbol for the Guardian is, of course, a shield.

Wild Card: Wild Cards are Magical Girls/Boys who don’t fit into either of the above categories. Their powers tend to be out there and sometimes don’t even appear to be useful. But, at the same time, even the most useless seeming of Wild Card can be powerful. The symbol for the Wild Card is a classic card game Joker.

High Concept:
A magical girl who uses powerful magics drawn randomly from a deck of cards eerily similar to ones from a certain children's trading card game.

Personality:
A level headed and soft spoken young woman. She is surprisingly able to handle stressful situations rather well. Sasara leans on the polite side in most instances, but is quick to be fond towards people who act positively towards her. She oddly drawn to people with odd interests and sometimes has oddly specific knowledge on odd trivial things. She seems to be so used to people being strange that she can - on-occasion - misunderstand to an impressive degree.

Background:
An experienced Magical Girl Shipped Straight from Japan.

Early on in life she gained a fascination with the magical girl genre and watched those types of shows zealously to the point she can still yammer out trivia about them on command. In elementary school she was also known for being very lucky. This supposed luck lead to a nasty rumor about stealing the good luck from other students which caused her to be a little bit of an outcast afterwards - and is what gives her her particular dislike towards generally 'popular' like people. She did find friends in the unique characters and otaku who easily befriended her despite her reputation.

In high school, she gained her magical girl powers through the Hearts Program where magical girls' powers were awakened through a special phone app. Sasara's memory from this period is generally hazy. All she remembers now is tidbits of what lead up to the first time she was able to transform, and (for her) a concerning residual proficiency in using those powers. She knows there there are people she met from that time that she will never see again. Sasara sadly only has very fleeting memories of them, but she knows that they were supposed be very important to her. While she does a good job of hiding it - the fact that she's forgotten them greatly troubles her. Especially since she can't remember why she forgot them in the first place.

    By now an outdated piece of junk. This was the phone that has the Hearts app that allows Sasara to transform with a simple swipe. Its long lost the original use as a regular phone, but can still connect to wi-fi and is perpetually at 50% battery no matter the circumstances. Sasara has it securely strapped to one of her thighs.
  • Generic Phone of the Year
    The current model of phone of the year that is able to play even the most graphic intensive games and has a camera with ultra zoom. She really only uses it to text and browse the internet though.
  • Student Visa
    This student visa allows Sasara to reside in the country for the purposes of studying at Rosemary Academy.
  • School Bag
    A strapped school bag suitable for carrying her laptop and other various school related things while affording some space to carry some extra things as well. Suitable for a quick stop at a convenience store.
  • Deckbox of Cards
    A deckbox of playing cards that Sasara keeps strapped to her waist with a belt. Seemingly is able to produce unlimited numbers of various playing cards at will. She'll often use them for card tricks to impress people she meets. When transformed to her magical girl form, the cards reveal their true nature.

  • Heart-Shaped Hair Pin
    A heart shaped hair pin she keeps in a little box with other keepsakes from her time in Japan. It exists as a pair, the other half being worn by her best friend who still resides in Japan. She treasures it dearly, and opted to keep it safe rather than risk losing it.
  • Empty Soda Bottle
    A tall glass soda bottle with a promotional flavor. Proof that she was able to forgive someone. She's long forgotten the name and face of the person who had given this to her.
  • Purple Ribbon
    This stringy purple ribbon seems to have traces of dried blood on it. Proof she was never forgiven for something. But the person or the reason why has fully escaped her.
  • Voodoo Doll
    A now defunct voodoo doll with dark purple hair and a lacy nightdress. Proof that she had gained freedom from her fate to be a certain someone's puppet. She doesn't even want to remember anything related to this doll, but feels compelled to keep it anyway.
  • Airsoft Gun
    A super detailed metal airsoft gun that somehow made it past customs. One of her high school friends have her this on the belief that it would save her from getting robbed in America. Sasara knows better than that though, so she keeps it in the box as a keepsake too.
  • Stringy Thunder Purse
    A black and gold designer thin-strapped purse with a thunderbolt motif that Sasara was gifted on her birthday before she left Japan. It's actually literally the most expensive thing she currently owns. She brings it out on friendly outings.


Skills and Abilities:

  • Lucky
    Sasara is really lucky. Need to have someone win a random lottery? Give her the ticket! Though a big state-wide lottery might still be up in the air due to overbearing statistics. Sasara's luck actually got her bullied in school so she's very discreet about it. But it still is noticeable.
  • Dodge
    Maybe related to her luck, when things are getting lobbed at her, she might look like she's flailing about randomly, but observe for a long time and people realize she's actually really good at not getting hit.
  • Sleight of Hand
    Sasara is good at doing party tricks and has a very well developed sleight of hand. She could presumably be a really good 'poker player' if she was devious enough to go that route. On the other hand, she is able to perform the action of activating her magical girl app very stealthily as well. On an offhand note, very good at drawing cards from a deck very dramatically. She can also throw those cards like they're throwing knives with frightening finesse.
  • Speak English
    She has an unmistakable Japanese accent but her English is good enough that it's difficult to express the nuances of that accent in text. She got help from a transfer student she knew in high school, and became reasonably fluent at the conversational level. The accent makes her sound extra charming for the large fraction of Americans who love accents.

Civilian Appearance:
So used wearing her uniform that she still wears it to school to save her nicer clothes for outings. When going out, she likes light, loose, and cozy clothing. She's really partial to wearing berets too.

Powers: Witchcrafter Recipe Deck
Allows her to invoke the full effects of her Witchcrafter Recipe Deck. Sasara can draw a card with a random effect at certain intervals (per post of her player) and can either invoke the effect immediately or save up on cards for a bigger strike. The cards she possesses dissappear after the threat she's facing is gone.

Draws a 'card' that corresponds to the 'time' of the last post made by the User (Ehb) based on the last digit of the minute. Ex: if the last post by Ehb was Yesterday @ 6:16, she can 'draw' the 6th card. Sasara can refrain from using cards to increase their power (By Drawing the same copy) or save them to use in a big attack later on.

In The Case of 'Greedy Potter' the cards drawn from that effect are based on the single digit minute number of the two posts BEFORE the last post written by (Ehb).

  5. Solemn Fellow (Card) - A card with the picture of a robed man. It immolates a target with burning purifying light when used.

  6. Steelslime Guarder (Card) - A card that summons a metallic slime monster to take a hit or just body an opponent.

  7. Greedy Potter (Card) - A card with a sneering face molded onto a sort of clay pot. Allows her to draw two cards and combine their effects.

  8. Magical Fuser (Card) - A card showing a vortex drawing in two different beings. Creates a doppel that temporarily fights with a combined derivitive magic of two nearby entities.

  9. Unlimited Unpermenancer (Card) - A card showing the core of a mighty winged-mechanical beast. It seals the magic of an opponent temporarily.

Weapons:

Witchcrafter Recipe Deck

As detailed above, Sasara's power is generated randomly by drawing 'cards' from this deck that have various effects attached to them. The cards can get stronger if she saves them up for combinations, or when she draws multiple copies which increases the strength of the effect when finally used. She can invoke the cards and cast magic at a distance. The cards can also be thrown. When done like this, thanks to Sasara's sleight of hand they can reliably strike nearby opponents and they will generically manifest the effect on the foe on impact.

Magical Capture Staff
A staff with a glass bauble at the end. The staff sort of breaks easily and the bauble shatters often to the point Sasara learned to quickly-manifest a replacement on the fly. She can also detonate the glass bauble sending shards of class to pelt a nearby foe without getting hit herself. The shards and broken staff disintegrate a few moments after she re-manifests another staff.

The bauble can also 'capture' things. She can capture magic cast at her (or in some cases small creatures). When used for this purpose, the measly glass bauble suddenly becomes amazingly resilient to the point of being usable as a mace. Magic and creatures can be released explosively from the bauble as well.

Anti-Gravity Fuku
Sasara found that on command, her magical girl outfit has some antigravity-like properties. While she can not forcibly zip through the air like a dedicated flyer, she can hop up and suspend herself in the air. She's learned to twist around her body, and adjust the 'floatyness' of her costume to give her some limited maneuverability and evasion while suspended in the air.

High Concept: Stoic girl who rarely ever tries.
Personality: Makavia is noted to be someone who puts themself first before anyone else, they are a experienced follower and is noted to rarely ever reveal their emotional state. They are a master at deadpan sarcasm, and can get annoyed easily, they aren't usually very considerate but knows when to keep their thoughts to themselves. They are noted to be completely rational though, rarely ever acting based on emotional impulse, and is reluctant to go through with things that could be deemed too risky for them. She rarely ever tries which can make her a frustrating teammate to have at timed, though when she does actually put in effort she can be really good at it.

Background:
Coming from a Wealthy middle class family, her parents were noted to not be able to make time for their children so instead had a maid hired to take care of them and their house while their parents was away. With this though Makavia was noted to have a twin brother as well, who usually took the lead on most things they did while she served as his back up, while she had no interest in the concept of magic girls, her brother did. Her brother showed a lot more interest in Magical Girls, and she typically only really went with it, her brother had expressed interest in what it would be like to be able to have all those abilities and grew to be a complete nerd about it. Their school life wasn't all that bad, since they typically stuck together and would usually make up for each others weaknesses and flaws, when it came to just about any situation. However they one day got into some trouble when a Rouge Magical Girl, started causing chaos in their area, they had no real way of escape without getting themselves harmed and almost got themselves killed, luckily their brother was able to get into their magical girl state, and after spending a few moments of getting use to their abilities, they quickly went on the offense, in order to stop the rouge magical girl. Unfortunately, her brother was pure offense and not as skilled as the other magical girl, which almost lead them to being killed, but before they were able to land a killing blow on their brother Makavia was able to get themselves into a Magical Girl State as well, unlike her brother though, her abilities were mostly defensive, so she tried a tactic with her brother. While she would be the shield, he would be the sword, the tactic was simple, but helped a lot as the Rouge Magical Girl could hardly get any meaningful attacks in with their teamwork, and when it was apparent that other magical girls would be coming, she went on to turn tail and retreat. With their new found abilities noted, they were both recommended to Thaumatic Warriors Project, and after being pressured by their brother to accept, Makavia reluctantly did so.

: A transwoman who prayed to be in the right body. She got her wish but with the catch of being a magical girl.

Personality: Briana is kind, fun-loving, and cheerful. She's someone who is the life of the party but will make sure everyone feels included and, if they want, gets some time in the spotlight. She's spontaneous with ideas and confident enough to share/execute them without fear of what others think. She can be flirtatious and forward, but if she is informed she is crossing a boundary, she will happily tone it down. She sticks up for people she feels are being wronged and urges people to be their true, authentic, best selves, even if they aren't exactly close to her.

Her shortcomings are found in her work ethic when it comes to things she isn't interested in. She's easily distracted, leaves things unfinished, and is unreliable in terms of meetings and deadlines. When confronted about these things, she feels guilty for a little bit but then tries to play it off with humor. Things are better when it comes to things she is actually interested in, but she is quick to lose that interest if she finds the task at hand to be too difficult or tedious.

Coincidentally, this is only the case in her magical girl form. When in her civilian form, she is quite the opposite. Her confidence being lost due to being seen as a man, she is shy, anxious, and insecure. Her kindness and genuine desire for the best still shine through, but are much more muted due to her difficulty with expressing herself.

Background: From an early age, Briana knew something was not quite right. She wanted dolls while growing up when her parents told her "boys play with trucks," and she wanted to dance when her parents said "boys play sports." Things might have been different if her family was more progressive, but for as long as she could remember, she wished she could have been born a girl. As she grew up, it went from simply taking interest in "girly" things to full-blown gender dysphoria. Presenting as anything but a masculine boy was not an option under her strict parents' roof, and transitioning was most definitely off the table. Her parents, being quite devout, would make her pray every night. While her body continued to go through changes she was unhappy with, her only way to cope was to ask God during her nightly prayers to put her into the right body. She wanted nothing more than to be like the strong, beautiful, and successful popstars she saw in the media.

Miraculously, when she was fifteen, it happened. When she opened her eyes after praying like usual, sitting in front of her was a black choker, studded with silver spikes. Almost instinctively, she put it around her neck, and she found herself bathed in bright, multi-colored lights. She felt compelled to move like the divas she idolized in their music videos, and a few poses later, she found herself having done a sudden wardrobe change. More notable than the new clothes though were the breasts which had grown from her chest, the long locks which sprouted from her hair, and what was missing between her legs. God had answered her prayers, and her dream of being in the right body had come true.

From that day on, she lived a double life. During the day, she was the good, devout son her parents expected her to be, but at night... she was truly herself. She was able to get into all sorts of mischief that teenagers do, but whenever she got close to getting caught, simply removing her choker allowed her to appear as a completely different person.

Sadly, it wasn't a secret she could keep forever. When she was eighteen, her parents found out. She wasn't sure whether it was just coincidence that her mom was up later than she expected, or perhaps she had been a little too loud while making her exit, but either way, the woman caught Briana while she was transformed. Accusations were made about her being there to corrupt their son and threats were made to call the police. Maybe if she had had a more level head, she could have thought of a better way out, but at that point, the only way forward Briana could think of was revealing the truth. She took off her choker and allowed herself to transform back, much to her parents' shock.

They had questions, of course, and once again, she couldn't think of anything to do besides answer honestly. It was a conversation that left them angry at, disappointed in, and ashamed of her. They demanded she discard the choker, to which she refused. When they tried to take it from her, she resisted. That was unacceptable for them. They gave Briana an ultimatum: either she discard the choker and return to the good son they had raised, or she is no longer welcome in their home. With tear-filled eyes, she muttered a goodbye and walked out.

She was left hopeless and unsure of what to do for awhile, but she then remembered the government programs for magical girls. A few phone calls were made and a few days were spent to travel, leading to her eventually arriving at Rosemary Academy.

- Sonic Screech: speaking/shouting/singing into her microphone allows her to emit powerful soundwaves, the vibrations of which can cause unstable structures to break, things which aren't locked down to be pushed back, etc. Essentially loud sound energy.

High Concept:
A magical girl fan turned magical girl late in her teens, she's desperate to belong in the group and prove herself... even if she doesn't have a total handle on her powers yet.

Personality:
An eclectic personality formed from a few different of her favorite magical girls. She loves being loud and friendly, and can cite up to three facts about most known magical girls on a moment's notice. She's still not sure how her magic works, and is honestly a little worried if she'll measure up to everyone else. However, she covers insecurities with jokes, false smiles, and laughter. If she can mask her own worries, surely she'll be fine.

Background:
When she was young, she lived in New York, when a villain attack destroyed her home, nearly killing her and her parents. A wild card magical girl managed to heal and send them to the nearby emts. Kori received the worst of the cuts and injuries, and was in the hospital the longest. Her time in the hospital was bland and empty until she randomly turned on the television to fill the empty hospital room and saw the magical girl being interviewed. The bright costume and smile made the room more bearable. Her free time was quickly devoured by research and learning all about magical girls, boy, and non-binaries. She started dressing up in magical girl adjacent outfits to go to school.

However, her parents soon moved to a small town upstate, away from the frenzy of the city. As time went on, Kori became more and more obsessed, slowly hoping for magic powers and trying to study her way into being a magical girl. However, she was lousy at engineering and was banned from the robotics club, after an incident with Blendy the Hammerbot, a hammer attached to a roomba. Then a few weeks before going to Rosemary Academy in the story, she gained powers over wind and transformed into her alter ego of the water sorceress Aqua. The reason for her recruitment was that her parents figured that the training might dissuade her from actually doing anything too dangerous, and sent in the application the moment she told them she was a magical girl.

Journal, like most girls her age, she keeps her thoughts in a journal. However, this journal contains her most private thoughts, and while she keeps it on her for safety... she would probably lash out at whoever tried to read it.

Useless Magical Girl Trivia- How much time do you have to let her infodump about the latest magical girl? Hope it's a lot.

Civilian Appearance:
Lots of street fashion, she tends to go for lolita fashion with big skirts and bright colors. She is pretty fussy about her appearance and is in relatively good shape, but she's a bit on the short side, if by a bit I meant she's about 5' 2". She also has a few scars on her face from when she was younger and was attacked by a villain, but they're largely faded now.

Water/Ice Manipulation: If there's water she can see, Aqua can use her fans to manipulate water. She can also turn it into ice, but her manipulation is linked to her movements. If there's no visible water, or she can't move, she can't attack.

Ice Wall: A thin wall of ice.

Ice Spears: She turns the water she has to ice and sends them at enemies with a wave of the fans.

Water Blades: Using thin blades of water, she can cut anything that isn't metal.

Geyser: A large torrent of water is blasted at her enemy.

Ice Skates: She can freeze small blades on her feet and the ground in front of her to move faster.

Underwater Breathing: Aqua can breath underwater as though it was air.

Strength: She is marginally stronger to the average magical girl, however she is a bit more fragile due to old injuries.

Weapons:
Metal fans, they are thin enough to fool people into thinking they're paper, but a single hit from these is painful. Icy patterns of permafrost decorate them.

High Concept (a brief one line description of your character's basic concept): FF Dragoon, big jumps, big dives, first in, last out.

Personality:
Arguably the most sociable of the pack, Kent is most likely to be considered the face of the team. She is seen by others as rather rebellious and freewheeling, and indeed, she enjoys having fun, lazing around, and just enjoying what life has to offer her on her downtime. She is frivolous, flirtatious, and generally easy-going.

On the field, she doesn’t lose the attitude, often going for the easiest route to finish up the job, and it is reflected in her most common strategy- go up high, slam straight down into target, either vaporising them from the drop or skewering them straight through- a human missile of her own. She doesn’t seem to understand the severity of the threats that she is sent up against, and she doesn’t really care. She just wants to make her money, go home, and party.

Background:
Fiora Kent never thought buying something she thought looked cool would land her in the Thaumatic Warriors Program at all. Wandering the streets whilst she was playing hooky she had stumbled across a strange shop that she had never seen before. Opened recently, she surmised, and had entered it out of curiousity. Very strangely, there was no shopkeeper, and there was no one else within. Jewellery of all sorts lined the shelves, just lying out there in the open. Just by looking at one of them, she knew that these were genuine articles of precious gems. She had thought it strange that no one had stolen anything yet, but thought nothing more of it. She wasn't exactly the thinking type after all. She was only really good for one thing at school, and it was running. Ah well, whatever. She browsed the available merchandise, before she came across a fairly cool-looking cross. She dropped off the money on the cashier after waiting for a while, and left.

The pendant would imbue her with the powers of a Magical Girl. She struck it out alone at first after discovering this power of hers, becoming essentially a Magical Girl version of a vigilante. Of course, this got her into some trouble with the authorities, and not too long after her original stints, she was apprehended by actual Thaumatic Warriors, but not without putting up a fight in the first place. Recognising her abilities, Kent was pressed into joining up with the Program, or face criminal charges. Without any other option, she relented. Besides, it'll be fun.

Powers (what powers do you get as a magical girl/boy):
Enhanced Physical Abilities: As the defacto Lightning Bruiser of the team, she commands very high levels of physical capabilities, being able to leap several stories high up into the air and divebomb targets from the skies. She has above average strength and endurance when compared to her other colleagues- enough for her to maintain a fight on the ground if it comes down to it and play off as a very limited Guardian through pure physical prowess when push comes to shove.

Crimson Blaze: Diver is capable of emanating powerful crimson blasts from her feet, hands, and the tips of her spears, allowing her to essentially reposition herself in the air and, more importantly, utilize her bread and butter of climbing far up into the skies, and then kamikaze diving straight down at her target, impaling them with her spear. She can use the blasts as an offensive and defensive move on the ground as well, either to deliver an explosive payload on her opponent, or simply to retreat or dodge out of trouble.
