There is great debate among historians as to how long Magical Girls have been around. Some say that Magical Girls have been around as long as humanity itself and the takes snd myths of long lost societies were, in fact, stories of Magical Girls fighting monsters or each other. Others believe that they are a recent phenomenon, dating back to Medieval times at most. Regardless, it is generally accepted that the first appearance of Magical Girls as we know them was sometime in the 1940s during World War II. These brightly clad warriors would defend the world against all manner of monsters that appeared alongside them and even pitch in to stop crimes or rescue people from disasters both natural and man made.

Of course, as one might expect, the governments of the world were quick to attempt to weaponize these girls and boys. That... didn't end well. The exact details are still heavily classified but something bad happened and at the end of WWII, the use of Magical Girls as weapons of war was banned by the Geneva Conventions as well as basic ethics.

Still, you had all these super powered living weapons lying around and you had to do something with them. You couldn't just let them run wild and do whatever they wanted. Some countries went for the quick and easy route of systemically murdering anybody who even showed signs of being a magical girl. Others, who recognized this as objectively terrible, had different solutions. America, in particular, created the Thaumatic Warriors Program, called as such because the use of the phrase "Magical Girl" would embarrass the US government more than it already embarrasses itself. Any person of 18 or older with Magical Girl powers (referred to as Thaumaturgy by the government) may sign up for the project (17 is also acceptable but only with parental consent) and go to one of several schools specifically designed to teach Magical Girls, Boys, and those who don't conform to a binary gender spectrum how to use their powers, essentially replacing college. In these schools, Thaumatic Warriors are separated into squads with whom they will train and once school is complete, these squads are sent out into the world to defend it from the monsters (and occasional supervillain) that threaten it.

And that brings us up to modern day. These days what does and does not count as a Magical Girl is rather blurry. Magic is not strictly required and both aliens and robots have been accepted into the Thaumatic Warriors Project. One "Magical" Girl is just a normal girl with some really high tech gadgetry. Nobody found out until after she graduated and she still has her job because she's that good.

But we're not here to talk about her, cool as her story might be. We're here to talk about Squad 7, a Magical Girl squad attending Rosemary Academy for Thaumatic Warriors in the grand old state of New York (Creator Provincialism? What's that?). What wacky hijinks will they get up to? What threats will they face? Let's see.

Hey, hey! Welcome one and all to my brand new Magical Girl RP now with way too much thought put into it! What did you think of my intro? Too much? Not enough?

To condense it: Magical Girls exist, they have existed for a long time, America has special military schools to train them to fight monsters, you're playing students there. That's the gist of it. Want to know more? Ask me and I'll talk your ear off?

Anyways, this RP will be a little different from my other RPs in that there is a player limit because as it turns out when you have a concept that works better with five or six main characters it's best to have five or six characters as opposed to ten. As such the maximum player limit is 6. Well, actually it's 5 because I'm already taking up a spot. There are no specific roles that need to be filled. Also, I'm limiting everyone to a single character for the reasons mentioned above. Technically I'm an exception since you'll notice there are two characters by me in the CS thread instead of one but one of them (Shanon) is really just an NPC who's important enough to have her own character sheet as opposed to an actual player character.

Moving on, because of the whole limited number thing this will not be first come first serve. My standards are low but even I have a limit. Sorry if that sounded rude. So, in a departure from form instead of posting the CS in the CS thread you'll send it straight to me via PM along with a writing sample. Don't worry, you don't have to go overboard on the writing sample. Just write like you normally would. Like I said, my standards aren't that high. Sending me a link to previous RPs you've been in works too. Once I approve it then you can post it in the CS thread and I'll add your name to the list of accepted people.

Rule time!

-No Godmodding, Power Playing, etc.
-No taking over other people's character.
-Posts must be at least a paragraph.
-Using BBCode is fine so long as it works on mobile and is legible.
-No RL Faceclaims please.
-I usually try not to limit how people make their characters but could we tone down the edge. It gets frustrating when characters don't interact because they're too busy brooding in a corner or studying everybody in the room to figure out their weaknesses and personalities.
-Please don't be an asshole in the OOC.
-Have fun.
