By themselves, a SAMAS suit is not that scary. But when you deploy them in good numbers, then you are looking at trouble.

Any of the fun martial art types from Ninjas and Superspies in this one?

Perhaps I should let you all know that I have been pondering a different game to run. This would be a Rifts game, but with a much different focus than Sherwood's: You would all be starting out as Coalition solders on the front lines against the evil hordes out to destroy the world, acting as the literal saviors of humanity!

Let me ask - where is the fun factor for you, Psychie Psychie ? I think I get the saviors of humanity pull, but blowing away D-Bees and humans that are different than the Coalition States?

My own draws for getting into this game are (so far) two-fold: it's you guys and gal, and it's a military-style setting.

However, the other side of my brain has this argument: If we were to somehow have a standard C.S. team meet with, say, our Force of Justice West Coast team, the C.S. would kill every last one of them (and maaaybe incarcerate people like Colt Campbell for his technological secrets, then off him when he's proven useless). The only person who might have a chance at walking out of that room has already been escorted out - that's Ultraweapon (who, while was trying to join up with us, hates aliens).

Maybe I'm wrong about this, but the Stalin-like superpowered Nazis with American resources that are the C.S. basically go around wasting everyone who isn't like them. So... what are your draws as a would-be GM of this kind of game? Are there perhaps aspects of your world that I'm not yet aware of? For example - let's say this was a Rifts-style world where the augmented humans and D-Bees genuinely are evil and are out to get humanity? Not just demons, vampires, and naturally-evil creatures, but anything that basically wasn't human was considered dinner (or worse, sacrifice)?

In my head, deeper thinking (to a point) leads to deeper Characters and longer-lasting games. Going back to the world, if we are playing Coalition States SAMAS pilots (uneducated, mostly-illiterate people with feelings but no true understanding of the Proseks and their ambitions), then that by itself to me isn't bad. Now, add say a world where it's taken from, say, the movie series Alien/Aliens, where there are no good D-Bees, there are humans who will die (or worse!) without your aid, and there is that constant threat to humanity, then I can see myself onboard.

BUT if we're out setting orphanages belonging to magic-using children on fire with them inside along with their tainted teachers (very Coalition States, I think) in a Vietnam-style war effort where the next person you shoot could have been an ally, then... I'm out. The very idea of some of the ideas in Coalition War Campaign strike chords in me (hooray for humanity!), but some of them are too deep (Real Life American political division where "either you're for us or against us, you son of a bitch!").

It's a line I think I would be crossing if we were to play a typical Coalition-based game where our job is probably to kill or capture everything that isn't human and normally so.

Sorry if I'm thinking too deeply about these things but that's where a mind like mine goes when I think about joining certain games. Those of you in my Sharseya (Pathfinder) campaign might remember why I don't play in evil-aligned campaigns. What a fun conversation that was! Woo! =)

So yeah, Psychie. What's this world of yours like, lady?

My plan was to do two things: First, explore and face off against the Xiticix encroachment in the northwest, and to offer up moral questions to you about the orders you are getting in regards to the DBees you are running into.

I also want to reassure you that I have a moral compass that I don't want to leave behind, so you will not be wiping out the orphanage with flamethrowers to send a message to magic users. If you run into demons, they are fair game, though.

Oh. Two more draws. Palladium rules system and the Coalition has a lot of cool toys (like the Smilin' Jack). =)

I would be shocked to my core if you ever did leave your morals behind, Psychie. You have always struck me as a person who gives a damn. And I like that. =)

In my experience, there are good people who can play evil games (Sherwood, for example). And they can separate them quite well. I am not one of them (you could say I'm not built that way), but I admire such a Player's flexibility.

Xiticix is a great start - now there is an enemy anyone on Earth can fight with a clear conscience (the Mechanoids are another). Demons are already on most adventurers' short lists (to either kill, banish, or enslave).

I'm on the fence here. I don't know how many other players are in. Also, the character idea this forming in my head is about as Coalition as it gets (for me). Special Forces. Hardcore. A veteran and literate if you'll allow it. Also a good leader. But I don't know how much fun I'll have playing him.

Hmmm. Thank you for giving me something cool to think about!

To be honest, I'm not 100% sure who's in. Both D. Rex and Sherwood sound interested, but while they have not committed themselves to the game, I haven't posted too much detail on it either. I was thinking of giving Silanon a poke to see if he's game for another round of Rifts in my Interest post. Do you guys have anyone in particular that you would like (or on the other side of the coin, not want) to see in the game that we can send an invite to?

And Sherwood Sherwood and D. Rex D. Rex Are you guys interested in giving this a go?

I'd certainly be interested in playing a bad guy campaign. Though I understand that isn't something that Dannigan wants.

I might be interested. Can't really say yet.

Oh! Jaydude might be interested. He likes invites.

Well, let me make up an interest post and give a few tags in it with a bit of details on the game I'm envisioning and see what fish I can get to nibble on my hook.

I would be pleased to give this a try. Lets see who we can rope into this!
