A global depression has wrecked havoc across the world as new Cold War ensues between the US and Russia. Because of the proxy wars fought in this cold war, Eurasia has been thrown into constant war, terrorism, and Europe has become a dangerous place to live. It is the near future. (This world is like a scifi 1984/Brave New World with a cyber punk twist) This Cold War is not so much reliant on Proxy wars and coups to install puppet satellite states as it relies on cyberwarfare. FBI detective David Yates works in New York City, though he is originally from Texas. He works in the Cyber Division of the FBI for cyber terrorism. David is contacted by his boss, Director Arthur Wycliffe, who informs him that an investigation into allegations of the Russian mafia illegally transporting refugees from Europe to the US has unearthed a far more sinister crime. The syndicate has been taking young refugee children and using them in a child prostitution ring. Before the raid, however, the syndicate tried to destroy their servers. David is assigned to retrieve as much data as he can from the servers. To assist him, he contacts his partner Layla, a young woman whose code name is the "Levant". A powerful virus was used to clean the servers and Layla traces the malware back to a source who she identifies as "Red Harry". Red Harry turns out to just be a young kid who got caught up in a deal he was oblivious to. However, David is interesting in knowing where he obtained the virus. But he cannot answer for he does not know who. The case seems to go to a dead end until David is contacted by an informant who calls their self "Allen". "Allen" claims to have information David seeks and even claims to be the architect of said virus. "Allen" directs David to a Non Governmental Organization known as Osiris, which works as a leading head for technological development for multinational corporations as well as the Pentagon. The virus is a military weapon whose power is intended to destroy an entire nation. Known as: The Shadow Man. An organization exists under the supervision of Osiris called the Marrs Society, which recruits young and underprivileged, yet highly talented and intelligent, young people. What they discover is that the Marrs Society is covertly a ruse between the government and Osiris which makes cyber soldiers who fight in the Cold War. David and Layla, following "Allen's" clues, both begin to unravel a conspiracy that leads to the very top of the government and a sinister plan that includes global domination by a small and powerful elite and their quest for immortality via transhumanism.
